Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Almost another year!!
They go so fast now!!

HOLLY thanks for the recipe, I make one pretty much the same, I use Greek Feta, I am not a big goats cheese fan, some brands are good, had a couple that smelt like goats, tuned me right off LOL

It's been another cool day here today, had the heat on again for a bit, but just turned it off. I'll be complaining about the heat soon enough

INDY sounds like a lovely day was had by all, Andrew is very organised isn't he, hope the neighbours enjoy their gift.

Sandra too funny, those last ones I do enjoy them it must take you a long time to get them all typed up, THANK YOU. You have another visit to enjoy soon, have fun!

STRINGS so sorry you ave been so sick, not fun, and missing out on things as well I'm glad that D is getting some help, hopefully it will make a difference

THERESA ouch on the fall, glad you weren't injured, hope no lasting effects, your boy will look after you, he will snuggle up to make mum better

DEVONNE John would go, but he works part time, and doesn't want to give up his shifts at work, he needs the money to keep going out with friends, LOL - he is content looking after the dogs, and no doubt staying up till the early hours, he knows he can come here for food, or I will drop it around, being so close they feel safe him being by himself, we are just a few minutes away. I did need =19.5pxto love at least 12lb, so 1/2 way there, and it's slow, I do feel better though. So proud of Megan, since she started training she has lost over 35lb, took a while to start losing it, she was getting discouraged, but now she can see the difference, her clothes are all too loose. So a shopping spree when she gets home.

CHERYL I love the idea of giving out the leftovers, I did leave some with =19.5pxMegan and she took them away to share them - makes it =19.5pxeasy not to have temptation around!!

I did nothing much today, started cleaning, and worked only puzzle for a good while, it's to an easy one, but going together better now sometimes you just need to keep browsing through the pieces and then they seem to jump out at you LOL

I need to get some ironing done, I don't do much, but I washed a few things that are linen and they need pressing, I usually can get away with hanging things and they don't need it, but linen is different.

We had an easy dinner of lamb steaks and salad, mash for them  and the last of the potato salad for me, cleaning out the leftovers from Christmas, we still have Christmas Crack, and most of the ham, plus meringues and nibbles. It will all go, the meringues are sealed in packing so they will last. The ham I will cut up during the week and cryovac. That little machine comes in handy, I have kept ham in the fridge for a few months successfully. You get sick of it after a bit, and there is only 3 of us.

MANGLED MODIFIERS.......
1.  MR. BERRA HAD DRIVEN OVER WITH HIS WIFE, CARMEN, FROM THEIR HOME IN A MERCEDES FOR THE SOFTBALL GAME.
2.  NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE BLAST, WHICH WAS ATTRIBUTED TO A BUILDUP OF GAS BY ONE TOWN OFFICIAL.

I THINK THIS IS THE COLDEST DEC. WE'VE HAD IN YEARS.  THE ONLY THING I NEED TO DO OUTSIDE IS TAKE OUT MY TRASH BUT I WILL BUNDLE UP.

TRISH.....THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVELY CARD.  IT CAME YESTERDAY.  I LOOK FORWARD TO IT.

TODAY IS MY DAY OF REST AND THE ONLY THING I WILL BE DOING IS MAKING SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS WITH MEAT SAUCE.  ITS A FAVORITE.  MADE STEAK IN BROWN BUTTER GRAVY WITH MASHED POTATOES LAST NITE.  MMMM GOOD.  I LOVE MY SIRLOIN STEAKS.

TV IS CALLING ME.  I HAVE SHOWS I'VE RECORDED AND STILL NEED TO CATCH UP ALONG WITH A GOOD MYSTERY BESIDE ME.  THAT WILL BE A NICE AFTERNOON FOR ME.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL MY DEAR, DEAR FRIENDS.  HUGS, QB S

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Anyone here have a Janome Platinum Gem 760? It’s an older machine that I bought some years ago for retreats and have rarely used it. Now with a retreat coming up I’m thinking of taking it as My favorite Pfaff has been fussy lately. If you do, does it do fancy stitches besides zig zag? I could look in the manual but I can’t reach it?

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Janet, I had a gem that I used for classes, but I gave it to Julianna when she wanted to start sewing. You should be able to find the manual online.

We met our cookie swap friends at 3 at Olive Garden, had a lovely meal and visited.

It’s supposed to be 57 tomorrow, then 31 on Tuesday! Yikes!

I told Steph she’s a bad influence. She was telling me about the planners she got- one for journaling, one for travel, one for work, and I forget the 4th. I ordered one to track my crafting. I remember, her 4th was to track the books she reads. I already have a little notebook, volume 2, where I’ve tracked books since 1989.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Holly- I have the manual but it’s behind some tubs in one of my walk-in closets. I guess I was looking for a quick easy answer from someone here about decorative stitches.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

JANET I think if you just want to see the stitches the designs will be on the machine, from memory my old Janome had a slide out bit that showed the stitch and the number, if you need a manual yes as HOLLY  says  they would be available online,e, buy probably just as easy to get yours out, why not take the bigger Pfaff, I usually take mine to retreat, yes it's a lot heavier, but only need to set it up one LOL

SANDRA sounds like a good time to catch up on TV, I have been catching up on reading, and still dong the jigsaw puzzle, I do love doing them, keeps my mind active, but not so good sitting around LOL We have also had the coolest days on December for a while, but we also had the hottest. It's cool again tonight have my dressing gown on to keep warm.

HOLLY I doubt I would ever keep a journal, I have lots of my books on Kindle, and the library has an app, so I can check books there. I'm too lazy to keep a journal, my 'to do' list for sewing is so long I don't want to write it down, I will get moving on finishing this year.

I have been moderately busy today, got some housework done, yoga and puzzle. Nothing exciting, we had take away tonight, fish & chips for them, and I had the seafood salad, they do a fabulous one at our new local.

I want to read a bit before bed, I got my newest book on Christmas Eve and now I need to re-read it, read it so fast the first time I need to REALLY read it this time. Not just fast read.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Trish- I love my older Pfaff but recently it was acting up (tension). I don’t have time to bring it in and I don’t have much faith in the local machine service around here. I usually bring the Janome as a backup machine but have never needed it. 🤷‍♀️. Between my foot/ankle and shoulder anything feels heavy! DH said he will get into the closet today. I don’t know why I took out the manual?

STUDENTS' FRACTURED ENGLISH......
1.  WHEN THERE ARE NO FRESH VEGETABLES, YOU CAN ALWAYS GET CANNED.
2.  IT IS BAD MANNERS TO BREAK YOUR BREAD AND ROLL IN YOUR SOUP.

WE ARE SUPPOSED TO GET SNOW BUT THE TEMPS ROSE SO WE ARE GETTING ICY RAIN.  AS THE TEMPS RISE TO THE MID 30S, THAT ICY RAIN IS JUST TURNING TO GOOD OLD RAIN.

WE ARE COUNTING DOWN TO THE WIRE AND A NEW YEAR WILL BEGIN.  BOY, TIME FLIES EVER SO FAST THE OLDER I GET.

I MADE SHELLS WITH MEAT SAUCE AND MEATBALLS LAST NITE AND THEY WERE GOOD.  ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MEALS.  I THINK I WILL MAKE A SMALL MEATBALL SUB FOR MY BRUNCH TODAY.
I FINISHED UP THE REST OF THE WALNUT CLUSTERS LAST NITE WHICH IS A GOOD THING.  I STEPPED ON THE SCALE THIS MORNING AND EVEN AFTER SCUBBING OFF THE OLD SKIN, AND REMOVING THE LINT IN MY BELLY BUTTON, I GAINED BACK 3 LBS THIS WEEK.  I WAS SOOO BADDDD.
NOW I WILL START BEING GOOD AGAIN WITH SMALLER PORTIONS AND LIMITED SNACKING IN THE EVENINGS.  TO TELL THE TRUTH, I REALLY WANT TO MAKE MYSELF A BATCH OF WALNUT OR CASHEW CLUSTERS, BUT I WON'T.  THEY ARE MY DOWNFALL WHEN IT COMES TO LOSING WEIGHT.
NOTHING SPECIAL HAPPENING HERE LADIES.  I HOPE YOU ARE ALL HAVING A GOOD DAY.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

It’s 53 and raining here, tomorrow the high will be 31! So we did our errands today, bank and library.

Today is Heather’s 51st birthday, yikes! I gave her her birthday money on Xmas, so she could shop the sales.

Trish, I keep my planner beside where I sit, and after dinner every night I update the temps, for Boone’s temp snake, and write what errands we did and what we had for dinner. I’ll keep the new one in the same place.

I got back on the treadmill today, I’d slacked off around Christmas. I’ve been up and down the same 2 pounds for a month.

Dinner tonight is Olive Garden leftovers.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

I've kept a journal/planner off and on for many years.  Get tired of it but looking back makes it seems more like I lived my life and it didn't just disappear.  Mom faithfully kept them for years and from time to time, ML will read what she did  years ago, on the current date and then often  calls me up and reads it to me.   It's comforts her as she still misses Mom so much.  And, it encourages her to stay the course for the boring parts of daily life.  Mom was a very neat housekeeper, (so is ML) and faithfully kept up.  She was NOT a reader, my downfall.  Mom's journals, while not written in a comical way, often make us laugh because they're so "her".

I'm looking for a daily textile/sewing practice like I did in 2023 and 2024.  Skipped 2025 as I was sick and tired of that. But, I like, that it marks the days and tells a bit how they unfold one by one.  So far, I haven't come up with any idea that's fairly short and done with fairly quickly each day.

Howard was going to town for things he/we can do tomorrow.  I blandly suggested that if he waited til then, I would go with him.  Of course, he never answered that or said anything, but he didn't go, so...    Being a cheapskate, I hate unnecessary trips, but then there's the "him getting out of my hair"!

Haven't gotten on the scale, myself, yet.  Clothes feel the same and I haven't had an overly-active appetite this season.  We have a temperamental scale and I swear when he weighs himself first (which he always does), then my weight is inaccurate.  I'm sticking to that!

Happy birthday to Heather, Holly.  She's done so well--I know she's the best labor and delivery nurse in her hospital.  Hope she has a nice birthday and gets what she wants with her money.

It's chicken drumsticks for supper, tonight.  What exactly I'll do with them, I'm not sure, yet.
We're not doing anything for NYE.  Never do.  Just glad all the hubbub is over.  We're getting snow and wind today.  For the ones who crave a white Christmas, we had that 'before' and now, looks like 'after'!  We haven't contacted our neighbors yet.  Must do that in the next couple of days.  And yes, Devonne, they have 6 boys 13 or so  and down and 1 baby girl, thus two cans of popcorn for their gift.   At least it will keep.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

It is cold, snowing and VERY windy today.  The temps went form 60 to 25 overnight with the strong wind.  I felt like my windows were getting blown out at 3 a.m. this morning!  But miracles do happen as we did not lose power!!  Many around us did.

It was a lazy day (another one) for me.  I did a load of laundry, put some Christmas boxes and bags away, played on my phone and read on my tablet.  I did manage to watch a game show or two on TV.  I did fix a supper for us, just fried potatoes, eggs and left over Christmas ham.  Now I am on the computer.

Sandra, Dean just said the same thing about time passing faster as we age.  It is so true.

I think I am going to work on making blocks for a while.  I, too, am tired of making scrap quilts for donations.  I have a couple of books with some interesting blocks and will give them a try.

Holly, Happy Birthday to Heather.

I kept a journal years ago.  I am not a stick with it kind of girl, and I got bored easily, so I did not do it for long.  I was a stay at home mom with two kids and it did help me with my mental health back then.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Happy birthday to Heather. Seems like quit a few have Dec/Jan birthdays.

SANDRA yum, I need to make a batch of meatballs, I can send lots to John, he loves them

STRINGS it was THERESA who had the fall, I have been lucky lately, no falls!!

CHERYL the aftermath of Christmas is not so good, I really hate taking everything down, I will leave it till maybe end of next week, depends on the weather, if we have some hot days I may as well do it then while I'mm in the A/C I have a new storage box for the tree, I do hope it work otherwise no idea what to do, we tossed the old box

INDY we had leftovers - again - won't get away with it tomorrow night, it's New Years Eve, so might do something special LOL

I had another lazy day, went to training this morning, washing, ironing, and then more jigsaw, the Mr was whining about the TV, I have always hated it, and he decided he doesn't like it either, so late today we went off and ordered a new one. I made him do the research LOL It took him quite a while we talked about it at lunch time, and didn't go to the store till almost 5pm

Too funny, he decided on one, I said NO ridiculous price, and too big, he wants bigger, I stood firm, so we got the dearer model of the size I wanted - compromise LOL
They will deliver for - drum roll $13

I asked was that a mistake, nope that's how much, too much effort for us to wrangle the thing into one of our cars, so deliver it is

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

The sun is trying to fool me today. It looks like a warm Spring day, but it's only 27. Gracie decided not to stay outside very long. I'll wait until Friday when it's 67 to take my returns to the UPS store.

I took the Christmas wreath off the front door. That's the only decoration I have taken down. Not too many to do, but no hurry.

Yesterday I had a followup dr. visit. I left early so I could go shopping beforehand. I get a call they need to change my appt. to today. I was already in Carrollton. I was going to cancel, but will go since I've met my deductible for the year. It's only a 20 minute drive.

I was so surprised when I got on the scale Monday and had lost .6 lb. I was sure it was a 3 lb. gain. I think it will catch up with me next week. My downfall was the peanut butter fudge. I cheated and had McD's on the way home yesterday. If it helps me any, I didn't eat the top part of the bun.

Greg has the most beautiful Christmas tree. His lights change colors or he can make it stay one color. It makes me want to get a bigger tree, but I doubt I will.

Linda, take your time. No hurry to get your decorations down, enjoy them! I normally put decorations up after Thanksgiving and leave them up until the 1st.

I have a big grocery order coming at 5:00 from Walmart. I need to organize my fridge before it gets here.

Greg and I were both surprised Carter didn't want the Ipad Greg got for him for Christmas. He said he rather use his phone to play games. I like his honesty so Greg returned it and saved $380.

Trish, good idea to have it delivered! I am trying not to buy anything else that has to be put together. I do have a ladder shelf still in the box, but it will wait until the flooring is installed.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

Trish- that’s why we have everything delivered.

Here’s one… you just have to shake your head… we all have had issues with the mail, right?   Well here’s my latest.  I ordered something from Etsy last Friday.  The shop is in Rochester, NY.  The owner seemed very efficient and genuinely nice.  She put it in the mail the same day.  I started tracking it as soon as I got the tracking number.  It left Rochester and arrived in Schenectady, NY clear across the state.  It sat there all day and then went to Amherst, MA .  The next day it went to Indianapolis?  (Remember I’m in VA).  Today it’s on its way to Kentucky!  🤪🙄. Good thing I’m not in a rush for the item.   I just hope I get it.  It will be well traveled.  Good thing I’m a patient person (not really)

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is such a foggy morning, can barely see the houses across the street!  And so still!!  I'm sure it will brighten up as the day progresses.  I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well.  Have a happy day, BJ.

Re: 28 SUNDAY 28 DEC 2025 ~ SAT JAN 3 2026

SIGNS OF THE TIMES......
1.  AT RESTAURANT GAS STATIONS THROUGHOUT THE NATION:  EAT HERE AND GET GAS.
2.  AT A SANTA FE GAS STATION:  WE WILL SELL GASOLINE TO ANYONE IN A GLASS CONTAINER.

ITS ANOTHER COLD ONE.  REALLY BITTER IN THE TEENS TOAY.  BUT SUNNY.  AS LONG AS I SEE SUNSHINE I CAN SMILE.

JANET.....SOMETIMES I CHECK ON MY PACKAGES AND THEY ALL SEEM TO TAKE A LONG ROUTE TO GET TO ME.  SOMEHOW IT ALL WORKS OUT SO THEY MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT.  WE GET OUR PACKAGES.

AS TO JOURNALS, I KEEP ONE DAILY.  IN IT I HAVE THE DATE, THE MEALS I EAT AND THE MEALS I PLAN, THE EXERCISES OR LAPS I DO, WHAT I DEFROST FROM THE FRIDGE, MY CHORES I WANT TO DO AND THEN CHECK OFF THE ONES I ACTUALLY MANAGE THAT DAY, MY APPTS WHEN THEY COME DUE, WHEN I SEND SOMETHING OFF TO SOMEONE, WHEN I ORDER ONLINE AND WHEN I RECEIVE THE ITEM, SNACKS I EAT AND MY VITALS, LIKE PB READINGS, WEATHER EXPECTED, WEIGHT, AND EVEN MY NATURE CALL THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SO I CAN KEEP TRACK AND KNOW IF AND WHEN I NEED TO EAT A PARTICULAR FOOD TO KEEP IT ACTIVE.  ALSO MY BANK AND VISA BALANCE DAY TO DAY.  I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR A FEW YEARS NOW.  IT KEEPS THINGS AT MY FINGER TIPS.  WORKS FOR ME.

I DID MY LAPS AND THEN WENT TO THE COMMON ROOM TO WORK MY JIGSAW PUZZLE.  I FOUND THAT SOMEONE HAD PUT IN AN EXTRA PIECE WHICH MADE THE PUZZLE AKIMBO.  I STRAIGHTENED IT OUT AND A WHOLE SECTION FELL RIGHT INTO PLACE.  I 'VE DONE THAT MYSELF BEFORE, PUT IN THE WRONG BIT.  IT CAN CAUSE HAVOC.  NOW ITS IN GOOD ORDER.  NOT FINISHED, BUT SHOULD BE EASIER TO DO THE REST FOR THOSE OF US THAT WORK ON IT.

THAT'S IT FROM ME.  I DEFROSTED SOME CHICKEN BREAST YESTERDAY BUT STILL HAVE ENOUGH MEATBALLS TO HAVE A MEATBALLSUB FOR LUNCH AND THEN SOME CHICKEN AND SOME LEFTOVER MASHED FOR SUPPER.

STAY WARM.  ENJOY YOUR DAY.  HUGS TO YOU ALL, QB S
