EERK!!! Christmas shopping, I don't want to do it. but it will be mostly money, so I shouldn't complain ![]()
I have no time for anything else next week, my diary is now completely full, I had to change my hair foils appt to just a shampoo cut and dry, no time for the foils, I get another spray tan, and I wouldn't get there in time.
I just threw a load of washing in the machine, of clothes I might want to take, it's cooler here today and supposed to be cool when we are away, but really hot the day we sail from Sydney, so like last year we have to take some cool and hot weather clothes, makes it harder, plus we know this ship doesn't have a laundry, we are used to that, we can send it out, but they use big machines, and my clothes don't always do well with industrial machines and dryers, they can be tough on clothes and shrink them, don't want that ![]()
I had another productive day on Saturday, we had a food planning/prep workshop, it was really interesting how to do the prep and cook quickly, AND make it healthy. Learnt a lot, plus we found about some great glass storage containers to store lunches for a week, on sale and excellent quality.
I had my sewing day today, I took hand sewing only, my thumbs are now sore LOL I did some English Paper piecing, some of the pieces were very tiny, plus sewed them on to the background I'll take some pics one day, this is for the Alice quilt, Julie says she rues the day she found it as she's had to redo most of the patterns on the book to make them fit AND be neat.. She likes sharp points on tips, and most of us have done Dear Jane with her, so lots of appliqué. There are still 3 blocks she is trying to figure out how to do and get good results, think we decided on one, the other 2 will be another block entirely.
THERESA I think it was you, I made Strawberry & Apple Christmas jam, so named for the spices of cinnamon, ginger, cloves and star anise, you really can't tell the taste of the spices, it just adds an interesting flavour, not spicy to taste, just enough to make it different. It takes hours to cook, the strawberries take forever to cook down and the jam to thicken, but I got them all bottled.
SANDRA you feed him so well, I know about the snacking, found an interesting snack to have, about 1/2 cup greek yoghurt and some frozen mixed berries - the berries thaw in the fridge and then the yoghurt is sweet and yum to eat after you mix it up.
Another snack was thin rice cakes spread with either avocado blended with lemon juice and canned chick peas or cottage cheese, or the chick peas or cottage cheese with frozen (thawed) broad beans that you skin first.
One more, sliced apple with peanut butter, yum!!
I need to get myself organised I want to roast some veg for dinner, I have some chicken thighs I will pan fry.
Have you heard about Thermomix?? Or did I ask before, The Mr was talking about it. I doubt I'd get much use form it, but it does do a lot of things. They've been around for years, just really expensive.

Holly, I don't know if it's A Midwest thing or not but it used to be there was a visitation one day/night, at the funeral home, no meal. The next day would be the funeral, burial and luncheon at church. Now days there is a visitation an hour before the funeral or celebration of life with burial and luncheon following. When held at a funeral home I don't know if they do a luncheon.
Trish, I had not heard of a Thermomix, I had to look it up. Not something I would use.
We had more than snow flurries yesterday, the snow plow even went by!!! It will melt this week when it gets back to the 40's.

50* this morning , going to 70* this afternoon, dropping to 40’s overnight and 38 tomorrow. 😱
Then low 40’s on Tuesday and the back to low 60’s on Thursday. Crazy 🤪
Offline
I have not heard of Thermomix either.
Trish that Strawberry Apple Christmas jam sounds delicious. I will look up the recipe. We usually only eat my homemade jams since they are so much better tasting than store bought.
Funerals? Not sure if it is a regional thing or not but here in NE Ohio is is almost exactly like Patty described. My BIL choose to be cremated, but they had one evening of "viewing" before hand. No other service or food. Seems like funerals are a thing of the past. I prefer a "celebration of life" instead, since funerals make me so sad.
It is cold and we have a rain/sleet mix coming down. Nothing is sticking on the ground because it is still pretty warm. Supposed to get 1-2 inches by tomorrow night and then get much warmer through the week.
I need to go get most of my Thanksgiving supplies. I am hosting at our house this year and it has been a long time. Usually Emmily's mom does it, but this year Anthony asked if I would do it since Emmily's mom and dad are getting up in age. I think she is 75 and he is 80 and his health is not good. Of course I said yes, but now I am fretting over it. Jane (Emmily's mom) is a take charge kind of woman, but she has a good heart. So, already she has called and said she will bring homemade noodles, mashed potatoes and a bread pudding.
OK. She is a really good cook, but is seems weird to bring those dishes. I need to get my pie making supplies before too long and the ingredients are sold out. I plan to make pumpkin, mixed berry and chocolate cream pie. Also a key lime torte, which is Aaron's favorite. I don't buy key limes, but just a key lime juice in a bottle. I have tried both ways and I did not see a big difference, so a bottle it is!
I did try out my repaired machine and she works like a charm once again.
Nothing else to say, so wishing you all a blessed Sunday.

Hello from wintry Northern Indiana! Lake effect snow, about an inch or two sticking, very windy, cold...brrr
Tom from next door is here fixing our dryer. It's started "screaming" a few days ago and needs either new bearings or some other? thing...he says. This is what he does for a living.
Yesterday, ML and I went to the fiber show at the nearby ritzy country club. It's a nice venue and they allow us peons to eat there on that day, if we wish.
We did and picked the 1/2 chicken salad sandwich and the most delicious butternut squash soup we've ever had. The show was nice but almost entirely weaving or felting, so a bit boring from other years when they've had a much better variety of artists. I bought ML one of her birthday presents: an I-pad pillow made from woven tapestry. (so pretty) Her other prop for it was made from imitation leather and her I-pad always fell of it. She says it works perfectly. ![]()
For those who still have funerals, most seem to be the 1-2 hour visitation, followed immediately by the funeral and graveyard service after which, if they're church people, a luncheon at the church, or if not, a meal provided at a local restaurant, even if the funeral is held at the funeral home. Often, the grave side service is later and private for the family only. With so many choosing cremation, all that can be changed up.
Supper is up for grabs.. What I should have started in the crock pot didn't get done and now it's way too late.
Trish, hope your packing/travel plans go well. It's a lot of work preparing to travel. Then, it's all over, just like that! Is this an ocean cruise or are you heading somewhere to stay for a bit?
ML and I are pulling together our Thanksgiving menu. Unless Danny comes at the last minute, it'll just be H. and me and the 3 of them. We're only going to have one dessert, Apple-nut squares which is really a cake. I miss the larger gathering, but not the work.
I sense this isn't the easy repair Tom said it would be. The men are pouring over the parts list for the dryer and are ordering something. Par for the course...So I'll close this and try to figure out supper. Have a good evening and sweet dreams.

So it seems like the terms visitation and viewing are interchangeable.
We had a nice afternoon, my great nephew Connor and his fiancée Reilly had a combined engagement party and housewarming, so we were there from 1-4. Lots of people, lots of food.
Tomorrow Lisa, the house cleaner makes her monthly visit, so Ralph had to clear the floor in the family room, which is his nest.
It’s been rainy off and on.
Judy, how far from the lake gets lake effect snow?
Offline
Holly, I didn't know so I googled it and was told the average is 25 miles but could be up to 100 miles depending on the strength of the wind. We're 10 miles south of Lake Michigan so no matter, we always get it. The flakes are huge and very pretty to watch coming down.

Brrrr! It's cold here in the South, only 35 and the high is only 37 today. By Thursday, it will be 70 again. Just a few days of this cold front passing thru!
I have a quilt to give Sadie Grace, but I will wait until they move into their new home. I found enough fabric to make her a matching pillow case.
I have picture albums I need to put back in the closet, empty the trash, put the fabric I'm donating in a bag, vacuum and my sewing room is finished. When I was working on all those Christmas embroidery blocks, I left this room in a mess!
Back home in Kentucky, the viewing/visitation is "supposed" to be an hour but it frequently goes 2 to 3 hours. Neighbors bring food and there's tea, sodas and coffee in the backroom. A lot of socializing and remembering. It's more the one hour viewing/visitation here; no food.
Are any of you on Statin drugs? I've been reading how they can make your muscles weak. I wonder if that is what is affecting my ankles. Also read you need to be on Q10 if you're on a Statin drug. The doctors certainly don't tell you any of this.
Offline
Devonne, I was on a statin for one dose, then my lip swelled up, so no more for me. Ralph’s uncle was on one and woke up and his legs didn’t work! So I’m way leery of them.
It’s drizzley and in the 40’s here, feels colder. Cold tomorrow, then a warmer day.
6 Mondays til Christmas! Yikes!
When we went to my great nephew’s yesterday, Heather asked me to bring her repaired quilt. She texted last night how happy she was to have it back on her bed.
Judy, I didn’t realize you were that close to the lake. Do you get what we call shore traffic in the summer?
Cheryl, how close are you to your Great Lake? And Patty? Are you near one?

I have been taking atorvastatin for years. The only side effect I have had is leg cramps, which are gone now that I take CoQ10 as recommended by my cardiologist.
It is cold here in Southern Illinois too. Wouldn’t feel so bad if not for the wind.
There must be a black hole in my house! I have lost three things in the past two weeks. None are expensive or irreplaceable but it is frustrating.

Good Morning to everyone!! Have no great plans for the day. Tracy is getting ready to head home, will miss her! It is a very gloomy day, quite dark outside. Well, I really don't have anything to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

I used to take Astorvastatin, but my insurance did not want to pay for it, so now I am on Rosuvastatin. I also take the CoQ10 as recommended by my cardiologist. I do have a lot of muscle tenderness but I did not think to associate it with that medication.![]()
Cold and now it is snowing big, fat snow flakes. Brrr!! Such a drastic change from the past few days. Supposed to reach the 50's by Thursday, though.
MaryLou, my house must have that same black hole! Hubby loses things everyday and gets so frustrated.
I live about an hour south of Lake Erie, so I do not get the "lake effect" snow. It goes across the lake into the extreme northern part of Ohio and into Pennsylvania. The area of Ashtebula and Geauga counties get a lot of snow. I think they have 2 or three inches already per the news.
I bought a template set at the thrift store the other day. I think it will be cute. It is a dog head with big ears (think beagle) and it has a bow tie or a bone to put under the chin area, I think. I will play around with it and see what I can come up with. The template is wooden and it looks like it would make a 10 inch or 12 inch block.

WONKY ADS......
1. TOASTER: A GIFT THAT EVERY MEMBER OF THE FAMILY APPRECIATES. AUTOMATICALLY BURNS TOAST.
2. GET RID OF AUNTS: ZAP DOES THE JOB IN 24 HOURS.
WE MISSED THE SNOW THIS TIME BUT WE GOT SOME RAIN. NOT TOO BAD. NO POWER LOSS FOR THIS AREA. TODAY ITS MIGHTY DARK AND DREARY AND COOL.
I DIDN'T FEEL TOO GREAT YESTERDAY SO NOTHING GOT DONE, NOT EVEN SEWING. I MANAGED TO START A NEW JIGSAW PUZZLE AND TAKE OUT MY TRASH AFTER BAGGING AND FREEZING MY MEATS BEFORE THE WONKIES ATTACKED. THAT WAS THE LIMIT OF MY ACTIONS.
I WATCHED TV MOST OF THE DAY. I MANAGED TO MAKE SOME TACO
MIX SO I COULD HAVE A SMALL BURRITO FOR SUPPER AND FOR LEFTOVERS TODAY.
I HOPE TO SEW LATER TODAY. I HAVE SOME ORDERING TO DO ONLINE. ONE THING MAY BE A NEW WINTER JACKET/COAT. I ONLY HAVE ONE AND THAT'S GETTING SHABBY. I RARELY GO OUTDOORS EXCEPT FOR DR APPTS AND TRASH TAKING, BUT I MAY BUY A NEW COAT. ALSO A FEW LITTLE THINGS I NEED FOR XMAS GIFTS FOR FAMILY. I GIVE THEM ALL CASH, BUT A LITTLE SOMETHING IS ALWAYS NICE TO GET FOR XMAS. SOMETHING USEFUL.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

I'm about 75 miles west of Duluth MN that is at the western point of Lake Superior. Lake affect snow is along the south shore of the lake.
Our snow should be gone in a couple days, it's supposed to be in the 50's here on Thursday also.
Sorry to hear you ladies have a black hole at your houses. The one here has closed, I haven't lost anything for quite some time (knock on wood!).

No, Holly, I don't believe we get shore traffic. The Lake Michigan shore here in Indiana is not very accessible. Only about a 5-mile continuous drive goes along part of the lake shore. Otherwise, the very old state park and then the fairly new national park are on the shore plus several small villages that are finicky about thru traffic in their domains. Going up into the state of Michigan is much the same, little accessible shoreline at least on this lower end.
We might make it up there (the 10 miles) once per season if I can get Howard on board. It's beautiful and soothing and the Dunes are an ecological gold mine-birds, plants, etc. but he's hard to pin down and I don't care to do it alone. As rural farm kids growing up in the 50s/60s, we didn't have transportion to the state park unless it was a special outing so it was never an established habit. Too much info, but there you are...![]()
I take what Mary Lou takes and Howard takes what Cheryl takes and we add the CO-Q-10. Not because our docs ever recommended it. Years ago, my Aunt Fran saw an article in the newspaper and she sent it to me and we've always done that. As for muscle aches and so forth, who really knows what statins do to you, but if your Chol. is high, how do you not take it? Unless you have a bad reaction like Holly. ML had a terrible reaction to it, too, so she doesn't take it, so far, but her doc is on her tail about it and she's about to start something newer and milder. We'll see... She reacts negatively to most meds. Has to try a teeny tiny dosage to start and hope for the best.
We got 8 inches of snow overnight, with snow showers coming and going this afternoon. Howard tried to snow blow the apron in front of the garage and it was useless and too much for him. With the much warmer temps coming so soon, he really doesn't want to mess with the plow, yet. He's back in here "recovering"!
I'm impressed, Devonne with all you've accomplished in your sewing room. Wish I didn't get bogged down with whatever I try to do and then it drags on.
How nice for Sadie Grace to have a new quilt for her new room. And nice that you had one made, already, and enough fabric to make her a pillow case.
I have chicken stew in the crockpot for supper. Hope it's edible! Need to grab something for lunch so will talk with you all later.

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
DS we are freezing too! Way too cold for this southern girl! ![]()
I have tried 2 different statins. The first was many years ago, I had ear to shoulder muscle cramps! Then my Endocrinologist talked me into trying a Newer generation statin. I did. By the end of the week I was having restless legs, Charlie horses, and more! Done! Cannot tolerate the side effects. Then he talked me into Repatha. I was getting cramps and Charlie horses with it and convinced myself it was stress. Then it dawned on me that it might be the med. The more I took the worse it got. Read up on it and decided to do once a month. By the time for the next dose the cramps were almost gone. Took the dose and the next few days/nights were awful! Done! I didn't know that the co-Q-10 was supposed to help with that! Might try it! ![]()
We have a black hole here too! It is funny when we find the missing item no where close to where it should have been! ![]()
Funerals, since I just went through that, are different from what I grew up with. No clue when the change occurred. Thankfully my church was able to guide me! We had the service, with food afterward, the interment was in another state and my brother provided the food for that one. Nobody showed to his house for that one. We did. Stayed a bit then hit the road home! ![]()
Hubby and I bundled up for the walk at the park! I have multiple layers on and the wind went through them all! I was still warmer than I would have been without the layers! ![]()
Yesterday I was getting the area prepped for the lemon tree. I was moving bags of potting soil, for raised beds, and between 2 of the bags was a snake! Simba was helping me, I had to convince him to go in the house, he did not see it, he was just enjoying being in the garage. I texted Alex since hubby was driving. He said to let it be and he would remove the snake when he got home! I think the poor little guy thought he had found himself the perfect hibernation spot! He had moved a smidge by the time hubby got home and hubby used 2 fan rakes to get him outside. He rapidly took off. He was a a good snake, so no danger, but why risk it! ![]()
We may get a few flurries, but nothing will stick, and I will probably never see it. Heading to my sewing room shortly! Getting close to finishing the top for my OBW! I am stoked. It looks so much better than I ever thought it would. I was ready to trash it! I will probably keep it now! ![]()
Not much else from my little corner of the world! ![]()

Interesting about the statins, I take BP meds, and cholesterol, but I only take calcium and Vitamin D as extras. I had to look up the CoQ10. I don't think I need it LOL
CHERYL the recipe for the jam is on Easy Recipe Gang - Steph De Sousa, you can just google her name, and apple strawberry jam, and it should come up. The recipe is in kgs but she has a toggle on the page to change to USA but it's in cups, I would be more inclined to just all make the kg amounts as lb. Should work, and would kind of half the recipe, as it's too big, in her video she uses frozen berries, and so do I, guess that's why it takes so long, but she has fresh berries in the recipe. ( 1lb is 454 g and 500g is 1/2 of 1kg - so changing the weights is good, it would be roughly what I used.
THERESA yikes, I dislike those little devils, we have red bellied black, and brown snakes near to us in the corridor along the freeway, that are pretty bad. The red bellied can kill a dog or small child, but mostly they will just slither away.
DEVONNE that is cold!! We are heading to colder temps, not fun, as it's harder to pack, and who knows how cold/warm the ship will be!! You've done all cleaning up the sewing room, want to do mine??? LOL
SANDRA are you feeling OK, you sound just a little tired. I just love Snoopy, what a cute saying, did you embroider that??
HOLLY glad to hear the quilt made it home, I love my quilts to snuggle under, they are both lightweight and warm!
MARYLOU good result, hope you enjoyed your dinner.
My busiest day was today, had training, home to quickly shower and eat, then hairdresser, back home to change for the tan session, home again, and wait the required time to shower - again - LOL None of the times were particularly long, just had to be there by a certain time. Easy dinner of "pink pasta" and I added chicken.
It's really just pasta cooked, then added to a pot with some onion and passata, stock and cream ( I only had coconut can cream) then lots of fresh parmesan. Plenty leftover over, and we'll be eating VERY well in a few days anyway, so light and easy tonight!.
I also finished prepping the last of the machine appliqué blocks, such tiny pieces, some only 1/4" by 1/2", horrible, they get put over the larger pieces, getting them laid out correctly was a pain, now I just need to blanket stitch them. Getting the paper off the tiny pieces wasn't fun LOL
It's cool again, and I am heading to bed didn't get much sleep on Sunday night, for some reason just couldn't sleep, caught up a little last night, but tired now,
And I need to pack tomorrow, haven't done any of it, and I need to get things ironed first. We have been notified that we have priority boarding - we were in the 2nd group anyway, and we have a reserved dining room for our class of cabin on embarkation day, that's interesting, have never had that before. Going to be quite warm the day we leave, so it will be lovely on the harbour, then cold the next day for our first stop, which reminds me, better take a rain coat! And our bonus is we leave at 4pm, so we sail before dinner, we have always been in the dining room before with a late sail away.
