SANDRA I'm sure the soup went down well, and smart giving yourself a few meal options, with one cook, I didn't think any of the Roy Rogers etc shows would be televised again, I guess they look very unprofessional these days, with all the technology changes, but I still watch Miracle on 34th Street, the original one in black and white but still good.
JANET I hope you have a good time when you go to graduation, maybe going so far with your DD and her DH is not an option, but possibly somewhere closer to spend time with them?
HOLLY things change medically all the time, I guess sometimes it's better to find out earlier than later, the treatment can help if started earlier, or even diet can change some things. I know we waited quite a while for me to have cholesterol meds, I tried everything seems like it's genetic, the Mr has perfect cholesterol and the worst diet ever, he's gotten bigger and bigger in the tummy, and he's has perfect sugar readings too ![]()
I have been busy today, got the tree down, and the decorations packed away, also cleaned rest of the house, and did the washing, lucky I did, just now the storm hit, blowing a gale and I had brought the clothes in already.
I was happy to get the bedroom vac'd and all dusting done all over the house, I did the bathrooms and main floors yesterday.
Now it's time to sit and sew a little, got out my English Paper piecing, it's so awful, I really want them finished, the piece are so tiny, When I get them all done I'll get a pic. I'm not happy with my stitches, but they will have to do, from a distance you won't notice - I'm even tackling one Julie is still trying to find another way to do. I am a little stubborn
, she didn't want to do it, she's waiting to see how mine turns out, she's really neat and precise, and if she sees mine is "passable" she'll do it, there is so much bulk on the points and she didn't want to use the paper piece pattern she's trying to find a way to foundation piece it. Not easy either.. We aren't using Tana Lawn which is quite a lot thinner so less bulk, but still not happy with this book (and instructions) for the amount it cost us.
Sounds like the storm has stopped still pretty hot and going to be brutal for most of the week, not looking forward to it. Dean isn't happy, he wanted local Chinese for his birthday, but they are closed on Monday nights, so he's trying to think up where else he'd like decisions, decisions!!

ITS MY DAY OF REST BUT I NEEDED TO DO A FEW THINGS. I BAGGED MY MEAT FOR THE FREEZER, TOOK OUT MY TRASH, RE-ORGANIZED SOME PLASTIC CONTAINERS, AND TOOK OUT CHICKEN AND GROUND BEEF TO DEFROST. BEEF BURRITOS ARE ON MY MENU SOON AS IS THE PEPPER STEAK SANDWICH. BUT TODAY I STILL HAVE 2/3 PIECE OF PORK CHOP TO USE UP AND SOME CHICKEN RICE SOUP. IT WON'T GO TO WASTE.
MY SON SHOPPED AND MADE A MISTAKE. INSTEAD OF GETTING ME MORE PORK CHOPS, HE BOUGHT MORE CHICKEN BREASTS. YIKES, I HAVE SO MANY NOW I NEED TO START COOKING THEM. I WILL LOOK UP SOME CHICKEN CASSEROLES SO I CAN SHARE SOME OF IT SOON. I LIKE CHICKEN, BUT NEED TO USE UP SOME IN A HURRY TO MAKE ROOM FOR OTHER MEATS NEXT TIME HE SHOPS FOR ME.

Trish, I realize that things change medically. Just seems a huge conflict of interest for the pharmaceutical companies to do the studies that they will benefit from financially.
sunny and 34 today. By the end of the week it will be almost 60! Lunch with F and C today will be a local Italian place, Filomena’s.

Good Morning to everyone!! It is raining once again out here, wish it would stop!! But it will keep the grass green. So I guess I can't complain too much!! It's hard to believe it is now 2026!! But it is what it is!!! It is windy here this morning. Well, I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

It's 62 here in the South, the sun is beautiful and I'm not complaining. Going to be 70 this Friday. Unusually warm weather for this time of year.
I texted Hannah Thursday that her Christmas present had finally arrived. She said she would stop by to get it on the way home from work. Haven't heard a word from her, lol. It's a metal plaque with trees and deer on it and at the bottom it has both of their last names...it says _____ and _______ Families (last names only, since they're living together). It also has "2026" below their names. It's really pretty. I tried to make a picture, but it wouldn't turn out thru the plastic.
I have sirloin steak I need to fix today, so that will be for dinner with roasted cauliflower. It will be an egg sandwich for lunch.

Sounds like you're all getting back to normal after Christmas. I'm probably the only one who put something out that didn't make it before the holiday. I have a collection of Fenton glass trees, that I like to keep out until the end of Feb. as winter decor. And since it's our turn to have the small group on Friday, I still wanted them put out.
Did this while ML was here on Friday cleaning my kitchen up. Once again, she offered and I did other things while she was here. She's coming again on Tues. afternoon to help with whatever else she can. I can explain the dynamic of all this. She is determined to help me and she does so without any judgment or sidelong glances, so to speak. And I must say, the feeling of lightness afterwards that I have is priceless. I turned 85 last month and with my back and hip problems, find it quite hard to keep up and this is what she wants to do for me. So, I'm trying to be gracious (am always verbally thankful) and accept this loving gift since that's how she wants to do it.
I've explained this before but guess I just still have a bit of a problem admitting the deficits and the needs I have and accepting the help.
While working on the neighbor's "mule" (a little tractor-like vehicle), Howard got a 3-cornered tear in his good jacket so that is my task for this afternoon, fixing it to his standards, since it's his favorite one. I was going to make something with left-over baked pork for supper and while I was looking for just such a recipe, he ate part of it for his lunch.
So, I'm thawing some salmon...
Oh well, glad I had the salmon and I never said anything to him. Am glad that he heats up his own, now! ![]()
Trish, Happy Birthday to Dean. Guess you all need to celebrate it "on the day" or maybe he could get his Chinese the next day. Birthdays, being much more important to the young, probably can't be put off like they could for us. I think he'll be 18, right? Of age in Australia like it is here, now? In my day, it was 21.
Linda, I always made a mess with sifting flour, too, but I find most newer recipes say to just whisk it, now. Have you tried that? Much easier, INHO. (But, a mix is even easier...
)
Better go and start on that jacket tear. Have a good evening and sweet dreams.

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
I have all the Christmas down and mostly put away. I have the Christmas everyday plates still out. We will put them away dishwasher load by dishwasher load. We love the plates. ![]()
Speaking of dishwashers, I read before I posted, ours has never dried either. We even have the option to not dry using the dishwasher, so that option it is. We open, let it cool down and then put away. Almost everything is dry by then. ![]()
I did not know there was powdered buttermilk. I buy it by the quart. I only cook with it. I don't drink it! Hubby drinks one glass when I open a new quart. But if you have regular milk, you can make buttermilk using a tablespoon of vinegar per cup of milk. Mix together and wait just a moment and it will thicken. I have had to use that a time or two! ![]()
We had a nice New years day with Alex and Sara coming to eat. New Years Eve, the fireworks started at 6:30 in the evening. Poor Simba did not know how to handle it. Remember he is afraid of his own shadow! ![]()
We received paperwork from probate court for my mom's "estate"! Today we were pulling information for the "report" to the court, and I made a list of to-do's. They gave us a really nice booklet, with instructions. It was great. We have put the notice to debtors and creditors out and paid for the month of notice. I have the paperwork to proceed with changing the mineral rights to the heirs, Finally I get to start getting this off my plate! ![]()
Simba is doing well with the de-crate training. He doesn't care that we moved the crate to another room. I can walk around the kitchen table now! He loves sleeping in our room, he has his own bed, and blanket. Not spoiled, no never. On Friday we took him to one of the Chattahoochee rec areas to walk and he loved it. We did decide he needs a blanket for the car, once again, not spoiled! ![]()
You are now caught up on my little corner of the world! ![]()
Later my friends! ![]()

I received a basket of food stuff to make a pasta dinner, so we had that today. It was from World Market and we did not care much for the jarred sauce as it tasted like stewed tomatoes and not much else. I sauteed onions and green peppers and added, but did not help much. The crusty bread was just ok and did not have much garlic taste for a garlic bread!
World Market is pretty expensive, so I am not sure as to what to tell her when she asks if we liked it.
Theresa, Bosco has his blanket for the car too, but it is mostly to catch the mud from his giant paws! I actually made him a scrap quilt just for that purpose. Easy to throw in the wash when he gets it dirty.
Holly, I agree with you on the big drug companies. I have been on Metformin for 4 years now. My A1C fluctuates between 5.7 to 6.2 . It doesn't seem to matter what I do. Of course it is the lowest when I walk lots of miles and cut the carbs and sugar, but not a lot. Dean says I should try for 3 months without it and see what my next reading will be. I am afraid it will go over 6.7 and I will be marked as a true diabetic. I also read where 50% of Americans are "prediabetic" . That does not surprise me.
When a recipe calls for buttermilk, I do what Theresa mentioned and add white vinegar to the milk. Works just fine.

Judy, I had someone in to clean way before either of us retired, it was a good way to keep me from “unaliving “ Ralph. So no need to justify having help. When I worked I had the cleaner twice a month, after the pandemic I dropped it to once a month.
Steph’s little dog has two of her own little afghans that I made her, one for each of her beds. As Theresa said, not spoiled at all.
Today is both Heather and Ed’s 24th anniversary, and the 20th anniversary of my father in law’s death.
I haven’t put anything away yet, but it’s only the mantle that’s decorated, so it’s a 10 minute job.

INDY sounds like the perfect thing for both of you, I know Megan would be the same, only problem for us would be she's a tosser, and her father isn't, it would be hard for him LOL. I would love it! Take the help while you can, and enjoy her company at the same time. I am trying to keep up with things while I an, getting harder though as I get older too, and you are close Dean is 17 today (thank you
), he is legal to drive from today - if he has a license, which he doesn't as yet, maybe that's what you are thinking of the "legal" bit, it's still 18 for drinking, some might say too young for that even.
SANDRA did you enjoy Roy and Trigger, I do remember all the shows, Maverick, Sugarfoot, Cheyenne, maybe not the right spelling, we were all addicted to them as kids, Lone Ranger too LOL Hope you have a quiet day, enjoy all that chicken LOL I had to much too, still have a couple breasts need thawing.
HOLLY that anniversary came quick, don't seem that long ago, I know some testing might favour drug companies, but on the whole they do fairly well, my Dr actually is my biggest help, he doesn't just prescribe, he looks for alternatives first, but sometimes it's the pill/injection that has to happen.
DEVONNE I hope she comes around soon, hopefully you will be able to see the plaque fixed to the front, it will be a lovely thing to have.
THERESA seems like your system is so much different to ours, I just put it all in the hands of solicitors and they did it all, the notices etc, and then they just sent the remainder to where it was to go, I had my dad's estate pretty simple in the end, his house had been sold, and then the rest was finalised in a couple months, my BIL on the other hand had his in-laws estate to organise and it took over a year! Just depends how complicated the estate is. They had a hotel in Fiji and trusts to wind up.
I am waiting on the TV, supposed to come today, I had to cancel yoga, but I didn't want Pete to leave work early, he's only just got back to the office. I bet they come late today now, and we ARE having Chinese, found a place in the next suburb so the little devil gets his wish, but NO singing Happy Birthday at the table, we have to go home for that LOL
Trying to organise a catch up with my brother, we were supposed to have a group function on 18th, but nothing organised, sis asked could we meet, just the 6 of us for his birthday (it's 16th) so it's lunch on 17th, and I need to do a cake, maybe I'll just buy one. I assume they will be doing something with the family for his birthday. Getting 40-50 people on the same day is not fun, plus finding a venue, without booking out a function room which is quite expensive. Guess I better find somewhere for lunch, maybe my SIL can let me know where she would prefer.

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES......
1. IS THERE A RING OF DEBRIS AROUND URANIS?
2. HENSHAW OFFERS RARE OPPORTUNITY TO GOOSE HUNTERS.
ITS ANOTHER COLD ONE BUT NO WIND. THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE. WHEN I TOOK OUT MY TRASH YESTERDAY IS WAS COLD AND STILL. I CAN LIVE WITH THAT.
CHERYL......MAYBE YOU COULD JUST TELL THEM THAT ITS NOT SOMETHING YOU WOULD ORDER AGAIN. BUT IF THEY HAVE FEELINGS THAT HURT EASILY, THAT COULD BE A NO-NO. TOUGH DECISION. PERSONALLY I AM A PERSON WHO WANTS TO KNOW IF SOMEONE DOES OR DOES NOT LIKE A THING. NO SENSE REPEATING OR SHARING IF THEY DO NOT LIKE IT.
TRISH.......I AM ALL ROY'D AND TRIGGER'D OUT. SAW SO MANY OF THE MOVIES. WE HAVE A CHANNEL THAT RUNS THE OLD SERIES LIKE GUNSMOKE, CHEYENNE, THE VIRGINIAN, ETC PLUS WESTERN MOVIES OF OLD. I HAVE NOT SEEN SUGARFOOT THO. IT WAS A FAVE BACK THEN.
I FINISHED THE JIGSAW PUZZLE YESTERDAY. ANOTHER BOTCHED SECTION. FINALLY MOVED 2 BORDER PIECES FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AND RIGHT TO LEFT AND IT WENT MORE SMOOTHLY AFTER THAT. WHO KNOWS, IT MAY HAVE BEEN ME PUTTING THEM WRONG THO I TRY TO CHECK THE PATTERNS TO BE SURE THEY MATCH. BUT WITH 2 TO 3 OTHERS WORKING IT, IT COULD BE ANY OF US. NOT A BIG THING. I STARTED A NEW ONE TODAY, VERY SPRINGLIKE VIEW.
I FEEL REALLY GOOD TODAY SO ITS A GOOD TIME TO WASH MY FLOORS. I ONLY HAVE THE 2, KITCHEN AND BATHROOM AND THEY ARE NEITHER LARGE AREAS. I REMOVED THE STUFF AND THE RUGS AND SWEPT. HAD MY LUNCH OF A BEEF BURRITO, AND WHEN I HAVE RESTED A BIT, WILL TACKLE THE HARD PART, SCRUBBING THE DIRT OFF THE FLOORS.
OTHER THAN THAT, I CHATTED WITH THE GAL NEXT DOOR. SHE MENTIONED CROCK-POT RECIPES. I HAVE 2 C-POTS, A 7-QT AND A 5-QT, SO I COULD MAKE MEALS WITH THEM. I DON'T HAVE THE COUNTER SPACE SO THEY ARE PACKED BENEATH MY HANGING CLOTHES IN THE WALK-IN CLOSET. I WOULD HAVE TO MAKE ROOM ON THE COUNTER FOR USING THE POT DURING ITS COOKING TIME. I THINK THAT'S WHY I PREFER CASSEROLES. INTO THE OVEN AND OUT OF SIGHT TIL DONE.
STAY SAFE EVERYONE. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Sandra, I did the same thing on my last jigsaw. I could not get the final three pieces to fit, not matter how I twisted them. I blamed the puzzle maker of course! then, I thought, duh, perhaps you have the border wrong. Moved two pieces in the sky (all blue) and what do you know, they fit!! ![]()
![]()
I have not started a new on as I really need to clean and organize the puzzle, game shelf. It is a mess since the kids were here. I insist that they put them back on the shelf, but they just throw them in with no order at all. If I start the puzzle, I will not sort and organize.
I don't know what to prepare for supper tonight. I am so bored with food and we don't eat out often. We finished the last of the sauerkraut and pork yesterday and had sloppy joe for supper. I guess I will go shop the basement freezer and see what I can come up with for tonight's supper.
We just had a HUGE flock of black birds in our back yard and in the neighbors yard!!! The noise as they came in sounded like an airplane. Dean sat up and said, "what was that?" We looked out and he said it couldn't be those birds and I said no. Then they flew off and yes, there it was again! They are still in the trees all around us and the noise is so oud outside right now. I know there is a word for such a large group of birds but I cannot think of it. they were those big black starling birds and we did see a few red-winged black birds among them.

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
Trish I could pay a solicitor/lawyer to do this, but my way is only a couple hundred dollars, hiring is several thousand. Easy decision. All mom has is bank accounts and mineral rights. I had to probate only because of the mineral rights. Stinks, but it is what it is. ![]()
Cheryl, we get those birds too! Sounds like a scene out of the Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds" ![]()
QB is the cord of the crockpot long enough to reach from the stovetop. That's where mom used to put it at the lake house, limited counter space.![]()
I also have an awesome cake recipe for the crock-pot![]()
On the magical hold button for my phone calls. Since I have the paperwork I need, I have to call to get it sent out. I would have had to do this either way, if I hired someone or if I did it myself. First call kept me on hold then said wait time is too long and disconnected me! ![]()
Figured while I am on hold I would play on the computer! First place I came was here! ![]()
Actually got a human, I know what I need to send and where. She was very helpful. Sounds like I do not have to go to Columbia, SC to close the accounts! That's awesome. I hate that drive! ![]()
I have done my walk and started supper in the crock-pot. Leftover pork roast, shredded and bar-b-q sauce added. So BBQ pork. I love when a meal gives me other different meals, not the same leftover, over and over! ![]()
On to my next call! I have lots of them!
( I got a human right off the bat! ) ![]()
That's all from my little corner of the world! ![]()

GOOD AFTERNOON ALL!
HAVE NOT TRIED THE VINEGAR AND MILK. I DID KNOW THER WAS A POWDER. BOUGHT SOME BUT NEVER USED IT. I REMBER THE GOOD BUTTERMILK FROM CHLDHOOD. IT HAD FLAKES OF BUTTER. FOR YEARS LESS AND LIKE THE BUTTERMILK I LOVED. HAVEN'T MADE BUTTERMILK POUND HCAKE DUE TO LACK OF GOOD BUTTERMILK. NOW IT IS MORE LIKE A SOUR SKIM MILK.
I LIKE THE BLUE SKY PLANNER. HAS WEEKLY AND MONTHLY PLANNER. I GET IT AT STAPLES. CAN SEND PICTURES FOR SOMEONE TO POST IF ANYONE INTERESTED. COMES WITH DIFFERENT, PRETTY FRONT AND BACK. SEVERAL STYLES BUT I LUKE THE ONE I GET. ALMOST WENT FOR CHEAPER ONE, BUT FIGURED WOULD NOT LIKE ANOTHER. ONE. Carroll's CALENDAR IS ALSO A BLUE SKY, BUT A DIFFERENT model. LIKE THAT THE SQUARES ARE FAIRLY LARGE. I WRITE LARGER THESE DAYS.
WE WILL BE HAVING SOME ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES THIS WEEK. WON'T MIND THAT.
STAY SAFE.

Cheryl, that's a good way to put it: so bored with food. I have one leftover (saving it for tomorrow's supper after H. has lunch with Dave) so, we're going shopping at the grocery close to suppertime and either get chicken there or order a pizza to bring home. They kid me for always looking for something on the internet but I can't seem to remember the old tried and trues I used to make and it's become another source of angst.
I love to hear your tales about Bosco. Can't imagine how big he is and his FEET, especially after having little 5 lb. Fancy.
There is a lovely word for that big huge swirl of many birds, but I also can't think of it right now.
Trish, I thought the boys are two yrs. apart, but I see it's three. I think age 18 is legal age for everything here but I'm not sure about the drinking age. For the life of me, I can't imagine 16 being legal age for drinking, as it is in Switzerland, and now that deadly bar fire with so many lost.
When your boys reach their full growth you will truly walk among giants! I'm 5' 3" and Andrew is 6' 2" and thats how I feel...as I hug him around his waist! Hope you can work out the details of your brother's birthday.
Theresa, most pets are spoiled, so enjoy him with no apologies. I often think of our farm animals. Grandpa was kind to his, but they were NOT pets. I never ever saw him pet anything and he always called the dog, "bonehead"... mostly to get me to disagree vehemently, I think, as he was a teaser and that made him laugh. I'm so glad you found a 2nd special 'guy' to enjoy and do for.
I got Howard's jacket fixed to his standards. At first, we couldn't find the mend afterwards--helps when you are looking on the correct sleeve! Took me a long time to make many tiny stitches but it's both his and my favorite jacket. He's already replaced the zipper pull, once. This morning, I turned back the very top of the zippered area on my new fleece vest. Since the zippers go all the way to the top edge, they drive me nuts so I altered it and it's acceptable and much more wearable. I rather enjoy mending and I know it's a thing, now...visible mending. However, not going to take that up!
And, since it's already the 5th, I've decided to table trying to find a daily sewing practice. The two years I tried that, I was often a bit behind (since you don't know if you'll have tomorrow
) which caused me more angst so whatever I do in the slow stitching genre, and I am interested in that, I'm not going to turn it into a daily pressure again instead of a daily pleasure. Lots of ideas and videos on U Tube for this...
Better quit. Today is my picking up and putting away day and tomorrow, ML will come by and we'll decide then what to do and Howard will be at lunch with Dave.
Have a good rest of the day...![]()
