Sorry! I've been MIA again!
Mom is still in a rehabilitation facility due to her broken ankle.
I fell Thursday night and have two tiny fractures on my left wrist/hand. 🙄 I feel so fortunate it wasn't worse, but what terrible timing! I fell quickly and suddenly, and i have a bruised knee, hip, and wounded pride 🤣 to go along with my fractured wrist. The only thing I can figure out is that the pants I was wearing are way too big and I must have become entangled in the wide leg of them. 🤷🏼♀️.
I was home alone, but i was able to get myself off the floor.
Hope everyone is well! 🙏🏻

DIANE thank you, and so sorry about your hand!! Ouch! and best wishes to your mum too (((hugs)))
SANDRA it's always the way isn't it? too much food, we all tend to do it, maybe asking everyone to bring what they could eat plus enough for one more, but then if everyone wants the same thing that doesn't work either, lots of leftovers and freezing for another meal I guess is the only way.
HOLLY I thought it was you, sorry, no idea where my brain is these days, I just wrecked up an online order too, I can pay with Shop Pay, it automatically adds my address etc, but I forgot I had the old credit card still on it, so just messaged to cancel - hopefully I will be able to redo order tomorrow!
INDY it's kind of strange but his sis and I share our name, both Patricia, and both called Tricia by family, I was always Warwick's Tricia for many years, we have different middle names. Thanks for the thoughts, I am glad it will be all over soon, not looking forward to being with most of his family, so I will be doing lots of smiling/ nodding and staying quiet!! Unless a couple of them really rile me up, then I don't know if I will be able to hold my tongue - wish me luck!
DEVONNE sorry you missed a birthday, I keep mine in my phone now, too many of the kids and friends to keep track of LOL when you add their phone number it can add the date for birthdays, and then it adds it next year, even adds a year if you have the age listed.
MARYLOU I meant to comment on the Preen, we used to have that years ago as an ironing aid, haven't seen that name for years, I use Crisp now, had forgotten till I saw you mention it as weed control. Funny it's the same name LOL
I had sewing again today, we have been discussing a couple new patterns, one is a Monica Poole Quilt As You Go monthly one, the other is by Jen Kingwell, it's really easy, and uses lots of scraps, so I ended up ordering the foundation paper from her - that's when I wrecked up the order, I don't need them yet, it will be a good one to take to quilt camp in August I did get a few more blocks done for Alice, I haven't sewn anything in a while, I have been de cluttering the house, it got really messy last few weeks, spent yesterday on it, and will do the clean tomorrow, the dining area was full of "stuff" not needed, just dumped and it's now all put away, also all the kitchen benches are clear. Looks so much neater, it was clean enough, just really untidy. I put away my jigsaw, (I was not enjoying it, so gave up, not like me, I will do it again someday, just not now, I need to get moving on things that DO need doing!

MALAPROPS.......
1. CERTAINLY THE PLEASURES OF YOUTH ARE GREAT, BUT THEY ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO THE PLEASURES OF ADULTERY.
2. HE SEES THINGS FROM AN UNUSUAL VINTAGE POINT.
ANOTHER SUNNY DAY HERE BUT IN THE 60S TODAY. LOVING IT.
DIANE......YOU POOR THING. FRACTURING YOUR WRIST IN 2 PLACES. ITS AMAZING TO ME THAT WE FALL AT ALL. I AM SURE YOU ARE SO VERY CAREFUL ALL THE TIME BUT IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE IT HAPPENS. ITS A SURPRISE. AND IT HURTS. I WISH YOU FAST HEALING.
I HOPE YOUR MOM GETS TO COME HOME SOON.
CAROL.......WOW, THAT PLANTING SURE IS A BIG JOB. I KNOW ITS LOVELY. I'VE SEEN IT ON DOCUMENTARIES. THE COLORS ARE SO VIVID AND THE AREAS THEY COVER HUGE. I AM GLAD YOU GOT TO SEE IT TWICE.
WITH A GOVT INSPECTION TOMORROW I JUST HAD TO DO A FEW THINGS. I WANTED TO RE-LINE MY BURNERS WITH FRESH ALUMINUM FOIL AND CLEAN THE OVEN A BIT. ITS IN GOOD SHAPE SO IT TOOK ONLY MINUTES. THE REST OF THE HOUSE IS FINE I THINK.
TODAY I WILL WATCH A GOURMET DETECTIVE MYSTERY MARATHON WITH DYLAN NEAL AND BROOKE BURNS. ITS A FAVORITE OF MINE SO WORTH ANOTHER RUN THRU. THAT WILL KEEP ME OUT OF TROUBLE.

Another rainy and chilly day! I have the fireplace going. Lunch today with F and C and her brother David. He’s only 75 but had a stroke 2 months ago and has been living with them. Applebees today.
Blog post up with my redone fireplace, work in progress and political content.

Diane, so sorry about your fall and your injury to your wrist. That happened to me many years ago. I was standing in a chair, trying to hang a curtain rod when I should’ve been on a ladder.. the doctor said he could reset it or he could do surgery. I chose to reset it without knowing how painful that was.. I do remember saying a few choice cuss words, lol. ![]()
Sandra, I used to do the foil on my burners back in the 70’s-80s. I miss those electric burners. Do they still make them? The glass top is so much easier to clean, but it doesn’t always look brand new.
I ordered containers from Amazon to put my meats in, but they are too small. I will keep them because I need them, but I’m headed to Walmart to look for something, maybe a casserole dish with an airtight lid might work?
Holly, I haven’t been to Applebee’s in years. The last time we went, it took forever to get a waitress so we got up and left. That was 8-9years ago. The following year, they closed the restaurant. I still have an Applebee’s about 15 minutes away in Carrollton..
It’s lunchtime and I have some chili I need to use, so I will make a hotdog without the bun.

IT'S TRUE......
1. I'LL RISE BUT I WON'T SHINE.
2. JUST BECAUSE I'M AWAKE DOESN'T MEAN I AM READY TO DO THINGS.
HOW WONDERFUL TO SEE SUNSHINE A FEW DAYS IS A ROW. LOVING IT. EXPECTING 60S TODAY.
HOLLY.....CHECKED OUT THE NEW FIREPLACE. LOOKIN' GOOD.
I BROUGHT AN EMPTY BOTTLE TO THE COMMON ROOM FOR OUR RETURNABLE CONTAINER AND SAW A LINE UP OF TOMATO STARTS ON THE WINDOW SILL. SOMEONE WILL BE A HAPPY GARDENER SOON. OH, I MISS GARDENING.
TODAY I AWAIT THE GOVT INSPECTION. I WANT IT OVERWITH EARLY SO I CAN GET TO SOME SEWING. I CAN'T DO ANYTHING TILL THEY COME AND CHECK.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.

We had tacos for dinner, even tho it’s only Monday. Really good, and plenty left for tomorrow.
I’m watching the Count of Monte Cristo on Masterpiece Theater on PBS. I knew it was about a man falsely imprisoned for years in France, but that was all I knew. I’m halfway thru the episodes, and it’s really good.
Of course I’m cross stitching (LOL, the iPad suggested “dressing” as the next word after cross!) while I watch.
It was nice today, almost 70 and sunny. Tomorrow we have to go pay the property taxes, drop off our ballots for the primary (fun fact, Jersey has one of the last primaries) and go to the library.

GOOD MORNING!
I AM BEHIND READING. HAVE READ THIS WEEK. READ THIS WEEK.
SYMPATHIES TO TRISH, WARWICK AND FAMILY. ALSO ANYONE ELSE I HAVE MISSED. DIANNE SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR WRIST AND BRUISES. I MA SO AFRAID OF FALLS. THEY DO HAPPEN SO FAST.
DON'T KNOW HOW WE MANAGED TO KEEP DARRELL ON HIS FEET LAST FRIDAY ON HIS TRIP TO THE EYE DOCTOR. IT WAS TOO MUCH WALKING FOR HIM. HE WOULD NOT USE HIS WALKER OR USE ONE OF THE WHEELCHAIRS THERE. HIS EYES ARE GOOD. WE WERE THERE ALMOST THREE HOURS. SAYING I WAS WORN OUT IS PUTTING IT MILDLY. DEALING WITH HIS STUBBORNNESS , HEARING LOSS AND DEMENTIA IS NOT EASY FOR ME. NOT SURE WHICH ONE IS THE WORSE. GLAD LAST WEEK IS OVER. All WEEK WAS BUSY AND STRESSFUL
PT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IS POSTPONED.
HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING WELL.
THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS...........

MIXED METAPHORS.......
1. I THINK THEY'RE USING AN AVALANCHE OF P.R. TO SET US UP FOR A WAVE OF TAX PROPOSALS.
2. MR. SPEAKER, I SMELL A RAT; I SEE HIM FORMING IN THE AIR AND DARKENING IN THE SKY, BUT I'LL NIP HIM IN THE BUD.
I THINK I MAY SIT AND READ IN THE GARDEN TODAY. I NEED THE FRESH AIR AND ITS LOVELY OUT.
HOLLY...... I SAW THE MOVIE OF THE COUNT MANY YEARS AGO. READ THE BOOK, TOO. ENJOY THE SERIES.
LINDA.....SO SORRY YOU ARE GOING THRU ALL THIS. I KNOW ITS VERY HARD ON YOU AND TIRING AND WORRYING. HE HAS TO LEARN TO USE THE WALKER AND DO WHAT YOU TELL HIM. YOU ARE SO GOOD TO KEEP AT HIM. IN BETWEEN HIS ISSUES, YOU NEED TO GET SOME REST FOR YOURSELF. AND SOME OUTINGS WITH YOUR SISTER. HUGS GIRL.
THE APARTMENT INSPECTION WENT WELL. I GOT A 'SAFE AND CLEAN' REPORT. THAT'S ALWAYS THE GOAL. AND TIM REPLACED THE BATTERIES IN MY CARBON DIOXIDE MONITOR AS HE DOES EACH YEAR.
I MANAGED TO SORT MY SCRAPS BASKET BEFORE THEY CAME. I HAD SO MANY REALLY SMALL BITS I'M SURE I'LL NEVER NEED SO TOSSED THOSE. AND THE DESKTOP BESIDE MY SEWING MACHINE WITH SMALL STARTS AND LAYERED BITS FOR TESTING STITCHES IS ALL SORTED AND RE-ARRANGED TOO. TOSSED MUCH OF THAT OUT AS WELL.
ORDERED 4 MORE BOOKS FROM THRIFTBOOKS. I NEED BY INJECTION OF LIGHT 'COZY' MYSTERIES. I STILL HAVE SOME BOOKS FROM MY DAUGHTER BUT I PREFER THE ONES BY AUTHORS I LIKE BEST. I READ HERS IN BETWEEN THE NEW ONES. SOME OF HERS ARE A BIT HEAVY THOUGH WE LIKE THE SAME TYPE. BUT SHE READS MORE THAN I DO AND BUYS SOME A LITTLE DIFFERENT SOMETIMES.
THAT'S IT LADIES. MAYBE I CAN DO SOME SEWING TODAY. I HAVE SOME LADIES PINNED AND READY FOR MACHINE QUILTING. I CAN'T SEW ON MY MACHINE FOR TOO LONG. IT HURTS MY RIGHT HAND AND ALSO MY BACK. I TAKE IT A HALF HOUR AT A TIME. ITS AMAZING WHAT ONE CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THAT TIME.
HAVE A GOOD DAY. HUGS FOR YOU ALL. QB S ![]()

I finally went to the ENT doctor yesterday. He did an x-ray and my sinuses were clear. He thinks I have allergies, which is something new to me! He said the prescriptions he called in should get rid of this. I think one will be a nasal spray.
Linda, has there been any discussion of a dementia care place for Darrell or he wouldn't go? This is so much for you to handle. Hugs! ![]()
Still working on the major fridge reorganization. It created more work than I realized, but this shouldn't be my most dreaded chore anymore. Will be finished today, then I need to clean off the counters. I can now see what I don't need to buy. I have two lazy susans (one tier) on the top shelve. One is for pickles/relish/sauerkraut and the other one is for steak sauce, etc. It's so nice to now have two produce drawers, which was always my biggest problem. Cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage takes up a lot of space. I also discovered what I am wasting the most is spaghetti and pizza sauce. I need to start freezing it in portion sizes.
I am headed out to look for Sadie Grace a late birthday present. For housewarming gifts, I got Hannah a large bamboo cutting board and a silverware organizer. Emily got an 8 quart pot and two LVP mops. Gary decided not to get the ceiling fan, as he would have to take the bed down to install it. They are still moving stuff from their RV. The kitchen is huge and beautiful. They have the most gorgeous view from the kitchen window. They had 8 deers in their yard the other day.

We just watched the ceremony as King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived. I love the band music. Familiar and melodious. Interesting that both women were wearing white. And the hats...
I've never worn hats. Make my head itch and with thick springy hair, they seemed to want to pop off. Good excuses, right?
I had my last permanent crown installed, yesterday. Hope I'm done with the dentist for a long while. Today, we both have eye exams. Our longtime doctor, closed his office for cancer treatment the end of last year. He hoped to be back and in a way, he will be. He's joined another practice so we'll be able to keep him as our doc, within that office. Filled out the extensive papers and dropped them off their yesterday per a suggestion from friend, Bobbie.
She said she and her hubby did that and it facilitated the whole process. The office girl looked at me like I was nuts when told her what I was there for. This is the same eye office that Andrew interned with when he was considering being and eye doctor.
So sorry, Linda. A strong-willed man is hard to deal with at best. Do take care of YOU as much as you can. Glad the outcome of the visit was good. ![]()
While I was in the dentist's, a terrific storm came through and the lights flickered a few times. When we went to the grocery for a few items, half their power was off. The ladies rest room was pitch black. At the meat counters, they were hauling the pkgs. of meat to the back room to facilitate keeping them cold. It was a mess.
Then, when we got home, our power was off, but the new generator, just installed last Wed., was purring along wonderfully.
Power didn't come back on until 11 pm.
So, I'm off to get ready.

Gas at our corner jumped from $3.81 to $4.19! And $4.29 at the Wawa! Yikes!
We went to pay the taxes and the employee is out sick so the office is closed. Dropped my ballot for the primary in the box. Went to the library and IHOP.
Sandra, what happens if an apartment fails inspection?
Still chilly here. Interesting article in the Washington Post about tick bites. To pass along Lyme’s, the tick has to feed for 12 hours or more.
Linda, so sorry about the issues with Darrell!

Holly, I paid $4.49 today. I think Illinois has one of the highest gas tax in the country.

OH NO I just lost it all !!!!
I was editing for spelling and somehow deleted!!
STRINGS so sorry for all your troubles, is help available to you?? someone who can help with small chores??
SANDRA good to have the inspection done, and I love your ladies, I am re-reading Paws & Claws mysteries Krista Davis, very light reading, and quick too.
HOLLY does only one person run the office? that's not good, what if they take leave for holidays? Petrol (gas to you LOL ) is around 1.80 base to 2.00 for premium and up to 3.00 for diesel YIKES that's per litre so 4 litres to a gallon, it hurts to fill up these days
INDY we can have the old Drs send all our records to the new - for a price, of course LOL but it works well, the old still keeps the records though too, it's all computerised these days anyway. We had a blackout too recently, scary when it gets dark and you have no light at all.
DEVONNE hope the meds work for you, I take them every day, as I have awful post-nasal drip otherwise, and then the coughing starts LOL so taking the meds really help me.
The funeral went well, and I didn't slap anyone LOL, I did come close but kept my temper under control, the "all about me" brother placed a ratty old TV week magazine on her coffin, we had specifically said nothing other than the flowers, her photo and a small cross, I think the whole place heard me breath in. We also had Singapore orchids for everyone to place on her coffin, so it was covered quickly.
Warwick broke down when Megan read her poem, and also when the photo memories played with Unforgettable (Nat King Cole and Natalie) playing, he finally had time to realise she was gone, David was the same, then many of the family spoke at the wake, Megan told how her relationship with Tricia had inspired her to make a difference to her students, she works with children with all kinds of disabilities.
I was able to stay calm during the day and stay away from some of the family, and I don't need to ever see them again, Warwick can of course, and he may, but he doesn't seem to want contact with some of them either. Funerals can bring out the best and worst of people.

IRISH BULL.....
1. LISTEN TO THAT! EIGHTY THOUSAND FOOTBALL FANS, AND NOT ONE OF THEM IS MAKING A SOUND!
2. ALL GENERALIZATIONS ARE BAD.
3. THE FOOD HERE IS TERRIBLE, AND THE PORTIONS ARE TOO SMALL.
ITS MIGHTY GRAY OUT THERE. EXPECTING RAIN FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW. I GUESS WE ARE LUCKIER THAN SOME PARTS OF THE COUNTRY THAT ARE REALLY NEEDING IT.
TIM FROM MAINTENANCE JUST PUT IN MY AIR COND. UNIT. HOORAY. NOW I WON'T SWELTER IN THE HEAT, THO ITS NOT A PROBLEM TODAY. TEMPS COOLER AND DAMP, TOO.
BINGO TONITE. I AM CROSSING MY FINGERS THAT I COME HOME A WINNER. AT LEAST OF 50 CENTS.
DIDN'T GET MUCH SLEEP LAST NIGHT. WHENEVER I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT OR HAVE SOMETHING SCHEDULED LIKE TIM COMING WITH MY UNIT, I DON'T SLEEP WELL AT ALL. I WORRY I MAY SLEEP THRU THE TIME I SHOULD WAKE UP. HAVING A HEARING PROBLEM I FIGURE I MAY NOT HEAR THE ALARM TO WAKE ME IN TIME. I AM LUCKY THO, BEING RETIRED. I CAN ALWAYS TAKE A NAP LATER.
TRISH......I'M GLAD YOU GOT THRU THE DAYS EVEN TEMPERED AND NO PUNCHES WERE THROWN. YOU DID GOOD. I AM SURE WARWICK IS GOING TO FEEL THE LOSS FOR QUITE SOME TIME. AT LEAST NOW YOU BOTH DO NOT HAVE TO SEE RELATIVES THAT ARN'T WORTH YOUR TIME.
MY HUSBAND'S BABY BROTHER DIED THIS WEEKEND. HE WAS SUFFERING AFTER TWO HIPS REPLACEMENTS. OTHER THINGS CROPPED IN AS WELL. HE WAS A YEAR OLDER THAN ME AT 85. HE HAD 8 WONDERFUL KIDS AND THEY ARE FRIENDS WITH MY TRIBE. A GOOD LOT. NOW THERE IS ONLY ONE OF HUBBY'S SISTERS LEFT OF THAT GENERATION. SHE'S 5 YEARS YOUNGER THAN I AM. WE ARE ALL THAT'S LEFT OF OUR GENERATION. ITS SCARY BEING AT THE TOP OF THE LIST. I'LL JUST KEEP MOVING FORWARD WHILE I CAN.
THAT'S IT LADIES. STAY SAFE AND WARM. THOSE THAT NEED RAIN, I'LL SEND SOME POSITIVE THOUGHTS YOUR WAY.
HUGS, QB S ![]()

Sandra, my mom had 5 half brothers and sisters, all younger than she. She outlived them all!
Trish, yes only one person in the tax office. There is a drop box for checks outside the office. I’d think they are only really busy at the end of each quarter, when taxes are due.
We picked up my new glasses, then went to Sam’s Club. Now both of us are ready to sit!
Dinner will be tacos, since we had something else yesterday.

Trish, my prescription is RYMED. He gave me three refills. He also gave me Flonase nasal spray which has never worked for me. Maybe this one is more powerful since it’s a prescription. I’ve been dealing with this for months, hoping it would go away like it did the last time. Lack of sleep is why I went to the doctor. I didn’t take any of the over-the-counter allergy medicine because it all says for watery eyes and runny nose, and I don’t have either one of those symptoms. I’m glad this is over for you and Warwick. it’s going to be nice to only see the relatives you really want to see, if any, lol.
I know you all may think I’m crazy talking about re-organizing my fridge, but it looks fantastic. When I buy groceries now, everything has its designated place. I noticed I never had a place for leftovers so today I took care of that. I never realized I needed so many storage containers.
Sandra, all of Billy’s family are gone except one nephew and one niece. She is battling cancer now for the second time. All of my family are gone, except me and Shelby, in the nursing home, and she turned 80 in December. I know how you feel!
I have an eye appointment in the morning for my annual check up. They opened an office 2 miles from my house last year. How lucky am I!
