It is pouring rain today, and of course, I had to go to the grocery store.  I just got a few items.  I also went to get some Easter candy for the grandkids' baskets.  I just bought small totes from Dollar Tree to use as a basket since they are all older.  I used to get them all a new summer outfit, but I cannot pick out clothes for any of them now.  so, it will be a small amount of treats and money in a card.

Holly, thanks for the info on afib.  My mom had congestive heart disease and my primary care doc and a cardiologist are "watching" me.  I see the cardiologist again in May, but my last treadmill stress test was within normal ranges.  My recovery was actually quick, the nurse said.  I guess all my walking paid off.  Still, I did not care for that particular test.

Nothing else to say, so will sign off for now.

Devonne, your roses and back yard flowers are so pretty.  My daffodils are big and pretty but that is all that is blooming for me.  My lilacs and azaela have buds but not flowering yet.  Aaron and Katie have some pretty crocus and hyacinths and they are very pretty.  The trees are all budding too.

Dean and I walked at Wingfoot Lake State Park and I was hoping to see the herons, but, we did not see any..  A friend posted a picture yesterday of one, but not sure where he saw it.  We did get to see the eagle nests, but they are across the lake.  It was still exciting to see them flying around and then landing near the nests.  I forgot to take my binoculars again.

Aaron and both kids have spring colds and feel lousy.  I woke up with a headache and thought perhaps I was getting it too, but feel much better this afternoon.

It was a pretty day, but supposed to thunder storm this evening.

On the subject of saving money, I guess Dean and I should use some and take a vacation, but we don't usually do that.  We have given the allowable nontaxable amounts to the boys this year and Aaron bought a used Rav with his.  He wanted to pay cash and not have a car payment.  He will sell his older van this summer and put the money away to get Gabriel a used car.  I cannot believe he will be 16 on May 6.  My little preemie baby is now 6'3" tall.  Anthony put his away for college tuitions coming up.

Devonne, those homes were beautiful.  I do love seeing them.  My brother was stationed near Savannah when he was in the army and I go to go visit him.  I loved seeing the wharf area with the old buildings and the trees with the hanging moss (or whatever it is).  Thanks for sharing them.   If I lived closer to you, I would love to go on that sort of tour of the homes with you.  That is my interest too as well as Dean's.  We love old buildings, homes, documents, etc.
I agree with you about leaving enough time when getting to appointments.  I hate being late.

Amelia loves soups of all sorts and she asked for potato soup for the weekend.  It is so easy to do, so I will whip up a batch for her.  She loves taking soup in a thermos for her school lunch.  I think I will make some homemade sandwich bread to go along with it.

Devonne, so sorry on you IRA loss; I don't want to talk about losing money this past week   We will never get it back at our age.  My BIL used to make fun of us for saving and investing,  He never did, spent his money on trips to Alaska, cruises, RVs, etc, and now he is gone.  So perhaps he was right after all.

BRRR! Cold and rainy today, but at least no flooding.  Southern Ohio/Kentucky/India are all getting it from the Ohio River.

Gabriel is with his high school band on a trip to Philadelphia and then on to New York City.  He will be gone until Sunday night.  They have chartered nice buses, so I am sure they will have a grand time.  I have not been to either of those cities.   New York is Aaron's favorite city.  Too bad it is so expensive, or he would live there.

I am in a food slump; nothing sounds good to me.  I made baked chicken breasts and had a simple salad for supper today.  We had spaghetti the past two days.  Same old stuff.

Sandra, how scary to find your friend on the floor.  Thank goodness you found her.

Well, I was called to Federal Jury Duty AGAIN..  It was a year in March since I had to register, so I thought I was going to be bypassed.  Nope; it is a two year wait list and now I have to check nightly to see if I need to go to the courthouse starting April 29 for 30 days.    I hate it.  Also, the city of Akron is doing lots of construction near the Federal Courthouse, so parking will be a nightmare.  The instructions said to allow time to find parking.

Holly, napping during the day usually gives me a headache, so I do not do that; at least not yet.

[size=150]Holly, I planted bee balm a couple years ago and now it has taken over my west side of the house flower bed!  It is really prolific and reseeds itself every year.  I did cut them back a little last year because they were so long and "leggy" but the blooms are pretty.  Mine are dark pink/reddish.  I have no windows on that side of my house so I don't know if hummingbirds come to it or not, but they come to my petunias and Rose of Sharon for sure.

Devonne, thank you for the prayers for Aaron; we pray for the same thing every time he has to get a scan.  He will go again in December.  I am praying for you too, my friend.  Dean and I are doing the exact same thing you are doing to try to avoid probate.  We now have both sons as beneficiaries on our insurances and stocks/annuities.  We have not done the house thing yet since I did not want to have Aaron add assets when Gabriel goes to college.  It will help with him getting student loans/grants.  Not sure if his name on the house under those conditions would do it, so Dean is researching it,

Speaking of student loans, Anthony works for Ohio State, so Abigail can go there tuition free if she qualifies for entrance.  OSU gets way more applicants than freshman spots, but Abby is an honors student, so I think she will be fine, however, now she thinks she wants to go to Kentucky or Tennessee because she wants to be an Occupational Therapist and she thinks they have better programs for that.  If it were up to me I would say she had to go at least the first two years tuition free, live at home, and save money.  Then take her last two years where ever she wanted if not OSU.

Snowed again last night but sunny and bright, if chilly, today.  I love it.  Would much rather see blue skies than gray.

Janet, Dean has a big truck too and I have not driven it yet even after 3 years.  When Abby was learning to drive, she got it his truck like it was nothi

Good afternoon friends.

It is sunny and bright, in just a little cool.  We had a tiny bit of snow on the ground this morning, but it is all melted now.  Lots of flooding around the Ohio river and some of the smaller rivers, but nothing in my area.

I pulled two containers from my freezer this morning and told Dean to expect "mystery meals"  lil.  I usually put a label and date on the containers, but I don't see any.  I think it is beef stew or veg beef soup, but not sure.  I have to use more of the food I have in the freezer before buying more.

Holly, good for you for getting your quilter out.  I put the New Joy midarm that Kelli gave me in the basement a few years ago.  I really should get it back out, but I use the spare bedroom for the grandkids, so I took it down.  I think about calling Kelli's daughter, Jessi, and asking if she would like it or would like it to sell.  Don't think she would get much from it as it is old, but I don't feel comfortable selling it since Kelli gave it to me.  She bought a fancy digital one and gave me this one.  I never really got the hang of it, and prefer to just use my Janome with straight line quilting.

Devonne, Aaron had 30 treatments, I think.  He had to go every 3 months the first year, every 6 months the second year and now he is on a yearly Petscan check.  As long as they are clear, he will only do yearly.  He had to fight with the insurance coverage when he had to do the 3 months, but his doctor got it done for  him.

Good evening friends.

Judy, hope Howard is much better soon.  Most men really are babies when it comes to being sick.   As for thinking about what to have for supper, I think of it all the time...what to have for supper?  lol. But I have lots of things in my freezer and if I have to take them out, I need time to defrost.

I am guilty of giving some sloppily made quilts for donations.  I HATE to rip and resew, so, usually I do not.  so, if seams are wonky, they go anyway.  I try to do really nice one for the NICU at Children's Hospital but for the Free Diaper Bank, I give what ever is finished...wonky or not.  If they are too bad, they go to the animal shelter for dog bedding.

Dean and I share chores most of the time, but he actually does all of the "man's work", especially with the car and lawn care.  He also cleans the bathrooms, kitchen and does dishes when I cook, so I guess I am spoiled.  I do the shopping, laundry, cooking and help him when needed.  It works for us.

It has been raining off and on for days, and the ground is  saturated here also.  Some slight flooding in some low areas, but all in all, not too bad.

Devonne, I think if you don't do a "mega" dose you will be fine.  Aaron used the Boost brand when he was going through his treatments.  They gave him some needed food when he did not feel the greatest.  He used the vanilla brand, added sugar free A &W rootbeer packets and said it tasted like a melted rootbeer float.

Theresa, I was summoned to the Federal Jury pool last year.  Thank goodness I have not been called yet.  I do not know how long they keep one on the list of potential jurors.  I served on a Federal jury twice and do not care to do it again.  Katie, my DIL, was summoned to the local court but she went and was not seated.  Good luck to you.
Simba sounds like a joy!!

Trish, the church has what looks like a bathtub on the front of the pulpit.  I don't know if it goes into the floor of if somebody sets it up.  The water is warm and the people getting dunked wear shorts or whatever they prefer.  Andrew wore swimming shorts and a t shirt.  The older lady wore sweat pants and a t shirt.  A person with a large towel is waiting for them as they exit the tub, which has handles on both sides. The preacher held their hand and guided them out and to the towel. (My church has a tub/pool set up behind the pulpit on a stage and behind a curtain so that it is not visible unless in use. ) The preacher said some words, the kids held their nose and he quickly dunked them in the water.

We had some severe storms last night, but no damage, just lots of branches down.  Dean is out picking sticks up now.
Rained this morning and now the sun is out and it is 66 degrees.

Sandra, so sorry about the purse snatching.  It is a terrible thing to happen.  A neighborhood down by the University of Akron had 100 cars broken into the other day; police said most likely, the violators were looking for guns in the cars since some cars had broken windows but nothing taken.

Judy, prayers for ML to find some answers.  It must be so frustrating for her.

There were 12 young people and one older one getting baptized on Sunday night.  It was so heartwarming to hear their stories and see them baptized.  (Their church does the full water dunking and the preacher was pretty wet .)

We had a "celebration" dinner and brownie sundaes after the ceremony and then I wanted to head home since severe storms were predicted.  I do not like to ride/drive in the pouring rain.  Thankfully we made it home an hour before the storm hit.

Devonne, so sorry your dr appointment was a bust.

Quiet day here; just went to the grocery store and got some necessary supplies.  I plan on pork chops and cooked apples for supper.  I had several apples that were getting old, so I cooked them down.  They will be good with pork chops.

Nothing else to say, so will talk to you all later.

[size=150]Good day all.

Trish, continued wishes for Megan's speedy recovery.  Thanks for the link on the bowls.  I wondered what it was exactly.  Looks like fun and any age could do it.

Sandra, sorry you are on a losing streak in bingo.  I never had any luck with that game.  I like playing it, but am a  most of the time in it.    I need to go through my closets and get rid of most of my clothes in them.  I had lots of nice outfits I wore to work and now just hang around the house so no need for them.  I donate to my local thrift shop and to my church clothes pantry.  The pantry is free to all, but the thrift shop does charge.  It is a Mennonite shop and the profits go to pay for members' health bills, so I don't mind giving to them.

Theresa, hope your mom is all settled in now.  It sure had been a horrible ordeal.  Hooray for Luke getting his job back!!  He has worked so hard for it and that entire situation was nonsense.  Good luck on getting Simba neutered.  Aaron never did get Bosco neutered because he  could only find one vet who would do it and he wanted $1500!!  That included a "stomach tacking" that they do recommend for the giant dogs.  It also seems nobody wants to give a dog that size anesthesia.  So, he kept putting it off and now the dog is almost 5 years old.  He is a goofy, friendly and not too active dog, so not sure neutering would help him.  Although, other dogs seem to get their hackles up when he is around and I think it is because he is not neutered.

Patty, what a great idea on the infusion center!!  My dear friend went through breast cancer chemo in a center and she asked me to make her a throw for that exact reason.  She said she was so cold during treatment.  I do have a couple within 30 minutes of my house, so I will check into it for sure.

Devonne, your cherry tree is lovely.  I am sure you ba

Janet, that quilt is a stunner!!!  I love your colors.  Was the center a panel? Needlework?  How was it made; I can't figure it out by the picture.  What size is it?    Thanks for sharing.  I love to see all the projects you all do.

Dean and I had leftovers from Texas Roadhouse for lunch today.  We ate late, so just nibbling for supper.  We don't care for huge meals these days and would rather graze smaller bits at a time.

Thanks for the suggestions for a new project.  I did check with my local children's hospital and they are now taking handmade blankets once again.  When covid hit, that all ended.  They want the ones for the NICU premies to only be 30 x 36 so those are easy to do.  Those are my favorites.  The ones for the childrens' ward they would like to be at least 48 x 48 inches.  I am making a pattern I have done a few times; it is a Project Linus free pattern and it is ice cream cones paper pieced and alternate squares of bright fabric or cute patterned fabric.  Thanks to Carol, I love to paper piece now.  She was a secret santa to me years ago on the HGTV board and sent me a paper pieced booklet.  I have used it many times.

Amelia and Gabriel made it to Florida, so I hope they have a grand time.  It will be weird having an entire week without them.

I just gathered up many of my old quilting magazines, pattern books and some left over yarn balls and took them to my local senior center.  They welcome all of that stuff, so I hope somebody can use them.  I did not part with any of my fabric.

[size=150]Happy spring, all!!  I am ready for it even though we did not have a terrible winter.  It had some cold, cold days, but not much snow in my area.  My daffodils are blooming and look so festive.  My lilacs and azalea bushes have fingernail sized buds, so they will be out soon.  Spring is my favorite time of year with all the new blooms and freshness.

Amelia and Gabriel are on the way to Florida with their mom.  They drove all night. She was supposed to pick them up at 4:30 p.m. from us last night but did not get  here until 8:50 p.m.   We were afraid that she was at a bar, but Amelia called her and she was getting hair extensions put in and dying her hair.  Kids were very upset because she always does this.  Then they had to go to a repair shop and pick up her car and then pack the luggage to go.  Such poor planning.  However, they did get going and are now in South Carolina about to enter Georgia.  Gabriel said he was not counting on this trip until they reach their condo in Orlando as he knows his mom will find a way to cancel.  Thank goodness she did not and they will be gone all week for spring break.  They are going to Universal Studios.  We have never been there, but have been to Disney and Epcot.

It is rather cool once again and cloudy, but it is the typical pattern here.

Sandra, sending good vibes for your doctor appointments.  I, too, HATE going to them.  My cardiologist is a tiny little women (Dr Mayuga) and she is so warm and caring, but I still get that dreaded "white coat syndrome" as my blood pressure usually shoots up high in her office.  I see her in May just for a routine follow up.

Judy, good to hear your doctor appts went well.  I imaging Howard is relieved to be driving again.  Dean almost always drives when we go places.  The younger people are different; Emmily drives up from Columbus if they are in "her car" and Anthony drives if they are in"his van".Â

Judy, Dean and I tease each other all the time.  We are so sarcastic that others would think we were spatting.  We laugh and laugh and have for years.  Thank goodness we have the same sense of humor.  Out two boys picked up on it also, but unfortunately, both wives do not have the same humor and sometime it falls on deaf ears or they get bewildered looks.    We are a goofy family.

Janet, good luck on the organizing.  I really should do the same, although, I have very little compared to you. I have maybe 3 large totes, 3 small ones and some things in my sewing room closet. (Batting, unquilted tops, works in progress, etc)  I have lots of patterns that I have never used or no longer use, so I should donate them.

Nothing else to say here, so wishing you all a good evening.

Devonne, I forgot to wear green also.  Well...I guess there is a little on the flower leaves on my t shirt, so I guess that counts.  We do not partake in the St Paddy's Day stuff.

We had some really heavy rain and some high winds.  Lots of branches down, but that was all.  Cool and sunny today so it seems warmer than it really is right now.

I have been making small kid sized quilts but nothing difficult; lots of easy patterns or scraps.  Nothing that takes a lot of brain power or figuring.  Plus, I don't have to choose colors, which is difficult for me.  Scrappy works.  I did do a scrappy butterfly one and will make another.  Not sure if I posted a picture, but it was cute.

I used to take my finished quilts to Joann's and Project Linus would pick them up.  I need to email the Project Linus rep in my area and see if she has a different drop off point.  I have 10 small quilts ready to go.

Sandra, I make a dish very similar to your 4 layer one, but I put a prepared box of Stove Top stuffing or make some stuffing from the packaged bread cubes, on the top.  Dean loves it and it is EASY.  Speaking of easy, I made scrambled eggs and toast for supper as Dean is not feeling the greatest.  It is unusual for him to get sick, but he was around Aaron and must have picked up a bug.  He does not want to eat when he doesn't feel well.

I sat outside for a while today and watched the trees sway back and forth in the wind.  It is pretty warm, 60 degrees, but expected to have high winds and cooler tonight.   The Mississippi and Alabama areas seem to be getting hit hard once again with tornadoes.  Prayers for those in the path.

Judy, hope you feel better soon.  Aaron said he is feeling terrible today, so he must have picked up a bug.  His immune system is very weak and he seems to get anything and everything that comes along.  I hate March Madness; I don't even like basketball at all.

We had left overs for supper (beef tips in gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans) and it was just as good today as yesterday.  Now I am done with it.  Two days in a row is plenty for me.

Amelia and Gabriel asked for crab legs and shrimp, so I told them I would make it tomorrow for lunch after church.  Aaron does not like seafood of any sort, so he can just relax at home.  I made the crab legs in my instant pot last time and they came out great, so will do that again.  My house stinks all day, but the kids love the crab, so I make it.

I tried to listen to an audio book today.  I found myself looking around and my mind wanders, so I missed most of it.    I guess I need a "real" book or an ebook.

Devonne, oh, that Sampson was a beauty.  LOL at the Andy Taylor dream.  I love that show and watch it mostly every day.

Judy, get well soon.  It has been a terrible season for RSV, flu and colds in our area.  This yo-yo weather does not help.  Today was 60 degrees again.

Sandra, thank you for the anniversary greeting!  Dean and I have been married 49 years.  Some days seem like forever, others no so much.  Time has flown by.  We have known each other since elementary school as he was one grade ahead of me in our little town.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PATTY!!!
