Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is only about 43* outside, but at least the sun is out, which is nice!!  There is no breeze at all, glad I'm staying in!!  I really don't have a thing to say, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

It was 30 this morning! And it’s windy.

Ralph went to Tim Horton’s for coffee with his brother, they go almost every week. Then we went to Texas Roadhouse and got his voucher for a free meal. From there to Applebee’s where he got a free meal, and a voucher for $5 off the next visit. The place was jumping, full of Veterans and families. There are other places offering free meals, but that was enough for us.

Mary Lou, how nice!

Manda just boarded her flight, luckily it wasn’t delayed or cancelled. It’s a looooong 6 hour flight.

Devonne, my sewing room also looks like a bomb went off, just haven’t gotten to cleaning up.

Trish, where are you cruising to?

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

MIXED METAPHORS......
1. DON'T SIT THERE LIKE A SORE THUMB.
2.  WHEN WE GET TO THE BRIDGE, WE'LL JUMP.

ITS GOING TO BE 40S ALL WEEK LONG AND 20S AT NITE.  ITS CALLED A COLD SNAP.

ITS COFFEE MORNING AND THEN CRIBBAGE AFTERNOON.  I DIDN'T GET TO COFFEE MORNING.  WAS WORKING ON CHOOSING FABRICS FOR THE FRIENDS SLEDDING PROJECT AND ALSO REDESIGNING AN OLD PATTERN OF MINE THAT I MADE FOR AN HGTV SWAP MANY YEARS AGO.  ITS "A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE."  I REALLY LOVED THAT WH AND WISHED I HAD KEPT IT BUT NOW I CAN MAKE IT IN REPLIQUE FOR MYSELF.  IT SEEMS I HAVE TOO MANY IDEAS AND NOT ENOUGH TIME TO DO THEM ALL.  I WILL JUST KEEP ON PLOWING THRU.

CHECK MY BLOG FOR LATEST PICS.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Afternoon y'all!

Thank you to all our Veterans!

QB: I have so many patterns and ideas, if I get half of them done I will be 200 yo!  LOL!

Trish enjoy your trip!

Holly I am avoiding all fast food and dine in places today, because I would rather the veterans get their items than me get them!  I can go tomorrow or the next day!

I did see snow flurries yesterday!  Still cold today!

I now have all the rows completed on my OBW!  I have 2 sets of rows sewn together!  I am even closer to done!  Trying to decide if I want a border! I'm thinking a eggplant purple maybe!  I will decide later!  Once this is off the design wall I will put up my Snails trail and decide if I need to make more blocks or what I want to do with it!

My plan after this is to finish quilting those quilts I have either started quilting or are tops awaiting quilting!  I plan on getting that pile down as much as I can!  I am overwhelmed in the quilt room!  Once that's done I will start finishing quilts that have been started.  It feels good to get this done!  I am keeping the OBW I have fallen in love with it now!  It's looking awesome!

Nothing else new from my little corner of the world!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Today is Gary's 57th birthday. I have a son that old?

Trish, have a wonderful trip! Which cruise ship?

Judy, I haven't seen a big snow since Gary was a baby and we went to Kentucky. I bet it's so pretty!

Theresa, can we see a picture of your OBW? Mine is not that big. It's not the colors I would have chosen now for a OBW, but at the time I was thinking big repeat pattern, lol!

Cheryl, I'm also on the same med, but I'm quitting it. There's a new study by JAMA that came out in 2022 that says it only helps people who have heart disease by 1%! Not worth the side effects for not much benefit. I think people who have already had heart surgery or a heart attack should take it. I'll talk to my doctor. I'm also going to ask her to reduce my Amlodipine from 10mg to 5mg. It also causes muscle tenderness. She won't do any of this until my next visit in Feb or Mar 2026. She probably doesn't want me to do either of these, lol.

I need to get on the ball and chose a Part D prescription plan. I read don't choose a plan until you know what each of your meds will cost you. I need to do more research.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Our insurance is dictated by my DH’s company. And it’s excellent and reasonably priced.
No snow! Just cold. 🥶
I have taken Lipitor (generic version) for about 25? Or more years with no side effects and no CQ10. I take 10mg a day. I tried stopping it but my number shot up.
None of my drs have suggested CQ 10. Only ones promoting it seem to be the tv commercials. I take only 2 meds and Vit D3, Biotin, and recently added Centrum mini vitamins.
I got my flu shot today. It’s the only vaccine I get.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Devonne, I also have a 57 year old child! You must have been a young mother because I think you are several years younger than me. I am 80, some days I really feel that old but most days feel younger even though my energy level isn’t very good.

There are two new quilt projects I am wanting to start but am trying to finish up some things I started a long time ago. One is a Christmas quilt with lots of hand appliqué. Two evenings of stitching should finish the applique. Then I need to find something for a border, don’t think I have anything that will work so will need to shop. I will have my friend quilt it on her longarm. This afternoon, I put the binding on an embroidered snowman wallhanging so it is done. Last week I bound a table runner with some of the Underground Railroad blocks. Also on my to-finish list are two kid donation quilt tops that I need to quilt and bind. It may be a while before I can start those two new quilts!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

I’d seen a lot of ads for COQ10, asked the cardiologist, and he said absolutely not, for me.

You are all so ambitious! Send me a cup of ambition!

Manda has been picked up at the airport by the car service so we’ll see her shortly!

I’m reading the brand new Donna Andrews, Five Golden Wings. Typical mayhem in Meg’s world, I love it!

Our insurance is set by the state, and it’s good, as is the Rx plan. So I don’t have to make any decisions, which is a relief.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Marylou, I just turned 76. I was 19 when Gary was born; 19 on Oct. 31 and he was born 11/11, so I had not been 19 very long, lol. Will you be going to visit family for the holidays?

Holly, the cardiologist I saw for the coronary calcium scan to see if I had heart disease didn't recommend taking the Q10. He prescribed Crestor 20 mg. and I haven't seen him since, lol. That was three years ago.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

to answer, we are just going to Hobart Tasmania and back, 5 nights, on Celebrity Edge, huge ship, and not really looking forward to it, I do love Cunard, they have tons of things to do during the day, this one doesn't seem to have much in the planner, and everything is on the App LOL so it will be interesting to see how the Mr likes it!!

I have pretty much everything organised now, just need to get everything in the bag. All my toiletries are ready, and the clothes - a few being refreshed are still drying - It's all the 'extra' stuff, charges, seasick pills cold/flu meds - just in case - and I'm taking Canasta cards, small puzzles and ordinary playing cards.

I just spent time ironing his shirts, they needed it after being in the closet squashed for a while, he rarely wears the business type shirts. And I need to steam a few of my outfits before I pack them, they are travel clothes and I usually just for them into a drawer till I need them, most just need hanging.

We are having chowder and fresh warm rolls for dinner, found the chowder in the freezer, so that's easy. I will pick up Dean today, and possibly John will get him early tomorrow, Pete will be working from home so hey can come here when the cleaners are at their house, John didn't want to come when no one was home, no idea why, think he just felt it would be odd. But he's happy to be here with Pete.

I am loving the warm, but not hot days, and the col nights, the weather lately here has been beautiful, got hot yesterday, but cooled off nicely in the evening.

SANDRA I think I remember you doing that Pear Tree!

Devonne we are getting old! Megan will be 49 next year - yikes!!

THERESA the one block wonder is very effective. I just found it hard to let the blocks form a colour wave type pattern, think it was the fabric I chose.

HOLLY I haven't read any of Donna Andrews, just couldn't get in to the first one I tried and sent it back unread.

MARYLOU I am taking some EPP to do when away, it hurts my hands ro do too much, but a little each day might get me further along on Alice quilt.

I just went to the store and picked up some sleep gummies, made by Swisse, they seem to help sleep, and 1/2 price this week, so I got 2. There are blackcurrant flavour, and you chew 2 before bed, I don't like gummy type sweets but I'm getting used to them.

Our meds are on a government list, as and part pensioners we get them cheap ( $7.20 each ) till we reach a certain amount - we reached it for out of pocket expenses last May - and then they are free till end of the year. Some are not on the list and we need to pay a little more. But if it's a big amount (more than $36) we can claim on  our insurance. Scripts for non pensioners are about $22 - $30 each.
so being able to claim a part government pension is a big bonus for us.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Trish, the first time I tried her first book, it didn’t do it for me. A few years later I tried again and got hooked.

Manda got here around 7. I made the mashed potatoes, stuffing, and I had the turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce, so we each constructed our own turkey bowls. I only had a small amount of each because I’m not used to eating that late, and it was so good!

Heather will be 51 next month. I got married at 19, and she was born when I was 21, almost 22. We wanted to have a house before we had a baby.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

SIGNS OF THE TIMES......
AND SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND IN AN OPEN FILED OTHERWISE UNTOUCHED BY HUMAN PRESENCE IS A SIGN THAT READS:  "DO NOT THROW STONES AT THIS SIGN."

ANOTHER COLD DAY AND TODAY IS CLOUDY.  WE GOT A BIT OF RAIN LAST NITE.  NOT COMPLAINING.  OUR DEAR FORESTS NEED THE WET STUFF.  ITS BEEN VERY LIMITED THIS YEAR.

TRISH......LIKE HOLLY, I TOO, HAVE READ A DONNA ANDREWS THAT DID NOT SIT WELL WITH ME BUT THEN THEY SEEMED TO GROW ON ME OR THEY GOT BETTER.  NOW I REALLY ENJOY MOST OF THEM.

I WORKED ON MY JIGSAW PUZZLE AND BEFORE I KNEW IT 2 HRS HAD PASSED.  I WILL LEAVE SOME TO DO FOR THE OTHERS.
BINGO TONITE.  I HOPE A GET TO WIN  SOME THIS WEEK.  LOST A BIT LAST TIME.
MY 13-LB TURKEY SHOULD BE THAWED OUT IN THE FRIDGE BY TOMORROW SO I WILL ROAST IT STUFFED AND MAKE SOME MASHED POTATOES AND GRAVY TO GO WITH IT.  ALREADY TALKED TO ONE NEIGHBOR NOT DOING TOO WELL AND SHE SAID SHE WOULD LOVE TO GET A TURKEY DINNER TOMORROW AT SUPPERTIME.  I WILL SEE WHO ELSE WOULD LIKE SOME.  I HAVE A FEW REGULARS I CAN COUNT ON TO ENJOY MY COOKING SO WILL PROBABLY SHARE WITH THEM AS WELL.

I WORKED ON ADDING A FEW FABRICS TO MY FRIENDS SLEDDING WH YESTERDAY.  NOT MUCH.  AND NOW WITH ME ALREADY WORN FROM PUZZLING, I THINK I WILL PASS TODAY.  ITS OK THO, SINCE ITS SO DARN CLOUDY AND I DON'T LIKE TO WORK IN THIS LIGHT FROM THE WINDOWS.  I HAVE LAMPS, BUT THE SUNLIGHT HELPS ME KEEP IN THE GROOVE SO WELL.
STILL WATCHING OUR FIREFIGHTERS FLUSH THE HOSES ON THEIR FIRE TRUCKS.  IT SEEMS WHEN ONE TOWN COMES ANOTHER COMES RIGHT ALONG BEHIND.  LOCAL AND THE TOWN OF GRAY TODAY.  A COUPLE OF YOUNG SPROUTS TO ENJOY.  BOY CANDY!!

WISHING YOU A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Afternoon y'all!

DS give me a bit to post it!  Took me a good while to figure out how to sew the bottom of block A to the top of block B.  I watched several you-tube videos, until one clicked!

Trish I joined a OBW group on Facebook.  They helped a bunch with block placement!

Luke is doing the medical insurance choice thing for the first time.  He rolls off ours next year!  He has some good plans, but he will have to go to Jackson for many of the doctors, especially dentists.  Many of the Vicksburg docs don't take any of the plans.  Kinda amazing since there are so many federal employees there!

Was cold this morning and has warmed up nicely.  Got my walk done and the car would not start.  2 days in a row the battery died on me.  I had a friend jump start me and I went home to let Simba out, grab my credit cards and a bite to eat for the trip to Advanced Auto.  They removed the old battery and installed the new one.  She cranked like a champ afterward.  I think I am no longer driving far enough to keep the battery charged.  Hubby disagrees!  Whatever, I did as he requested, so life is good!

I did see on my way to Advanced a new Tim Hortons!!!!!!  I had to stop by there on my way home and got a donut and coffee!  It was so good, and much cheaper than Starbucks!  I know where I am going for mid-week treats when I want/need one!

I do have my 15 bean Cajun soup started, which means the beans have been soaking all day!  In a bit I will brown the sausage, and get it actually cooking.  It's an easy meal, and great leftovers.  Might even make cornbread with it!

Nothing else exciting from my little corner of the world.

Later my Friends!

Theresa, try the Timbits. Like doughnut holes. Some are filled, some glazed, really good!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

I saw the "real" ortho doctor today, not the NP. Emily and Gary also use him. I really liked him. He told me my kneecap on my left knee is out of place and asked if I had a prior injury. The answer was yes, but no one has told me my kneecap is out of whack. I got cortisone shots, which I could feel, and he said it's because of too much inflammation. In two weeks, I'll get gel shots if Medicare approves them. PT is next to strengthen my knees. My left knee is severe (osteoarthritis) and my right knee is moderate.

I signed up for Wellcare Value Script for 2026 for my drug coverage. I hope I don't have to do this every year. At least, I can change next Oct. if I'm not happy with them.

We are also getting a new restaurant and I have to say, it's a big disappointment....a new Waffle House!  I guess they plan to close the old one.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Three days and night of 32-35*.  Then one day in low 70’s and Gardenia is again in full bloom this morning. 🤣. Silly plant.
DH left at 6:30 am to do the grocery shopping. lol.
Yesterday was a lazy day.  Didn’t get much done around the house but did make a lot of calls.  Amazing to me how many people in business, healthcare, etc just let everything go to voicemail! 😡 And if you’re lucky they call back.  I’m still waiting for some.  Bet if you owed money they’d take the call.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER

STUDENTS AND THIER FRACTURED ENGLISH....
1.  A VIRGIN FOREST IS A PLACE WHERE THE HAND OF MAN HAS NEVER SET FOOT.
2.  ALTHOUGH THE PATIENT HAD NEVER BEEN FATALLY ILL BEFORE, HE WOKE UP DEAD.

ITS COLD BUT SUNNY   ALL WEEK WILL BE 40S HIGHS AND 20-30S LOWS AT NITE.  WINTER IS AROUND THE CORNER.

I WON A WHOLE DOLLAR AT BINGO LAST NITE SO FOR ME ITS A GOOD THING.  ANY WIN IS GREAT.
AS FOR MY TURKEY, I MAY HAVE MENTIONED I WAS COOKING IT TODAY, BUT I MEANT ON FRIDAY.  IT SEEMS A WHOLE DAY GOT AWAY FROM ME SO THAT'S WHY MY REPORT WAS WRONG.  I TOLD MY NEIGHBOR TO CHANGE HER EXPECTANCY AND SHE WAS GLAD BECAUSE A CHURCH LADY WAS BRINGING HER SOME SUPPER TONITE.  SO IT ALL WORKS OUT.  I NEVER TOLD THE OTHERS.
AS FOR TONITE, I THINK SOME POTATO PANCAKES ARE IN ORDER.  I HAVE A CRAVING AND MY NEIGHBOR DOWN THE HALL LOVES THEM AND IS UNABLE TO COOK HOMEMADE FOODS.  ANOTHER WIN-WIN.

TODAY IS 'CRAFT MORNING.'  I AM BRINGING SOME MICROWAVE BOWL HOLDERS AND SOME SLEEP MASKS FOR 'SHOW N TELL' TODAY.  IN CASE ANYONE WANTS TO MAKE THEM FOR LITTLE GIFTS.
AS FOR MACHINE SEWING, I GOT AROUND TO A LITTLE.  I TACKED ON A FEW FABRICS TO MY 'FRIENDS SLEDDING' WH AND HAVE THE MOUSE NEARLY CLOTHED  THE BACKGROUND WILL BE A WHITE ON WHITE TO DENOTE SNOWCOVERED HILLS.

I DON'T KNOW IF CRAZY'BOUT/SANDY STILL SHOWS UP EVER, BUT ITS HER BIRTHDAY TODAY IF ANYONE WANTS TO WISH HER A SPECIAL DAY.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDY.

I WANT TO CLEAN OUT MY BATHROOM CLOSET THIS WEEK.  I DID THE FLOOR SECTION A MONTH AGO SO THAT'S ALL ORGANIZED, BUT I LEFT THE SHELVES.  ON THOSE I NOT ONLY HAVE TOWELS, BUT THINGS LIKE LITTLE DRAWER SETS FOR ODDS N ENDS.  THINGS LIKE EMERY BOARDS, HAIR ROLLERS, NAIL CLIPPERS AND THEN THERE'S KNEE AND HAND WRAPS AND EXTRA NITELIGHTS MY HAIR DRYER, HAIRCUTTING SCISSORS, ETC.  NEED TO SEE WHAT I CAN TOSS AND WHAT I NEED TO KEEP.  OR WHAT CAN BE MOVED TO ANOTHER DRAWER TO KEEP THINGS IN ONE PLACE.
THAT'S ON MY TO-DO LIST NEXT.
I ALSO NEED TO MAKE OUT CHECKS FOR MY XMAS DONATIONS TO MY FAVORED CHARITIES.  NOT A LOT, BUT WHATEVER I CAN SPARE THAT I'VE SAVED FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.  ALWAYS ST. JUDE'S, OUR VETERANS, AND ASPCA FIRST AND FOREMOST.
ON TV I AM ENJOYING THE XMAS COOKING TOURNAMENTS.  THERE ARE SO MANY NOW AND THOUGH I RARELY EAT ANY OF THE DESSERT-TYPE DISHES, I LOVE TO SEE THE TALENT OUT THERE LIKE GINGERBREAD, COOKIES, AND THE TOURNMENT OF XMAS CHAMPIONS.

STAY SAFE EVERYONE.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S

Good Morning to everyone!!  Hope you all have a good day planned.  It is very still outside, not a breath of air moving.  I don't have a thing planned for the day, just lazing around!!  Well, the garbage man just drove by, dumped the box and is now gone.  Guess it's time to move on, wishing you all well, BJ.
