Thank you all for the condolences, it will be hard to get over, just too angry with him, I know I should say he wasn't thinking, but I AM thinking of his wife and kids, and extended family, their pain is real.
It's not good, he was angry that he was separated and the house was to be sold, and he's left problems, and now Chal has all that to deal with too. So yep!! very angry. At least Chal or the kids didn't find him, I am so grateful for that.
I had sewing today, I started putting together one of the borders for Alice, it was something other do that was easy and I needed easy this week, I did the cutting on Friday in class. I looks so much better than the way the book says to do it. Far less fabric in seams and just as pretty, when I get more done I will take a pic.
When I did my blog it said my last post was 2010, but I added my brother's pic form his birthday this year LOL I have no idea who I did that, learning how to do the blog will be interesting, maybe now I have started it will fall into place.
I ordered Dean water pistols from Amazon they were finally delivered today, we've been waiting a couple weeks, they are small, colourful and work well, so he's happy, he told me there were 94 started the game and now down to 51. He wants to win LOL
It's cool tonight, I ordered fish & chips for th guys and a seafood salad for me, they are quick at our local and the serves are huge, they always add something - this time it was as small coleslaw salad. Sometimes it's fresh cooked prawns, I do like them!!
Time for me to shut down, INDY enjoy your special day with Andrew, and SANDRA enjoy your visit with Matt.
I got some sleep last night, but still need more, I am tired. It was so good to catch up with the girls today though I needed that.

YOGI BERRA SAYS......
1. YES, MY WIFE'S HANDS ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL. I'M GOING TO HAVE A BUST MADE OF THEM.
2. WE HAVE ALL PASSED A LOT OF WATER SINCE THEN.
THE RAIN HAS STARTED. EXPECTING SHOWERS OFF AND ON ALL DAY TODAY AND TOMORROW. TEMPS IN THE 50S AND 60S SO ITS NORMAL.
ITS SUNDAY ONCE AGAIN. LOTS OF WORLD WAR II MOVIES ON TV THESE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. I REALLY LIKE THE OLD MOVIES OF YESTERYEAR. MANY FAVORITE MOVIE STARS THAT I NOW MISS.
I TOOK OUT MY TRASH JUST IN TIME TODAY. GOT MY MEATS BAGGED AND IN THE FREEZER EARLY SO I COULD TAKE OUT MY TRASH BEFORE THE RAIN STARTED. TIMING WAS PERFECT. I FELT A FEW RAINDROPS SO GOT OUT BEFORE THE SHOWER.
I TOOK OUT A FEW THINGS TO DEFROST; HAMBURG, GARLIC PIZZA DOUGH, AND A CHICKEN BREAST. I CAN MAKE WHATEVER I LIKE. I AM THINKING POTATOES OF SOME KIND TODAY. MAYBE MASHED. I ALSO HAVE CORN ON THE COB AND WATERMELON. THE MELON IS NICE AND SWEET AND SEEDLESS.
A SLOW DAY FOR ME TODAY. I WILL DO WHATEVER TAKES MY FANCY.
STAY SAFE LADIES. ENJOY YOUR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. HUGS, QB S ![]()

I've lost 36 lbs. since September but I'm so disappointed in myself the last few months. When I get up early to let Gracie go out, I find myself in the kitchen cheating on intermittent fasting. I've decided to go back to the bedroom & stay in there until she's ready to come back in, lol. ![]()
There is some good news! I went from a Size 2X blouse to an XL. I haven't worn an XL since my teens. I'm sure it's a combination of the DM and the weight loss.
I was hoping to have 10 more lbs. gone by my June appt. with the oncologist. Not going to happen, but I'll never get so discouraged that I quit. Keep on trucking on "get 'er done" as they say in the South, lol. ![]()
I'm painting today....a frog and cattails. My plan was to go to Walmart, but I placed an order last night. Like Sandra, I also got fresh corn on cob and watermelon. I have so much food, I need to make a weekly menu!

Trish- terrible news. Thoughts are with you and the family left behind.
Holly - I never heard of that actress? My sister is probably 80+. My mother read a lot, so I’m guessing that was a characters name?
Raining again today.
Cheryl - even as our kids got older they never helped with the pool and DH didn’t make them…to me the pool is a lot of work and cost compared to the pleasure of having it.
I have a dishwasher and think I’ve used it 2-3 times in the years (10?) I think.
I don’t mind washing dishes although I use paper plates as much as possible. I don’t like to dry and put away…probably a throw back to my youth. I got all the lousy jobs.

STRINGS I am so sorry you have the crud, hope you can get some rest, and you have some meds to help you feel better ((((hugs)))
SANDRA I guess the soup went down well LOL He loves having mum cook for him still, boy will be boys, even old ones!! Yum, corn on the cob, it's so good when it's fresh, I love it, too late in the season for us to get fresh, always really good early in the year here.
Hope you can get your jigsaw too, it may have been unavailable, at least I hope they didn't just not deliver.
JANET - thank you! thinking about it - it couldn't be Daryl (the actress) she's too young ! I know Chalon was named for something Dianne saw in France - I forget what, I think it was some kind of perfume. We were glad to get rid of the pool when the kids got older, too much work, for little use.
HOLLY have you seen lots of pics for the trip, I would have loved to see Iceland. I have seen some from Julie, she was there in the summer, daylight all day LOL she said it was weird but interesting to be out in daylight at 11pm
Nothing happening here, I talked to my yoga teacher, she offered some advice, when you are sad - turn on the music loudly and dance by yourself, she said it really helps, I need to do that tomorrow.
I just updated the computer, it always makes a huge chord sound when turned on again for the first time, scares the heck out of me!!
The phones will update overnight. I got Deans water pistols, and delivered them to him last night, he had them filled ready for today.
I got nothing done today, I need to really get sorted in the sewing room, I had pulled out lots of fabric looking for some reproduction fabrics for my friend Paula, I had lots of them from my Jane, she is using similar, I found plenty, but she only needed tans and blues, so I got 12 of them for her, she thought it was too much, but she can always use them in the triangles, some are really nice stripes that look good in the border.
I did get some border sewn yesterday. I think I said that already though. I will try to get some pics and I can put them on my blog. I can show you what they were supposed one as well as what they are now LOL
Nothing more from family news, we are all slowly coming out of shock, and just want Chal and the kids looked after, some horrible decisions to be made regarding their dog - she has been classified as dangerous, can't live with Chalon at Gary's and can't be rehomed. Not sure when the house will be able to be sold now, it was open house last weekend supposed to be this week as well, but cancelled of course.
I have training in the morning, almost time for us to head away, that's one a week off now - yikes!!! I had better start thinking about clothes, if there is a funeral I will fly home for the day for it, probably just stay overnight here, then fly back, depends on day and times of course. It's only a short flight.

Trish- if I danced every time I was sad, I’d never get to sit down.

LOST IN THE TRANSLATION......
1. DETOUR SIGN IN KYUSHI, JAPAN: STOP: DRIVE SIDEWAYS.
2. IN A SWISS MOUNTAIN INN: SPECIAL TODAY --- NO ICE CREAM.
MORE AND MORE RAIN TODAY. OUR WOODLANDS CAN ALWAYS USE RAIN TO PREVENT FOREST FIRES.
I DON'T EAT ENOUGH VEGGIES, SO THIS MORNING I AM HAVING A SALAD FOR BREAKFAST WITH MY ORANGE JUICE. I HAVE SO MANY THINGS FOR MEALS; LEFTOVER PARMESAN POTATO WEDGES FROM LAST NITE, A BIT OF SOUP, SOME GROUND BEEF I WILL USE FOR MY GARLIC DOUGH PIZZA, HOT DOGS DEFROSTED ALONG WITH A CHICKEN BREAST. I ALSO WANT TO MAKE SOME EGG YOLK POTATO SALAD SOON.
DEVONNE......GOOD FOR YOU LOSING 36 LBS. I KNOW ITS A STRUGGLE. I HAVE ONLY LOST THE 30 LBS SINCE LAST JULY BUT I KEEP EATING MY SNACKS WATCHING TV AT NITE. I NEED TO CURB THAT BAD HABIT.
LINDA.....SORRY THE CRUD IS ATTACKING YOU AGAIN. YOU ALREADY SUFFERED A WEEK WITH THAT EARLIER. I HOPE THIS TIME IT FLITTERS OFF QUICKLY.
TRISH.....THEY HAD A MIDSOMER MURDER MARATHON ON OUR OVATION CHANNEL YESTERDAY. GOSH, SO MANY OF THE NEIL DUDGEON SERIES. I STILL HAVE A COUPLE MORE TO WATCH (I RECORDED THEM) EVEN THO I'VE SEEN THEM BEFORE.
SPEAKING OF NAMING BABIES FOR ACTRESSESS, MY MOM TOLD ME MY DAD NAMED ME FOR AN ACTRESS. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE LATE 30S OR 40S WHEN HE SAW HER SINCE I WAS BORN IN 42. I HAVE YET TO COME ACROSS ANY ACTRESS WITH MY NAME BACK THEN. OR MAYBE SHE PLAYED A PART WITH THE NAME SANDRA.
ITS THE MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY. I'VE WATCHED BOTH VERSIONS OF THE MOVIE MIDWAY, 1976 AND 2019. BOTH WONDERFUL MOVIES.
NOTHING HAPPENING HERE. I HAVE FOOD TO EAT, GAMES TO PLAY, TV TO WATCH, A BOOK TO FINISH. I WILL STAY BUSY BUT RESTING. NO CHORES TODAY.
HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY LADIES. HUGS, QB S ![]()

We had a very nice time yesterday. Andrew is so tall and while trim, always, I could tell he'd lost some weight. He regaled us with Mallorca tales and about the Indian wedding. Two anecdotes: The bride, not Indian, but his friend from highschool, stayed in a suite at the Drake Hotel that Princess Diana stayed in...$32,000 per night and, "no" that isn't a misprint! The other: his h.s. classmate, Faith, stayed with him , in his apt. (no romance, just long-time friends) and after they dressed in the Indian sari (her) and the kurta (him) (tunic-length collarless shirt), they had to stop by another girl friend's hotel so she could put Faith's false eyelashes on for her since she couldn't do it herself. They did this not once, but twice over the two-day wedding festivities.
The second evening was a private affair at the famous Chicago Art Institute. After one of the several wedding ceremonies, they had the reception dinner-he picked filet mignon--dancing, and all the galleries were opened for the guests to view as they wished, and finally an after-party, somewhere else? They got back to his apt. at 1:45 am, and then Faith still drove home, out here.
For some unknown reason, her mother insisted???? She's ML's friend but the why of that will remain a mystery since ML doesn't feel like she can ask Teri, who is not an unreasonable person.
Trish, what a sorry state. Not only the grief but then all the legalities, and the dog situation.
Many families are touched by suicide. When my grandma chose that when I was 16, the farmer neighbors came and harvested our crops for Grandpa. People were good to us but there is that stigma that follows suicide that makes you feel ashamed, or at least it was back then, in the 50's. Over time the pain lessens, but it never goes away, completely.
This spring as usual, we have several wrens around our front porch, loudly singing like they do. I love, love them, my favorite songbird. But, I've been outsmarted by a 5 oz. bird! Earlier, I'd carefully turned my decorative birdhouse around so they couldn't build nests in them, because the roaming cats ALWAYS find the nests, destroy them and you know the rest... While sitting on the swing I saw a wren hop onto the birdhouse and quickly dart around the back and disappear into it. So, I'm pretty sure how it will end.
But, it's too late to change anything.
Devonne, I hope you don't get sick! Maybe you avoided that, somehow. Smart to wait a bit for them to get over it.
Time to heat up the soup. It wasn't great the first time, but I've warned Howard that's what were having. ![]()

OOPS I was wrong, it's 2 weeks till we leave, thank heavens, I got ahead of myself!!
INDY so nice to hear about the wedding, I'm sorry about your grandmother (((hugs))) must have been awful for you all, and you being so young. So good to have that time with Andrew, maybe the family think the daughter shouldn't stay too long with him?? Odd but you will never know!
I will worry about the kids, but nothing I can do, they will have counselling I know that.
DEVONNE hope you don't get the bug, it went around here a month or so ago, I remember the girls at training talking about it, we didn't get it thank heavens. Great news for you on the weight loss, well done!
SANDRA I forgot to check your blog, I will do that after here, looking forward to seeing your ladies, I do love them, such a nice idea for the doors. In the hostel where sis was they had things on doors, but had removed them recently to paint all the doors - they chose light purple!!, they look awful now, all the same and not interesting. I can watch my Midsomer anytime I want, but I do pay for Britbox to do it, worth it for me though - keep an eye out for Mcdonald & Dodds, and also Murder in Suburbia. Both a bit like Midsomer, no real violence, we enjoyed both, Murder in Suburbia has Dr Martens wife as the lead, Carolyn ??
It's been rainy here on and off all day, not fun - we had training and it was dry for most of it, but started again before we left, so a dash to the car. I had chosen not to park behind the building, bad mistake LOL
JANET I am sorry you are so unhappy, I could not live like that, try to do something every day to make you smile (((hugs)))
HOLLY that's some hot weather you are having, I saw they are in the middle of a heat wave - well for them LOL - in the UK, they don't do heat well, I roasted last time we were there in July.
I know the computer restarted, but I can't see any difference after the update, so it must have gone well.
sometimes things go wrong after an update.
See you later

Trish- I hope it’s temporary…this has been a terrible past year.
Remembering back about 60 years, my cousin was terribly in debt to loan sharks (as they were called then) for gambling debts, horse racing, etc. It was like a bad movie, they would threaten him and rough him up from time to time. He moved from Jersey to Chicago. Things got so bad he either jumped from a high story hotel room window, or maybe was thrown? It was never discussed except for what I just told you. He had a wife and kids.
We’re going on a short trip tomorrow to Staunton, VA to ride the Virginia Scenic Railway. We’ve done it before. It’s a nice trip, and just so happens Patchwork Quilts (claims to be largest quilt shop in VA. 🤷♀️ is nearby. Been there before.
I don’t need anything but you know how that goes…I didn’t last time either but managed to spend almost $300. lol

MANGLED MODIFIERS.......
1. LOCKED IN A VAULT FOR 50 YEARS, THE OWNER OF THE JEWELS HAS DECIDED TO SELL THEM.
2. BREAKING INTO THE WINDOW OF THE GIRLS' DORMITORY, THE DEAN OF MEN SURPRISED 10 MEMBERS OF THE FOOTBALL TEAM.
ITS A BEAUTIFUL DAY AND WILL HIT 80 TODAY. NO FROSTS IN SITE SO I GUESS THE EARLY GARDENS WILL MAKE IT JUST FINE THIS YEAR.
I'M HAVING YOGURT AND O.J. FOR BREAKFAST. I HAVE EGGS ON THE BOIL TO MAKE WITH MY EGG YOLK AND POTATO SALAD LATER. I LOVE IT SO MAKE QUITE A BIT.
LAST NITE I SHARED PEPPERONI HAMBURG PIZZA WITH THE 2 LADIES NEXT DOOR. THEY APPRECIATE MY PIZZAS AND I CAN'T EAT IT ALL SO ITS NOT WASTED. ONE OF THEM FELL AND SPRAINED HER ANKLE ON SUNDAY. HER FRIEND TOOK HER TO THE E.R. JUST IN CASE. GOOD THING BECAUSE SHE BROKE A BONE, TOO, SO IS IN A BIG FOOTY THING. MAKES SLOW MOVING FOR HER. AND SHE DOES NOT LIKE TO COOK.
TRISH......CAROLINE CATZ IS HER NAME. TO DATE I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING HERE ABOUT THOSE 2 SERIES YOU NAMED. I WILL KEEP AN EYE OPEN FOR THEM.
JUDY......SOUNDS LIKE A FANTASTIC AND INTERESTING VISIT WITH YOUR ANDREW. WHAT A FABULOUS WEDDING THAT MUST HAVE BEEN.
AS FOR YOUR WRENS, I HOPE IF THERE ARE ANY BABIES THIS YEAR THAT THEY MAKE IT TO ADULTHOOD.
JANET.....THAT RIDE ON THE VIRGINIA SCENIC RAILWAY SOUNDS A TREAT. I WILL BE RUSHING DOWN THERE ON MY BROOM IF I CAN GET IT STARTED. LOVE TRAINS.
CHORES BEGIN AGAIN FOR ME TODAY AFTER THE LONG WEEKEND. NOTHING I CAN'T HANDLE. DOING THEM REGULARLY KEEPS THINGS CLEAN AND ARRANGED SO IT NEVER TAKES MUCH TIME. I AM INTO A GOOD COZY MYSTERY SO HOPE TO FINISH THAT TODAY.
OH YES, I CUT MY HAIR THIS MORNING. I HAVE BEEN DOING IT MYSELF FOR YEARS. I USED TO CUT MY HUSBAND'S AS WELL. HE LIKED MY JOB BETTER THAN A BARBER SO IT WORKED OUT WELL FOR US AND SAVED MONEY ON HAIRCUTS.
WISHING YOU ALL A GREAT WEEK. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Sandra- if you can get your broom started, please bring your shears so you can trim my hair! I think I’ve exhausted most of the hairdressers around here and haven’t liked any of them nor the cuts either.
So we pushed the button to start the pool filter and nothing! Called the pool genius’s and they may be able to come in a week or so!!
DH’s dr is also booked out and also his PA/NP.
Another day in paradise…

After several rainy and dreary days, it’s 77 and sunny. We didn’t do anything for Memorial Day, just nuked burgers and had potato salad. Walmart has a loaded potato salad that Ralph likes.
Devonne, I’m holding at 45 pounds down. I go up a little, down a little.
Steph and Dan get in on Thursday night and will be here til Monday afternoon. Eddie’s party is Saturday, so we’ll be there most of the day. They have plans for every day with various friends, but they’ll sleep here so we’ll see them every day. It’s sad, Dan did not have a happy childhood, and spends only minimal time with his family when they are here. That’s one reason he was happy to move across the country with Steph.
Trying a new recipe for dinner. Shredded chicken, Alfredo sauce, and tater tot’s. I’ll report back on it.

Nice spring day, here. Lots of sneezing for me so I know the pollen is in 'full bloom'. Flonase to the rescue.
I'm finally absolved (is that the word?) from cutting Howard's hair after 40 years, at least. He got his freebie for Veteran's Day and liked it and it was getting to be so exhausting for me, plus I was more than tired of doing it. Plus the last time, a young man paid for his, including the tip. Said his dad was in the Navy and he just wanted to do it.
As for me, I've been going to my current hairdresser for about 12 years. She's reasonable, and since my hair does what it wants, I've been happy with her. But, I know how nerve-wracking it can be when you have to find a new one.
Holly, sometimes that's all you need, to just see someone every day while they're visiting. Glad your family has filled the hole in Dan's life.
Yes, Trish. Why is it when they upgrade, we're worse off?
Even techy Howard gets frustrated. I do like this Chromebook I have, now. It seems to stay fairly simple all the time.
Guess I'll be a bit off all week after the Monday holiday. Plus, Howard told me it was May 26 yesterday and then told me that was wrong this morning. Oh well, I was off a day a week or so ago, too. Doesn't make too much difference, most of the time. ![]()
Going to see about lunch. Have a nice remainder of the day. ![]()

I found a dead little bird on my patio. Gracie doesn't bother the birds, so I don't know how it died. I thought it was a sparrow, but it had black on it. Aren't sparrows brown like wrens? It wasn't a chickadee.
This morning I had a followup visit with my orthopedic after being on gel shots for a month. These shots did nothing for me, but made my knees worse. For now, she wants to do cortisone shots once a month. I asked her don't those make your knees worse? She said that isn't true. What makes your knees worse is your osteoarthritis gets worse. So it will be shots every month and then see how I'm doing. If I'm doing well in a month, I can cancel the appointment. I told her Dr. Cates (my main doctor) said I had a dislocated knee cap. She said it's really not dislocated, but off track a little bit. I forgot to ask her if that affects me climbing stairs. So back again July 1st to start the monthly shots. If I get to where I don't do my daily activities, surgery is next. It all depends on how these shots help me. There are also different shots I can try. Medicare will pay for these monthly shots.
I went to Home Goods after my doctor's appt. Was so tempted to stop at Waffle House and just get eggs and grits, but skipped breakfast. I came home to eat. All I got at Home Goods was food items. They have unusual food items, a lot says Made in Italy. I got 3 different kinds of crackers, popcorn, a trail mix and crunch edamame to snack on.
Janet, I too feel so sad for you. It has to keep you depressed. My DIL takes Prozac every day for anxiety. She said she couldn't function without it. She's been taking it for years.
Linda, hope you are feeling better!
Holly, 45 lbs. is great!! Way to go, girl! I watched a lady on YT that lost 150 lbs. She said she stayed away from ultraprocessed foods and said never buy anything in a box, lol! Well, half of my pantry junk would have to go, lol. ![]()

I posted the chicken and tots casserole. It was a hit with Ralph, who is easy to feed, not picky at all. I just avoid his allergies. We ate close to half of it, with Brussels sprouts as a veggie.
Devonne, did you know edamame is soybeans? The first time I heard of it, I looked it up. Thanks for the weight complement, and right back at you!
My friend Barbara also has a kid on the west coast, and one in upstate NY. We joke about running B&B’s, since the kids are in and out.
