Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

Holly, I would be a terrible pioneer woman too, lol.

I am making yeast rolls. They have another hour to rise. I need to somehow find room in the fridge for the dough. If I leave the dough out, it will probably over ferment. Going to be interesting to see if they turn out, lol.

Gary and the kids are coming for lunch tomorrow and to pick up Caleb's presents.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

I think I have added my blog post, who knows, the last time I tried it was 2010 YiKES!!! Didn't realise it was that long.

SANDRA I did know about Sister Monica Joan, I need to catch up on the Mid Wife series, I might start a new watch when we are away, there will be plenty of free time for me to catch up on that series. I love how some of the same actors are 'murderers' in the show a few times, especially fun to see the current Barnaby as a bit of a rogue in the early seasons, he was horrible in that LOL. Olivia Coleman was a murderer twice, both times great parts, she is so good. Although I saw her in a movie recentley and her language - OOPS, it was pretty bad. I didn't realise she could swear like that, even for the part.

Anyone with DISNEY+ subscription??, I think I wll cancel mine,  they have put it up - again - and I rarely watch anything on it. I need to cancel before mid June.

I need to finish packing up for sewing, I  have been trying to figure out what kind of fabric I need, I also have 4 blocks for Alice to redo, I dislike them, and I know I won't be happy with them in the quilt.
I may take fabrics and just make the border blocks for it, they are square in a square, and NOT done the pattern way, it will be Julie's way, hers look fabulous.

stay cool everyone, I will be back later - I hope!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

Well, I did it, I made a blog post!! THANK YOU SANDRA for the inspiration, it was interesting figuring it all out, but I managed to do it.

DEVONNE is it just bread rolls, or are they a different recipe called yeast rolls? I have heard others from the US call them that and wondered, we just call them bread unless they are made with egg etc and are brioche buns/rolls. I just heard about this offer on an app, they bag up end of the day things and if you are lucky you get lots of things for a price, Bakers Delight has the bags for $10, I signed up for access, Megan got some a couple weeks ago, a huge bag well over $25, and she froze a bit of it, the boys devoured the rest LOL

I still didn't cancel Disney yet, I will do it now I think, I'll check if there was something I needed to watch, I can always rejoin.
Had to race down to the store and get some cash out, the Mr didn't have any and I wanted to pick up some fish oil tabs, at 1/2 price, unfortunately they were online only, so I have to wait till I do my online shop. I wasn't going to pay full price if I didn't need to. So I bought a small madeira cake instead to take to class tomorrow, we can only get cash out at the supermarket if we buy something.

and now  really am off for the night!!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

Trish, I don’t have the Disney Channel. I did cancel Netflix because I don’t watch it much during the summer months. I also canceled MyFitnessPal premium, but I’m going to get that back. It’s only $59 a year and it has an excellent intermittent fasting tracker. I also add my foods every meal and it tracks my carbs, protein, and fat. You can pay extra and get premium plus and they give you meal plans. I don’t need that. I think you do get the food list with the free version, but you don’t get the intermittent fasting.. if I can find a free intermittent fasting app, I will not pay for my fitness pal. Most of them I have checked are not free, but give you a  7 day free trial period.

They are called yeast rolls. I cooked them last night at 11:30. I sent them all home with Gary except two, lol. 😀

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

Afternoon y'all!

Holly I too could not be a pioneer!

Trish I have Disney Plus, hubby keeps threatening to cancel it then a series comes on he wants to watch, I just give him the "look".  I am a Dr. Who fan, and Disney Plus has the rights.

I went for my walk, to the grocery store and home.

Alex is coming over tonight.  He is going with Todd to Vicksburg, in the early morning hours.  This way he gets the few extra minutes of sleep.

Luke was supposed to shoot the cannon today and on Saturday.  Today some honorary people from Texas are are visiting and re-dedicating the Texas monument.  Luke made it a point to show Carol said monument.  He did get to shoot a musket.  He will also shoot a musket on Saturday.  Luke can explain it better than I can.  The humidity does something to the powder in the cannon and could potentially cause a misfire.  It has been raining there.  Not worth the risk.

I made progress yesterday on my FQ project.  I am sewing the quilted blocks together.  First few have been the hardest since I have never done this pattern before, nor have I done anything similar.  So far I love this pattern.

Well the rain has stopped.  It was ever sew brief!  I will take every drop we can get!

Did I tell you we had a family of Rose Breasted Grosbeaks at our feeders?  I have never seen them here.  We know they are in the area, but they have never come to our feeders.  We saw the male, female and a juvenile.  I stayed still so as to not disturb them.  I did get a decent picture of one of them.

That's everything from my little corner of the world!

Later my Friends!

2.  FLEXIBILITY IS ONE OF THE CORNERSTONES OF PROGRAM BUDGETING.
3.  THE BUDGET DEFICIT IS AN ALBATROSS WE CARRY ON OUR BACK.

ITS ANOTHER LOVELY SPRINGTIME DAY HERE.  LOVING IT.

I JUST NOTICED I HAD A COUPLE OF SPELLING ERRORS IN MY LAST POST SO I FIXED THEM.  I USUALLY DOUBLE-CHECK BEFORE SIGNING OUT.  GUESS I WAS IN A HURRY.
TOOK A WALK THRU THE GARDEN AND TOOK PICTURES.  I LOVE HOW ALL THE FLOWERS ARE COMING INTO BLOOM.  AND THE PERSONAL VEGGIE PLOTS ARE STARTING AGAIN.  I MISS HAVING MY OWN VEGGIE PLOT BUT WITH MY BALANCE ISSUES, ITS NOT A GOOD IDEA.
TODAY I MAKE SOME VEGGIE BEEF SOUP FOR MY SON WHO COMES TOMORROW TO SHOP FOR ME.  I HAVE SOME LINGUINE AND MEATBALLS TO FINISH UP TODAY.
I REC'D MY JIGSAW PUZZLE ORDER THIS MORNING.  THEY DID NOT INCLUDE MY FREEBIE.  I WAS TO GET A FREE PUZZLE IF I SPENT A CERTAIN AMOUNT AND ENTERED THE CODE NUMBER.  I DID.  I WILL BE CONTACTING THEM TODAY.  WITH THE PRICES THEY CHARGE THESE DAYS I WANT MY FREEBIES WHEN OFFERED.
AS FOR SEWING, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WILL DO TODAY.  THEN THERE IS MY BOOK I NEED TO FINISH.  IT ALL KEEPS BE BUSY AND OUT OF TROUBLE.
STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

Linda, that's good news for Darrell! My sister had a friend named Darrell. They were friends all during "grade school" and high school. He lived a mile from my late husband. He's the only Darrell I know. He used to call her in the nursing home, but there's no phone in her room now. She always recognized his voice.

Theresa, we didn't get one drop of rain. Praying for some today or tomorrow. It says 75% chance. How nice to see a rose breasted grosbeak. I have never seen one. I did have a red throated hummingbird at my feeder a few days ago. It's the first one I've ever seen.

I just had lunch and shared with Gracie. She loves Progresso chicken noodle soup. I give her the chicken and a few noodles.

One of the gifts I got Caleb was a USB powered baseball player night light. It changes different colors. I got an Amazon product safety recall today, so immediately called Gary. A bummer for sure because he liked it.

Sandra, I did my share of washing and drying dishes growing up, and mopping the floors too!  Mom always did the cooking and we took turns doing the dishes. I grew to hate those chores but now I have to do them myself, lol.  I am blessed to have a dishwasher that I don't use every day.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

My sister’s middle name is Daryl and she named her daughter Daryl. Hadn’t thought about it for years. I don’t know where my mother got that name?
I can’t believe Memorial Day is this Monday….never liked it when they went to Monday holidays.
DH managed to uncovered the pool by himself today. He said it was easier to do without my help. Good. He even managed to fold it and get it into the storage box. I always hated that job. We plan to get the filter running tomorrow. We have ordered water but the level is high enough to run the filter until they can get here.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

STRINGS that is good news for Darrell, I hope he can continue to do some light exercise at home -  I know what pains men are though, you can't tell them LOL

DEVONNE such a shame about the gift, especially since he loves it, but better safe than sorry.

HOLLY & JANET I thought that Daryl might be a surname adapted?? I know I have heard similar names for some English ancestors, I realised it was a surname from way back.

SANDRA I know your guy will enjoy his soup, sorry about the jigsaw missing, definitely ask them.

I am so sad and angry all at the same time, yesterday Chalon's husband committed suicide, he was 48, they had been separated for a year, we only had dinner with them all a few weeks ago. I am just devastated for her and the kids, I couldn't sleep last night thinking about it all, and I have been teary - I need to get some sleep tonight, Megan was a mess when told her, she had just spoken to Chal a couple days before. I just hope it wasn't the kids who found him.

I need sleep, and I will come back tomorrow, I have sewing, I was at my sewing class packing up yesterday when I got the call, the police were still at the house, Kris (Kristens DH)  rang me, so if needed I could check on Gary, he's ok, after having his breakdown we worry about how he will react to things.

IRISH BULL......
1.  PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION.  I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL HAVE ME AS A MEMBER.   --GROUCHO MARX.
2.  COCAINE ISN'T HABIT FORMING.  I SHOULD KNOW.  I'VE BEEN USING IT FOR YEARS.  --TALULLAH BANKHEAD.

ANOTHER LOVELY SPRING DAY HERE IN MAINE.  THE FLOWERS ARE BLOOMING.  THE BIRDS ARE SINGING.

ITS SATURDAY AND LOVELY OUT.  I WAS ALREADY OUT AND CUT MYSELF ANOTHER 2 VASES FULL OF AROMATIC LILACS.  LOVE THIS SEASON AND LILACS.  THEY WON'T LAST TIL INTO JUNE SO NEED TO ENJOY THEM WHILE I CAN.
I SENT AN EMAIL TO BITS AND PIECES ABOUT NOT GETTING THE FREE PUZZLE.  NO WORD BACK YET.  IF I DON'T HEAR FROM THEM ON MONDAY, I MAY PHONE THEM.  I DON'T LIKE TO USE THE PHONE THO SINCE I CAN'T HEAR TOO WELL AND OFTEN MISS SOME OF THE WORDS SPOKEN.  I WILL SEND THEM A 2ND EMAIL THO.
I MADE THE VEGGIE BEEF SOUP AND IT IS SOOO GOOD.  I KNOW MY SON WILL BE PLEASED. I WAS GOING TO MAKE A BREAKFAST CASSEROLE FOR HIM BUT FORGOT TO DEFROST THE SAUSAGE SO THAT CAN WAIT TIL NEXT TIME.
I WALKED THRU THE GARDEN AND TOOK SOME PICTURES NOW POSTED TO MY BLOG.  FLOWERS AND OUR RIVER.
ITS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND BUT I HAVE NO PLANS OTHER THAN READING, WATCHING TV, JIGSAWING, AND MAYBE SOME SEWING.  I WILL, OF COURSE, BE EATING WELL.

TRISH.....HOW SAD ABOUT THE SUICIDE.  ITS SUCH A HUGE STEP AND CAN'T BE REVERSED.  THE FAMILY WILL  ALWAYS WONDER IF THEY COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING.

THAT'S IT FROM ME.  ENJOY YOUR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

Trish, suicide is so hard for those around the person, so hard to understand. My nephew David was only in his late 30’s. My condolences.

it’s a wet cold dreary day and weekend. I just put in a Walmart order for this afternoon. I also turned the heat back on to take the chill of the house.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 17 ~ SAT MAY 23

ML just called and invited us for a cookout lunch, tomorrow.  The "boy" is home!  We still sometimes call him that, privately, not to his face.  Can't wait to hear about Mallorca and the Indian wedding and whatever else.  At her request, his belated Mother's Day present is a few hours of just him and her going shopping, today,  no one else.  I don't have to bring anything, but I might surprise them with deviled eggs.  Andrew loves them and called them "Grammie's half eggs" when he was little.

Trish, I'm so sorry.  Such an awful and un-understandable choice.     Seldom, maybe never, an answer as to "why".   Thankfully, that family is the same as your own family and they have all of you to care for them.

Our old neighbors next door had a big pine tree cut down yesterday and Howard ask the crew leader if he could take down 3 dead ones  in our woods, but a big danger to our house if they fell.  They did it for $400 which was a real bargain.  H. had been threatening to do it himself and I've been more than worried about that.  He was going to ask Albert to help him but you all know the danger in doing that.  It was less expensive because all they had to do was drop them in the woods--no cutting up, hauling, chipping, which the neighbors had done.  Now they have a big pile of mulch, I'd guess you'd call it, between them and us.  They do a great deal of gardening, so it'll get used.  And...we've been offered some if we wish...  Took all of 20 mins., here.

QB, wonder what it is about hand washing dishes that is so hateful?  I do know, for me, it's the rinsing and stacking  in preparation I dread.  When I was a kid I had to do them every other night and I would beg Mom to get them ready for me.  And, she would!  Spoiled brat, I know!
Even now, it's the part I hate.  I do have a dishwasher and I dislike loading it just as much.
I do love the term, "do the washing up" that the British use, though, so sometimes I put on my best accent and say that...to myself because nobody else cares.  I just read we should use the term, "I GET to..." rather than "I HAVE to..." , for our chores.  Supposed to make for a better attitude.

We had a nice time with our small group yesterday.  We were a bit late because of the tree cutting.  I called so the hostess wouldn't wonder or worry.

Hope all of you have a nice holiday weekend, whatever you do or don't do.  I will watch the Memorial Day Concert on PBS, this evening.
Indy
