Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

THANKS SANDRA I finally got back in here, it seems to be over now.
No yea what the problem was, kept getting an error message, finally switched everything off and tried again today, I must have not deleted browsing history and the computer was remembering LOL

CHERYL yep!!! Zipping it is good, I often do that, I COULD say and do lots, but keep my mouth firmly closed LOL

THERESA the will be a big adjustment time for you, it's been such a long journey, I am glad your NSBD apologised, maybe he has realised he needs the love of his family and wants to make amends, too late for your mum sadly, but maybe bridges can be rebuilt.

I have been so tired, I went to yoga yesterday, and that seems to have done me good, finally got a good nights sleep, tired again tonight, and  need to get my sewing things put away properly, I just dumped it all in the sewing room LOL What a mess!!

I will tackle that tomorrow.
Hopefully a good night again tonight will see me back on track.

(((hugs))) and prayers

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

WONKY ADS......
1.  FOUR-POSTER BED.   101 YEARS OLD.  PERFECT FOR ANTIQUE LOVER.
2.  NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR EARS PIERCED AND GET AN EXTRA PAIR TO TAKE HOME, TOO!

SHALL I REPEAT MYSELF.  LOVELY DAY HERE.  SUNNY AND JUST RIGHT.

I JUST STEPPED OUT OF THE SHOWER AND CONNIE BROUGHT ME A PIECE OF COFFEE CAKE FOR BREAKFAST.  I WILL MISS HER NEXT MONTH.  I TRIED TO TALK HER INTO COMING BACK FOR BINGO NIGHTS WHEN SHE LEAVES.  SHE'S ALWAYS WELCOME.  SHE SAID SHE WILL TRY NOW AND THEN BUT SHE HAS TO DEPEND ON HER DAUGHTER DRIVING HER.  AS TO THE COFFEE CAKE, ITS A BIT TOO LARGE FOR ME AND I REALLY NEED TO HAVE SOME FRUIT SO I WILL SAVE IT.
THINKING OF MAKING A CASSY OF SOME KIND WITH MY CHICKEN BREAST, MAYBE WITH NOODLES.  BUT THEN I WANT TO MAKE SOME SOUP FOR MY SON'S SHOPPING VISIT THIS COMING WEEKEND.  DECISIONS, DECISIONS.

IT SOUNDS LIKE MOST OF US HAD A QUIET LABOR DAY AND NOTHING SPECIAL.  FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DID ENJOY THE COMPANY OF FAMILY AND GOOD OUTDOOR COOKING, I AM HAPPY FOR YOU.  KEEP DOING IT AS LONG AS YOU CAN.  I HAD BURGERS SO I WAS HAPPY.

BACK TO MY DAILY ROUTINE TODAY.  FEELING GOOD.  I HOPE WE GET TO PLAY CRIBBAGE TODAY.  MISSED IT THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS.

THAT'S IT LADIES.  ENJOY YOUR DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

Good Morning to everyone!!  My left leg is hurting so bad, not sure what to do about it, likely just live with it!!!  Not sure what to do today, will probably just watch TV.  I hope you all have a wonderful day.  Sending love and best wishes to you all, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

BJ, I’m so happy you post every day!

Janet, I think you jinxed me, seems like I have to log in every few days now!

I got in the sewing room yesterday and today. Today I did a set of coasters for Steph, and have another ready to sew. Then there’s one more charm pack she claimed. All very fall looking. My knees are achey from standing at the ironing board, and I have PT at 3 today. Their morning was all booked due to the holiday.

It’s 4 years today that my nephew David died by suicide. Such a sad thing. I ordered Jul a waffle cloth sweatshirt that she picked out, it says “It’s ok if all you do today is breathe.” My tribute to David.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

I've been watching reviews on Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. They released this song in 1965; it's my all time favorite song. No one can sing it like Bobby Hatfield did, but many have tried. It was live tv on the Andy Williams show. He was so talented, but died of a fatal heart attack right before a concert due to cocaine usage. Think in 2003?

My crafting project for the bedroom is not going to work. It looks great, but the lights are too dim. I'll keep my lamps.

I trimmed my four small hedges with handheld pruning shears. My lawn guy wanted $40 to trim them. Took me 20 minutes. We had 23 hedges at our last house and we took turns trimming them, not to mention all the acres of grass we cut and all the weedeating! More is not always better!

I will see if I can trim the bigger bushes with my Skil trimmer. If not, I'll hire someone. I hired a landscape company. They do fertilizer, post emergent and pre emergent treatments. They saved my expensive sod.

BJ, sending love & hugs from Georgia all the way to you to Washington.

Holly, hugs!  My nephew (my oldest sister's only son) saw his Dad take his own life (he was an alcoholic). I can't imagine. He's a wonderful man and is retired now.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

I normally don't get here this early, but I have a lot to do today. Thought about adding to my last post, but it's already way too long, lol!

I'll be washing the bed sheets today and a new comforter I bought and other laundry. I have a scheduled phone call with my chemo oncologist today. He will decide then what to do about the Tamoxifen. I do feel better not taking it.

I wasted the summer, not watching what I was eating. Way too much sugar and my doctor wants my A1C down. That's not going to happen this way! Today I am starting watching what I eat and reading labels. Sugar is in so many things.

Theresa, somehow I missed your post. I'm glad you are going to the retreat with Carol. You need this!

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

MANGLED MODIFIERS.......
1.  TWO CARS WERE REPORTED STOLEN BY THE GROVETON POLICE YESTERDAY.
2.  ONE COULDN'T HELP BUT BE AWARE OF THE STALLI0N ROYAL RICK SITTING IN THE STANDS THE LAST COUPLE OF NIGHTS.

ITS LOVELY OUT TODAY BUT EXPECTING RAIN TOMORROW.  I HOPE, I HOPE.  WE NEED IT.

I THINK I FORGOT TO REPORT ON THE WORTH OF THE HAIR DRAIN STRAINER I GOT FOR MY SHOWER.  ITS TERRIFIC.  I LOVE IT.
TODAY IS BINGO DAY.  I AM CROSSING ALL MY DIGITS TO WIN A FEW BUCKS TONITE.  WISH ME WELL LADIES.
I FOUND OUT I AM SAVING A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS NEW EATING PLAN.  FEWER SNACKS AROUND THE HOUSE AND FEWER CASSEROLES TO SHARE WITH THE NEIGHBORS.  BUT ITS ALL WELL AND GOOD.  I CAN PAY OFF THE SMALL MEDICAL BILLS I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING SINCE MY VISIT TO THE E.R. IN MARCH.  ITS JUST TOO COSTLY TO GET ILL.  I DON'T KNOW HOW THOSE WITHOUT INSURANCE CAN MANAGE IT.  THANK GOODNESS FOR MEDICARE FOR THIS OLD LADY.  A 3-HR VISIT COST OVER 3 THOUSAND BUCKS AND THEN THERE WERE THE AMBULANCE RIDES.  THOSE COST MORE OUT-OF-POCKET THAN THE E.R.  I ALSO FINALLY RECEIVED A BILL FROM ALL THE EKGS AND SUCH IN THE LAST YEAR WITH MY CARDIO AND THAT WAS ANOTHER COSTLY ONE.  NOT THE DR VISIT, BUT THE LAB AND BLOOD TESTS OVER THE YEAR. MY SHARE TO PAY ISN'T HUGE, BUT IT PUTS A DENT IN MY MONTHLY BUDGET.
ON ANOTHER NOTE, I RECEIVED MY COOK-TOP SCRAPERS YESTERDAY.  I WANT TO TRY IT ON THE GLASS OF MY OVEN DOOR.  THE SPATTERS HAVE ACCUMULATED SINCE I AM NOT RELIGIOUS ABOUT CLEANING OFF THE DOOR EVERY TIME I USE THE OVEN.  I KNOW I SHOULD, BUT I JUST DON'T BOTHER.  THEN AFTER MONTHS OF ACCUMULATION, ITS HARD TO REMOVE THE SPOTS. NO OVEN CLEANER HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO A GREAT JOB OF IT.  THANK GOODNESS I HAVE AN OVEN LINER FOR THE BOTTOM OF MY OVEN.  ANYWAY,  I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THE RAZOR-TIP SCRAPER DOES ITS JOB.  ITS SHOULD BE BETTER THAN A BRILLO PAD.  I WILL TRY IT THIS WEEK.

DEVONNE......I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO WATCH WHAT ONE EATS.  I AM TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT MYSELF AND CUTTING COSTS BUT I STILL FIND MYSELF CHEATING.  HENCE, I AM AT A PLATEAU AND HAVE STUCK WITH A 12-LB LOSS THE LAST FEW WEEKS.  I REALLY MUST STOP MUNCHING AT NITE.  THOSE ICE CREAM SUNDAES MUST BE THE CULPRIT, BUT DARN IT, I LOVE 'EM.
I WAS ABLE TO LAYER TWO OF MY DOOR HANGINGS YESTERDAY SO I CAN QUILT THEM AND ADD THE TRIM SOON.  MAYBE EVEN TODAY.  WE SHALL SEE HOW IT GOES.
I AM EAGER TO START SOME NEW PATTERNS FOR XMAS.  I AM THINKING OF A PAIR OF FURRY FRIENDS SLEDDING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN, PROBABLY A RABBIT AND A MOUSE.  THAT MAY BE MY NEXT PROJECT.

THAT'S IT LADIES.  NOTHING ELSE TO SAY.  BE GOOD.  STAY SAFE.  ENJOY YOUR DAYS BEFORE WINTER.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

We just got back from Aldi. I put ravioli lasagna in the crockpot for dinner. It’s a recipe I saw online. Layer ravioli, browned ground beef, shredded Parmesan, shredded mozzarella, and red sauce aka gravy. Repeat layers. Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours. Easy peasy.

I sent the PacNW grandchildren hot chocolate mix. Flavored like Reece’s, snickers, and mint. They got it yesterday and Manda sent me a video of them recreating their delighted response. So funny.

Cheryl, I must have been snoozing when Aaron and Katie got married. I hope they work out their differences. Religion is a hard one.

Another nice day here, 70’s and sunny.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

Quick stop before I eat lunch and head to the ballpark.

Good luck, tonight, Sandra!  I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you.

Cheryl, good idea not to discuss the matter.

Holly, hoping your PT is working well for you.

Devonne, weight loss is so hard.  Good for you for making plans and sticking to them.  You too, Sandra.

Okay, I've finished my Scraps to Treasures quilt.  Well, I need to hand-stitch the binding, but that's tonight.  One project ready for our trip.  I've finished the applique on 36 blocks, and I'm packing them to take along for a hand-embroidery project.  I just need to put everything into the tote bag.  Tomorrow, I need to do the retreat challenge project.  It's super easy and super cute.  So, that's it.

Tomorrow is vacuum the car and pack.  I took it to the dealership yesterday, and they replaced two air filters and checked everything else.  They didn't charge for the inspection, lucky me!  So, I'm about ready, and I know Theresa is.  We promise not to get into too much trouble, famous last words!

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

At my first and only COF retreat, in Charlotte, and before it officially started,  I saw a couple of "girls" sewing the binding down on the same quilt at the same time.  Guess who?   I don't know what  the story about the quilt was, but it was sort of sweet... them working together and welcoming me.   And, they're still at it, at least the togetherness.  Have a wonderful time, T. and C.

ML came over here on our anniversary bearing "gifts" of her homemade potato salad, some special hot dogs she bought (that she and Bill didn't like ), buns for them and two donut peaches for our dessert...and a card that she accidently wrote in upsidedown!   She and I had a nice visit and we conferred on some genealogy on her paternal side.

Not much going on here, today, but yesterday was an errand day and quite busy.  Stops at 3 banks; one grocery to get the refund for the items they'd gypped me on; a stop at the farm mkt. tent; an Rx, groceries, etc. at W-M and, lastly, at another pharm for another Rx.  We were two tired puppies!

Sorry, Devonne, that  your project didn't work out, but too dim lighting is worthless.  Glad  you still had your lamps.  I'm amazed at the strength you have to do those yard chores.  Don't hurt yourself...  How did Molly do with Gary's dog "visiting"?

Today is the first anniversary of Fancy's leaving us.  I know all the reasons, mentally, but we feel her loss often.  I'm not bringing it up to Howard. He still thinks we could manage another dog and I know we can't, so I'll keep it to myself and he won't remember.

Andrew will turn 27 on Saturday.  How in the world did that happen?  Don't we all wonder that?  He has a job fair representing his new/old accounting firm at Purdue U.  on Friday, will drive back up here that night and stay overnight with his parents, then head back to Chicago, to be with his friend, Madalyn while she has movers moving her. so "I don't get murdered"...her words.  And HE wants to live in Chicago!

So with all that chit chat, I'll close this and go get my shower.   Nice,  cloudy day, here.  Rain coming...
Indy

Good morning, BJ!  It looks like you are the only one of us who has been here so far today.

I have a rare day with no place I have to be at a specific time today, but I do need to buy some groceries at some point this afternoon.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

ACCIDENTAL BLOOPERS.....
1.  A COW WANDERED INTO MY CAR.  I WAS LATER INFORMED THAT THE UNFORTUNATE COW WAS HALF-WITTED.
2.  THE OTHER MAN CHANGED HIS MIND, AND I HAD TO RUN INTO HIM.

THE SUN IS SHINING AND IN THE 70S.  LOVELY DAY TODAY.

I'M LATE TODAY.  WENT TO CRAFT MORNING FIRST.  LOTS OF CHATTING HAPPENING SO JUST GOT BACK.  ITS A NICE WAY TO START THE DAY.
I WON 75 CENTS AT BINGO LAST NITE.  AS LONG AS ITS A WIN, I'M THRILLED.  BUT THEN, WE ALL HAVE A GOOD TIME REGARDLESS OF OUR WINS AND LOSSES.

I PLANNED TO MAKE VEGGIE BEEF SOUP THIS WEEKEND BUT MY SON SAID HE'D LIKE CHICKEN RICE SO CHANGED MY MENU.
TODAY I HAD SOME HAMBURGER SOUP BROUGHT TO ME BY NEIGHBOR SHARON NEXT DOOR.  SHE MAKES A VERY GOOD SOUP.  I HAVE ENOUGH FOR TOMORROW'S LUNCH AS WELL.  I SEEM TO HAVE STARTED A TREND THAT I AM ENJOYING ALONG WITH OTHERS IN THIS BUILDING WITH WHOM TO SHARE DISHES.
CHORES TODAY ARE MINIMAL.  I WILL PLAY IT BY EAR.  I THINK I SHOULD WIPE DOWN THE INSIDE OF MY FRIDGE.  THAT WILL TAKE PRIORITY.  I ALREADY VACUUMED EARLIER TODAY BEFORE CRAFTS.  I ADDED THE LACE TO MY VICTORIAN LADY SO WILL HAVE TO ADD A BORDER (BY MACHINE), LAYER IT AND PLAN ON HOW TO HAND-QUILT IT.  I THINK I WILL TAKE MY IDEAS FROM CAROLE ARMSTRONG'S BOOKS.  SHE DOES NICE HANDWORK AND ITS DIFFERING PATTERNS THOUGHOUT THE BLOCK.

WISHING YOU ALL A FINE DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

Home from eye doctor post-laser check up and lunch out belatedly for our anniversary.  We both chose grilled grouper dinners.  I don't know where they get grouper in landlocked Indiana but we've had it before and it's always very good.
Not so well at the doc's office.  My eye is doing wonderfully and my vision is noticeable clearer but when my longtime doc told me I need to come back in 3 mos.  He said he might not be there  for that appt.  He's been diagnosed with throat cancer and will be off during his treatment.  No surgery, but chemo and radiation.  I gave him a hug and told him I will pray for him.  Shed a few tears when I got in the car.

It's quite fallish here- a quick change after days of tropical heat.  It's more comfortable but I cling to and cherish the summertime.  Am not as delighted with fall as most people are due to impending cold and snow.   I think the honest truth is knowing that Howard is aging and not as able to keep up with plowing and other wintertime chores.  And I surely can't!  He's quiet as a mouse in the basement...wonder what he's doing?

Tomorrow is our Bible Study get together.  I'm on for a salad and will take a tomato, cuke, onion one with vinegar-ey dressing.   Will make that in the morning so it's doesn't get too sour.  It's been a month since we've met due to other's obligations and inability to come.

QB, going to look up Carol Armstrong.  Seems like a familiar name to me from early quilting days.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

Much cooler today, but still a pretty day.  We had some light rain, which we need, early.  Then the sun came out and it was around 68-70 degrees.  Perfect for me.

Sandra, glad you had some luck at bingo.  I do not have any luck at that game and I still like to play.

Theresa and Carol, have a wonderful time!!

Holly, no problem with not knowing Aaron had married.  He actually told her that perhaps religion was not for her since it has made  her so conflicted and confused.  My son, Anthony, is a scientist and he has a scientist's mind, so does not actually follow any religion.  His wife and kids go.

Aaron has a large tree in his back yard and t his year it did not get a single leaf on it.  I looked at the bark today and I did see a few small bore holes.  I wonder if it is an Ash tree and got that Ash Borer bug?  I know they can destroy trees quickly.  It is so expensive to take a tree down, but I think it will have to be done.  He has a very small lot in the city, so it will not be an easy task.

I woke up with a pounding headache today.  Perhaps from the rain, but not sure.  Did not do much of anything.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

I got some things done today. Finished the 3 sets of fall coasters for Steph, and we should be able to mail them tomorrow or Saturday. Worked on crocheting for a bit. Started The Perfect Husband by Lisa Gardner, which I’m told is scary.

We had bacon and tomato sandwiches for dinner, neither of us wanted lettuce on them. The ravioli lasagna last night was good, but I’ll cut the ground beef back to a half pound next time.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 31 ~ SAT SEPTEMBER 6

SIGNS OF THE TIMES......
1.  IN DOWNTOWN BOSTON: CALLAHAN TUNNEL /NO. END.
2.  IN THE WINDOW OF AN OREGON GENERAL STORE:  WHY GO ELSEWHERE TO BE CHEATED, WHEN YOU CAN COME HERE?

ITS GETTING GRAY OUT THERE.  THEY CLAIM SAT. AND SUN. WILL BRING US RAIN.  CROSSING MY FINGERS.

JUDY...... SORRY ABOUT YOUR DR. HAVING THROAT CANCER.  ITS GOING TO BE A TRIAL FOR HIM.  I KNOW ITS TOUGH WHEN THAT HAPPENS TO OUR DOCTORS.
CAROLE ARMSTRONG DOES LOTS OF LOVELY HAND APPLIQUE WITH BIRDS AND FLOWERS AND HER BLOCKS ARE ALSO DONE WITH HAND QUILTING BUT IN SEVERAL PATTERNS WITHIN EACH BLOCK.  I LOVE HER WORK.  I HAVE AT LEAST 2 OF HER BOOKS, MAYBE 3.  I HAVE ONE WITH CATS PREDOMINANT ALSO.

HOLLY.....SOMETIMES WHEN I AM OUT OF FRESH LETTUCE, I, TOO, AM SATISFIED WITH A B AND T SANDWICH OR A SALAD MINUS THAT LEAFY GREEN.

AFTER CRAFTS YESTERDAY I WENT HUNTING FOR A DIFFERENT APPLIQUE PATTERN.  I KNEW I HAD SOME FAIRY PATTERNS SO WENT TO MY FILE CONTAINERS.  FOUND THEM.  ALSO FOUND AN OLD MANUSCRIPT OF A ROMANTIC MYSTERY I COMPLETED AROUND 2000.  REREAD IT AND FORGOT HOW STEAMY WERE SOME OF THE LOVE SCENES.  MADE ME REMEMBER MY GUY IN THOSE OLD DAYS.
I ALSO FOUND THE ONE I STARTED ABOUT TALKING ANIMALS.  THEY TALKED AMONG THEMSELVES.  A SQUIRREL LIVES IN THE ATTIC OF A MANOR HOUSE WHERE THE NEW LORD COMES TO LIVE WITH HIS YOUNG FAMILY.  I THINK IT STARTED OUT PRETTY GOOD BUT THEN I NEVER GOT INTO IT MORE.
THE SCI-FI ROMANCE I HAVEN'T FOUND BUT IT SHOULD BE AROUND SOMEWHERE IN ONE OF THOSE FILES.  ITS FUN TO REMEMBER THE OLD DAYS WHEN MY BRAIN WORKED A BIT HARDER.  NOW I JUST PLOD ALONG BUT I ENJOY MOST DAYS SO NO COMPLAINTS.

TODAY I NEED TO GET BACK TO MY LAPS.  HAD NO TIME YESTERDAY WITH CRAFT MORNING AND THEN FINDING THE MSS.  IT TOOK ALL AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING TO READ, OVER 200 PAGES OF IT.
TODAY I DREW A PICTURE OF SNOOPY THINKING I WOULD USE HIM IN A DOOR HANGING WITH A CUTE SAYING, IF I CAN FIND ONE I LIKE.  I LOVE SNOOPY.
WITH CHICKEN RICE SOUP TO MAKE TONITE FOR MY SON'S VISIT TOMORROW, I HAVE A LIST TO COMPLETE.  THERE IS ALSO THE WIPING DOWN OF THE INSIDE OF THE FRIDGE WHICH DID NOT GET DONE YESTERDAY.  THESE LITTLE THINGS ADD UP.

STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S
