Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Good day all!

Devonne, I love corn bread and buttermilk!!  Yummy.  We do the sauerkraut and and not greens and black eyed peas.  I do like black eyed peas, though.  Not the collards.  Someone told me I just did not have a batch that was prepared "right".  As a "Northerner" I don't know who to do that.    I have our sauerkraut in the oven right now.  Dean prefers hotdogs, so I put them into the sauerkraut later, after the pork is done.

I still have my table full of snowmen up and am thinking of keeping them for a while.  They make me happy as most of them were gifts from Kelli or from students at school.  Everything else we took down and put away yesterday.

We had a nice time last night.  We ate, played games and laughed, which is a  wonderful thing.  Aaron could not win at anything last night and he usually does, so we all had a god laugh at that.  We played a dice game that Dean received for Christmas called "Farkle".  If you do not get the correct points, you do not get any points and are "Farkled!"  Aaron was Farkled a lot.

It was a slow ride home for Aaron last night as the roads were snowy and very icy.  It usually takes him 20 minutes and it took him 35.  Today the roads are clear and it is sunny and bright, but cold.

I hate fireworks!  I was expecting them last night, but it was very cold and snowing, so perhaps that deferred them.  We did hear g** shots, though.  People are stupid to shoot guns in neighborhoods when the bullets have to land somewhere.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

MIXED METAPHORS.......
1.  I WAS SO SURPRISED YOU COULD HAVE KNOCKED ME OVER WITH A FENDER.
2.SHE WAS A DIVA OF IMMENSE TALENT THAT,  AFTER HEARING HER PERFORM, THERE WAS SELDOM A DRY SEAT IN THE HOUSE.

SUNNY AND COLD TODAY.  WE GOT ABOUT 2" OF SNOW YESTERDAY.
I BAKED A CHICKEN BREAST YESTERDAY AND HAD IT WITH MASHED FOR A MEAL.  THE REST I AM SAVING TO MAKE MY CHICKEN RICE SOUP TONITE FOR THE WEEKEND.  I ALSO HAVE SOME PORK CHOPS DEFROSTED.  I WILL NOT STARVE.
LAST NITE I WATCHED SEVERAL MOVIES THAT WERE BEING SHOWN WITH ROY ROGERS AND HIS HORSE TRIGGER.  I WAS A BIG FAN AS A KID, LOVING THAT HORSE.  HE MADE ME A HORSE-LOVER SO THAT I GOT MY OWN IN THE 70S.  LOVE HORSES AND DOGS, ESPECIALLY GERMAN SHEPHERDS.  THEN THERE WERE THE THIN MAN MOVIES WHICH I TOTALLY ENJOYED ONCE AGAIN.  THE YEAR STARTED NICELY FOR ME.

THIS MORNING I STAYED BUSY.  TOOK DOWN MY 2 SMALL XMAS TREES, AND THE LIGHTS AND PACKED ALL THE DECOR AWAY INTO BOXES.  THE NEXT STEP WILL BE MAKING ROOM IN THE BACK CORNER OF MY WALK-IN CLOSET FOR THE STUFF.  THEN ON TOP OF THOSE I THINK I WILL STORE MY SEVERL PACKAGES OF BATTING THAT I HAVE.

I DO NOT MAKE NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS SINCE I NEVER KEPT THEM FOR MORE THAN A COUPLE WEEKS BACK IN THE DAY.  NOWADAYS I JUST MAKE A PLAN AND TRY TO STICK TO IT FOR AWHILE.  MY PLAN THESE DAYS IS TO EAT SMALLER PORTIONS AND LESS SNACKING SO I CAN LOSE A FEW MORE POUNDS.  I HAVE A DR'S APPT FOR CHECK-UP THIS MONTH AND I AM SURE HE WILL BE HAPPY ABOUT THE 25 LBS I LOST SINCE LAST SEEING HIM 6 MONTHS AGO.  I NEED TO LOSE MORE.  WITH THE XMAS GOODIES ALL GONE NOW I HOPE TO MANAGE SOME MORE LOSS BEFORE I SEE HIM MID-MONTH.

TODAY I HAVE TO DO MY LAPS, AND I WANT TO READ SOME AND PLAY SOLITAIRE TO KEEP MY BRAIN ACTIVE.  I WATCH SOME GAME SHOWS WITH MULTIPLE CHOICE SO I CAN TEST MY BRAIN.  MY BIG PROBLEM WITH THESE GAMES IS POPCULTURE.  I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE NEW SINGERS, ACTORS, BANDS, DANCE CRAZES.  I NEVER EVEN SAW BRITNEY SPEARS UNTIL A SHORT VIEW DURING A COMMERCIAL LAST MONTH.  I AM BEHIND THE TIMES.
MY WALL CALENDAR IS ALL SET WITH IMPORTANT BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES AND SUCH FOR THIS YEAR.  I HOPE I DO NOT GET ANYONE'S SPECIAL DATE WRONG THIS TIME AROUND.  I WILL DO MY BEST.

MY THOUGHTS FOR THIS YEAR:
1.  CONTINUE LOSING SLOWLY THOSE EXTRA POUNDS..
2.  DO A BIT MORE SEWING.  I HAVE SOME WIPS SITTING AROUND THAT NEED FINISHING AND LOTS OF SKETCHES I WANT TO TRY.
3.  CONTINUE TO STAY SOCIAL WITH THE GROUP IN MY BUILDING.

WISHING YOU ALL A VERY GOOD YEAR.  STAY WARM.  HUGS, QB S

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is sort of dark outside today.  Not a leaf is stirring.  So guess I'll not plan a thing for today, since it's dark and not a leaf is stirring.  Have a wonderful day, everyone!!  Will check in tomorrow, BJ.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Got the dishwasher loaded. Was surprised I had a full load. Somewhat disappointed in this LG dishwasher. It's only 3 years old and it doesn't dry the dishes. There's always moisture on the door when the load is done. I need to call them.

I put together a ladder bookcase yesterday. It's small and I really glad it. I really needed the storage space for books.

Cheryl, I know you worry until Aaron gets home. Those slick roads can be so dangerous. I just added more buttermilk to my next grocery delivery, lol. I bought some new cornbread mix at Walmart that is the best cornbread I have ever had. It's called Simply Homemade. Think it's made by Fleischman. You need to try it. Instead of adding regular milk, I added buttermilk. It's so good and it makes a big pan. I also prefer hot dogs in my sauerkraut.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Devonne, my dishwasher does the same thing!  My dishes never are dry, even with the dry options selected.  This thing is only a year old and it is a Whirlpool.  We usually hand wash because by the time we go through a cycle and let it "dry",  we have to dry those darn dishes.   So, we usually (Dean and I) wash everyday after supper.  I do try to run the dishwasher every couple of weeks to keep the lines open.  We have well water and the lines will get blackish  water if not used.  Corn bread is so easy to do, I usually just whip up a batch from scratch, but I will look into that brand.

All quiet today.  Dean took Gabriel down to Columbus for a hockey game with Anthony and Andrew.  It is part of Gabriel's Christmas from Andrew.   Aaron was supposed to take him, but he could not get off work, so Dean is going.  Dean cannot stand hockey, but he is going anyway cause the grandkids want to go!!

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

There is a buttermilk powder on Amazon for those who use it rarely, like me.

We had our first appointment with our new physician, and we both like her. She’s pretty chill, and says every 6 months is fine.

Finishing up the last of the chicken enchiladas for dinner, so I have to figure out what to make for tomorrow.

I spent a good part of the morning just putting things into the rooms they belong in. Now you can actually sit on the loveseat!

Stay warm!

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

CAROL thank you so much your card arrived yesterday, so thoughtful

CHERYL we all worry when we are waiting for a return, just a habit I guess, I am always glad when they get back from camping - and they did about an hour ago LOL

I knew you could get buttermilk in powder, just found out a few days ago, I didn't realise there was such a thing but apparently you can also make it yourself by adding something to ordinary milk powder, I forget what it was, something simple. I don't use that either, but I did buy custard powder last week, seems like there is a bit of a come back for it, lots of people adding some to packet mixes and saying they are better.

SANDRA good for you getting things down, I haven't taken our tree down yet, maybe tomorrow, I also am not making resolutions, just want to continue as I have been doing, I did gain a bit back over Christmas, but it's already gone, so I lost a week LOL
I also need to get my WIPs done, I have so many, and I'm sitting here in the sewing rom, and planning on getting some out to start.

I do need to finish the Alice In wonderland quilt soon too, with Julie is selling her long arm this year, they will do quilts at the LQS but I may do mine as QAYG instead, I have done a few like that, and may do smaller projects, not so much hand sewing, my thumbs are giving me grief

John came to dinner with us last night, nice to have him join us, Gary hasn't seen him in a while, and the other guy who usually joins us now is well over 6' (about 6'8") tall, he got shock when he saw John is almost as tall as him I think he likes to think he's unusual, Dean will  be as tall too

It's the last of our birthdays on Monday, I already have his gift, just need to get a card.

John had to go to work this afternoon before they got home so I went around to wait, and use John's car space to keep the house front clear of anyone else parking there. The dogs were happy, I read and they were only another hour after John left.

Gary needed to reverse the caravan down the street, it's not a very long street but it's a cul-de-sac and he can't turn the big van around, so it needs to reverse into it's spot. Megan leaves her car in the vans spot till they get back, then she can put hers away - so a bit of musical chairs with the cars.

I have done the floors, and bathrooms, and hoping the TV will come next week, they keep changing the day of the "estimated delivery" LOL BUT they do say they will message when it's out for delivery. And that hasn't happened yet.

I was just thinking about your dishwashers, do you use rinse aid, my dishes don't dry properly if it's run out. I only need to fill the dispenser when the light comes on, sometimes a few weeks or more.

I hope it's not how they are now, no point in having one if it doesn't dry. And I need a new one, have needed one for over a year, it gives odd messages about water, but I ignore, and it keeps working, waiting till it stops before I get the new one, I asked about fixing it and Bosch advised that the call out wouldn't be worth it, the machine is old and if still working just let it keep going, it would be more than $500 to try to fix - can get a new one for not much more than that

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

STUDENTS' BLOOPERS.....
1.  THE PROBLEM WITH INTERSEXUAL SWIMMING IS THAT THE BOYS OFTEN OUTSTRIP THE GIRLS.
2.  RUNNING IS A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE, AND I THANK GOD FOR EXPOSING ME TO THE TRACK TEAM.

AS USUAL, COLD AND SUNNY TODAY.  NICE.
TODAY MY SON SHOPS AND WE HAVE SOUP FOR LUNCH TOGETHER.  ITS ALWAYS NICE TO SEE HIM.

I WATCHED SOME HORSE RACING YESTERDAY.  YOU KNOW ME, I LOVE SEEING THE HORSES.  I EVEN PICKED A COUPLE WINNERS.  ALWAYS MAKES ME FEEL GOOD.

I MADE THE CHICKEN RICE SOUP BUT ALSO BAKED A COUPLE PORK CHOPS.  I HAD 2/3 OF ONE WITH THE LAST OF SOME MASHED FOR SUPPER LAST NITE.  I WILL GET 2 MORE MEALS FROM IT EITHER WITH SOME SALAD OR TATERS IN SOME MANNER.  AND SOUP.  I WILL HAVE SOUP EVEN AFTER SHARING A BIT.

I, TOO, NEED TO GET BACK TO MY WIPS.  AND MAKING QAYG IS A GREAT IDEA.  I WOULD DO THAT IF I WAS NOT INTO MAKING WALL HANGINGS SO MUCH.  I ALSO LIKE TO ADD SOME HAND-EMBELLISHING ON A WH NOW AND THEN.  I CAN DO THAT WITH MY CAROUSEL HORSE WH.  THEN I CAN TAKE IT TO CRAFT MORNINGS TIL ITS DONE.  FIRST, THO, I NEED TO SATIN-STITCH THE PIECE ON MY MACHINE.

TODAY IS A SLOW ONE.  JUST SORT MY PILLS, VAC A BIT AND CLEAN THE BATHROOM.  ITS MY USUAL SAT. SCHEDULE.  WHEN I GET MY MEATS I DO NOT SORT AND FREEZE TIL TOMORROW.  I AM LUCKY I CAN PUT AWAY ALL THE OTHER GROCERIES TODAY.

STAY SAFE EVERYONE. HUGS QB S

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

We haven’t used the dishwasher in years.  I think 3? Times after we first moved in?  Then we had the kitchen floor redone….we should have tried it at least once before that or replaced it.  We didn’t and so it has sat because we’re afraid it may leak and ruin the floor.  🤷‍♀️. It doesn’t matter, it’s just the 2 of us, and I know you’ll criticize but we use a fair amount of paper bowls, plates, etc.  Don’t forget I live with Mr Clean so he washes as he goes along.  Never leaves anything in the sink or drain board.  lol.
Everyone, except last year we have gone to LakeGeorge in Sept….even before the kids were born.  The last 8 years or so, my DD and her DH have joined us for a few days…as our guests.  The date never changes because it’s an event weekend, etc. Last night out of the blue she texted and wanted to know if we can go to LG in the spring?  I said, sure you can go anytime you want but we’re not changing.  So she said, well she meant in addition to Sept.  I said no.  Now I’m sure she’s annoyed.  But it’s not the money so much, although it’s a very  expensive trip.it’s the
principal.  I’m sure her DH would be horrified if he knew.
It’s a 12 hr trip for us with one overnight…2 1/2hrs for them.    Oh and we have to go NY in June for grandson’s graduation party.  Not the graduation .  I’m sure the
only reason we’re being included after all this time is for a gift.  🙁.
Well, I’m already in a bad mood, I think I’ll go bad to bed.

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is raining hard here this morning and the wind is really blowing, not a great day!!  I'm not sure if our girls are coming today or not.  It's got to be miserable driving, so they may stay at home.  I really don't have anything to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all a wonderful day, BJ.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Devonne, your card arrived today!  Thank you; you have beautiful handwriting, by the way.  Carol and Trish, yours arrived a short time ago and I can't remember if I thanked you both.

I told you yesterday that Dean and Gabriel went to Columbus for a hockey game.  They stayed overnight and now they are at a bakery where Abby works.  Dean called me and said the pastries were amazing and delicious and he wanted me to pick one out.  He was going to use the phone to show me the pastry case.  I told him just to pick something out.  I really am going to try to eliminate most of the sugar from my diet.  I have a very sweet tooth and love sweets of just about any kind.  So, I guess I will start after this treat!   My glucose level was 108 and my A1C level was 6.2 at my last dr appt, so I really need to be aware of what is going into my mouth.  I have not been doing that and I go again for my 3 month check on January 19.  It will not be good.

I am cleaning today.  I have a pile of towels and blankets to take to the local Humane Society.  I also have a small pile of stuff to donate and some clothes that are trash and not worthy of donation.  The local high school has a collection bin for just such things, so I will take them there.  I am not sure where they go, but the notice we received said clothes, shoes, purses, etc that were unfit for donations were accepted at that bin.

I am cleaning my office today as I thing the dust has taken over.  I have a shelf full of jigsaw puzzles, board games and toys that need to be reorganized.

It is not too cold today ( 34 degrees) and it is supposed to be 55 degrees by next Wednesday, so that will be a nice break from the cold.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Cheryl, glucose levels make me crazy. When I first worked in the hospital, 70-110 was the normal range. Then studies, funded by pharmaceutical companies, decided it should be under 100. So of course more people are now on meds, and said pharmaceutical companies are raking in more cash. That’s my soapbox for today.

I keep my passwords on a spreadsheet, and I updated this morning. Every company wants a password- so annoying.

Janet, we didn’t go to either of our local grandchildren’s graduations, tickets were limited to 2 per kid. I was just as happy not to go, graduations are boring.

Another cold one, 32 now. Have to figure out dinner.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Holly, I got mail from my pension to recreate another account and now we have to change our passwords every six months. Crazy! I keep my passwords in an app called Last Pass.

I didn't get all my Christmas cards out this year. Hope to do better next year.

Cheryl, thank you. My handwriting is a little more shakier than it used to be, lol.

Holly - I totally agree but an invitation or an explanation might have been nice.  I surprised she mentioned the part date…in a text…. Not really an invite.  😡
