Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

It's snowing, it's snowing, the old man is snoring...Well, not really, but he was!  Had to look that oldtimer up as I couldn't remember the last word, "snoring".  Tiny light flakes but  tons of them coming down.  And the plow is still not functional.   All those days he sat and watched TV and slept have caught up with him...  I'm not being mean, it's just a fact.  (I do my share of procrastinating, too!)

Howard went to town on his own this morning for a snow shovel, (where is ours?) and for batteries for the plow remote controller,  then to W-M for Rxes and potatoes of all things, and half and half.  So, we should be good.

Cheryl, a most happy belated birthday.  I guess your b.d. is often overshadowed by Thanksgiving.  I admit I rely on QB's prompts for birthdays and ann'ys since she often looks after the rest of us for those.  Hope you got to do one special thing for yourself.

Yes, Trish, it's the recipe you mentioned.  And thanks for checking it over.

The kids went into Chicago  yesterday so they could see Andrew's apt. and take some furniture and put up some curtain rods, etc.  ML sent me some wonderful pics and videos that make it so I can "be" there, too.

QB, the soup should sit well for a recuperating person, too.  Nice the MIL/FIL are welcome in their very new home and, as always, you did your part.  Sorry about your hearing getting worse.  Even with CC on TV, lip reading is difficult. Nice that there is a class you can take from home to learn it.

I'd better send this.  Computer is starting to act up.  Have a good day...

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Happy Birthday Cheryl.
My father’s bday was Nov 27.  We just celebrated it on Thanksgiving…easier.
Regarding gifts…. We give the grands check, even though DDIL says it’s impersonal.  But she would never give me a list of what they wanted and if I picked something myself she would complain about it.  We don’t give gifts to DS or not so DDIL because they never thanked us or acknowledged them…even when it was cash…..there’s more to it but I won’t go there.  I send son in law Omaha  Steaks or DeLallo Italian basket and DD gets cash. Her bday is in January and gets cash for that too or gift cards.
I’ve decided not to attend the quilt guild  and Quilt Bees (I’m in 3) either.  I’m just not feeling it … my 2 friends are going to the guild party but may go to the bee parties.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Thanks for the birthday greetings!  It is actually today, so nobody was belated.   Judy, I, too, rely on Sandra for all the birthday info even though I have it written down in some notes.  My birthday was always around Thanksgiving and my younger brother's was December 29.  His was overshadowed by Christmas for sure.

I made the turkey vegetable soup today and it was delicious!  I put the first batch of turkey broth into containers and put them in the freezer.  After the second batch was done, I decided to not freeze it and to make soup today.  I still have a lot of dinner rolls from Thanksgiving and they go great with soup.  After all that heavy food, soup hit the spot today.

Judy, did you family encounter much snow in Chicago?  I saw on the news a snow prediction of 12 inches today, I think.

As for gifts, we stopped with nieces and nephews when they were out out high school.  Brothers and SIL and us never did exchange.  We did do a silly gift exchange one year where the second person could take the gift of the first person and so on.  Not a good ideas as some people got irritated if the gift they wanted as "stolen" from them.  We did not do that again.  I give my sons and DDILs cash and this year I am giving my grandkids cash along with a gift or two.  The gifts they want are usually computer game related and cost lots of $$.  Or Abby wanted a hoodie sweatshirt that costs $120!  For a sweatshirt!!    So, Christmas should be much easier on me this year.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHERYL so sorry I missed it, I will do better and not leave it all to SANDRA
I hope you had a great day, and wish a wonderful year to come (((HUGS))))

SANDRA I do thank you for all the birthday wishes through the year, and hope you will do so as long as you want to
BUT How about I also try to remember to post the birthdays/anniversaries on the weeks thread when I make new ones?? Then I can do my job LOL and not just start threads

Sounds like a great time had by all for the big day! Now on to Christmas LOL

SANDRA I do hope that Matt's in-laws are OK and he heals quickly, same for your neighbour, you are so good to get that made for them, even feeling not quite right, great idea to lean how to lip read, I think practicing on the TV with closed captions is a good place to start.

As for buying gifts, I do for the kids, and my sis and I usually give each something - the older ones, hers and mine we don't give to, just got ridiculous, and for my immediate lot, we give to the boys, and we decided some years back to have one gift for each of the adults --  sometimes Megan & I just buy them all, and then we figure out the cost of gifts and share the costs, we keep limit for the adults, I don't for the boys, my choice to buy them what I want LOL

I have been very productive today, cleaned out the pantry cupboards, and they look pretty good, but I also ordered new containers to store things, so they will mostly match, I have a mix now, mostly Lock'n'Lock, but some others, I really don't need more, but I am so sick of it messy, this way I can also put muesli bars into one instead of 1/2 full packets, and all the other things I want to look neat, I will spend some time with my label maker when they get here.

I also made my last batch of chutney, and it smells yum in the house.
When we were at sewing I found I needed some tearaway stabiliser for my appliqué blocks, so I also cut that up, and now I am ready to get going on them.

There is a giveaway at training, if you go to 4 sessions a week you get a sticker for each one, then if you have done 12sessions in 4 weeks there will be a lucky draw for $500. I usually go to 4 sessions a week anyway, so I may have a chance LOL

I should have posted this on next weeks, buy I'll bring that up and post there too!

(((hugs))) and prayers
