Good afternoon.
I finished sorting out clothes and straightening my closet. It looks much better and I know I will not wear any of those clothes again.
Judy, I do not like automatic withdrawal accounts for that exact reason. We switched trash pick up companies and I had a darn time getting the first one to stop taking my money. I finally did get a refund from them.
It is rainy and cold.
I despise these kinds of days. Rain is almost freezing, so brrr!! The gray skies bother me more and more each year it seems.
I traced a couple of the dog templates and will try to get a couple blocks made tonight with the template I got at the thrift store. It has 4 parts plus I would have to do some sort of eyes. I don't usually do buttons for eyes since the quilts are for kids, so will most likely do applique for them too. This will be another way to use up some of those scraps that I have in bins.
I am making some fish filets and French fried potatoes for supper tonight. We prefer the fries to be made with potatoes from home and all the grandkids prefer the frozen fries that come in a bag. Too funny.
Nothing else to say, so will close for now.

Around here DirectTV and Hughesnet require you to do auto pay either checking acct or credit card. I use CC. Our car loan required auto pay also
Offline
Janet, our last car loan required automatic withdrawal too. Dean opened a separate account for that so they could not access our main bank account. Our electric and gas now want automatic payments or they charge a small fee. Two dollars fifty cents for credit card and fifty cents if we use the checking account. We pay the fifty cents.

MANGLED MODIFIERS......
1. SHE DIED IN THE HOME IN WHICH SHE WAS BORN AT THE AGE OF 88.
2. A 30-YEAR-OLD ST. PETERSBURG MAN WAS FOUND MURDERED BY HIS PARENTS IN HIS HOME LATE SATURDAY.
SUNNY AND BRITE BUT COLD. SAME TEMPS AS EARLIER REPORTED.
I WOKE WITH AN EARACHE IN MY GOOD EAR. NO FUN. I TOOK SOME TYLENOL. I HOPE I AM BETTER TO PLAY BINGO TONITE. THEN TOMORROW I HAVE TO DOGSIT IN THE AFTERNOON. CROSSING MY FINGERS I FEEL BETTER REALLY QUICK.
TARGET DELIVERED MY XMAS SUPPLIES ORDER TODAY. I THINK I HAVE ALL I NEED FOR ALL MY GOODIES SO MY SON DOES NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HUNTING FOR THEM NEXT WEEK. I JUST NEED MY NATHAN'S FRANKS AND CRESCENT ROLLS FOR THE PIGS IN A BLANKET FOR OUR TAPAS XMAS NITE (ALL FINGER FOODS).
I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE KEN BURNS SERIES TITLED "THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION" ON OUR PBS CHANNELS. VERY INTERESTING. I ALWAYS LIKED HISTORY. HE COVERS VERY DEEPLY AND INTO MANY LETTERS FROM SOLDIERS AND PEOPLE AND GENERALS OF THE TIME, FROM AMERICANS TO BRITISH. THERE ARE STILL A COUPLE MORE SHOWS TO COME THIS WEEK.
JANET......HAPPY ANNIVERSARY FRIEND. WISHING YOU A GOOD DAY WHATEVER YOU PLAN. ![]()
STAY SAFE EVERYONE. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Happy anniversary, Janet! ![]()
I decided to go ahead and pay my property taxes. They aren't due until 12/1, but now that large bill is paid, I can concentrate on a Christmas budget.
I'm looking at the Midea french doors air fryer for my Christmas present to me! Greg said to wait until Black Friday & it might be a better price. I like it because it's compact, holds a 12" pizza and my roasted veggies fit in the baking tray. It's also in my price range and stainless steel.
I asked Gary what are the Thanksgiving plans. I needed to go to the store, and he said "do nothing." Greg and I were surprised, as Gary loves turkey. I'm not a turkey fan, but Gracie would have loved the leftovers! ![]()
I'm meeting Greg and Carter at McAllisters for dinner. Leaving early so I can go to Ross for Less. That place is a hit and miss for me.
Feel so good today! It's great when you have no aches and pains. ![]()

I'm with y'all on the auto draft. So many companies demand it now! I like having the option! But to pay another way, just as efficient, they penalize you! We too have had issues in the past getting them to stop the auto draft. ![]()
Yesterday, I got more Christmas cards done. Finished the binding on the second placemat and almost finished a third. Got 1/2 of my OBW all sewn together to discover I messed up 2 blocks that look very similar. I'm leaving it. I would have to take apart too much to fix it! Not worth it! Today, I will do the other 1/2 and maybe join them together! Only time will tell. ![]()
Today, I have done my walk. Watched my video and downloaded the pattern. Started laundry. And now here! My plan this afternoon is more Christmas cards, sew on the OBW and get further on the binding for the placemats. I have 8 total, 4 need to be mailed, the other 4 I can just hand off to Alex. Sara already has hers! ![]()
Dreary here today! Was cloudy when I got up and as I was getting my shoes on the clouds opened up and poured. My poor neighbor must have been out walking "cousin dog" because I saw them running home. We call Harley "cousin dog" because it's the daughters dog that they watch from time to time. They have a dog already and the name just seemed to work. ![]()
Do any of you follow Pat Sloan on you-tube or Facebook? She posted a video this morning that her mom passed away. ![]()
Nothing really exciting happening. I'm loving that, at least right now! A long time friend of mine just joined the COF Facebook group! I'm excited she joined. She has been asking about retreats. ![]()
Nothing else new from my little corner of the world! ![]()

Home from Howard's Dr. appt., Dollar Tree and W-M. He had cryosurgery again on some skin lesions, I needed b.d. cards for ML and Aunt Betty who was 100 on Monday and we needed to pick up RXs and a few forgotten grocs. Then we had lunch at Culver's and as we walked in, so did my cousin, Bill, Aunt Betty's son. I asked him to eat with us and we had a very nice catch-up visit. Made my day...![]()
The a/w fiasco turned out to be that the bank was trying to get payment from a debit card number that was never ours and besides, we wouldn't use a debit for an a/w, anyway???
So, hopefully with the correct acct. and routeing numbers, it will work, now. And, like some of you, we've also had several issues with other accts. that insist on a/w or they charge a fee. The nerve of them! ![]()
Devonne, our early and only Christmas present to each other is our new king-size electric blanket. It IS nice and toasty and, OF COURSE, I've gotten over my long-term apprehension.
That's my explanation of it unlike Howard's who wonders why I have to have an occasion to get something rather than, we need it, we want it, so just buy it! Do you think Gary is going to surprise you with a Thanksgiving meal that they cook? Seems like you would have had some say in it, otherwise.
I'm going. We have our established insurance expert coming at 5 for a meeting. United Health Care is no longer offering us the advantage plan we've had for the past 2 years and we need advise and help. I need to clean off the dining table and spruce up the powder room, just in case...![]()

Busy day here, we both had eye doc appointments, so Heather drove us. I just needed visual fields, Ralph had an exam. Afterward, we went to Olive Garden for lunch. Then back here, and I loaded Heather up with frozen bagels that we won’t use. I’ve cut way back on breads, so they’ll use them. Found a bin of frozen berries hiding in the big freezer, so moved them to the kitchen freezer. I have berries with my cereal or yogurt every day. So I freed up a little freezer space anyway.
Happy Anniversary Janet! The years sure fly by!
It’s rainy and chilly and just raw out there, in the 40’s.
My utilities have the option of automatic withdrawals, but don’t require it. I pay the utilities with my credit card, so I get the points, then pay off the card every month from the checking account. Except for the water bill, who want a $7 “convenience fee”, that I go the mile to the office and give them a check.

53 years!! Thanks for the anniversary wishes. We will probably go out to dinner Friday evening.

Happy Anniversary JANET and your DH, hope you enjoy a lovely dinner on Friday!! When is Hanukkah this year?
INDY we did indeed do well, both with the oysters AND Pete LOL I am still dreaming of them!! I am catching up with Megan tonight, we have spoken a few times since I came home but not visited yet, work has been busy for her.
I hope that Matt and Daphne have an easy move SANDRA it will be so good for them to be in their own home! How is the neighbour with the broken hip?
HOLLY I did a clean out too, but so I can store stuff in the kitchen, I bought all the "bits" to make chutney, and I have already made the jam for the girls. I am feeling virtuous LOL
I made the chutney this afternoon, it seems to be ok.
CHERYL I am so sorry about the plantar fasciitis, it is hard to get rid of - W says that a small bottle filled with water and frozen to roll under his foot helped. I think rest seems to help more.
THERESA I bet you can't see where you have the 'mistake' block, you never can in the end LOL I still haven't done my cards either.
We don't have cheques at all in Aust - all our bills are either paid in cash at the post office, or credit card and direct debit. Makes it easy really. I do have quite a few of ours that are debited directly when the time comes, there is always an email or mailed bill to notify us what time it will be.
I did some shopping today, had to cancel my training, I had ordered groceries, but forgot that the street is being re-paved today, so had to move the car to a nearby street, then lug the groceries home, W came to help me carry them.
Then I went back to the car and drove to the mall, picked up a gift for Julie, and some more apples for my chutney, AND a new electric kettle, ours is old, and looks stained, time for it to go.
Found some books for Bridie AND a Bluey Advent Calendar, she will open them all at once but I don't care LOL And got some other Advent calendars for Jack & Ruari.
I still need to get Jack something for his birthday, haven't seen him though.
So at least I have started shopping!
I am sitting here sneezing, the wind has come up from the south after a hot day, and its getting cold!!
It's good to have the breeze though![]()

I got a huge Amazon order yesterday, but not Christmas shopping. They had had two different deals where you spent $35 on groceries, and they knocked off $10. So I got lots of soups, cereals, and some baking mixes. I also bought glass containers to store leftovers in that can be put in the microwave. We always take a bunch of Rubbermaid plastic containers when we eat out, so we can separate the leftovers however we want, but of course they don’t go in the microwave. And I got a cheese/vegetable grater. So, some heavy boxes.
I just put in another Amazon order, tee shirts for Ralph and for Ed, for Christmas. I have some picked out for Ben, also. Dan’s wishlist includes baking sheets- he’s the cook and baker.
I was talking to our friend Charley yesterday. He lives in Conyers, GA and he was telling me how much filming for TV and movies goes on around his way. His son is a freshman at Lee University in TN, and wants to be a sound engineer, so there should be work for him. Charley is now 12 years post liver transplant! He has a rare genetic condition that is specific to descendants of Vikings that destroys the liver, and he was unlucky enough to get the two recessive genes that caused it to be dominant.
It’s cloudy and 40’s here. We’ve got a bunch of diner and Olive Garden leftovers for dinner.

Good Morning to everyone!! It has been raining here overnight, very still. I really don't have a thing to say this morning. So will just sign off, wishing you all a wonderful day. BJ.

ANOTHER COLD AND SUNNY DAY.
SORRY I'M LATE. PUTER WOES. HAD TO FINALLY RESTART THE DARN THING. FINE NOW.
IF I AM LATE TOMORROW, ITS LINDA AND DARRELL'S ANNIVERSARY ON THE 21ST. DON'T FORGET THEM IF I DON'T MAKE IT.
I WON $6 AT BINGO LAST NITE WHICH WAS GOOD.
MY EARACHE IS MUCH BETTER TODAY. I FINALLY FLUSHED THE EAR WITH WARM WATER AND IT NEEDED IT. IT FELT SO MUCH BETTER RIGHT AWAY.
TODAY I DOG-SIT MY LITTLE OSCAR. I PLAN TO TAKE LOTS MORE PICS OF HIM SO I CAN SKETCH HIS EARS CORRECTLY. HE HAS THESE BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLY EARS AND THEY MAKE HIM LOOK SO DARN HANDSOME.
I HAVE NO SPECIAL PLANS. DID NOT GO TO CRAFT MORNING DUE TO THE EARACHE BUT GAVE ONE OF THE GALS SOME ROOSTER AND CHICKEN STUFF, ALL NEW, AND THE HANGING OVEN DOOR TOWELS WERE MADE BY ME. SHE WILL GIVE THEM TO HER DAUGHTER WHO HAS CHICKENS. SHE MADE HER A CHICKEN QUILT FOR HER ALREADY AND I GAVE HER A ROOSTER PILLOW BLOCK SO MAKE A THROW PILLOW. NOW SHE CAN ADD THE TOWELS. I HAVE NO NEED FOR THEM. I EVEN HAVE SEVERAL TO GIVE MY DAUGHTER NEXT TIME SHE COMES. OR MAYBE MY SON WOULD LIKE SOME FOR HIS NEW HOME. WE SHALL SEE. S
NO THERESA, I NEVER KNEW OR HEARD OF PAT SLOAN ON UTUBE. I ONLY HAVE A FEW FAVORITES I WATCH REGULARLY. I NEVER GO TO THOSE OTHER SITES LIKE FACEBOOK, ETC. I DON'T WANT TO WASTE MY TIME NOR DO I WANT ALL THE WORLD TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT ME.
THAT'S IT FROM ME TODAY. HUGS, QB S

Happy Anniversary, Janet and Jerry. I'm a day late but still wishing you the best. 53 years is a nice long time.
Today is ML's 64th birthday and she's come down with a cold. So, we canceled our plans to eat out at Olive Garden. And I'm going to stay away at least for today. Maybe tomorrow I can give her the book I already read! and her other present. ![]()
It's a rather dreary day here but not too cold and not raining. That's November for you.
Our insurance adviser came here last evening at 5 and UHC is not offering the plan we have now, next year, (it's available here only as an HMO), he helped up pick out the only thing that would work for us, a company called Devoted. He said he and all but one of his customers here have been quite satisfied with this company. New to Indiana but not elsewhere. We'll see...
Aetna, Humana, and Anthem have all left this state.
So, supper is leftover corned beef. BTW, Theresa, mine isn't so tough and stringy if I make sure to slice it across the grain. Otherwise..it could be.

Trish hubby doesn't see the mistake. Another reason to leave it alone! LOL! ![]()
Indy: Maybe that's what I am doing wrong!
Need to try it again! ![]()
I like Pat Sloan, I enjoy watching her show, on You Tube. She does a lot of Quilt alongs. Some you have to buy the book to do it, I just enjoy the inspiration, others are free patterns, I love the free ones! She has been through the same thing I have with her mom, but it was all this year. She did have her brother for support. ![]()
I did get the third placemat done. Started the 4th, but didn't finish. Had some 4 legged help! LOL! ![]()
I also did not get as far as I wanted on the OBW, I didn't want leftovers, I wanted a cooked meal, so had to stop to cook. I have 3 seams and it is all together, then I can decide borders, and start trimming. I already know how I want to quilt it! Clam shell, but upside down to look like dragon scales! Since the original print was dragons! ![]()
I did finish all the snails trail blocks I had cut out years ago. Once the OBW if off the "wall" I will put these up to see if it will be big enough or if I have to add something. ![]()
I need to find a new leader and ender for my projects. I will probably start some quilting next week, because it is supposed to get super cold. An artic blast is heading our way! ![]()
Today, I got my walk in, went to the PO for stamps, and to mail the out of country cards, that I had ready to go. Home and did more cards all the way up to some of the S's when I ran out of letters to put in. Next will be upstairs to sew. ![]()

I splattered bacon grease on a Calvin Klein pink sweatshirt I love. Would it come out better with baking soda or dawn dishwashing detergent? Any suggestions?
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, but Christmas has become the highlight in my area. Coming home from dinner last night, Christmas lights are already on the roofs and the huge blow up decorations are in yards. I normally put Christmas decorations up after Thanksgiving.
Judy, sorry about losing your insurance. Glad you had an agent that could help you with a new plan. I have stayed with original Medicare and an expensive supplemental plan because I've heard some scary stories about Medicare Advantage and a lot of hospitals aren't accepting them now. I can't see Medicare letting that happen, but it scares me too much to switch. Zero premiums sounds great and no monthly supplemental plan payments sounds enticing, but not enough to make me switch (yet, lol).
As for Gary surprising me with a Thanksgiving meal, I doubt that happening.
Theresa, I don't blame you for redoing it. I bet it's barely noticeable. If I can find a picture of the OBW I did, I'll post it. I did it with my ex-DIL and it was a lot of fun. She told me she never did finish hers.

Judy, several weeks ago John Oliver did a show about the advantage programs, you can probably find it on you tube.
I made two bowl cozies this afternoon, and started a scrap afghan last night.
Dinner was Olive Garden chicken gnocchi soup and salad.

Happy belated Anniversary, Janet. Fifty-three years is a milestone these days as many marriages do not make it that long. Next March will be 50 for Dean and me. He wants to have some sort of party, not me. I am a recluse and want no part of a party.
We looked at several different Medicare/Advantage plans but decided to stick with Aetna. The dental part of Aetna will change next year. but everything else was the same or just a tad more for special doctors, so I think staying is the best. All preventative dental is covered, but the restorative portion will be expensive. Just have to keep those cavities at bay, I guess.
I ordered some items from Amazon today. Amelia has a winter concert and she needs a longish black skirt and a white button down blouse by December 11. I checked at Kohls and Penney's but they did not have a black skirt in her size, so I had to order.. Says delivery will be Dec 2-9, so I hope it gets here in time. I hate ordering online, but today is was a must.
We are renting a carpet cleaner and cleaning the living room carpet tomorrow. Our carpet is 12 years old and starting to look a bit ragged, but I do not want to take it out just yet. I like the carpet under my feet in the cold winter.
