Raptor of turkeys
Gaggle of geese
And others which I can’t recall right now.
Not all black birds are crows…there are ravens and cow birds that resemble them but only crows are a murder.
The term really has nothing to do with Crows murdering anyone or anything and more to do with the fact that they consume dead and rotting carcasses, and that they seem to be found near graves and cemeteries. How do I know such things? (Although I need a refresher course) As a punishment assignment back in the day
(Who me?) I had to write a report. 🙄

Yes, Holly, you're right.
Trying to type on this stupid old computer.
It sounds as though many of us had busy holidays, and now it's time to put it all to bed and get started on 2026. I just found the under cloths for my holiday tables as I was packing stuff up. Grrrrr, they were hiding under quilts. Has anyone made any crafty or quilty resolutions? My list is way too long to enumerate, but it does involve UFO's. Sigh.................
Crazy weather. Several weeks my laundry basket has included long underwear and shorts and t-shirts from the same seven-day period. My roses are blooming like crazy. I've even seen azaleas blooming.
Back later if I can wrestle this ancient piece of technology into submission.

Good Morning to everyone! I'm not feeling too bright this morning, can't seem to do things right!! The wind is blowing so hard outside and it's just a yucky day!! I really don't have anything to say this morning, so will just sign off, wishing you all a wonderful day, Love, BJ.

The word I was trying to think of is murmuration when a huge flock of birds, swoops and undulates in unison as they are flying. If you look it up, it's stated more eloquently, than this.
I've never seen it in person. Wonder how they come up with some of those words, like a murder of crows?
I haven't had time to read, only quickly glance through. ML will soon be here, Howard has gone to eat with Dave, so I need to carry on...as usual, sorting through papers on the tables!!!!
Later...

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
Carol my yellow bells are trying to bloom. Several have and several buds, just in time to freeze next week. I also noticed a hyacinth blooming! ![]()
QB you are most welcome. Glad I could help! ![]()
Strings so glad the appointment went well and is now behind you both! ![]()
I will get the crock pot cake recipe posted. I also have a cobbler recipe that is incredibly easy! ![]()
![]()
I am trying to get my mind right to make my calls today. I was exhausted yesterday, we did get the emails done and the one to mail needs an envelope. Forgot to do that yesterday! I have to take it to the PO since I want a return receipt. ![]()
It doesn't help that I am watching the quilted Cow sample sale show on my phone. I could switch it to the computer! ![]()
I have finished sewing the binding back down on Sara's teddy bear quilt. I need to sew the bears down, the fusible is coming off the quilt, thus the bears are lifting off. I will iron it back down then sew. I have a question about sewing the bears. Figured I would do a blanket stitch. Do I use DMC or equivalent floss? How many strands? I have enough floss to sink a battleship. I would need lots of different colors to match the colors of the bears. TIA! ![]()
Nothing else from my little corner of the world! ![]()

We've had a few very foggy mornings. I thought it looked rather pretty. Really overcast right now, but no rain due until Saturday.
My flooring has shipped and will be here Thursday. I ordered two new toilets and they came today. Since I have knee issues, I needed to get the chair height ones. They have to remove the old ones anyway, so good time to do this.
I'm getting one more estimate and will pick the installer Thursday. I dread this and will be glad when it's over. It will take 2 or 3 days and be so very disruptive for me and Gracie. We will stay in the far back bedroom most of the time.
Carol and Sandra, I hope your computers last for a very long time!
Theresa, if it's light fabric, I would use 1-2 strands. Three strands if it's heavy fabric. I personally like one strand to give a finer look.
I am sooo cold! I'm headed to fix a second cup of coffee, something I seldom do, but I need it today. Will have tea later.

We went to breakfast at First Watch, then to Aldi. Came home, and housecleaner Lisa came and did her thing. After she left, we both took naps.
Happy Three King’s Day/Epiphany! We always got the day off in Camden.
I’m still crocheting on my scrap afghan, two strands, one white and one scraps of purple, with an H hook.

Interesting conversation about birds, there are so many terms for groups of birds - JANET you must have been naughty LOL - my favourite is parliament of owls, and one used here is mischief of magpies, they are cheeky (and sometimes nasty) little devils, very territorial and will swoop you if you are near their home, one in particularly around here is brutal, he has done some awful damage, drawing blood one many occasions, people take umbrellas and he's torn through them LOL
They can be very friendly though, my sis has one comes into her kitchen regularly if she leaves the sliding door open!
SANDRA if you will use the crockpot great idea to use it on the cooktop, I know I have a few recipes I want my slow cooker for, so will never get rid of it, but mostly it stays in the cupboard, I do my meat spaghetti sauce and also mussaman beef, and I cook corned beef in it, all of those I can cook in a big pot but so much easier to do a big batch in the cooker.
DEVONNE I don't envy you, it is disruptive to get floors laid, I would love to move out, but I guess you can't these days. Has Hannah come by yet?
INDY that is a beautiful word, I do wish we still use some of the more beautiful words, but the young ones seem to want to shorten everything and use the quick option. I have seen birds like that, it was amazing, there are pigeon racers nearby and they let their birds out and they swoop and fly in a large group, they sometimes go quite far, but they return home safely, no idea how long it takes to teach them that.
THERESA nearly at the end, it's been such a tiring stressful time for you last few years, you need a good break when it's all done (((hugs)))
STRINGS so happy for you that the dentist went well, he'll be glad it's all over and you can both relax (((hugs)))
HOLLY I will have to look up a H hook, not sure what that is, I need to do a final round on my granny squares, but I have lots of unfinished sewing to do too! Might leave the knitting/crochet till it's cooler.
I had training yesterday, it was intense, but most are for me these days, I can keep going though, keeps me a little fitter.
When I got back and got organised the boys came over to help me with the new TV, it took a while, I had to sign into things on the iPad and we selected English, next thing we know everything is in french, I do know a little, we tried to go back, but no luck, so finished the installation in french, it kept showing some of the instructions with a header in english, so we preserved.
Finally the TV is on and it's in french
but we were able to go into setting and change it LOL
After they went home I gradually got all the apps online and it was all done when he came home, then I had to teach him how to use the remote, it's really tiny and very sensitive to touch.
We just got back from the bank, he was going to spend hours trying to renew a term deposit online for their sis, he needed to take some money out and put into her account as well and I knew there was not an easy option to do that online, so I talked him into going to the bank, much easier, waited for help about 10 mins, ten 5 mins to fix it all
and now he's in front of the new TV watching cricket, boring for me, so I will start on some WIPs
The weather for the next 4 days at least is HOT even by our standards, 100s each day and well over 100 on Saturday, NOT going to be fun at training, and it's the normal later start, so will be 80sb by the time we start.
Megan has been closet cleaning, took 6 large garbage bags to give away, all very good clothing, she has lost a lot of weight, and now needs some new clothes, we might go shopping together, she wants a plan first, she did find 2 pair of pants she can wear at work that had been hiding in the back.

1. I AM IN THE MISTS OF CHOOSING COLLEGES.
2. WOMEN TEND TO GET JUMPY DURING THEIR MINSTREL PERIODS.
WE GOT SNOW BUT NOT MUCH. IT STARTED OUT SLICK WITH FREEZING ROADS AND NOW ITS WARMING UP. MAY HIT 40 TODAY.
ITS BINGO DAY TODAY. I HOPE TO WIN A BIT. IF NOT, IT WILL STILL BE FUN WITH THE GALS.
MY PEPPER STEAK SUBS WAS DELISH. I HAVE ENOUGH LEFTOVERS FOR 2 MORE WELL-STUFFED 6" SUBS. FOR BRUNCH I THOUGHT POACHED EGGS ON TOAST AND THEN FOR SUPPER ANOTHER PEPPER STEAK SUB.
I FOUND A GOOD RECIPE FOR CHICKEN VEGGIE NOODLE CASSEROLE THAT I WILL TRY ON THURSDAY. I WILL BE NEEDING SOME DIFFERENT MEALS BY THEN. I COULD NOT FIND A C-POT RECIPE I REALLY WANTED TO MAKE EXCEPT FOR A RICE ONE THAT SOUNDS GOOD, BUT I JUST FINISHED UP MY CHICKEN RICE SOUP THE OTHER DAY. I DIDN'T WANT MORE RICE.
I STARTED THE NEW JIGSAW PUZZLE AND MY NEW BOOK. I AM ENJOYING BOTH. IT GETS ME OUT OF THE HOUSE. LOL. JUST DOWN THE HALL BUT ITS STILL OUT OF MY APT.
I HOPE TO DO SOME SATIN-STITCHING OF MY CAROUSEL WH TODAY SO I CAN DO SOME HANDSTITCHING OF LACE AND FLOWERS FOR IT AT CRAFT MORNING TOMORROW. I WANTED A DIFFERENT PROJECT OTHER THAN CROCHETING DISHCLOTHS OR HANDQUILTING MY VICTORIAN LADY. NOT MUCH MORE TO GO ON THAT ONE BUT I WANTED SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO TRY.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

I had the cardiac ablation done yesterday. All went well and I came home yesterday afternoon. Although I’m still not completely back to normal I feel fine. I have some activity limits for a couple of weeks. Lynn is here and taking great care of me. Mostly she is cooking and we are enjoying time together.
Sandra, one of the things Lynn is cooking is chicken fajita soup. Here is the recipe we like. I thought you might like it. It makes a big batch so you would have plenty to share. It also freezes well.
Offline
Mary Lou, thanks for letting us know that all went well with your procedure. My family loves the tortilla and the fajita soups too. I love the crock pot for that. Many people make them in the instant pot, but I think the long slow cook is better.
Judy, that was the term I was trying to remember for that large group of birds. Dean and I saw the swooping and swirling one time years ago when we lived in Wyoming. It was amazing to see.
Well, Dean threw a load of clothes into the washer yesterday and the motor burned out. It was able to let the water out, so that was good, but it did not wash/agitate. So this morning we went to the Maytag store and bought a new washer and dryer. My dryer is gas, so of course, they cost more, but I like the gas dryer. I think it does save as our gas is way cheaper than our electric bill. I did not want all the fancy computerized buttons, so I just got a basic old fashioned washer. Our old ones were at least 25 years old and I think the washer was older than that. We had replaced the dryer once. Dean wanted to pick them up and save the delivery fee, but our washer and dryer are upstairs. I did not want him trying to get the old ones down and the new ones up. He used to do all of that , but now we are too old. Just pay for the delivery and set up. The sales lady also said they have a meter to check the gas vent, so that is good. I talked old cheap skate into the $79.00
He can be so funny that way.
Devonne, it has been dreary and rainy and foggy here too. I hate it. I would rather have snow then this cold drizzle.
I never got to organizing my game shelf yesterday, so that is getting done today. My walk is done, so I have no excuse not to start that project.
Have a good day all.

Mary Lou, I’m glad to hear that all went well with the ablation.
Cheryl, we also have a gas dryer, and have always been happy with them.
I had some sad news. One of our nurses lunch group died this morning. Lynn had been in a nursing home for a long while, she had cardiac issues. She was 76. She worked her whole life, retired, and her health went bad, she only enjoyed a few years of retirement.
It’s 53 and sunny here. I have no idea what I want to make for dinner.

Marylou, glad Lynn could be there to pamper you and you're doing ok.
It is gorgeous here today...one of those days to roll down your window and sing along with the radio. I guess that would be CarPlay now, lol. ![]()

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
Cheryl, I have a gas dryer too! Love it! I think it dries faster! ![]()
Marylou, glad the procedure is over and you have someone to pamper you! Enjoy it! ![]()
Trish it will be a bit before it's all behind me, but this was a big step forward! ![]()
DS the background is white. Not sure why I did that for a baby/toddler quilt?!? The bears are dark to medium. I started last night and it looks good. I think I put a heavy fusible on, hard to get the needle through, or the needle is dull!?! ![]()
I have been for my walk, to Firehouse subs for lunch, to the PO for the first step to close the South Carolina accounts, then to the local bank to officially notify them of her death! That's done!!! ![]()
Since I have been home, I put the sub leftovers away, I brought a cooler with me knowing I would have leftovers. I have emptied the dining room table of Christmas dishes and put several in storage containers. Some of the containers have seen better days. ![]()
I have been getting return calls and emails today, getting those answered. It's funny each mineral rights company wants different information, some of it the same. Very frustrating trying to keep it all together! I'm working first on the information they all need which is to do something in Acadia Parrish probate court. I only have to do it once. Which is good, but need multiple copies of the form I get back. Asking the Acadia Court what they need from me is like pulling teeth. They tell me it's whatever the companies want. The companies tell me it's whatever the probate court needs! I feel like I am going around in circles. Another company wants the will, I have told her the Georgia Probate court has it! Then she tells me she needs it. Lady then you contact them for it! I will send her a copy and hope it's what she needs. Makes you scratch your head and wonder what is going on. ![]()
Another thing I need is an affidavit of death plus a death certificate! Are they not the same thing?!? ![]()
This is crazy! ![]()
I have had some good laughs over the redundant stupidity of all of this! ![]()
OK off to clean some more. Might go play with fabric! Decisions, decisions! I think fabric wins. ![]()
That's all from my little corner of the world.![]()

Theresa, when we have settled estates, the county surrogate gives you a short certificate and tells you no one should need a copy of the will, by law. Then you go to the banks, and banking laws require them to have both the short certificate and a copy of the will. Surrogate says don’t give it to them, bank says no copy, no money. It makes you crazy!
