ML called me on her way to meet Danny for lunch in Chesterton. Passing the police station, she saw that both Chicago's Channel 7 and 9 NEWS were filming outside???? Howard checked on the computer and there was a police shootout at 8 this morning, one dead and one officer wounded and taken to a Illinois hospital by helicopter. Things like this are happening more and more in our two smaller towns. And the sexual perverts are reported in the newspaper every day!
Devonne, we kept hearing a vibration in the drive train between 25 and 30 MPH. Turns out it was the transmission needing a fluid change which Howard didn't realize was due. It's a 2014 and only has 57,000 miles. We've loved it and I hope this doesn't warrant a change.
He had the oil changed and the back window wiper arm fixed, too. The wiper wasn't touching the window!
I'm impressed that Billy was sentimental about the ring and equated the onyx hearts with himself and the boys. That's a lovely memory for you. Can you get it repaired if you can't find a replacement like it?
Trish, can you ever do hand work while watching bowls? I know for me, when it's suggested that handwork be taken to appts., sports events, etc. it hasn't ever worked. Why? Because when I've tried that, too many people are intrigued and ask me what I'm making, which annoys me, and I'm a friendly person who never meets a stranger--my family's assessment!
I hope all is well with Carol. Seems we haven't heard from her for a bit. I know QB has inquired.
Good to hear from you, Linda.
Janet, I love your philosophical approach to the happenings in your realm. No use getting all wound up over things you know are going to be and can't change, anyway. Hope you start feeling better.
I'd better close this and get busy. We slept too late this morning and I'm behind.

Linda, I have missed you and been thinking about you.
BJ, I hope you are having a nice day! Hugs!
Judy, how funny about spraying the weeds. I have actually done that myself, but it doesn't make them go away; just more uglier, lol.
I found a heart black onyx heart ring. It's close enough to replace the old one. Will be here Friday.
Trish, I would be bored at those games, especially being there that long!
I was headed out to trim my three hedges, but I got a "lightning in your area" alert. My lawn guy was coming yesterday, but we had two rain showers and more lightning. The battery in my Ryobi hedge trimmer is flashing both green and red. Greg brought me his extra hedge trimmer, also a Ryobi, and it's doing the same thing. I will have to use pruner shears. We won't buy this brand again. I have an Ego blower and no problem with that battery.
Janet, what is wrong with you? You haven't felt good in awhile. It's not like you to have no energy.
Sandra, good idea to do those bindings ahead of time!
I spent an hour in my sewing room the other day. I can't figure out how to transfer my designs from the computer to the USB drive. I'm "very close" but not quite there. I will feel like a dummy when it hits me, lol! Trying to figure this out without Greg's help.
I called Auto Nation about a RAV4. There were no interior pictures online. He texted he couldn't find the keys, it's in the body shop. That's not a good sign, lol!

Janet, you’re so wise to offer no opinion on his transactions, that way you can’t be blamed.
I’m playing with videos on the S6, I can’t figure out the needle threader. Much different than my 6500. Waiting for the aha moment.
Judy, I told Ralph about the ROMEO acronym, he loves it. He said we need one for women.
We were going to go to Haircuttery, apparently said 2 hour wait! Yikes! Only thing I can figure is kids getting summer haircuts, since schools are mostly out this week.
Julianna graduated last night! She has a 3 day orientation at Stockton next week, to tour the campus again and sign up for classes.
We went to the post office and library- both closed tomorrow for Juneteenth- and the diner for lunch. They are doing a salad special every week. This week’s is grilled skewered chicken, arugula, mint, feta, grilled cherry tomatoes and watermelon with a balsamic glaze. And a cup of soup. Really good, and I ate less than half, so dinner! Ralph had turkey with stuffing and mashed, and salad. He has enough left for one or two meals! I love our diners!
Trish, bowls sounds incredibly boring to spectate! But I’m the least sports person.

Of all the things I miss is a diner, you would think that with all the NYers, etc living down here, there would be diners. But if you want a burger and a beer there are tons of places. There are only 2 restaurants (not Mexican) that are good, not great around here. I’ve heard there are some good ones about 40-45 mins away….too far.
Judy- I take handwork with me everywhere. That way I can keep my head down and ignore everyone around me at appts. Unlike you, Im not very social and do not engage with people I don’t know or don’t like. 😒

Okay, I'm here. No explanation for where I've been other than extremely busy, many weeks of being sick, and computer woes combined. Some days it's just too hard to get home and then deal with my PC. I'm going to have to replace it, and I'm really dreading that.
I have gone in and read periodically, said prayers, laughed and cried with you.
Thunder just started (again!), so now I'm back off this thing. 18 days in a row with thunder, most with rain.

Afternoon y'all!
Been busy dealing with mom and alphabet soup government stuff for her. OPM, Office of personnel management, to get her benefits from dad's civil service retirement changed to a local account. apparently I had to get notarized statements from everyone and their brother! VA to to get aid and attendance, extra money to pay for her care. 2 separate sets of forms, both have to have 2 witnesses that she signed them. Loads of fun. One is complete the other needs a doctor to fill out his/her part! Even more fun. NOT!
OPM paperwork ready to mail. Have to wait because tomorrow is a federal holiday.
Mom cannot go back to assisted living because some idiot somewhere wrote that she is bedridden!!!! She is not! As a result they cannot take her! So I have to put her in a nursing home which will surely kill her. I don't have any other option. I don't know what else to do! Her current situation is not sustainable. Care alone is over 20 K a month, then the facility fees is another 3 K a month, close to 25 K a month! She will run out of money quickly! She doesn't qualify for Medicare long term care! My parents had no plan for this eventuality! I'm just making it up as I go along, no guidance anywhere! The facility where she was is sending me to someplace south of Atlanta, 1 1/2 hour drive from here. Nope too far! OPM and VA mandate a commutable distance! That is not commutable!
I guess I get to spend lots of time researching skilled nursing facilities. Already contacted a place for mom and told her the no-go places.
Need to go. Got to stop crying and cook supper!

Carol, I've thought of you often. Glad to see you posting. This has been a rainy season and the most lightning I've seen in years.
Theresa, sending hugs! Can your Mom be transferred from Medicare to Medicaid? That's what my niece had to do for my sister or she had to bring her home and be her caregiver. Melena has health issues of her own and not able to do that. She had to hire an attorney to do it, but she was approved and Medicaid pays for what her SS check doesn't pay. They get her entire check, down to the penny. My sister had VA benefits, but none of that is used at all (no clue why?) It makes a big difference on which nursing home you choose. My sister is much happier at this place, but it's more a memory care place, what she needed. Sis gets up at 7:30 am and I think Melena said lights out at 9:30 pm. She goes to the cafeteria to eat breakfast, not in her room. She gets PT every day and they do activities with the patients. Shelby was being evaluated when Melena arrived last week. I don't know what these 5 people determined about her condition. One good thing about this place is she constantly had UTI's at the last nursing home..not a single one at this place.

Theresa- so sorry for all you and your mom have gone through….if I had a magic wand I would surely pass it to you. 🥰

Good Morning to everyone!! It's a beautiful day, just a slight breeze. The sun is shining brightly. I don't have any plans for the day. Sharon is coming this afternoon to clean a bit. We're not messy people, but the floors need to be vacuumed. Frank needs to have his post-op this afternoon.
Well, I really don't have anything else to say, so will sign off. Hope everyone is having a good day, Love, BJ.

Janet, I'm only guessing but I think Midwesterners might have a tendancy to be more chatty and nosy than Easterners. ML, like you, does not engage people she doesn't know, nor look at them. Actually neither do I, but just let me do any kind of handwork and the inevitable "what are you making?" is said. Then there's the other question, "what do you plan to do with that?" Often, I DON'T KNOW! yet. Grr...
Thanks, Carol. Just missing you. Sorry about your computer. They can be pains...
Theresa, this is such a sad and endless situation. Why can't they correct the error? I mean she ISN'T bedridden, so change that so you can carry on in the right category? Red tape is surely the nemesis of too many situations. Hugs and
I had a lovely surprise this morning... An old friend who lives in Florida but still has family in Indiana and Mich. stopped by and spent 45 mins. or so with me. We have a long and unusual friendship. Trips to Williamsburg and San Antonio and many other local memories. Howard was in the bathroom and I was awake but still in bed and someone started frantically ringing our doorbell. That would be Carole who "just couldn't drive right by (on her way to her son's ) and not stop." I quickly put on my muu muu and ran a brush through my hair and tried to look lively. We promised each other we'd call and keep up better. So that has made my day.
QB, beautiful. Irises are faves of mine. My German irises just finished blooming. I actually love the big blowsy ones and the Germans are minis but still beautiful. Are you watching the PBS shows about dinosaurs? I thought of you when we watched the first one.
Holly, glad Ralph got a kick out of ROMEOs. Someone was clever.
Maybe HE could come up with a name for women? Your salad sounded delicious. Very unusual. I love balsamic dressing...
It's a lovely, sunny, cool June day. Fans are going but no A/C at the moment. And I'll close with that.

Wife: If I died overseas, say Jerusalem, and it cost $30,000 to ship me back home for a funeral, and only $500 to bury me in Jerusalem, what would you do?
Husband: I would pay the $30,000 to ship you back home.
Wife: You would pay $30,000 over $500?
Husband: Well, a couple thousand years ago, a man died here and he rose from the dead. I just can't take that chance...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just had two cucumbers from my mini garden. They don't taste anything like store bought cukes....so good! I also had 3 tiny round orange tomatoes. So juicy, they just melt in your mouth.
I am back looking at the Honda CR-V hybrid (again) and the older RAV4. Greg says I should just buy a brand new Hyundai Tucson for the same price I'll pay for a 5 year old RAV4. My problem is I want leather seats and that costs more money because you have to get a better trim package to get them. It's more difficult when you have your opinion and the opinion of your two sons, which is drastically different, lol.
Sandra, that is a great way to hang your mini wallhangings on the door.

=19.5pxWe are at the motel on the way home, my gosh it’s cold, the room is nice & warm now, lovely heating.
Just had a quick dinner, really looking forward to being home tomorrow, the Mr did the driving today, not too long, only 4 hours total with stops for coffee and lunch.
SANDRA wow! Love those hangings, I agree that would be perfect in the corner, so cute 😀 hope you get your whole list, anything special you need - watermelon maybe?
THERESA my heart just aches for all you are going through, so terribly sad that she has to have bed ridden on her files and they won’t change ((((hugs))))
DEVONNE I have leather seats the Mr doesn’t, actually I find no difference, the leather can get hot in summer. Both are comfy.
JANET hope you are feeling better (((hugs))))
HOLLY how is the new machine, looking forward to getting some sewing done when I get home 😀
INDY you would laugh, I quickly ducked out this morning in PJs to put the trash in the garbage room, only a tiny distance, I looked outside the appt door and all clear so I bolted 😀😀 AND I hasn’t done my hair 😀
We started out earlier than I wanted today but the Mr just gets anxious. He’s still chuffed with his performance away, also that he appeared onTV in the crowd a few times while watching teams yesterday. All told he’s had a great time
I got most of my hexies done, my fingers got too sore to finish, sewing 3/4” hexies is hard on your thumbs 😀
See you tomorrow

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES......
1. KILLER SENTENCED TO DIE FOR SECOND TIME IN 10 YEARS.
2. COMMUTER TAX ON NEW YORKERS KILLED IN NEW JERSEY.
LOVELY DAY HERE TODAY. EXPECTING MOSTLY SUNSHINE AND 70S TO 80S FOR A WEEK. LUV IT.
DEVONNE.......CUTE JOKE. THANKS FOR SHARING.
SORRY YOU ARE HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME FINDING ANOTHER CAR. AS ONE AGES ONE NEEDS ONE WHERE YOU CAN EASILY GET IN AND OUT. ITS A PRIORITY, I THINK.
JUDY......OUR SIBERIAN IRISES, WHICH ARE THE DEEP PURPLE ONES, ONLY LAST A FEW WEEKS AND ARE DONE HERE. THEY WERE LOVELY THO. WE ALSO HAD YELLOW ONES AND WHITE ONES WHICH ARE NOW DYING OFF.
OH, THE DINOSAURS. YES, I WAS WATCHING THOSE SHOWS BUT THE DIGGERS FIND BONES FOR DIFFERENT ONES AND TELL A STORY USUALLY WITH TOO MUCH HARDSHIP OR DANGERS AND EVEN THOUGH THE CREATURES HAVE BEEN GONE FOR EONS, I FEEL SO BADLY WHEN THAT HAPPENS. NOT MY FAVORITE SERIES ON DINOSAURS, THAT'S FOR SURE. I HAVE BEEN FAST-FORWARDING THRU A LOT OF IT BUT LOVE SEEING THE RENDITIONS OF THE BEASTS THO NOT AS GOOD AS SOME. THE ORIGINAL MOVIE OF THE SAME NAME, WALKING WITH DINOSAURS, IS MUCH BETTER.
TRISH......AT LEAST YOU WERE ABLE TO ENJOY MUCH ON YOUR TRIP AND YOUR VIEW WAS WONDERFUL. STILL, ITS ALWAYS FEELS SO GOOD TO GET HOME.
LINDA.......HOW ARE YOU FEELING TODAY AFTER ALL THAT REARRANGING IN YOUR KITCHEN. YOU DID A LOT OF WORK AND YOU DESERVE SOME DOWNTIME. HUGS.
I MADE THE CHICKEN N STUFFING CASSEROLE BUT ONLY THE SMALLER PORTION IN A 9 BY 9 PAN. I WAS ABLE TO SHARE WITH 2 OTHERS WHICH IS GOOD. I PREFER NOODLES, PASTA, OR POTATOES OVER STUFFING MIX BUT ITS A NICE CHANGE.
TODAY I WILL BE DOING A BIT OF HOUSECLEANING AND MY LAUNDRY. NOT THAT I NEED THE CLOTHES SINCE ITS GETTING WARMER AND I'M NOW INTO SHORTS AND TOPS INSTEAD OF MY DRESSES. I JUST WANT TO GET THINGS WASHED AND DONE WITH.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S

I must be the only woman here that doesn't have a dress in her closet, lol!
Gary sold their Toyota Tacoma so Emily could go part time. He's not indecisive like me, lol! They will get an older vehicle and not have $700 a month payments.
I'm headed over to visit Gary and the kids. Surprising them with Chick-fila.
Online!
Nope, Devonne, I have not owned a dress in probably 30 years!
A little cooler today. I woke up at 3:30, laid there for an hour, then came out here and was on the iPad til 7, then back to bed til 9. We went to Aldi, then stopped at chick filet to get lunch. Ralph had his Viet Nam Vet hat on, and they gave him a $5 discount!
I got the stuff to make a trifle that I’ve been mentally constructing for Jul’s party, and also the stuff to make Watergate Salad, or as we call it, green gunk.
The turkey dinner that Ralph got at the diner- he got 3 full meals out of it! Not bad for $16!

Devonne, there are a few dresses in my closet but I can’t remember that last time I wore one.
I am still on a sorting/purging/reorganizing binge, working on it between my regular daily routines so it is going very slow. I get sidetracked much too easily. Sandra, you had suggested I keep small pieces of fabric but I am not creative like you. I do mostly pieced quilts and only do appliqué using patterns that have somewhat large pieces.
I had a nice day out with friends yesterday. We went to a tea room for lunch. It was decorated so nicely, the food was great, and the general atmosphere was relaxing. But a couple of things surprised me. You had to order at the counter like in a fast food place and although the food was served on real dishes, drinks were served in plastic cups! The dining area is quite large and they were not crowded so we sat and visited for over three hours.
