Happy Sunday!
Did you set your clocks BACK an hour?
Belated happy birthday, Devonne!
Gotta run for now! I hope you are all well!
Offline
WOW!! Getting closer to Christmas and you have Thanksgiving soon too!! Where has the time gone!!
I started threads for a few weeks, I'll only be away for 5 nights, just wanted to be sure there was plenty of threads open.
It's been another coolish day, a bit of rain around still, but only light showers, and not much here, I did get some when I went out for a bit this morning, but nothing here!
Feels quite humid though.
SANDRA I wish you had a good sleep like that every night, I don't sleep much these days either, I was awake so much last night, feeling it now, but I can't nap during the day. I have been doing a jigsaw Julie loaned me, I may not finish it, I'll try again tonight but it's awful, so many pieces can be used in multiple places, one I just tried fitted ( and looked correct) in FOUR places, it's a matter of trying each piece and the crossing fingers, I have only the sky and clouds to go, and in the last section of rocky mountains I had 4 pieces left, and they wouldn't go anywhere, had to fit somewhere, SO I had to keep undoing bit to see where they could fit, finished eventually, but it's not enjoyable, first time I have ever been totally stumped by a puzzle.
THERESA it does take time when you have done so much with no time to actually comprehend what you are gong through, you did the absolute best to care for your mum, you couldn't have done more, and please don't even think it, it was her time, and while it didn't end up the way you might have wanted it just happened that way ((((hugs)))) Enjoy that sewing, you have given me an idea to finish UFOs. I have a few I need to clean out!!
DEVONNE you are doing so well on your plan, as are HOLLY and SANDRA good for you!!!! I need to get back into eating properly, I have started making a baked oats thing for breakfast, and enjoying that , so I hope to make some plans for lunches, we are having a workshop at training on meal prep and planning next Saturday, I am going, see if I can stick to it.
I got lots of Gingerbread Men for John and me, I took his around, and today I got a dress up costume (cheap one) for our end of your party, it was all I could find, and I didn't care what it is, It a stripey thing from Beetlejuice, never seen the movie so no idea what it's about LOL while I was out I got jars to put jam and chutney for the girls for Christmas, they loved the jam last year, so some will get that again, the others the chutney, they are easy recipes, and I bought a jar funnel last year after making such a mess of spooning the jam into jars.
I need to find a label maker/printer. I know you can get some on Amazon, I'll start searching, I wrote on the last ones, I would like to print these labels. I have some address labels, I can experiment with those if I have to.
I've been messaging with my sis while typing, she flew into Hanoi, Vietnam yesterday, and is now in Halong Bay, the boat looks beautiful, she has never been to Vietnam, so they are both looking forward to seeing the temples.
Have a great night and even better Sunday.
See you later
I need to get my Prolia injection tomorrow, and the nurse will do my "fit to drive" test while I am there, doesn't need to be in till December, but may as well get it over with. It's the counting back from 100 that I have to concentrate on!! I can do all the others, but my drawing needs help, maybe I'll slip a small ruler in my bag so I can do that LOL wonder if she'll let me!
Offline
Trish, is the "fit to drive" only after you reach a certain age? I was told no eye exam needed if you bring a form from your eye dr. Wrong info! I still had to do the eye exam.
Today is the first day I can tell my sweatpants are looser. I did buy potato chips and cheetos. Just a little "indulgence" every now and then! ![]()
Have a great Sunday everyone! Tomorrow I'm going to work on my sewing room. Today I'm starting a new 500 piece puzzle and watching a movie. This is the one I just finished. It's hard to tear it apart, lol!

SIGNS OF THE TIMES......
1. ON A TENNESSEE HIGHWAY: TAKE NOTICE: WHEN THIS SIGN IS UNDER WATER, THIS ROAD IS IMPASSABLE.
A COOL AND SUNNY DAY. IN THE 40S RIGHT NOW BUT SHOULD HIT 50.
I JUST TRIED TO MAKE AN ORDER FROM MY LOCAL GROCER SO I COULD GET A TURKEY BREAST ON SALE. I MUST HAVE HIT SOMETHING WRONG BECAUSE IT DISAPPEARED. I WILL TRY AGAIN LATER.
I HAVE ROAST PORK CHOPS WITH TATERS AND CARROTS ON MY MENU TODAY. I ALSO HAVE A BIT OF STEAK AND CORN LEFT FOR MY LUNCH SO I AM IN GOOD SHAPE. AS FOR THE WAISTLINE, THAT IS GOING TO NEED MORE HELP. I ADMIT TO SNEAKING MORE SNACKS THAN I SHOULD. I AM BADDDDD.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S![]()

It’s a gorgeous sunny day, 62 out. I hate the time change. I woke up at 6:30, which is close to the time I wake up when it was 7:30, but it seemed too early so I went back to sleep. I feel jet lagged.
We just got home from Olive Garden with F and C. I got soup and salad, so good! Brought home a bowl of soup and half the salad.
Judy, how nice for Howard to get a QOV! Well deserved.
Theresa, you were a great advocate for your mom, so please don’t torture yourself with coulda, woulda, shoulda. You went above and beyond for her.
Offline
Theresa, it's hard to change from one mode of life to another, instantly, but that's what the loss of a loved one amounts to and it's a process to make that change--it doesn't happen over night. Going from almost never being able to do anything YOU want to having that choice doesn't either, (happen overnight), but you're making a good start and I know your Mom wouldn't want you to spend a moment of time in regret. I was always amazed at your resiliency and pluck, thru it all. Love you...![]()
Thank you, Holly. Howard did deserve the quilt and I think he's still pinching himself. He's been talking about the whole thing more than he ever talks about anything. I didn't know they put a label on each quilt with the vet's name and details of his service time and who made the quilt.
There was one glitch that I didn't mention yesterday. The poor substitute QOV rep got two quilts mixed up, Howard's and another man's. We discovered the wrong certificates yesterday before leaving, but the quilts were switched, too, which was evident as those labels were seen, once we got home. We called the organizer of the affair to tell him and the other man had just called him, too. So, the organizer came by here this morning to pick up the quilt and was going to take it to it's rightful owner and get Howard's from him, (some 60 or 70 miles, round trip
) So, we've offered to drive into town to his house to pick up H.'s when he gets back, but haven't heard from him, yet.
It's a gorgeous fall day. Nippy, but with bright sun and the colors of the trees are lovely.
So with that, I close this and wish you all a good evening and sweet dreams.

Judy, how nice that Howard got a Quilt of Valor quilt. Thanks to him for his service. I did two Quilts of Valor tops a few years ago, but have not done one since. I did not do any quilting on them since I am not very good at it, but I do piece nicely.
Sorry about the mix-up, but they seem to go out of their way to make it right.
We went to Gabriel's and Amelia's end of football band show last evening. It is always a lot of fun; the high school marching band plays songs from the weekly shows and the 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands play 3 songs for us. It is so amazing at how fast they improve each year. The "concert" is in the gym and they have black lights all around and the band kids are dressed in neon colors, glo-lights, etc. Gabriel plays bass drum and all the drummers had lights on their drums. I will post a pic if I can figure it out again. After the show, we came home and had a small bonfire and had cheddar brauts and hot dogs cooked over the fire. We are supposed to get some snow next week, so this was probably out last for fire for the season.

MANGLED MODIFIERS......
1. THE PATIENT WAS REFERRED TO A PSYCHIATRIST WITH A SEVERE EMOTIONAL PROBLEM.
2. DO NOT SIT IN CHAIR WITHOUT BEING FULLY ASSEMBLED.
IT SURE WAS CHILLY THIS MORNING. IT WAS ONLY 25 AT 6 A.M. BRRRR. BUT GOOD NEWS, ITS WARMING UP TO AROUND 50 AND ITS SUNNY. I HAVE NOT YET OPENED A WINDOW, BUT MAY DO SO IN THE AFTERNOON.
I ALREADY REORGANIZED MY DINING TABLE WHERE I KEEP MY COMPUTER AND THINGS NEEDED AT MY FINGERTIPS. I ALSO HAVE A LARGE CUTTING MAT ON THAT TABLE SO ITS ALWAYS READY TO USE. IT FEELS GOOD TO GET THINGS ORGANIZED.
JUDY......YES, THANK YOU HOWARD FOR YOUR SERVICE. I AM GLAD HE GOT A QUILT OF VALOR. HE DESERVED ONE. ITS A SHAME THEY GOT HIS MIXED UP WITH ANOTHER'S. I HOPE THAT'S STRAIGHTENED OUT SOON SO HE CAN ENJOY HIS QUILT.
CHERYL......GREAT PICTURE. I'M GLAD THE KIDS STILL ENJOY BEING IN THE BAND AND GETTING LOTS OF SOCIAL LIFE. THEY REALLY NEED IT THESE DAYS WITH MOST JUST PLAYING GAMES ON THEIR PHONES. GOOD FOR YOUR GRANDS.
LADIES, REMEMBER WHEN WE USED TO MAKE QUILT TOPS FOR THE GUYS IN SERVICE? I LOST TRACK OF THE NUMBER I MAILED OUT, BUT THE DEAR LADY PASSED AWAY AND I HAVEN'T MADE ONE SINCE I MOVED HERE TO THIS SMALLER PLACE. I USED TO HAVE A HUGE TABLE WHERE I COULD LAY OUT AND ASSEMBLE A BIG QUILT. AND SEWING ROOM. NOW ITS TOO SMALL FOR DOING THOSE THINGS.
I ALSO USED TO MAKE PREEMIE QUILTS FOR THE HOSPITAL TO LAY OVER THE INCUBATORS. THE PARENTS COULD TELL RIGHT AWAY WHICH ONE WAS THEIR BABY FROM THE QUILT LAYING OVER THE FOOT OF THE 'BATOR. THEN WHEN BABY WAS READY, THEY TOOK HIM OR HER HOME WRAPPED IN THEIR SPECIAL QUILT. THOSE DAYS ARE ALSO BEHIND ME.
NOW ITS JUST SMALL STUFF, LIKE MY DOOR HANGINGS. I STILL LOVE TO SEW BUT NOT AS OFTEN. I DON'T HAVE THE ENERGY TO KEEP AT THE SEWING MACHINE FOR LONG. THE BACK ACHES TOO SOON.
THE GIRLS IN CRAFTS ARE THINKING OF MAKING BOWL COZIES FOR SMALL XMAS GIFTS. ALSO NAPKINS THAT FOLD LIKE XMAS TREES. WE HAVE PATTERNS. AND EASY SLEEP MASKS. ALSO KNIT OR CROCHET DISH CLOTHS AND HATS. THOSE ARE THINGS WE CAN ALL HANDLE EVEN WITH LITTLE SPACE.
I STILL HAVE ROASTED PORK CHOPS AND VEGGIES FOR LEFTOVERS TODAY IT SEEMS I ALWAYS HAVE LEFTOVERS. ITS THE BANE OF LIVING ALONE. ITS LUCKY I LOVE THE LEFTOVERS NEARLY AS MUCH AS FRESH COOKED.
I NEED TO TAKE SOMETHING OUT OF THE FREEZER TO DEFROST FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
WELL, I REALLY NEED TO GET GOING. MY LAPS AWAIT ME. STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS. HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S ![]()

Teresa- ❤️.
The time change has never really bothered me me, except for the time that DH and I both changed the clock and I was an hour early to work! lol
Cold but sunny here again and my gardenia is still blooming! 🤷♀️ lol
I’ve already been on the phone changing appts, etc. I started this last week and no return calls yet, so I’m starting to over. 😡.
When I was in NY our guild worked on QOV quilts once a month on a Saturday. It was set up like an assembly line…about 20-25 …some cutting, sewing, pressing, quilting, making labels, etc. It was very rewarding. At that time I had an endless source of patriotic fabric through contacts at Moda and Kaufman.
Down here all this guild wants to do is charity quilts for battered woman and pillow cases for ? They don’t even want to hear about QOV and other such groups.

Janet, that’s disappointing that the guild isn’t interested in QOV.
Sandra, for the cozies, make sure the fabric, thread and batting is 100% cotton so they are microwave safe. Wrap n zap is 100% cotton.
I had a dermatologist appointment for skin check today. On my face and neck she biopsied 2 areas and froze 3. Then I got home to an email that the parent company of the medical practice we go to is closing the office December 1. We’ve been going to that practice for 40 years, so we’re really mad.
After the derm, we went to the Omelette House for brunch. I got an omelette that will last me 3 days!
We have partial sun and it’s 58 now. For dinner we have a variety of leftovers.
Tomorrow is Election Day- vote early and often! We voted by mail a couple weeks ago. And Christmas music will start on the radio any second now!

Howard thanks you both, QB and Holly. And yes, he has his own labeled quilt, now. We drove and got it late yesterday afternoon. Poor Don, and his wife were leaving for vacation today and we offered to do that after he had to make that long drive for the exchange and also had had the responsibility of the Vet. Luncheon and family company all weekend. Sadly, the other man told Don he really liked Howard's, and this one IS prettier with more fabrics and a more complicated pattern. But, you get the one they choose for you...
The one thing I really couldn't wait to to tell all of you is, I know the maker, personally! I wondered if I might at least recognize a name, but this is the sister-in-law of my aunt by marriage, Betty, who will be 100 this month.
Gloria, ( the quiltmaker) is her brother's wife. How about that?
I can't wait to tell Aunt Betty. I don't know why, but it makes the whole thing more special, serendipitous. I love things that seem like serendipity.
Cheryl, you must be so proud of your band kids! Thanks for the picture--the red lights, especially, mark where Gabriel is.
Another chilly, sunny fall day, here. After 80s well into October, this takes a bit of getting used to. So far, I've not seen any squirrels checking out my offering of water. Wonder why? Maybe just the timing since I'm not in here in the sunroom unless I'm on the computer.
Holly, you have the best lunches and being able to stretch them like you do, makes it all more affordable...a good feeling. I'm going to ask you an admittedly ignorant question. What are the fabric bowls you are making exactly for? I'm assuming for heating up and then to pick the hot bowls up and not burn your hands. Is that right? (Told you it was ignorant!) ![]()
I'm loving the more leisurely feel of no long being on DST. Just feels like more time in a day to me. Granted, I don't have to be out in the early onset dusk and dark that so many hate.
Better quit and go. Making chili for supper. Have a good day...

Judy, you put the bowl in the cozy and put it in the microwave, that way you don’t burn your hand on the hot bowl. Or you can put your bowl of ice cream in it, and your hands or lap don’t get cold. Or you can use it when you take a hot bowl out of the microwave instead of a potholder.

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
Thank you everyone for your kind words. I know it will take time, to get my life back. At least a new normal! ![]()
Holly I keep saying I want to make bowl cozies. When I finally get around to it I will call you! ![]()
Cold mornings and warmish afternoons here. We planted the Rosemary bush, I had in a pot on the deck, yesterday along with 2 mums I had bought. I put them in the backyard this time. Tired of the deer pulling them up to taste test them! ![]()
Had my 6 month cleaning for my teeth this morning, no cavities, then to the park, and home to finish taking down Halloween and putting up Thanksgiving. We are going to move the lemon tree back to the deck, since it will not get below freezing for the next almost 2 weeks. We will watch the weather, just in case! ![]()
We had a cold rain yesterday. It did not start until after we took Simba for his ride and walk, yesterday afternoon! Silly dog loves car rides! ![]()
Simba was helping me put out my stuffed turkeys, kept trying to take them from my hand. I would not be surprised if a couple turkeys disappear! ![]()
Nothing else new from my little corner of the world! ![]()
Later my Friends! ![]()

Going to be in the 70's all this week, but next week it gets much colder.
Judy, what an honor for Howard to get a QOV quilt. Even better that you know the quilter!
Cheryl, I always enjoyed the band shows years ago. Is Gabriel a senior?
Theresa, did you get any lemons off the tree this year?
I am so mad at myself. I broke my intermittent fasting last night wth a midnight snack...first time since I started it Sept. 4th. I'll get right back on the band wagon today.
Headed back to work on my messy sewing room. Yesterday I finished going thru 3 plastic bins. I came across a binder with recipes I had saved & the cleaning was shot after that, lol.

Good morning!
Dean and I went to vote. Not many people were out, but then again, not many issues on the ballot; mostly school board members and judges.
It is a lovely fall day. My heels have been hurting the past couple of weeks, so no walks for a while. I tried newer shoes, but that did not help.
Janet, that was a funny story about both you and hubby changing the clocks! I did not like the time change when I was working because it gets dark at 4:30 p.m. and I barely had time to take the dog out before dark. I have nowhere to go now, so not a problem. I would not care if it stayed daylight savings all year though.
I have a load of junk, er....stufff...lol, to take to donation. I hope to get it done today. I have several items of Amelia's clothes that no longer fit. She is only 12 but now wears a S/M in women. She also had many baby dolls and all the clothes and accessories here, but I will keep them for a while longer. She does not play with them, but many were expensive (American Girl, etc) and I hate to just donate them. Maybe we can sort and put them on Facebook Marketplace.
Nothing else to say, so will close for now.

We voted a couple of weeks ago, there’s a mail in drop off box at our boro hall, and you get a postcard from the county when it arrives. We are only one of two states with a governor election.
We went to Sam’s Club and stocked up on a lot of things. I put my phone in my back pocket so it would register my steps- 2400! Yikes!
Theresa, any time! I got a set of templates from Amazon, and I’m making the darts shallower.
Trish, I’m reading a brand new book called The Vanishing Place by Zoe Rankin, which is set in New Zealand. A lot of it takes place in the bush, which sounds like a jungle?
Devonne, don’t beat yourself up, just move on. We’re not on a diet, we’re changing our lifestyle, to become healthier!
By next week, it could be in the 30’s, yikes! We both slept better last night, and were out the door before 9 this morning.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES......
IN FRONT OF A NEW HAMPSHIRE CAR WASH: IF YOU CAN'T READ THIS, IT'S TIME YOU WASH YOUR CAR.
50S TODAY, 30S TONITE BUT SUNNY DAY. NICE. I EVEN HAVE MY WINDOWS OPEN.
WELL, I PLACED AN ORDER TO HAVE DELIVERY SO I COULD GET A TURKEY BREAST. THE SALE WOULD BE ABOUT DONE WHEN MY SON CAN SHOP, SO I THOUGHT I COULD GET ONE. I ALSO OREDERED SOME OTHER THINGS I NEEDED AND CANNED GOODS TO STOCK UP A BIT. WOE IS ME, NO TURKEY BREAST. THEY ONLY HAD A LIMITED AMOUNT AND EVEN 3 DAYS INTO THE SALE, NONE LEFT.
I THINK I WILL JUST MAKE A VARIED ROASTING OF WHATEVER I FEEL LIKE EATING THAT DAY. MAYBE MEATBALLS, PORK CHOPS, BRACIOLE (STUFFED STEAK), OR/AND CHICKEN BREASTS. WHATEVER I WANT I HAVE PLENTY OF IN MY FREEZER.
I GOT MY LATEST LIBRARY BOOK, HUGGER MUGGER BY ROBERT PARKER. NOT A BIG FAN OF HIS, BUT HE'S OK. AT LEAST ITS IN LARGE-PRINT.
WENT TO COFFEE MORNING LATE BUT JUST CHATTING. I DON'T IMBIBE SINCE THOSE SWEETS ARE NOT ON MY MENU AND BESIDES, CAKES, DONUTS, MUFFINS ARE NOT EVER SOMETHING I CRAVE. NOW CHOCOLATE CANDY, THAT'S ANOTHER STORY.
WHEN IT COMES TO TIME CHANGE, I NEVER MINDED IT WHEN I WORKED IN THE CITY. I GOT OUT AT 4:30 AND CAUGHT THE BUS ABOUT 100 FEET FROM THE OFFICE DOOR. IT WAS DARK AND I LOVED IT. IT FELT LIKE A SOFT COCOON, UNTIL THE DEAD OF WINTER WHEN THE WINDS BLEW STRONGLY. MAYBE THAT'S WHY I AM A NITEOWL NOW, NOT GETTING TO SLEEP TIL THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING EVERY DAY.
STAY SAFE LADIES. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Thanks, Holly, for the info.
We voted this morning on a school district referendum, only, this morning at the school I attended all 12 yrs. That school is gone, but I always feel I'm on familiar ground when we vote there, Howard, always wearing his Navy cap, was stopped by another vet with a similar cap and they visited for a time. That happens often when we're at W-M, too. I just go on shopping and he finds me, later. He not the type to "buttonhole" anyone, but I know he enjoys yakking with those who do.
QB, so sorry about your losing out on the turkey breast. Perhaps they'll run another ad before the big day and if you're quick enough, you can get one. I bought two in the summer on sale and gave one to ML a day or so ago to cook for our Thanksgiving. So, I don't know how available they are around here right now. She's going to give it the crockpot try.
Theresa, Simba sounds very like how Bandit was. He's very helpful.
If I was a dog, I'd want to live at your house.
Yes, Devonne, I can't wait to tell my Aunt of the coincidence. At almost 100, and now in assisted living, she's not all there, but I'm hoping she'll get it with this. Easy to get sidetracked with a batch of recipes to re-read, isn't it?
Have a great day.
