Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 10 ~ SAT AUGUST 16

WHOLLY HOLY BLOOPER......
HYMN 43:  "GREAT GOD, WHAT DO I SEE HERE?"
PREACHER:  THE REV. HORACE BLODDGETT
HYMN:  "HARK!  AN AWFUL VOICE IS SOUNDING."

ANOTHER SUNNY DAY.  MAY REACH 81.  GETTING COOLER.  I LIKE THAT.

OUR RAIN YESTERDAY LAST A WHOLE 10 MINUTES WITH A COUPLE OF THUNDER CRASHES.  THAT WAS IT.  THEN THE SUN CAME BACK OUT.  THE NEXT RAIN MAY BE HERE ON SUNDAY.  I HOPE IT DOES A LOT BETTER ON THAT DAY.
GOOD NEWS FROM DR.  LIKES THAT I LOST SOME WEIGHT.  KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.  NEXT VISIT IN 6 MONTHS WITH LABS.  WATCHING MY THYROID A BIT.
GRDAU G TOOK ME.  I FED HER LUNCH...A LONG ITALIAN SUB WITH TRIPLE MEAT AND CHEESE, CHEETOS, AND FRESH LEMONADE.  SHE HAS QUIT SMOKING ONCE AGAIN.  I EXPLAINED ABOUT FAMILY QUITTING IN THE PAST.  HER GRANDAD SUCKED ON LIFESAVERS WHEN HE GOT THE URGE TO EAT AND ONLY LOST A FW POUNDS.  ME, I QUIT FIRST AND LOVED EVERY PIECE OF FOOD THAT WENT INTO MY MOUTH AND GAINED 50 LBS. SHE SHOULD TAKE A PAGE FROM MY HUBBY'S METHOD.  WE ALSO TALKED ABOUT SMALLER PORTIONS BUT EAT WHAT YOU LIKE.  I HOPE SHE TAKES SOME OF THAT WISDOM AND USES IT.

JUDY.......I LEARNED THE HARD WAY.  WHEN MY PUTER TELLS ME NO INTERNET, I JUST RESTART IT AND ITS ALWAYS FINE AGAIN.  I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I WENT NUTS TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT UNTIL THAT LIGHT WENT ON IN MY BRAIN.  NOW ITS EASY PEASY.

CHERYL.....GOOD NEWS FROM YOUR CARDIO.  ITS ALWAYS SO GOOD TO HEAR.  GOOD FOR YOU.

DEVONNE......ITS GOOD YOU CAN LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF YOUR SURGERY.  AS FOR ME, I ALWAYS HAD SMALL BREASTS.  MY DEAR HUBBY TOLD ME "IF IT'S MORE THAN A HANDFUL, ITS A WASTE."  I WAS SO PLEASED HE COULD SAY THAT.  OF COURSE, MY HUBBY WAS A LEG MAN THRU AND THRU.  NOW IN MY OLD AGE I FIND I AM THRILLED I NEVER HAD LARGE BOOBS.  THESE DAYS I ONLY WEAR A BRA WHEN GOING TO MY DR VISITS.  THOUGH I NEED TO USE A AND D OINTMENT UNDER THOSE MINOR APPENDAGES TO KEEP FROM GETTING A RASH OR RUB.   ITS NEVER A REAL PROBLEM.

WHEN I READ BOOKS I SEE THE SCENES AND THE PEOPLE. LOVE 'SEEING' THE HORSES AND DOGS OR CATS AND FEEL I AM RIGHT THERE IN THE STORY. JUST READ A RITA MAE BROWN BOOK,  FOX AND HOUND, WITH FOX HUNTERS AND TOOK THE JUMPS WITH THE HORSES.  THEY DO NOT HURT THE FOX THESE DAYS.  WHEN THE FOX 'GOES TO GROUND' AS IN HIDING OUT IN A HOLE OR STONE FENCE, THEY CALL BACK THE DOGS AND GO TRY TO FIND A DIFFERENT FOX TO CHASE.  THEY ALSO SEE THAT THE LOCAL FOXES GET FED AND MEDICATIONS IN THE FOODS AGAINST TERRIBLE DISEASE. OLD TOWELS ARE LEFT NEAR THEIR DENS AND THE FOX TAKES THEM INSIDE TO MAKE A COMFY AND WARM BED.   ANYWAY, I REALLY ENJOY  LIVING THE SCENES.  I GUESS THAT'S WHY I DO NOT READ THINGS WITH BLO.OD AND GO.RE.  I LOVE MYSTERIES BUT THEY ARE WHAT IS KNOWN NOW AS 'COZY MYSTERIES.'  YOU RARELY SEE THE ACTUAL MURDER AND ITS USUALLY A PERSON THAT'S NOT A VERY NICE PERSON.  I NEVER READ 'REAL LIFE' MURDER STORIES.  I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT AND I WOULD CRY A RIVER FOR THE VICTIMS.

I SENT HOME MOST OF MY AMISH COUNTRY BEEF CASSEROLE TO MY DAUGHTER SINCE THERE ARE 4 IN THE FAMILY, AND SHE SAID THEY ALL ENJOYED IT.  I SAVED JUST ENOUGH FOR ME FOR 2 SMALL PORTIONS.  TODAY I WILL HAVE TO HAVE SOMETHING ELSE FOR LUNCH BUT TONITE I PLAN TO MAKE MY HOMEMADE GROUND BEEF AND PEPPERONI PIZZA.  I WILL SHARE OR ELSE I WILL EAT THE WHOLE THING MYSELF IN 2 DAYS.  CAN'T HAVE THAT THESE DAYS.
WHILE I WAS OUT TO THE DR 2 LADIES FINISHED MY LATEST PUZZLE.  I WAS SO GLAD.  ITS A GOOD WAY FOR THEM TO WHILE AWAY SOME TIME AND KEEPS THE BRAINBOX WORKING.  THEN LAST NITE I STARTED A NEW ONE WHEN I WENT OUT TO READ, AND HAVE THE OUTSIDE BORDER DONE.  ITS AN AMERICANA SCENE THIS TME.
I AM THINKING OF TRYING SOME HAND APPLIQUE TO TAKE TO CRAFT MORNINGS.  NOW I JUST HAVE TO FIND SOME PATTERNS I REALLY LIKE.  I HAVE A COUPLE OF BOOKS WITH GOOD PATTERNS.  I AM TIRED OF MAKING CROCHETED DISH CLOTHS.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 10 ~ SAT AUGUST 16

Cheryl, I never have shoes on in the house, so they are for going out. I wore them to PT yesterday.

Manda, Ben, Amary and Garrett got here around 7:30 last night. They had gotten pizza and cheesesteaks and a panzarotti at our local place on the way. We had a nice visit, but they were tired from travel so turned in around 10. They got up this morning, had 2 breakfasts, showered, packed up and they just left to meet Heather, Steph and Jules in NYC.

Upper 80’s today. We had a bad storm go thru yesterday afternoon.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 10 ~ SAT AUGUST 16

Devonne, did you ever figure out what those lights were you saw in your bedroom?

When reading, I also "see" the scenes and characters.  I guess that is why when I see a movie based on a book, I am usually disappointed.  I
read all of the Virgin River books by Robyn Carr.  I did watch a few of the Virgin River shows on TV, but the characters were "off" to me.  It did not catch me.  I think I watched the first 3 seasons then got bored.  They also got pretty violent, which was not in the books.

Holly, I asked because my mom always wore shoes in the house.  I am always barefooted.  lol.  She got up in the morning, fixed her hair (which was very long), put on a full face of makeup and always her shoes.  She always looked pretty and presentable and I most often look like a bum in my shorts, T shirts and or sweat pants.

I did boil the fresh corn and we had a couple ears for supper along with sliced tomato and grilled chicken breast.  Then I took the kernels off the remaining corn and bagged it for the freezer.

Today was hot and humid again and we really need rain.  It has been 15 days here without rain.

Holly, what is panzarotti?

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 10 ~ SAT AUGUST 16

Cheryl, panzarotti’s are fantastic. A rectangle of pizza dough, pizza sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni or whatever meat you want. Fold it over, crimp the edges and bake or deep fry it. I think Ben’s had pepperoni and mushrooms. I haven’t had one in forever, but so good! Garrett had a small deep dish pizza, and he had 3 slices last night and one for breakfast. He said it’s the best pizza he’s ever had. Ben said the closest they get to good pizza in WA is Papa John’s. We don’t do chains for pizza, we have real pizza parlors here.

That’s funny about your mom. My mom never wore slacks til she was in her 40’s, but she never wore makeup.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 10 ~ SAT AUGUST 16

HOLLY wonderful to have the family over, enjoy the visit, I know you miss them being close (((hugs))) I had pizza tonight, but thin crust, and not too much toppings, my favourite, I really don't like the deep dish ones, we had some when we were in the US,  in Chicago AND in the big mall in NJ close to NY - we're all different LOL I have to wear shoes - al the time, or slippers in winter in the house, my feet don't like it if I don't wear good shoes, my  arches have strong opinions on that LOL

DEVONNE how odd!! I wonder if it was someone with a laser light, or maybe a plane flying low?? I to a shock a couple nights ago, got up  around 2.30am could have sworn that someone was in our driveway, nope, just driving down the street, but the lights shone through.

CHERYL yum on the corn, saw some last night in our grocery store, it looked like pretty good, no idea where it came from as it's not local right now LOL Perhaps in the far north. I love the taste of it fresh in summer!

BJ I am glad you enjoy our little sharing stories, I love that you can check in with each day (((( hugs))))

SANDRA it's good to have a few people who can call Bingo -  not much fun if you have to do it each time, I hope you find some needlework of some kind, I do Sashiko, or even some English Paper piecing if I need to take some hand sewing, or maybe even knit some wash cloths, they are always useful at least. Good report from the Dr, well done!

CHERYL I have heard about Virgin River haven't watched it, we read a series a long time ago, Wheel Of Time, they have made a TV show from it, the books are very big, and he wrote at least 10, maybe more - our Gary started me on them, I got them out for a friend to see if she wants to read them, Pete and I were talking at dinner about how we saw a little of one of the shows, and it's all wrong!!!! Even the story didn't seem right, they sure can ruin good book!

INDY  I am so blessed with my sis, as you are with your DD, I took a trip up to see her and Fletcher, he is so tiny you forget how small they are, I took soup and the banana bread, and stopped of fresh crusty bread and some salads. I also took Miss Bridie's books, she was really happy, I made sure to see her first when I went in.

Fletch now is the exact image of his daddy LOL unbelievable, he looked like Ruari when he was born but he really has changed in just a couple days. I got a long cuddle, he slept up my shoulder, almost laying flat. I think he's going to be a tummy sleeper, he was holding his head up when I took him, so I tried laying him down on my lap and he loved it, Bridie seems to be happy now mum is home, no more talk of him living with Brookie LOL She helped dad bath him yesterday, and also got up with them at 2am for his feed and held his hand. She usually sleeps through  the night LOL

We've figured out why I'm "other nan"  ---   when my sis arrived she told her mum "other nan" is here, I told her, 'that's nanny call me Trish Bridie', but she insists that whoever is there first is nan the other one of us is 'other' nan, she'll figure it out when she's older. I just keep reminding her, I don't want her to upset my sis.

I'll see if I can post the pic my sis took of us.

Well, no idea what is wrong, the postage site isn't working, I'll try tomorrow

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 10 ~ SAT AUGUST 16

SIGNS OF THE TIMES......
IN THE WINDOW OF A KENTUCKY APPLIANCE STORE:  DON'T KILL YOUR WIFE.  LET OUR WASHING MACHINES DO THE DIRTY WORK.

ANOTHER GORGEOUS DAY.  RAIN MAYBE THIS WEEKEND.  CROSSING MY FINGERS.

I MADE HOMEMADE PIZZA LAST NITE BUT DID NOT HAVE PEPPERONI SO JUST CHEESE AND HAMBURGER.....LOTS OF SAUCY HAMBURG.  I BROWN IT THEN ADD A COUPLE TABLESPOONS OF PIZZA SAUCE AND COOK A COUPLE  MINS MORE.  I SHARED IT WITH 2 OTHERS HERE.  THEY GAVE IT A 'THUMBS UP' EVEN WITHOUT PEPPERONI.  I LIKED IT.
ON THE SUBJECT OF MAKE-UP.....I WAS A WORKING GIRL FOR MANY YEARS, TWICE FOR NEWSPAPERS (A BIG DAILY AND THEN A WEEKLY) AND ONCE FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL COMPANY, FROM OFFICE CLERK TO MANAGER OF THE OFFICE.  I ONLY WORE LIPSTICK AND NOW AND AGAIN A BIT OF EYESHADOW IF I WAS GOING OUT TO DINNER AT NITE.  THAT'S IT FOLKS.  NOW I DON'T USE ANY MAKEUP AT ALL.
AND I GO BAREFOOT AT HOME.  EVEN THO I HAD THAT FASCIA THING IN MY FEET SOME YEARS AGO AND HAD TO WEAR SPECIALLY MADE INSERTS IN MY SHOES AND GET CORTISONE SHOTS, I HAVE NO SUCH PROBLEM NOW GOING BAREFOOTED.  I ONLY PUT ON SLIP-ONS WHEN I LEAVE MY APT.  IN THE WINTER IF I FEEL A BIT CHILL, I WILL WEAR SOCKS, BUT STILL NO SHOES.
WE HAD A GUNMAN IN THE AREA LAST NITE.  I GOT AN ALERT ON MY PHONE TO STAY INSIDE, LOCK DOORS, PHONE POLICE IF ANYONE SUSPICIOUS AROUND.  HE SHOT AT PEOPLE AT OUR LOCAL WALMART AND HANNAFORD MARKET.  I DID NOT HEAR THAT ANYONE GOT INJURED BUT THERE WAS A MANHUNT LAST NITE.

SWEET CORN IN THE HUSK......I MAY HAVE MENTIONED THIS BEFORE BUT ITS WORTH THE RISK.   I COOK MY SWEET CORN IN THE MICROWAVE.  LEAVE IT IN THE HUSK.  PLACE IT IN THE MICROWAVE FOR 4 MINS. ON HI.  REMOVE CAREFULLY, ITS HOT.  I USE A POTHOLDER TO GRAB IT.  HOLD IT BY THE NARROW END AND CUT OFF ABOUT 1 INCH UP INTO THE CORN COB AREA.  WHEN THAT IS REMOVED YOU JUST SLIDE THE CORN UP A BIT AT A TIME BY MOVING YOUR POTHOLDER UP THE NARROW END.  WHEN IT COMES OUT OF THE HUSK THE SILKS ARE GONE.  I SOMETIMES STICK A FORK IN THE CORN AND GIVE IT A LITTLE HELP COMING CLEAN OF THE HUSK.  EASY PEASY.

ITS SATURDAY SO AN EASY DAY FOR ME REALLY. I SORT MY PILLS, CLEAN THE BATHROOM, AND VACUUM MY 2 RUGS.  DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TIME OR EFFORT.  AS FOR COOKING, NOT NECESSARY TODAY.  BUT TOMORROW I THINK I WILL MAKE A CHICKEN BAKE WITH ZUCCHINI, SUMMER SQUASH, AND POTATOES.  I HAVE FRESH-FROM-THE-GARDEN PRODUCE I WANT TO USE UP.
THIS MORNING ITS FRUIT AND APPLE JUICE FOR BREAKFAST AND MY PIZZA FOR LUNCH AND SUPPER.  I NEED TO GET IT EATEN SO NO MORE LEFTOVERS.  I GAVE AWAY MOST LAST NITE.
THAT'S IT FOLKS.  STAY SAFE.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 10 ~ SAT AUGUST 16

We've had our daily trauma!  Involving our cell phones  and those on-line chats that are supposed to help, but don't.  Howard has been to town continuing the saga with our phones and, then,  to the grocery to get more of the bargains we got yesterday.  Tiny delicious tomatoes, fresh mushrooms, and organic head lettuce all for 98 cents each.  Of course, and too often, the store charged him $3.00 a head for the lettuce which was supposed to be 98 cents for two.  I've already called them...When you're checking out at a place where it's 'pack your own groceries', you can't watch everything.  Even when we're both there, it happens.  The good thing is they always refund those mistakes, but it still takes time and gas to trek back in there.

Happy time, Holly for you and Ralph.  Enjoy every moment with them.  Sounds like that won't be a problem!

I'm also a shoe wearer.  Main reason, now, is cold feet when barefoot, followed by formerly having plantar fasciitis that has left me with a super need for good supporting shoes.  I was a barefoot farm kid in the summer, but no more and for a long time.  How can we all be so different????

Sometimes the picture on the book jacket causes the disappointment for me. In my mind, I picture the characters very different, usually hair color, than what the artist does.   And the actors they pick for movies often look wrong.

Trish, the baby sounds so precious.  Lucky you to get your hands on a newborn!  Sweet that Bridey is already coming around.   She's had a mind of her own since she was born, so no wonder she had to figure it out for herself.    Hope Chloe is feeling much better.

Howard is upstairs watching football.    ML asked me this morning if he would be watching it up there.  I ASSURED her he would!  Him and the bird!   A sweet story about the bird:  I had to go up there a day or so ago  to show Howard something and sadly, I seldom do, because of the stairs.  I sat down for a bit and the bird flew to my shoulder and wanted to "kiss", and kiss and kiss  about 5 times.  And he warbled and sang to me.  He always was "my" bird and I need to spend some time with him.

One last thing...yesterday, Howard saw a pulmonologist.  The first thing he said as he came through the door was "You don't have COPD."  He had a printout of H.'s pulmonary function test in hand.  He says he has asthma. Gave him a sample of a different inhaler to try for a month and proceeded to urge him to lose weight and said if he did, his asthma would improve.  Then, he looked at me and said he didn't want to insult me, but I should also lose some weight.  Very surprising because nary a one of our doctors ever mention our weight!  We both liked him and understand his concern.  He seemed to assume that we eat donuts, pasta, bread, and chips.  Yes, some but not overly.    So, I had just bought a bunch of veggies and thus, it's why Howard went back to the grocery gor more, since he was in town.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUGUST 10 ~ SAT AUGUST 16

Cheryl and Trish, I never did figure out what the lights were. It looked like green string lights. Sometimes when I cough or sneeze really hard, I occasionally see a quick flash of light, but it's white & this was nothing like that.

Greg and I went to our new Chipotle. It's expensive and way too much food. We both got the bowl with rice, beans, etc. He had a buy one/get one free and it was still $20. It would have been $40 without that coupon! It was $2.75 extra to get the guacamole and $1.75 extra to get queso blanco. Think I will stay with the mexican restaurant that I like much better.

Cheryl, I loved the Virgin River series, watched some of it twice, lol!

I went barefoot growing up, even outside. My podiatrist said do not go barefoot, even in the house. I still do, but the last month I've been putting on shoes. If I ever get rid of this carpet and get LVP, I won't be able to go barefoot. No cushioning and little padding and my house is on a slab! I've had tendonitis twice in my ankle and had to wear that stupid, aggravating boot! I'm sure he is right because of the support shoes give you.

Greg sold his "old" Tesla two days ago. The young guy texted him today and said "it's just like new!" He was happy! I'm sure he's glad he no longer has two car payments! I am getting a little more used to the CRV. I love that I got a white one and it's tan inside.

Trish, I hope we can see a picture of Fletcher when you get time! That was so nice of you to take all that food.

Judy, that was so cute about "your" bird giving you kisses!
