Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

It's getting late on Sunday night for me, got home from our Fathers Day dinner - it was an early one as they had lots of booking for later, but almost 8pm now, they came back to ours for a bit after dinner, the boys are tired, lots of yard work for them all on the weekend, and John and Gary have to be up at 5am for work.

Megan chopped down the Japanese Maple - she is so sad to see it go, but it's got into the sewer pipes. The front garden has been dug down, so now comes the part the plumber is involved in - fingers crossed that it's not too expensive for them.

SANDRA I hope Matt feels better soon, and he stays away if he's not well, I know he will look after you though. I think you should look into having your stories published - at least give them to your kids to see if they want to publish. Warwick's mother wrote a book about the family, David had it published and everyone got a copy. Maybe you could do similar - a book of short stories.

DEVONNE I hope you feel better - getting the right dose for the right outcome is important, but sometimes the side affects are horrid (((hugs)))

BJ I hope you get some answers too - having pain is no fun (((hugs)))

I undid some pieces in the top I made for my sis, the colours needed changing, so I was swapping 2 large squares and changing a small square - well guess what - I put them back the same, so had to unpick - again - and redo! So frustrating, couldn't believe I did that, I was pinning them so carefully LOL

I had a margarita pizza tonight, brought 1/2 home - it was just OK, not like the one I had last week, a soggy bottom in the middle, and too much cheese. Still I didn't have to cook dinner or clean up after, so I'll take the soggy bottom LOL

See you tomorrow, the Mr has booked his car for service - he thinks, he didn't reply to their text till after closing on Friday, so I suspect he'll call me to say they aren't doing it. I will go there to  him to bring him home, and he'll use my car to go to his exercise group, as long as he's home for my yoga!!

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

MANGLED MODIFIERS.....
1.  AS A BABOON WHO GREW UP WILD IN THE JUNGLE, I REALIZED THAT 'WIKI HAD SPECIAL NUTRITIONAL NEEDS.
2.  IN 1979, WE BOUGHT MAJORITY CONTROL OF THE COMPANY'S STOCK, ALONG WITH HIS MOTHER.

YIPPEE!  WE GOT RAIN AT LAST.  ITS ONLY 58 BUT A LOVELY DAY.

MY SON IS OFF DOING MY SHOPPING.  HE'S BETTER TODAY AND SINCE ITS THE START OF FOOTBALL OR SOMETHING, HE WENT EARLY TODAY.  HE'S FEELING BETTER BUT NOT LOOKING 100% YET.

I HAVE BEEN DRAWING SOME SNOOPY FIGURES TO MAKE DOOR HANGINGS.  SO FAR I'VE SKETCHED 4.  I SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE A SAYING FOR MY DOOR OUT OF AT LEAST ONE OF THEM.

ITS A SLOW DAY FOR ME BEING MY DAY OF REST.  NOT MUCH ON THE CHORE LIST.  THE SOUP IS MADE AND THAT WILL SUFFICE FOR LUNCH FOR SON AND I TODAY.  FOR SUPPER I'M THINKING OF NATHAN'S BEEF FRANKS ON ROLLS.  I HAVEN'T HAD THEM FOR AWHILE AND I LIKE THEM.

WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.   HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

My roses and azaleas are blooming again. This is the 3rd time they have bloomed and the last time for the year.

I got my bathrooms cleaned today and some pictures hung. I started the guest bathroom 3 weeks ago, lol.

I've been doing really good the last 4 days on not overeating.

Low Carb/No Crust Pizza Bake

low sugar/low carb marinara sauce - 20-24 oz
ground beef - 1 lb.
italian sausage - 1 lb.
purple onion
green peppers
mushrooms
pepperoni
black olives
ricotta cheese or cheese of your choice

Cook the meat. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Add the sauce, more garlic and onion powder, then stir in all the other ingredients. If too thick, add bone broth or a little water. Add ricotta cheese and mozzerella cheese, bake at 375 for 20 minutes, Add some red pepper flakes and drizzle with honey (I will omit the honey and pepperoni). Omit/add ingredients you like. I'm trying it this week.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

Sandra, it is a slow day for me also.  I read quite a bit today.  Cleaned the fronts of my kitchen cabinets and dishwasher.  Ran a quick broom over the kitchen floor.  That is it.

I cut some of my scrap fabrics into 2.5, 5 and 10 inch squares so I will have them for different projects.  I seem to have no bottom to those scrap piles!  I use a lot of them but every time I look them over, there is still a lot there.  And, at the price of fabric these days, I do not waste any.

We had left over fish and veggies for supper.  I made some flourless muffins and Dean and I liked them.  Oatmeal, ripe bananas, flax seed, chocolate chips,  maple syrup and vanilla.  I put way too many chocolate chips in it, so will actually follow the recipe next time as it said 1 cup.  I dumped the remainder of my bag of chips and it was too much.  I will definitely make them again.  Quite filling.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

We got a lot of rain yesterday and today. Rain stopped at 2 or so, but humidity is still 80%, so AC is still on.

We had lunch at Applebee’s with F and C. She said it’s getting harder for her to dry her feet and in between her toes after bathing. She was shocked when Ralph and I both said we’ve never dried between our toes. Do you dry between your toes?

I’m working on table runner #1 for Manda, I have it laid out. Tomorrow I’ll see if I want to change anything, then start sewing.

The HVAC guys are coming tomorrow to check out the heater, we have a yearly contract with them.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

SIGNS OF THE TIMES.......
1.  IN A MAINE RESTAURANT:   OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK AND WEEKENDS.
2.  IN A NEW JERSEY RESTAURANT:  OPEN 11 A.M. TO 11  PM. MIDNIGHT.

LOVELY DAY TODAY AFTER A DAY OF RAIN THAT WAS MUCH NEEDED.  IT DROPPED TO LOW 40S LAST NITE SO FALL IS AROUND THE CORNER.

HOLLY......NO, I DO NOT DRY BETWEEN MY TOES.  I STEP OUT ONTO THE BATHMAT THEN DROP A TOWEL ON THE FLOOR IN FRONT OF THE MIRROR.  I JUST DRY FROM THE SHIN UPWARDS.  THEN AFTER DRESSING, I REMAIN BAREFOOTED FOR THE DAY UNLESS I GO OUTSIDE MY APT.

DEVONNE....IS THERE NO CRUST TO THIS PIZZA?  WHAT HOLDS IT TOGETHER?

TODAY I AM DEFROSTING SOME GROUND BEEF.  HAVING HALF A BOWL OF CKN RICE SOUP FOR LUNCH NOW AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT FOR SUPPER.  BUT NOT ANYTHING TOO MUCH.  I EVEN ENJOYED MY FROSTED CHEERIOS LAST NITE WHICH I BOUGHT FOR SNACKING, A LITTLE BIT TOO MUCH.  THEY ARE GOOD.

MY DARLING SON SURPRISED ME YESTERDAY.  HE BROUGHT ME A LOBSTER ROLL  WITH FRIES AND ANOTHER ORDER FOR MY NEIGHBOR MICHELLE.  I PAID HIM FOR HERS THEN GAVE HERS AS EARLY XMAS GIFT.  THEY WERE 31.31 EACH.  A LOT BUT IT WAS OVER-LOADED WITH LOBSTER MEAT.  I COULD HAVE WEEDED SOME OFF FOR A 2ND ROLL BUT DIDN'T.  I WAS A PIG.  LOVED IT.  SAVED HALF THE FRIES THO FOR SUPPER WITH HOT DOGS.
I DID MY LAPS THIS MORNING AND TOOK OUT MY RECYLES AND EVEN CUT SOME BORDER FABRICS.  I THINK I MAY SEW THIS AFTERNOON.  I NEED TO GET MY VICTORIAN LADY BORDERED AND LAYERED FOR HAND QUILTING AT CRAFTS ON THURSDAY.  THEN THERE ARE THE 2 DOOR HANGINGS THAT NEED MACHINE-QUILTING AND FINISHING SO I CAN USE THEM.  I HAVE SO MANY DRAWINGS NOW I WILL HAVE TO DECIDE WHICH TO TACKLE FOR MY NEXT PROJECT.   ITS TOUGH WHEN ONE HAS TOO MANY CHOICES.  THIS IS WHERE I REALLY MISS MY GUY.  HE WAS ALWAYS ABLE TO HELP ME MAKE THESE DECISIONS.  HE COULD ADVISE ME AND IT WOULD BE RIGHT.  ME, I TAKE TOO LONG TO DECIDE AND CHANGE MY MIND A FEW TIMES, TOO.
AH WELL, THE DAY WILL PROCEED AND NO GREAT SHAKES SO I WILL NOT WORRY ABOUT IT NOW.  I HAVE TO CATCH UP ON A FEW TV PROGRAMS I RECORDED AS WELL AND THERE'S A BOOK TO READ.  I THINK I WILL ORDER SOME NEW ONES FROM THRIFTBOOKS
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

Tearing my hair out this morning trying to figure out which doc to call re:  Howard's inhaler(s).  I won't  bore you all with the details and  I'm not sure what to even ask, BUT I have a call in to the pulmonoligist's nurse.

This is the start of two very busy weeks, some fun--lunch tomorrow with Carol and Albert and the birthday dinner for our 99 yr. old friend on Wed. evening and much other busy work preparing for having the Bible Study group here on the 19th. Plus all the daily aggravations.  Right now...I don't want to deal with any of it!

I do like QB except no barefooting, ever, anymore.  Due to history of  plantar fasciitis, and cold feet and ankles.

Trish, it sounds like you're a bit overwhelmed right now.  You must have been pre-occupied when doing the piecing--not like you to mess up, twice!  Hope things settle down for you and yours...

Devonne, let us know how that "pizza" was.  I was a bit confused, too.  We're trying to change our way of eating  and we're not doing very well, so far.  Didn't help that ML brought over pumpkin roll for us.  It was Andrew's pick for his birthday "cake".  She was sorry she asked him what he wanted!  But, of course, it was yummy.

Cheryl, Howard won't eat avocado, either, with the same reaction you have.  I love it in guac but since it's only me that eats it,  most often I  eat it plain with a little salt.

With that, I'm going to see what I can find for lunch.  Have a great day...
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

Guess who has diarrhea and needed a bath when my energy is zapped, lol! I put meds in her food and she gobbled it right up. She loved the bath. Odd that I only have one dog now.

I have lost 8 lbs. in four days, a first for me. I assume it's mostly water loss? I was shocked when I got on the scales this morning. I only weigh once a week. I think the intermittent fasting is a big help.

Judy, I ordered the ingredients and will be fixing the pizza bake later this week. She used marinara sauce, but I'm not a fan, so bought pizza sauce.

I have never bought mushrooms so I had to read how to cook them. I read the brown ones are more flavorful for pizza dishes. Are the mushrooms pieces in a can ok for a pizza? I got fresh baby "b....something" and the canned pieces. I only like mushrooms in spaghetti and on a pizza.

2.  SURVIVOR OF SIAMESE TWINS JOINS PARENTS.

NICE DAY.  MOSTLY 60S TODAY BUT MAY HIT 71.   LOVELY WEATHER.

DEVONNE......CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WEIGHT LOSS.  THE FIRST LBS ARE THE EASIEST BUT STICK WITH IT.  YOU WILL GET DOWN MORE I'M SURE.

NOTHING EXCITING HAPPENING TODAY PER USUAL.  I MAY SEW A BIT AND DO MORE READING.  I ORDERED SOME BOOKS THAT WILL KEEP ME HAPPY SO THAT'S A GOOD THING.
TODAY I MAY MAKE A MEATY  SAUCE WITH PASTA.  I HAVE A BIT OF LEFTOVERS TO FINISH.  AND THERE'S MY WATERMELON TO CUT AND ENJOY TODAY.
MAYBE EVEN SOME CRIBBAGE TO PLAY TODAY IF THE GALS ARE ALL OVER THEIR ISSUES.  CROSSING MY FINGERS FOR THEM.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

Starting again, I got booted off, power went out, the electrician is here, and I should have been told, at least I could have saved my post as far as I got
He's still here, I've been to the meat market and got fresh veg/fruit and MUSHROOMS DEVONNE
as well as some meat, back now and he's still here, he's a talker, I won't have him here again, he is retired and it was a small job, but he and W are still yakking!!! Probably be here for a while yet.

BJ I am so sorry your leg is still painful, I know your family will be investigating ((((hugs))))

SANDRA my mouth was watering when you talked about lobster rolls, so delish!! I can almost taste the ones we got in NH, they were pricy then, but no where near as much as $30 YIKES!! Enjoy playing with your fabric, looking forward to seeing what you have done.

I hope that CAROL and THERESA are having fun, it will be so hard to NOT be running after your mum THERESA, you have done it for so long.

INDY I was distracted I think, I did have some relax time with the unpicker LOL I put on a DVD and watched, it was probably more time efficient to make another top LOL I hope the issues at home get themselves sorted

I did my groc order when I got home, I was planning to do it after posting this morning, now it's after 12, so I missed my time slot, BUT good news for me, I can pay an extra $5 to have it within the hour, works for me!!
I wanted it by 1-2pm and the slot closed, then the new one of 2-3pm closed also, then it was gong to be 5-6pm. The $5 is money well spent for me
Supposed to be storming this afternoon and evening, so I'd rather have it now.

I have  completely lost track of what I wanted to comment on so I'll sign off!

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

BJ, I hope your leg feels better today. Hugs and love.

Today is Carter's 14th birthday. His birthday is 9-10-11; isn't that neat! I bought a lighted aspen tree that has clips on it and I made him a money tree. This is the first year he won't have an actual birthday party. He wanted to go to a sushi place with his mom and dad.

Has anyone made a chaffle or even heard of them, lol? I've made them 3 times in the last week. They are really good. The main ingredients are 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and one egg. It makes two chaffles. I'll post some pictures later. I think I'm addicted to them! I added sugar free maple syrup to the ones I had this morning.

I went to the ENT yesterday and I need hearing aids. I have known for the past two years my hearing has gotten worse. They are so expensive, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

Good Morning to everyone.  My left knee is still very sore, can't get around very easily.  Don't have a Dr. appt. until the 22nd.  God, I could be dead by then!!!!  Oh well,  I'll likely survive.

It is very cloudy today and 60* outside.  Well, I really don't have anything else to say so will sign off, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

SICK NOTES FROM HOME......
1.  MY DAUGHTER WAS ABSENT FROM SCHOOL YESTERDAY BECAUSE SHE WAS TIRED.  SHE SPENT THE WEEKEND WITH THE MARINE'S.
2.  PLEASE EXCUSE FRED FOR BEING ABSENT.  HE HAD A COLD AND COULD NOT BREED WELL.

LOVELY DAY HERE BUT IN THE 60S.  FALL IS COMING.

DEVONNE......I HAVE TERRIBLE HEARING LOSS.  MY LEFT EAR IS NOT USEFUL AT ALL.  I CANNOT AFFORD THE COST OF HEARING AIDS SO I USE AN AMPLIFIER, THE WILLIAMS POCKTALKER. WHICH I BOUGHT FROM libertyhealthsupply.com AND  IT WORKS BETTER THAN 2 TYPES OF THE CHEAPER HEARING AIDS I TRIED.  IT COSTS UNDER $200 RIGHT HOW.    IT TAKES 2 DOUBLE A BATTERIES AND THEY LAST ABOUT 20 DAYS.  ITS  A LOT CHEAPER THAN BUYING THE COSTLY ONES.  ONE HAS TO MAKE DO WHEN ON A SMALL FIXED INCOME.
I WISH YOU LUCK WITH YOUR HUNT FOR SOME THAT WILL WORK WONDERS FOR YOU.  GOOD LUCK.

I SPENT A GOOD PART OF THE MORNING QUILTING MY 2 DOOR HANGINGS.  THEN WHEN I TRIED TO COME HERE, MY PUTER WAS NOT LETTING ME OPEN AT ALL.  IN THE END I RESTARTED THE DARN THING AND THAT TAKES QUITE  WHILE ON THIS PUTER.  BUT I AM HERE AT LAST.

I ORDERED MORE BOOKS YESTERDAY MAINLY BECAUSE I DID NOT NOTICE THAT ONE OF THE DOROTHY GILMAN BOOKS I WANTED I FORGOT TO ORDER THE DAY BEFORE.  NOW I WILL HAVE ALL 14 OF THAT SERIES.  I ALSO ADDED A COUPLE MORE BOOKS TO THE LIST AND GOT A FREEBIE ON THAT ORDER AS WELL AND IF YOU ORDER MORE THAN $15 WORTH FROM THRIFTBOOKS THE SHIPPING IS FREE.  I SHOULD BE BURIED IN BOOKS SOON.

ITS BINGO NITE TONITE SO I HOPE I WIN SOMETHING.  SEND ME A V
FEW GOOD VIBES LADIES.
I ALSO PLAN TO MAKE SOME MEATY SAUCE THIS AFTERNOON SO ITS READY FOR ME FOR SUPPER AFTER BINGO TONITE.  I HAVE TO COOK THAT GROUND BEEF TODAY.

THAT'S ABOUT IT LADIES.  I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY. QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

BJ, I'm so sorry for the pain you're having with your leg/knee.  Would some Tylenol help, do you think?  I take two arthritis-strength each morning and they do help some.

Tonight we are going to the fancy steakhouse to celebrate our friend's 99th birthday, which is tomorrow. Steak is his favorite meal and his two daughters treat him and us to whatever we wish to order off the menu.  Also, they insist that we have dessert--either to eat there or take home for later.  It's a fun time and he's a gem.  They are all wealthy so this isn't a hardship on them and it's what they want to do.  You'll laugh, but both Howard and I have our clothes laid out  already.

Happy birthday to Carter, Devonne. Interesting how the young ones love sushi.  Andrew, too.  (We're all leery of raw fish.)   I have a friend who left this world on that same day for a Better Place.  When I had trouble remember the exact date, her daughter told me  9-10-11   Our granddaughter was born on 9-8-98, which is also a neat number.  I've never heard of chaffles.
Do you make them in a waffle iron?

S'pose I'd better eat a bite of lunch.  Not too much, though.  Want to have room for and enjoy our big meal out, tonight.  Have a good day...
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

Judy, their steaks must be good since you're excited to go!

Sandra, I will keep the amplifier in mind if these hearing aids don't work out.

Here are pictures of how to do the chaffles...super easy, super quick and very tender. One egg & 1/2 c. mozzarella cheese. You can use any cheese.

I use my mini Dash pancake maker. Most people make them in a waffle maker (square) and use them for sandwich bread. There are tons of different recipes. They freeze well too.

This is the final result. I do plan on getting a large square waffle maker.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 7 ~ SAT SEPT 13

Devonne, the steaks are really good.  Last year I got filet mignon (because others did) and it was melt-in-your-mouth.  So, that's what I'm getting again.  Everything is very expensive.  Way out of our price range. But, that's their choice.
Those chaffles look good. I'm not much of a waffle person. Prefer pancakes so I'm glad you can do them that way, too.  Do you use the already shredded mozzarella?
