IT'S TRUE.......
1. READING WON'T SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS, BUT NEITHER WILL DUSTING. CHOOSE WISELY.
2. I'M TRYING TO DECIDE IF I WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN TODAY.
SAME LOVELY WEATHER TODAY.
ITS THE START OF ANOTHER WEEK. SUMMER IS FLYING BY SO QUICKLY IT SEEMS.
MY SON SHOPPED FOR ME AFTER A 3 WEEK WAIT AND GOT ALL I NEEDED. I WAS IN GOOD SHAPE ANYWAY. I MADE HIM BOTH CHICKEN RICE SOUP AND LITHUANIAN BUNDIES TO TAKE HOME BUT ALSO MADE UP SOME ITALIAN SANDWICHES FOR THEM. HE WAS GOING TO HAVE A COOKOUT LATER AND INVITED HIS COUSINS AND THEIR SPOUSES. I HOPE THEY ALL HAD A GOOD TIME.

We went out for brunch, then Manda packed up and she and the kids were just picked up by the shuttle to the airport. I miss them already!
Trish, my sister in law drinks warm water all the time. Like tea water with just the water.
I’ve been reading about the parasite on produce that has so many sick across the country with the explosive diarrhea that can last from 2 days up to a month! Washing the produce isn’t enough, it has to be cooked. They’re saying avoid bagged salads and fresh produce. One of the M states, I forget which one, has over a thousand people hospitalized with dehydration. I had just bought berries, so I have them soaking in a vinegar and water bath.
We had a nice birthday party for Amary and Garrett at Heather’s yesterday. I made turkey sausage and peppers, and turkey kielbasa and turkey hotdogs in sauerkraut. I was surprised, the turkey kielbasa tasted just like regular kielbasa. Of course Boone was the star of the show. She walks all over and says a couple of words, and is just adorable. She loves the pool.

HOLLY you will miss seeing them! I hadn't heard about the produce problem, you can also use baking soda, and citric acid, but be aware that it (citric) can cause issues for some people. I often use baking soda to wash raspberries and strawberries, I use frozen blueberries LOL cheaper than fresh! I know I can drink warm/hot water, I just don't like it unless it's flavoured with tea LOL -- I could always add lemon or lime to it though and try that hot.
SANDRA sounds like Matt went home NOT hungry LOL It's nice that he had a cookout with family.
And I'm glad he was able to get everything on your list. I did my list today too, I pick it up tomorrow on my way home from training. So easy with doing my order online now, and this week I get extra points - win, win!.
STRINGS I am sorry it's so hot for you still, but winter is coming, and faster than we think!!
I got a lipstick form Amazon, I have been seeing ads for this one that is sort of clear, but makes a colour that is different on everyone I didn't get the REAL brand, it was more expensive, but the packaging looked the same, it was a 2/for deal, so gave one to Megan, she is away with her friends for 2 nights, they all tried it and turns out it was different on each one of them, they used it on their wrists - cheap bit of fun, it's like lip gloss actually, and felt quite nice, doesn't last long on the lip though.
I had pork scotch fillet steaks tonight with roasted veg and steam corn and peas, was OK the meat wasn't as good as usual, maybe my fault, it was still a bit frozen in the middle so cooked it a bit hotter than usual. It fed us though, so all good, and plenty of leftover veg I can add to butter chicken tomorrow night.
Do you ever find you still cook for family that is't there any more, I seem to have cooked way too many roast veg, but it all gets used eventually, and I may as well fill up the tray in the oven LOL
I finished cutting all my strips to take to quilt camp in August, I'm prepared early
, hope I haven't jinxed myself, last time I did early prep I got covid right before camp and couldn't go!

STUDENTS GET IT WRONG.......
1. THE HUMAN IS MORE INTELLIGENT THAN THE BEAST BECAUSE THE HUMAN BRAIN HAS MORE CONVULSIONS.
2. ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION IS WHEN THE FARMER DOES IT TO THE COW AND NOT THE BULL.
SAME LOVELY WEATHER CONNTINUES. NO RAIN EITHER. WE COULD SURE USE SOME.
BOY, I JUST FOLLOWED THE NEWS THIS MORNING AND SAW ABOUT THE PARASITE YOU GALS MENTIONED. I BOUGHT SOME FRESH VEGGIES AND FRUIT THIS WEEK SO I WILL BE GIVING THEM THE VINEGAR/WATER BATH TODAY. CAN'T BE TOO CAREFUL.
I ALSO SAW THAT A FAVORITE ACTOR OF MINE, SAM NEILL PASSED AWAY AT 78. I ALWAYS LIKED HIM, ESPECIALLY AS DR GRANT IN THE JURASSIC DINOSAUR MOVIES.
I SORTED MY MEATS AND FROZE THEM YESTERDAY AND TOOK OUT A PORK CHOP TO DEFROST. THIS MORNING I REALIZED I HAD BOUGHT SOME NATHAN'S ALL-BEEF FRANKS THIS WEEK I NEED TO EAT SO WILL FINISH UP MY BUNDIES AND POTATO SALAD SOMEHOW AND STICK HOT DOGS AND A PORK CHOP ON THE MENU SOMEWHERE.
I WAS BADDDDD YESTERDAY. I WAS TOO LAZY AND JUST SITTING AROUND WATCHING TV. THAT MEANT TOO MUCH TIME TO SNACK WHICH I DID. I EVEN MADE A HOT FUDGE SUNDAE FOR MYSELF. WANTED TO USE UP THE REST OF THE CARTON OF CHOC I HAD IN THE FREEZER. I DARE NOT STEP ON THE SCALE NOW TIL WED. OR EVEN THURSDAY MORNING BEFORE I HEAD FOR MY CHECK-UP.
TODAY I HAVE BOTH MONTHLY CHORES AND WEEKLY ONES SO I WILL NOT BE TEMPTED TO MUNCH.
I HAVE TO CHECK MY BANK STATEMENT THIS MORNING. IT SEEMS THAT THE 3 CHECKS I MAILED OUT BEFORE THE FOURTH'S HOLIDAY HAVE NO YET CLEARED. THAT MEANS MY RENT IS OVERDUE. I WILL CHECK AGAIN WITH THE BANK BEFORE I CALL THE MANAGEMENT OFFICE TO ARRANGE A REPLACEMENT CHECK.
WISHING YOU ALL A FINE DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Trish, the reason for the parasite is political, ridiculous as that sounds.
Last night was our last sunset at 8:30, it will get earlier and earlier now- boo. There is actually a bill being discussed in Congress this week to abolish daylight savings time. It’s been brought up before without a resolution so I don’t really expect any changes.
I miss the little kids, especially after seeing them 3 weekends in a row. I’d forgotten how much a 10 year old boy eats! And how often! They had Rita’s water ice every night, too funny because we have one 6 blocks away, and only get it when they or Steph is in town. Rita’s hasn’t made =26pxits way to the PacNW.
A hot week, to be 100 on Wednesday.

I read this produce parasite starts happening in May and goes thru August. I imagine the sanitation problem for field workers has always been there around our food. Scary!
Caleb was hit in the face by a baseball this weekend. It bounced off a team mate's helmet during a game. He is one lucky boy as it barely missed his eye. After a trip to the ER, 8 stitches later and yesterday he was back at the ball field supporting his team.
It is raining hard now at 11 pm. Had rain earlier too and more tomorrow. Holly, you will be warmer than the South on Wednesday. All this rain is cooling things down.

DEVONNE I saw the pic before postimage removed it, OUCH poor kid that was so close to his eye, and also the eye socket, nasty injury, I do hope he is OK (((hugs)))
SANDRA I have been so lazy lately, I need to have a plan like yours, I used to do all the house on Mondays, but with going out for lunch last week, and this week with appointments, I have had to catch up on the other days, it's messed up my routine!! I need a better plan LOL Don't beat yourself up about the snacking, a day won't hurt too much when you are being so good most of the time, but certainly wait a few days before weighing in (((hugs))) I seem to be able to go off the rails once in a while, then back on again, and it hasn't made much difference.
HOLLY I was wrong about using the baking soda, seems like it's only vinegar and heat that will destroy the parasite, I was mixing it up with just washing for normal dirt/bacteria, I read up on the parasite, so sorry you are all dealing with this now. Especially being summer and wanting more salad type things.
Funny our days are getting longer, but it doesn't seem like it, they are sure getting colder LOL although our solstice is June 23 (or 22? ) for the shortest day - can't remember, we have official start for winter on June 1, but our coldest months are usually July to mid August, then spring on Sept 1, usually we are getting warm by then.
I made butter chicken for us tonight, there is enough for another meal, don't know what I am doing wrong though I cooked rice to go with it and usually it's ready after 12 mins, lately it's taking longer, hope my stove top is behaving, it seems to be boiling ok. Just odd, maybe the rice is different? It's still Basmati rice - maybe I should check the packet directions, will check next time I'm in the store, the rice is in a container with no packaging of course LOL
I sorted out and ironed some fabrics for my friend Paula, I will see her on Friday, and she is almost finished her Dear Jane, I have so much reproduction fabric I sorted out some for her to add more choice. Still hasn't made a dent in my stash. I bought some cheap fabric for my Trentham quilt to add, some light colours and there is lots of it, a small box of the same small vine print in 20 different shades, I will use some of it to make some bowl cosies for my school friends, my friend Coral gave me the idea when she gave us all a small lavender pouch. Something I can make that is useful ![]()
I did get a delivery of a small over the shoulder bag today, a little disappointed as I thought it was a vinyl/leather look alike, but it's fabric, will be ok for travel though, and that's what I bought it for!

MARYLOU and PATTY we haven't heard from you in a while, are you both OK?? We miss you ((((hugs))))

Trish, thanks for asking about me. I’m fine. Although I am 80 years old and have some problems with my heart, I manage to stay busy and be on the go quite a bit. For example, this week in addition to my regular exercise class three times and Monday morning count offering at church, I have a massage tomorrow, house cleaners coming on Thursday, and VBS every evening (I help keep records so am there only about an hour).

STUDENT HISTORY BLOOPERS......
1. THE GOVERNMENT OF ATHENS WAS DEMOCRATIC BECAUSE PEOPLE TOOK THE LAW INTO THEIR OWN HANDS. THERE WERE NO WARS IN GREECE, AS THE MOUNTAINS WERE SO HIGH THAT THEY COULDN'T CLIMB OVER TO SEE WHAT THEIR NEIGHBORS WERE DOING. WHEN THEY FOUGHT WITH THE PERSIANS, THE GREEKS WERE OUTNUMBERED BECAUSE THE PERSIANS HAD MORE MEN.
IT WILL HIT 93 TODAY THEN 60S TONITE. ITS GOING TO BE HOT IN NEW ENGLAND FOR A COUPLE DAYS.
DEVONNE......YOUR PHOTO BY IMAGES HAS NOT SHOWN UP.
SORRY ABOUT POOR CALEB'S INJURY. HE WAS ONE LUCKY LAD. THO 8 STITCHES DOESN'T SOUND TOO GOOD TO ME.
I SOAKED BY VEGS AND FRUITS IN VINEGAR WATER JUST TO BE CAUTIOUS. WILL BAKE A PORK CHOP LATER TO WORK INTO MY MENU TONITE AND TOMORROW.
MY DR APPT WAS CHANGED TO AUG 11TH. MY DAU COULD NOT CHANGE HER HOURS ON THURS TO WORK INTO MY DR VISIT SO SHE CHANGED IT. I GAVE HER PERMISSION TO MAKE AND BREAK MY APPTS AS THEY WORK INTO HER SCHEDULE. I AM FINE WITH THIS CHANGE SINCE I CAN WORK A BIT LONGER ON LOSING A FEW POUNDS MORE.
WELL, OFF TO DO MY LAPS AND DROP INTO COFFEE MORNING TO SEE WHAT'S THE LATEST NEWS. STAY SAFE. HUGD, QB S ![]()

As with many of you, it's hot, hot here, today. Hot enough that Howard power washed the front porch floor which was so bad it looked like no one lives here anymore! Yesterday, we clipped the ivy that was starting to climb onto the porch floor and later ML came over and weeded around the decorative rock near the steps. Then, she barreled right home to jump in the shower fearful that she might have gotten into some 'poison ivy'. I use the ivy clippings placed four fruit jars in plain water that sit in a vintage plant stand, plus some in two other larger containers. The north facing porch gets no direct sun but ivy doen't care and will stay fresh in water until the first freeze. I regret I ever planted it years ago, because of it invasive ways, so it's nice to use it this way. The porch may look better than the rest of the house for my company and they will only pass thru it! ![]()

Devonne, yikes about Caleb. So glad it wasn't worse. Eight stitches is a lot.
QB, I often hope for a reprieve when it comes to doctor appts. Never happens, though. And it's usually in the hopes that I lose a few pounds...which doesn't happen, either. Last time, I refused the weigh in, which you can. But with my personality, I probably suffer more angst than if I just get weighed.
One reason, is they always treat H. and me like Bobbsey Twins and see us at the same time and he's always looking on. Now, he knows approx. what I weigh, but still... I like the eye doctor best, they never weigh you! !
Cheryl, of the six boys next door, several have those old time names, actually Bible names like both your grandfathers. I don't know them well enough, yet, to remember what they are, though. My two grandfathers were Robert and Gurney Frederick. Evidently, Gurney was a Quaker name, because he came from a strong Quaker heritage. Grandma could screech his name loud enough that he could hear her out in the field. Sometimes, when I can't raise Howard, I will do the same, only not "Howard" but Gurney!
Once Gramp got a letter to Gummy Hanson and forever from time to time, she'd call him Gummy! My stepdad was Floyd, another gem. Once he got mail addressed to "Flody" which Mom enjoyed immensily.
Trish, several years ago I got that same deal on the clear lipstick from one of the shopping channels, only I got three. Kept one and gave the other two to ML and Pam. Immediately, ML was allergic to the fragrance and I don't know about Pam's. I still use mine, agree with your assessment of it--more like lip gloss and not long lasting, but I do like it.
Better quit and get busy again. Plus supper's coming up to figure out. Have a great day.

Today is wash all the bed linens, including pad, topper, sheets, down alternative comforter...it's about 4 loads. I always dread it. I thought about ditching my king mattress, adjustable bed base, but it was so expensive. Now I'm going to replace the memory foam with Talalay latex foam and see it it makes a difference. That's still expensive if it doesn't work, around $650, but will be worth it if it works.
Trying this picture again....if it doesn't work, I know what the problem is.

I saw the picture Devonne put up, and it still shows.
Comcast was out for a few hours, so I took a nap! I saw neuro this morning, I don’t have to see him again for a year.
On the way home we stopped at Arby’s and got the meat + 3 deal box. It’ll do us for 2 meals.
It’s 92 here, hotter tomorrow!
One state has determined the parasite is on lettuce, but not the point of origin. They recommend not using bagged salads.

Devonne, so sorry about Caleb's injury. He is young and strong, so he will heal nicely. The picture says it is under review to ensure it is meeting post image guidelines.
Sandra, I love that saying you posted the other day about dusting and reading!!
I will always choose reading, especially over dusting.
Dean finally got his admittance date for his stem cell transplant;
August 16. We are relieved that is is finally scheduled.
Hot and humid again today, but it is better than rain!!
That parasite is most prevalent in Michigan. Ohio does have a few case (less than 10) according to the news, but Dean has been advised by his doctors to avoid eating out at all and not to eat any fruit or veggies unless from a frozen state or cooked. This is "salad season" for us, so it is taking me some planning to do meals.

Cheryl, that's wonderful he has a date scheduled.
The problem with the photo is the extension. I'm going to try and change it.

Devonne, I could see the photo the first time you posted but not the second. Strange!

DEVONNE, SO SORRY ABOUT CALEB GETTING HIT AND INJURED. DID NOT SEE THE PHOTOS.
GOOD NEWS ABOUT GETTING PROCEDURE SCHEDULED. He and
JUST GOT SOME LETTUCE INSTEAD OF BAG SALAD. GOING TO TRY FROZEN BERRIES FOR DARRELL''S CEREAL. SUMMER WHEN I WANT TO EAT FRESH VEGETABLES.
THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS.........
