Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

Rainy and very cool and dreary today.

Dean had his third chemo infusion and had to get another blood transfusion today also.  He is exhausted, but no other awful side effects.

Trish, glad to hear that you did not hit anyone at the funeral.  They can be so emotional and gut-wrenching at times.  Most people are on "edge".

Devonne, you are always so busy!!  I feel like a slug compared to you.  You can come organize my house!  My frig is OK, gut my cupboards need a good cleaning and getting rid of out dated spices, etc.  I always think I am going to do it, but then do something else.  I did take a large bag of fabric pieces and batting scraps to the local thrift shop (along with lots of other things).  I really need to sort thru and get rid of more.
We had so many blankets, towels and sheets from our camper and I donated most of them too.

Sandra, glad your inspection went well.

Strings, so sorry you are having so many issues with Darrell.  Prayers for him and you.

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

CHERYL I am so glad he isn't having side effects, the blood transfusions will help, not for long though I guess, I know he will need them regularly, he is so strong and fit usually and that will help his body recover after ((((hugs))))

DEVONNE it is so good to have things organised, I spent time last week de cluttering surfaces we had gotten slack with, makes it look so much neater, I also did a whole lot of pantry organising, got new containers that are similar and it looks so much better now.

SANDRA I am so sorry for the loss of your hubby's brother, I am also the oldest in my family, I don't like being that, my brother is 2 years younger and my sis is 13 years younger. Quite a gap, and she says she hates thinking that she will be the only one left.

HOLLY we don't have a tax system like that so I don't really understand yours, our tax  is taken out before we get paid, and then once a year we can claim expenses and SOMETIMES get a refund, we haven't had to do that though since retiring as we don't get a salary any more, and pensions from the govt are not taxable. I'm glad I don't have to keep records any more, I used to travel a lot for work, and my car expenses could be claimed, as well as uniform ones if we had them, and I did for many years, or uniform for reps were lovely when I did that work, lovely slacks or skirts, shirts, vests and jackets, we were easy to spot in stores. LOL

Nothing happening here, I did class this morning - ouch!, then Dean got back from camp around mid-day, he chattered all the way home, and then stayed with me for a bit with John while the cleaners were at theirs, then he got quiet and I knew he was tired, not much sleep I expect, Megan said he hasn't talked to her at all tonight, so I filled her in on the gossip from camp, he was happy with the food, they gave them morning and afternoon tea and supper as well as the 3 meals, and all had his approval, he is a hungry boy and food is his god LOL He was particularly happy with the coffee/tea station available all day ( and night)

Just spent a good hour getting the Mr Spotify on his phone, we got it done, his niece has set up the play list from the wake on it for everyone, I don't really remember hearing much of it at all. I have had it set up for so long, but he had trouble for some reason.

I want to get to bed early, I am tired tonight, didn't sleep well last couple nights, I need to make my brain switch off

See you later!

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

YOGI BERRA SAYS......
1.  TELL ME, HOW DID YOU LOVE MY PICTURE?
2.  A BACHELOR'S LIFE IS NO LIFE FOR A SINGLE MAN.
3.  GO SEE IT AND SEE FOR YOURSELF WHY YOU SHOULDN'T SEE IT.

RAIN, RAIN, RAIN ALL DAY AND TONITE PROBABLY, OFF AND ON.

I WOKE EARLY, AROUND 6 TO A TERRIBLE ODOR.  I KEPT SNIFFING AND THEN IT CAME TO ME.  A BAD POTATO.  YIKES.  I'VE DEALT WITH THOSE BEFORE AND ITS NO FUN.  YUP, I OPENED MY KITCHEN CLOSET DOOR AND WAS KNOCKED SIDWAYS.  I FOUND ONE, ONLY ONE, ROTTING POTATO IN A BAG MY SON BOUGHT FOR ME ONLY 3 WKS AGO.  I HAD TO TOSS THE WHOLE SHEBANG AND THEN I WENT THRU THE BAG BOUGHT SATURDAY  AND SNIFFED.  IF ONE HAD ANY ODOR AT ALL, I TOSSED THOSE AS WELL.  I ENDED UP WITH ONLY 10 SMALL TO MEDIUM TATERS WHICH I WASHED BEFORE REBAGGING THEM AND THIS TIME PUTTING THEM IN THE FRIDGE.  I HAD SCRUBBING TO DO AND THEN SWIFFERED MY KITCHEN AND CLOSET FLOORS TO HELP FIGHT THE ODOR.  CRUMBLED UP SEVERAL SHEETS OF NEWSPAPER AND STUCK THEM IN THE CLOSET TO HELP ABSORB ANY ODORS ALONG WITH A BOWL OF BAKING SODA.  OF COURSE I HAD TO TAKE THE TRASH OUT IMMEDIATELY.  WHAT A MESS.  AND ALL BEFORE 7 THIS MORNING.  I HAVE SPRAYED WITH DISINFECTANT SPRAY AND OPENED MY BEDROOM WINDOWS TO HELP MOVE THE BAD AIR OUT.  I HAD TO TAKE A SHOWER RIGHT AFTER AND TOSS MY CLOTHES IN THE HAMPER.  LUCKY FOR ME I AM DOING A WASH TODAY.  THEN I MANAGED TO CATCH ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF OF SLEEP BEFORE RISING FOR GOOD.
ON THE GOOD SIDE, I WON $4 AT BINGO LAST NITE.  MY FIRST WIN IN 4 WEEKS.  FELT MIGHTY NICE.
MY PLANS FOR POTATO DISHES FOR THIS AND NEXT WEEK HAVE CHANGED.  LUCKY ME I HAVE SOME FROZEN FRIES AND SOME TATER TOTS IN THE FREEZER.  MY SON WON'T BE SHOPPING AGAIN TIL MAY 9TH.  I LOVE MY POTATOES.
LOVE HAVING MY AIR CONDITIONER NOW.  I CAN SET IT AND FORGET IT AND IT'S ALWAYS SO COMFY NOW.  YIPPEE.
TODAY IS CRAFT MORNING SO I NEED TO GET OUT THERE, DO MY LAPS FIRST, THEN JOIN THE OTHERS WHERE I CAN DO MORE HANDSEWING OF A BINDING ON ONE OF MY LADIES.
IN THE MEANTIME, I AM THINKING OF ADDING A BIT MORE TO MY GIRL DRAGON WH.  MAYBE A BUNCH OF FLOWERS BENDING DOWN OVER HER FOR ADDED COLOR.  MY BRAIN LOVES TO THINK OF IDEAS.

CHERYL.......GOOD TO HEAR THAT DEAN'S 3RD CHEMO INFUSION WENT WELL ENOUGH AND HE'S NOT HAVING BAD SIDE EFFECTS.  GOOD FOR HIM.  PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS CONTINUE DAILY.

TRISH.....WE HAVE TO PAY INCOME TAX ON OUR RETIREMENT BENEFITS AND EVEN ON SOCIAL SECURITY INCOME ALONE IF IT EXCEEDS 25 THOUSAND BUCKS A YEAR.  FOR COUPLES, ITS A BIT HIGHER.  LUCKY ME I HAVEN'T HIT THAT PLATEAU YET.  AND I AM BLESSED TO LIVE IN A NICE LITTLE APT. WITH GOOD SERVICES AND GOOD FRIENDS.  I CAN MANAGE TO EAT WELL ON MY INCOME.

STAY SAFE MY LADIES.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

Trish, I was referring to property taxes. Jersey’s are high, as we fund education with them, and that’s why we are always in the top 10 in literacy in the country. We pay them quarterly.

Another dreary day here. I spent some time deleting emails that I should never have kept. I try to do it once a month.

Cheryl, I’m glad Dean isn’t suffering with the chemo. It must be so hard on both of you!

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

We're planning on being home all day today.  Howard had lunch with the ROMEOS yesterday and ML, who was out and about, brought  Subway sandwiches by for hers and my lunch.
We both had eye Dr. appts. on Tuesday.  Both had some issues.  (Our doc was out for several mos. receiving chemo and radiation for throat CA.  He's back after joining another practice.)

Doc was surprised and a bit alarmed at the deterioration of sight in Howard's R. eye.  He now has wet macular degen. and is seeing a retinologist in May.  He also has dry M.D. in his L. eye plus the  Fuch's dystrophy and wrinkling of both retinas  that developed after his  2nd. cataract surgery in 1216.  As for me, I have some "crinkling" of my R. cornea which causes blurriness but can be corrected IF it starts to bother me.  Sometimes, though, what they do doesn't fix the problem, thus the wait to see.  I actually don't notice it...

Saturday, we have to make the 3-hr. trip to the baby shower for H's. grandson and wife.  He so wants to see his 3 1/2 yr. old first great grandson and  all his grandchildren, who we've not seen in years with the family mess! It's a long drive but an easy one, so I plan  to do some of the driving.  We will come home the same day.  However, we are taking small suitcases with a change of clothing, meds, and any other daily necessities, just in case...

Cheryl, I'm glad Dean has you to accompany him on this new journey.  So hard on both of you, but you've been a team for many years.  I'm praying for you every day, too.

Trish, thanks for the explanation of the names.  That is interesting.  Made me think of an old friend who was married twice and both wives were named, Beverly, not the most common of names.  I can't imagine how strange it was to say goodbye to her for Warwick and all of you,  especially with the kind of hands on care that you did for so many years.  Blessings as you adapt to your new normal.
Can you imagine what we'd all look like if we consumed the number of calories a growing boy eats?   Is this the year Dean makes the transition for what we call high school to uni or does he have another year?

Devonne, I don't think you're crazy!  We all get on jags that consume us for a bit...then it's something else.  It feels so good to have a handle on a problem that's been bugging us.  I more than need to do the same thing with my food, frig, etc.

It's sunny, but cool with the threat of another freeze tomorrow night.  Really?  We're still under our electric blanket most nights.  Glad I didn't put my winter clothes away...

Closing this and getting busy.  I'm a slow poke, especially in the a.m.   Have a good day.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

My annual eye exam was yesterday. Did you know you're supposed to wash your eyelids twice a day? I did not know that! She recommended Cereve Foaming Facial Wash and I would see an improvement in the redness in my eyes. I've never used any kind of soap on my face. When I was younger, I faithfully used Noxzema every night.

Cheryl, how far away from home do you travel for Dean's treatments? Always thinking of you and sending prayers for Dean.

Only 66 today....a cold front, lol!

After finishing the fridge, I went thru my plastic containers and drinking glasses. I will eventually switch to only glass containers. I have two full boxes to take to the thrift store. A little more work on the pantry and I'll be finished.

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

Devonne, thanks for that reminder.  I have heard that you should wash your eyelids but not how often.  The recommendation was to use Johnson's Baby Shampoo for that.  And it was to rid your lids of those microscopic mites that we all have--that cause itching and redness.  Do I do this?  NO, never even think of it...

Howard is on his way to his VA meeting/appt.  It's the first Friday of each month and the wait time is hours!  He will take a number when he gets there.  The earlier, the better...

ML is supposed to be coming over for us to work on something toward my cleanup/clear out.
I'm not much in the mood for it as we have our trek to the baby shower ("sprinkle") tomorrow and that is the only thing on my mind.  We both dread the 3-hour drive, one way.  But Howard wants to go and it's his family and we've never even seen his 3 1/2 yr. old great grandson. Hope it goes well...fingers crossed!

Howard's ex, Jane, was supposed to be going to Idaho (from Alabama) the end of this week, so I called her to wish them a safe trip.  They were already there, early, and about to leave for home.  She sent a picture of Steve, hers and Howard's oldest son.  He's going on 56 and has of course, aged quite a bit.  We haven't seen him for many years and when I tentatively asked Jane if she could tell them Hello, at her discretion, she honestly told me she didn't think it was a good idea as any time she brings up family, he shuts her down!  I just thought it was funny to ignore that. I'm glad she was straightforward and I'm glad Steve lets HER into his life which is more than David does, for either of his parents. Wonder if he'll be at the shower?

Sorry girls.  Guess you're my sounding board this morning.

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

IT'S TRUE.......
1.  I'VE REACHED THE AGE WHEN MY TRAIN OF THOUGHT OFTEN LEAVES THE STATION WITHOUT ME.
2.  LIFE IS BETTER WHEN YOU'RE LAUGHING.

ITS 55 HERE AND SUNNY.  VERY NICE.

DEVONNE......LIKE YOU, I PREFER GLASS CONTAINERS.  I HAVE A TON ON PLASTICS BUT I SEND FOOD ALL OVER THE PLACE HERE AND TO SON OR DAUGHTER SO THE PLASTIC IS RELIABLE AND CHEAP IF THEY DON'T RETURN THEM.

I WASH MY FACE WITH DOVE SOAP EVERY MORNING.  I NEVER THOUGHT I SHOULD DO MY EYELIDS FOR ANY SPECIAL REASON.  NOW AND THEN MY EYES GET WATERING.  MAYBE I WILL TAKE MORE ATTENTION TO MY EYELIDS NOW.

WOKE UP AND WENT INTO KITCHEN.  STILL A FAINT ODOR OF BAD POTATO.  I FOUND A WET SPOT IN THE BACK OF THE CLOSET.  I TOOK EVERYTHING OUT, WASHED THE WHOLE FLOOR AND THEN DID A VINEGAR RINSE.  I THEN FOUND OUT MY SWIFFER WET MOP WAS GIVING OFF AN ODOR.  SO TOSSED THE SCRUBBER AND WILL PUT ON A NEW ONE.  I THINK I HAVE FINALLY HANDLED IT.  I WILL PUT A CONTAINER IN THE CLOSET TO PUT MY POTATO BAGS SO IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS AGAIN, I WILL JUST TOSS THE WHOLE CONTAINER.  I AM GETTING TOO OLD FOR ALL THIS SCRUBBING.  ITS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE 9 YEARS I HAVE BEEN HERE.
ANYWAY, MY DAY WILL BE GOOD GOING FORWARD.  I HAVE TO TAKE OUT MY TRASH AGAIN AND WILL TAKE OUT NAN'S AND MICHELE'S FOR THEM, TOO.
I HAVE LEFTOVER PORK CHOPS AND SMASHED POTATOES FOR MEALS AND I THINK A BLT FOR LUNCH WILL TASTE GOOD.  IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I HAD A BLT.  I HAVE A COUPLE SMALL TOMATOES LEFT THAT I NEED TO USE UP AND A NICE HEAD OF ICEBERG.  I BUY THE CUPBOARD BACON SO THAT'S NO PROBLEM.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WILL BE DOING TODAY OTHER THAN A COUPLE OF MINOR CHORES.  I KNOW I WILL ENJOY IT THO.
JUST LOVE HAVING THE AIR CONDITIONER.  SET IT AND FORGET IT IS MY MOTTO.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

I keep a bottle of baby wash in the shower and wash my eyelids, especially the lashes, before I wash my hair. I think it was the dermatologist that told me about that years ago.

I’m working on my pantry closet, mostly rearranging and culling. I have 3 bags to go. A lot of Tupperware that I haven’t used since I retired. Two tart pans with removable bottoms- I’ve never made a tart in my life! I had to stop because my knees were aching.

Leftovers for dinner, I swear they multiply in the fridge!

Merry Beltane to all!

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

[size=150][size=75]I am back...two times in one day, lol.
I have never washed my eyelids with soap because I didn't want to get soap in my eyes. She said your eyelids have small oil glands that keep your tears from evaporating so quickly and you don't wan't those to get blocked (clogged?) I thought warm water from the shower was enough...nope!

Today all the 8th graders walked to their new high school, which is really close. After that, they got early release. Greg went to do the walk, but parents couldn't walk with their child.

My rest is over so I'll get back to work. About two more hours and I'll be finished with everything! Sandra, I did keep some plastic containers to send food home with family.

I don't know what is happening with this size issue...sorry about that.

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

Afternoon y'all!

Holly Simba came with that name and it fits him!

My eye doc a few years back gave me a product for washing my eyelids, call occu-scrub.  It's pricey.  $20 for a bottle, $10 for the travel size and it's a foam soap.  All the bottles I had gotten the pump barely worked if at all.  Unlucky I guess.  Once I was done with them I did regular soap.  Cheaper, if you keep your eyes closed good it doesn't irritate your eyes.  The Occu-Scrub is supposed to be none irritating.  The pump irritated me!

Mom's taxes are done.  Bill paid!   Now to make an appointment with the probate court for my next steps!

Been my usual busy.  I bought some bins from Amazon to put my 2 1/2 inch strips in.  I love them.  I didn't get the Art Bin ones.  They are longer than these, these are cheaper, and you get 4 of them, not one!  They will hold an entire jelly roll! I will need more, as I still have 2 jelly rolls not in a container.  Tioncy is the company.  They come in 2 widths so if you order be careful, and make sure you get the 3 in width ones.

We have gone to early vote today.  Tomorrow we will go to Rome (GA) to pick strawberries, visit my MIL and then go to Chattanooga to see a minor league baseball game, then drive home!  Long day but it will be fun!

The minor league team is a farm team for the Reds.  Not vested, but I love these games.

Nothing else exciting from my little corner of the world!

Later my Friends

Re: ODT SUNDAY APRIL 26 ~ SAT MAY 2

LOST IN TRANSLATION......
1.  IN THE WINDOW OF A SWISS FURRIER:  FUR COATS MADE FOR LADIES FROM THEIR OWN SKIN.
2.  ON THE BOX OF A CLOCKWORK TOY MADE IN HONG KONG......GUARANTEED TO WORK THOUGHOUT ITS USEFUL LIFE.

WE HAD RAIN LAST NITE BUT ITS JUST CLOUDY RIGHT NOW AND 60.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT ON WASHING EYELIDS.  I HAVE STARTED TO WASH MINE MORE.  I HAVE IVORY SOAP ON MY LIST FOR NEXT WEEK BUT IN THE MEANTIME I AM USING DOVE.  I DO NOT GET ANY SOAP IN MY EYES IF I KEEP THEM CLOSED.
ITS SATURDAY SO ONLY A FEW MINOR CHORES NEED DOING, ONE OF WHICH IS JUST SORTING MY PILLS FOR THE NEXT WEEK.
I PLAN TO MAKE SOME POTATO PANCAKES TODAY.  I STILL HAD 10 GOOD TATERS LEFT THE OTHER DAY.  WILL USE MOST OF THEM.
I PLACED AN ORDER WITH TARGET FOR SOME VANILLA PLUG-INS AND SOME SWIFFER PRODUCTS.  THEY HAD A VANILLA COLOGNE SO I AM TRYING A SMALL ONE TO SEE IF I LIKE IT.  THE OTHER TWO VANILLA BODY LOTIONS I GOT LAST TIME I DO NOT LIKE AT ALL.  I WILL BE GIVING THEM TO MY DAU AND GRANDS IF THEY WANT THEM.  I KEEP ON TRYING, THO, FOR A NICE VANILLA SCENT I CAN ENJOY.  I USED TO GET A VANILLA COLOGNE YEARS AGO THAT I ENJOYED.  I DO NOT LIKE THE STRONGER SCENTS AND FEBREEZE SPRAYS AND CLEANERS GIVES ME A HEADACHE.
I AM DOWN TO MY LAST LAVENDER-SCENTED SWIFFER FLOOR WASH.  I ALSO WANTED TO TRY THEIR NEW EASY SCRUBBING MOP REFILLS THAT ARE KNOBBY AND ARE SUPPOSED TO DO A GOOD JOB OF SCRUBBING WITHOUT MUCH EFFORT.  WE SHALL SEE.  I'M SURE TO LET YOU KNOW IF I CAN FIND WHAT I LIKE.
TODAY IS KENTUCKY DERBY DAY.  I AM UNDECIDED.  THERE ARE 20 HORSES RUNNING AND I LIKE 3 OF THEM; THE PUMA, RENEGADE AND DANON BOURBON, THE LAST BECAUSE HE'S A BIG BLACK.  AFTER THE GREYS, I LOVE A BLACK HORSE THO MY FAVORITES ARE THE PALOMINO BUT THERE ARE NO PALOMINO RACE HORSES.  THERE ARE OTHER RACES THRU THE DAY ON NBC STARTING AT 2:30 BUT THE DERBY TAKES PLACE AT NEARLY 7 PM.  I HOPE THEY HAVE GOOD WEATHER SO THE LADIES CAN STRUT THEIR STUFF, DRESSES AND HATS GALORE.  ITS A FANCY DAY FOR THEM.
MY OTHER PLANS I WILL PLAY BY EAR.
THAT'S IT FOR NOW LADIES.  STAY SAFE.  HUGS, QB S
