We had a lentil curry dish with quinoa last night. Not a favorite of mine but it was DHs bday so he got to pick.
Tonight is pasta. Then leftover lentil dish and then finally turkey meatloaf with mashed and green peas, one of my favorites…finally…or maybe halibut.
He always say “make whatever you want”. And then when I do that, he inevitably says “why did you make that?” Almost 53 years and the conversation hasn’t changed. Ha. Difference now? I don’t really care what he says.
As I’ve said before, “ who knew when I said I do, 50+years ago, it meant I would do everything.”?
Can you tell, I’m having one of those days?
Back later

Afternoon y'all!
Was raining this morning. Was drizzling when I started my walk, no rain on the radar. Halfway through it started to pour, I did have my rain-jacket! Figured my shoes were already wet along with me, I would just finish it in the rain, I did finish as the rain stopped!
DS hubby took almost a year to pick out a used truck! He would waffle until the one he wanted was gone! Do your due diligence, don't let the boys force you into a decision!
Janet right now every day is one of those days! I get it!
Things are starting to line up, hopefully my ducks contain themselves and don't go off on a tangent, once all the ducks are lined up, I can move mom to her, hopefully, permanent spot!
I so want to scream at the VA paperwork! It's ridiculous that to log in a need a super secret code that they gave me 2 years ago, at that time it was a list of codes! 2 factor authentication, I should be able to pick my second factor!
Mom is doing good. They are getting her out of bed and she has been a much happier camper! Don't know who decided she was bed bound?!? I didn't even know until recently that that was in her files. The nursing assistants that care for mom, could not understand why she had a wheelchair but was bed bound, and why when I asked for the shower chair and wheelchair that I got such weird looks! All makes sense now!
New water heater was installed today! The guy said there was very little rust in the tank, in 19+ years we have never drained it! He said we have very good water. I guess when the water plant is almost in your back yard, the water quality is good!
Got mom's laundry, when I went to visit her today, and it's getting done! She fell asleep during my visit. They had her outside for hours and she did not want to go back inside! Guess it felt really good to her! But it did wear her out. A really good day for her!
Like I have said I want quality of life for her not quantity, if I get both it's a win!
Not much else, need to go play with the VA stuff again!
Later my Friends!

Holly, we liked the new recipe. It's on the Eating on a Dime blog and called Crockpot Sausage and Potatoes. I followed it exactly except for no garlic (since Kielbasa has garlic) and only 1/2 tsp of salt. So many things are too salty for us.
Howard has gone to a Dr. appt. His cold went down in his chest and with COPD, the coughing is unbearable. I always go because he always drives me but doesn't go in unless I want him to, but I started with the same cold this morning and am not feeling well enough to go anywhere. He's bringing Chick-fil-A home for supper.
Here he is...

Judy, it was you I needed to thank for suggesting the plant ID. I got an app that was free. Thanks! I was also going to ask how the recipe turned out. It sounds like something I would like.
Holly, think I forgot to say congratulations to your nephew. Most couples live together now, so what's the big rush, lol.
Theresa, is this permanent living place where your Mom was before?
Marilynn called me last night. She said to tell all of you hello. Her doctors said they got all the cancer (brain and lungs). She had chemo therapy along with radiation. She lived in St. Louis for a year at an assisted living place. She did lose her hair, but said it came back good. She has some memory loss now and gets forgetful. Mickey is doing well and had a lump removed from his skin this week. She said a friend took him for her. He has been a blessing to her. She's on 3 different pills a day and here I am complaining about the one I take.. Maybe we could all send her a thinking of you card.

HOLLY I forgot to congratulate the couple for their engagement, DEVONNE is right I guess, so many spend some years together now before they marry, all my brothers girls had a few children before they finally married.
DEVONNE thanks for the info on Marilynn, good to hear she is doing well, I agree on the car, BUT have you considered a smaller car, I love my Hyundai, it's quite roomy, and as it's just you and your dogs mostly something around that size might suit you. I am looking at the Mazda CX30 for my next car - maybe - or something similar. I love the Mazda inclusions.
I didn't know what plant it was either, it looks pretty though
JANET that curry sounds yum, I am also sick of thinking of things for dinner, it's always appreciated, but I like change too, so sometimes I get cross about choosing LOL
SANDRA that is a great win!!, with the $9 a few weeks ago you are making up for some losses. I would love some of your soup today, it's cold and now dreary, it was sunny this morning when I went out early for my bloodwork.
THERESA maybe no one passed on the notes that mum could be lifted out?? Who knows, just so aggravating, I am glad she had a happy time, totally agree with you it's the quality not the quantity now(((( hugs)))) I got a giggle out of your ducks, just when I have mine lined up one of them takes flight!!
INDY ohno, I do hope you both feel better soon, colds are the worst, you feel so miserable and stuffy. Chicken soup, maybe ML can drop some around to you both. The recipe sounds nice, I will look it up and see if I can post it to the recipe thread.
We had a little drama yesterday, Dean is learning to drive, I picked him up from school and the driving school was coming before 2pm. Megan rang in a panic, Dean had been involved in an accident, no one injured, the car has dual controls for the instructor. The instructor (Jo) said it wasn't Dean's fault, but she was worried, I met them after they came home, some stupid woman ran into the side of the passenger door, Jo said he didn't even see her come out of the side street, she must have been trying to speed in front of them ( the car has signs all over plus the roof sign - like a taxi) she was screaming at Jo Dean said, he's filing the insurance claims, my guess is she doesn't have insurance to fix her car, in Aust we have car registration and compulsory 3rd party insurance, payable each year or you can't get the car registered. Your own insurance covers your car and property as well as others if you are at fault.
I'm just so glad they weren't hurt, poor kid, he's nervous driving a manual car as it is, but Jo kept the lesson going after all the details had been exchanged with the other driver, so at least he kept driving for the rest of the hour.
Back to my "tossing" I bought new singlets for the Mr and going through all the older ones to toss them out. I want to toss out his sweaters too, he doesn't wear them, I bought him 2 new zip-up ones, he likes those more.

The site crashed after I posted the recipe suggestion from INDY 😱😱 “ you do not have permission to view this page “ was the message.
Turned everything off and it’s ok again - whew!
HOLLY the recipe might be one similar to one you use?

Trish, it does seem similar to one of the recipes I use. Poor Dean! We have dash cams on the car and truck for that reason.
I made a couple more battings for tablerunners, the fusible batting tape is fantastic. Carol’s memorial service is tomorrow, I’ll give the ones I made out at the luncheon.
Sandra, turkey breast, yum!
I’m reading the book Conclave by Robert Harris. Published in 2016, it’s a fictional account of how the cardinals pick a pope, and how political it is. There’s a movie, but I wanted to read the book first.
85 again today!
Sad night last night, Heather and Ed’s 13 year old Lab, Honey Rose, crossed the rainbow bridge. She’s been steadily failing, but we’re all heartbroken. 💔

Good Morning to everyone!! I love reading the posts that have come in, they are so interesting. This is quite a still day, barely a leaf is moving. Frank is having foot surgery this morning, had to be there at 8:15. Tracy took him in and will stay until it is complete. I'm sure they'll be gone most of the day. Hopefully Rhonda will be over to keep me company.
Well, I have nothing more to say, so will sign off. Have a wonderful day, everyone, BJ.

Trish, I'm sorry that site shanghai-ed you. Here's the recipe I just copied from the Eating on a Dime site since it's one I want to keep:
Crockpot Sausage and Potatoes
16 oz. fully-cooked sausage, sliced into 1" chunks. (I used kielbasa)
2# whole baby potatoes, cut in half. (you can use what you have and peel or not)
2 small yellow onions, cut in chunks (or whatever size dice you like)
1 can petite diced tomatoes, with juice
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 cup chicken broth
Add everything, in order, except, start with the potatoes, then sausage, and so on, into the crockpot.
Cover and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or on High for 3-4 hours (until potatoes and onions are tender.
This isn't a "knock your socks off' recipe. But picky us liked it and it was quick to put together and I will be making it again. Obviously, it can be tweaked with whatever you wish...

Holly, so sorry for the loss of Honey Rose. Every time you mentioned her, I always thought what a pretty name that was. It's so heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet.
As you can see, I went ahead and put that recipe on here since I was copying it for myself anyway.
BJ, I hope, too, that Rhonda can come and be with you, today. I'll bet she does if she isn't working.
Trish, I'm sorry for Dean's accident. So glad no one was hurt. The instructor was smart to make him "get back on the horse" and carry on driving. I'm sure he didn't want to. Growing up and having to deal with grown-up things is hard for both the child, the parents, and the grandparents. I hope the trauma of it all wears off quickly.
Devonne, I'm glad you heard from Marilynn. I still haven't called her and for that I'm ashamed.
No excuse! Those apps are nice and informative, both for birds and plants.
Cheryl, at our small group last week, the hostess admitted that the lovely flowers on her deck we mostly artificial. Who could tell from inside.? Not the rest of us and some of the others also admitted to using them. It's frustrating when you lose real ( and expensive) plants to hungry wildlife.
Speaking of which, did any of you hear about the wild bull elephant that came in and helped himself to various snacks and a sandwich in a small grocery near a National Park in Bankok?
He neither bothered or hurt anyone and left as he came except with a few snacks in his trunk,
"for the road"! (Could have turned out much worse...)
Howard was prescribed a Z-Pak with the usual caveat from the doctor that it won't work on a virus.
He's usually reluctant to give an antibiotic before a week or so. Maybe H.'s COPD factored in?
As for me, I feel much better today. Yesterday, had several syptoms including those chill thrills.
I'll take it as I need to keep working on putting and/or throwing away things from the spare room.
Sending this...Computer is acting up...

I certainly hope that my trash collectors don't start charging by how many bags are in the barrel! I'm getting ready for Lynn and Bill to come for a visit at the end of the month and am planning to have them move my sewing room to the sun room (it isn't exactly a sun room but has lots of windows so that's what we call it). That room was where Bill had his computer, treadmill, recliner, TV and a table for working jigsaw puzzles. In order to combine his desk supplies with mine, which are in what used to be David's bedroom, I have condensed 5 drawers of files down to 2! I think Bill kept every piece of paper his hands touched. There were receipts, credit card statements, utility bills, and many other things that went back about 18 years! Anything older than 10 years with bank info, credit card numbers, or SS numbers got shredded. A lot of newer stuff also got tossed but I kept some. Now I can get rid of a desk and a small file cabinet.
Next up is sorting my fabric. I know I have kept some scraps so small that I won't ever use them so need to pitch them. All of my fabric needs organized better ... and then there are all the other quilting supplies to think about storing. It sounds simple to move from one room to another but it isn't! Also, a friend who used to do longarm quilting gave me 2 large rolls of batting so I had to clean out a closet to have a place to store them.
I wanted to put all the geneology information that Bill had collected all in one spot since it was scattered throughout several places . So that meant clearing out a dresser drawer where Bill had stored some of his paint by number supplies (paints were dried up so they got pitched). I have made one trip to the thrift store and have another load of stuff ready to go. Hopefully, we can get the treadmill and file cabinet there too.

INDY I copied your recipe to the recipe thread as well, I deleted the part I had done, yours is much easier to read LOL Too funny about the flowers, I have often seen them in hotels and not sure if they are real or fake, mostly the fern type one the big hotels use, they put them where they could be real, often hard to tell, I have been known to go and feel LOL
I do hope H is feeling better and you too, our Dr is the same, we rarely get any antibiotics, but he will always give us some to take away when we go o/seas. I see him next Wed, hoping for good news with my kidneys and light chains. They just don't need to get worse LOL
MARYLOU wow!!! quite a clean up you had, I also have lots and lots of small pieces, I just don't want to toss them YET, I am still doing my 3rd Jane plus the Alice quilt, they use very small pieces, and I may have to use them in borders, I KNOW I have way too much and I have plans to donate to an animal shelter after filling a pillow case/s with them - I have to make sure you can still do that.
SANDRA having all the food ready, and your plans is a great idea, I wish I could stick to them when I make them, I will often change my mind! I had chicken & corn chowder from the place I bought all the meat pies, the guys are having the other 2 meals I bought, they have all been vey good so far. I had bad indigestion last night after dinner at the club, wanted something simple tonight - which reminds me I better get some Rennies antacid to take away, sometimes we eat later than I would like when we are up north, then I know I will have problems, usually I'm tired by the time we get home but still too close to eating!
BJ I love that you love reading our posts, I love hearing from you every day too, hope FRANK is feeling OK after his surgery, poor guy, lots of care from you and the girls for him.
HOLLY thanks for the info on the book, I have been wanting to watch Conclave, don't know why I didn't think of a book, I like to read first too. Poor pup, they do worm their way into our hearts, sympathy to them all (((hugs)))
We spent quite a long time today trying to get the Bowls championships on tv to watch live. We had the site to use, logged in, still couldn't make it work, of course the Mr wanted to keep trying, we had a message that it was a problem with the server, he kept thinking it was ours, and I kept telling him it would be theirs - he just wouldn't give up, finally found a facebook message that they had trouble and would be using youtube from tomorrow, they had a new livetv site all set up, they never think it through properly, they have to use internet, and they need to allow for many, many people to log in at the same time, they messed this all up a few years ago when they tried to livestream.
SO I guess my days will be filled with hearing bowls games from tomorrow till we leave, thank goodness for 2 days travel when he can't watch!
I did pack up my sewing/cutting all over the dining table, put it away and packed my needlework up to take with me.
The guys also chopped down a small tree this morning, maybe tomorrow I will head to the nursery to pick something to replace it.

Holly, sorry to read about Honey Rose. Sandy was 15 1/2 when I had to put her down in September 2023. I still miss her every day. She was the boss here!
Trish, glad Dean wasn't hurt! You are a busy beaver with all your trips. Thanks for posting the recipe on the food thread.
I bought a beautiful ring from Amazon, but it's too small and I need to return it. It came in a plastic bag, which I can't find anywhere. I just got it last night at 9:00! How can something disappear so quickly? I'm headed out to check the trash can!

A long day! We left here at 9:30, met our friend Franny at 10, and she drove the 30 miles to the church. Mass was 11 to 12, then to a VFW for the luncheon and visiting. Everyone loved the table runners and the sentiment behind them. We left there about 3:30, got home at 5, and it started pouring shortly after.
Thanks for the kind words about Honey Rose! That’s the name you get when you let a 4 year old Jules name the pup! It sucks that dogs and cats have such short lifespans.

Holly, sympathy to the family on the loss of Honey Rose. It is always heart-breaking to lose a fur baby.
Dean is doing much better with the poison ivy rash, but it is till quite heavy in his "hot spots" near his upper legs and under his arms. But, at least it is smaller in size now and does not itch.
Trish, sorry Dean was involved in an accident. I totally understand his hesitation to drive as Gabriel still shows no interest in it. His dad and Papa mention it to him all the time and he just shrugs it off. They tell him now is the best time to learn while the weather is warm and no snow on the ground.
BJ, I am sending good wishes for a speedy recovery for your Frank.
Judy, I did see the news video of that elephant eating the snacks. They said it was not the first time he had done it!
I got my real geraniums planted today out front. I picked a vibrant pink this year instead of the usual red. I still need to get something for the area around my silver maple tree. Dean put pretty decorative blocks around the tree years ago and I usually put some plants in it. It does shave some hostas, but I like a blooming flower too.
It is off and on rain, then very humid and yucky. A slight breeze has blown in and it is much better. I do not do humidity well.
Goodyear is celebrating 100 years of the Blimp this week. We had all three of the blimps in the air at the same time and it was awesome. I remember way back in the 1980's they had 5 blimps in the air at the same time. We still have the pictures. The blimp that lives here in the Akron area is at the Wingfoot State Park, where Dean and I walk several times a week, so we see it often. The other two are housed in California and Florida, but flew home for the celebration. The one housed here was re-covered in a design from the very first blimp, just a gray and black coloring instead of the blue, white and yellow that it usually shows.
