Can't believe it's already Sunday night here, the week has flown, but we were so very busy some days I forgot what day it was LOL
The Mr came home with a leg of lamb last night after bowls, so we had a roast dinner tonight, lots left over as well, so there's another meal LOL
I miss Marilyn too, I also have tried to contact Diana/San many times, all the emails have bounced, and I also had a card returned.
SANDRA like DEVONNE I wish I could have a bundie too, they sound so good, and I know I would over eat, so maybe it's good you ARE so far away !
I would love to get sewing again, it's already my monthly sewing group next Friday, it's come up fast, I wanted to to finish quite a few blocks before then, and not one has been done.
Also need to book my 'flu vax, they Dr's office sent me a reminder, but I might wait till after the funeral. Just in case I get any reaction.
I tried to find something today to wear, I checked a few stores, but nothing jumped out and said take me home, (edited: well, a few things did but they were ridiculously expensive for what would be one wear! ) so I will find something in my wardrobe, I did get another bra, and I am really happy with them. Small joys LOL And it was so good to toss the old one out, I really need to toss a few more, I will do later.

IT'S TRUE.......
1. A BALANCED DIET IS A COOKIE IN EACH HAND.
2. I WILL NEVER BE OVER THE HILL, I'M TOO DARN TIRED TO CLIMB IT.
ANOTHER GLOOMY DAY HERE. APRIL IS LIVING UP TO ITS NAME. APRIL SHOWERS.
DEVONNE......HOW GREAT FOR YOUR SON. NOW THEY CAN LIVE WITHOUT RUBBING UP AGAINST EACH OTHER. SOUNDS LIKE A DECENT PLAN FOR HIM AND HIS WIFE.
TRISH.......ITS ALWAYS GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU. I HOPE YOU CAN GET BACK INTO QUILTING PROJECTS. THEY CAN BE FUN.
YESTERDAY I MADE THE HASHBROWN CASSEROLE THAT I POSTED HERE WITH HASH BROWNS. MY SON HAD SECONDS. IT WAS A HIT. AND SO EASY WITH DUMPING ALL THE INGREDIENTS INTO ONE LARGE BOWL AND STIRRING TOGETHER, THEN SPREADING IN A 9 BY 13 CASSEROLE DISH.
ITS MY DAY OF REST LADIES. I WILL DO THAT.
HAVE A NICE DAY. HUGS, QB S, ![]()
PS. I UPDATED MY BLOG WITH RECIPE AND MY LADIES.

Hello, friends! Although my April calendar has something on almost every day, most are short things (like 45 minute exercise class 3 times a week). But the best item was yesterday’s “lunch bunch” gathering. I fixed Italian beef sandwiches, the other 4 people brought sides and dessert so we had a very nice meal. That was followed by 6 hours of catching up with what is going on in everyone’s life. One friend is having serious problem at work, another is have difficulty with a daughter-in-law, and a third friend is feeling very overwhelmed trying to care for her elderly parents. We all sympathized with each other and tried to make suggestions on easing their situations but mostly just tried to be encouraging. After they had all shared their problems, I decided my life is exceptionally good.

Hello, everyone! Just a quick note. Mom fell in the wee hours of the morning Wednesday and broke her ankle!
She is recovering in a rehabilitation center where they are working with - physical therapy and occupational therapy. She will be 94 in August.
More later. Busy, busy time

WONKY ADS.....
1. DOG FOR SALE. EATS ANYTHING AND IS FOND OF CHILDREN.
2. VACATION SPECIAL! HAVE YOUR HOME EXTERMINATED.
ITS BACK TO COLD WEATHER AGAIN. 40S DAYS AND 30S NITES. AT LEAST TODAY IS SUNNY.
BACK TO CHORES TODAY BUT NOT BAD. I ALREADY CLEANED THE KITCHEN CLOSET. JUST HAD TO CHECK THE EXPIRE DATES ON THE BOXED AND BAGGED GOODS ON THE DOOR SHELVES.
DID MY LAPS. NO COOKING TODAY SO IT'LL BE LEFTOVERS TO FINISH UP.
I WILL MAKE A CHANGE ON MY BLOG'S LATEST RECIPE AND NOTE THAT I PREFER MAKING THIS SAUSAGE CASSEROLE WITH TATER TOTS. THEY HAVE MORE FLAVOR AND MORE BODY. AND MINUS THE ONION. I'LL USE ONION POWDER. I DON'T CARE FOR THE CHUNKS. THIS IS A PERSONAL PREFERENCE. I ALSO DOUBLE CHECKED WITH MY SON AND HE THOUGHT TATER TOTS A LITTLE BETTER, TOO.
DID NOT FEEL LIKE VACUUMING SO GOT OUT THE CARPET SWEEPER AND DID ITS JOB. MY BISSELL DOES WELL.
I NEED TO TAKE OUT MY TRASH SO WILL TAKE OUT FOR 2 NEIGHBORS AS WELL. ONLY OTHER THINGS LEFT TO DO ARE TO CLEAN/POLISH THE SMALL APPLIANCES AND SOAK MY STOVE'S FILTER. LIKE I SAID, NOT VERY MUCH. I CAN SPEND SOME TIME ON MY PUZZLE TODAY AND MAYBE GET SOME SEWING DONE.
MARYLOU.......SOUNDS LIKE LOTS OF FOLKS HAVE PROBS. AT LEAST YOURS ARE ALL MINIMAL WHEN YOU HAVE THEM.
DIANE.....SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR MOM'S BROKEN ANKLE. STILL, SHE IS DOING GREAT FOR NEARLY 94. I HOPE SHE GETS HOME SAFELY AND SOON.
STAY SAFE. QB S ![]()

It’s colder here too, but back in the 80s on Wednesday.
Not much going on here. I hope you had a good time at the retreat, Janet.
I texted Marilynn yesterday, but got no reply. Someone with her number is getting my texts because they are going through. I will try to call her one more time. I wish her voicemail wasn’t full so I could leave a message, but it was full last July. She said she didn’t know how to erase it.
Holly, I’ve never been to the clubhouse and I’ve never used the pool since I moved here. I like an HOA because people can’t paint their house any color they want to and their yards have to be maintained.. The ideal situation is to not live in a subdivision at all, lol. This is the first subdivision I have lived in. It’s a lot quieter than I thought it would be. I’m close to two Publix grocery stores, lots of restaurants, hospital is 2 miles away, as well as my family doctor. I have a Chick-fil-A, a Dunkin’ Donuts and a Wendy’s 2 miles from my house. There’s also a really nice Mexican restaurant in the same shopping center.Walmart is 4 miles away and my eye doctor is 2 miles away. I was so happy to see their office open here. They are right next to Publix. The interstate is 3 miles away. If I had to move from here, I would look into a tiny home. This house is way too big for one person.
I need to start a hobby today. I’ll get the kitchen cleaned up and look for a bird design to paint. I have a movie I want to watch first!

Devonne, Facebook is always showing me house plans for small houses. It’s interesting, they might have 3 bedrooms, but only have a great room type living space. I’m used to having a living room and a family room. Maybe it’s because my house is over 2000 square feet that it has both.
It’s in the 50’s and sunny, so the windows are still closed. We went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch yesterday, so we have leftovers for dinner, yay!
Offline
HOLLY we had leftovers too, remember BJ saying it was SREVOTLEF, that will be a fond memory for me!
DEVONNE hope the new committee goes well and things get sorted for you, it's not usual here for a homeowners group, only if it's an apartment block, there are some gated communities, but none near me, mostly golf courses with housing/apartments as part of the grounds.
MARYLOU good to see you hope you can visit more, I know you do many other things daily so you are busy (((hugs)))
SANDRA you can edit the post for your recipe, or I can do that for you if you want, sounds like you have made a few changes for the better LOL Just don't make it too good and eat it all up !!
I need to see if I have any onion powder, I don't use it, I usually use leeks or red onion, I wish we had the big Vidalia onions you can get, haven't seen any for a while. I'm sure they are around somewhere.
DIANE sorry to hear about your mum's fall, wishing her well (((hugs)))
Nothing much happening here, still getting lots done with plans for his sis. Of course it's not all easy, but they are getting there, some things take so, so long, we have to go to a major mall a bit away tomorrow, they need to cancel her health insurance, of course that isn't easy, amazing how easy it is to INCREASE coverage, but cancel, oh no!!! So we will spend a few hours there no doubt.
At least the eulogy is finished and the funeral booklets and music done.
Maybe I will go with him tomorrow and see if I can find something to wear! That might fill some time, although we need to be back for Dean, he finishes tomorrow early.
I think I forgot to tell you Megan & Gary got him a car, looks pretty good, just a little Ford - John's not happy as it's got more bells and whistles than his, but his is worth a lot more, they didn't pay much for this one, but it will be a good little starter for him, he just needs to get his practice hours up now, he needs to have done 50 hours (I think) at night, total of 200 hours practice recorded in a log book, think he's done about 1/2. they can't even do the test till they have the hours logged, lots of people cheat and fill extra time for their kids, but I know they won't do that, it's so important and they ask for that for a reason, it's safety for the driver and passengers.

IT'S TRUE.......
1. THE MOMENT WHEN YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT THE ELDERLY, YOU REALIZE YOU ARE THE ELDERLY.
2. HAVING RECEIVED MY FREE SAMPLE OF WINTER, I WOULD LIKE TO CANCEL THE REMAINDER OF MY SUBSCRIPTION, THANK YOU.
ITS SUNNY AND BRITE TODAY BUT STILL ONLY IN THE LOW 40S. STILL, MY WINDOW IS OPEN A BIT FOR THE FRSH AIR AND THE HEAT IS TILL TURNED OFF.
REMEMBER LADIES, ITS AN ANNIVERSARY FOR TRISH AND WARWICK TODAY. WISHING YOU A GOOD DAY TOGETHER.
MY DAU AND A GRDAU CAME TO VISIT YESTERDAY. THEY WERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND GRDAU SAID THEY SHOULD STOP IN. IT WAS SO VERY NICE TO SEE THEM BOTH. GRDAU HAD SOME HASH BROWN CASSEROLE AND LIKED IT. I BET SHE WOULD LOVE IT WITH TATER TOTS.
TRISH......ITS YOUR SPECIAL DAY TODAY. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. ENJOY IT.
AND I FIXED MY RECIPES HERE AND IN MY BLOG ADDING A BIT OF THIS OR THAT. OF COURSE IN ANY RECIPE, A PERSON CAN TWEAK IT TO WORK BETTER FOR THEM. NOT EVERYONE HAS THE SAME TASTES.
DEVONNE.....WHAT IS GOING TO BE YOUR HOBBY? THE ARTWORKS? YOU HAVE DONE SO WELL WITH YOUR PAINTING. I ADMIRE YOUR WORK. SO PRETTY.
JANET......WHAT DID YOU GET DONE AT YOUR QUILT OUTING? PLEASE POST PICTURES. YOU DO SOME LOVELY WORK.
LINDA.......I HOPE YOU AND YOUR GUY KEEP GETTING GOOD REPORTS FROM YOUR CHECKUPS.
CAROL......WE NEED SOME PIX OF YOUR TRIP. IT MUST HAVE BEEN WONDERFUL.
I WORKED ON A LADY YESTERDAY, GETTING HER MACHINE-QUILTED. I WILL SAVE THE BINDING AND LABEL FOR CRAFT MORNING. ITS A GOOD TIME FOR ANY HANDWORK.
NOTHING SPECIAL PLANNED FOR TODAY EXCEPT BAKING SOME PORK CHOPS WITH VEGGIES. I MAY EVEN ADD SOME STUFFING TO THE DISH.
I WILL GET MY LAPS DONE NEXT AND MAYBE WORK ON THE JIGSAW PUZZLE A BIT TODAY. CHORES ARE NOT GOING TO BE HARD. ITS SO NICE TO KEEP THEM ON SCHEDULE SO WHEN I GET TO THEM THERE IS LITTLE TO DO. ALL THE RESORTING AND ORGANIZING HAS BEEN DONE.
WISHING YOU SUNSHINE AND A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Good morning.
Back after being gone since last Thurs., I think? Small group went well enough. I say that because my entree, BBQ ham sandwiches were just okay. The deli had sliced the ham so thin it turned out like mush. Tasted okay, but texture-wise
... Funnily, I didn't care for the salad, the cake or the deviled eggs they brought or even the potato chips one man brought--an off brand that were not very good. Maybe it was just me??
ML had come Thurs. and again Fri. morning and we got this place pretty perfect. Now, I'm OCD about keeping it this way by constantly put away everything H. or I touch. ![]()
Welcome home, Carol. I thought about you while you were gone. Can't wait to hear...
I don't know what's happened with Marilynn. I feel bad because I haven't kept in touch like I should have. I was the one who always kept up with her and I've dropped the ball. With no family to speak of, she was always coming and going to Missouri where her heart really is.
Neither of us can get near poison ivy. And there's plenty here in our woods. For some reason, Howard CANNOT identify it which I find unbelievable since it's so easy to tell and he gets it so bad.
Cheryl, glad to hear Dean's treatments start soon (not soon enough for him). Will he get them locally or do you have to go to Cleveland? I know you hate that trip...
Tris and Warwick, Happy Anniversary. Blessings to you two. Will probably be a quiet celebration this year with the funeral coming up. Hugs for you...
Diane, so sorry your Mom has had this happen. Glad she's getting good care and good treatment. You've all had a lot of medical issues...
QB, what a nice surprise, your DD and DGD stopping in. And, you had something to feed them!
That's always a good thing. ![]()
Well, I must close this for now. Soon, we'll head for town and W-M and the other grocery store. We have Rxs to pick up and we're out of meat. It's lovely here today. Sunny and quite warm but not too warm. Wishing a good day for all my dear friends, here.

One of my facebook memories made me think of what Mary Lou said about other people’s problems. In it I had posted that I was feeling sorry for myself because two of my girls lived so far away, when we were notified that Charley, the man I call my third brother, had a liver transplant due to a rare genetic disorder. Put it into perspective!
It’s all the way up to 52 and sunny! My brother John sent me a screenshot, there was a Florida panther in his field!
Janet, your retreat sounds really cool! I’m with you about paying extra for a private room.
Trish and W, Happy Anniversary! The years go by so fast!
The other year that I made 12 afghans? I’m down to 3 here. I let Jules pick one to give to her BFF who lives in the college dorm. In the last few months I’ve given one to my youngest nephew Jake when he bought a house, and two to great nephew Connor when he bought a house and got engaged.
I put the Easter decorations away. The electricians are coming tomorrow to do the wiring to make the fireplace electric, so I won’t put up the spring decorations on the mantle til they are done.
Sandra, I love surprise visits!

Trish, I'm so very sorry about Warwick's sister. I know you expected it to happen, but it still isn't easy. So many family members and issues to consider. Prayers for all of you. I hope you get to enjoy your anniversary despite the sadness.
Dianne, hoping your mom is on the road to recovery. She must be one spunky lady!
Theresa, I hope you are recovering well. How frustrating when you finally have some time to do Theresa things.
Holly, you might have to start crocheting again. I love the way you are getting your house in good order so that you can use it the way you want to.
Sandra, you just keep busy. I hope you can share some pictures of your ladies.
Devonne, hoping you found a good project. I have a few if you want some.
Janet, waiting for a report on your retreat.
Linda, hoping you and Darrell are doing okay with all of your issues. It's hard to slow down.
For my Amsterdam report, just know that I like traveling alone better, I think. There were some things I would like to have done, but the others weren't up to it or weren't interested. I also know that I will never let someone else book the accommodations until I am very sure of what we are getting. Let's just say that an apartment is nice until you get there and find out that it's up two very steep, narrow, twisty stairways and that the bedroom/bathroom is up yet another flight. No elevator. One of the other ladies is 83 and a bit overweight. It was a true struggle for her.
Okay enough about that. The daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips were beyond expectations! I'll post pictures when I can figure that out.

Trish, happy anniversary to you and Warwick. I know it is not a good time to celebrate so maybe you can go out for a favorite meal later.
Carol, I think it’s wonderful you enjoy traveling alone. I don’t go anywhere except locally. I don’t like traveling by myself. I worry too much about my vehicle breaking down, being in a bad area, getting robbed, etc.. I’m paranoid, lol 😀 what really surprises me is the women who live year round in their van or RV. They travel all over the United States alone.
Sandra, my next hobby project will probably be another bird. A much smaller project! I look forward to seeing all of the ladies finished. What a nice surprise for nyour daughter and granddaughter to pop in!
Judy, I have been meaning to comment on your newspaper. I’m surprised there are any newspaper deliveries these days. The Atlanta Journal quit printing them in January of this year. They are totally digital now. I remember when we would go to Walmart and buy the paper every Sunday for $2.00. We mostly got it for the coupons. it was huge! Billy wouldn’t take the top one because people would take the coupons out of them.
Today I wanted to get out of the house so I went shopping. I didn’t need anything, but I did find some blouses. I guess you can’t have enough of them or can you have too many, lol? My last stop was Aldi. They had the biggest lemons I have ever seen. I got five in a bag for $2.85.
Gary and I are going to Lowe’s tomorrow to look at ceiling fans. I am buying them a ceiling fan for their housewarming gift. We went to Home Depot today, but they didn’t have a good selection.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES.....
1. ON A MOVIE MARQUE: NOW PLAYING:
ADAM AND EVE
AND A CAST OF THOUSANDS!
2. THIS IS A PERSONAL FAVORITE: EARS PIERCED
WHILE YOU WAIT
ITS COOLER THAN PREDICTED, IN THE 40S INSTEAD OF THE 50S. AND GLOOMY.
BINGO TONITE SO WISH ME LUCK. I'VE LOST A BIT THE LAST 2 WEEKS. NEED SOME POSITIVE THOUGHTS LADIES.
I WAS TOO TIRED BY SUPPERTIME TO ROAST MY VEGS AND PORK CHOPS SO I BAKED THE CHOPS IN MY TOASTER OVEN AND MADE A BATCH OF RICE-ARONI IN A SAUCEPAN. MUCH QUICKER AND EASIER. AND I LIKED IT WHICH IS THE BEST THING.
NOTHING MUCH HAPPENING HERE TODAY. JUST THE USUAL CHORES AND IF I CAN, I WILL DO MORE SEWING TO GET SOME LADIES READY FOR HAND STITCHING WORK AT CRAFT MORNING THIS THURSDAY.
AND THEN FRIDAY IS OUR POTLUCK SUPPER.
STAY SAFE LADIES. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Kind of gloomy here today also. We were up at 7 because the electrician was coming between 8-9. He got here right at 8 and was here til 10, running electric to the fireplace. I went into the sewing room and worked on receiving blankets while he was here. Later, I took a nap.
Dinner will be a mishmosh of things.

Devonne, I remember what a big deal coupons were in the newspaper. I used them moderately. I had a friend who almost made a career out of them. She had an elaborate system that was beyond me. Now they are few and far between. Even the fast food ones. How nice of you to gift them with a ceiling fan. They seem to be the first thing the designers and clients want to rip out on HGTV shows! We have them in every room...them, a dishwasher, and an attached garage being our most important 'wants' when we built.
We had a new whole house generator installed this morning. $$$$$$$$
Ours finally quit after 16 yrs. A pure luxury in my opinion, but Howard insisted, and of course, when the power is out, I am grateful, if still a bit nervous. (still a pure luxury!) ![]()
I was looking for a birthday card and found a lovely card BJ had sent me when I had my knee surgery in 2019. Tracy made it and it was an actual photo of a lovely sunflower from her garden. A precious keepsake. Also found a funny card Marilynn sent in 2017 around the time she, Ashley and I met in Kentucky when we were on our way to VA to visit Howard's sister. Things change, life moves on, Blessedly, we have memories to cherish. ![]()
Fixing something called shoulder pork chops (not pork steak) for supper. Maybe they'll had a bit more flavor and won't be so tough as the loin ones. We'll see...Got them at W-M yesterday. I'm a bit leery of W-M's meat, most especially their ground beef. But I was too played out to add the butcher shop to my agenda. Still catching up on rest after the small group gathering.
So, with that, I'll close. Have a good evening and sweet dreams.

Happy Earth Day!!!!![]()
Trish, I am still doing Estate stuff. Finally got through to humans, and Taxes will be finished this week, I have no clue on the mineral rights thing, still up in the air. Mentioned the idea, that I may have to find an attorney as 5 months, of not getting this done is unacceptable, got stuttering at the other end and an "I will go back and see where they are in processing things". That does usually light some kind of fire under people! Sad, I have to resort to that. ![]()
Carol we travel together pretty well! I am always up for adventure, even climbing up and down a canyon! ![]()
DS yeah I think I agree with the others that it was Celsius! ![]()
Janet, let me know if you want company for a retreat! I'm a good days drive from you! ![]()
It has been interesting the last few days. I had my physical on Friday, I will live! She put me on a low dose, 5 day packet of Prednisone for the shoulder. It did more than anything I have done so far. This morning was the last dose! I still feel good, but being cautious! ![]()
I lost another Uncle on Friday. This one lived in Florida, near Tampa. Didn't find out till yesterday afternoon that the memorial service would be today at 1. I couldn't make it. Told my cousin, she was visiting when all of this transpired, I would come down once everyone leaves. My aunt, will need support and help to get through stuff in general. My brother wants to go with me, I think it's a bad idea. ![]()
I ordered some fabric to finish my FQ challenge. It was the same fabric I was using, but a different color background, was supposed to be the same color, it was off just enough, probably the dye set different on it. Even after washing it did lighten but not much. Selvage was identical. A real head scratcher! It will still work. The other print I ordered came out bigger than I thought it would. It will not work. That's fine, I will save it for something else. This is why I don't like ordering fabric, online. I am a visual, touchy feely person. Like I said it will all workout. Just shifted gears a bit and we are good!![]()
I am still working on the hexie quilt. I pulled it out again last night. I have the 30's print Tallahassee block quilt draped over the hand quilt frame, I need to either get to it, or move it out of the way. ![]()
I have also straightened my quilt room a bit. Slow process. As I come across something, I try to find it's real home, not just the place "I will remember I put it there" home. In doing this, I found a quilt/wall hanging I started years ago, I pulled it out with it's fabric, to go in the line of to be completed. I think I wanted my DSis to trace something on a piece of fabric for me to cut out and applique on it. That will not happen now. I have an idea though of what to do.![]()
You are now caught up on my little corner of the world. ![]()
Later my Friends! ![]()

Happy belated anniversary Trish. I hope you and hubby had a wonderful day.
It was 80 degrees and beautiful here today. But, it is supposed to rain and be cooler tomorrow. Dean and I sat outside and enjoyed the sun for a while. Then he went and ordered a new TV online and went to pick it up. They brought it to his car, so he did not have to go into the store. He has been wanting a new one for a while, but would not spend the money. I told him since he was going to be spending so much time in the bedroom. he may as well have a TV. We have never had a TV in the bedroom. He will be sleeping in one of the spare bedrooms and we got it all cleaned and set up today. His new TV in on the dresser and it is a 65 inch one. Larger than the one in the living room. lol!
Devonne, I watch several of those van life people and I am always amazed at the older women! I am like you in that I would be terrified of traveling alone. Those gals just go and do their thing!
Theresa, you are one busy lady! You have lots of sewing projects in the works and I have not done any for such a long time. I hope to get back to when after Dean has his bone marrow transplant as I will be his care giver after he comes home from the hospital (after a month in the Cleveland Clinic) and he will be sort of isolated for the following 100 days. So, no visitors and not going out, so I will start a new sewing project.
That is it for today. Take care friends.
