Hello all!
We had tornado warnings all around us night before last. We did lose power once again for 16 hours. I told Dean not to bother with the generator because as soon as he gets it ready, the lights come back on. He slept in a recliner chair all night so he could check on the sump pump. That is our main worry with the hard rain and not electricity; the sump pump over flows and the basement floods. Thank goodness that did not happen and the rain tapered off to a drizzle. Lots of lightening and very high wind. I thought all was well afterward, but darn it, it got my desk top computer. Fried the power source. My amazing hubby can fix anything and he was able to put a new one in today. It works great. I did not want to start over with a new computer. I did write down how to get on this site in case it happens again. Could not get on for a couple days.
I don't have any dresses in my closet either. Last time I wore one was Anthony's wedding in 2005. I do have a long black skirt still hanging there, but I have not worn it either for a long, long time.
I have never named a sewing machine or car either. Amelia calls her dad's red Toyota Sienna van Princess. He has it for sale since he bought the Rav4 but so far, no takers for it. It does have high mileage, but Toyota's run forever.
Holly, I finished the "Someone we know" book by Shari Lapena. It was good, but not like the other one.
Trish, beautiful picture of the Gold Coast! Glad to hear the Mr. had a great time.
Going to make some baked cod for supper, so I guess I should go get it ready. Aaron asked for some Orange Roughy with orange sauce the other day. Geeze, I have not made that for years. He said it is the only fish he remembers liking.
Sandra, your Iris door hanger is pretty. I love irises but I have no luck growing them. Keep us posted on those water lotuses. Sounds interesting for sure.

The last dress I bought for was my daughter’s first wedding. I wore it for the ceremony and beginning of the reception. It had a break away skirt. I work black leggings underneath! 🙂. Quite a surprise for most to see. lol. My DIL was shocked!!
The time before? DS’s wedding…10 years before that. I hardly ever work a dress/skirt all the years I taught….

I do have a couple of dresses to wear out if there's an occasion and several non-pants that I wear around here in the summer. The one I wear most is my muu muu if that's considered a dress. Since the current fashion is to go bare legged, my two are rather maxi-s since my legs are not presentable for baring.
Like you, Mary Lou, my organizing of the spare room is very slow going. My back gives out quickly. Your outing sounded very nice. The thing that freaks me is paying at the table on one of those machines. So far, I haven't had to do it.
QB, I meant to say Siberian irises not German. Glad you clarified that.
Cheryl, we've had pouring rains the past two days and hail, yesterday. It wasn't too big and didn't last long. Still a bit alarming, especially here in the sunroom with a flat roof. Glad Dean has your computer up and running again.
Going...have some leftover country pork ribs and broth from cooking it to turn into pork stew for supper. I didn't add any BBQ sauce while it was cooking in the crockpot so I think it will adapt to that.
Have a good evening...

I'm back !!!
We have unpacked, the washing is on, and will be finished soon, have done my online grocery order (if I bought $150 by tomorrow night I get 10,000 bonus points worth $50)
of course I made it a point to get the $$ they will give out. I needed it anyway.
We met John & Gary when we stopped for coffee on the way home, turned out they would be near to where we wanted to stop and Gary wanted to stop there too, they only waited about 10 mins for us.
The have got to their campsite, it's a "dad & son" camping holiday for 10 days, last time they went south and then inland across part of the desert, this time it's to the warmer north.
SANDRA I do love those funnies you post every day, it must take you some time to get it all typed, THANK YOU. I think it's nice of you to try to teach the game, sometimes it just doesn't get through to some people. Poor lady, and your poor neighbour, sending warm wishes to her ( and to you for all you do )
INDY I forgot to answer your question, I did take knitting with me to the games, but there is nowhere to sew when outside watching, so I sewed on his last day watching, my fingers got sore, I'll post pic of the hexie almost finished, I'll get the last of it done tomorrow I hope.
DEVONNE looking for cars is awful, I really don't envy you, I travelled to the club in Mick & Janette's Mazda CX30, it was comfy and a nice size for me, Mick said it was very economical on the long trip, and did it easily. It's a bit over 500 miles, plus what you drive up there, and then the return of course.
I need to get the washing out of the machine, I want to finish the quilt I started too. Then I can give it to Julie as soon as she gets back.
It's so cold here after being north.
The Mr is currently watching a show on Netflix, the motel had Netflix available and this series came up, I had flagged it on my Netflix, it's dark and mysterious, so I'm sort of glad he found it and started it. I don't think I would like it LOL called Dept Q - I think - Mathew Goode heads the cast. they are a bit hard to understand and I'm good with accents, just the dialogue I think.
CAROL and STRINGS it's good to see you both posting, we miss you all when you are not here ((((hugs)))) PATTY hasn't been on for a while, hope all is well with you PATTY.

Had dinner, and back to post the pic of the =19.5pxhexies. Darn things are only 3/4", and sewing them makes my fingers sore. Not really good with the stitches, but they will do LOL

I'm here Trish, thanks for thinking of me.
Not a lot going on here just enjoying every day. We had a heck of a storm last night. Again tornado warnings. I don't mind storms but I don't like strong winds. We're having heat advisories also.
Today is a big marathon in Duluth. A very big crowd of people there. I'm going to watch some of it on tv today, have never done that before.
My son and his wife are expecting twins, girl and boy, in September.
I enjoy reading what everyone is up to. I'm always lurking here 😁

FROM READER'S DIGEST.......
AN 85-YR-OLD IS PLAYING GOLF WITH THE COURSE PRO WHO OFFERS HIM A 12-STROKE HANDICAP.
"I DON'T NEED A HANDICAP." HE SAYS. "THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS GETTING OUT OF SAND TRAPS."
AS THEY APPROACHED THE 18TH HOLE, THEY'RE EVEN. BUT THEN THE OLD MAN HITS A LONG DRIVE, WHICH LANDS IN A SAND TRAP. FROM THERE, HE KNOCKS IT OUT, AND IT ROLLS RIGHT INTO THE HOLE.
THE PRO IS STUNNED. "I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING OUT OF SAND TRAPS."
"I DO," SAID THE OCTOGENARIAN. "GIVE ME A HAND."
GOSH, ITS LOVELLY OUT. WILL HIT 80 TODAY. EXPECTING 90 TOMORROW. THAT'S TOO HIGH FOR ME.
TRISH......LOVE THE HEXIES. I ENJOYED MAKING THEM BUT PUTTING THEM TOGETHER WAS A BIT MORE DIFFICULT, FOR ME ANYWAY.
WHEN I MENTION I WEAR DRESSES EVERY DAY, I MEAN THE COMFY LOUNGERS THAT ARE KNEE-LENGTH AND WASH N DRY EASILY. I HAVE A FEW SPECIAL DRESSIER OUTFITS FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS WHICH ARE RARE THESE DAYS.
TODAY IS VEGGIE BEEF SOUP DAY. SON SHOPS TOMORROW. I ALREADY HAVE MY PILLS SORTED FOR THE WEEK. YESTERDAY I FINISHED MY JIGSAW PUZZLE SO NEED TO BEGIN A NEW ONE TODAY. I ALSO ADDED A DRAGONFLY TO MY WH. NOW TO FIND BORDERS TO ADD NEXT. I EVEN MANAGED TO POST PICS ON MY BLOG.
NOTHING ELSE HAPPENING HERE. ITS THE WEEKEND. I HAVE BEEN READING EVERY DAY AND PLAYING SOLITAIRE A FEW TIMES A DAY. IT KEEPS ME BUSY.
WISHING YOU ALL A GREAT DAY. ITS THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER, OUR SUMMER SOLSTICE. ENJOY.
HUGS, QB S
Online!
Trish, I believe Dept Q is from a series of books.
Patty, yikes! Twins! Do you live close to them?
Jules graduation party is at 3. I’ve got the peach trifle and the Watergate salad chilling, and the kitchen tidied up.
Cheryl, what’s the title of the Lapena book that was better?
Hot again today! The kids will be in Heather’s pool, the adults will be in the AC!

Twins! Did I ever mention that a unit of mine had 3 sets of twin boys and then a single girl, who unfortunately died soon after birth. The twin sets were about 2 years apart. Combined with the 3 of we were able to field our own baseball team. lol.

Holly, that book was the one you recommended: What Have You Done? by Shari Lapena. I am going to look for another title by her. I am currently reading the story of Cynthia Parker, the woman kidnapped and then adopted by a Sioux tribe. I have read her story before, but this one is good.
Must make a grocery store run as we are out of salad ingredients. Too hot to cook much, so Dean has been eating lettuce wraps with tuna, ham, etc. I still like bread.

No Holly, they live in Massachusetts and we're in Minnesota.😥
We're still under excessive heat watch. I don't like all this heat! 😅
More storms coming. In a town about 20 miles away they had baseball size hail last night.
I did nothing today but sleep and read. Hopefully tomorrow I'll do all the things I wanted to do today.
