TWO-HEADED HEADLINES.....
1. HERSHEY BARS PROTEST.
2. MEAT HEAD FIGHTS HIKE IN MINIMUM PAY.
YIPPEE. WE GOT AROUND 2 INCHES OF RAIN BUT WE SURE NEEDED IT. MY ONLY PROBLEM WAS LOSING POWER LAST NITE, BUT ONLY FOR UNDER 2 HRS SO NOT TOO BAD. AT LEAST MY COOKING WAS ALL DONE AND DISTRIBUTED.
DEVONNE.......HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRIEND. I HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR DAY TODAY. ![]()
THERESA.......SORRY TO HEAR OUR DEAR LUKE IS OFF WORK AGAIN. HE JUST CAN'T SEEM TO CATCH A BREAK AND HE TRIES SO DARN HARD. ITS A SHAME.
TRISH......WOW, I HAVE TO SAY I REALLY LOVE, LOVE YOUR QUILT. I THINK THOSE CHECKED FABRICS BRING IT TO LIFE AND IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD. LOVE IT.
I SEE MY SOC. SEC. CK GOT IN EARLY THIS MONTH, ON THE 30TH. USUALLY ITS THE 3RD OF THE MONTH. ITS GOOD TO SEE WE ARE STILL GETTING THEM.
I LOST POWER FOR UNDER 2 HRS LAST NITE BUT IT WORKED OUT WELL. MY COOKING WAS DONE AND THE NEIGHBORS HAD THEIR CONTAINERS OF VEGGIE BEEF SOUP. THERE ARE 4 I KNOW REALLY LOVE IT AND WANT IT EVERY TIME I MAKE IT SO THEY GOT TO ENJOY A HOT SUPPER BEFORE WE LOST POWER. THIS MORNING, THO, I LOST MY INTERNET FOR AWHILE. NOT LONG. I WAS HAPPY ABOUT THAT SINCE I NEEDED TO GET ON HERE AND WISH DEVONNE HER HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
AS FOR TODAY, ITS SUNNY AND IN THE 50S AGAIN. CAN'T FAULT OUR WEATHER SO FAR THIS YEAR.
SPEAKING OF MONEY FOR XMAS GIFTS, LIKE SOME OF YOU WHO EXPERIENCED THE GRANDS RETURNING THEIR GIFTS OR ASKING FOR THE RECEIPTS SO THEY COULD RETURN THEM, MADE ME A CASH-MONEY BELIEVER. THEY ARE HAPPY, AND I AM HAPPY. NO MORE WASTING TIME HUNTING FOR A GIFT THEY WILL LOVE. NOT HAPPENING THESE DAYS. OUR IDEAS ARE SO DIFFERENT.
I GOT AN ELLIPSE ON OUR FREE TABLE YESTERDAY. THE GIVER BOUGHT HERSELF A MORE MODERN ONE WITH POWER. I CAN USE THIS ONE WHEN I DO NOT FEEL LIKE WALKING MY LAPS IN THE HALLWAYS. THERE ARE DAYS WHEN THAT HAPPENS. I CAN STILL DO THE ELLIPSE (LOW PEDAL THINGY FOR THE FEET) WHEN MY HEAD IS WONKY, TOO, SO A GOOD THING, I THINK.
NO COOKING FOR ME TODAY. I HAVE ENUF LEFTOVERS FOR A LUNCH AND THEN SOME STEAK FOR SUPPER. I DOUBT I WILL EVER STARVE. IN FACT, I GAINED BACK ANOTHER POUND SO NEED TO GET BACK ON TRACK AND STAY AWAY FROM THE SNACKS.
STAY SAFE EVERYONE. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Good Morning to everyone!! No sign of any sun today, not really any breeze either. Everyone is still sleeping here, well, I just heard Frank, so he's up and moving, but no sound from Tracy.
Frank has to go to Everett later for his pre-op. No idea how long that will take. Well, Tracy just came out, there was a package by the front door, so she grabbed that, not sure what it is.
Hard to believe, it will be a new month tomorrow. Well, I just talked to Tracy and found out that she will take Frank to Everett and Rhonda will be here for me, so I won't be alone. That's nice, as I don't like being alone. Well, now we have some breeze. Wow, there is a large group of birds flying over. Well, I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will just wish you all well, BJ.

Thanks for the birthday wishes...the big 76! No big plans. Dee is here to trim Grace's nails and get the spots I missed. Greg and Carter are coming later after school & they go home to get in their costumes. Gary has been here the last two nights. They always go to her best friend's house on Halloween night.
Trish, I love, love, LOVE the quilt!
Did you buy coordinating fabric? The border matches just perfect! Are those ladies from your school reunion? Good picture!
I have had a swollen area under my left knee for about 5 years. I thought it was a blood clot, so I asked 3 different doctors. All said nothing to worry about, but I did worry. I looked this morning and the swelling is almost gone. I was so surprised!
It looks like a place to live for G&E and the rest of the family is coming soon! I'll be so happy for them. Logan will move into G&E's RV. I hope it works out with them all living together. They did it over here so I don't foresee any problems.

Happy Birthday, Devonne! Hope you're having a lovely day. Wishing you many more.
No, the VA family never comes up here, as a rule. They came years ago when the kids were little for July 4th once, and Linda and Michael, their little brother, flew up for David's wedding, in 1991. And once, not too long ago, Linda rode up with friends who had relatives in South Bend and spent a couple of days with us, then rode back with them.
Janet, we went to Big Stone Gap. It's in the southwest point of the state with KY and TN close by.
Trish, I second what QB said about your quilt. Loved the addition of the checks and also the floral border. And, you looked good in your polka dots at the reunion. Always love dots! And yes, I did know QB was the starter--should have clarified that a bit more. (She still does a lot of the work!) ![]()
We had our small group yesterday instead of today, Friday. Had good fellowship with them and of course, good food. I took dessert--apple nut squares, that they/we all love. Am still 'recovering' from the change of pace trip, but have all things put away and straightened up.
Just had a gray squirrel and then a black squirrel on the deck looking for water, so I filled a couple of containers for them. I won't feed them as I don't want to draw anything too close to the house. It is fun, though, to see them come and get a drink.
Fall is always a bit bleak for me. Maybe due to memories of some devastating things that happened in that season...and the slight dread of winter and snow and plowing and...
Both my babies were born in late fall and those were happy times with good feelings.
I have quite a few antiques. Nothing valuable, more like old family oak things. ML told me today that Andrew is interested in them in the future, which was wonderful news to me. So, when he's home at Christmas for a few days, they'll come over here and we'll 'catalog' them with the history that only I know. This all came up because he needs a dining table and chairs for his apt. and will be taking Grandma's round oak table that is stored in their basement. He'll have to find chairs as it's the table, only.
Better go. Haven't accomplished much yet and need to. Have a good remainder of the day.

I’m late getting on today. We went to our friends Barbara and John to see the house they moved into in February. It’s only 14 miles away, but takes an hour because of traffic. We had lunch and a nice visit. I talk to her a couple of times a week, but we rarely see each other.
Trish, the quilt is beautiful!
Devonne, happy birthday!
It’s been super windy here all day. The rain stopped last night.
Janet, I’m sorry you don’t feel up to company for Thanksgiving.

Trish: Love that quilt! Stunning! ![]()
QB: Luke is rolling with the punches. Once they figure the budget, hopefully he will be back at work! He just found out his rent is only going up $50 a month! He's thrilled! ![]()
I had another post got distracted and it went poof, just sitting there! ![]()
We have had one trick or treater so far! I'm home waiting on them, hubby is walking the most important one! I may walk after they get back. ![]()
Got all the ceramic jack-o-lanterns with their candles lit up! Outside lights on! I'm ready. I have had the candy for weeks and the bags remained unopened until tonight! I'm proud of myself! Past years I would have had to buy more! ![]()
Not much else happening here! A good thing! ![]()
Later my Friends! ![]()

Happy Birthday, Devonne!! I hope your day was filled with love and happiness.
Trish, I second what the others have said about your quilt; it is gorgeous!! In response to keeping the repair receipt for the Janome, I did. However, it was 2.5 years ago, so it was of no use. The technician said my bobbin did not look like an original Janome, but it is. So, not sure what the actual problem is, but I hope this is the last repair.
Sandra, my BIL, Bill, used one of those elliptical foot things when he could no longer walk comfortably. He had diabetes (severe) and had neuropathy in his feet.
Judy, how nice that your younger ones are interested in your family antiques. I have a couple pieces of things like a small table and some knick-knacks but neither sons want them. I have tons of old photos form my childhood, Dean's and from my boys. Nobody wants them either, so I am not sure what to do with them. One of my brother's boys did contact me on Facebook and asked that I send him some of his dad when he was young, but he wanted me to scan and send via the computer. I don't have a scanner, I asked him if he wanted the actual pictures, but have not heard back from him, so I guess that is a "no". That was months ago. ![]()

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments, I do like this quilt, it was easy, just a Moda jelly roll and the fabric from the range for the borders, it was an odd one to make in one way, usually I have a darker 1st border, then a light final one, this one you had to save 8 of the lightest jelly roll strips and stitch them to make the border, works though. I didn't notice the checks so much as I made it, but they do stand out in the quilt, back to sewing binding after this.
I had training this morning, followed by coffee (- with avo toast and poached egg
- then home to shower and get to Aldi to pick up the gingerbread train and house, and some gingerbread men for John (and ME LOL ).
I also got some small jigsaw advent calendars, they are only 12 small puzzles of 80 pieces, I'll give one to Julie for her Christmas gift. No idea what to get her for her 70th!
INDY I am so glad you had a good time, I also have some things for the kids, Megan wants some, I wish she would take them now LOL it would be nice.
BJ I am happy that the girls spend time with you, I hope Frank is OK and his procedure goes well ((((hugs)))
SANDRA I am with you on the soup, been colder again today, was warmish yesterday, but now rainy and cold - again - it's always mixed weather for us this time of yer. I made corn, bacon and leek chowder, makes a big pot, is filling and nice comfort food.
CHERYL so sorry about the machine, sometimes you just get one that doesn't go well. My old =19.5pxBernina was like that, I got rid of it, literally, I tossed it out, couldn't pass it on with the problems I knew it had, and it wasn't a cheap machine either. Such a waste. I could have given it to the mechanic for parts, but it might have been those parts causing problems.
DEVONNE I hope you've had a lovely day, and remembered that birthday cake doesn't have calories LOL at least that's what I think anyway. one day to treat yourself.
HOLLY any more of the bowl cosies??, they make great presents, most of my (smaller) training group got one a couple years ago, they were very popular with the girls. My daytime group was only 8-10 regular ones back then.
I have been reading a series set in Gretna Green, kind of fantasy/magic. It's on Kindle Unlimited, but you can also buy the series, she's a fun author, lives in Scotland.
THERESA it will take you some time to get back into a routine you want for yourself, it's been a few years since you had ANY time to do that (((hugs)))) hope things go well for Luke, and the other kids too!
I am cold, got wet last night leaving the club, it was pouring, lightning/thunder, then today got wet again as I ran to the cafe for coffee LOL wasn't worth struggling to get the umbrella up, I was under shelter by the time I would have it open LOL

Not much going on for me. Each day we do some things outside getting ready for winter. No more snow flurries here, not even rain and we need it badly.

MANGLED MODIFIERS.......
THE POLICE SAID BARTH'S 1981 TOYOTA TRAVELED DOWN THE SHOULDER FOR ALMOST 1,000 FEET AND THEN HIT A UTILITY POLE GOING ABOUT 45 MILES AN HOUR.
SUNNY AND BRITE. A LOVELY DAY. MY BEDRM AND LIVING RM WINDOWS ARE OPEN FOR A COOL BREEZE OFF THE WATER. I HAVE NOT YET TURNED ON MY HEAT. TOO WARM IN HERE. MAY REACH 50 TODAY BUT 40S RIGHT NOW.
I SLEPT REALLY WELL AND FINALLY GOT UP AROUND 10:45 A.M. TODAY. IT FELT GOOD. I STILL SLEPT IN SNATCHES, BUT THEY WERE 3, 3, AND 2 SO IT WAS A GOOD 8 HRS. THAT RARELY HAPPENS. I GUESS THAT MEANS BRUNCH INSTEAD OF BREAKFAST.
I HAVE TO TAKE DOWN MY HALLOWEEN WALL HANGINGS AND FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO PUT UP. I GUESS IT WILL BE THANKSGIVING WHS. AND MAYBE SOME FALL ONES. I HAVE LOTS OF ROOM TO DISPLAY THEM NOW.
I SORTED MY PILLS FOR THE WEEK. I ALSO HAVE CLEANING THE BATHROOM AND VACUUMING ON MY TO-DO LIST WHICH IS PRETTY NORMAL FOR SATURDAYS. MY SON DOES NOT SHOP THIS WEEK. I HAVE PLENTY OF FOOD SO NO PROBLEM. THERE ARE 5 WEEKENDS IN NOVEMBER. AND THANKSGIVING IS COMING UP. I HAVE NO PLANS BUT I KNOW I WILL EAT WELL REGARDLESS SINCE I AM STILL ABLE TO COOK MY OWN MEALS.
REMEMBER, LADIES, TO TURN BACK YOUR CLOCKS UNLESS YOU HAVE AUTOMATIC ONES. I HAVE 5 I NEED TO DO BY HAND. ONLY THE PUTER, TV, AND MY PHONE ARE AUTOMATIC. WHEN I HAD A CAR, I NEVER CHANGED THAT ONE. I COULDN'T EVER FIGURE IT OUT.
MY DAY WILL BE DULL PER USUAL LADIES. MAYBE I WILL WORK ON THE JIGSAW TODAY. I HAVE BEEN NEGLECTING THAT. OF COURSE I SHALL READ. I STILL HAVE 3 SHOPPING BAGS OF BOOKS TO CATCH UP ON. MY DAUGHTER IS SUCH AN AVID READER AND WE LIKE THE SAME KINDS OF BOOKS SO I INHERIT HERS AFTER SHE READS THEM. AT LEAST THESE DAYS I DO NOT HAVE TO BUY TOO MANY MYSELF.
I AM THANKFUL TO WAKE UP EACH MORNING WITH FEW MEDICAL ISSUES.
I AM THANKFUL FOR A LOVELY FAMILY WHO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH ME ON A DAILY BASIS.
I AM THANKFUL FOR GOOD FRIENDS, BOTH HERE IN MY BLDG AND ON ODT, WHO CARE ABOUT ONE ANOTHER.
STAY SAFE LADIES. HUGS FOR YOU ALL. ![]()

Trish, I haven’t got back into the sewing room, but have plans for a bunch of bowl cozies. Manda has given me color requests, and Heather offered to bring me up one of her bowls!
I have soup going in the crockpot, mainly because I have half a bag of fresh spinach to use up. So far it’s beef broth, half a pound of cooked ground beef, onion, celery, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and spices. I’ll add some cooked noodles and the spinach the last hour.
I spent last evening organizing the recipes I’ve printed out and the pages were in a couple of places. I have some binders and page protectors (which I ran out of and ordered more) that I’m putting the recipes into categories. I still have a bunch more to file. It should make it easier to find a given recipe.
It’s sunny and 50’s today, the wind has died down. I took the day off from my PT, I allow myself one or two days off per week, no more.

We got home a bit ago from the Veteran's Day luncheon we go to every year at church. It's a wonderful time of honoring vets from anywhere, not just church people. Besides music and a speaker. and the meal, Quilts of Valor for 5 or 6 are given out and those who receive them are totally surprised. Howard was one of the recipients this year. A few weeks ago I was asked to compile info about him from his service days and send it to a certain person, but, was told he might or might not be one of those who get a quilt, so it was a surprise for both of us. I knew IF he rec'd one, he'd cry a bit and he did. And so did I. ![]()
Hard to believe it's 11/1 and we turn back the clocks tonight. I fare better on central time than CDT but am always a bit sad at the change which truly brings fall, then winter. Guess I'm sad about most changes and the passing of time so quickly.
I put out water in several containers and have yet to see a squirrel today. Maybe they came to drink while we were gone.
No real cooking tonight. A frozen entree for H. and an egg and bacon for me. That's been agreed upon. So will close this and catch a few zzzs in my recliner. H. is upstairs watching Notre Dame football and I'd bet the farm he's asleep...![]()

Evening y'all! ![]()
We got a total of 7 Trick-or-treaters! ![]()
I did not stop today! Since it's Saturday, I went to Starbucks, the park, home to let puppy out, Sam's (it was packed), Target, home, went to mass and home for the night! ![]()
Holly I love crockpot soups! Heck, I love my crockpot! ![]()
DS we got frost too. We ran out yesterday and picked the last of the tomatoes and bell peppers, so the frost wouldn't get them! ![]()
QB I sorted pills last night! ![]()
Trish, I am ready for a real routine again. I am figuring it all out, it will be slow. I am going to try and make time to sew. I am very close to finishing my OBW. That was from the first COF retreat! ![]()
I have pulled all the quilts I have in various stages of UFO's. I have them lined up with the plan of working on 2 at a time, one will be leaders and enders, the other will be on the wall to complete. With my OBW I am working on my snails trail I started it over 20 years ago! I so need to finish it! ![]()
I don't know if I need to designate, days for projects or what, still figuring it out! ![]()
Not much else, just excited to do stuff again. I feel a bit more normal. I still have restless nights, mostly my mind races and I try to figure out if I did this that or the other thing differently would mom still be here. I do need to stop doing that, it affects my sleep. It's all a process! Last night was one of those nights. ![]()
I was watching the video from Joyful and Merry this evening. She is going to start her Christmas daily block on Wednesday, at 11 am central. To get the free block each day you have to download it by 11 pm central, that day. I have all of last years. It came out while we were doing all of Luke's moving from one park to another. ![]()
I can't wait to play with fabric. That is my plan for tomorrow. Hubby is doing VIP tours at the ballpark tomorrow morning. I will go do my walk and hibernate in the quilt room. ![]()
Need to go! I am very tired! ![]()
Later my Friends! I cannot say enough how all of you have supported me this year. I don't know how I made it through, I think it was having friends here I always know have my back! ![]()
