Would you believe it!!!!Another power failure, I am so angry, I rang and logged complaints, it came back again after a couple hours, they had to set up a generator for our street and the street next to us, it must be costing them heaps, too bad, they had workmen sitting around for 4 days last week, all standing around not doing much, maybe they are waiting for cable, but not our problem, and they could let people know what is happening. Those candles have been valuable.
At least we got takeout tonight, nice fish & chips and a seafood salad for me.
The packing has mostly been done for the Mr, he started yesterday, he makes such a production of it all ![]()
I have the washing up to date, need to buy shoe cleaner tomorrow, my boots look bad, and I can't find the polish!!
It's here somewhere, but no idea where. I will pick some up in the morning, I also have a few bags of grocery type things, water, muesli bars, breakfast porridge, coffee pods, his sweets for the trip, plus the detergent for both washing machine and dishwasher. Nothing major, just bits and pieces, better to take what I have than go purchase when we get there.
I also FINALLY went and got a storage container for the christmas tree, I had one from Aldi, but it's soft packaging and I need a box, so got a plastic storage one, the tree is now packed in it and just waiting for us to move cars to go on the shelving in the garage. one more item ticked off for me ![]()
I packed some knitting, and some Sashiko to take, and now I just need to pack my things, will take me about 20 mins LOL I have a list of things, I always take too much, this time we'll also be in funeral clothes, they can get packed to come home.
I need to get to the bank tomorrow as well, I want to get plenty of cash to take, I dislike using my card for small purchases when travelling, unless it's the travel card, and I haven't loaded it up, so not taking it, maybe I can check it after here, if they are still usable I might load some cash on for emergency use.
My toiletries are organised, and I just need to decide what to wear to the funeral, I love a sweater I have, but it's black with silver sparkles randomly on it and I wasn't planning on wearing black, so still undecided.
It's been cold today, I have been really feeling it all day. I baked sourdough this morning, I was worried about it, I knew the starter wasn't at it's peak - but it turned out, guess you really can't do too much bad to it after all ![]()

Wow Trish…so busy so early in the morning. Sashiko travels well. I always have a project with me.
I just came in from brushing the pool. I was out there at 7:30am. Wanted to do it before it got too hot. Plus we’re supposed to have severe Tstorms late today. DH is still sleeping.🙄

Gary’s tv went out. I met them at Walmart and paid for a Vizio 75”. I bought them some stuff for their kitchen, but I wanted to get them something nicer, something they needed. It came a huge downpour when I was in there. I found some Italian meatballs with sauce that I really like. They are not in the frozen section, made by Mama Mancini’s. I definitely recommend them.
I posted the crockpot cube steak and gravy recipe on the recipe thread. It’s very similar to how you make smothered pork chops.
I’ve been busy putting things together. I got the shelf unit done and got it in my closet and I bought another grill table I put together last night. It’s a lot better than the first one I bought. Hopefully, nothing else to put together anytime soon.
Today is also my day of rest. I’ll be watching TV the rest of the day.

Sandra- the water temp is only 72 right now…too cold for me! I too love the beach. Wish we were living there instead of here…

It's quiet here today! I mean online, NOT home, LOL
Te Mr is redoing one of my kitchen drawers, he decided it's too crowded for him, I walked away, he can do what he wants, no point arguing.
DEVONNE we had meatballs tonight too! They were already made, I just cooked pasta. Very good, and a quick easy meal - wow!! 75" is big, ours is only 55", he wanted to go big, but I wouldn't do it. Some battle I will fight LOL
SANDRA you are most welcome, I wold really miss you all if we didn't come here to chat, too funny today Alaskan Hussy LOL enjoy your day today and your darling boys company!
JANET It was a bit late when I posted, it was after 8pm I think. I had to wait till we got power back, the generator down the street is huge! Has to be I guess to power so many homes. I will be glad to get away tomorrow, hopefully everything will be back to normal when we get back.
I packed today, it should have taken me about 20 mins but I kept getting interrupted. I finally talked him onto putting his meds into 'daily/weekly dispenser' type containers. I had a couple spare, he had huge bottles of pills ready to pack, and I suspect he was going to try to get them into our overnight bag, which I keep small on purpose. I did get to the store and got shoe polish, and a few extra things I needed. Also to the bank ATM to get cash out, AND I found our travel cards, so have made sure the PIN nos are Ok, and I can load up with cash if we need them.
If we are travelling on planes etc we have to take meds in original packs, but travelling by ourselves I sort them all into how many days we are away, so much smaller to pack.
I have the food things I want to take, I just need to add butter and my frozen english muffins into the bag before we leave, I can put the butter into the motel fridge overnight.
They have been putting up a new back deck next door, we have been calling the builders "dodgy brothers" LOL It's a public holiday here for King's Birthday, they also worked last Sat. No builders work on public holidays here!!! They seem to be just whacking it all up, it really needs structural engineering, it's more than 10 foot above ground. Just hoping it stays secure enough when we get the strong westerly winds, or it could damage our house!! I saw they had tethered something to our shared fence, but on his side, so it doesn't affect us.
It's gong to be weird tomorrow not leaving early, just hoping it's not too late when we can eventually get on the road. Not much fun driving on the freeway at night the big trucks usually take to the roads then. Their lights can be really bright.
See you tomorrow!

Trish- we encounter big trucks evertime of day when we travel in the interstate. They travel the highways here 24/7! Legally they can only drive 8 hrs but those 8 hrs can be whenever they want. Most drive more than that. Doesn’t seem to be much regulation on the 8 hr law.
Have a safe trip.
Off to the gym to get it over with. I wish I could say I like it (I used to). Now it’s more of an excuse to get out of the house.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES......
1. ON THE GROUNDS OF A PRIVATE SCHOOL: NO TRESPASSING WITHOUT PERMISSION.
2. ON A TENNESSEE HIGHWAY: TAKE NOTICE: WHEN THIS SIGN IS UNDER WATER, THIS ROAD IS IMPASSABLE.
I THINK THE RAIN HAS FINALLY PASSED US. TODAY WILL BE IN THE HIGH 70S THEN 80S THE NEXT 3 DAYS. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR AIR CONDITIONING.
DEVONNE.....HOW VERY SWEET OF YOU TO GET GARY A NEW TV. THAT IS HUGE. I THINK THE SCREENS ARE MUCH TOO LARGE FOR MOST ROOMS, BUT I GUESS EVERYONE THINKS BIGGER IS BETTER. I KNOW THEY WILL ENJOY IT.
GOOD FOR YOU FINDING A GRILLE TABLE THAT MAY WORK OUT WELL FOR YOU. LET US KNOW HOW THAT DOES. LIKE YOU, I HATE HAVING TO PUT THINGS TOGETHER. I LIKE THEM TO COME INTACT AND READY TO USE.
TRISH......ANOTHER ONE THINKING MEATBALLS. WELL, I HAVE GROUND BEEF DEFROSTING AND THINK EITHER MEATBALLS OR MAYBE A SMALL MEATLOAF WITH VEGGIES TOMORROW. EITHER ONE IS FINE WITH ME.
YESTERDAY I PULLED A FEW FABRICS FOR BORDERS ON MY NEXT PROJECTS. TODAY I HOPE TO SEW TOGETHER THE SETS OF 4 LADIES FOR THE GARDEN SOCIETY WH AND THEN THE 6 TEACUPS FOR MY DAUGHTERS WH.
YESTERDAY I WORKED ON THE JIGSAW PUZZLE AND GOT A LOT OF IT DONE. I AM HOPING SOMEONE WORKS ON IT TO GET THE FLORAL SECTIONS DONE. THEY ALL LOOK ALIKE TO ME.
I FINISHED A BOOK YESTERDAY AND WILL START THE ONE FROM THE LIBRARY, BEACHCOMBER BY KAREN ROBARDS IN LARGE PRINT, SOMETIME TODAY.
I'M THINKING OF MAKING BELINKIS, MY LITHUANIAN POTATO PANCAKES, FOR SUPER TONITE AND SHARE WITH EITHER NAN OR SHARON NEXT DOOR. DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH MY HAND TIRES OUT FROM GRATING. IF I MAKE ENOUGH, BOTH CAN SHARE. THEY LOVE THEM AND NEVER MAKE THEM.
BEING MONDAY, I START ANOTHER 2ND WEEK CHORE LIST TODAY WITH MY CUPBOARDS. ALSO MY WEEKLY MONDAY LIST IS WIPING DOWN MY SMALL APPLIANCES ON THE COUNTERS; MICROWAVE, TOASTER, CAN OPENER, TOASTER OVEN, AND ALSO SOAK THE STOVE FILTER. I FIND THAT HAVING THIS ROUTINE WORKS FOR ME. STAYING AHEAD OF THE DIRT AND MESS IS SO MUCH EASIER THESE DAYS.
THAT'S SEEMS TO BE IT LADIES. STAY SAFE. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Today is going to be craft/hobby day for me. Might get a little sewing done too.
Sandra, I don’t care for the 75” tv’s. I missed their anniversary May 23, so it was a Welcome to your new home gift, anniversary gift and Father’s Day, lol! ![]()
More rain in the forecast. I’m not complaining. Mother nature’s rain is much better than my water hose and it’s free.

Humid here, will be 80% later! Good thing for AC! I just got both a Sam’s Club and Walmart delivery, so we’re good for groceries.
SIL Morgan made it thru the weekend, my brother was able to visit her yesterday. He said she drifts in and out.
Mary Lou, we always try to combine errands. Our biggies are the library and going to lunch.
Devonne, I call them bonus gifts, given to whoever I feel like, whenever I feel like it. Mostly via Amazon, or Uncle Jeff as someone online called him. The evil uncle.
I agree, 75 is too big. Ralph used to have one in the family room, replaced it with 55. The room just was not big enough.
Today is my middle daughter’s birthday! Manda is now 45, yikes!
The local pizza parlor is running a fundraiser today for a local family =26pxwhose house burned down last week, so it’s pizza for dinner.
Offline
Our family room is huge so our 70+” (maybe 75”) doesn’t seem too big. We only use it to watch movies. We watch tv while we eat dinner in our eat in kitchen. That tv is 50” I think?
I ordered a quilt ladder from Etsy and it’s great. Almost 6’ tall and 42” wide. It has 6 rungs. I like it so much I will probably order another.
Offline
Good evening friends!
Janet, I think quilt ladders are great! What a way to show our quilts! I have one quilt stand that I keep in the living room and it holds four quilts.
I managed to go read the comments from last week, but did not write anything down, so will not comment on anything.
It was a hot one today ( 86 degrees) and supposed to be more hot and humid tomorrow. I like warm weather but not hot and humid.
Devonne, when Dean gets his blood transfusions, he has more energy, so he can walk 2 miles. We just walk slow and there are many benches through out the park and we sit and look at the lake, the GoodYear Blimp or the geese and herons. This is so difficult mentally on a man who ran marathons a couple of years ago. However, he is doing ok. We went to Cleveland today for another bone marrow biopsy. We were not told why, so we just went and had it done. He also started his second round of chemo infusions today.
Dean just bought a 65 inch TV for the bedroom he is currently staying in and he loves it. We have never had a TV in the bedroom, so it is a new thing for him. He is "borrowing" Aaron's movie package (Netflix, Hulu and Disney +) and is enjoying many movies while he is lounging in bed.
I don't watch movies, just old reruns of old shows and my daily dose of The Young and Restless soap opera.
When I run errands, I too, will try to combine as many as possible to save my time and gas.
Well, we have had two feral cats hanging around the past year and Dean always was leery of them having babies. It happened. We have two kittens under our back deck. The mama is a tortoise shell and her kittens are one solid black one and a white, black and tiger looking one. They are just coming out from under the porch. Now we have to find an agency that will take them and I don't think we will have much luck. I got sort of close to the black one and he hissed at me. lol! That little bugger!. The other cat is a yellow one and I think he is a young male. A couple other bigger cats keep coming and fighting him and it makes me sad. He runs away for several days until hunger brings him back.

Cheryl- I know what you mean about Dean being athletic and then this happens. Many, many years ago my father had a leg amputation. He was an athlete as well, a big muscular guy, always active. This was in the days of hard plastic artificial legs. He always considered himself invincible and never got over it. You know the, “how could this happen to me or why me?” All the time… I often thought (I was about 12 at the time) that his mind took over his body and contributed to his delay and nasty disposition.
Wishing Dean and you the best. Keeping his and your spirits up will definitely help with recovery.
Heading out to one of my quilt bee meetings and lunch before it. I belong to 3 🤪.
One I rarely go to, there are two very obnoxious women who joined it about 3 years ago…another story. Today’s is my favorite one and the other is ok but a bit farther away and it’s only 2 hrs. Hardly worth the ride…
Overcast and hot and humid today. Same all week with possible tstorms everyday.

STOP THE PRESSES......
1. MOBY DICK, THE GREAT AMERICAN CLASSIC BY HERMAN MELVILLE, WILL BE SEEN AGAIN NEXT WEEK WITH VETEREAN ACTOR VICTOR JORY IN THE TITLE ROLE.
2. MRS. BETTY LARKIN IS POORLY THIS SPRING. HER FACE IS MUCH MISSED IN CHURCH, IT BEING ALWAYS THERE WHEN SHE IS ABLE TO BE PRESENT.
ITS GOING TO BE IN THE 80S THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND ITS SUNNY AND BRIGHT.
HOLLY.......IT SURE MAKES ONE FEEL OLD WHEN THE KIDS GET UP THERE IN YEARS. WOW, MANDA IS 45. MY YOUNGEST, MY SON, WILL BE 58 ON THE 20TH. WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE.
CHERYL......ITS GOOD THAT DEAN CAN WATCH HIS MOVIES ON A LARGE SCREEN IN THE BEDROOM THESE DAYS.
WE HAD ONE TV FOR THE LONGEST TIME AND I GOT SOOO TIRED OF THE SPORTS HE WATCHED. I WOULD SEW OR READ. THEN HE GOT ME A TV FOR THE BEDROOM. HOW TERRIFIC. I COULD WATCH THE THINGS I PREFERRED. LOVED HAVING THE 2 TVS.
I AM GLAD DEAN CAN DO THE SAME.
DEVONNE......HAVE YOU TRIED THE NEW GRILLE TABLE YET? DO YOU THINK IT WILL WORK OUT FOR YOU?
YESTERDAY I FINISHED ONE JIGSAW PUZZLE AND STARTED A NEW ONE. THAT TOOK SO LONG THAT IT WAS TOO LATE TO START GRATING POTATOES AND MY HAND WAS ALSO A BIT TIRED SO NEVER GOT TO MAKE MY BELINKIS. INSTEAD I HAD A SANDWICH.
TODAY I THINK IT'LL BE MEATLOAF FOR SUPPER. I HAVE CORN ON THE COB THAT NEEDS EATING AND THAT WILL GO WELL WITH MEATLOAF WITH ROASTED TATERS AND CARROTS. I WILL, OF COURSE, HAVE ENOUGH FOR ANOTHER FEW MEALS. ITS A GOOD THING I ENJOY EATING LEFTOVERS.
I SEWED AND GOT A BIT DONE YESTERDAY. I ADDED A COUPLE OF BORDERS AND SEWED SOME BLOCKS TOGETHER. TODAY I HOPE TO CONTINUE DOWN THAT PATH. I HAVE FABRIC TO PRESS SO I CAN CUT OUT BACKINGS AND I NEED TO CUT OUT BATTING TO FIT MY PROJECTS AND MAYBE I CAN PIN TOGETHER A COUPLE OF THEM READY FOR MACHINE QUILTING. I DO SIMPLE MACHINE STITCHING FOR THAT JOB. IT'LL BE OUTLINE STITCHING, ECHO AND STRAIGHT LINES 2 OR MORE INCHES APART. I LIKE TO HAND STITCH MY BINDINGS DURING CRAFT MORNINGS.
WISHING YOU ALL A FINE DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Janet, it sucks that a few people can ruin the vibe for others.
Cheryl, hugs to you and Dean.
My SIL is drifting away on morphine, body systems are shutting down. My brother and I mostly text, because if we talk we both cry.
Another humid day, so AC is on.

Good Morning.
We're home for the day. Got groceries yesterday and especially the salmon that was on sale. The store we go to for that has a lovely woman in the seafood dept. who pkgs. it exactly as I wish. I tell ML I have my own "fishmonger" a person who's supposed to be worth having for your seafood needs, according to the things I've read...![]()
The A/C is finally turned on a couple of days ago for the first time this year.
---------------Long

TV set sizes--a bone of contention in this house! I had a 55" in the living area and Howard had a 65" upstairs. Then, his wouldn't work up there for some reason and we swapped, against my wishes, but it was the best choice... With the understanding that he would be content with that choice, even though the 55" fit the space down here better and also the decor on the wall around it. So... now every time we pass the Tvs (on our usual route around Walmart), he taunts me that he wants the largest one he can get down here, which is a small, cozy area, when we need to replace the 65"er. l'll say no more. You can guess the rest...
At least we do have two.
Do I hate TV? No, I like it more than I should. We both do...
Glad Dean's new one is working out for him. And that there is so much to personally choose from to fulfil what one wants for entertainment, learning, passing time, whatever. ![]()
Well, now it's noon here so I'll close this and carry on. Hot and humid, today. 'Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime', finally! ![]()

Today was one of my days to get out and run around so I went to Goodwill and HomeGoods. I love the Valley Pop popcorn they sell. I haven’t seen that brand anywhere else. They use coconut oil which I love instead of seed oils. I also got two packages of edamame snacks. I think I’m the only one that likes them, lol. They are roasted and crunchy and so good. I also found a wreath for my front door.
This grill table is going to work. I’ll post a picture of it when I make one. I’ll also post a picture of my shelf unit I got for my closet for pants. This closet is so small to be a master closet. I got a really cheap shoe rack from Walmart that works great. It was less than $20.
I didn’t get to sew any yesterday; my back said no way. I did finish a painting I’ll post soon.
Cheryl, maybe getting the biopsy is a good sign.
Holly, I hope your sister-in-law doesn’t suffer. Billy was on morphine too toward the end. The hardest thing I ever had to do in my life was taking him off life-support. Then in October 2023 I had to make the decision to put Sandy down and in July 2025 I had to make the decision to put Molly down. I am tired of doing this. I hope Gracie passes away in her sleep.
I do enjoy getting out but I have to make myself do it. I know it’s good for me to walk, but I’m really tired when I get home. I don’t know if it’s the excess weight or my age; probably both, lol😀

I have been watching the quilters paradise videos. I signed up to do it again. I have enjoyed the ideas and tips! ![]()
Simba is doing great! Spoiled, I know y'all are shocked! I leave his door open when I go to the park, I close it when I get home because it gets too humid in the house. Upstairs we leave everything closed to keep the humidity down. ![]()
Still walking everyday. today I walked the mall since it was pouring rain! ![]()

Devonne, it’s much easier to not put someone on life support than it is to take them off. Once Morgan was put on hospice and made comfort care, a vent is not an option. My brother saw her again today, says she’s in and out, and seems comfortable on the morphine. I was glad she didn’t pass on Manda’s birthday yesterday, or my nephew Jake’s birthday today.
We also have our AC on for humidity.
