I came home from retreat about 4:30 yesterday afternoon. It was actually scheduled to end after breakfast today. But because of the weather prediction I figured I’d best leave. Anyway there was only light rain, 43 overnight and now the sun is struggling to come out. The locals say we will have wet “non accumulating “ snow this afternoon. Like Sandra said, hopefully the locals are correct because I have a dr appt tomorrow and another on Tuesday.
The retreat was ok. Nice to get out. I didn’t know anyone but most wee welcoming and friendly. I’m terrible with names, always have been. The food was much better than the January retreat…
Back later. I’d like to unpack my stuff.
Painters are scheduled to start a week from tomorrow so we need to prep the 4 rooms. I was hoping DH would have done some of that while I was away, but didn’t. 🙁
Sorry to hear about the illnesses and passings. 😞

Good morning. Old Man Winter is back! We woke up to four inches of snow blanketing everything. It's still coming down and the wind is fierce in gusts. And, after church on-line, Howard is off to the grocery.
Not me. I'm staying in. The stores around here are trying to lure more customers for their 3-day weekend specials and there were some things he was determined to go for. He's fairly willing to go alone, now, since he can make much better time without me on several levels. Actually, we ended up conferring on a list before he left. How can two people eat so much? ![]()
I thought I have a lot of fabric, but you girls have me beat I'm pretty sure. You'd probably gag at the stuff I have, much of it weirdo stuff I've pick up here and there at garage sales. But, I do love it when something works and I can use it. Will be going up to my sewing room, today to check for something I can use on my current hand sewing project--a small spring wall hanging using some beaded, floral embroidered trim from an old blouse Mom had.
Diane, better news for your brother, thankfully. Hope you're health is improving, too. ![]()
And, Linda, so sorry for the loss in your extended family. Fifty-one IS so young and then, the serious surgery with his wife. As for you, keep coming back. I, for one always enjoy your posts and hearing about your family. Hope Darrell is doing well...
QB, you are "setting the house on fire"...with your reorganization and chor-ing. Is that a word? Grandma used to remind Grandpa to get "coated" up to do the "choring". ![]()
I'm going. Have to revel in the small dose of alone time I have right now. Blessings.

It was 75 yesterday and 46 for the high today. Tonight it's going to be in the 20's. I want the sun back. ![]()
I thought Greg & Carter were coming back today, but they are flying into LA today; Atlanta tomorrow. He said they did good with the train station, but said you would be totally lost if you didn't educate yourself before you go. I'll be relieved when he texts me. He's really good about that and has sent me some great pictures and videos.
Diane, prayers for your brother.
Janet, I thought you wouldn't go on this retreat, but I'm glad you did. I probably would not have went if I didn't know anyone.
I didn't get the dishwasher unloaded yesterday, so I'll go do that now. Hope y'all have a wonderful Sunday.

Happy landing to the boys DEVONNE - I am sure they will have lots to tell!!
SANDRA hope Nan is doing OK, you really have taken on a big job, don't get too tired, but I bet it feels good to clear out some fabric!!
HOLLY have you settled back into routine now the family have left, always makes you feel a bit flat after it (((hugs)))
JANET nice to hear you had a good time at retreat, get anything completed?, I can usually get at least one thing finished LOL
STRINGS hard to remember to check in sometimes when you have so much on, there is alot you have to deal with at home (((hugs)))
INDY we are still having a LONG summer, so not surprised to hear you have Old Man Winter still, it's been awfully hot here, but it's the humidity that's the worst. Happy landings to ML & B too (((hugs)))
Nothing much happening here, I got the housework done, went to yoga, and now I'm looking for a new puzzle, thought I had one ready to go, but must have given it to Julie. The A/C is doing its thing, and will be on most of the night, I really hate these nights of not lower than 78F temps - add in the humidity too YUK!! At least the house stays OK after it goes off in the early hours.
I think I will be picking up Dean after school tomorrow, he has an early finish, so will be busy tomorrow, training, then hair cut, then Dean, at least we have leftovers for dinner LOL
I need to figure out when to get my blood test done as well, I have to have it every month for a bit - the creatine levels are off, hoping for an improvement this month.

ITS AN AD, AD, AD WORLD......
1. BE WITH US AGAIN NEXT SATURDAY AT 10 P.M. FOR "HIGH FIDELITY," DESIGNED TO HELP MUSIC LOVERS INCREASE THEIR REPRODUCTION.
2. WHEN YOU ARE THIRSTY, TRY 7-UP, THE REFRESHING DRINK IN THE GREEN BOTTLE WITH THE BIG 7 ON IT AND U-P AFTER.
YIKES, THE WIND IS GUSTING SOMETHING AWFUL. SNOW IS SWIRLING OFF THE ROOFS WITH THE HEAVY WINDS. NO SNOW HERE YET BUT MY DAU IS GETTING IT JUST 25 MILES SOUTH OF US.
JANET......ITS NICE WHEN THE LADIES ARE THOUGHTFUL AND MAKE A NEWCOMER FEEL JUST THAT, WELCOME. I HOPE YOU HAD A GOOD TIME.
TRISH.....I AM THRU SORTING FABRICS. WHAT A JOB. I PULLED LOTS OF FABRIC TO GIVE AWAY, BUT AS IT SITS ON A CHAIR AWAITING MY DAU TO CHOOSE SOME FIRST, I FIND THAT I WANT SOME OF IT FOR SPECIFIC THINGS. I HAVE ADDED BACK TO MY STASH SOME THAT I THOUGHT I SHOULD GET RID OFF. LIKE FABRICS I CAN USE AS UNUSUAL BUILDINGS FOR SANTA'S VILLAGE OR THE LIKE, AND THEN I THOUGHT I MIGHT MAKE MYSELF SOME APRONS LIKE THOSE WORN DECADES AGO, WITH THE BIB FRONT. FOUND SOME FABRIC THAT WILL WORK FOR THAT, TOO. IF MY DAU DOESN'T GET HERE TOMORROW AS SCHEDULED, I WILL JUST HAVE TO CHOOSE SOME FOR HER FOR MAKING DOGGY SCARVES AND TAKE THE REST TO THE COMMON ROOM. ITS TOO TEMPTING STAYING IN MY APT.
MY SON SHOPPED YESTERDAY AND SAID THE STORE WAS PACKED AND SOME THINGS NOT AVAILABLE SO HE CHOSE ANOTHER BRAND FOR THE BEEF STEW MIX AND THEN THICK-CUT BACON INSTEAD OF REGULAR. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS AS I ORDERED. HE ALWAYS DOES SUCH A GOOD JOB. HE LOVED THE HAMBURGER SOUP, WHICH I TWEAKED A BIT THIS TIME, AND HAD 2 FULL BOWLS FOR HIS LUNCH. HE SAID HE SPOILED ALL THE WORK HE HAD JUST DONE AT THE GYM, BUT IT WAS TOO GOOD TO STOP. HE ALSO TOOK SOME HOME WITH HIM.
WITH THE GUSTS WE ARE GETTING AND THE HEAVY SNOW LINED UP FOR US SHORTLY, WE WILL PROBABLY LOSE POWER. I AM READY THO AS USUAL. I JUST HOPE WE DO NOT LOSE IT MORE THAN 24 HRS. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO REPLENISH MY FREEZER. OTHER THINGS IN THE FRIDGE ITSELF WON'T BE AS COSTLY.
SO IF YOU DO NOT HEAR FROM ME TOMORROW, HAVE NO FEAR. I AM PROBABLY JUST PLAYING SOLITAIRE OR READING WHILE AWAITING THE RETURN OF POWER.
STAY SAFE AND WARM MY DEAR FRIENDS. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Yes, Trish, my travelers are flying home, today, too. Hope they don't have too much trouble adjusting from the tropical Florida to the wintry NW Indiana. Howard is heading out to plow, right now. He's expecting a pkg. and the mail lady will not attempt our driveway unless it's obviously plowed. We never got the 6 to 7 inches predicted overnight.
Looks like you in the East really got socked! ![]()
I got a nice call from my son last evening. He's 'on' to "care" for us when the others go somewhere. All things considered, I know he'd be here in a heartbeat if we needed anything. We had a nice catchup talk and he always assures me of his love for me, which is really all that this mother wants. His call came while I was upstairs trying to figure out and choose fabric to complete my Spring wall hanging. Then it was supper to get, so I'll try again today.
Off to start that...or something...

Yikes, we got 18 inches of snow! At 5:30 a.m. for some reason the county plowed our street (we are not a county road), tried to turn around in our driveway, and got stuck in the mounds of snow they had just plowed there. Eventually there were 3 county trucks there to dig the one out. What a mess. So we were up then because of the backup noises and them spinning wheels. I have pix up on my blog of the snow.
I’m still moving fabric around. Manda wants tablecloths, so I sent her pix of some of the big pieces I have, and she picked 6. I’m still finding flannel, and putting it all in one place.
Still no sign of Nancy Guthrie. 24 days, and it’s just weird. Some conspiracy theories out there on Instagram. The family must be so frantic.

Holly, do you think she is still alive? About a rag quilt, I have always wanted to do one but never did. Go for it!
Greg and Carter landed 15 minutes ago. He said he was very tired. I can only imagine!
I bought a hand crank Vekaya cheese/veggie grater. It worked great for zucchini. It has a release suction handle that suctions it to the countertop, It came with four attachments. I may never use my regular grater again. It's easy to clean too...think it was $27.

Devonne, sadly, I’d be shocked if she’s still alive. If it was a real kidnapping there would have been ransom demands and proof of life.

Holly, WOW! That is a lot of snow. We got about 4 inches and some icy roads. We were keeping track with the weather station about that "snowicane" coming up the east coast.
Devonne, do you think you new grater would do cabbage for slaw? I hate grating that stuff, but we all love cole slaw. I tried my food processor, but it did not do a good job either, so I do it on a box grater.
Glad you guys got in OK.
Judy, safe travels for your family too. How nice that your son checks in with you. My boys would do anything we asked too, we are blessed.
Trish, I, too, am having issues with a high creatine level in the kidneys. I went to a kidney specialist last week and she wanted me on the drug Farxiga. With my insurance, it would have been $200 a month. I am not doing that just yet, so I have a message in to her. She did not tell me anything else to do, just take this medicine.
I guess I should have asked more questions. I know to watch the sugar, but now will do a better job of it. I don't want to go on insulin.
Stay warm friends! Trish, you try to stay cool! ![]()

I agree with Holly on the kidnapping.
Rag quilts were the quilting rage back in the day. I washed mine at the laundromat as that first rag washing is tough on a washer.
I have drs appt this morning. Back later.

STOP THE PRESSES!
1. WEIGHT WATCHERS WILL MEET TUESDAY AT 7 P.M. AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. PLEASE USE THE LARGE DOUBLE DOOR AT THE SIDE ENTRANCE.
2. PATRICK MURPHY, A RETIRED PLUMBER FROM PASADENA, TEACHES FELLOW ELDERLY PERSONS HOW TO BE HANDYMEN AND WOMEN.
LOVELY SUNSHINE TODAY AND THE STORM WAS PETERED OUT BY THE TIME IT HIT US. WE GOT ABOUT 5 INCHES OF IT BUT IT WAS SO GUSTY WINDY THAT THE WIND BLEW THE SNOW RIGHT OFF THE CARS AND THE ROADS. OUR PARKING LOT CARS WERE PRETTY CLEAR OF SNOW EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE INCHES IN THE EDGES OF THE SIDE WINDOWS. IT WAS AN EASY CLEARING FOR THE OWNERS.
DEVONNE......SO GLAD YOUR MEN GO HOME SAFELY. I KNOW HOW A MOTHER WORRIES TILL THEY ARE SAFE AT HOME.
HOLLY......YIKES, SAW YOUR PICTURES. I WAS AMAZED AT THE SNOW THEY HAD SOUTH OF US. WE WERE SO DARN LUCKY. YOU GUYS USED UP ALL THE HEAVY SNOW BEFORE IT REACHED US. OURS WAS LIGHT AND TINY AND BLEW EVERY WHICH WAY IN THE WINDS. NO POWER LOSSES HERE.
MY DAU. HAD TO CHANGE MY DR APPT FROM TODAY TO NEXT MONTH. HER HUBBY HAS TO USE THE CAR ALL DAY. HE DOES PLOWING AFTER SNOWDAYS AND HE'S BUSY AT THAT ALL DAY. I LIKE A MARCH APPT BETTER ANYWAY. HOPEFULLY NO SNOWSTORMS ARE ARRIVING AROUND THAT TIME.
I SAT AROUND THINKING TOO MUCH YESTERDAY. ALSO DRAWING PATTERNS FOR APRONS AND THEN THIS MORNING I THOUGHT CIRCLE TABLERUNNERS FOR OUR COMMON ROOM. WHETHER THEY BE 18 OR 24 INCHES, I HAVE FABRIC SUITABLE. I ALSO HAVE A PERFECT PATTERN FOR 24" CIRCLES FROM MY SEASONAL DOOR MAT WHICH IS A PERFECT 24"BY 12" HALF CIRCLE. SO I WAS PULLING BACK FABRIC FROM MY "FREE" PILE. ENOUGH FOR 8 APRONS AND A FEW CIRCLE SETS FOR OUR COMMON ROOM TABLES. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THEM DOUBLE-SIDED, LIKE SPRING AND SUMMER ON ONE CIRCLE, HALLOWEEN AND XMAS ON ANOTHER. YOU GET MY DRIFT. THEN I HAD TO PULL FABRICS SUITABLE FOR DOGGY SCARVES FOR MY GRDAU SINCE NO ONE IS COMING NOW TIL MARCH AND I WANT TO GET THE EXTRAS ON THE "FREE" TABLE. YUP, THAT PILE IS GETTING LOWER AND LOWER.
TODAY I HAVE TO THINK OF A MEAL TO MAKE TOMORROW. I THOUGHT WE MAY LOSE POWER SO I HAD MY SON BRING ME SOME BANANAS. I LIKE A BANANA SANDWICH NOW AND THEN. I WILL HAVE ONE FOR BRUNCH TODAY. AND THEN MAYBE A BANANA HOT FUDGE SUNDAE FOR A SNACK TONITE. AND I HAVE JUST A LITTLE MORE HAMBURGER SOUP LEFT AND SOME SLICED CHICKEN BREAST WHICH WILL DO FOR SUPPER.

Devonne, I didn't realize your kids and mine were flying home the same day. ML and B got home last evening. They had a driver take and get them from O'Hare Airport in Chicago as they did when they went to the U.K. Worth every penny to them.
QB, you're right...there's a palpable feeling of relief when they're finished with the flying, and I know the statistics for flying vs. driving. Since I claim to be a hick and/or a 'country' mouse, though, I'd rather stay on the ground!
I also doubt that Nancy Guthrie is still alive. The not knowing and the lack of closure has to be beyond devastating. ![]()
QB, that's a valid reason for not jumping the g u n and getting rid of things immediately. I know, whenever I sort and cull, shortly, I think of something I could have usedit for , and sometimes, long after. But, a few days delay, not forever, might be the prudent way. The tablecloths sound lovely and a good way to warm up the common space.
I'm obviously over-thinking MY project. Went back upstairs, yesterday, and only got frustrated. Always makes me think of the time at the COF retreat in Charlotte when I took a class with Joni (Charming Sister) and we were learning how to make wonky houses. After watching me dither forever, she said, "Judy, just pick up two scraps and sew them together." And she preceded to help me grab the two--my friend in time of need! ![]()
Had a long, over an hr., catch-up talk on the phone with ML. She's tired, a bit under the weather and glad to be home, snow and all. They had a good time. We'll get together in person later this week. She always brings me something. I think, this time, it's a sea shell.
Devonne, your grater sounds interesting. I've wanted a zucchini spiralizer for a long time, but figured it would be a flash in the pan and then sit in the cupboard. Does yours spiralize?
I'd better get busy. See you tomorrow. Have a good day. ![]()
