Hi, everyone! 🤗
QB, I love your Snoopy! I've always been a HUGE fan of Snoopy! He and I grew up together! 😄
Offline
I forgot to add the date for Sunday, took me a couple minutes to find this post
I have been busy last couple days, training yesterday was brutal, it was endurance, boy was it challenging, it was a race against yourself, so not really a problem, just glad I did as much as I did anyway
And today I bought lots of fabric to go with my jelly roll, Julie gave me a pattern, and I spent all day today cutting, almost finished it and now starting to mark diagonal lines. So much prep for this one, Julie said it goes together really fast after all the prep, I cut 64 of 2 1/2" strips, finished cutting the last when I got home as I wanted a break and started drawing lines. Even that is taking a while.
SANDRA yahoo!!!!! a big win for you! Congrats, I checked out your beautiful work, you have such a talent, between that, drawing and your stories, you do so well!! Hope you got your day of rest, and enjoyed your books, I have a huge "to read" pile at the moment, just not enough time to read, I want to read every night before bed if I can - some nights I am so tired I only read one page, so often it's the same page over and over LOL
Snoopy is so cute, and I think I have some of the fabric in the ladies dress!
DEVONNE great idea to give the crates away to a god cause, so many people would be glad of them. I forgot if I wished Carter Happy Birthday - if not Many Happy Returns Carter!! Sorry your "pizza" wasn't as you expected, looked good though.
INDY I do undertand about your "love" of football, it's the same here, a little peace and quiet, but often he yells at the screen anyway, I can still put headphones on though and drown out that!!
CHERYL is Katie doing any better, I hope the deer enjoy that water, and leave your flowers alone as payment, but not holding my breath, it's so good of Dean to think of them!
BJ hope you feel a bit better - enjoy the girls visits (((hugs))))
HOLLY just awful for the family, I am so sorry, violence is never the answer, no matter the problem
I have a bit of a headache, we are now at the award stage of the year for temps, been warm during the day so a light quilt, then waking in the early hours cold and needing another quilt to get warm, only lasts a few weeks - but wrecks my already awful sleep LOL
I have to get up early, Dean has his Year 11 Prelim exams starting tomorrow the last big ones before his final year at school, then he has 2 weeks off (school holidays) after they finish, and his last of school starts when he returns, he'll finally be in year 12. I volunteered to take him when they can't, he can get the bus, but it can be stressful if the bus runs late, or doesn't tun up - rare but it has happened, then they finish the exam and leave - he only has one tomorrow, 2 on Tuesday and Thursday and one Fri and following Monday. We'll all be glad when they are done. Our Year 12s finish school around Sept, they sit their exams in October and have the 3 weeks or so to study at home. Then they have their "formal night" after the end of exams.
The Mr is stressing, he made appts that clash, and he needs to figure out how to keep them both, he really isn't thinking clearly, he is making bad judgement calls, and I am getting concerned, I hope it's just because he just thinks about bowls all the time, and doesn't consider the consequences when he decides to get all his appt over in a morning, without thinking about how he will get from A-B-C AND find parking. I am not getting involved, his call and he might think about it next time. At least I hope so!!

Trish, I hate the concept of exams, and wish schools would get rid of them, or make them open book. If you’ve done well all year, why stress them out over another test?
Do you ever feel like you should just talk to the wall, because someone doesn’t listen? Case in point. We have 3 partial boxes of good flooring left from the kitchen and porch. It was under our bed, but the new bed doesn’t leave enough room. So I said, we can clear the back wall of the walk in area of our room and put it there, which only meant moving it about 5 feet. So what does he do? He starts clearing the bottom of the closet in the guest room! I said if you want to put it there, fine, but it’s a lot farther to move. No, he thought my idea was better. I’m petty, I said if he’d actually listened to what I said, he’d have saved himself work. Anyway, it’s done now.
Today’s lunch is at an Italian place called Filomena’s, near us. The lunch portions are just right. I always get the chicken Parmesan, and he always gets the nyookies.
Last night I made stuffed shells and meatballs, and there will be plenty for tomorrow, also. We have to grocery shop tomorrow, we’re low on milk, bread, and eggs, and cereal.

WONKY ADS......
1. WE DO NOT TEAR YOUR CLOTHING WITH MACHINERY. WE DO IT CAREFULLY BY HAND.
2. NO MATTER WHAT YOUR TOPCOAT IS MADE OF, THIS MIRACLE SPRAY WILL MAKE IT REALLY REPELLENT.
LOVE THIS WEATHER. DAYS IN THE 70S AND NITES IN THE HIGH 40S OR LOW 50S. NEARLY PERFECT. WE JUST NEED A FEW RAIN DAYS.
HOLLY......I USUALLY STAY UP TIL 3 OR 4 A.M. SO I NEED A SNACK AROUND 9 P.M. EACH NITE. BUT ITS USUALLY A SMALL PORTION.
JUDY.....NO, I DON'T REMEMBER CABIN CREEK JACKETS. STILL, ITS GOOD YOU ARE SEWING AGAIN.
FOR TODAY NOTHING MUCH PLANNED AS ITS MY DAY OF REST AND I GOT CAUGHT UP ON CLEANING YESTERDAY. I MAY SEW A BIT TODAY, OR NOT. I KNOW I WILL READ AND WALK MY LAPS FOR SURE. I HAVE LEFTOVER POTATO PANCAKES FROM LAST NITE. I HAD TO MAKE THEM WITH THE SOUR CREAM NEARLY AT ITS BEST BY DATE. MMMM, THEY WERE GOOD.
TODAY ITS A PORK CHOP AND ROAST VEGGIE DAY. I NEED TO GET THOSE CHOPS COOKED AND HAVE LOTS OF TATERS TO USE AS WELL. LUCKY ME THEY CAN COOK THEMSELVES ONCE I GET THEM IN THE OVEN. NO WORK.
STAY SAFE LADIES. HUGS, QB S

Sandra, I wouldn’t presume to give advice, just saying what works for me.
It’s 83 and sunny here. Already dark by 7:30, that part I don’t like. We had a nice lunch and chat with F and C.
Offline
trying to post this from Megan’s, the plumber needed access to back yard so I had to bring the dogs in, Oscar would go wandering, and Alfie would annoy the workers by wanting love from them 😁
Megan will finish up where she is and come home, handy being so close for me😁
SANDRA having a snack - or eating something (small) every few hours is great for me, usually some kind of protein if possible, I make small protein balls sometimes, whatever works for you, if I lived alone I would be up at about 4am and in bed before 7pm 😁
but having to share makes it awkward to start vacuuming at 4am, I wouldn’t be popular 😁😁
HOLLY I don’t mind the exams, they are only worth 1/2 the final grade here to allow for kids who do well and stress, but weed out the really lazy ones. What is nyookie? Sounds about what W does here, I suggest and he does his own thing until he realises my way is better. Lately I don’t even suggest, he can figure it out.
For example he sets his phone alarm, but leaves it on the charger in the living room, I can be right near it but ignore it, Pete was home and came out go turn it off and wake him, I asked him not to, what’s the point if he can’t wake up to turn it off himself 😱, if we weren’t there he would have to do it, he eventually came out 😁😁 he wouldn’t dare say anything!
It’s going to be warm today, and tomorrow, I grabbed my fabric pieces to draw the diagonal line, may as well do something while I’m here, the dogs are being needy, they want lots of love, you’d swear they had been left alone and hungry for days instead of about 45 mins

Today was Logan's 25th birthday. Both of my grandsons were born in September, the same week. I don't see him much, esp. since he moved in with his girlfriend and no longer lives with G&E.
I'm been doing a lot of work around the house...getting the home decor the way I want it and I don't plan to ever change it again. I have a coffee table to donate and some more home decor things. I'm preparing for a cleaning lady when I need her one day, lol.
I am doing so much better since getting off the higher dosage Tamoxifen. I've had a lot of energy, which has allowed me to get a lot done. I am not kidding, but a month ago I could only hang up 1/2 of my new shower curtain and had to rest.

Trish, I spelled it wrong, it’s gnocchi and it kind of a potato dumpling about the size of a small marble, and you eat it with spaghetti gravy. Or, Olive Garden has a chicken gnocchi soup with a thick broth that is fabulous.
Devonne, I’m so glad you have some energy back! You’ve been thru so much!
My son in law Ben is on a work trip to Ohio, and over the weekend he drove 3 hours to Detroit, to add Michigan to his states visited list. MI was state #50 for him! That’s an accomplishment!
Offline
Gnocchi can also be served with brown butter, olive oil and garlic. We used to make our own but now buy them frozen or boxed in sort of a freeze dried bag. Most are potato but can also be made with onion or even cheese. My son in law likes them in a casserole sort of like baked ziti. There is no filling…the potat, etc is part of the dough. Very filling.
Anyone else having issues with the USPS? It’s terrible lately. I ordered a pattern from a shop about 4 hrs from here before Labor Day and tracking has it “temporarily stalled”?? It went from VA to MI. 😵💫 and then to NJ. Where it sat for 2 days and then the other day it showed up in SC. 😡. Another order Priority package left MA 10 days ago and there hasn’t be any tracking since the day I ordered. And yet another package left WI two weeks ago and it has bounced around WI for days. Yesterday it said it was ar a USPS distribution center in Oregon?
Terrible. I guess I’ll be on the phone with the credit card company tomorrow. To dispute the charges.

Sandra, I love the Snoopy! So cute! Congrats on the bingo win.
Devonne, glad the medication change has helped with your fatigue. I also do not give to Goodwill. I use two local thrift shops: one is run by Mennonites and it goes into a fund for medical bills for the congregation and for other groups around the world and the other is for American Veterans. I use it the most often, but it is further away from me. They do offer a free pick up every few months, just put the stuff at the end of the drive and attach a card that they send in the mail listing the pick up date.
Trish, I love dogs like Alfie! I love Aaron's dog, Bosco, but he is so skittish around strangers (except kids) and other dogs. So we keep him away from them.
As for the deer, I love seeing them in my yard or around the neighborhood. I live in a town between Akron and Canton, and it used to be a very rural area when we moved here. Unfortunately, most of the farms have been divided and sold off and now we have fields of houses where there used to be crops and cows. We have taken the homes of the wildlife and get irritated if they come into our yards. I have three feral kittens now in my back yard area, one little rabbit, two groundhogs(woodchucks) and the deer. We used to have raccoons, but my neighbor shot the mother raccoon. The we saw the two smaller babies coming to the bird feeder to eat the seed. They disappeared one at a time the past couple of weeks. My neighbor obviously thinks they are too close to his house
. We have never had one in our house or garages and over the years we have had many raccoons.
Janet, your USPS ordeal is terrible. I did have that happen last Christmas with USPS but the company refunded my money after I notified them.
Has anybody heard from Diana/San? I was thinking about her.

DEVONNE I hope you continue to feel more energy, it does take a long time to recover from cancer treatment, they are quite strong drugs ((((hugs))))
CHERYL I have been thinking of SAN/DIANA as well, I have emailed her a few times, but they bounce back. I actually tried to email her just last week, no idea if she is even in the old address any more.
HOLLY too funny, if I had sounded the word out I would have realised you meant gnocchi, I only like it from one place, they serve it simply with parmesan and some basil, very good, Nunzio's wife makes it I think. The stuff you can buy in the supermarket is pretty tough to me YUK!!
JANET awful about the delayed post, they have been travelling haven't they? - could tell a few stories if they could talk, our mailing has been pretty good, but I have also been pretty good and not buying much online.
It's still warm enough to have the doors open tonight, odd, I feel like they should be closed now.
Dean has 2 exams tomorrow the worst for him is Physic,. he does Religion in the morning he just needs to get a pass for that, pretty easy. Actually the kids push back a bit about doing religion, but it's not just Catholicism, it's all religions and very interesting, they do Buddhist & Jewish faiths and pretty much give an overview of all types of religions/faiths. Can't do too in-depth of course - it would take more time than they have in class, but gives them appreciation of others.
I will drop him, and pick up later, he has Wed off thank heavens, so not as early a start for me.
I did get all my fabric lines marked, so I didn't waste time at their place today, they were both very grateful I could go there, Megan returned a bit before lunch, and then I had yoga. It's going to be expensive to get all the plumbing done, he's got it to 80%, but they need to completely pull down the retaining wall, and excavate deep to get the rest of the pipes replaced, that will be another time, it will be OK for now, Josh will give them a quote to finish the work, Josh is the husband of Gemma who does training with me.

MANGLED MODIFIERS......
THE MORMON CHURCH HAS NO DOCTRINAL POSITION ON WHEN LIFE BEGINS BUT TAKES A HARD LINE AGAINST ABORTIONS PERFORMED FOR REASONS OTHER THAN TO SAVE THE LIFE OF THE MOTHER OR IN CASES OF RAPE AND INCEST AFTER COUNSELING WITH A BISHOP.
LOVELY, LOVELY DAY AGAIN. AM I REPEATING MYSELF?
HOLLY.......I KNEW IT WAS NOT ADVICE, I WAS JUST TELLING YOU MY VERSION, TOO. TO EACH HIS OWN. SOME THINGS WORK FOR SOME BUT NOT FOR OTHERS. WE HAVE TO DECIDE WHICH TO CHOOSE FOR OURSELVES.
TRISH.....THE BOYS ARE JUST ABOUT GROWN UP NOW. I REMEMBER WHEN THEY WERE BABIES. WHERE HAS THE TIME FLOWN?
ITS FUNNY WHAT WORKS FOR SOME IN WATCHING OUR WEIGHT AND DOESN'T FOR OTHERS. IF I ATE A BIT NOW AND THEN I'D JUST NEVER STOP. I HAVE TO KEEP MY LIPS SEALED TO LOSE WEIGHT.
JANET.....SORRY ABOUT YOUR USPS PROBLEMS. THE ONLY TIME I REALLY HAD A PROBLEM WAS WHEN I BOUGHT SOME STAMPS FROM THE USPS AND THEY SHIPPED IT ALL OVER THE PLACE AND IT TOOK 3 WKS, I THINK, FOR ME TO GET THEM. I BUY MY STAMPS ONLINE ALL THE TIME AND IT WAS A FIRST FOR ME. USUALLY I GET THEM WITHIN A WEEK.
WELL, I GOT MY LAPS IN THIS MORNING, SWEPT THE KITCHEN FLOOR, CLEANED OUT MY FRIDGE OF A FEW OLD ITEMS, AND WILL TAKE THE TRASH OUT SOON WHEN I GO DOWN FOR MY MAIL. I AM HOPING A BOOK OR 2 ARRIVES TODAY. I KNOW THE IRON I ORDERED FROM TARGET IS ARRIVING SOMETIME TODAY BY FEDEX. I CAN TOSS THE BROKEN ONE OUT TODAY. I PLAN TO SEW ON A BINDING FOR THE FISH WH. I GOT MY VICTORIAN LADY LAYERED AND PINNED FOR HAND-QUILTING THIS WEEK AT CRAFTS. I AM ALSO THINKING OF LOOKING FOR A CAROUSEL PICTURE I CAN SKETCH. I LOVE CAROUSEL HORSES AND IT WOULD BE NICE TO MAKE ONE FOR MY DOOR. MY LARGE ONE I GAVE TO MY DAUGHTER TO DISPLAY ON HER WALL. SHE LOVED IT AND I THOUGHT I COULD MAKE MYSELF SOMETHING SMALLER.
THAT'S IT LADIES. STAY SAFE. HUGS, QB S

Hello, my dear friends!
Today's chores are shampooing carpet (not every room) and trimming Gracie a little bit. I never finished her paws the last time & it looks bad. I'll make a trip to Victory Thrift to drop off the coffee table. It will take another trip to drop off Gracie's dog crate.
I lost 3 lbs. last week and I'm very happy with that. My next goal is 7.4 lbs. to get me to where I haven't been in 15-20 years.
My homeowners insurance really went up with Progressive. I'm checking with a few other companies, but they probably all are expensive.

Good Morning to everyone!! No rain this morning, but also, no sun!!! We do have some blue sky, though!! I really have nothing to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.
Offline
Janet, yes! When we mail cards or packages to Steph in Oregon, or Manda in Washington, it can take 2 days or 2 weeks! It’s so frustrating.
We went to Aldi this morning. Dinner will be leftover meatballs and stuffed shells.
Sandra, gotcha!
My knees are aching, it’s going to rain.
Cheryl, have you read any by Julie Clark? She’s written 3, all really good.
Offline
Devonne, I think all home insurance has gone up a lot, mostly due to all of the weather related damage to many areas. Floods, fires, hurricanes. Just to name a few. We have State Farm and it went up quite a lot and that is with a multi home and multi car discount.
Holly, I have not read anything by Julie Clark. I will add her to my list of reading notes. I did just reserve that Shari Lapena book that you just finished. It has a wait list, so may be a while.
Sandra, my iron is a Black and Decker too. I had a more expensive one years ago, but it leaked just the same as the less expensive ones, so I just replace as needed.
My Janome 6600 is once again not working right. Something is not working in the bobbin area. I had it in the shop twice for this issue; in 2018 and 2023. Last time it was over $300 so I hope it is not to much again. I really like this machine but the thread cutter has never worked well and now the bobbin area has not been the greatest. It is older now as I bought it new in 2006. Dean says to get a new machine. I said no, since I really don't do much quilting these days. I think I will use what fabric I have and mostly be done. It seems nobody really wants quilts these days and it does cost to make them. I used to take my finished kid quilts to Joann Fabrics and Project Linus picked them up there. I contacted the person listed online and she is about an hour north of me. I really don't want to go that far, but perhaps I will soon, just to get them out of my closet. I have about 25 now. Mostly all I do now is scrap quilts as I don't have the patience for most patterns.
We are having beautiful weather, but still need rain.

Evening all
Another warm day it was quite hot overnight so I didn't sleep well, hate those nights, the house felt really warm !!
SANDRA looking forward to seeing your carousel pics, they are lovely too. I hope your books came, I started reading a couple books - again - from my pile, just can't get interested
CHERYL sorry about the machine, I would think it would last quit4e a long tome, I have had my Pfaff for a long tome, and while the new ones I love I don't need it. Mine is still good. Might be something simple, have you cleaned it out, and checked the bobbin for damage, that seems to happen - sometimes a pin or some threads get caught, I clean my bobbin area completely every bobbin change, amazing the amount of dust there.
HOLLY funny you mentioned meatballs, just got an email from the club about Octoberfest, they are serving German meatballs YUM, also SANDRA -- potato pancakes, I will be trying both LOL
DEVONNE & HOLLY you are both doing so well on the losing weight, well done to both of you.
Nothing much happening here, had my hair cut and colour foils after training, then picked up Dean, and have been sewing some pieces for the new quilt, I'll get a pic when there is something to see LOL It's pretty boring, sewing strips together diagonally, background to colour, and 80 sets of each of the 5 sizes, it's going to take a while
I am hoping for a good sleep, I have some herbal tea leaves that are supposed to be good to relax, maybe
they will work

Good Morning to everyone!! It is a gorgeous day outside. The sun is shining brightly. Love it!!! My left leg is hurting, as usual. Well, my cleaning lady is now here, so that's nice. My hands are hurting a bit this morning, so will stop now and move into a quieter place. Have a wonderful day, everyone!! BJ.

EXCUSES, EXCUSES FROM SCHOOL........
1. PLEASE EXCUSE MARY FROM BEING ABSENT YESTERDAY. SHE WAS IN BED WITH GRAMPS.
2. GLORIA WAS ABSENT YESTERDAY AS SHE WAS HAVING A GANGOVER.
ITS LOVELY AND VERY FALLISH OUT THERE TODAY. LOVING IT.
BJ.......ITS LOVELY TO SEE YOU POSTING EACH MORNING. I LOOK FORWARD TO THEM. HUGS.
DEVONNE.....HOORAY FOR YOU ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU FOUND A PLAN THAT WORKS FOR YOU. GREAT.
CHERYL......LIKE YOU I CAN'T MAKE BIG QUILTS ANYMORE SO I SETTLE FOR DOOR HANGINGS AND ENJOY IT. NO MORE SHOVING BIG QUILTS UNDER THE SEWING ARM TO GET THEM FINISHED. SMALLER ARE EASIER TO HANDLE AND I LOVE DOING REPLIQUE (UPSIDE-DOWN APPLIQUE TECHNIQUE) SO IT WORKS FOR ME.
I BOUGHT MY HUSQVARNA IN 2004 AND IT STILLS RUNS LIKE A DREAM. NEVER NEEDS OILING EITHER. IF IT FIZZLES OUT A NEW ONE WILL BE PRICE PROHIBITIVE FOR ME BUT SINCE I MAINLY USE SATIN-STICHING, I CAN MAKE DO WITH AN AVERAGE SINGER. TOO BAD I GAVE MINE AWAY TO MY GRDAU A FEW YEARS AGO BUT I THINK I CAN HANDLE BUYING ANOTHER AT THEIR LOW PRICES, IF THE NEED ARISES.
TRISH......KEEP ON QUILTING WHILE YOU CAN. I KNOW MY FAMILY ALL LOVED THE QUILTS I MADE THEM, ESPECIALLY THE HOLIDAY ONES THEY COULD PUT ON THEIR BEDS.
WELL, I GOT SO TIRED OF LOOKING AT MY UNFINISHED GNOME PUZZLE, I FINISHED IT TODAY. IT WILL BE DISPLAYED FOR THE OTHERS WHO ALSO WORKED ON IT AND THEN TOMORROW I WILL SET OUT A NEW PUZZLE.
IN THE MEANTIME, THE MAILMAN BROUGHT ME 3 OF THE BOOKS I RECENTLY ORDERED, AND 1 IS A FAVE, MRS. POLLIFAX. THE OTHER 5 BKS ARE COMING ON FRIDAY. IT SHOULD KEEP BE BUSY ON THE LAZY DAYS.
I GOT MY LAPS IN THIS MORNING BEFORE PUZZLE WORK. FOR LUNCH I HAD A COMPLEAT LUNCH OF RICE WITH CHICKEN. ITS VERY SMAMLL AND EASY THO NOT A FAVORITE, BUT I GOT THEM FOR FREE FROM OUR FREE TABLE WHEN MY NEIGHBOR BROUGHT THEM FROM THE FOOD PANTRY. SINCE IT HAD A USE-BY-DATE THIS MONTH, I HAD IT FOR LUNCH.
SINCE I GAINED A POUND FROM ENJOYING MY POTATOE PANCAKES THE LAST 2 DAYS, AND MORE THAN I SHOULD HAVE, I NEEDED TO CUT BACK.
I AM REPORTING TODAY ON USING MY STOVE TOP SCRAPER. ITS MARVELOUS. I SPONGED THE INSIDE OF MY OVEN DOOR WITH BLUE DAWN AND THEN SCRAPED. THE BURNT-ON GREASE CAME OFF LIKE A DREAM. NO STRUGGLE AND IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES MY OVEN WAS SUPER CLEAN AGAIN. LIKE NEW.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SUCH A TOOL. I ALSO DID MY MICROWAVE AND TOASTER OVEN AND AGAIN, A COUPLE MINUTES AND DONE.
THEY CALL THEM CERAMIC STOVE TOP SCRAPERS ALSO. MINE HAS A STRAIGHT-SHAVER BLADE. THEY SELL THEM IN WALMART FOR ABOUT $7 THO I BOUGHT MINE FROM STARCREST ONLINE. LUCKILY I GOT ONE FOR MY DAUGHTER, TOO. SHE SAID SHE NEEDS ONE. SHE STRUGGLED TO GET MY OVEN CLEAN FOR ME AND COULD NOT DO IT EVEN USING A 'MIRACLE' CLEANER AND ALSO A POPULAR OVEN CLEANER. ITS A WINNER.
WELL LADIES, NOT MUCH ELSE TO REPORT. I WILL TAKE OUT MY RECYCLES TODAY AND THEN SETTLE DOWN TO READ MY MRS. POLLIFAX. I HAVE A FISHES DOOR HANGING TO FINISH UP BUT SINCE ITS STILL NOT WINTER, I DON'T HAVE TO RUSH. I ALSO HAVE LEFTOVER PORK CHOP AND TATERS FOR MY SUPPER TONITE. ALL IS WELL IN MY LIFE.
STAY SAFE ME FRIENDS. HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S
