Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

STOP THE PRESSES!
1.  COLUMBIA, TENNESSEE, WHICH CALLS ITSELF THE LARGEST OUTDOOR MULE MARKET IN THE WORLD, HELD A MULE PARADE YESTERDAY HEADED BY THE GOVERNOR.
2.  A WHIMSICAL NUMBER TITLED "LONDON DERRIERE" WAS PLAYED BY STEIN AS HIS SALUTE TO ST. PATRICK'S DAY.

LOOKS LIKE RAIN FOR US TODAY.  DID NOT GET ANY YESTERDAY.

SORRY FOR THE MESS UP.  I HAD CHERYL'S BIRTHDAY CORRECT IN MY DATE BOOK BUT WHEN I TRANSFERRED THE DATES TO MY WALL CALENDAR, I POSTED IT IN THE WRONG ONE.  YIKES.  I GUESS IT HAPPENS TO THE BEST OF US.
YESTERDAY MY SON SHOPPED AND GOT ALL I NEEDED FOR MY COOKING FOR XMAS.  HE HAD 2 SERVINGS OF MY VEGGIE BEEF SOUP AND TOOK HOME ITALIAN SANDWICHES (SUBS) AND A LARGE CONTAINER OF SOUP.  HE STILL HAS HIS MIL STAYING WITH HIM FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS BUT HE SAYS SHE IS GOING TO BE DOING THE COOKING SINCE HE AND HIS WIFE WORK.  THE REST OF THE FAMILY WENT BACK HOME UP NORTH.  SHE HAD A MINOR SURGERY TAKEN CARE OF AND IS DOING WELL AND HEALING WELL.
MY BROKEN-HIP NEIGHBOR TONY NEXT DOOR CAME HOME YESTERDAY.  I BROUGHT HIM A CONTAINER OF VEGGIE BEEF SOUP SINCE I HAD A BIT LEFT.  HE SAID HE HAD PLANNED TO HAVE A PIECE OF PIE FOR SUPPER SO HE WAS GRATEFUL FOR THE REAL MEAL.  I WILL TRY TO BRING A MEAL TO HIM NOW AND THEN FOR AWHILE.  HE IS DOING WELL.  HE IS A GREAT ITALIAN COOK HIMSELF SO I KNOW HE WILL BE COOKING AS HE CAN MANAGE.

ITS MY DAY OF REST BUT I STILL NEED TO DO MY LAPS.  I PLAN TO TAKE A LIP READING COURSE ONLINE STARTING TOMORROW.  MY SON SAID HE THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE DONE IT ALREADY SINCE I AM ONE TO 'BE PREPARED' FOR ALL EVENTUALLITIES BUT I GUESS I WAS HOPING FOR MY HEARING TO LAST MUCH LONGER.  I CAN STILL HEAR A BIT BUT NOT WELL.  THE LIP READING WILL HELP A LOT.

TODAY I WILL EITHER MAKE MEATLOAF AND TATERS OR CHILI.  THE CHILI WILL BE EASIER.  I WILL SEE HOW I FEEL LATER IN THE DAY BEFORE I MAKE THAT DECISION.
STAY SAFE MY LADIES  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Cold and rainy..33* surprised it’s not icy.
Do you ever get tired of someone asking your opinion and then doing something different?  I’ve about had it with that here.  In fact, I’ve about had it with a lot of things.
I’m beginning to understand how people can find the holidays to be depressing.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

It's a rainy day in Georgia...a good movie day!

Janet, Greg had a friend who did that to him all the time, but never listened to him. They are no longer friends, lol.

I am having a rare second cup of coffee, trying Nutpods Marshmallow. I can't taste any marshmallow flavor, lol. I'm more cold natured this year than I've ever been before!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

I cut and pressed more fabric for Xmas pillowcases, til my knees had enough of standing. It’s rainy out, and people are still outside leaf blowing. Our street is due to have leaves picked up this week.

Janet, to amuse yourself, maybe give the opposite opinion of how you feel?

Devonne, I read that feeling cold all the time is a sign of losing weight.

Nothing else of excitement going on here.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Hello, from snowy Northern Indiana.  No Cheryl, the kids WERE planning to go to Andrew's apt. on Sat., but changed to Friday to get ahead of the snow which, as predicted, didn't come until yesterday (Sat.)  But, we've got it now!  about 8 inches, I'm guessing, so less than predicted.  There was no newspaper in the paper box and, actually, no box!  A snow plow knocked it off it's base.  Has happened many times before.  My "handyman" put it back on...

Howard made one pass with the plow but it's acting up so his day, today, will consist of fiddling with re-drawing the schematic he did before and then doing whatever one does to fix the remote.  All Greek to me...

Janet,  Holly had a good suggestion, if you can pull it off.  Sometimes one has to "fight fire with fire".   Simply answering, "whatever you want" doesn't seem to work.

When I was younger and working like a slave for the holidays, I couldn't wait til they were over,  so now with much less to do, including decorating, I'm more content.  If I told you all some of the conversations at the dinner table on Thursday, you'd think I made them up.  Not so...they were genuine and ML and I had a few good laughs when discussing them, yesterday.  At least we weren't wringing our hands and crying...

I'm trying cooking a whole butternut squash in the crockpot, per the internet.  They're so hard to peel and cut up that I hope this works.  That and a crockpot chuck roast will be supper.

Howard  came home from W-M with a bottle of steakhouse seasoning, yesterday.  He has no idea where it came from and it wasn't listed on the receipt so he didn't pay for it?????   I wondered when I came across it.  Would not be anything he'd pick up seriously or on a lark.
He got everything else correctly, though.  Everyday's a holiday around here!!   We had a good friend whose wife was lovely but ditzy and that was his repeated line.

Closing this to start that roast... Have a good Sunday and many blessings to all of you...
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Judy, a few years ago our Thanksgiving convo somehow got on Finland and where it was. Julie went and got her globe- I have pix to prove it! No idea how we started talking about Finland. So table conversations can be interesting. This year we were discussing nursing and teaching, since we had 3 nurses and one student nurse, and one future teacher. And unions.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Family dinners can certainly be interesting. Growing up there was a kids table. You sat there until you were 13 and then moved up. The adults had unspoken rules about what could be discussed at during dinner…no business, no politics, etc.
The dessert table, always a buffet, was an any topic goes as long as it was PG13.
These past years has only been the 2 of us. Rules not needed. We always eat dinner watching TV. Usually a movie we’ve taped.
Freezing here again today. I think it’s the end of the deep freeze after today.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Judy, I can close my eyes and imagine how pretty the snow is, but I wouldn't want it to stay around for very long.

Gracie got me up at 6, 7 and again at 9 am. I don't know what was up with that unless she had an upset stomach. I didn't give her any table food to cause it.

Holly, that's interesting about being cold. Gary said I was cooking him in my vehicle, lol. He's really hot natured.

I grew up always having a large crowd at the holiday table, a lot of good times and memories. My Mom had the aluminum tree with the rotating light. Y'all remember that? I really miss my family, especially all of my sisters. Eula, my oldest sister, always bought a gag gift every Christmas for Dad. One year she wrapped up pigs' feet. Real pigs feet...I always wondered where she got those, lol.

More rain coming in later this evening and tomorrow.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

MANGLED MODIFIERS......
1.  THE JUDGE SENTENCED THE KILLER TO DIE IN THE ELECTRIC CHAIR FOR THE SECOND TIME.
2.  FARMHAND JOE MOBBS HOISTS A COW INJURED WHILE GIVING BIRTH TO ITS FEET.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TODAY, 3 TO 5 INCHES.  OUR FIRST STORM OF THE SEASON.
HEY, ITS MONDAY THE START OF ANOTHER WEEK AND ANOTHER MONTH.  DECEMBER 1ST.  MY, HOW TIME FLIES.
I DID A FEW CHORES BUT STILL HAVE TO DO MY LAPS.  ALL MY MEATS ARE BAGGED AND IN THE FREEZER WHICH I SHOULD HAVE DONE YESTERDAY BUT DIDN'T.
I MADE CHILI LAST NITE INSTEAD OF THE MEATLOAF.  MUCH SIMPLER TO COOK.  IT WAS FINE.
TODAY WILL MEAN LEFTOVERS TO FINISH UP.  I HAVE THAT TURKEY BREAST DEFROSTING IN MY FRIDGE AND IT SHOULD BUT GOOD TO ROAST TOMORROW.  SOMETIME THIS WEEK I WILL COOK IT.
I WILL MAKE SURE I HAVE ALL MY BATTERY LANTERNS AT THE READY AND SOME FOOD ON HAND THAT DOES NOT NEED HEATING IN CASE OF POWER OUTAGE.  WE ALWAYS GET HIT WITH THAT.
OH, BY THE WAY, MY EAR IS DOING BETTER.  I HAVE BEEN FLUSHING IT WITH WARM WATER AND TODAY I WAS AMAZED THAT I CAN HEAR AS I DID BEFORE THE EARACHE TIME.  I GUESS IT WAS SOMETHING IN THE EAR BLOCKING THE SOUNDWAVES.  ANYWAY, I WILL STILL LEARN LIP READING ONLINE.  LIKE MY SON SAID TO ME, MOM, I THOUGHT YOU WOULD HAVE DONE THAT BY NOW SINCE YOU ARE ALWAYS PREPARED AHEAD OF TIME.  WELL, NOW I SHALL.
ITS STILL SUNNY OUT AND IN THE HIGH 30S.  IT WAS REALLY COLD LAST NITE.  THERE WAS BLACK ICE ON THE ROADS THIS MORNING AND THE PATHWAYS.  I DID NOT TAKE OUT MY TRASH TIL THEY SANDED THE PATH.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Good Morning, I just love reading all the posts; they are so interesting!!  It is so still outside, not a leaf is moving.  It is hard to believe it is December!!

Well, I can't think of a thing to say, so will sign off, wishing you all a wonderful December, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

It’s sunny and 44. Ralph is outside puttering. The leaf truck just came thru and collected the piles of leaves, which is good because some of the piles really stuck out onto the street.

I made a bowl of the last of the leftovers, turkey, mashed, corn and gravy for lunch.

I sewed the bands onto 11 pieces of fabric, now I just have to sew the sides and bottom seams and they will be pillowcases! I have a couple more to get set to sew. It has not made a dent in my Christmas fabric.

We’re supposed to get a dusting of snow around dawn, then change to rain.

Since Optum closed all =26pxits south jersey offices, we had to find new docs. We used to take mom to a gerontology office right next to the closest hospital, about 6 miles away, so we called this morning and set up appointments for the 12th. I wanted an NP, but they don’t have any, so we both got the same female doc. Generally I’ve found females are better at listening, so we’ll see.

I’ve had either a head cold or allergies for a week now, so annoying.

Happy December to all.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Afternoon y'all!

We had a great Thanksgiving.  Started taking down Thanksgiving and putting up Christmas!  I'm still putting out Snoopy stuff, I know y'all are shocked!  We've decided to put all of Luke's Legos  in Ziplock bags.  I found 2 gallon ones for the bigger ones, and put them in bins.  They are everywhere, and I get tired of dusting all those nooks and crannies.  I'm done, old and cranky! LOL!

Won't know for a bit if Luke can come home for Christmas.  They are so short staffed.

I made 4 kitchen scarfs this weekend.  Bought the pattern from the Quilted Cow.  They are sew easy!  I will get 2 of them in the mail this week, to my nieces by marriage!  The boys don't get anything but gift cards anyways! Plus the girls get a gift card too!

I made Turkey tortilla soup on Saturday, Alex came home after we went to church on Saturday just to eat it.  I thought it was a great way to use up Turkey!  It was!

Simba keeps improving on his reactions to other dogs.  There's one we are struggling with, Boxy, he's a boxer.  He is the aggressor and Simba gets his dander up.  He did great this morning, when we saw Boxy.  He whined, but did not react other than his dander being up.  My shoulders are still intact, Simba is strong!

I have some Cyber Monday shopping to do!

That's all from my little corner of the world!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Good evening!

We used up most of the Thanksgiving left overs.  I made turkey vegetable soup and froze it.  I did throw out a few yams and a handful of stuffing. I also threw out one piece of berry pie that did not get eaten.  Everything else was gone.

Today I showed Amelia how to make meatballs.  I told her the less handled the beef was the better the meatballs, but she wanted to keep mixing and squeezing the mixture.   Then she would say..."Ew, this feels like brains!"    But they did turn out pretty good even with all that mixing.   I used a store bought garlic bread and used the last of the salad from Thanksgiving.  It was a good dinner after all that turkey.

I did a little Cyber shopping.  I still need to do some, but both Gabriel and Amelia are here right now, so I have to wait till they go home.  Aaron and Dean are at Planet Fitness working out.

Theresa, thank you for the Christmas news letter and pics!!  Simba is a cutie!  I can't remember, did you adopt him?

Holly, I agree with you on the female docs listening.  However, my NP seems like she wants to prescribe a new drug every time I see her!  The doctor does not as he is an Osteopathic one and that is why I went to him in the first place.  I rarely see him, I have to request it and I usually just need my meds refilled every 90 days, so  I see her.

It is cold and rainy today and we are supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow over night.  It usually does not happen, but we shall see.  Right now, we have none.

Theresa are kitchen scarves the same thing as table runners?

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

HOLLY you beat me to it  What are kitchen scarves THERESA??

THERESA I got your card in the mail today, THANK YOU, my son came out to see, he loves seeing your faces each year as do I !

DEVONNE I think the snow would look pretty too, we had some in our (way down )south yesterday - crazy weather, and the end of the week it will be in the 100s for about 4 days YUK!!

SANDRA sounds like you had a plan, and you got all the cooking done you needed, just don't wear yourself out. I am so glad the ear is better, maybe  you have  a wax build up as well, you can get drops to help with that. I would imagine you can get them online, we have to get his sis's ears seen to all the time.

We also have some fun family conversations, especially when the kids were little, I banned devices for dinner long ago, and we talk. They are used it that now. Nana is a cranky old lady sometimes LOL - it was actually  more for Megan & Gary, pity I can't make the Mr keep his off the table these day when it's just us.

It's been a beautiful day here today, went to training, had my hair cut and coloured, then worked on my jigsaw for a bit, I wanted to get the saucepan/casserole dish cupboard cleaned out tomorrow, my new containers will be here as well, so I might have to put that off. I do need to pretty up my jars of jam and chutney, I will also need to get cards written for the girls.

I heard some sad news today, one of the girls (I have know her since I started) her husband died last night, we knew it was coming, he had a brain tumour, was only given till June this year, but he survived at home till the weekend and went to hospice, he was only 53, she is a gorgeous human being, they travelled with their kids for a really long holiday overseas a few years back, making memories. I am trying to figure out what to do, I know she had a delivery of dinners made a while back from friends, so might do that.

Nothing else to report, the Mr saw his sis, she is  being difficult, won't eat what they give her, has barely anything for lunch and dinner and surviving on a drink they purchase for her, and she's holding out for sweet biscuits she is not allowed to have, she is pretty stubborn, but won't win this one LOL
