THE LAST OF THE READER'S DIGEST JOKES....LAUGHTER THE BEST MEDICINE.....
1. DOUGIE LEANED SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT, SO HIS FRIEND LANCE KEPT AFTER HIM TO HAVE HIS LEGS CHECKED. EVENTUALLY, TO SHUT HIM UP, DOUGIE WENT TO THE DOCTOR, WHO FOUND THE LEFT LEG WAS A QUARTER-INCH SHORTER THAN THE RIGHT. ONE SIMPLE OPERATION LATER, AND HE WAS CURED.
" SEE," SAID LANCE, 'YOU DIDN'T BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAID A DOCTOR COULD FIX YOUR LEG."
DOUGIE NODDED, "I STAND CORRECTED."
SUNNY AND BRITE BUT COLD, COLD, COLD IN THE SINGLE DIGITS. BRRRR.
I HOPE IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER YOU ALL HAD A FINE CHRISTMAS DAY. MY SON, HIS WIFE, MY GRSON AND HIS GIRLFRIEND ALL CAME BY. WE HAD A FINE TIME TOGETHER. I GOT GIFTS AND GIFT CERTIFICATES TO MY GROCERY STORE AND TARGET. I GOT A NEW FAST WIRELESS CHARGER FOR MY PHONE. I THOUGHT MINE WAS A FAST ONE, BUT THIS ONE IS BETTER HE SAYS. GOT A FEW OTHER THINGS I CAN USE ALSO. WE SHARED A BIT OF FOOD AND SNOWBALLS AND THEY TOOK SOME HOME WITH THEM. IT WAS A GOOD TIME.
MY DAUGHTER DID NOT COME. MY ELDER GRDAU WAS HAVING ONE OF HER MIGRAINES AND SHE'S THE DRIVER. SO I TOLD THEM TO STAY HOME AND REST. NOT TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING HERE. I CAN JUST AS EASILY ENJOY THEIR COMPANY ANOTHER DAY.
FOR SUPPER I ROASTED A SMALL 1 1/2 LB PORK LOIN WITH POTATOES AND CARROTS. SHARED THAT WITH ANOTHER, THE ONE WHO BROUGHT ME THE PORK LOIN.
I WILL BE DEFROSTING SOME MEATS TODAY. I THINK A STEAK FOR 2 MEALS AND THEN SOME GROUND BEEF FOR MEATY TOMATO SAUCE WITH MEATBALLS AND SPAGHETTI WILL BE ANOTHER FEW THAT I CAN SHARE.
AS TO RELAXING, I CAN DO THAT WELL. I HAVE BOOKS TO READ AND THERE ARE MOVIES I RECORDED THIS WEEK THAT NEED CATCHING UP WITH. LATER IN THE WEEK THERE IS THE TAKING DOWN OF THE XMAS DECOR TO STORE AWAY ANOTHER YEAR AND PUTTING UP WINTER THINGS INSTEAD.
NO MORE RUSHING TO GET THINGS DONE.
HAVE A GREAT DAY LADIES AND GET SOME WELL-NEEDED REST. HUGS, QB S ![]()

I just love reading everyone's posts!! It is fairly dark this morning with a lot of birds flying about. My mind isn't what it used to be, takes me awhile to think things through. But I can think a bit, love looking outside and seeing the flag flying, it is so beautiful!
It is hard to believe, a new year will be upon us very soon. Hopefully some wonderful things will happen, not sure what!!! Well, I really don't have anything else to say, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

We had a nice quiet day yesterday and having another today. Howard is upstairs doing who knows what. I've been on a reading kick lately, and am nearly 1/2 way thru my latest.
We do have something for the big family next door so I will be calling to see when we can take that over to them.
QB, you had a lovely visit with Matt and family. So nice of them and Colleen and hers coming will be something to looked forward to.
No matter how much we're together or in touch by phone, ML and I always have something to discuss, figure out, empathize with each other over and we did that for over an hour on the phone, yesterday after they opened their presents for each other.
Dec. 26 literally used to be my favorite ordinary day of the year. The Christmas hubbub and food and the long approach totally wore me out. Howard never helped then but I didn't need it then, at least not like now.
But... on the 26th, although exhausted, I was giddy knowing I could do something else of my choosing, not something of absolute necessity. Was that my only child-ness coming out or have any of you felt that way?
Have been eating my lunch with you and now I need to quit reading and DO something! ![]()

Our day yesterday was quiet. It was just us as it has been for years. 😞
Glad you all had a nice holiday.

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
Yesterday was busy. No surprise there! I enjoyed having the kids here, especially since I know that some day it will be split between us and the in-laws. Assuming they ever date! ![]()
Today is leisure day, for me. Sara, Luke, and Todd went to Waffle House for Breakfast. Then they climbed Kennesaw Mountain, then to my MIL's. They are on their way home. Today has just been me and Simba. ![]()
I did go to the park to walk, then Lenscrafters to get my glasses fixed. Then to TJ Maxx just to see what they had. It didn't matter what they had, there was no way on earth I would have stood in that line. People with buggies filled and overflowing. I walked around and left! I'm reminded why I do not shop on the 26th! ![]()
Glasses are now staying on my face. I messed them up on Wednesday, I found a pothole in the Target parking lot, the hard way. I was walking to the store after parking, and watching out for cars, not the road/potholes, and down I went. I'm OK, that's what's important. The glasses did not fair as well! They barely stayed on my face after that! They are good now! ![]()
I have enjoyed my day of rest. They didn't ask if I wanted to go, just assumed I needed the rest, and Simba needed someone to play, let dog out and let dog in. Right now he is napping on the couch. Silly dog! ![]()
Santa Paws was good to him. He got a coffee wood stick, and some dog snacks. He loves his stick. It is made from old growth Coffee trees/bushes, that are removed because of age or lack of production after the harvest. It doesn't splinter, just dissolves with his chewing and doesn't harm him. A win win! He has something he will not destroy in 5 minutes or less! ![]()
Nothing else exciting in my little corner of the world. ![]()
Later my Friends! ![]()

Judy, December 26 is a nice day of peace and quiet, no obligations, no necessary shopping, just relaxing. How nice of you & Howard to get your neighbors a gift. I remember they have a lot of kids.
Greg and Carter came early on the 24th and stayed late. They came back Christmas Day at 2:00. Gary & family came at 6:00. We had a wonderful time. We got to play card games before the entire crew came. Hannah didn't come; she worked & went straight home.
I made peanut butter fudge, brownies and the Ritz Crackers dipped in white chocolate. Also made a big pot of chili and it was all gone. Greg loved the Ritz cracker cookies! It was a hit with everyone.
Theresa, glad you didn't hurt yourself when you fell. How nice you could stay home with Simba.
The weather is amazing and we will enjoy it until next Tuesday. It drops down in the 20's Monday night. It's 69 now; 74 tomorrow. I turned on the a/c for a little while.

It has been a busy couple of days for sure. I am ready for some quiet time and relaxation. Anthony and family came over on Christmas evening and spent the night. Then today we all opened gifts with Aaron and his family. Lots of noise and laughter, my favorite part. Aaron and Katie brought a game they all played. I did not play as it was a role playing game. (Sort of like Dungeons and Dragons). Emmily brought Go Fish cards and Christmas dominoes. Both were fun to play, especially with so many of us.
We had a breakfast casserole of eggs, bacon, potatoes and peppers and it was good. Then we ordered out for wings for lunch. They all left about 3:00 p.m. Katie works a second job at Barnes and Noble book store and she had to go to work at 1:30, so she left early. Now Dean is napping in the recliner in front of the TV and I am on the computer. I did send home most of the sweets and any left over food with them, so we don't have a bunch of it around now.
It has been raining all day, so no snow. Devonne, sounds like your weather is as weird and changing as ours. Almost 50 today but will be 30 by Saturday night.
Sounds like we all had a nice holiday!

I just posted on the recipe page, Christmas spinach salad. It was really good.
We had a lovely day! We tried something new, Christmas brunch. That way Heather and family could go to his sister’s for dinner. The brunch worked out perfectly, we think it might be our new tradition. Much less work and stress for Heather than a dinner, especially since she worked Christmas Eve day. I made the spinach salad and an overnight cranberry eggnog French toast- I can post that recipe if anyone wants, it was really good. I baked it and we left when it came out of the oven. Heather made Mac and cheese, a broccoli quiche, and tater tots, and fresh berries. We ate, then did gifts and visited. We left a little before 2, so bonus, not driving in the dark.
All day long our family group chat was loaded with pictures, which was fantastic. For our dinner I made a ham slice and an Aldi sweet potato casserole.
It was clear and cold yesterday. Today we knew would be bad weather starting late this afternoon. We’ve had snow, sleet, winter mix, and right now it’s snow again, to be followed by more sleet.
I had an appointment to have labs drawn at noon, so we went to Olive Garden afterwards for lunch- soup and salad for me. Then home for a nap! Tomorrow I have no plans to leave the house.
Now I’m off to bed!

We also had a busy but nice Christmas, we saw his sis in the morning, stayed with her from 9am till she went to lunch, she was not happy she couldn't come to stay with us, but she simply doesn't understand how hard it is, she even told us to wait while she had her lunch, and she would come back to her rom, no mention of us eating, she doesn't think about anyone else and whether they might want to eat LOL
We then had a lovely evening with M & G and the boys, had some fun giving Oscar and Alfie their gifts, they got new toys, they really have way too many, but they loved them, seemed to understand that they had each been given certain ones, and didn't take the others toys.
They love having us around.
We had a lovely dinner, scallops wrapped in bacon, some prawns cooked on the Bbq and some other nibbles, then of course the turkey, ham and salads, then dessert, my goodness, I had more sugar in one hour than the whole year!! Lots of cherries and other fresh fruit were eaten as well, I had a biscotti for breakfast the next day with coffee, couldn't face any more food LOL
John is now on his own, he has tons of leftovers, but I will see in a day or two if he'd like to come for dinner. The others have arrived at the camp site, =19.5pxand will be home in just over a week, apparently cold down there too!
I have been busy today, yesterday was quiet, and I had a nice rest, as it was Friday we had dinner with Gary, the club was almost deserted. Have never seen it so empty, the chef told us to "please order and give me something to do" LOL
I did some washing today, still losing the bit of weight I wanted to, haven't weighed today, but still feel OK, and I'm down 7lb, slow and steady LOL I need to lose another 5lb and I'll be happy.
I should do some cleaning up, I have set up one of the new jigsaw puzzles, and it's going to be a little tricky, I might have to sort the pieces into the sky so I can get at least that part done, the rest is all very much the same.
Have a wonderful day, it's quite cold here, was so cold yesterday I actually turned the heat on LOL and today we have warm clothes on, it got cool on the afternoon of Christmas day and just got colder, so nice to sleep though.
I need to have a coffee, I have lots of ham, and I'll do eggs with it, and we have lots of salad still - so that will be dinner.

Back from grocery store. I was there at 8 am …. empty. In fact the only business I saw open was the paint store and the gas station. Now I’ll do some laundry and start to move some things out of the spare bedrooms for painters. Maybe this time it won’t be as last minute “fire drill”.
See how exciting and heartwarming my life is?

Sounds delicious, Holly. I would use another kind of cheese, too. I don't care much for goat cheese and Howard wouldn't eat blue cheese. Your brunch sounded wonderful.
As QB said, sounds like we all had good times this Christmas. We (ML and Pam) picked a different time frame this year, too. We ate at 3:00, not noonish nor evening due to all of them having to drive either 25 miles or 35 back home and at night and work the next day. For our Mexican feast, it worked out well. I have one puff pastry sheet left and am considering doing the same as the little pumpkin desserts only with spoonfuls of the Nutrella Howard got for his Santa gift.
Don't want the puff pastry to go to waste. The other choice is a cooked apple filling that I found on the internet.
It's a nice gray day here, but not a gloomy gray. Andrew has left his parent to go to Muncie, IN for a wedding of a Purdue friend. The groom reserved a block of rooms so that's taken care of. He'll come back tomorrow, stay overnight, load up Monday and go back to Chicago for the rest of the week he has off--continuing to prepare for busy season, mostly homemade frozen entrees to feed himself. As with Theresa, 'someday', maybe, it will all change if HE ever starts dating. His looooong education is over, finally. He got his CPA certificate in the mail, so it's all official now. Thank goodness!!![]()
Linda, sorry you had to miss the fun this year, especially the time with your son and DIL. Hope you're feeling better, now, or very soon. Hope your sis has a good time and it's nice that you can take care of the cat for her...and that Darrell is responding well to the PT.
I'm off to find something for lunch, then more reading or, ideally, more tidying. We'll see which one wins out.

Linda, so sorry you were sick during Christmas. I hope you get well really soon. I'm glad the therapist is coming to the house for Darrell and it is helping him.
Cheryl, Carter loves to play a card game called Skull King. I'm not very good at it, but we had fun. We also played Mexican Train, which I enjoy.
I had to buy a big jar of Marshmallow Creme; no 7 oz. jars left so decided to fix another batch of pb fudge. I wanted to try Monkfruit & Erythritol sweetener. I also used Jif Reduced Fat pb. I let it boil 3 minutes like the regular pb fudge. It's still warm, so will see if it firms up.
Sandra, I'm going to do the same thing; put up one thing at a time. I don't have much...three wreaths, four snowmen, two 4 ft. trees on the hearth and a small 2 ft. tree on the dining room table. I also have two of the lighted blinking pictures on the wall. I love those and they are hard to find. One is a covered bridge winter scene and the other one is a bird house with cardinals. I take the batteries out before they go back in the closet.
Trish, I wish 5 lbs. is all I had to lose, lol!
Why didn't John want to go camping?
Off to find a movie to watch. I pay for Netflix, but I am finding better movies for free on Prime Video.
