Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

WELFARE BLOOPERS......
1.  I CANNOT GET SICK PAY.  I HAVE SIX CHILDREN.  CAN YOU TELL ME WHY?
2.  I AM WRITING THE WELFARE DEPT TO SAY THAT MY BABY BOY WAS BORN TWO YEARS OLD.  WHEN DO I GET MY MONEY?

THEY PREDICT 4 TO 7 INCHES OF THE WHITE STUFF TODAY.  AND MORE MONDAY.  WE SHALL SEE IF THEY ARE RIGHT.  GETTING GRAY OUT THERE NOW.

I, TOO, SAW THE DOG ON THE SLOPES BUT IN A NEWS ITEM.  HE CERTAINLY LOOKED WOLFISH.  IN THE STATES ITS ILLEGAL TO BREED HALF-WOLF PUPS SINCE THEY ARE EASILY CONVERTED TO THE WILD STATE AND THEY CANNOT BE HOUSETRAINED.  I GUESS THAT'S NOT SO IN ITALY.

CHERYL.....SO SORRY THAT DEAN IS STILL FEELING POORLY.  ESPECIALLY IF ITS THE MEDS.  HOW TERRIBLE FOR HIM.  OF COURSE IT WILL TURN HIM OFF FROM SEEING THAT DOCTOR IN THE FUTURE.  A BAD EXPERIENCE, YOU KNOW.

JUDY......WEDNESDAY I FOUND A 4-LB BAG OF SUGAR EXPIRED BY 4 YEARS.  IT WAS IN MY LOWER KITCHEN CORNER CABINET BEHIND A ROLL  OF SHELF PAPER.  I NEVER KNEW IT WAS THERE.  SEE, WHEN YOU DO A GOOD REORGAINIZING YOU FIND TREASURES AND THE NOT SO TREASURED.

IN CLEANING BENEATH MY SINK YESTERDAY AND RE-SORTING STUFF I HAD 2 CANS OVEN CLEANER, 3 OF FURNITURE POLISH, 2 BOTTLES OF FLOOR CLEANER, 2 CANS AJAX AND A COUPLE BOXES OF MR CLEAN MAGIC SPONGES.   LUCKY FOR ME SINCE I HAD A CAN OF COMET ON MY GROCERY LIST FOR SATURDAY.  SAVED ME A FEW BUCKS.  IN THE END I PUT UP A MOTION SENSOR LIGHT UNDER THE SINK SO I CAN SEE WHAT I HAVE MUCH EASIER NOW.

OUR ITALIAN SANDWICH SOCIAL IS THIS EVENING.  I THOUGHT IT WAS AT NOON BUT WAS WRONG AND THAT'S SO MUCH BETTER.  I DO NOT HAVE A BIG APPETITE UNTIL AROUND 5 EVERY DAY SO THIS WAY I CAN REALLY ENJOY WOLFING DOWN A STUFFED ITALIAN SANDWICH, AND MAYBE EVEN SOME DESSERT.

I WOKE LATE THIS MORNING, 10:30.  WOW, IT SURPRISED ME.  I GUESS THE HOUSECLEANING IS MAKING ME A BIT TIRED.  SO FAR TODAY I DIDN'T YET GET MY LAPS IN BUT GOT MY CAROUSEL HORSE TRIMMED SO I CAN ADD THE BINDING ON TODAY AND MAYBE EVEN THE LABEL.  IT WILL BE GOOD TO SEE THAT DONE.

STAY SAFE AND WARM LADIES.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

OOPS, SORRY LADIES.  I FORGOT TO REPORT THAT OUR NAN CAME HOME FROM REHAB YESTERDAY.  SHE'S LOOKING VERY GOOD.  I GAVE HER A COUPLE TOASTED TUNA SANDWICHES WITH CHIPS AND PICKLES, AND ALSO MADE THE CHICKEN RICE SOUP FOR SUPPER.  GAVE HER 4 CONTAINERS OF THAT AND A SLEEVE OF SALTINE CRACKERS SO SHE SHOULD BE IN GOOD SHAPE FOR A FEW LUNCHES.  SHE IS COMING TO OUR ITIALIAN SOCIAL TONITE.  YES, SHE LOOKS VERY GOOD.  AND SHE NO LONGER HAS HER CHIN RESTING ON HER CHEST LIKE SHE DID BEFORE SHE BROKE HER NECK.  ALL FIXED.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Sandra, good to hear that your friend is looking better! We’re probably getting some snow Sunday, they don’t know how much yet. It’s 50 and misty outside now, a lot of the snow is gone.

I moved fabric around for my sewing room hour. I didn’t realize how much flannel I had! I’m thinking rag quilts- has anyone done one?

Cheryl, I vote that Dean listen to you and d/c the med.

We went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch, brought home enough for dinner.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Afternoon y'all!

Cheryl! I agree with Holly!

I saw the dog too!  He is also featured on we rate dogs!  Too funny.  He was awarded a gold medal!

Another beautiful day here.  76* the last time I checked.  Simba is loving it!

Not much happening here.  Boring as usual.  Did my walk, home and chilling.  I want to go pull weeds but my shoulder really hurts.  May need to sit for a bit with the heating pad.

Waiting on the next USA hockey game.

I did call my Texas person again.  Getting close to getting on the broom and flying there! I left a voicemail on Wednesday, left a message today.  Trying to be a nice squeaky wheel.

You are now caught up with my little corner of the world.

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

SANDRA I am so pleased both for your win, and that Nan is back and doing well, so very kind of you to help her out, I know she would appreciate it, you all have formed a little family unit, well done!

I didn't see the dog on the track!, I did see the people leaving the event (one of the ski ones ) too funny - some slip down on their behinds, most clinging to a rope and sidestepping down I am thinking their feet were probably half frozen as well, one of our commentaries has been showing he has battery operated warm socks. I guess you need them, something I am not used to al all, I am JUST surviving the heat LOL It's been another hot one today and training was very hot and humid, but I did it, just slowly LOL

WOW!!! I did it, managed to do it form post images !

I dismantled it today, it was enjoyable - after I got some done, it took a while to really get into it!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Sorry, the light was shining on the puzzle, but I did get the pic LOL

It was fun to work out the different Shakespeare bits, but those roofs on the houses - yikes!! They took a while.

THERESA so close now, and the last bit will take so long, but nearly there, I am using stash too! I did my last couple scrap ones totally from start, did it make a difference to the stash, nope!!

DEVONNE hope you are feeling OK, your mouth will be sore for a while, soft food - did they advise hot to cold packs, I would assume warm would be better than cold, but no idea what the recommendation is.

I need to shut this down there is an update available and I know it's going to start soon.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

It has been raining cats and dogs here...all night long. Gracie finally went out in the rain at 8:45 am. Yesterday was a beautiful 75 degrees. I was able to sit outside and enjoy the sun.

I dropped off my HOA payment at the clubhouse. They have a mailbox there for such things. Now I've learned I can get a money order for $1 at Walmart, this is how I will pay from now on. I'm not going to order any more checks.

Trish, no hot/cold packs suggested. I'm doing fine. What a perfect rainy day for more movies. Laundry later today and will load the dishwasher. I have plenty of "easy" food. I'm watching a lot of movies on Prime Video and Netflix.

Emily has been diagnosed with auto immune hepatitis. She got her appt. day wrong and missed her appt. with the specialist. I know nothing about this disease except it affects your liver.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Sandra, how wonderful that you take care of your friends in your housing complex.  I would image that many do not have families that would help out.  Glad that Nan is doing well.  When you are finished reorganizing your place, can you come to mine and do it?    I was looking on amazon at some pull out type storage for under sinks that I am thinking of getting; the bottom pulls out like a drawer and there is a top shelf too.   Not too expensive, so I may go ahead and order.

Devonne, wishing you a speedy recovery.  You will feel much better now that that bad tooth is gone.  I still use checks to pay our house taxes since they charge 2.5% surcharge if using a credit card and 4% if using a bank direct pay.  So, we do it the old fashioned way and send a check twice a year.

Trish, that jigsaw looks very difficult to do to me.  I love the scene, though.  I am not sure I would be able to finish one like that.

Theresa, good luck on completing your mom's estate.  We all know that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so keep at it!   Dean and I have been trying to figure out the best way to settle our "estate" for our sons.  We are not sure if going to a trust would be better or just going ahead and putting their names on things.  We don't have a lot, but are comfortable.

It is 48 degrees and yucky grey out.  Supposed to get snow on Sunday.  Oh well, it is February isn't it?

I am able to walk around the house in my sneakers now and without the boot.  I still use the boot to go outside, but am happy with the progress.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

About settling estates … I recently talked to my lawyer about putting my house in a trust. He suggested considering a transfer on death deed instead. When he explained how both of those work, I agreed that might be best and am going to see him again about setting it up. I don’t understand/remember the difference well enough to explain but you might want to investigate it.

I have been trying to use up fabric stash instead of buying more although I often need to buy for borders and backing. I recently finished a throw quilt top that Lynn likes so I’m going to quilt it for her. When thinking about backing for it, I remembered that I have a sheet that she used as a child that has the same colors as the quilt top!  Do any of you remember getting sheets from Sears?  They were so soft and lasted forever with no fading.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

I can't imagine a doctor telling a pt. to continue on a med causing that many side effects.  They usually freak over things like that, because you never know.

Our small group went well yesterday as did my stop on the way there at the grocery for cole slaw in the better plastic bowl.  Laughing because how silly is that?  I can get worked up over the smallest things...
Of course, there's a glitch in our next time together.  We all chose a date, because we had to change next time from our standard Friday afternoon in the regular  every two-week pattern. It's going to be here on Thurs., March 5th which is Howard's 76th birthday.  So, here I go again...  New plan:  do the cleaning the first week and make ourselves pick up and keep things clean the second.

Howard is upstairs catching up on all the Olympic hockey games he hasn't seen, yet.   Thankfully!
I can't stand hockey, myself.    LIke football, and he does have his own TV up there.  No criticisim of others, though, (Theresa )...all of us being different.

When I  get done here, I am going up to my sewing room.  Need to find fabric to finish the small spring wall hanging I've been slow, hand stitching on.  I'm at a standstill as of now.

Kids are enjoying Florida.  Sending pics and comments.  They'll be flying home on Monday.  I knew when then finally got gone, it would go fast.

Having frozen Screaming Sicilian pizza for supper.  We like them quite well...for frozen.
Have a good day.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Devonne, my friend Barbara’s daughter has auto immune hepatitis. It’s chronic, and she’ll be on meds for the rest of her life. They had to play around with her meds to get a med and dosage that didn’t make her sick.

Cheryl, check into how much your estate can be before estate taxes have to be paid. A trust can be problematic- my sister in law’s mom had a trust. When they sell the house, my sister in law will have to pay capital gains because she already owns a house. Her brother lived with the mom, so his won’t be capital gains. Consulting an attorney who specializes in that area is a good idea, since it probably varies by state.

Fabric. Wow. I’m making groups of flannel, Christmas, huge pieces, Asian, tropical, floral, novelty, and colors, and holiday. So I’ve got a lot of piles on shelves. It will be worth it when I finish.

Now they’re saying possibly a foot of heavy wet snow tomorrow, starting in the afternoon. Ralph got smart and is having our lawn mowing company plow for us.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

STOP THE PRESSES!
MOBY DICK, THE GREAT AMERICAN CLASSIC BY HERMAN MELVILLE, WILL BE SEEN AGAIN NEXT WEEK WITH VETERAN ACTOR VICTOR JORY IN THE TITLE ROLE.

WE GOT 5-6 INCHES OF SNOW THRU THE NIGHT AND NO POWER OUTAGE.  HOORAY.  I AM ONE THAT DOES NOT HAVE TO SHOVEL OUT MY CAR AND JOCKEY IT AROUND FOR THE SNOWPLOW GUYS.  RIGHT NOW ITS SUNNY AND IN THE 30S.
MY SON IS SHOPPING TOMORROW SINCE HE HAS TO SHOVEL TODAY.  HIS NEW HOME DOES NOT HAVE A GARAGE AND ITS SHOVEL, SHOVEL, SHOVEL.  HE REALLY WISHES HE'D STAYED AT THE APT BUT HE WANTED TO MAKE HIS WIFE HAPPY.  HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE.

I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD GET HERE TODAY.  I DECIDED TO SORT ALL MY FABRICS.  SOME ON SHELVES, MORE IN CONTAINERS BY SUBJECT.  WELL, THAT IS SOME CHORE LADIES.  I AM TRULY EXHAUSTED AND STILL HAVES SOME LEFT TO SORT.  I HAVE A PILE OVER 4 FEET HIGH FOR THE FREE TABLE IN OUR COMMON ROOM BUT FIRST MY DAU WANTS TO CHECK THEM OUT FOR DOGGY SCARVES SINCE SHE'S COMING ON TUESDAY TO TAKE ME FOR MY REGULAR DR CHECKUP.  NO OTHER CHORES WILL GET DONE TODAY BUT I CAN MAKE THE HAMBURGER SOUP LATER.  I HAVE PLENTY OF TIME SINCE I HAD A LATE BRUNCH.

OUR ITALIAN SANDWICH SOCIAL WAS GREAT.  WE ALL ATE AND ATE AND ENJOYED THE COMPANY.  I BROUGHT THE SLICED HAM, SALAMI, AND BELL PEPPERS.  SINCE IT WAS A SPECIAL DAY I ATE A WHOLE 12" ITALIAN SUB.  MMMM GOOD. I EVEN BROUGHT HOME A SMALL WHOOPIE PIE WHICH I HAVE YET TO EAT.
NAN CAME AND SHE DID WELL.  I HELPED HER GET HER FOOD PREPPED SINCE SHE HADTROUBLE USING HER WALKER AND TRYING TO GET HER FOOD, TOO.  SHE'S LOOKIN' GOOD.

TRISH.....GOSH, I WOULD NEVER EVEN ATTEMPT A 1000-PC PUZZLE.  I WILL STICK WITH MY 300S.  THEY ARE EASIER AND FASTER TO FINISH.

CHERYL.....I HAVE CARDBOARD CARTONS UNDER MY SINK THAT I CAN PULL RIGHT OUT.  WORKS FINE.  ALSO HAVE ONE UNDER THE OTHER CABINET FOR MY SKILLETS, RESTING ON THEIR SIDES.  MAKES MORE ROOM FOR MORE SKILLETS.  I AM SURE THOSE STORE-BOUGHT ONES THAT SLIDE OUT AND HAVE A SHELF ALSO ARE BETTER BUT I HAD CARDBOARD BOXES HANDY SO USED THEM.  I AM GLAD YOU ARE GETTING SOME.  LET ME KNOW HOW YOU LIKE THAM.
ALSO THE SENSOR LIGHTING UNDER MY CABINETS HELPS ME SEE WHAT I HAVE WHERE.  ITS A GOOD THING.

THAT'S IT FOR NOW.  I AM ONE TIRED BABE.  MY BACK IS ACHING A BIT AND I NEVER GOT MY LAPS DONE BUT I WILL SKIP THAT TODAY AS WELL AS THE FEW CHORES I USUALLY DO SATURDAY.   I CAN DO THEM TOMORROW BEFORE MY SON ARRIVES.

STAY SAFE AND WARM MY DEAR FRIENDS.  HUGS, QB S
