Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

Happy Birthday Linda!

Tracy posted that BJ was in the hospital for 2 days with CHF (congestive heart failure) and came home last night and has to see cardiologist.

I put a pic of the snake up on my blog. I have to think of a name, not Sammy since my niece is Samantha.

I spent some time in the sewing room doing prep for Steph’s Christmas tree skirt, getting the strip sets separated. Then the knees started complaining, so here I am.

Dinner will be turkey roll ups. Lay out slices of deli turkey, put a dollop of stuffing on each one, and roll up. Cover with some turkey gravy and bake. Easy peasy.

High today 35! Nice and sunny out.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

Happy Birthday to you, Linda.  Hope you're having a nice day and I second QB's  wish that you not have to cook!

Bill and ML came over yesterday for Bill to help Howard with the plow repair and she to spend time with me.  Sometimes I'm astounded at the amout of words we can say with each other every day, either on the phone or sometimes in person.    (Plow is still acting up!)

QB, how wonderful you got such a good dr. report.  And the weight loss is a big feather in your cap.  Plus time spent with Colleen!  BTW, that's a beautiful name.  IMO.

That's all for today.  I just must get going on my de-cluttering instead of just talking about it.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

Happy birthday, Linda!

I hope BJ is going to be ok. Sending prayers her way.

Sandra, so glad you got a good report.

Holly, how wonderful to have an Amish market!

Theresa, you are sounding more upbeat. So glad this is almost behind you!

My creamed spinach was delicious. Can't believe I never tried it until age 76. It's so easy to make and I'm sure I never made it because no one else would eat spinach, lol.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

Afternoon y'all!

Strings! Happy Birthday!

Strings, I serve it warm the first round.  We put leftovers, when we have them, in a Tupperware.  We zap what we want....   We also eat it cold as a leftover! Great with ice cream!

DS I am doing better.  Getting to spend time home, and doing my crafts, reading, living without worrying about mom...

Holly thanks for the BJ update.

Not much happening today.  Got my walk in. Have the stuff out to make cabbage rolls for supper!  My kind of laidback day!

I did go through bins yesterday and no butterfly fabric.  With what I have it will be close.  I want to make 6 more blocks.  I did go through my oriental fabrics, mostly fat quarters, and nothing I have matches.  I do have a few triangles left over from the cutting back in 2008.  That's when I printed the pattern, so I am guessing that is when I started the first quilt!  I actually kept the pattern in the box with the fabric!  I must have been thinking clearly for a moment!

I had to press all the fabric, very wrinkled, measured it all and put sticky notes so I would know the measurements.  Thinking clearly again!  YIKES!  While I had the iron out I also did the backing for another quilt.  I just need to pull the batting and start sandwiching!  It's small enough to be on the dining room table.  Perfect lap quilt size!  I got the backing from a little quilt shop outside Perry Georgia.  Sara had to take a test for grad school many moons ago, while she was in the test I went fabric shopping!

While I had bins out I even put fabric away in the bins!  Another moment of clarity!  I wonder if this will be a habit? Scary I know!

I can see the cutting mat again on one of my cutting tables!  That's really scary!  If I keep this up I might find the whole thing!

More tax stuff in the mail for mom today.  It's just trickling in.  Wish it would flood in so I can be done with it!

Got the leak in the roof repaired.  It was what I thought, one of the boots went bad.  He also noted some of the others needed to be resealed.  We said do it!  They also told us we have a good 3-5 years before we have to replace the roof!  Good news for us!  We can set aside funds a bit at time to save up for it!

We are redoing the master bathroom first.  I am way past ready to rip up that nasty carpet.  Who puts carpet in a bathroom?!?  At least they tiled around the shower, tub, and throne!  The tub is jetted, was not cared for by the previous owner, so it stinks when you use the jets.  At the time we had 2 little ones with Luke on the way so no funds to replace the lines.  I just don't use it.  A waste of space since it takes up almost 1/3 of the bathroom! It goes!  I can't decide if I am even putting a tub back in the room.  Might do a second linen closet!  I need to get a few quotes and talk to the contractors to figure my best option.

That's all from my little corner of the world!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

Theresa, Heather’s house had a huge jetted tub. They took it out and replaced it with a big shower, and turned the little shower into a linen closet.

Turkey roll ups were really good, served with julienne potatoes from a box, and the rest of the stuffing. And plenty left for his lunch tomorrow. Score!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

Theresa, can you post pictures of the fabrics?  I have lots of butterfly and Oriental stuff, so you might get lucky.  Or send me a text.

Happy Birthday, Linda!  I hope it's very special.

Prayers for BJ and Tracy.

Happy Birthday Linda.
Went to a 5 day retreat on Wednesday and came home noon today.  Worst one ever. DH couldn’t believe it when I told him I was on my way home.  I’ll fill you in tomorrow if you’re interested.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDA, hope it's been a lovely day and you had some quiet time just for you!! and with no cooking - I hadn't realised that you share a birthday with my brother, with the days difference it just didn't occur to me before now! (Even knowing the dates were the same LOL )

SANDRA such good news for you at the Drs, good work on the weight loss, and YES take his weigh in  LOL It all counts. I am still losing, just a little, but at least it's going south LOL I still want to lose another few pound, but it's taking it's time to get off

DEVONNE are you used to the floors  yet, when I had the majority of the house done it felt strange for a while, plus we had Buddy and his nails used to click on the floors. He got used to the traction jumping onto the sofa though.

BJ how are you doing, I hope you are feeling OK, you were missed when you didn't post ((((hugs))))

THERESA thanks for the heads up on Only Murders in the House, we are currently watching it - together - a first. Plus we watched The Thursday Murder Club last week, things are looking up with sharing the TV watching.

SANDRA forgot to say, thanks for the info on the Dr series, we can't get it , maybe later, but not now

INDY I hope the repairs go well, frustrating, I hope the pile up of snow isn't too bad meanwhile!

JANET sorry the retreat wasn't good, maybe skip them for a while, you can have your own retreat at home!

We had lunch with my brother, sis and our partners today, he looks OK, says he has good and bad days, sis thinks he has years left, but he doesn't, he's officially untreatable, and only  having immunotherapy to keep him going.  I got a lovely cake for him, and his eyes lit up at the sight, totally bad for him, but he wants to eat bad stuff and who am I to disagree, his Drs have told him to eat what he wants, regardless as it's not going to make any difference, enjoy it all. It wasn't a big cake, but they took the leftovers. I think he might have it for dinner tonight, it was decorated with lollipops and lots of blue and silver sparkling things.

Our weather has been shocking today, lots of local flooding, we were lucky to make it to the golf club without too much rain - but sis and hubby took a long time to get home, they went through 3 really bad storms, I was tracking storms for her and she was messaging from the car, said there were so many accidents, and so much water on the road, cars slipping and sliding, they had a very slow drive home.

I had some leftovers from lunch, we had training till 9.45am and I ate after that so wasn't very hungry. It was funny at training, we use the school basketball court - it's got a cover, but the water kept tracking through it and changing direction we got our mats down and bags, and had to keep moving them, we all had a good laugh about it. My sweater I wore got caught in the water, but I was wet getting to the courts anyway, so it was always going to be in the wash.

It's going to be bad weather again tomorrow for rain, I was hoping to get all the sheets done but it will have to wait. I really like them in the sun to dry if possible, they went into the dryer last time.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

Trish- I felt so disconnected….almost left out. This is not my usual group, I don’t go to the meetings, only the retreat. I have gone for the last 6? years.
Linda- you’re right, I have a great studio at home but sometimes you think you want to join others.

JANET......SORRY ABOUT THE ROTTEN RETREAT.  I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT SEEING OTHER FOLKS THAT QUILT.  I HAVE A NICE SEWING CORNER AND LOVE IT BUT ITS NICE TO GO TO CRAFT MORNINGS WITH THE GIRLS TO TALK ABOUT OUR PROJECTS OR HAVE SEW-AND-TELL.  SORRY YOUR TIME WASN'T FUN.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

I have chili on the stove and Howard is pushing me to eat.  I told him we'd eat at 5 and that's what it'll be.  Actually, that's only 10 more minutes,  but  he won't starve.

So glad you're home, BJ, and feeling okay.  Things can come up by surprise, can't they?

Trish, the plow still isn't repaired, something with the electrical system.  A part is on it's way.
Another reason I'm glad I'm not a man...mysterious reasons things don't work.  A needle and thread always does!

Janet, you're brave.  Most would have stuck it out in misery.  So, at least you can do what you want with the time you would have spent waiting for it to be done, which is probably what I would have ended up doing.  Couldn't name all the times I went somewhere and wished  the event was over and I was home.    JOMO--the joy of missing out!  My new favorite...

Well, it's 5.  Time to say goodbye here and dish up the chili, as promised.
Have a good evening and sweet dreams.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY JAN 11 ~ SAT JAN 17

Good morning from a very soggy city LOL It's been pouring still, eased a bit now, so much flooding everywhere, and I  am staying put today, I do need to go to the store a bit later, but it can wait, the Mr will be BORED He wanted to watch the indoor bowls at the club, but lots of water on the roads I want him to stay home.

JANET I sort of understand both sides, if they are not used to you they just don't connect, maybe if you go to the guild sometimes?, we have a kind of rule for retreats, there is groups who know each other, we all chat as a group, but no one feels left out that way, Julie has our Friday class, a stitch group she goes to, and another class group, so we all get to know each other eventually, but there are groups who sit together, we make sure tables have enough space for them to do that.

INDY too bad about the plow, I hope he can get it to work

BJ How are you feeling, you sound Ok just tired (((hugs))))

SANDRA my sis talked to him yesterday about the dangers of sugar and cancer, he didn't want to know, he said the Drs have told him he's not going to live so enjoy what time he has and eat what he wants, she just can't see him as I do, the cake with lollipops etc is really not good for him, but he will enjoy it LOL and I have accepted his fate.

If you have some selvedges on the butterfly fabric THERESA I can have a look too, if it's Japanese we have a small amount in the LQS

HOLLY good idea to get things and freeze for Heather, I am so close by Megan I drop them in on the way home, really easy.

I just updated the computer to have been here for ages, it took a good 25mins
I'll check back later today
