Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

Afternoon y'all!

Trish, NSDB has been a couple times to see mom.  Keeps promising to come to give me a day off!  I'm still waiting!

Janet, the mom saga continues!  Will until either she passes or I can get her settled in one spot!  The searching and researching , waiting on info from the hospice people is excruciatingly slow!

Indy I understand the floor thing.  I still have carpet in the master bathroom, we have been here 25 years!  Once I can get mom settled in one spot, I will push to fix/update the bathroom.  My current shower is so small, I took a yardstick to measure it and could not lay it down, there was not enough room!  Way past due to fix!

Holly congrats on the new machine!  I still have my Janome New Home, don't recall the numbers off hand.  Bought it to learn quilting in '94, still runs like a champ, even after Delta tried to destroy it!

I was asked yesterday, why mom was bed bound, I told them she is not, she has a wheelchair, it's a 2 person effort to get her up and in it!  After I got home I was sent pictures of her in the WC, eating then another, her sitting outside eating ice cream!  She looked so happy to be out of the bed and doing something besides existing!  I am hopeful they can do this more often!  This will be helpful in getting her back to assisted living!

Still waiting for the staging of the sore on her heal!

Simba is definitely settling in here.  It is his house, and his to protect.  I wish he knew how to play with other dogs!  I guess that will be a time thing!

Me, I'm up to my ears in paperwork.  Waiting on affidavits from other people!  It's stressfully slow!

We are being proactive and getting our water heater replaced.  It's way past it's "good by" date ie we have had it so long it could go belly up on us at anytime!  Still running good, but we don't want to be without it!

Kids are still doing great, nothing new in their lives.

Need to go dice potatoes, supper is BBQ pork chops and fried potatoes!  Exciting I know, I need to use up the potatoes, or at least some of them.  I pulled out a bag of the multicolor ones yesterday and had to toss several.  Using the rest of those and a couple of regular potatoes!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

I also had some potatoes that need to be used so I made potato salad. It will be good with my leftover BBQ pork chop.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

Looks like we are all trying to do something with potatoes, Idid mine in the microwave, couldn't be bothered with anything else LOL

CHERYL how is DEAN, is he feeling better, for bites my nan used to put rolled oats in a stocking and as we sat in the bath she would soak the oats and dab on the bites, seems to work, or maybe we just thought it would so it did!! Something about the starchy water??

I  have been doing mostly nothing today, my arm got quite sore this morning, didn't go to training, as I would have had trouble with it, feels a lot better tonight, though a little tender, had nothing from the flu jab, just hoping I don't get any symptoms, I want to see my sis this Friday, last spot left before we go away, and I want to give her some Thai Bhat, it's her birthday gift ( from April ) she knows it's coming. We try to give something we will use, not just 'stuff' - they will be in Thailand in November, so not really urgent.

THERESA I feel for you, it's hard when they don't have staff, do any places have the lift thing that goes above the bed, it's hard in those places to have 2 free staff members, although they try to tell you they have plenty of staff. Seems like when we see his sis they are all in the office chatting!

I still need to finish the baby quilt, it just needs rows done, then I need to sandwich and quilt it, only a small one so shouldn't take long!

It's quite cold here, and will be even colder tomorrow. I need to get to Aldi to pick up the woollen sweater, then take back the bowls measure I bought him today (he bought one at the club, didn't check his messages )
the pick up Dean after school, I wanted to find time to get my nails done, maybe Thursday for that.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

Me and my lawn guy are back on good terms again. He did a good job. He's coming back in two weeks to cut the new sod. We decided not to do it this time. I need to water it again this evening. It's going to be 86 today.

Trish, I do my nails at home. I bought some gel nail polish to try it. I learned the hard way not to put it on thick or it will never dry. I'm ordering a better nail dryer. I hope I can get this gel polish off, lol!

I called my oncologist and asked him to reduce the Tamoxifen from 20mg to 10mg. He wanted to know my side effects. I gave her 5 or 6 and he changed it. Hope it helps with the joint pain and the insomnia.

I'm going to visit Gary and the kids today after I get a late shower. Emily is having problems with her hands. She's going to the doctor tomorrow.

Good Morning to everyone!!  I'm not feeling very bright this morning, but will struggle through!!  It is a gorgeous day here, very still and sunny.  My housecleaner is coming today, will be here in about 20 minutes.  So I will stay out of living room, until she gets it done.  Well, I really don't have a thing to say, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

It’s 80 and sunny! Ralph saw the hearing aid doc this morning and got his hearing aids a computer update.

My youngest nephew Jacob got engaged! He and Molly have been going together for 5 years, and plan to get married in about 5 years. Jake will be 25 next week, I don’t know her birthday but think she’s the same age. She’s a twin.

Chicken croquettes and tater tots and something green will be dinner.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

Holly, Cleveland is about 45 minutes north of me.  I will check out her website for sure.  I don't go to Cleveland very often as I hate cities and traffic.  Does the S6 have a wide space for your quilting? I think it is maybe called the throat?  I think my Janome 6600 has 9 or 10 inches.  It is great for machine quilting.  I don't think I will buy a new machine either as this one runs great and I have no need for another.

Thanks for the book idea.  I will get it from the library as it sounds like my kind of book.

Judy, Dean and I are thinking the same thing about our carpeting: take it out and match our laminate/vinyl flooring.  We do still have carpeting in all of the bedrooms upstairs but tile in the bathrooms.  So downstairs in the living room is the only carpet on this floor.  I was the one who did not want to take it out when we put down the laminate because Amelia was crawling and I wanted the carpeting for her.  She will be 12 in a couple of weeks.

Today was a lovely day.  Dean and I took Bosco for a long walk, then he did his running/jogging while I went to the grocery store.  Amelia wanted to go also and we got animal crackers, sugar cookies, Gold Fish crackers.....  I told her it will last her the entire month for snacks.

We had air fried chicken tenders, baked potato and applesauce for supper.  Now Dean is going to the YMCA  to lift some weights and I am going to watch some TV.

Take care all

Cheryl, I think 9 inches. And it has LED lighting above the throat.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

SANDRA that 2nd one got me, I read it and couldn't figure out the joke, read it again, then heard myself say it - LOL - sometimes the simple ones are the funniest! We had pies for dinner, with some soup too. I went to an outlet today, they had "mis-shaped" pies in boxes of 18 (works out about $1.25 each)  they just aren't quite the right shape or maybe the pastry fell off a bit, they were very good, they also sold single serve meals to be heated in the microwave, got a few of those to try as well. I can leave them for Pete when we go away, they'll still be there when we get home knowing him LOL

CHERYL I heard about the goldfish crackers on West Wing, haven't seen animal crackers here for a long time - ours are just shapes, we used to get chicken drumsticks, not sure if they are still around, I rarely buy those, Amelia scored well.

DEVONNE good to hear you and the lawn guy are OK with each other, maybe he has just taken on too many lawns, they need mowing so often in summer, ours get done at least once a week, sometimes 2 in summer.

HOLLY it will be exciting getting the new machine, I read up on them, it sounds like a great machine, I see Pfaff has sales on too, but I'm not going to update, I'd love a new machine, but mine is perfectly good and is a solid big machine, with a large throat, my only issue is the bobbins are expensive, BUT they have a feature where they fill a little section first, then wind the rest so it beeps at you when it's down to that last section, makes it easy to remember to change bobbins, and they have Pfaff written on the top of them so you can't put them in upside down.

INDY getting new floor coverings is great - when they are done, it's the getting that's the hard bit, I'd love new wooden flooring, the headache of moving all the furniture out to clear the floor is my problem LOL I just don't want to do it. Wishing you luck on this new venture!

It's been icy here today, the A/C has been on all day, the wind is icy and the chill factor is off the scale. I think we got to about 50 tops today, but the wind made it feel like -20, everywhere I went people were so rugged up,  scarves over heads and faces and thick jackets, winter has come on fast for us, we aren't used to it.

I went to Aldi this morning and picked up 2 of the merino sweaters I use as thermals, such a good buy, and they also had mens jackets, picked up one for the Mr, he loved it and then when I went to the outlet this afternoon I passed another  Aldi so got him the other colorway. He's happy, he was having trouble getting pull over jumpers on, these are zip jackets, and very warm.

I am more than 1/2 done on my sock, it's easy using single needles, I still want to try the other way but it can wait.

See you tomorrow, I will check in when I  have thawed after training LOL

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES.......
1.  LAWYERS GIVE POOR FREE LEGAL ADVICE.
2.  ENRAGED COW INJURES FARMER WITH AX.

SUNNY AND BRITE.  WILL HIT LOW 80S TODAY.  ITS JUST LOVELY OUT.

HOLLY........WOW, THAT'S A LONG ENGAGEMENT ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY ARE ALREADY TOGETHER FOR 5 YEARS.
I HAVE THE FITTED PIECE THAT GOES OVER MY SEWING MACHINE'S THROAT.  IT GIVES ME 10 BY 18 INCHES OF FLAT SURFACE.  GREAT FOR QUILTING.

CHERYL.......THAT'S A LOT OF GOODIES FOR AMELIA.
I REMEMBER BUYING ANIMAL CRACKERS.  THEY STILL SELL THEM HERE IN THE SMALL RED BOXES WITH ANIMALS ON THE LABEL.  THEY TASTE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE GENERIC WANNA BE.
FYI......2.12 OZ BOX IS 3.29.  YIKES. ITS OVER $24 A LB.

DEVONNE......ITS GOOD YOU AND YOUR YARD GUY ARE ON THE SAME WAVELENGTH AGAIN.  ITS NICE TO HAVE SOMEONE YOU CAN DEPEND ON.

MY DAY TODAY.......LAPS DOWN THE HALL, START A NEW JIGSAW PUZZLE, VACUUM MY RUGS, BAKE SOME CHICKEN FOR SUPPER.  I WAS GOING TO MAKE A CASSEROLE BUT THEN THOUGHT I HAVE TO MAKE CHICKEN RICE SOUP FOR MY SON THIS WEEKEND SO WILL HAVE THE CHICKEN WITH SOME FROZEN FRIES OR HASHBROWNS LATER.  I WILL THEN HAVE ENOUGH LEFTOVER CHICKEN FOR THE SOUP I MAKE FRIDAY NITE.
OF COURSE ITS BINGO TONITE.  HOPING ONCE AGAIN FOR A WIN OF ANY AMOUNT.  BETTER THAN LOSING.
YESTERDAY I COACHED THE NEWER PLAYER FOR CRIBBAGE.  SO DID THE OTHER 2 GALS SHE WAS PLAYING WITH.  SHE JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO GET IT.  I KNOW IT TAKES LONGER TO LEARN AS WE GET OLDER BUT ITS BEEN WEEKS AND SHE CAN'T SEEM TO COUNT HER CARDS TO 15 AND THEN ADD HER POINTS FOR PAIRS.  ITS TIRING WHEN YOU GO OVER THE SAME THINGS TIME AND TIME AGAIN.  BUT AS LONG AS SHE STILL WANTS TO TRY, I WILL TRY TO HELP HER.  I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE REALIZED IT WOULD BE A LONG HAUL UPHILL WHEN SHE HAD TROUBLE WITH BINGO.  YUP, SHE DIDN'T GET THAT A ROW OF 5 DIBS MEANS SHE HAS WON BINGO.  SHE'S LOST MORE THAN SHE'S WON OVER THE WEEKS BUT I DON'T SIT NEAR HER SO CAN'T HELP.  ANOTHER GAL TRIES TO WATCH THE CARDS FOR HER.  OTHER THAN THAT, SHE IS A GREAT GAL AND WE ALL LIKE HER.

I WISH YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

Trish, I didn't know Aldi sold clothes. There's not one in my little town. We were hoping when the new shopping center came in, we would get a Kroger. However, Publix moved there and everyone was disappointed. They have a 5 year lease on their old store so nothing can go in there yet. Maybe an Aldi will come there one day. It's 2 miles from my house.

Our Jersey Mikes store just opened and I got a coupon in the mail. I'm going there tomorrow to get a Philly Steak sandwich.

My a/c guy just left, a regular maintenance call. They will come back again in December for another checkup. I was worried because he was in the attic almost 30 minutes. Everything is good!

Does anyone know what this plant is? I planted it, but don't remember what it is. I found it growing behind some other bushes.

Here's another beauty I saw peaking out behind a large Ligustrum bush. Is it possible to move it in the Fall without it dying?

Sandra, good luck tonight at bingo!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

Trish, seems we are similar...I couldn't figure out the 2nd one either, at first.  Makes you feel so thick headed!  Glad you could find the clothing staples you needed at Aldi.  We have two or three quite near, but we never go there.  No reason, just not in our shopping cue.

We have all furniture but one bedside table back in our "new" room.  I still have to vacuum the spot for it thoroughly.  The twin bed is set up, satisfactorily.  We still have to get the old double mattress/box spring out of here but Howard has a cold and he needs to recuperate a bit.  I nearly have my office corner set up and am happy with those results.  As for the carpet.  That being a guest room and really never lived in, it's just too good to tear out so it's going to stay.  (I hope!)  When I said that, I was met with no resistance, but we'll see...  We don't have money to burn!!

Cheryl, moving everything is so daunting that I, too, can barely face it.  This mini move has been hard enough.  Then, if we change our bedroom flooring, too... Someone else would have to move the furniture.  Howard is not able to anymore and other than Bill, we don't have anyone else to help.

Devonne, I wish you had my next door neighbor for your lawn.  Remember, he often, (mostly) mows at night in the dark and in the rain!    Glad your guy showed up, though... On the Exuberant Color blog, Wanda mentioned using an app to identify a plant she couldn't identify.
That's all I know so don't know what it is or if it's free like the bird identifier app, Merlin, I use occasionally.  Heard a unknown bird last week and it turned out to be an American Goldfinch.

Better get back to work.  Supper is in the crockpot.  Kielbasa sausage, potatoes, I sm.  can petite diced tomatoes, 1 chopped onion  and a tsp. each of salt, Italian seasoning and chopped garlic which I left out since Howard doesn't much like garlic and the Kielbasa has it ...and I cup chicken broth.  Very easy so we'll see?

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

Devonne, glad your lawn guy finally showed up.  I cannot help on the flower names.  The white bloom looks familiar, but I don't know what it is.
SO......I put some fake flowers in my back yard.  It is some purple lavender stems and they look so real!  The deer eat everything I put back there so fake ones it is.  I like to look out mu kitchen window at the birds and squirrels and all I see is green and brown.  I have tried several pots out back but the skunks dig the bulbs up or dig in the pots for bugs and then the deer and/or groundhogs eat the plants.  They even came pretty close to the house last year and were eating my hostas that are near my back deck and patio.  I am in the process of putting real ones in the front of the house that faces the road.

Judy, I love to watch the little goldfinches.  I have a finch feeder sock up and it is full of niger seeds and they are on it all day, sometimes 3 or 4 at a time.  I have a Carolina Wren in my front yard and he sings all day long.  The trilling is lovely.

I have an Aldi right down the road from me and I do go in occasionally.  I like their breaded chicken patties (their red bag chicken is famous) because they taste like Chic Fila sandwiches.  I also like the selection of cheeses that they offer.  Lots of good ones.  I am not a fan of their fresh veggies, though, and go to Giant Eagle or my local farmers market store for them.

It was hot and humid today, but I am not complaining since it has been so cold.  It is 88 degrees today.  I have not turned on my air yet, but we do have an oscillating fan running.  It was scrambled eggs and toast for supper.

I DID GOOD LAST NITE AT BINGO.  CAME HOME WITH WINNINGS TOTALLING $10.25, THE MOST I'VE EVER WON.  THAT'S A GOOD NIGHT FOR ANYONE.

TODAY IS CRAFT MORNING.  I HAVE TO GET THERE SOON SO WILL MAKE THIS SHORT.
SON SHOPS FOR ME THIS WEEKEND SO CHICKEN RICE SOUP ON THE MENU.  AS FOR TODAY, I HAVE LEFTOVER FRIES FROM LAST NIGHT THAT WILL GO WELL WITH A SANDWICH.  I BAKED THE CHICKEN FOR THE SOUP LAST NITE SO ITS ALL READY.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

Cheryl, I downloaded a plant ID app and it's a Fall Phlox. Thanks for the suggestion!

Greg and Carter are on their flight home from Las Vegas. Haven't heard much about the trip yet. They spent their first night in Henderson to go to a water park.

Today I am treating myself to lunch. Since Jersey Mikes is right next to our new Publix, I'm going there to walk around and up my steps count! If I feel like it, might go to Walmart afterwards. I already have my grocery list made.

I'm not going to be able to get a vehicle for what I thought I could...$22,000! If I spend more on a vehicle, the flooring will have to wait. They are more like $29,000 to $33,000 for used! I'm like Judy, I don't have money to burn. I am so disappointed in the prices of used vehicles. Have even thought about keeping my old Highlander, but it's 18 years old and has 175,000 miles on it...big decision coming up. Greg is frustrated with me and my indecisiveness, as he's taken me to numerous car places and we've been to Car Max 3 or 4 times. I've only driven a Tucson and a Honda CR-V.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 1 ~ SAT JUNE 7

Devonne, don’t let your sons rush you into a decision. It’s a lot of money, so you want to be sure.

I felt generally lousy yesterday, I think it was the heat. We turned the AC on around dinner time, when it got to be 84 in the house! The high today is 85.

Sandra, yes it’s a long engagement, but the Oehrl men mature late. My dad and brothers were in their late 20’s/early30’s when they married, as was my nephew Michael, Jake’s brother.

Ralph’s breakfast with the Veterans was cancelled, they all had Dr appointments. So we went to First Watch for breakfast, then Aldi, then the library.

Dinner will be leftover chicken and noodle casserole. Judy, how did your new recipe turn out?
