This is the quilt

Cool and breezy here this morning.  Curtains are moving, so is the smoke outside.  I can't see it but smell it almost always when the doors are open.  Hard to deal with it when you're allergic.

 Bill & Mary Leigh are in the air, over Nebraska on their way to landing in Salt Lake City.  As much as I complain about  new-fangles, I love being able to check their flight and even see where at they are.    They will not leave the state of Utah, planning to visit several of the National Parks there,  this week.  When she leaves I always get this heart pang, but am very careful to stay upbeat and encouraging.  Of course, I want them to be able to travel as long as they can.  

While I haven't posted much, I've had Holly on my mind and am glad it's over and she's recovering, nicely.  And, I know Ralph will take the best care of her...

As will Cheryl for Dean, who'll be home soon, if he's not already.  Glad  you're enjoying the quilt. 

Trish, I agree with QB. Your quilt it stunning.  Thanks for the picture.  This will be a poignant week for you and yours with all the "lasts" for Dean.  With John, you still had Dean's coming up but now it's truly the last time-s.  What comes next for him and when?  I assume he'll have some down time for a bit.   The 'push-pull' of emotions can feel a bit overwhelming.  But, in the end, we wouldn't trade them...

HOPE HOLLY AND DEAN ARE DOING WELL.

DIDN'T GO TO MY SIS' TODAY. HAD SOMETHING NEEDED TO DO. HOPE TO SPEND TOMORROW AFTERNOON WITH HER. HAVE HER LAUNDRY DONE. HOPE SHE WILL WAIT A WHILE LONGER BEFORE SHE DOES HER LAUNDRY. WASHER AND DRYER ARE IN BASEMENT. SHE CAN BE TOO INDEPENDENT FOR HER OWNE GOOD AT TIMES.

TEMPS Have been about 10 DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. HUMID TOO. I AM NOT ANXIOUS FOR WINTER, BUT I SURE TO WISH FOR SOME LOWER TEMPS AND MUCH LESS HUMIDITY.

OUR TEMPS ARE 60S DAYS AND 40 NITES NOW.  NICE.   SUN IS SHINING.

SAW MY HEART DR THIS MORNING.  YES, I WILL GET A PACE MAKER.  MY HEART DROPS TO LOW RATE NOW AND THEN AND I FEEL TIRED.  HE SAID THEY HAVE PILLS TO SLOW HEART DOWN  BUT NOT TO SPEED THEM UP SO PACE MAKER IS NEEDED.  NO BLOOD THINNER MEDS THO.  SO THAT'S GREAT NEWS.  HE SUGGESTED I GO FOR THE PACE MAKER.  HE WOULD DO THE SAME FOR HIS OWN MOTHER WITH MY RYTHYMS.   I HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE WHEN HE CAN GET ME SCHEDULED.  IT SHOULD BE IN 1 TO 3 WEEKS TIME.  IN AND OUT.  2O-MINUTE PROCEDURE.  IF I HAVE IT DONE EARLY IN THE DAY I CAN GO HOME BY SUPPERTTIME.  IF IN THE AFTERNOON I HAVE TO STAY OVERNITE.  SO THAT'S MY NEWS LADIES.

MY DAU TTOOK HOME THE BUNDIES AND SOME OTHER STUFF.  SHE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO EATING THEM.
I HAVE BOTH SPARERIBS AND STEAK DEFROSTING.  I WILL MAKE THEM IN TOMATO SAUCE TOGETHER AND HAVE SOME KIND OF PASTA WITH THEM IN A DAY OR TWO.
I HAVE SOME SOUP LEFT AND A COUPLE OF BUNDIES FOR ME SO I AM GOOD FOR MEALS.

Back quickly.

Hoping all the best for Holly and Sandra with their heart issues.  

So many of you are struggling with family issues.  I can only hope and pray that everything improves.  

It's been really busy here.  I inherited the doll club library.  The woman who had it is downsizing and doesn't have room for hundreds of books and patterns.  Neither do I, but somehow I managed to fit about half the inventory into my studio.  That involved moving everything and putting some things in the "needs to find a new home" pile.  The rest of the books and patterns ended up in my living room and I made the ladies come take everything.  We had books of really cute dolls with the directions and measurements in Japanese!  Geez, no.  So, that was part of the summer.  I'm now in the process of doing an inventory of everything.  

We also inherited a dog.  He's 4 years old, 11 pounds of holy terror, and as cute as a button.  His owner fell and broke her hip.  After three months in the hospital and rehab, she's home, but she cannot take care of him right now.  So, we have Cody.  He's very entertaining, but having to walk a dog multiple times a day is wearing, especially in this heat.  Yes, we have a doggy door.  Yes, he knows how to use it.  No, he doesn't always use it when he should.  Grrrrr.  Glen is totally besotted with this little guy.  

My biggest issue has been my HQ 16.  It's 22 years old.  The last time the technician came out, he tried to upsell me on a new machine.  Or, upgrade this one.  $1,000 for a new computer module that may or may not solve the timing issues.  $2,000 for new rails and bars.  After all of that, it might never run as well as a new machine.  New comparable machine, even without the ProStitcher computerized module, is $16,000.  I can't do that.  So, now I'm looking at some of the smaller frames that use domestic machines.  I'm not looking to move my Janome on and off a fold-up frame.  I can afford a new machine dedicated to quilting.  Grace Co. has a setup that looks interesting.  HQ just came out with a competitive piece.  So, I guess a trip to the machine place is in my future.  

The only travel in my near future is a possible trip to Asheville in late December to see Biltmore dressed up for Christmas.  I could stop in Atlanta and bother Theresa and then kidnap my sister and take her up there.  It's only in the thinking phase at the moment.

Dollmaking is still in my thoughts.  We're currently working on a cat, not our usual milieu, but this one is rather fancy.  Several of the ladies keep saying that they want to do it.  Then they don't.  So, I decided that Sunday Play Group is going to do it.  Yikes!  Now I'm in charge.

CAROL.......HOW NICE TO SEE YOU POSTING.  I ALWAYS LOVED THE DOLL PICS YOU POSTED.  IS THAT WHAT YOU DO MOST THESE DAYS?  GOOD LUCK WITH A NEW QUILTING MACHINE.  YOU MAKE SO MANY QUILTS YOU NEED A GOOD ONE.

JANET......I GUESS THE  SOUTH IS CALLING YOU BACK.  I KNOW YOU DON'T LIKE THE COLD.  YOU NEED TO GO NORTH DURING THE HOT SUMMER MONTHS INSTEAD OF NOW.

DEVONNE....I HOPE THEY FIND OUT WHY EM'S FATHER IS ALWAYS PASSING OUT.  OF COURSE THE HEAT DIDN'T HELP THIS LAST TIME.

I STILL HAVE SOME LEFTOVERS TO FINISH TODAY AND WITH SOME FRESH SALAD I AM GOOD FOR MEALS.  WITH BINGO TOMORROW NITE I PLAN TO MAKE THE SAUCE AND MEATS ON THURSDAY.  I CAN MAKE ITALIAN SUBS TOMORROW.

TIME TO GET IN MY LAPS BEFORE DROPPING IN FOR COFFEE MORNING.  JUST TO CHAT AND FIND OUT WHAT'S NEW, NOT TO EAT.  I HAD MY YOGURT FOR BREAKFAST ALREADY.

The power went out at 1:00 am and didn't come back on until 10:30 am. Did you know the food in your fridge is only safe for 4 hours? It's much longer for the freezer (if you don't open the door). I haven't opened either all day.

I will be losing a lot of food. Milk, cheese and ground beef that hasn't been opened, plus cottage cheese I just bought, chicken salad and lots of meat. I'm glad this happened before I left.

Carol, it's good to see you posting! Are you still working at the ballpark? I went to Biltmore in 1997. I would love to see it at Christmas time. I hope you can find an affordable long arm replacement. 

Janet, what a wonderful trip every year for you & Jerry. Have you ever been at Christmas time or the weather is too bad?
