Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

I just enjoyed a nice catch-up read.  You all are busy and active and happy-sounding.  I'm sort of out of pocket this week, preparing for the group on Friday.  The Roomba swept the floors this morning.  It's recharging the battery  right now and still has the sunroom to finish.  Howard manages it as it requires the internet and his phone to work.  He'll mop the kitchen and dining area.  I've managed to slop lots of tomato juice drips, somehow.

Yesterday, at her insistence, ML came over and transformed my kitchen which, once again, was a partial mess.  She thought that would give me a leg up and it really has.  I'm so grateful.  Part of the time she was working in here, I was out on our long front porch hosing off  the debris and dirt that Howard had powered washed off the siding, earlier.  It was long overdue.  We were thankful for a nice hot summer day to do this.
So, little by little we're getting this place ready for company.  My food will be easy.  Sloppy joes and they'll bring the rest.  As you can tell, I have a one-track mind this week.

As for the USPS,  Howard is often,(mostly) disgusted with them.  He always checks the delivery schedule app and most things do not arrive on the day they're supposed to. Even junk mail which he just throws away.  Janet, your P.O.  saga is insane!

Trish, are you busier with your grands than you were with your own kids?  I know they're all grateful  and I also know you love being close to help out and, yes, close proximity is a big perk.  I love hearing about your and everyone's families...and pets!

QB, Cabin Creek was or still is? a ladies clothes brand, not just jackets.  It's been so long, I can't remember how I first got started with it, but eventually, we got an outlet store nearby which was a real perk.  This jacket is a thrift store find that, of course, didn't fit me, but I love the fabric and am remodeling it.  As always, we'll see how it turns out...

Well, I need to carry on and replace the things I moved for the Roomba.  Maybe this time, I'll be ahead of instead of behind the game.  ML, as always, is coming Friday morning to help with last minute things.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Sandra, I will have to check out that ceramic stove top scraper as the oven door on my stove is a mess.  Dean cleaned it  last year with a straight edged razor blade and cleaned it up nice.  It needs it again as I can barely see into the oven thru the glass.

As for my machine issue, I did indeed clean the bobbin area, put in a new needle, changed out my bobbin case since I have two of them and changed my bobbin thread.  I was using that skinny bobbin thread (maybe a 60 wt?) and I changed to the same thread as I was sewing with before the issue.  I was sewing along then all jams.  My need will not even come up out of the bobbin case after threading.  Sigh.

Judy, Aaron and Katie have a Roomba too, but unfortunately, they have too much stuff on the floor for it to work it's job.  They are so messy it irritates me.  Katie seems to be somewhat of a hoarder with everything.  Not my house, but I hate that my grandkids live in such clutter...drives me crazy.  Enough said, seem like all I have been doing is complaining, so will stop.

Dean and I walked 2 miles today and it wore me out.  I think I should be able to do that easy enough after two years of walking, but not so.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

INDY I hope you have a great time with the group, and don't wear yourself out too much (((hugs))) I don't really do too much with the boys really, just the exams time, I volunteer to drop off and pick up, they never ask, and I enjoy it -  just time to have a chat with him as well.

SANDRA I should have thought to tell you about the scrapers, I have one but rarely use it now, my cleaner gets it all off really easy. Not too much elbow grease either. I love the scraper, mine has a slide kind of function to cover the blade, those things are really sharp, be careful -  I know to my cost HOW sharp they are LOL

CHERYL I haven't got a roomba, but my sis and her families have them, I just couldn't be bothered, too late to train me now LOL I just do it the hard way
Sorry about the machine, I got rid of my Bernina, I think it was  a lemon, I couldn't even give it to someone, it was an expensive machine too, bought the same time as the Janome new tile came out, with the IDT like Pfaff

DEVONNE you are doing so well with all that you do!! Put me to shame, I have done nothing today but I will be pulling the bedroom apart on the weekend The new bed comes on Tuesday. I am thinking of stripping it and we can just sleep on the mattress with one sheet and a quit to night before, get the mattress protector and electric blanket  off and then it will be easier to move out in the morning, they will give me a time the day before, but the Mr goes to bowls and will leave early.

I had a win tonight, I had 4lbs of lamb leg chops in the freezer, plenty of veg, a jar of mussaman curry paste and cans of coconut milk and cream also tomatoes. I got it all in the slow cooker, added some fish sauce ( my original recipe has that ) and let it go all day, it could have been a disaster, but was really good

John will be here tomorrow so he will make the  leftovers smaller The boy can eat I - I had some cake in the fridge, packed it up and drove around, messaged BOTH boys that there would be cake at the front door, within a millisecond I heard John bounding down the stairs big grin and "Thanks Nana come in" I didn't though, just dropped it off to them. apparently quite a bit was gone before Megan got home.
Dean had today studying at home, then 2 exams tomorrow, so I will try to get him to eat before we leave.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Sandra, I ordered that scraper from Amazon, will come today.

It’s cloudy and breezy today, only in the 60’s. It was so great for sleeping!

We tackled both freezers. I have several packages of popsicles of various kinds that I’d bought for Manda’s kids that didn’t get used, so I have them all together for Heather to take home. And just by moving things around, I cleared some space.

We have lunch today with “the nurses” which is down to us and one nurse.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Those scrapers are a big help! I use mine mostly on my glass top stove.

I've been slowly shampooing carpet. It's a lightweight shampooer and doesn't hold much water, so it takes much longer. No hurry and I rest when needed. I like one hallway and I'll be finished. I'm not doing the other two bedrooms and my sewing room as they don't need it.

It's supposedly "heavy rain" outside now, but I haven't seen any yet. We are under an air quality alert.

I ordered a Dash mini waffle maker. Decided not to get the one that makes four at a time. Takes up too much space and the mini is so quick, you can make 8-12 in no time if you wanted to freeze chaffles. I got the waffle one to make chaffle bread.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Devonne, I have the mini Dash waffle maker and like it alot.  Actually Amelia got it for Christmas a couple of years ago and left it at my house.  I don't like those frozen Eggo waffles, so we make home made ones up in a jiffy with the Dash.  We use the recipe that was in the box.  Then I freeze them  between waxed paper and pull them as needed.  So much tastier than the frozen ones.

We need to clean our carpet area once again, but we rent a shampooer since ours went on the fritz a couple years ago.  My sweet hubby does all the heavy work with the cleaner and I "help as needed".  I refill the water and soap for him.

Another lovely day, but now the weatherman says our area is in an actual drought.  I wonder what that means for the snowfall?  Hopefully the same, since I really don't like driving in it any more since I got old.

Sandra, that oven door looks sparkling clean!  I must get one of those scrapers.  Will look on Amazon tomorrow.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Our power was out for almost 2 hours, 800 people with no power. So happy it’s back on.

I got my ceramic scraper from Amazon, just came.

It’s nice out, after a couple days of rain.

THE LAST BOOK I ORDERED CAME THIS MORNING.  I SHALL BE BUSY READING WHEN I'M RESTING BETWEEN CHORES.
WENT TO CRAFTS THIS MORNING.  FINISHED THE FISHES WH THAT READS "BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE" AND STARTED HAND-QUILTING MY VICTORIAN LADY.  THAT SHOULD KEEP ME BUSY FOR A FEW WEEKS AT CRAFTS.  ITS FUN HAND-QUILTING AGAIN BUT THOSE SHARPS NEEDLES HAVE FINE EYES AND SOMETIMES I STRUGGLE TO THREAD THEM.  I FIND THAT IF I CUT MY THREAD AT A 45-DEGREE ANGLE, IT SLIPS THRU THE EYE SO MUCH EASIER.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Finally finished the shampooing and I don't plan to ever do this again! I've been looking at LVP flooring colors and what is the best. There are soooo many choices and I'm not good with making decisions. Will probably be next Spring before I get it installed.

I'm waiting for Walmart to text me my Vitamin D prescription is ready. I already have my store list made. I'm going to the store this time instead of delivery. I need to visit the spice aisle.

It's hot here today and tomorrow will be 87. Next week will be a little cooler.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Where is everybody? I'm surprised no one has posted since I did yesterday at 12:30.

I washed my memory foam rug in my bathroom and it's not a memory foam rug anymore. Just flat...who knew washing them would remove the memory foam.

Headed to Goodwill to look around and then to Walmart to get in some steps.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

It’s going to be in the upper 80’s today, yikes!

It’s fall. Jersey has lots and lots of oak trees, and the acorns are falling constantly. Sounds like someone throwing rocks outside, so noisy. All night long, so loud it wakes me up!

Devonne, I never have any luck washing bathroom rugs, and I dry them on a rack.

I’m bagging up clothes that are too big, to donate. And moving things around, to tidy up. The knees were complaining, so I have to sit for a bit.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

DO YOU KNOW WHAT IRISH BULL IS?  LET ME SHOW YOU......
1.  AN IRISHMAN IS NEVER AT PEACE EXCEPT WHEN HE'S FIGHTING.
2.  AN IRISHMAN WILL DIE BEFORE LETTING HIMSELF BE BURIED OUTSIDE OF IRELAND.

ITS ANOTHER LOVELY DAY.

DIANE......I HOPE YOU HAD A PLEASANT BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY.  MAYBE EATING OUT?  OR GETTING TAKEOUT?   OR JUST A SIMPLE CARD THAT SOMEONE REMEMBERED?  HUGS GIRL.

I HAVE MORE SEWING PLANS TODAY.  I GOT IN MY LAPS THIS MORNING THEN PRESSED SOME FABRICS FOR MY CAROUSEL HORSE.  WILL START TACKING PIECES DOWN FOR THAT TODAY AND HOPEFULLY WORK MORE ON SNOOPY.
I ALSO HAVE COOKING TO DO TODAY FOR THE WEEKEND.  I HAVE EVERYTHING ON THE COUNTER THAT I NEED EXCEPT FOR THE REFRIGERATED ITEMS.  ALL SET TO START.   MY STEW BEEF I LIKE TO SIMMER IN MY BROTH ABOUT 2 TO 2 1/2 HRS BEFORE ADDING THE TATERS, CARROTS AND SO FORTH.  I LIKE MY BEEF REALLY TENDER AND FOR US OLD FOLKS HERE, TENDER IS A MUST.  NO CHEWING NEEDED.
I ALSO WANT TO GET IN SOME JIGSAWING AND READING AGAIN TODAY SO I HAVE A FULL SCHEDULE TODAY.  A WOMAN'S WORK IS NEVER DONE.

AS TO BATH RUGS, I FIND THE SAME PROBLEM.  THEY ARE NEVER THE SAME AFTER A WASH.  I, TOO, HANG MINE OVER THE ROD TO DRY AND THEY STILL LOSE THEIR SHAPE.  I GUESS THE MAKERS WANT US TO KEEP BUYING NEW REPLACEMENTS.

HAVE A LOVELY DAY MY FRIENDS.  HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

It was 84 today; hot for September for sure.  We did get a brief, and I mean brief, rain fall.  Maybe 1 minute.  Supposed to get rain next week.

Holly, Dean and I just noticed all the acorns already here too.  We noticed them while walking in the park the yesterday. Lots of little ones all over the ground.

Speaking of little ones, we had a little deer come thru our backyard all alone.  He/she still had some little spots but no sign of mom or other deer at all.  He drank at the bird water area and then ran into the side woods and across the road to the neighbors.  We looked for a while but alas, no other deer, poor little thing.

Sandra, I make my beef stew the same as you; simmer that meat for a couple of hours before adding the veggies.  yummy .

I did not order the stove scraper yet since I needed nothing else from Amazon.  Will put it in a cart and will order later.

Devonne, I think the Goodwill prices are way too high these days.  I have not bought anything from them for a long while, it seems to be cheaper when I can find similar things on sale in the stores.

Dean was summoned for jury duty today.  The daughter of my friend just ended a 3 month grand jury assignment.  She had to report every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9-3.  She is a single young women who lives alone.  I asked how she got her work done.  She does work a lot from home, but flies all over the country to meet with clients.  Joyce said she looked at emails and texts while on breaks and then did calling or emailing when she got home.  Three months is a long time, what do people do who have to work?  I could not have done my school administrative assistant job and would have had to take a leave.

We're home!  I will have to read over the weekend, and I'm sure Theresa has as many stories to share as I do.  5,168 miles on my car.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Welcome back CAROL and THERESA my goodness, that is a lot of miles, so glad you are both safe home again!!

DEVONNE that is quite a lot of work for you, hope you have recovered now, I like the 'fake' wood floors, so little to do to keep them looking good, ours can be ever so lightly sanded to give them a new lease of life, we haven't done that, I'd rather replace. Our carpet is good in our bedrooms, and the tiles in bathrooms, easy to clean too! I have a great cleaner and 'refresh' polish a bit like you do to the slate flooring, apply and let dry, it does smell but not too bad LOL

SANDRA lots of cooking in your future, I have had leftovers for a few nights, we go to the club on Friday nights, and tonight (Sat) it was again leftovers. Enjoy your reading, I have also been working on a puzzle, I am stuck looking for a piece, hope it's not missing. I suspect it's still in the box with all the other "colour" pieces, I am doing sky and clouds so it might turn up.

STRINGS so good to hear you are OK, and HAPPY BiRTHDAY to Daryl.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANE , so sorry I am late, I totally forgot (((hugs)))

HOLLY sorry about the power outage, at least it wan't for too long, and nothing to toss. Awful when you have to toss food out, mostly when the freezer/fridge happens to be full.

CHERYL OH NO not more  jury duty, do you get paid, that would help. I pity the people who work full time, the allowance they give you here isn't your full wage, but the company you work for usually pays the difference, not always though. Makes it very difficult.

I was thinking about the acorns falling, in the UK ( here and there too I guess) there are horse chestnut trees, not sure of the real name, they have 'conkers' and you and make detergent out of them, not for eating, they grow in cool climates so NOT here, but south of us would have them.

I had a busy day, I was going to the quilt show this weekend, was going to go on Sunday but found out - luckily - that it finished today - odd, they usually go from Thursday to Sunday, but not this year, some quite unusual quilts, one very well done by a HSC student, so probably about 18yo as it's the final year of school. Some beautiful work, and of course some quilts you wonder why and how they let them exhibit, there were a lot by  a Japanese group, so beautiful, not anything to tempt me to buy today though, well a lot I could buy, but I am trying to declutter NOT add to the stash they were some but I don't need another project, lots of needlework, and a big collection of fabrics for $10 metre, quite alot I could have bought, but I remained strong and just bought a cold drink and small cake.

I had been to training, and I was so tired, still am tonight so heading to bed shortly, worked out hard this morning, then walking around the quilt show LOL I need to sleep.

See you tomorrow

(((hugs))) and prayers
