Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

FROM COMEDIAN NIPSEY RUSSELL:
THE CANNIBAL SAID TO HIS WIFE, "I DON'T LIKE YOUR MOTHER!"
"THEN JUST EAT THE VEGETABLES."

EXPECTED DELIGHTFUL DAYS AT 70S AND THEN ON THURS AND FRI HITTING 90 AGAIN.  YIKES.

JUDY.....I DO HAVE GOOD LIGHTING WHEN I READ.  IN THAT INSTANCE OUR POWER HAD GONE OUT SO I WENT TO THE COMMON ROOM WHERE THERE ARE LOTS OF WINDOWS AND BETTER LIGHTING SO I COULD READ MY BOOK.  WHEN THE POWER GOES OUT MY APT GETS PRETTY DARK.
ITS GREAT YOU HAD A GOOD TIME AT THE PICNIC.  THEY SEEM TO PUT ON A GOOD FEED EVERY YEAR.

JANET.....I HOPE YOU ARE DOING BETTER TODAY.

MY NEIGHBOR CONNIE BROUGHT ME A MUFFIN THIS MORNING FROM COFFEE MORNING.  I DON'T USUALLY GO SINCE I WAKE UP TOO LATE AND THEN GETTING MYSELF SHOWERED AND DRESSED TAKES SOME TIME.  I JUST DON'T BOTHER.  CONNIE HAS BEEN BRINGING ME SOME HOMEMADE THINGS ON TUESDAYS NOW.  SHE'S VERY THOUGHTFUL.
THIS AFTERNOON ITS CRIBBAGE TIME AND I THINK I WILL BE GOING AFTER LUNCH.
I MADE MY POTATO PANCAKES YESTERDAY AND HAVE ENOUGH FOR LUNCH TODAY.  THE CHICKEN I BAKED SO IT WOULDN'T GO BAD AND NEED TO USE IT.  ITS EITHER A SKILLET MEAL WITH RICE OR POTATOES.  I NEED TO USE UP SOME POTATOES SO MAY GO THAT ROUTE.

I CHECKED MY FARMER'S CHEESE ORDER.  SHIPPED. SHOULD ARRIVE WEDNESDAY BEFORE 8 PM.  I CAN HARDLY WAIT.  I CAN SHARE WITH MY DAUGHTER SINCE ITS HOUSECLEANING WEEK FOR HER AT MY HOUSE.

HAVE A GOOD DAY MY FRIENDS.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Afternoon y'all!

I'm doing OK!

Kids are thriving!  No shocker there!  Luke is having some new neighbor issues, they start blasting music before 6 am.  They also have been complaining that he walks too loud!  A child who walks so softly he could sneak up on you!?!  I say child, he is technically an adult!  I told him to call the apartment complex  office to see what his options were for this.  They said they would take care of it.  Sounds like it's not the first neighbor to call!

Simba is his silly, bowling ball head self!  One has to be careful around him, he will run into you to get some love, belly rubs etc, but does not realize his strength!

Mom was unresponsive Friday.  By Sunday she was talking some, drank almost 2 cans of Fresca for me!  Yesterday the CNA that had her left her in the bed covered in bodily waste!  I was livid!  I went straight to the directors office and told her.  She sent the tech into the room to fix the issue!  Mom now has bedsores from leaving her in one position with that stuff on her!  I am ready to throttle someone!  The director of nursing came to talk to me and said she was going to have a sit down chat with this person!  I helped them change her and the bed, staying as hands off as I could since I had no gloves.  I took the linen and bagged it to bring home to wash.  Got it immaculate in one wash!  Maybe I am the stain remover queen!

My brother's son is bringing his wife and kids to see her this weekend sometime.  He cares about his granny!  The other child will not talk to me.  My kids say he is afraid of me!  His loss, not mine!

I am hinting to my NSDB that mom is not doing well, I think I need to come out and just say, if you want to see her, before she goes to be with dad, you need to get your fanny here!  Not that that will register with him!

I told my Dniece that she does not want to see granny like this.  Keep the memories she has, because they are better than what she will see.  She would have to fly here!  She is living paycheck to paycheck, no need for that expense!

Today is my day to stay home.  I got a lot of day lily canes pulled, along with Virginia creeper, muscadine vines, poison ivy, and various weeds pulled from the day lily garden.  They were beautiful this year.  The most blooms I have ever seen, and I took the time to enjoy them.  I didn't pick them, because then the neighbors could not enjoy them, but I saw them every time I came home, anytime I left the house, they made me feel at peace!

Not much else happening.  I'm just busy, a bit more than usual.

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

I got a message from Tracy, and she said it’s ok to share. BJ’s Frank has congestive heart failure and pulmonary edema. They see the regular doc on Friday, and she’s trying to get the cardiologist to see him sooner than his September appt. I suggested she ask the primary to call cardiologist to get him in sooner. That’s all I know for now, will share if she tells me any more.

Theresa, I’m glad your mom has you for an advocate! And good for you for warning your brother and his family, no one could say they didn’t know.

After PT, and after the house cleaner left, I had to take a nap! None of the PT stuff is individually hard, but cumulatively it’s a workout!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Theresa, all I can do is send you ((hugs)).  Prayers for your mom.  Our Bosco is like Simba in that he will run straight into you!  Not around, just into.  He knocked my granddaughter Abby, down this past weekend.  She is afraid of big dogs, and this did not help the situation.  She did not get hurt.

Sandra, we must have similar weather.  It was 76 and beautiful today but supposed to get a heat wave on Thursday with a 100 degree heat index.  Thank goodness Aaron's A/C finally got repaired.  He said his house is still not real cool, but better than it was.

Trisha, sounds like a wonderful van for your kids!  We sold ours last summer since we rarely got out.  Ours had two queen beds and two smaller bunks for the kids.  I only agreed to camp the last few years if I had a bathroom in the camper!  lol!  Amelia wants to tent camp; I said papa can take you cause I am not sleeping on the ground.

Holly, Amelia turned 12 in June too.  I cannot believe the years have flown by so quickly.  Gabriel was 16 in May and still has no desire to drive, which we all find quite humorous.  He has drum line (band) practice every evening this week and Aaron was hoping that G would be driving himself these days.  Not to be.

Holly, I just finished "One Step Too Far" by Lisa Gardner. It is set in the mountains of Wyoming and it is a Frankie Elkin story.  I liked it.

Nothing else to say. Take care all.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

HOLLY thanks for the update for Frank, I have marked those authors, too much to do right now to get books LOL I have tons of work to do in the garage. PT does get tiring doesn't it.

SANDRA hope the cheese came, and I hope you don't have more power outages, I hate them, pain in the neck to adjust all times, the oven I never bother with now, but the bedside clocks etc all need to change. Sounds like a few hot days coming your way, stay cool.

CHERYL you're like me, I only "camp" in good hotels LOL Megan's Alfie is the same, knock you over to say hello

THERESA it just doesn't stop, so good to hear your nephew is going toes mu, and I agree, seeing her is not gratifying for your neon, but if she wants to do so let her come, or maybe you can FaceTime her, just so she can see her one last time. She has her own share of problems, so sorry for all you have to deal with ((((hugs))))

INDY it's always lovely t0har about you spending tome at Gabriel, they certainly were wonderful carers for mum, makes such a difference when you have care.
I have already started loading the bin of things I want to discard, he hasn't commented - yet LOL

I had a busy day, he's been bugging me about what to pack, as long as he has clothes I really don't care. and his meds LOL

He leaves in the morning, I might cancel training, as John will be here later in the morning and I can get a lt done early. I went to get tyres for Pete's car today, he had a flat tyre in the carport and  he leaves a spare set of keys at home always. I know he planned to go on Friday during his lunch hour, but I had nothing urgent today, so I got tyres and the wheels aligned etc. He was very grateful and is insisting on buying me dinner on Friday, and on the weekend as well. He paid of course as well.

Megan is worried about Oscar, he has been out of sorts, and not wanting to jump up on the sofa, I suspect Alfie might have accidentally hurt him playing, it has happened before, and Oscar is such a little wimp he decides that if it hurt once it will always LOL She's monitoring him, hopefully he'll be back to normal tomorrow. John is home till the cleaners get there, and he can always bring Oscar here and leave Alfie home, although Alfie will probably cry and bark if he's left alone. He's a big sook too!!

It was warmer during the day today, so winter is losing its grip, but we will still get lots of cold weather yet. Still cold enough to put the electric blanket on to warm up the bed - I always turn it off before I get in though. I forgot once, woke up drenched and feeling drained - I don't forget now!

I am trying to figure out a pattern Julie gave me, it's foundation pricing, and I have a photo of the block and have to figure out where to put the colours, it's the centre of a quilt and it will grow by borders, Medallion quilt?? is that what it's called. I think I have it right now. I need to ring my local LQS  tomorrow to see if one of the other stores has more of one of the fabrics, they can transfer to my local branch if we can find it, I bought all my local had. We could choose to do  the centre as EPP or the foundation so it's foundation for me!

BJ I do hope you feel OK tomorrow.

STRINGS I am so glad to see you popping in more often!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Good morning, ladies!

I'm trying to decide if I want my groceries delivered or go get them myself. If I go out, I will get lunch first.

I picked up the tool chest on Sunday and it's still in my car. Greg said "Mom, it weighs 170 lbs.! It will take both me and Gary to get it out." I didn't realize it weighed so much, so no groceries will fit in the back.

I feel great today. I still have tightness in my chest from the surgery. I read it takes months to get better. It's been 7 months; I hope it goes away. I ordered one of those exercise rubber things with handles on it to try and help. Also ordered some magnesium cream rub for muscle tightness.

It's getting hotter. The next few days in the upper 80's, but next week in the middle 90's. I won't be going anywhere in that heat, so I better get my grocery list finished today.

Trish, is EPP English paper piecing? Do you do EPP by hand sewing the pieces? What design is your main center block? There are quilt patterns I've always wanted to do. Some are the famous log cabin pattern, the flower garden, a dahlia quilt, dresden plate and Irish chain pattern. I love them all!

I haven't put gas in the CRV since I bought it, but decided I better make sure I know how to open it, etc. It doesn't have the traditional gas cap you have to remove. That is new to me! I am loving Apple Play. It has a Bose sound system, which is wonderful.

TWO-HEADED HEADLINE....
MAY BE FOUL PLAY IN DEATH OF MAN FOUND BOUND AND HANGED.

NICE AND SUNNY TODAY BUT MAY GET TOO WARM.  LUCKY US ONLY A COUPLE REALLY HOT DAYS AND THEN BACK TO 70S AND 80S.

SORRY TO HEAR OF BJ'S FRANK'S DIAGNOSIS.  MY MOM HAD CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE AND LIVED FOR SOME YEARS AFTER THAT AND DID PRETTY WELL.

THERESA.....ANOTHER DUD FOR MOM.  DO YOU REPORT THESE INFRACTIONS TO THE STATE HEALTH AND WELFARE DEPT?  IT SEEMS THEY NEED TO LOOK INTO THESE PLACES MORE THOROUGHLY.

CHERYL.....ITS NICE THAT AARON FINALLY HAS HIS A/C FIXED SO HE CAN STOP THE SWELTERING. IT TOOK LONG ENOUGH.

LINDA.....GOOD TO SEE YOU POSTING MORE OFTEN.  I LIKE THAT.

DEVONNE.....IF ITS GOING TO BE TERRIBLY HOT THERE I DON'T BLAME YOU FOR GETTING THE SHOPPING DONE NOW SO YOU CAN STAY INSIDE WITH A/C COMFORT.

TRISH......YOU ARE ALWAYS SO BUSY WITH QUILT PROJECTS.  I ADMIRE THAT.

ME, I ONLY HAVE MY TRASH TO TAKE OUT AND A BIT OF THIS AND THAT.  I'M HOPING MY DAU GETS A DAY OFF TOMORROW SO SHE CAN COME CLEAN MY ABODE.  IT NEEDS IT.  I CAN ONLY DO THE SURFACE STUFF.
YESTERDAY I MADE A CHICKEN AND POTATO HASH AND HAD IT WITH CREAMED CORN ON THE SIDE.  TODAY I HAVE LOTS OF LEFTOVERS.  I JUST SEEM TO COOK TOO MUCH FOOD AT A TIME. I AM TRYING TO DO BETTER.
YES, I ALWAYS THINK AHEAD AND TAKE SOME MEAT FROM THE FREEZER TO DEFROST FOR LATER MEALS.  WHEN ITS DEFROSTED THEN, OF COURSE, I NEED TO COOK IT.  DON'T WANT TO WASTE ANY FOOD.  TODAY I WILL TAKE OUT STEW BEEF SO I CAN MAKE SOME VEGGIE BEEF STEW FOR SATURDAY WHEN MY SON COMES FOR LUNCH AND DOES MY SHOPPING.

THAT'S IF FROM MY CORNER OF THE WORLD.  STAY SAFE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Good Morning to everyone!!  Tracy is still sleeping, she must be really tired.  I know she was up a lot in the night, trying to help out with Frank.  I know he was up in the night, as was I. The nurses were here for awhile.

We'll see how he does today.  It's a little scary to have him be so sick.  Well, I'm so tired, I guess I'll sign off.  Sorry to be so short, but I can't seem to do much this morning.  Hopefully you all will have a nice day,BJ

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Cheryl, I really like Lisa Gardner’s books. I just finished Live to Tell, which is a DD Warren one. A lot of the book takes placed in a locked child psych unit, and was interesting and sad.

We had lunch with friends at Iron Hill Brewery. We always enjoy seeing them, and the food is always good. I only slept 5 hours last night, and it wasn’t good sleep, so I took a long nap on the couch when we got home.

Good Morning to everyone!!  Tracy just got up, she is with her Dad.  I took him some coffee, not sure he can drink it, we'll see!!  I can't seem to do much this morning.  Thank God that Tracy is here, not sure what I'd do without her.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

ACCIDENTAL BLOOPER.....
THE ACCIDENT WAS DUE TO THE OTHER MAN'S NARROWLY MISSING ME.

GORGEOUS DAY OUT THERE BUT HITTING 89 EXPECTED.  RIGHT NOW ITS 86.  TO HOT FOR ME TO SIT OUTDOORS.

NOT MUCH HAPPENING ON THE BOARD.  AS FOR ME, YIPPEE.....I WON $5 AT BINGO LAST NITE.  ITS ALWAYS SO GOOD TO WIN EVEN A DOLLAR.  WITH 5 I CAN DO MY LAUNDRY THIS WEEK AND HAVE SOME CHANGE LEFT OVER.

MY FARMER'S CHEESE ARRIVED SO I HAD A 4-OZ PIECE FOR MY SUPPER LAST NITE WITH SOME CASHEW NUTS AND LEMONADE.  IT WAS JUST ENOUGH TO PLEASE MY TUM TUM.
MY GRANDDAU IS COMING TOMORROW TO CLEAN FOR ME.  SHE HAS A FEW THINGS ON THE LIST WHICH ARE A BIT TOUGH FOR ME TO HANDLE WELL SO ITS A BLESSING.  I WILL PAY HER.  I DON'T WANT MY KIDS TO EVER SAY I TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THEM IN MY OLD AGE.   I STILL CONTINUE TO DO THE SIMPLE STUFF.  LIKE TODAY, I HAVE TO CLEAN OFF MY KITCHEN COUNTERS AND DUST.
I WORKED ON THE JIGSAW PUZZLE A BIT THIS MORNING AFTER I DID MY LAPS.  ITS A TOUGHER ONE THAN USUAL.  ITS TAKING A LONG TIME TO MATCH THE PIECES FOR BOTH ME AND JUDY WHO ALSO WORKS ON IT.
OH YES, AND IT WAS CRAFT MORNING.  LOVE THESE DAYS.  WE HAD A FEW FOLKS DROP BY TO CHAT AND THERE WERE THE REGULARS.  ONE LADY HAS ARTHRITIS BADLY IN HER HANDS SO CAN'T DO ANY HANDWORK BUT SHE COMES TO TALK.  AND TALK SHE DOES.  TALK, TALK, TALK.  WHENEVER SHE SHOWS UP WE KNOW THAT OUR EARS WILL BE BENT FROM THE STORIES SHE TELLS.  ON THE WHOLE I FIND HER INTERESTING.  SO I ENJOY THE VISITS.  SHE'S LIVED A FULL LIFE IN 9 STATES SO HAS MANY STORIES TO TELL.  WE ALSO SHARE AN INTEREST, HORSES.  HER FATHER TRAINED STANDARDBREDS, THE TROTTERS OF THE HORSE WORLD, AND THEY RAN IN BOTH MAINE AND N.H.
THAT'S ALL I CAN THINK OF TO SHARE WITH YOU TODAY.

BJ......I HOPE YOU GET SOME BETTER NEWS ABOUT FRANK AND HOW HE'S COPING WITH HIS PROBLEMS.  AND THANKFULLY YOU KEEP ON TICKING AND TRYING TO KEEP A 'NORMAL' DAY.  HUGS FOR YOU, FRANK AND YOUR DAUGHTER.  SHE'S HANDLING THINGS SO MUCH FOR YOU THESE DAYS.

BE SAFE AND ENJOY EACH DAY LADIES.  HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Happy Anniversary to Theresa and Todd.  Wishing you many more!  Was your outing last week to celebrate your anniversary early?

Very hot and humid today.  I wonder if they took the fair animals home before this heat wave hit yesterday?  The poultry, especially, are at risk.   Our poor excuse for a local newspaper still has not had one word in it about the fair.

Not much going on here...except the air conditioner.    So funny, I know.  I'm making ramen slaw for our small group get together tomorrow.  Got the ingredients when we went grocery shopping yesterday.

Saturday, we are going to the open house for the kid next door.  It's at a park in the town we used to live in but in one of the bldgs. with a/c.  thankfully.    Last kid, so last open house for them.  No food required...I offered, though.

QB, don't beat yourself up over the memory lapses.  It happens, but does make one feel bad.
Hard to keep all the balls in the air, all the time.

Prayers for Frank, BJ.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Judy, yummy! That ramen slaw is one of my favorites!  I only make it when going to outings because I am the only one in my family here who likes it.  I did not think of the heat and the animals at the fair.  We have two in the area right now  and I agree, it is too hot for them.

Today it is 92 at the  moment and supposed to hit 100 heat index.  I had my AC off for a few days but we did close all the windows and turned it on today.

Had my check up and labs done yesterday.  All look good, especially LDL cholesterol, which was not good last time, with the exception of that dratted A1c.  It is now 6.1, which is NOT good.  If It gets to 6.5, it is a true type 2 diabetic diagnosis.  So, I really have to watch those carbs.  My glucose level was only 97 so not sure why the A1c was so high.

Happy Anniversary Theresa!  Hope you and Todd have a nice day.
Sandra, congrats on the bingo win!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Holly, I should have said graduation open house.  Aiden  graduated in June but is having his open house, now.  He is supposed to be getting his driver's license this week so he can drive himself to his open house.  I've told this before...they adopted their first son from Romania.  He'd been left on the orphanage steps at birth.  He's obviously of Gypsy decent, tall, dark and handsome with the singing voice of an angel.  Has a chronic issue with blood clots, really, really needs to be on a blood thinner but mostly refuses to take it.  Their second son was adopted from Russia.  Has some sort of a behavioral issue.  Is always polite and nice to us, as is the first but has nearly driven his mother crazy.   They're both out of the house.   Aiden, just turned 19, is their surprise natural child.  Lazy, refuses to even bring eggs over to us and they allow him that and anything else he wants.  Never has to do anything at all around the house.  Plays video games.  Has some sort of bowel issue, but has been under a doctor's care, always, and has checked out with nothing wrong at Riley Children's hospital in Indpls. His schools, all the way through, were very "understanding" of his chronic absences and in my opinion, were glad to see the last of him, so graduated him.    They're five years apart in age.  They each came here, occasionally,  from the bus if their parents were delayed.  We were always fine with that.  I fed them a snack and they told all the family secrets without being pumped.  Once, I told Shena "they tell everything" and she laughed and said, "I know!"  They're like family so I guess I feel I can talk about them. But, maybe it's gossip...

I MADE UP SOME TUNA SALAD AND SOME LEMONADE FOR THE TWO OF US TO SHARE FOR LUNCH TODAY WITH CHIPS FOR HER, NONE FOR ME.  I HAVE LOST 7 LBS SO FAR.  MY TUMMY DOESN'T SEEM TO MIND NO GETTING OVERSTUFFED EVERY NITE MAKING IT EASY TO KEEP TO MY EATING PLAN.
MY SON WANTS TO GO TO THE BEACH TOMORROW SO HE WILL SHOP ON SUNDAY FOR ME.  LUCKY ME I WILL SEE FAMILY TWO DAYS THIS WEEKEND.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

At PT they were doing Christmas in July. The whole place was decorated, they were in Xmas themed outfits, and had Xmas music playing. It was fun. We stopped at Panera on the way home, and got lunch and dinner.

Now we’re in for the day, because it’s 92 out! Yikes!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Holly, that Christmas in July annoys the heck out of me!   So stupid.  Once again, the merchants have created a "holiday".

Hot and humid today....almost soupy outside.  I watered my flowers early and have stayed inside since.

I have wasted the day doing nothing.  I guess I will go do that again and do some reading.
