SANDRA oh my gosh, that is absolutely the worst smell, I will check my stash after I post, I've cleaned up a few times after that - I do use just plain old vanilla essence in a cup of water to do a final clean/wipe over, also you can make a paste from baking soda (bicarbonate soda) and smear it on, it will get rid of smells, I am glad of the win at Bingo though, so something good from the week!
It's been another lovely day here, I didn't enjoy it though, or yesterday, I've done something to my back, so very painful, I hope it will ease more tomorrow, it has eased a bit today. It seems to help laying flat, yesterday it was hard to walk, till I realised I was making it even worse by tensing up - I have been doing some gentle stretching yoga, and that is helping, old age is creeping up on me!!
Warwick is heading out again in the morning to meet his brother, most of the ornaments form their sister are being donated to the hostel and will be sold at their annual fete in September. I think they are meeting with solicitors and bank as well.
It's Megan's birthday next week, she went shopping to find new clothes, the age old problem of when you have the money you can't find anything, I had asked her to let us know what to get her. Have you ever noticed that if you don't want something (and have spare cash) that you can find lots and lots of things to buy, but never something when you do have the $$ ![]()
I need to get organised for bed, see you tomorrow!

It was high 30’s at 8 am today! But sunny.

Have a great Sunday everyone. A relaxing day for me.
Trish, you have amazed me with how much you exercise. Not only that, but going into the city by yourself and getting on and off the bus. I have to be very careful with every step I take because of my bad knees (osteoarthritis). I can't do the curbs at any of the shopping strips. It's gotten worse in the last year. Surgery is on the horizon for sure, lol! I was able to get up Gary's steps by taking it slow. Rest until your back heals. Did you lift something heavy? Hugs! ![]()
I ordered Sadie Grace a sterling silver necklace for her birthday. Will be here tomorrow. I also got her a deck pole and a hummingbird feeder. She can learn responsibility by taking care of the birds. Gary can do the sugar water for her.
It's cold in here so I went from a/c to heat, lol.

MANGLED MODIFIERS......
1. PLUNGING 1,000 FEET INTO THE GORGE, WE SAW YOSEMITE FALLS.
2. CALF BORN TO FARMER WITH TWO HEADS.
ITS A CLOUDY DAY HERE IN THE 40S. IT MAY HIT 70S ON TUES OR WED.
ITS MY DAY OF REST. I PLAN TO DO JUST THAT.
I WATCHED THE DERBY YESTERDAY AND ENJOYED IT. SURPRISE ENDING. MY HORSE, DANON BOURBON, CAME IN 5TH. IF THE RACE HAD ONLY BEEN A MILE LONG, HE'D HAVE WON BUT FADED AT THE VERY END. THE ONE I CHOSE TO COME IN SECOND,RENEGADE, DID JUST THAT, CAME IN 2ND. IT WAS A LOVELY DAY AND LOTS OF COLOR AND FASHIONS GALORE TO ENJOY.
I MADE MY POTATO PANCAKES YESTERDAY. I TRIED USING MY ROTARY CHEESE GRATER, BUT THE OUTCOME WAS STILL NOT SMOOTH ENOUGH. MY MIX SHOULD BE SMOOTH LIKE THAT OF AUNT JEMIMA PANCAKE MIX. I HAD TO RESORT BACK TO MY BOX GRATER. IT TAKES TIME AND ENERGY ON MY PART BUT ITS WORTH IT NOW AND THEN.
TRISH......SORRY YOU HURT YOUR BACK. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. SOMETIMES IT ONLY TAKES A DAY TO CURE, OTHER TIMES LONGER. I HOPE YOURS IS IN GOOD ORDER TODAY.
JANET.....YOUR POSTS ARE VERY, VERY SHORT LATELY. ARE YOU GOING TO POST A FEW PICTURES OF YOUR QUILTS FOR US? YOU KNOW HOW WE LIKE TO SEE QUILTS.
DEVONNE......YOU HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY RE-ORGANIZING AT YOUR HOUSE. IT FEELS SO GOOD TO HAVE THINGS EASIER TO SEE AND USE SO ITS GOOD YOU DID THAT. I HOPE YOU FIND A BIG DIFFERENCE IN YOUR LITTLE WORLD.
YOUR SADIE GRACE SHOULD BE VERY HAPPY WITH YOUR CHOICES FOR HER. YOU DID GOOD.
I'VE GOT TO GET MY LAPS DONE TODAY IF NOTHING ELSE, SO I WILL DO THAT NEXT. HUGS LADIES. QB S![]()

Devonne, what’s a deck pole?
50’s here. In Portland OR, where Steph lives, it will be 87 today! She’s so glad they had AC put in when they replaced their heater.
We’re meeting our cookie swap group at 3 today for a late lunch/early dinner.

We're resting up today after our 6-hr. round trip trek, yesterday. And, I have a good report. We had a good time. Were welcomed with open arms and they meant it. We got caught up on all four grown grandkids lives and we met our great grandson, Jude who is 3 1/2 and a livewire. Loud, loud, loud and showing off much of the time, but obedient when corrected. David wasn't there, was not even invited. Sadly, when he filed for divorce from their mother, Rita, the kids sided with her and have no relationship with their dad, now. She is sad about that. We were greatly surprised that David has never finalized the divorce, after 3 years. Rita is a totally changed person, was really glad to see us, sat with us the whole time and still hopes David will come back. Wears her wedding ring all the time and sees her life as if they are still married, which legally, they are! We had NO idea...
We were very tired when we got home just in time to watch the Derby which we never miss.
We didn't see all the preliminaries, just the little bit before the actual race. Wow! what an unexpected win. I felt sorry for the horse that toppled over and was scratched and even more so for his jockey. All that preparation and hype and then that.
I don't know what a deck pole is either?
This has been a very lazy day--church on-line, watching TV, reading the papers and doing the puzzles and a few phone calls. We had a salad and a frozen pizza for supper. More tv tonight and then a fresh start tomorrow. ML will come here on Tuesday for another cleaning session. That's it from the Lyons household. Have a good evening and sweet dreams. ![]()

Sandra-=thanks for asking. Our area is having some “tower issues” as they call it. Service has been spotty. Supposedly they are going to have the issue resolved by midweek. They say our bill will be adjusted?

ITS TRUE.......
1. LET TODAY BE THE DAY YOU SMILE MORE AND WORRY LESS.
2. TODAY I AM DOING NOTHING BECAUSE I STARTED DOING IT YESTERDAY AND I WASN'T FINISHED AND I'M NO QUITTER.
ITS ALREADY 59 HERE AND WILL HIT MID 60S TODAY WITH LOTS OF SUNSHINE. A LOVELY SPRING DAY.
I WATCHED A HALLMARK MOVIE LAST NITE THAT I RECORDED ON SATURDAY. IT WAS ABOUT THE KENTUCKY DERBY AND THE BLANKET OF ROSES. STRANGE, BUT THE HORSE THAT WON THAT RACE WAS TRAINED BY A WOMAN. WHAT A COINCIDENCE SINCE THE ONE THAT WON THE ACTUAL RACE WAS THE FIRST WOMAN EVER TO TRAIN A DERBY WINNER. THOSE MOVES ARE MADE MONTHS AHEAD OF TIME.
JUDY....... HOW GREAT YOU HAD A GOOD VISIT WITH FAMILY AND FINALLY MET YOUR GRGRSON JUDE. A WONDERFUL WEEKEND FOR YOU.
JANET.....LETS HOPE YOUR PUTER ISSUES ARE RESOLVED IN YOUR AREA SOON. TOUGH BEING WITHOUT IT WHEN YOU WANT IT.
TRISH......I HOPE BY NOW YOUR BACK IS MENDED AND YOU ARE ABLE TO GET THRU YOUR DAYS NORMALLY.
I HAVE FLOORS TO WASH TODAY. ITS MY MONTHLY CHORE FOR MONDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK IN THE MONTH.
I REC'D A BOOK YESTERDAY FROM THRIFTBOOKS, GHOST IN TROUBLE BY CAROLYN HART SO I HAVE STARTED THAT ONE. ANOTHER 3 COZY MYSTERIES ARE COMING THIS WEEK.
AS FOR COOKING, I WILL MAKE SOME SHELLS WITH MEAT SAUCE TODAY. I REALLY LOVE THAT DISH AND ITS BEEN AWHILE SINCE I MADE IT. I ALSO HAVE SOME SIRLOIN STEAK DEFROSTED SO THAT WILL BE A MEAL OR TWO THIS WEEK. I AM A MEAT AND POTATOES PERSON AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Happy Star Wars Day to all! May the fourth be with you!
Ugh. Saturday a tooth came off my partial denture. I called them and went in this morning. It can be reattached by the lab, but I won’t get it back til Wednesday afternoon. So soup for me.
Upper 60’s and sunny here.

A deck pole attaches to a deck railing with a clamp. It gives you a place to hang your feeder. Most poles go in the ground, but I want her to be able to feed them from the deck.
I've been lazy this morning. Roomba is going and doing a great job. I'll use a slightly damp mop and go over the floors this week.
I'm doing my nails and I'll be headed out to the UPS store, Catos, Walmart and Ingles. I like to get my ground beef at Ingles.

May the 1/4 be with you! At least that's what my shirt says today! ![]()
Saturday was a lot of fun. We picked 5 gallons of strawberries in about 30 minutes! They were huge! We bought 2 strawberry ice creams, and a strawberry Fried Pie. It was all so good! Then went to visit my MIL, got her subway for lunch. My app had a free footlong, hubby and I share a footlong, plus a $2 off, it all worked, so a cheap lunch! Then to Chattanooga, for Church then on to the minor league baseball game. ![]()
We did watch the derby on my phone. We saw the jockey being thrown and the horse falling on it's back. A bunch of people around us were watching on their phones, you could hear the gasps, when that happened! ![]()
We stayed for a good bit of the game, ate too much, and left before the end because we had a long drive home. We did stop off at Buc-ees on the way home, great halfway point, and we could stretch our legs. Todd filled the truck, and then we walked around the store. Then homeward. Simba was so glad to see us. Alex came by to give him supper and walk him. We left his door open while we were gone. ![]()
Yesterday, we were both exhausted. I guess we are getting old! The back of my thighs hurt from picking the berries. It's better today, I keep stretching those muscles. ![]()
Still tired today but doing better. Not as tired. ![]()
My shoulder was only a little sore after Saturday. It feels fine today. I am finally heading in the right direction. ![]()
Beautiful day here cool this morning should peak at about 80*! We have puppy's door open to let in some warm air. We turned the heat off when we had the 90+ days and have not turned it back on. Used mother nature to warm the house! Or cool the house! No A/C yet either. We are ready if we have to turn it on. Supposed to be warm this week then cooler next week. We are still on that spring roller coaster of weather! Usually we are done by now! Not complaining! Garden looks great as do my lilies! ![]()
Todd has this upcoming Saturday off. We have not decided what we will do. We have time to figure that out! ![]()
You are now caught up on our little corner of the world! ![]()
Later my Friends! ![]()

Theresa, fresh strawberries sound delicious! The fresh ones here in Ohio will not be ready until June sadly. I have a hard time waiting for them. They actually taste like strawberries; the ones in the groceries stores are white inside and don't taste like much.
Sandra, rotten potato smell is AWFUL to be sure! I had one starting to rot not too long ago and got ir right out of the house. I keep my potatoes in a wire rack in the kitchen, so they do get air and do not rot as fast.
Trish, hope your back is a better today.
Holly, funny quip here; I read your post as Steph was 87! HAHAHA. I read it twice before making myself slow down cause I know she is not 87. Old eyeballs and quick reading.
It was 70 today and lovely, which was nice because we could sit outside. Dean's nephew and family are up visiting from Florida and they wanted to stop by to visit. Dean asked his doc a treatment today and he said it would be fine as long as we used Covid protocol and distanced of 6 feet. If outside, the guests would not have to wear a mask. So it was nice to visit with them. Abigail (grand daughter) graduates high school on the 22nd and we will not be able to attend. Dean is hoping that he will be able to got to the graduation party on June 5 since it is outside, but I am uneasy about it. We shall see.

REFERENCES WANTED.....
1. JERRY REMY THEN HIT AN RBI SINGLE OFF HAAS'S LEG, WHICH ROLLED INTO RIGHT FIELD.
2. ALTHOUGH MY MOTHER WAS IN IT, THIEVES STOLE A SUITCASE COTAINING JEWELRY AND CLOTHING FROM THE CAR OF MRS. VANYA KOSKIS YESTERDAY.
LOVELY, LOVELY DAY WILL HIT LOW 70S. LOVELY SPRING DAY.
THERESA......HOW WONDERFUL WITH ALL THOSE STRAWBERRIES. I LOVE FRESH STRAWBERRIES IN A BOWL WITH WHIPPED CREAM OR ON TOP OF SHORTCAKE. THE STORE-BOUGHT ONES WORK FOR ME.
I MADE MY MEAT SAUCE WITH SHELL PASTA SO I HAVE LOTS OF LEFTOVERS TO FINISH IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO. I GUESS I WON'T STARVE. I ALSO HAVE A NICE PIECE OF NEW YORK SIRLOIN STEAK TO COOK SOON.
I GOT MY FLOORS DONE YESTERDAY BUT JUST SWIFFER-MOPPED IT. SO MUCH EASIER AND MY HEAD WAS A BIT WONKY YESTERDAY SO NO WET MOP TO WRING OUT.
I AM SO HAPPY MY AIR UNIT WENT IN BEFORE MAY. WE ARE HAVING SOME RATHER WARM DAYS WHICH MEANS MY APT. WOULD BE ROASTING WITHOUT HELP. THANK GOD FOR SMART INVENTORS.
SALLY, MY LIBRARIAN VISITS TODAY. I HOPE SHE BROUGHT ME A NICE COZY MYSTERY TO READ.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Cheryl, that’s funny! I often have to read things more than once.
Low 80’s today and sunny. Manda and family landed in Rome this morning to start their 2 week family trip. I’ll be relieved when they are back home.
Nothing interesting here. Ralph is watching a video and I’m going to cross stitch.

I wouldn’t go overseas for a trip. My son, DIL and grandson are going to Italy in august .
My frien was scheduled for a Mediterranean cruise and the cruise line cancelled. All $ refunded.
High 79’s already today. Loving it!
I have a conference call with our financial guy and equitable today. Never done one before.
Shop hop is in progress. I’ve been to one shop so far. Lol

Guess we're all having the up and down temps. We were warm but windy yesterday and today is cloudy and chilly. For me, as long as it's not snow and ice, I'm okay with it.
Howard has gone to Chicago for his VA hearing test. Hard to believe they want old vets to drive that far or farther for something like that. Friend, Albert, just home from snowbirding in Fla. graciously is driving him there and back, so I'm home alone...wasn't there a movie entitled that?
I know...not funny!!
ML was planning to come over and we were going to work on my clothes closet. But, I'm not feeling up to par today, so I begged off. Just wasn't up to making those decisions. Too bad because today worked out best for her this week. But with no pressure to do it, only desire, we can wait.
Cheryl, I understand your concern. With your visiting relatives, you can control the distancing but when you go somewhere else, that gets trickier. Dean seems to be very social and he's been the best grandpa to all of them, but his well-being needs to come first, now. ![]()
Theresa, it's fun to hear about your mini adventure. Your more than deserve some quality time together after all you've had to attend to. Nice you could visit your MIL at the same time.
And, soon, you get to do it again...![]()
Since I've been in a dither for who knows how long, it feels good to be in a quieter place this week. Nowhere to go until Friday, our small group get-together--not here!
I'm on for potato salad which I'll make on Thurs. We're having a speaker who is the niece of one of our members (she's also ML's 3rd cousin on her dad's side). Lorelei is just back from Papua, New Guinea where she's become the president of her late aunt's ministry. The aunt translated the New Testament into the tribe's language some years ago. To get to their village requires long and short flights and the final leg is a 3-hr. trip down the river by canoe, thru a steaming jungle.
We'll have videos, too.
Have a good evening and sweet dreams.

Cheryl, I know you and Dean are disappointed not being able to go to Abigail's graduation. I was surprised Carter didn't have an 8th grade ceremony. They only walked to the high school.
Sandra, you gave me an idea. I bought some shortbread zero sugar cookies. I can use one of those as my cake with whipped topping and strawberries.
I have the annual Medicare wellness exam in the morning at 11:00. I'm anxious to see what my A1C is and also to find out what is up with my blood pressure refills. The last two times I only got 15 and 10 refills. Who wants to make trips to the pharmacy every two weeks? I was getting 90 day refills. I do have a new insurance company this year so maybe that is why.

Janet, I’m with you on not traveling overseas at the moment due to the geopolitical issues. But they are having a great time, and sending pix.
I had sent Manda a nice Xmas check for the family, and she used the money to pay for the family tour of the Coliseum, which is great.
Upper 60’s and windy, with rain later. I have lasagna going in the crockpot for dinner.

MISPELLINGS.......
1. THEY WERE SWEATHEARTS ALL THRU HIGH SCHOOL.
2. I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE FOUND DISHES AND TOOLS AND BOWELS FROM THE AMERICAN INDIANS.
THE CLOUDS ARE MOVING IN AGAIN. SHOULD RAIN THIS AFTERNOON AND ALL DAY. WILL CLEAR BY TOMORROW. TEMPS OK THO IN THE 60S.
MY GRDAU G CAME OVER YESTERDAY AND I FED HER SUPPER. WE HAD THE AMERICAN CHOP SUEY/SHELLS IN MEAT SAUCE AND CHOC COOKED PUDDING FOR DESSERT. IT WAS NICE TO SEE HER AND CHAT. SHE WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THE 'OLD' DAYS SO I TOLD HER A FEW STORIES. MAKES ME GLAD I AM ENJOYING AN INSULATED, HEATED APT SINCE I STILL REMEMBER THE COLD-WATER FLATS THAT WERE SOOOO BITTER COLD IN THE WINTER WITHOUT PROPER INSULATION AND EVEN WITH 2 WOOD OR OIL STOVES GOING. I USUALLY HAD A COLD NEARLY ALL WINTER LONG. WE HUNG WOOLEN ARMY BLANKETS OVER DOORWAYS TO KEEP THE HEAT IN THE KITCHEN AT NITE AND SLEPT UNDER 4 BLANKETS AND A QUILT WITH OUR HEADS BURIED UNDERNEATH. YUP, I DON'T MISS THOSE DAYS.
TONITE IS BINGO NITE. AGAIN I HOPE TO WIN A BIT. LOSING WILL NEVER BREAK ME, BUT ITS SO NICE TO SEE A SMALL POT COMING IN MY DIRECTION.
I THINK I'LL MAKE ME A STEAK SANDWICH FOR LUNCH SINCE I DON'T WANT TO COOK AFTER BINGO. I CAN FINISH OFF THE SHELLS FOR SUPPER.
NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR WENT TO THE FOOD PANTRY THIS MORNING WHEN IT OPENED. A LINE OF CARS EVEN PARKED OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. SHE SAID THEY NEVER HAD SO MANY PEOPLE AND EVEN RAN OUT OF MANY ITEMS. PEOPLE ARE HURTING. I AM GLAD I CAN STILL AFFORD TO SEND MY SON SHOPPING FOR ME TWICE A MONTH.
NOTHING ELSE EXCITING HERE. TAKE CARE MY FRIENDS. HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S ![]()
