YESTERDAY WAS PODIASTIST APPOINTS DOR BOTH OF US.

A WHILE BACK SOMEONE MENTION ED BEING A PART OF OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN GROWING UP. I HAVE BEEN ENRICHED BY THIS. IT HAS BEEN A JOY TO HEAR WHAT ALL OF THEIR ACTIVITIES. WE HAVE BEEN A GROUP FOR A LONG TIME.

WE HAVE HAD SOME SHOWERS, BUT STILL DROUGHT. SO FAR, WORST OF STORMS HAVE  NOT BEEN NEAR OUR HOUSE. CHANCE FOR SOME LATER TODAY AS WELL. STILL HIT BUT AT LEAST NOT IN TRIPLE DIGITS.

FEEL BETTER TO KNOW NOT ONLY ONE THAT RAN WASHER
OR DRYER EMPTY. SEVERAL DAYS AGO RAN WASHER WITHOUT THE INTENDED LOAD.

GAVE A GOOD DAY.

Good evening friends!
Monday and Tuesday were pre-transplant testing days at the Cleveland Clinic for Dean.  They were long days, but productive as he has to have those tests and be cleared in all before any transplant date will be final.  Now he has to have a 3rd round of chemo since his transplant date is not set.  They do not want him to come out of remission, so chemo it is.  We are not  happy about it, but I don't want his leukemia to flair up.  Nobody seems to know what the delay is on the transplant date.  Our coordinating nurse did not know either.  She said he has a 100% nonrelative stem cell donor match, which is rather rare.  He is showing no signs of a "leukemia blast" in his white blood cells and his cells are very low.  Well, we just have to wait.  I have to say, the Cleveland Clinic is like a city!!  It is has so many buildings and is so spread out!  However, we had to go from building A to the building J and we never had to step foot outside.  They have aerial walkways connecting the buildings.  It did take us a little while to find our way, but they have help stations all over and they are very informative.  Plus, if one is too tired to walk, phones are located every so many feet and we can call for a shuttle.  They have golf carts to deliver people.  So nice.

Trish, I agree with the soccer statement about the goalies.  My son, Aaron, played goalie position and he was very good at it.  I hated when those players were one on one with him as they were nearly impossible to stop the kicks from entering the goal.  He always felt horrible when they scored on his watch.  Sorry the USA and Australia teams are out.

We had a break in the weather today as it was lovely and nice.  We had over 100 degree weather and then tons of heavy rain.  We enjoyed today for sure.  Dean and I walked a while at the lake, but he tired easily, so we only did a mile and came home.  We did see a couple of herons, so that was fun.

I have not forgotten to put clothes into the dryer, but I have put clothes in the dryer and forgot to turn it on!  I had to re-wash to make sure they had not soured after I discovered them.

PODIATRIST IS ONE APPOINTMENT THAT LOOK FORWARD TO GOING. ACTUALLY TOO LONG BETWEEN VISITS, BUT THAT IS WHAT MEDICARE DICTATES.

STILL HOT. WELL TOO HOT FOR ME. GOD BLESS THE CREATOR OF AIR CONDITIONING. GRATEFUL FOR IT.

MY GRANDMOTHERS HOUSE COULD BE FAIRLY COOL. IT WAS A TWO STORY WITH LARGE ATTIC FOUR SQUARE. WINDOWS ACROSS FOR VENTILATION. FRONT PORCH ACROSS FRONT THAT HAD AWNING SO FRONT OF HOUSE STAYED SHADY. BEDROOMS UPSTAIRS COULD BE A LITTLE WARMER THAN DOWM STAIRS. GRANDMOTHER WOULD CLOSE WINDOWS AND BLINDS WHEN SUN ON THEM. ALSO ATTIC HAD SOME WINDOWS THAT COULD LET HOT AIR OUT.  IT WAS BUILT IN EARLY 1900s. LIVED THAT HOUSE, FOND MEMORIES. MY GRANDMOTHER HAD A VERY GREEN THUMB AND HAD LOVELY FLOWER BEDS.

Went for my outing and only stayed gone an hour. It was a bust because I wasn't in the mood to shop, but did get to walk around awhile.

Greg and Carter are visiting. This is the earliest they have come and it's usually on the weekend, but they've been tubing in Helen, GA and got home yesterday.

Cheryl, it's good Dean will have a 100% stem cell match. Sorry he needs a 3rd round of chemo.

LINDA.......JOT DOWN YOUR MEMORIES ON A PIECE OF PAPER WHEN YOU THINK OF THEM, THEN WRITE THE WHOLE STORY IN A NOTEBOOK FOR YOUR KIDS.  I THINK THEY WILL FIND IT FASCINTATING.    

DEVONNE.....YOUR SON GREG AND HIS CARTER SURE SEEM TO HAVE A GOOD TIME WHEN THEY GET TOGETHER.  HE WILL REMEMBER THESE TIMES ALWAYS AND BE GRATEFUL.

I AM PLANNING ON MAKING BOTH CHICKEN RICE SOUP AND BUNDIES (MEAT TURNOVERS) TODAY.  THAT WAY I CAN KEEP A FEW BUNDIES AND SEND MY SON HOME WITH SOUP AND ENOUGH BUNDIES TO KEEP HIM HAPPY.  I FIGURED OUT THE CALORIES ON A SMALL POT OF SOUP SO I CAN COUNT THEM WHEN I EAT.
I GOT BOOTED OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES.  HAD TO REOPEN.  LUCKY I SAVED MY PARAGRAPHS.

I WAS ABOUT DONE ANYWAY.  GOT TO GET MY SOUP STARTED AND MY LAPS IN.

You're welcome, Linda.   Sometimes you wonder if the younger set has any interest in the past, but yours do. 

I forgot to tell you that we are great grandparents again.  Another boy, born July 4, two weeks after Oakley.
His name is Ezra Thomas.  Isn't that a heck of a name?  None of my business...  I got that bit of news from Jane, Howard's ex.  Seems that Jacob texted her but hasn't done so for us, yet.  We WERE the ones who drove 3 hrs. down there to the Sprinkle and 3 hrs. home. Sorry, blowing off a bit of steam on you girls.  It IS painful for Howard.   And, a bit hard to understand. I know we're not in their daily thoughts, but one would think if he texted Jane, he would have done the same for Howard.  

Holly, I make kielbasa in the crockpot with potatoes and a can of green beans, undrained.  I like it's flavor best.  And, since Howard picked up two pkgs. at the grocery, guess he does too! 
Nice for you and Ralph to have this bonus time with Manda and the kids. 

ML is out shopping for new rugs to place on their new flooring.   I reminded her that it is summer and  while they do want them for coziness, later, there's no big rush.  She's so tired of being all torn up, but it's pretty much over, now.   Decorating is hard and she claims she hates it, but her choices are always nice and look good.  

I need to go and get busy.  The small group will come here next Friday, but this time I already have the house all picked up so am ahead  of the game.  Making chicken salad  on croissants for the meal.  Others will bring dessert, chips and deviled eggs.  

Off to find something for lunch.  Back later...

Thank you both, Linda and QB.  A new baby IS something special but  we won't see this baby any more than his 3 1/2 yr. old brother who we only saw for the first time at the Sprinkle in May.  The estrangement in Howard's family goes deep and seems irreparable.  Howard's son, David, wasn't invited to the Sprinkle, not even told about it.  That came from Rita, his separated wife who still has great hope he'll never finalize the divorce and come back to her/them.   All that trickles down and adds to the distance between this whole family. She did say we were still her in-laws and spent the whole time we were there with us, catching up.  I don't insert myself in the middle of this. As the stepmom/gram It's too tricky.   I just buy the card, presents and keep track IF we  need to send one or go to something, etc.  

ML just called.  I've been summoned to help her figure some stuff out with her new remodel.
I'm not that good at this, but I do want to see the new flooring they've put in and the new rugs she bought, yesterday.  Howard is out in the front yard fixing the well cap he "decapitated"  a few weeks ago and he's frustrated too.  We were going over there together but she wants me alone for awhile.  See how much fun WE have?

Good evening all.

I have been looking on youtube about all the awful/unhealthy ingredients in the enriched flour in the U.S.  I guess it is why so many people today have trouble with gluten and or with celiac disease.  I most likely will still buy my Pillsbury flour, but it is interesting to read.  My nephew lives outside of London, England, and he posts all the time about the differences in the food.  For example McDonalds french fries in the U.S. have loads of additives.  The ingredients in the England McDonalds are listed as potato, oil and salt.  There are many others, but I will not go into them.

Hot and humid today, so I stayed indoors with my A/C. 

Judy, congratulations on the new baby.  My grandfathers names were Ezra (dad's side) and Hezekiah (mom's dad)   Both old, old names.  Grandmothers were Cora and Helen.  Why are baby showers now called Sprinkles?  Is it because both male and female are invited?  Excuse my ignorance, but I have only been to baby showers. 
Linda, you have wonderful memories, so thanks for sharing.  The Blue Ridge/ Shenandoah/Sky Line Drive  area is my favorite area of the entire United States. 

I have been gathering items to donate as we want to downsize all the "stuff" we have.

 

INDY  you are absolutely right, on 2 fronts LOL both the grandparents and STRINGS stories, I love hearing about it all.

I remember telling Pete about STRINGS being not far from all the USA history he was interested in. He loved hearing about the places you told about STRINGS, so did I. and yes as SANDRA says, write down when you can remember the stories, the family will love them in years to come!

INDY As a grandparent I find it hard when some don't seem to want to be part of the kids lives - you all know about the "other" ones in our family, too sad, but it happens all the time. Such a shame that the parents choose that too, my friend Julie has that, her daughter does everything she can to minimise Julie to her own kids, calls her Julie to them when she calls - not grandma, Julie has taken my advice and tried to do something each child likes when she visits. I've told her they'll remember when they are older -  my own grandmother I only saw once a year, but I adored her, she made time when she did see us!

SANDRA that is perfect weather, cool at night and nice warm during the day LOL my kind of days, ours is much cooler, you would not feel it, but it's cold here LOL only getting to maximum of 60, and going to 30s and low 40s overnight, I know, we are wimps LOL It's the cold wind that doesn't help, it drops the chill factor down to 20s/30s!!!

CHERYL I know we  don't have additives either, I like when I read the label and it doesn't go on for miles about what is in it. Less is best LOL My flour has one - unbleached flour!! I don't have the self raising pack, It'll look it👀up next time I buy, I transfer to containers when I buy flour, sugar etc. 
(ooh! look at that little eyes LOL no idea how I did that)

INDY congrats on the new baby, it's not ideal situation, but all least you get some news. I admire you for keeping the house tidy, I need to do that, currently I have bits of fabric all over the dining table, cutting strips!

Families !!!!  I think that Chal's kids will stop seeing Mike's parents eventually, they are not being very kind, and I know that Chal is being as fair as she can but they don't seem to understand that they have to accept some responsibility as she asked them for help many times, and they kept brushing it off. 

I have been watching the soccer, disappointed that England won this morning, I was hoping Norway would go through, that Norway goalie is very cute!! Love his hair tied up in a bun, he's probably disappointed in himself, he missed the goal that let England in front, but it was a great goal and  impossible to catch.

I have to keep drinking water today, I  haven't been drinking enough. I have to get bloodwork and urine tests tomorrow, and I need to be well hydrated. I've been slack lately, it's too cold to keep drinking water, not enjoyable LOL I did get some Vimto yesterday, it's a kind of fruit cordial, it's in a book I have been reading, and Amazon had it on sale, so I got some, kind of like our Ribena cordial, but more raspberry flavour. The instructions say dilute  with 4 parts water YIKES that was still too strong for me! It's very sugary LOL

I heard back from Ashley, she is going to try something else with help from her nephew when she next sees him, so hopefully we can sort out the board - fingers crossed!
