Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

SANDRA to funny, invisible cars and hedges LOL I love those, but sadly they are true sometimes. enjoy your tortillas when you get them, we had leftovers tonight,  more chowder and a bowl of curried sausages. Dean is enjoying the  game, he got his first target today, he was grinning when I picked him up, apparently they are 'assigned' a target, and his forgot to put his goggles on when he left the school gate, Dean was right there, I was concerned about the whole thing at first, but it's just for fun, and I think it gives them something to do as a class to de-stress from all the study for their final year exams.

DEVONNE I am not sure about the toaster, do you mean you can put 2 slices next to each other, I had one but it was long and awkward so switched back to the slices opposite each other - Megan has the long one but for 4 slices, easier for them with family. I do love sauerkraut, but it's not easy to get the good stuff here, I eat it by the bowl in Germany LOL can't get enough.

HOLLY I wonder if that  layover is to avoid air space they can't use, or just the airline they are using, is it about an 8-10 hour flight from you to Italy? I am not sure of time, I know it was around 14 from here to Vancouver, or maybe they fly to west coast of US.

MARYLOU  I hope you have good news from your Drs, TIAs do indicate strokes, but knowing is better than not knowing, lovely to have David for a few days.

Raining again tonight but it's been fine most of the day, the boys were here, and Megan as well  - shut herself in the spare room on meetings as they couldn't go home till the cleaners left.
The Mr is watching lawn bowls on TV, he took his car to get a new battery today, he went to Mazda which was not necessary, but I'm not arguing about it, his choice.

I need to get my nails done tomorrow and also have an RSV vax to get, it's free for over 75s and due now, then Dean has another early finish so I will get him, they will probably come to the with club with us tomorrow night, M&G are away again for a couple nights. The boys are happy to have the house to themselves, and are very responsible, but they won't turn down an invitation to dinner LOL

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

Devonne, Hidden Valley has a spicy ranch spread that I put on the egg and bacon tacos. Has a bit of a kick to it.

Trish, I’m not sure why the layover, other than no direct flights. I think they laid over in London on the way, and when she saw Iceland was an option decided to spend a day there. Today is Venice, tomorrow is the first flight.

Today is Eddie’s pinning ceremony, we’re going to that. It’s only the nursing grads. Tomorrow is the whole college graduation, it’s in a building on the boardwalk in AC, and will be hours, so we’re not going to that.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

IT'S TRUE.......
1.  THERE'S A STRANGE VOICE IN MY HEAD SAYING. "VACUUM THE FLOOR, CLEAN THE HOUSE."  LUCKILY MY MOM TOLD ME NOT TO LISTEN TO STRANGERS.
2.  PEOPLE SAID TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS, SO I WENT BACK TO BED.

EXPECTING AN INCH OF RAIN TODAY.

NOT MUCH TO REPORT.  WENT TO CRAFT MORNING.  FINISHED A BINDING ON ONE OF MY LADIES.  GAVE OUT 3 TO NEIGHBORS THIS MORNING.  STILL HAVE A COUPLE MORE TO FINISH.
I MADE A PEPPER/ONION/STEAK 6" SUB FOR MY LUNCH.  MMMM GOOD.  I HAD A BURRITO LAST NITE AND HAVE LEFTOVERS FROM THAT.  I PLAN TO MAKE SOME MAC N CHEESE SOON.
NIEGHBOR SHARON BROUGHT SEVERAL OF OUR JIGSAW PUZZLES TO GOODWILL THIS WEEK.  SHE CHECKED IN YESTERDAY.  PUZZLES SHE BOUGHT THERE FOR $2 ARE NOW MARKED UP TO $6 AND $7 EACH.  WOW, THEY SURE ARE RAKING THE THE DOUGH ON JIGSAW PUZZLES.

STAY SAFE.  ENJOY YOUR DAY.  I WILL STAY OUT OF THE RAIN.  WE ARE LUCKY TO GET ENOUGH TO KEEP OUR FORESTS SAFE FROM FIRES.  THE LAST BIGGY WAS IN THE 1940S BURNING DOWN MOST HOMES IN BROWNFIELD MAINE AND INTO CONWAY N.H.

HUGS FOR YOU MY FRIENDS.  QB S

PS...WALLHANGINGS ARE POSTED ON MY QUILTCRAFTER BLOG.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

Just finished a pleasant catch-up read with you-all.  It's a blessing to be connected like this...   Yesterday was our 3rd day in a row to be out and about.  Got my haircut at 2:30.  Howard went to the grocery during that time and got us some catfish nuggets fried at the store.(Supper! Along with a small tossed salad I threw together.)  Then we took my Dyson vacuum to the repair shop and got the news that Dyson was no long making parts.  We're waiting today for a call about  that.   Repairman said people just throw them away and buy another vacuum instead of getting them repaired.  If that's the case with ours, it won't be another expensive Dyson.  There are too many new ones that cost less, now.  Then, we went to W-M for Rx pick-up and a few other supplies.  Then, and finally, we 'picked up' the pickup from the repair shop on our way home.  We're home for a few days, now.  H. was rather embarrassed because low brake fluid was all that was wrong.  The good thing?  No charge!

Trish, just the game for your "cheeky" imp, Dean, right?   Anything with the name 'assassin' would make one wonder and worry a bit.  Glad it's all in good fun.    Hope you can figure out your new radio...

Devonne,  I don't think there'll be much nursing.  Surgery will be quick with only the lightest of anesthesia.  He can even use the hand lightly immediately.  Of course, needs me to drive him home.  Stitches out in a couple of weeks, so I don't know what all that will require as for showers and other hygiene.  It's his left hand and he's r. handed, so that's good.
Enjoy your new toaster.  I should get one.  Am tired of cramming too-wide bread in mine!
I sometimes have that sensation in an ear when I go from hot weather outside into A/C.  It's most annoying until it resolves.  I didn't know what  actually was occuring...

Mary Lou, glad to hear from you.  How nice that David could come and you could have him all to yourself.  I'm sure the good feelings last for a bit after he or Lynn visit, showing how much they love you.  Good that you sought immediate care for that incident.  As Trish said, always better to know.

Well, I'll be off.  Resting up a bit, today, after the three busy days out.  Have foods, but not sure what I want to fix for supper.  Not unusual...

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

Like Judy, I am trying to catch up on the reading/happenings from you all.  It has been a few days for me.

It was chilly today, but sunny.  We had a small plane crash just a block from Aaron's house today.  I had just used the road it was on when I took the kids home from school!  The plane crashed into a housing area and landed right on top of a house.  Thank goodness nobody in the house has hurt, and the people even got their pets out.  Unfortunately, the two people in the plane died.  I just missed it by 15 or 20 minutes.

Dean is still feeling pretty well with the exception of extreme fatigue.  He had another blood transfusion today due to his low blood counts.  He is getting them about every 10 days to 2 weeks.  We met up in Cleveland clinic yesterday with the bone marrow transplant team.  WOW, we got a lot of information, but necessary to know.  He will spend 30 days in the hospital afterward and then come home.  We thought he would be in the bed, but no.  The first week he will be monitored extremely close for infections, but he can walk the halls and move around.  He can have visitors (masked) and they said I could even stay overnight. He is also a perfect candidate for this procedure.  His age is the only negative spot, but his good health overrides it.  So, we are looking to have that done after a couple more rounds of his chemo.

Judy, our Dyson died too.  We also did not get another expensive one.  I just went with a Powerforce Bissell and I like it just fine.  I do notice some dust around the canister after using, but other than that, it is great.

I have finished two jigsaw puzzles in the last week and now I am about to start on a new one.  It is 550 pieces and it is a cute one with a 1950's diner and customers in it.  Very different type for me.

Janet, your blocks look great!  I look forward to seeing your project finished.

I got my large flower pots out of the shed and bought a few geraniums.  I need to plant them and go buy some more annuals.  I also noticed my hygrangeas do not look good.  I think the late frost got the buds.  I am so sad on this.  I do see lots of new leaves but I believe the flowers only come on the old stalks.  I don't know if I will have any blooms this year.  It was only 35 degrees last night.

That is it for me for now.  Take care all.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

WHOLLY HOLY BLOOPERS....
1.  IRVING BENSON AND JESSIE CARTER WERE MARRIED ON OCT. 24 IN THE CHURCH.  SO ENDS A FRIENDSHIP THAT BEGAN IN SCHOOL DAYS.
2.  THIS AFTERNOON THERE WILL BE A MEETING IN THE SOUTH AND NORTH END OF THE CHURCH.  CHILDREN WILL BE BAPTIZED AT BOTH ENDS.

WE GOT THE RAIN WE WERE EXPECTING.  OUR FORESTS LOVE IT.

JUDY......I MADE YOUR MAC N CHEESE RECIPE BUT A SMALLER VERSION IN A 9 BY 9 PAN.  I DIDN'T NEED AS MUCH WITH ONLY 2 OTHERS TO SHARE WITH.  THIS TIME I TOPPED HALF THE DISH WITH A CRUSHED MIX OF CHEEZ-IT CRACKERS AND BUTTER.  IT GOT A THUMBS UP FROM ALL THREE OF US.  I NEVER HAVE RITZ CRACKERS AROUND BUT ALWAYS HAVE CHEEZ-ITS.
NICE TO HEAR HOWARD'S RECOVERY WON'T BE TOO DEBILITATING.   GOOD LUCK, HOWARD.

CHERYL......IT SOUNDS LIKE THINGS ARE MAKING HEADWAY FOR OUR DEAN.  ITS GOOD HE'S KEPT HIMSELF SO FIT AND HEALTHY.  PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS CONTINUE FOR OUR DEAN.

I HAVE LOTS OF LEFTOVERS TO EAT.  THERE'S ENOUGH FOR ANOTHER SMALL PEPPER STEAKS SUB, SOME TORTILLAS, AND ANOTHER HELPING OF MAC N CHEESE LEFT.  I WILL MAKE SOME POTATOE PANCAKES TOMORROW, I THINK.  I HAVE A NEIGHBOR NAN WHO LOVES THEM WITH SOUR CREAM AND I PROMISED HER SOME NEXT TIME I MADE THEM.  TIME TO FULFILL THAT PROMISE.

BEING A GLOOMY DAY, I LIKE TO KEEP THINGS SLOW.  I MAY READ TODAY AND WORK MY JIGSAW PUZZLE.  REMEMBER LADIES, ITS THE 2ND LEG OF THE TRIPLE CROWN RACES TOMORROW, THE PREAKNESS STAKES, FOR THOSE WITH AN INTEREST.  BUT FIRST, ITS OFF TO WALK MY LAPS.

STAY SAFE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

We went to Eddie’s class’s pinning ceremony yesterday. Traditionally you get pinned by an RN, so Heather pinned him. They announced awards, of which there was 3. One was highest GPA, one was something else, the. They announced they were giving  a Daisy award, which is a big fat deal (my words). For excellence in compassion, embodying the best of nursing, has to be nominated, one per class. Comes with a framed certificate, a little statue, a pin, and the opportunity for grants. Then he called Eddie’s name! We’re so happy for him and so proud! Pix are up on my blog.

There was cake after the ceremony, then most of his class headed out to Sweetwater, which is a bar and restaurant right on a river. We went back to Heather’s and Ed’s along with Jules, and we treated for pizza. The actual graduation is this afternoon, and he can put BSN after his name.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

WONKY ADS.......
1.  THE HOTEL HAS  BOWLING ALLIES, TENNIS COURTS, COMFORTABLE BEDS, AND OTHER ATHLETIC FACILITIES.
2.  GET RID OF AUNTS: ZAP DOES THE JOB IN 24 HOURS.

ITS GOING TO BE A GORGEOUS SPRING DAY WITH SUNSHINE AND MAYBE INTO THE 70S.  I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT THIS EARLY IN THE SEASON.

YIPPEE, ITS THE WEEKEND.  CHORES ARE MINIMAL TODAY SO I LOVE SATURDAYS.  I CAN TAKE THE TIME TO SEW OR READ THAT I NEED.
I PLAN TO MAKE THE POTATO PANCAKES THIS AFTERNOON.  I JUST LOVE THOSE LITTLE DARLINGS WITH SOUR CREAM.
I POSTED THE EZ MAC N CHEESE RECIPE FOR A 9 BY 9 DISH ON MY BLOG.  I THINK THE ONLY DIFFERENCES ARE THE AMOUNT OF SLICED AND SHREDDED CHEESES AND SOME DRY MUSTARD.  I LIKE MORE CHEESE IN THIS DISH.
I MAY ORDER SOME NEW JIGSAW PUZZLES TODAY.  I HAVE VERY LITTLE MONEY THAT I USE FOR ENTERTAINMENT AND I THINK THIS TIME I WILL INCLUDE THE PUZZLES IN THAT CATERGORY.  BITS AND PIECES IS HAVING A SALE.  CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT PUZZLES ARE COSTING $16.99 THESE DAYS AND SOME EVEN MORE?  ITS A SHOCK TO ME.  I WANT TO BUY SOME AND KEEP THEM FOR MYSELF FOR FUTURE RE-DOING.
REMEMBER, ITS PREAKNESS STAKES DAY, THE 2ND LEG OF THE TRIPLE CROWN THOROUGHBRED RACES.
WELL, I THINK THAT'S IT FOR TODAY.  STAY SAFE.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

I am on my iPad and I hope I get this posted before it dies on me!

Holly, congratulations to Eddie!

Janet, you are very welcome!

Trish, yes the two slices are beside each other and it’s long and slim.

Judy, unfortunately, I had to return the toaster to Walmart. It arrived damaged and wouldn’t even light up. I waited over two weeks to get it. I will order from Amazon from now on.

I went to Home Depot to get pea gravel for the holes but it was so heavy. I couldn’t lift it so I ended up getting some small paver stones. I’ll fill up the holes with the pavers and then add dirt. I haven’t done it yet, but will today in the evening.

Trish, it’s hard for me to find the fermented Kraut. I got lucky and found it at Costco. It’s hard to get at my Walmart, but it might be at a bigger Walmart. I’ll check Aldi the next time I go there.

Cheryl, I also love geraniums. I like the light pink ones. It’s good you will be able to stay with Dean at the hospital, but take care of yourself.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 10 ~ SAT MAY 16

I'm truly going daft!   Have been searching for Sunday (tomorrow's thread) because I'm thinking it's Sunday.  Has anything occurred to make it Sunday?  NO, nothing!  Not telling anyone else THAT.     Maybe it's because today is warm and humid instead of chilly and damp.  I even have the sunroom slider open and the furnace turned off.

Yes Holly, Congrats to Eddie.  What a legacy he has to follow.  Wonder what your dad would say about him and this?

We've heard nothing from the vacuum repair guy.  He was supposed to call on Thurs.  I'm not holding my breath-would just like to know if it's repairable or not...

Nothing going on here and now it's time to do supper.  It'll be sauteed shrimp, but I have to peel them first.  I simply  thaw and peel them, dry them on paper towels, heat some olive oil and a bit of butter in a skillet and while one side is sauteing, I sprinkle with Old Bay seasoning then flip them over for a couple of minutes on the other side.  Surprisingly tasty for something so easy.  It's the sides that I'm unsure of this time. I've got no salad fixin's, but I think I have two sweet potatoes which I'll microwave.  Need to go...
Have a good evening and sweet dreams.
Indy
