I agree with Holly on the mini hotdogs. Look for "Little Smokies" at the store. You cut each crescent triangle in 3 triangles. A big hit here in the South for game day and Gary always makes 3 pans at Christmas time.
Patty, can't believe you have snow flurries already....makes me have chills, lol.

Sandra, condiments are a personal preference. I think Gary did use mustard. Watch them closely, as they brown fast.
Gary asked if he could stop by, which was unusual this early. E found a purebred Aussie on FB for free and Gary went and got him. The mother-in-law didn't like the dog, so it's goodbye time.
Our first home we bought in 1970 is now a foreclosure and will be up for auction November 11. Gary is coming back when the kids get out of school and we are going there. We moved in 1995. We bought this house when Gary was 2 years old. He will be 57 soon. I=19.5pxt's vacant and I hope we can get in.
I made cupcakes for Caleb and Sadie Grace. Decorated them with a Fall design. I bought paper cupcake boxes on Amazon...so easy to carry.

It's a rainy, chilly day in Georgia...I'm sure from Melissa.

We got home Saturday (25th) evening--worn out after 12 hours, w/stops, on the road.  It's taken me this long to even turn on my computer!  But, am now caught up with you all and feel I'm back in the flow.
We had a hectic, but good time.  Howard's family is chaotic at best and with the four dogs...ai, yi, yi!  If one dog saw or heard anything, it started all of them chasing around and barking, yapping, whining.  Everyone is welcoming, hugging, obviously thrilled to see us, so any negatives are minimal.  It's fun to see Linda and Howard interact with each other.  They are only 11 mos. apart, he being the older, and lived a tempestuous life with their alcoholic parents and are and always have been super close.  They had each other's backs as kids.
The scenery was perfect and we soaked it in.  Devonne, thought of you when we passed thru Whitesburg on the way home.  Thought of Marilynn, too, as we were close to Pikeville, but we needed to carry on for the 550 miles home in one day--a long haul for us two seniors.
Mary Lou, what a nice interlude for you, Florida and time with Lynn.  Have fun.
QB, you are truly the unofficial Activities Director (?) of your building.  In the end, too much food is better than too little.  I remember once my MIL went to a gathering like that where the hosts were to provide the meat and they did!  One rotissserie chicken...   (roll eyes)
Janet, sorry, due to your health issues, it's come to this but at the same, it's about time for "someone" to do his part.  I think all men who shop pad the list with extras, but in our case, I encourage Howard to pick up what appeals to him, as I can get stuck in a rut.  He tends to always buy more than one.  I try to urge him, if it's something new to us, not to buy multiples until we see if we like it.
Trish, how special--your school reunion.  Having gone to the same school for all my years, I know the fun it is to renew old memories and be with old friends.
Theresa, so glad you got Simba back, quickly.  Hope things smooth out for your MIL.  She always sounds like the perfect MIL, to me.
Cheryl, you got good advise.  I might have been a sap and signed something, thinking I HAD too.  Glad there are wiser heads, here.

Patty, keep the snow!  Glad you got to go see the twins and the other little guy.  And I know you love the seasonal changes your home area brings and uncomplaining about it, unlike some of us...
Enough for now.  I'm still trying to realign my life to being home and have been exhausted.
Today is hair washing day and tomorrow is our small group for which I need to make an apple-nut cake and Saturday is the Veteran's Day luncheon at church, so we're getting back to normal.
Hugs and
Indy

It’s another cloudy, chilly day. I did my exercises and did .2 miles on the treadmill, which translates to 1000 or so steps.
Ralph went to Tim Horton’s with his brother, then we went to Aldi, so more steps. My knees and feet are complaining!
Sandra, we put out a jar of mustard with the little hotdogs, but could also put out relish and ketchup. I haven’t made them since Heather’s family went vegetarian. Good luck with bingo!
Judy, it sounds like you had a nice trip. It’s always good to get home!

We used to call those Pigs in a Blanket”. You can buy them ready to bake in the freezer section.  As kids we made them.  Mustard on the side.
Judy- where in VA were you?
We just decided to do Thanksgiving alone.  DH will call DD and tell her.
I missed my usual fall retreat last weekend.  🙁  hoping I’ll be up to going to my January one.  The Match one got rescheduled to Feb because the gal who runs it forgot to send in the deposit. 😱. And the owner of the house gave the date away….youd think after 4 years she would have called to ask, but money talks….i won’t be going in Feb.
It’s barely 50* today and raining.  We seem to be stuck in this cold rainy pattern.
Finished another sashiko panel and almost done with my wool applique butterfly.  One of a series of 9, lol.  I’ve had the kits for a few years.

Holly, Those meatballs are usually what I take to the church for socials and they are always a hit.  I use grape jelly sometimes instead of cranberry.  Easy and fast.  I had not had the hotdogs in crescent rolls, and will have to try them.  My mom used to make full sized hotdogs in a homemade roll and we, too, called the "pigs in a blanket".
I made some ham and a side of zucchini for supper.  We love the zucchini now.  I also bought some cabbage to fry, but did not get to that yet.  Devonne, I love most veggies, too, but not kale.  I do not like the bitterness of it.
I finally drove my Janome to the repair shop today.  They said to expect a 10-14 day stay for the repair.  WOW, last time it was like 3 days.  I do miss sewing in the evenings, so it must get fixed.  Dean asked if I would like to look around when we dropped it off.  I said no, I did not want to be tempted.
Mary Lou, enjoy your vacation.  Most people love the beach, I am not one of them; would rather be in the woods.  Good friends of ours have a condo in New York City and have invited us up several times.  I have never been, but those tall buildings give me stress, almost like claustrophobia.  They seem to close me in.
Another cool, but sunny day and we enjoyed it outdoors, putting away my pots and planters.  It is supposed to rain tonight.

Cheryl, maybe they have to wait for a part?
It’s rainy and windy and generally dismal out, and my knees are not happy. I’m limping around.
Tonight is Mischief Night, but we don’t have any kids near us. But Ralph will back the truck all the way in and probably close the gates anyway. The rain and wind are really bringing the leaves down!
Dinner is in the crockpot, ravioli, spinach and meatballs. Faux lasagna, LOL.

Good Morning to everyone!!  Love to say Hi! to everyone; gets my day off to a good start!  It is off to a gray start to the day, no sun, but there is some blue up high, so may turn our to be a nice day.  I don't have any plans for the day, so will just turn on the TV shortly and hope it will be nice after awhile!!
Hope you all have a wonderful day, everyone!  BJ.

Marylou, your Florida trip sounds wonderful. I'm not a beach person, but I love sitting on the balcony and listening to the ocean waves.
Cheryl, I've been given longer dates to get my embroidery machine cleaned, but they always get it done sooner. I don't have room for more machines. My embroidery machine is long & takes up a lot of space, then I have a huge monitor on the other side of the table. On my regular table, I have my Kenmore Elite machine and now a 1,000 piece puzzle, lol.
We took the kids to our old 1970 house and couldn't get in...a bummer, as we really wanted to see it. We were able to walk around the house. The outbuilding Billy and I bought in 1972 was still there! Gary reminisced about how much basketball he and Dad played in the driveway and croquet in the backyard. We both thought the yard used to be big, but it's actually only 1/2 acre. We then went to our favorite bbq place for my birthday, early celebrating, as they have plans on Halloween night. My bbq salad was delicious. I love their cole slaw and got some to bring home.
Judy, welcome back home! I know what a tiring trip that must have been. Do they ever travel to visit you and Howard?
Janet, I don't know how you talked him into doing the grocery shopping, but good for you!
Trish, I look forward to seeing your sister's quilt. I will be starting my first sour dough starter soon! Still getting educated on You Tube, lol. It took me awhile to understand what it meant to "feed it."

Devonne- it started out of necessity when I hurt my foot/anle. Also, he has criticized my shopping “skills” for a while.  I used to stop by the Kroger on an almost daily basis instead of a once a week “big” shopping.  Believe me when I tell you he has stocked up on paper goods!  I call his shopping method the “dooms day method”. lol
I write the list by location in the store. Makes it quick and easy.  He of course embellishes the list.  🫢.
I have no interest in visiting our past homes, although I did like our last one more than this current one.  I certainly don’t miss the taxes nor the politics of NY.
I think places give you a longer return date so you won’t keep calling to see if the repair is done.

STOP THE PRESSES!
1.  THE LICENSE FEE FOR THE ALTERED DOGS WITH A CERTIFICATE WILL BE $3 AND FOR PETS OWNED BY SENIOR CITIZENS, WHO HAVE NOT BEEN ALTERED, THE FEE WILL BE $1.50.
THE RAIN IS COMING TODAY.  EXPECTING 1" TO 2" OF THE WET STUFF.  WE NEED IT.  I JUST HOPE WE DON'T LOSE POWER.  I HAVE SOME COOKING TO DO.
I WENT TO CRAFTS MORNING.  ON THE FREE TABLE WAS A FOOT PEDDLER EXERCISE THINGY.  I FORGET WHAT ITS CALLED.  THE GIVER GOT A NEW UPDATED ONE.  I WILL TRY IT TO SEE IF IT HELPS WITH THE LOSING WEIGHT.  I AM SURE THE EXERCISE CAN'T HURT.
JUDY.......NO, I AM NOT THE ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR.  SHARON, MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR, HAS TAKEN THAT ROLL THANK GOODNESS.  SHE IS YOUNGER, GETS OUT A LOT, DRIVES AND HAS GREAT IDEAS.  SHE'S PERFECT FOR THE JOB OF UNOFFICIAL DIRECTOR.  I JUST STARTED THE WHOLE THING.
ON THE SUBJECT OF HUSBANDS SHOPPING....THAT DID NOT WORK OUT FOR ME.  I SENT MINE TO SHOP AND HE CAME HOME WITH MUCH MORE THAN THE LIST REQUIRED.  WE WERE A SINGLE COUPLE THEN AND WHO NEEDS 3 LBS RED HOTDOGS AND A 25 LB BAG OF FLOUR.  I DID VERY LITTLE BAKING AT ALL BACK THEN.  AND OTHER STUFF WE RARELY ATE.  NO, IT DID NOT WORK OUT FOR US.
MY SON HAS A NEW HOME UNDER CONTRACT.  ITS IN THE NEXT TOWN SO HE WILL LIVE CLOSER TO ME.  A BRAND NEW 2-STORY HOME, 3 BEDROOMS, 2 1/2 BATHS, ON .2 ACRES WITH ALL STAINLESS STEEL APPLIANCES BUT THEY HAVE TO BUY THEIR OWN WASHER AND DRYER.  A LARGE BACK DECK AND NICE BIG YARD.  SOD IS DOWN, NO GRASS YET.  THE PICTURE LOOKS NICE.  I TOLD HIM NOT TO WORRY, I HAVE NO PLANS TO MOVE IN WITH THEM.  HE TOLD ME THE BEDROOMS WERE ALL UPSTAIRS SO IT WOULDN'T WORK FOR ME AND I CAME BACK WITH "BUT I CAN ALWAYS PUT IN A CHAIR LIFT."  OF COURSE, I NEVER WOULD DO THAT.  MY NEXT MOVE WILL BE TO A NURSING HOME PROBABLY.  I WILL POST A PICTURE LATER.
TODAY IS VEGGIE BEEF SOUP DAY.  I HAVE 3 NEIGHBORS ON MY LIST ALREADY WHO WILL SHARE.  ITS A GOOD DAY FOR IT.
STAY SAFE EVERYONE.  HUGS, QB S

Afternoon y'all!
Not much happening here!  I am getting my mind right to bring plants inside.  It will get close to freezing tonight, some of my plants are tropical and cannot handle that.  I left them out in the current cold weather so they could get the rain we have had.  It is so much better than me watering!
Luke is back to lay-off status.  "Friends" park money is done.  Being a smaller park, they don't bring in the funds for the "friends" group to be able to support them longer.  So now he is going stir crazy with nothing to do!
Sara is still working on her Thesis.  It will be the next semester for her to defend it.  The machine breaking down and funding has been a problem!  She will finish!
Alex survived his interview!  He is in the wait to hear the next step stage.
Simba, is a hand-full.  He has established his routine and we are to follow it!  LOL! He keeps us on our toes!
I am still trying to get myself into a routine, again.  It seems over the last few years, every time I establish a routine, something comes along to mess it up!  I should be able to get one going now!
Hubby and I have been making a to-do list.  We have had so much stuff fall to the wayside.  When we ask each other what needs to be done there is so much that we cannot recall what needs to be done, so we made a list.  We have even crossed some items off said list!  That really felt good!
I guess I need to start pulling in plants!
Later my Friends!

Sandra, the house looks nice, not real huge, which is good. When do they move in?
Theresa, after your last few years, it must be good to quiet down!
Janet, when Ralph retired and I was still working, he’d food shop if I made a list. Once I retired, we do it together.
The rain blew thru, we got about 2 inches. Tomorrow’s supposed to be really windy.
My ravioli and meatballs in the crockpot came out good. I had added some fresh spinach. We have enough for tomorrow, and he’s considering freezing a portion or two.
Only 8 weeks til Christmas, yikes! I give everyone money, but like to also get them a bonus gift or two.

Holly, this year I am giving all the grandkids  money too.  I will also get them one gift.  Last year my grands from Columbus returned everything, so I will not shop again.  I absolutely hate shopping, so now I will have a good excuse not to do it.  I still feel sort of weird doing this, but the kids only really want money.
It has rained or drizzled all day and the leaves have come off of the trees in droves.
The repair shop called me with an estimate today.  He asked about the bobbin and said it does not look like an  original Janome bobbin.  I do not remember ever getting a different bobbin, but I bought this machine in 2001, so perhaps they have changed?  I did change it once to do some sewing with the bobbin that brings up the bobbin thread to the top, but did not do that well at all.  lol.  I only tried it a couple of times.  I told him their shop did this exact repair 2 years ago and he got sort of quiet.
Sandra, congrats to Matt on buying a new home.

Can't believe I haven't been here this week!!!
It's been a busy one, caught up with my brother ( and sis) and spent some time with him a couple days, he's not well, but hanging in there.
SANDRA WOW!! wonderful news for Matt and Daphne, it looks like a great house for them, and you would be welcome I'm sure  but I suspect you feel more comfortable with your own space. I think INDY meant that you have started things in your building, sharing the food, then being part of the pot luck, it all started with YOU (((hugs)))) generous soul that you are
INDY that long drive sure does take it's toll, we find that each time we drive north, it's about 500 miles. And if we do it straight through I'm stiff from sitting so long, we stop every couple hours, but still a long day, and WONDERFUL to be in your own bed that night LOL
DEVONNE HAPPY BIRTHDAY I know it's really your tomorrow, but it's today here, so I didn't want to forget. Sorry you didn't get to see inside the house, it was special to me to be able to see my old home when it was sold, so many memories, and I had Pete to share it with that day. He remembers the house well too.
JANET sorry you won't be able to go to the retreat, I can't send the Mr to shop, he needs a detailed list of where to get everything, UNELSS it's his popcorn, nasty stuff, I rarely buy it, but he can find that LOL even after they changed the layout of the store he still found it, a nose that can smell out  junk food that one !!
HOLLY I love that you have made some bowl warmers, we use them all the time, I didn't have a template, just used the size square I wanted, then marked the darts at 2 1/2" and 1" from the fold. I did anything from 10" to 15" squares, they have been very popular gifts. I also am giving money, makes the shopping easier, but I do want to find a gift for the boys, I just want them to open something Christmas day!
CHERYL the same here for machines, our mechanic only works 2 days a week at the store, so it might be a few days or a couple weeks, I hope they can fix the machine, if it's the same fault do you have the paperwork, I usually keep it in a pocket of the travel bag I use for the machine, never lose it that way. My Pfaff has special bobbins, I dislike the ones that are prewound, I think I can use them in my machine, but it really doesn't take that long to wind them, and the special bobbins hold a lot of thread, I use the equivalent of Aurifil 50wt. Pretty thin and works well, just tossed out the last of the Gutterman I had for hand sewing, it was knotting up all the time with the binding sewing.
I had a tiring week, it's nice it's Friday and I can relax, the Mr went to get the skin cancer on his leg seen to, Leo decided not to cut after all, just to freeze it, now W has to drive a way to pick up the new set of bowls he ordered, at least an hour with toll ways, but he wanted to save money and not use the tolls, silly man, it saves on petrol as well as time, well worth it -  but his choice, he'll be stiff after lots of driving.
Megan & Gary have gone away for the weekend, they are getting a lot of use from the new caravan, they are only an hour or so north, but they enjoy the few days to relax, Dean is heading to a party tonight, I might need to take him there, he's staying overnight. Either John or I will pick him up tomorrow.
I took a pic of the quilt, almost finished sewing on the binding. Just 1/2 a sided to go, I'll log in from the iPad to do that, the desk top doesn't like that site LOL I'll add a pic of us "girls" at the 100yr anniversary.
I got a couple pairs of casual shoes this morning when I went to get my nails done, my others are showing their age, and these are so comfortable, and I can wear them with slacks, jeans or dresses, will be good to take on the cruise - safe soles and feel like slippers.
