SANDRA they are funny!!! Too sad to lose both Dolly & Tim Curry in a day, I loved him in Clue, (plus he was fantastic in Rocky Horror)  he was so funny, he played some quite different roles, he was in a Criminal Minds episode and he was SCARY, awful character, he did it well.

DEVONNE YIKES 23,000, I just can't imagine, how do they do drop off and pick up?? So many, I guess it's like a small city. I hope he enjoys it.  Hope Gracie is OK, they are having issues with Oscar at the moment, I saw him this afternoon he seemed ok, was racing around, he had tummy issues (and the other end LOL ) I suspect he might have either eaten something outside or been bitten by something, John stayed home from Uni today to make sure he was OK.

SANDRA hope you get some good results from the heart monitor, my Dr had to change my BP meds, but now I think it might be too low, I will do some more checks in the next few days, it was low today. Always something isn't it

HOLLY we will be having your temps next week, it's been cool nights, and warm days, but next week it will be early summer for a few days LOL I dislike those  temps, I have also got to use more from the freezer, I found some bacon - used that up for chowder tonight. I understand about the school - the boys has grown to almost 3,000, but they have new buildings to cater for them, it was only 2,000 when John started. The new buildings are great, Dean won't see the last ones, but it doesn't bother him LOL

INDY shame you never got to Dollywood, I don't know anything about it, guess it's like Elvis's property? Julie went there, she said it was interesting, like a museum. I hope the clean up is closer to getting done for everyone, and that your power is on, maybe they had to cut it off to do repairs? Enjoy lunch!!

It's been warmish today, still a cool wind blowing, I picked up Dean after training. And I have received the book I ordered from Jen Kingwell, it has recipes as well as patterns. I have been playing with a jelly roll I picked up at camp, it's all blues and creams, I have wanted to do something like that for a while, I sorted them out and it may work for one of Julie's patterns, I will need a little extra, final decisions when I go the LQS to see what they have to match it, it's an old range, but blue is difficult to match, it's a dull blue, called Indigo Blooming (Moda) .

The Mr is still coughing, he has spots in his lungs, he will need further scans, but it looks like it's treatable, can't worry about it too much till we know what it is, he has had exposure to asbestos many years ago, and it's possibly related, his specialist has it all documented and he sees him again next month. He has had pneumonia so many times his lungs are badly scarred from that too.

I need to tackle my sewing things, I just dumped them last weekend, and I did just toss a few things around before I went LOL So tomorrow that will be my task
 

Ladies, I meant 2,300 students, lol! I can see why you thought it was like a city. It is huge though. Greg doesn't get in the line for pickup. He parks and Carter walks to the car...it's really close!

I threw away a bunch of out of date spices. I organized my pantry a few months ago, but I never had time then to go thru all the spices. I got half of the island cleaned, and had to take a break. This back pain is for the birds! I will take two Tylenol so I can finish the kitchen and get my trash out.

Do any of you play June's Journey? It's frustrating when you can't go to the next level because you have to buy from the shop. I don't like for my "private island" to be so crowded, but they make you buy things to continue playing.

Devonne, even 2,300 sounds like a large school to me.  The school that I graduated from and where I also taught had about 500 students.  When you asked about June's Journeys, I sort of did a double take.  There is a travel agency in a nearby town called Jane's Journeys and, at first, I wondered how you knew about it!

Trish, Dollywood is an amusement park.  There are some rides, some demonstrations of local crafts such as glass blowing, and quite a few music shows.  I think many members of Dolly's family work there.  The whole town is a tourist destination.  A couple of my favorite places are a Christmas shop and a great restaurant owned by people who have an apple orchard.  Many of the items on their menu are made with apples, such as apple fritters.  

Like some of the rest of you, I have been trying to use up some of the older foods in my freezer.  Last night I had  chicken fajita soup, tonight I chicken/vegetable stir fry, and tomorrow morning I will have a waffle. 

I've been using that same idea with quilt fabrics too - trying to use what I have as much as possible without buying a lot.  However today I shopped!  As I was straightening closets last week, I realized I have two tops completed that I had forgotten about.  So today I bought backings for them.

Judy, how wonderful that you and Howard had good help cleaning up from the storms.

Good Morning,

It is a cool one today, only in the 60s but mostly sunny.  Tomorrow will be warmer and totally sunny - weather dudes say it is the pick of the weekend.

Tim got the house and garage stained this summer.  Took a lot of stain and the garage needs another coat but that is a project for next spring/summer.

My garden on the deck is working.  We've gotten some cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and yesterday our first large tomato.  Tons of fruit on the vines so I'll be watching for frost so we can cover and extend the season some.

Next week's quilt guild program is showing how to do the manx block.  It is traditionally hand sewn and pretty much like a log cabin.  Should be a good project for scraps.  I need to pull together suggested supplies.  Not sure weather it will be a 'one of' or not.

Our little grocery store had apples...first of the season macintosh.  They are not real big but are the first 'good' apples we have had since we went to FL.    Somewhere around here there are some orchards.  I want to explore to see what other varieties they have.  I don't think the macs will hold for long.  Hooray for good apples.

Indy, sorry to hear of all the storm issues in your area.  Certainly not a lot of fun.  One of the FL hurricanes left our area without power for several days.  Not fun either and at that time we had a gas powered generator.  Almost impossible to find as the gas stations which opened were also running on generators.  We could not run the whole house a/c but we had water and refrigeration.

Well I need to go see if I can find the suggested supplies for that manx block.  Wish me luck.

CHERYL good to hear Dean is doing OK, it will be hard for him being so tired after being so active. Soup you make is good, he will enjoy that. 

DEVONNE I am glad the numbers are less that is a lot better, a lot of our high school have big numbers, they don't have security, but they do have fences and exit from the gates, but you have to be cleared for entry as a visitor -   the kids do have to sign out if they leave early, including when they are supposed to leave early after exams, just to be legally not liable for them. 

SANDRA how is the food thief?? Any more news - if it is still happening I would suggest a message to every room to make sure that everyone is aware that food in that fridge is NOT for taking. Do your kids see each other much, I know Matt does a lot for you, and Gina helps when she can, wondering if they ever get together.

JANET Hope the new machine gets there soon, what did you get?

HOLLY our humidity will be high next week, not looking forward to higher temps in the week, guess spring has really sprung  here

MARYLOU thanks for the info on dollyworld, not what I imagined LOL I guess it would be fun though!

I spent time at the LQS today, I got the cheap jelly roll, and of course nothing really to match it, finally found something that will work, and I plan to cut tomorrow, I still have lots of unfinished work, but Julie is away from next wed, so our next class will be Oct, I need some things to keep me going. 

Nothing else happening here, it's been a slow day, Dean spent last night camping rough for Vinnie's sleep out, little devil, he and another 5 of his friends stayed in the common room playing cards all night, he had his sleeping bag in the cardboard "tent" they supply to let them see what the homeless deal with, didn't work in their case, the teacher on duty just laughed LOL, he said there are always some who just stay up all night -  so he wanted to sleep all today, Megan made him get up after 4 hours nap she's a mean mother  !!

 

I sold my queen size bed frame...so glad that is gone! 

Greg is on the way to trim my hedges and we will go grab some lunch, probably Outback if they are still there! 

Last of the laundry is in the dryer.
