Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

STRINGS that is not fun! I hate going to the dentist, and having to go back again would really annoy me (((hugs)))

SANDRA so sorry for Gina, my thoughts and prayers are with her, hope she feels better soon (((hugs))) I =19.5pxknow you will figure out what it needs, maybe some parmesan?? It's salty as well as a nice flavour.

DEVONNE and THERESA I use a whey protein, it's an aussie brand, and really good (although expensive ), I mix it with water, just 1/2 cup, then put my espresso shot into it, it's kind of warm coffee, but I'm so used to it I don't notice any more, in summer I can do cold espresso, make it earlier and fridge it, I also have a strawberry flavoured one I can just mix with water or add to a smoothie, the main one is vanilla, I use it in smoothies too, only once a day, but occasionally if the need is there I can do 2 serves, but Sara insists no more than that.

I wonder if our lamb is different, they are all pasture grazed, wonder if that makes a difference, or is it just that if you have it as a child you like it  I know NONE of you would like Vegemite it's definitely an acquired taste, but we have it as babies. A friend who came from England said her 1st daughter didn't ever have it as a child, but her 2nd was born here and had it always , the 1st hates it!!

I think we can all  agree on haggis/black pudding, chitterlings and scrapple

Dean was back in class today, I thought he might be early, but he was normal time, the Mr picked him up, I went to Aldi, they had some cookware from Steph De Sousa, how stupid, the round pan can only go to an oven temp of 200 C max ( about 400F)  I bake bread at 225C some do 240C to start and turn it down, quite expensive too, so I passed on those, Megan was interested too.

I'll have an early start tomorrow, his alarm will go off at 5am, crazy, they only have a 4 1/2 hour drive time, can't get into the motel till 1pm, honestly, these guys couldn't organise a cook raffle.

Hope to get a nap in later, but the boys will be here so maybe not!
My Garmin watch and App has been playing up, I disconnected  and restarted both it and the App, seems to be OK now, they were not talking to each other so I had no data to see on my phone, the watch will show me, but I can't always see that info clearly. The watch usually pings at me to move very hour, and I hadn't realised it wasn't doing that till  checked the App, darn technology!!

See you later!

(((hugs))) and prayers

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

STOP THE PRESSES!
1.  THE SUMMARY OF INFORMATION CONTAINS TOTALS OF THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS BROKEN DOWN BY SEX, MARITAL STATUS, AND AGE.
2.  WITH 23 1/2 PINTS, THE TWO LADIES WERE HIGH PLAYERS IN FOUR TABLES OF DUPLICATE BRIDGE.

ANOTHER LOVELY DAY.  TOO BAD I HAVE TO STAY HOME.  BUT I CAN GO OUT AND SIT ON THE PATIO IF I LIKE.  WATCH THE TOMATOES GROW.  SOME ARE STARTING TO GET A BIT PINK.

TRISH.......THANK YOU, GINA IS A BIT BETTER BUT NOT WELL YET.  IT TAKES TIME.
ON THE SPAGHETTI FRONT, I ADDED SOME PARMESAN TO MY PORTION OF SPAGHETTI WHEN I ATE IT.   I THINK THE BIGGEST FLAW IN THE RECIPE IS IT CALLED FOR 2 CANS OF TOMATO SOUP.  I COULD SMELL THE SOUP BAKING.  THE FLAVOR NEEDED MORE THAN TOMATO SOUP.  REPLACING IT WITH TOMATO SAUCE SHOULD IMPROVE IT GREATLY.

TONITE IS BINGO NITE.  I AM HAVING A WONKY DAY TODAY SO WILL REST UP SO I CAN GO AND TRY TO WIN SOME BUCKS AGAIN.  THE CHORES CAN WAIT TIL NEXT WEEK.
THAT'S THE LATEST FROM ME.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

Yesterday I finally had enough of my lawn guy so there was disappointment, anger and frustration. I have put up with him putting off cutting my grass for a long time. Last Tuesday I told him my grass needs cutting. He came yesterday, a week later. It was 10" (or more) higher in some areas. The last time he didn't weedeat close to my house. I texted him and told him to be sure to do that area. He didn't and he also left areas not weedeated in the corners, which makes my yard look unfinished. I texted him and told him to come back and finish weedeating, that I am paying him to cut my grass and weedeat. I haven't heard from him. He also said the vine growing on my fence is poison ivy and he would bring spray to kill it and "not charge me anything" since I had to wait so long on him to get here. Again, he offered no explanation as to why he was so late. He works full time and I think he has too many customers. I knew this was coming, I just didn't know when. I hate conflict, but I had no choice. I wasn't going to let him get away with half weedeating my yard.

I have been doing a lot of research on protein powders. I was so surprised at all the class action lawsuits and the unclean things put in them (heavy metals, pesticides, artificial fillers, etc). The only two brands I have read are clean is Transparent Labs and Momentous. I ordered Transparent Labs and hope it's ok. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for, right?

Theresa, there is a 2026 class action lawsuit against the Ordain sold at Costco. You might want to look it up.

Janet, I like waffles better than pancakes. Today I bought the Birch Blenders mix because it has low carbs. I like French Toast, but I never think about fixing it. What do you eat for breakfast, or do you skip it?

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

Sandra, how about a jar of pizza sauce instead of some of the soup? It would add some seasoning.

Devonne, your lawn guy sounds like he’s overbooked. As for Caleb’s travel teams, someone makes money off those! The cost is ridiculous and add travel expenses.

I just put in my Walmart grocery order for tomorrow. Tonight we’re having ham slices and some vegetable, I have to decide which one.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

I had more than half a post written yesterday when it disappeared.  Touched "something" while on a phone call...and poof!  Sometimes I can get it back but not usually...

QB, as far as you getting our names mixed up, no worries.  It's called being human.  I read a long time ago that humans are more inclined to err than to do something right.  I fall into that category,  too often.    Glad to hear Gina is a bit better.  That old Lyme's Disease has wreaked havoc on many.

We don't eat lamb, but I do like lamb chops and leg of lamb, and would if not for this:  When Howard was deer hunting years ago, we would, of course, end up with a lot of venison.  I'm ashamed of this, and even though I was willing, my 'flesh was weak' and since I really didn't care much for it, it would lay in the freezer and go to waste while I carried on buying other meats for our meals.  He points that out from time to time so I don't buy any lamb, with it's more gamey taste, that would bring up that rather contentious reality, which I do regret.
Like Theresa, I like gyros (which H. won't eat) and often order it.  Trish, I would imagine most sheep are grass eaters rather than grains, everywhere, so maybe the taste IS something you need to start with early.   I've wondered about Vegemite!

As a child, I was an extremely picky eater and Grandma was big on making head cheese  and even cooking pork kidneys.  We had no pigs, but my aunt and uncle raised them so Grandma had a source.  Use your imagination as to what the house smelled like when she was cooking kidneys!   They weren't served to Mom, Gramp and me so I guess she ate them, herself.    The others ate the head cheese,  but like Holly, I wouldn't even try it, due to its looks.  Those things and something phonetically called "soupen bry", a Dutch soup made with barley cooked in buttermilk to which they added syrup, was equally disgusting and it smelled like hot sour milk. Thankfully, she seldom made THAT!  I was spoiled and never made to eat anything.  I was also skinny and sickly, pale with dark circles.

As for now, I wouldn't eat scrapple or haggis.  I have eaten raw oysters which were okay with cocktail sauce but wouldn't now  due to fear of  possible contamination.   We both like most sea food  but have never had octopus, squid  or raw sushi.  I love, love lobster and if I was Queen, I'd ask for it every day!

It' quite cool, sunny and breezy here today.  Doors open but  I'm in long sleeves.  Howard ate lunch with the ROMEOS and shopped a bit at Menard's.  Times has sure changed.  Besides a few small guy things, he got jelly and p. chips.  I enjoyed my alone time, as usual.

Linda, I understand being irked at having to go back for a cleaning that requires you to make all those arrangements.  Does seem thoughtless on their part.

Well, time to go.  I've already been asked, "What's for supper" as I am every day.  As if that isn't the million dollar question!  Well maybe not $1,000,000 but tiresome enough.
We have little dabs of a couple of leftovers, so, who knows?

Have a good evening and sweet dreams.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

Hello from the beautiful NEK of Vermont,  We have only had one air quality alert because of the Canadian fires.  I'm surprised since we are so far north but the worst of it has dipped south before it gets to us.  We can smell the smoke however.

Yesterday it was so windy I kept wondering what was going to blow away but other than that a beautiful day.  No rain in sight for a few days.  Hooray.

I recently heard about a craft barn about a half an hour from here.  It is open on Tuesday afternoons so I will try to get there next week to see what it is all about.  Trying to get out and explore before winter comes back.

I've planted some veggies in pots and they all seem happy to be growing in grow bags on the deck.  I see lots of green tomato babies, parsley and chives, also bell pepper and a hot pepper (for Tim).  Cucumber plants are also looking happy.  We have a short growing season so I hope everything ripens ok.

I recently learned that my great grand daughter and her husband are expecting.  Their first child should arrive in January.    I hope I get motivated to get into the sewing room to do a baby quilt.

Food choices....I agree with Holly's list except for Olives, those I do like.

Stay Safe.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

Holly, I agree with you that he is overbooked. Working full time and having a landscaping business on the side has to be overwhelming. I guess the people making all this money is the organization that books all these games/trips. E told me they had to pay $250 just to play a certain local team here. They also have to pay to get in at every game.

Joni, its good to hear from you. Your little veggie "garden" in the pots is what I did last year. I didn't do it this year.

Sandra, I agree with Judy. Don't worry about getting our names mixed up.

I need to get off here and go organize my fridge that I keep putting off. It won't take me long. I have a WM grocery order coming in an hour.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

"Oh how we danced on the night we were wed..." Happy anniversary to Theresa and Todd.  Hope you're having a great day and doing something fun or have or will.  Hugs!

Joni, good to hear from you  from "somewhere"? in Vermont.  That craft barn sounds intriguing. Hope you enjoy it once you get there.  And your our garden sounds interesting and will taste good.

We're having another cool, fallish day.  Such a sudden change, but the hot weather is soon returning.  I surely don't want summer to vanish this soon.  Yesterday, I spotted our interesting and large ground hog in the front yard ambling along the woods.  He's  large  looks wonderfully healthy.  And just now looking at the small yard barn that he lives under, I see he's stunning himself...I got up to turn off a timer and now he's gone.  Guess  I scared him off.

Devonne, sorry you had to get tough with the lawn guy.  I know that's not your nature. and I would hate that, too.  Will it be easy to find another?

Wonder of wonders, Howard has gone upstairs to his den.  I hear some pounding so he must have a project going.  Glad for the peace and quiet down here (no TV on) for however long it lasts.

I have some chicken drumsticks in the crockpot for supper.  Just rubbed them with avocado oil, my first time to use it, and a mixture of Kosher salt, pepper, garlic pwd., onion pwd., and paprika.  Not even any liquid added.  The reviewers all seemed to like it so we'll see if we do.  The last of my potatoes are all very little ones so I think I'll just boil them, cut up a yellow pepper for something fresh and call it done.  I haven't been asked, "What's for supper?", yet!

Have a good remainder of the day and evening.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

Evening y'all!

DS I buy the little jars at Target.  It just affected those that went to Costco, I did look it up.

Thanks for the Anniversary wishes.  38 years today!  We went to Moe's, so exciting I know, but we love it and rarely go there.

Got the paperwork from Louisiana that I needed, scanned and sent it off today.  Now it's back in the companies court.  Hopefully it will be complete soon!

Not much else going on.  I took all of Simba's blankets off the couches and replaced them with sheets I was going to get rid of.  He seems to like the sheets, for summer, better.  Now those blankets are in the washer.

Tried to update the Blog from my phone but it will not let me post pictures without buying premium.  I will try from the laptop, but I need to download the pictures to the computer.

That's everything from my little corner of the world.

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

Linda, mild temps here too, only 81 today. We have rain moving in.

Theresa, glad you didn't get it at Costco. I've bought a lot of protein drinks there by Ordain. Makes me wonder about them too!

Linda, I hope your son's appts. go well for him. It's bad to be a worry wart on top of having a stressful job. Prayers for your sister. Is she married?

Melena, my niece, called me yesterday crying. Shelby hasn't recognized her the last two times she went to the nursing home. She "doesn't know a Melena." She's going today at noon and will let me know how it goes. I don't want to see my sister like this so I'm not going to Indiana. Melena said she would leave today if Mom doesn't recognize her. I told her to talk to the social worker.

Judy, it should be easy to find a new lawn guy. I haven't looked yet. In the meantime, I bought some poison ivy killer, lol.

Where did this week go? Wasn't yesterday Monday, lol?

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

2-HEADED HEADLINES......
1.  LIFE MEANS CARING FOR HOSPITAL DIRECTOR.
2.  HORNETS WILL ACCENT THROWING GAME IN '81.

ITS A LOVELY DAY TODAY.  NOTHING DIFFERENT PLANNED FOR ME.

JONI......GOOD TO SEE YOU POSTING.  LIKE VERMONT, WE IN MAINE HAVE A SHORT GROWING SEASON TOO.  IT SURE IS NICE TO SEE THE TOMATOES AND GREEN BEANS FLOURISHING THO OUR TOMS ARE NOT YET RIPE.

THERESA.......GOOD FOR YOU GETTING DOWN TO THE WIRE ON THINGS.  I HOPE ITS ALL DONE SOON AND YOU CAN PUT IT ALL BEHIND YOU.

DEVONNE.....SORRY FOR THE HEARTACHE ABOUT YOUR SISTER.  ITS TERRIBLY HARD WHEN THEY GET MORE HEALTH PROBLEMS AND THERE'S REALLY NOT ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO HELP.  HUGS FOR YOU.

LINDA.....AND HUGS FOR YOU GIRL  MORE FAMILY ISSUES THAT CAUSE YOU WORRY AND STRESS.

COULDN'T DO MUCH YESTERDAY.  AT RECERTIFICATION I AM SURE MY RENT WILL GO UP SIGNIFICANTLY SINCE I DO NOT HAVE ANY MEDICAL COSTS THIS YEAR.  ITS A BLESSING NOT TO HAVE ANY BUT I FEAR MY GROCERY BILL WILL BE REDUCED.  NOT A PROBLEM SINCE I HAVE WAY TOO MUCH MOST OF THE TIME AND LATELY ME NEIGHBORS HAVE BEEN BRINGING ME SOME THINGS SINCE I MAKE SO MANY CASSEROLES AND DISHES TO SHARE.  MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR SHARON GOES TO THE FOOD BANK TWICE A MONTH.  THEY PHONE HER TO COME.  SHE BRINGS ME SOME NICE THINGS BEFORE SHE PUTS IT ALL OUT ON THE 'FREE' TABLE FOR OTHERS.  THIS WEEK SHE BROUGHT ME FROZEN COUNTRY SPARE RIBS AND PORK CHOPS ALONG WITH FRESH GRAPES, GREEN PEPPERS, DICED TOMATOES, FRESH TOMATOES AND CUKES, AND FRESH FROMTHE HENS EGGS.   I ALWAYS SHARE MY MEALS WITH HER WHEN I MAKE ENOUGH.  YES, I WON'T STARVE ANYTIME SOON LADIES.

OTHER THAN THAT ITS BEEN PUZZLE AND READING TIME WHICH I ENJOY.  I HAVEN'T SEWN FOR A BIT THO, BUT AT CRAFTS I PREPPED MY SAMPLE APRON FOR HEMMING THE EDGES.  THAT I COULD DO BY HAND.  THEY ALSO SERVED A FANCY CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE LAYERS AND PUDDING AND WHIPPED CREAM.  I TOOK ONLY A SMALL PIECE.  DIDN'T WANT TO SCREW UP MY DIET PLAN TOO MUCH.
IT WORKED OUT ALRIGHT THO.  I LOST ANOTHER POUND.  MAKES ME FEEL GOOD.
AS TO MY GRDAU SHE HAD TO GO TO ER SINCE SHE GOT WORSE.  THEY TOOK MYRIAD TESTS AND DETERMINED SHE GOT A TICK-BORNE VIRUS.  SHE'S ON STRONG MEDS AND WAS FEELING A LITTLE BETTER YESTERDAY.  SHE IS THE ONE THAT CAUGHT LYME DISEASE  A FEW YEARS AGO WHICH HAS CAUSED ALL SORTS OF MEDICAL ISSUES THRU THE YEARS SINCE.  PLEASE SAY A PRAYER FOR GINA ONCE AGAIN.

STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S

THE SISTER AT THE TIME WAS IN FORT WALTON BEACH, FL SO QUITE A TRUP FOR MIL, HERE IN VA.

GARY'S DOCTOR VISIT HAD SOME GOOD NEWS. TIGHT MUSCLES IN NECK. THINK HIS HEART GOOD. NEXT WEEK IS HEART DOC FOR ANNUAL CHECK UP.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

We’ve been away for a few days and just back a bit ago.  I have some catching up to do.  My DH, son a DD are all body building/ trainers, etc.  DH was a huge protein powder user….until he read more about them ingredients, etc… many have heavy metals!  The pea powders do little or nothing for muscle growth, etc…read all about it.  My DD still uses one that has been shown to be “clean” but DH hasn’t used any.  Remember that protein alone doesn’t grow muscle with out weight training too.
Lawn guys are a dime a dozen around here and that’s about all they’re worth.  I have hired and fired a lot…or they just never come back after I point out what they agreed to do but don’t.
Time to unpack, etc …back later

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

A very belated HAPPY ANNIVERSARY THERESA & TODD ((((HUGS))))
I am glad you have now progressed further, it has taken such a long time, you must be so sick of it all by now!

SANDRA oh no poor Gina, I do hope she is better soon, sounds like it might be something that affects her for many years, I don't know much - really nothing  - at all about Lyme, it sounds nasty. I hope the increase is not too much, fingers crossed for you. Both for rent and Bingo!!

JANET I didn't know you were away, hope it was a good trip, we also have many, many protein powders here, mine is Aussie made and owned and no nasty stuff, Sara did lots of research on it. I only have my one a day, but I do weight training and I don't really have enough protein, mine gives 30g of it per serve about 1 ounce.

DEVONNE hope Caleb is doing OK, I didn't know they charged so much for the games, guess they have to pay for the fields, sorry about the lawn man, I know it's frustrating, and it's also tough work outside all day. Sounds like he's just too busy. Sad to hear about your sis (((hugs)))

Well, that posted by itself, couldn't possibly be my fault

INDY a nice simple dinner is good, and yours sounded lovely, hope H enjoyed it!!

I had an accident, my face is a mess, black eye and lots of swelling, somehow fell in the bathroom, I knew it was happening, and I thought I had put myself on the floor, but realised I have fallen the last bit, smashed my face badly. No stitches, But I do look like I have been in a boxing match with an olympic champion
The Mr will be shocked when he gets home, he doesn't know.

The bruising has now become black as well as red, might be a lovely shade of green/yellow in a day or so when he returns

I have been icing it, and just about to head to bed now, didn't realise till this morning that it was as bad. But I couldn't sleep after I picked myself up and went back to bed - probably that was good, I possibly could have concussed my self.

I have done nothing all day, Pete got my seafood salad last night, and there was lots left, so that was dinner tonight as well, I did get a "Too Good To Go' bag as well last night while he got our dinner, there is so much in it, we froze lots, it will be fine if we thaw and then pop into the oven to refresh.

See you tomorrow!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 19 ~ SAT JULY 25

Jeez, Trish! You and Ashley will match!

I put up a blog post. New pic of Boone, my watermelon glasses toppers, my XS.

I just got my Sam’s Club order, we’re set for groceries.  It’s gorgeous out! We slept with the windows open. The feral cats must sense fall is coming, they are eating more.

Trish, Lyme’s is named for a p,ace in Connecticut. It’s tick borne. The tick has to feed for 24 hours to transmit it. A symptom is a bulls eye rash around the site. My niece had it as a teen, and had to get IV antibiotics for weeks. My friend Barbara had it, and left her with arthritis in her knee. Ticks are awful creatures.

Board footera
