Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

FROM "LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES".....
AT MY 50TH HIGH SCHOOL REUNION, I SIDLED UP TO SOME OLD FRIENDS, STRUCK A POSE AND DECLARED, "I DON'T MEAN TO BRAG OR MAKE ANYONE FEEL BAD, BUT I CAN STILL WEAR THE SAME EARRINGS I WORE IN HIGH SCHOOL."

ANOTHER SUNNY DAY HERE AND IN THE 60S TODAY  NICE DAY.
MY DAU IS COMING OVER TODAY FOR MY MOTHER'S DAY VISIT.  IT WILL BE NICE TO SEE HER.  I DON'T KNOW WHICH GRANDDAUS WILL JOIN HER.
I HAVE COFFEE MORNING IN A FEW MINUTES AND THEN CRIBBAGE IN THE AFTERNOON BUT WILL CUT THE CARD GAME SHORT FOR FAMILY VISIT.

JUDY.......GOOD TO HEAR ML IS DOING BETTER AND YOU HAD A NICE TIME WITH FAMILY OVER THE WEEKEND.

THERESA......SOUNDS LIKE MOM IS DOING BETTER IF SHE ENJOYED HER COFFEE AND LEMON DONUTS SO MUCH.
MIL IS HEALING WELL FROM THE SOUND OF THINGS.  ALL GOOD NEWS FROM YOUR END.

I NEVER COOKED LAST NITE.  WILL DO SO TONITE I THINK.  LATELY I JUST DON'T FEEL LIKE COOKING MUCH. MAYBE ITS THE CHANGE OF SEASONS.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is a very gray day here, just the tiniest of breezes.  Even that has stopped now.  So very still outside.  Well, I have my coffee, very tasty!!  But I'm out of breakfast balls, so I'll be very hungry.  Sharon will be here at 9, so maybe she'll make some for me!!  Sure hope so.
Well, I can't think of a single thing to say, so will sign off, wishing you all a wonderful day, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Afternoon y'all!

Mom is doing great.  Got a call at 6:41 last night to tell me her Medicare days in rehab ends on the 17th!  Really they waited until after hours to tell me this!  I took a night off and went to the Braves game, I was at the stadium when I got the call.

Today I am scrambling to get her out of there by the 17th!  Trying to convince her assisted living to take her back if not I have a weird back-up which is Senior living, with Hospice, and some service they have if hospice doesn't show.  Will probably cost an arm and a leg, but this travel is killing me!

I don't think I will win my argument!  But I have to try!

Yup not accepting my argument, just got the text!

Need to go and Get stuff done here so I can spend tomorrow, getting stuff done for mom, and not worry about house stuff!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Theresa, good luck with finding a place for your mom.  How stressful this must be for you.  I totally get Sara's fear of her instrument breaking and not being able to repair it.  My son, Anthony, runs a research lab at Ohio State and one of his research grants was cancelled because it had the letters DEI in it!!  Had nothing to do with diversity, but it was cancelled. Politics!

Judy, good news for ML.  Hope it all works out for her.

Nothing much going on here; made a chicken and mozzarella baked dish for supper.  We tried the pasta made form chickpeas to go with it.  They are edible, but not my favorite.

Rainy and humid today so I did not get my walk in and I did not want to go to the YMCA.  I do not like walking in that loop for 2 miles (it is only a 1/10 mile track, so it takes 20 times around.  Boring.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Sandra, I'm glad Colleen could make it for a visit. Melena went to the nursing home on Mother's Day and there was no place to park. I told her it's like church attendance at Easter, lol. She left and went Monday.

With my A1C up to 6.1, I was expecting a message from my doctor, which came yesterday. It's still in the prediabetes stage, but she wants me to get it down to 5.4 by cutting out bread, pasta and pastries. I was already doing that except for the bread. Drink more water too!

My radiation treatments ended on April 24th and two days later, I was hit with extreme fatigue. There is a huge difference in simply being tired and being fatigued. Thank goodness it only lasted a week.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES.....
1.  MRS. RYDELL'S BUST UNVEILED AT NEARBY SCHOOL.
2.  GROVER MAN DRAWS PRISON TERM, FINE FOR SEX ACTS.

TODAY IS SUNNY AND WARM.  THANK GOODNESS FOR A/C.

MY DAU AND GRDAU CAME TO VISIT YESTERDAY FOR A LATE MOTHER'S DAY.  BROUGHT BE SOME GOODIES AND HOMEMADE BROWNIES WITH WALNUTS.  MMMM, SO GOOD.  I SHALL GAIN 10 LBS IF NOT CAREFUL.
I PLAYED 2 GAMES OF CRIBBAGE BEFORE MY COMPANY ARRIVED.  SAD TO SAY I DID NOT WIN EITHER.  BUT IT WAS FUN AND WE CHAT WHILE PLAYING.  ITS GOOD FOR MY SOCIAL LIFE.

THERESA......SORRY FOR THE HUNT FOR A NEW PLACE FOR MOM.  YOU ARE DOING SO MUCH AND HOPEFULLY WILL GET TO THE END OF YOUR WANDERINGS AND CAN GET SOME REST SOON.  HUGS FOR YOU GIRL.

DEVONNE.....I AM GLAD TO HEAR YOU ARE FEELING BETTER AND NOT AS FATIGUED.  MAYBE YOU HAVE TURNED THAT CORNER.

MY PUTER UPDATED OVERNITE AND GAVE ME HEADACHES THIS MORNING.  IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO GET ON HERE.  IT SAID I HAD A SECURITY DRIVER THAT COULD NOT UPDATE SO I NEEDED TO MAKE SOME CHANGES TO MY SECURITY.  WELL I FIDDLED AND TWISTED AND SOMEHOW GOT INTO MY EMAIL AND THIS SITE SO MAYBE I FIXED IT IN MY CONFUSED WANDERINGS.  I HOPE SO.  WHATEVER I DID RIGHT IS A MYSTERY TO ME.

THIS MORNING I HEARD A LOT OF THUMPING AND NOISE FROM THE APT ABOVE ME.  I GUESS BARRY HAS BEEN MOVED OUT.  I SEE HIS CAR IS ALSO GONE FROM THE PARKING LOT.  HE WAS NOT A VERY SOCIABLE PERSON AND SNUCK SMOKING IN HIS APT. WHICH IS NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE WITHIN 20 FEET OF THIS BLDG.   I HEAR HE FELL AND BROKE HIS NECK.  THIS WAS A COUPLE MONTHS AGO.  NOT FATAL, BUT LOTS OF RECOVERY FOR HIM.  I HAVEN'T HEARD ANY UPDATES ON HIS CONDIDTION.
SO MANY FOLKS COME AND GO HERE.  ITS A HOLDING PEN BEFORE WE HIT THE PARLY GATES.

BINGO TONITE FOR ME.  WISH ME LUCK.  NOW I AM ON THE WAY TO WORKING MY JIGSAW.  NOT MUCH MORE TO GO ON THIS ONE.  I WILL BE HAPPY TO SEE A REALLY FLOWERY ONE NEXT.

HAVE A NICE DAY MY FRIENDS.  ENJOY.  SMILE.  IT SURE HELPS.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Good Morning to everyone!!  I'm not feeling very bright this morning, but will struggle on.  It has been raining here overnight, think it may have stopped now, maybe not!!!  I have no plans for the day, so will just sit around, as usual!!  I really don't have anything to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all really well!!! BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

I don't have much to say either, BJ.  Except, Howard just came home from lunch with the ROMEOs.  Men are so pathetic!  He ordered a BLT on rye.  Whoever heard of that and forgot to tell them to hold the mayo which he hates.  He still had a good time and of all things, as he was leaving, ran into Dave who was there with another friend.  These men and their social lives...

So, I spent my time alone and  watched 1000 LB Sisters  and  read my book.  It's called Atomic City Girls by Janet Beard--a novel about Oak Ridge and the city that sprang up almost overnight in WW 2.  Good read.

Theresa, thinking of you as you figure out where your mom can live.  Hopefully much closer to you.  Good thing Todd works from home most of the time (I think) and can keep an eye on Simba while you're having to be gone.  Keep on keeping on...

QB, glad you had a good visit and some yummy gifts from your girls.  Is cribbage a game of mostly skill or luck?  Thanks again for the laughs everyday.
Indy

Good Morning, it is a fairly decent day outside this morning.  No breeze, and no sun.  The trees and flowers are quite pretty this morning.  I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will sign off.  Wishing you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

I watered tomato and watermelon plants this morning. I have some blooms on my single strawberry plant. I've never had luck with strawberries so just bought one plant.

Today will be 86, 89 tomorrow. Hot 'Lanta is right around the corner! I had my first fly in the house yesterday. Summer has arrived!

Sandra, that is so sad about Barry. Maybe he wasn't very sociable because he was in pain all the time? I hope he didn't pass away. It does seem a lot of old folks come and go there.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

FROM "LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES"......
DUCK DECOYS, FISHING RODS, BOOTS... OUTDOOR GEAR OF ALL KINDS WAS PILED HIGH IN THE GARAGE.  AND MY WIFE WASN'T THRILLED.  "I HOPE I DIE FIRST SO I DON'T HAVE TO GET RID OF ALL THIS," SHE SAID, SIGHING.
"LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE," I SAID.  "IF I GO FIRST, YOU CAN PUT AN AD IN THE PAPER.  WHEN ALL THE MEN COME BY TO CHECK OUT THE STUFF, YOU CAN PICK OUT A REPLACEMENT FOR ME."
"NAH," SHE SAID.  "HE WOULDN'T BE MY TYPE."

A SUNNY AND LOVELY DAY.

IT WAS CRAFT MORNING AND MY TURN FOR SHOW N TELL.  I BROUGHT MOSTLY SMALL THINGS LIKE WALLHANGINGS AND MINI-QUILTS SINCE I'VE GIVEN ALL MY BIG QUILTS AWAY.  THE ONLY NICE SNUGGLER I KEPT WAS A 4 PATCH POSEY DESIGN SO I SHOWED THAT ONE.  ALSO SOME REPLIQUES, MINIS, HEXAGON STARS, STAINED GLASS, AND A FEATHERED STAR.  THEY LIKED WHAT I MADE SO THAT'S A GOOD THING.
I ALSO STARTED A NEW JIGSAW PUZZLE THIS MORNING.
WHILE TOGETHER, ONE OF THE GALS HAD A DELIVERY OF FOOD ARRIVE AT HER DOOR AND SHE GOT SOMEONE ELSE'S ORDER ALONG WITH HERS.  SHE PHONED TO LET THEM KNOW AND AFTER BEING BOUNCED FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER SHE WAS TOLD TO KEEP IT, GIVE IT AWAY OR TOSS IT.  THEY WOULD NOT WANT IT BACK.  SO SHE SHARED.  I GOT A PACKAGE OF COOKED HAM WHICH I LIKE FOR SANDWICHES.  THERE WERE ABOUT 12 OR 14 ITEMS IN THE ORDER AND SOME THINGS WERE LEFT ON THE 'FREE' TABLE FOR OTHERS TO ENJOY.
MY NEIGHBOR TOM BROUGHT ME A PACKAGE OF CHEDDAR RICE CAKES TODAY.  HOW SWEET.  I TOLD HIM ITS MAC N CHEESE NITE SO TO SAVE SOME SPACE FOR HIS SHARE.  SO ALL IN ALL ITS BEEN A GOOD DAY SO FAR.

DEVONNE......BARRY, THE FORMER RESIDENT, COULD BE VERY SNIPPY MOST OF THE TIME.  I DOUBT HE WANTED TO MAKE FRIENDS BECAUSE WE TRIED, BUT HE DIDN'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH US.  I KNOW HE WILL HAVE A LONG TIME TO RECUPE.  IT MUST BE TERRIBLE FOR HIM UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING MUCH YET.  WHEN HE'S THRU WITH REHAB HE'LL ALWAYS NEED ASSISTED LIVING IN FUTURE.

NOT MUCH ELSE HAPPENING.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Quiet board today! We went to Aldi today, needed a bunch of things. Couldn’t get them all there, but that’s ok. When Ralph had breakfast with the Vets, I had him bring me yogurt and fruit, a huge amount of fresh fruit.

I think I mentioned that my friend Carol died suddenly. Her memorial service is in early June. She was the founder of our cookie swap group, when we worked for Artcraft Concepts. There are 8 of us, including me. So I decided to make each of us a tablerunner. They will all have the same backing, a fabric I found with cookies and baking utensils on it. The fronts will all be different. I’m doing the fronts, then I’ll sandwich and quilt them all at once.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Holly, sorry on the passing of your friend.  The table runners sound really cute; what a nice idea.

Yesterday was Kelli's birthday.  She would have been 63, so so young to die so suddenly. She will be gone 6 years this summer already.

Dean and I are doing the low carb "thing" for a while.  My doc wants me under 50 carbs a day.  Dean says he feels better (less stiff in the joints) when he avoids most carbs.   For me, this is awfully hard.  I love white bread, flour, biscuits, especially sugar, you name it.   We are not counting carbs, just trying to avoid sugars and white flour.

I have decided to go to Paducah when we visit Kentucky.  Dean says sure!  lol.  Another 2.5 hours to get there, but who is counting?  I do not need any fabric, but I know I will find something that calls my name.   We are going the second week of June.

Nothing else to report, just saying hello to you all.

Good Morning, it is 52* outside and very still.  It obviously rained overnight.  Everything is wet outside.   Not a leaf is moving!!  My mind isn't working very well today, so I guess I'd better sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

FROM 'LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES".......
FOR MY BIRTHDAY, MY HUSBAND BOUGHT ME A TANDEM SKYDIVING EXPERIENCE.  WANTING TO BE ON THE FIELD TO TAKE PICTURES WHEN I LANDED, HE ASKED OUR GUIDE HOW LONG THE JUMP WOULD TAKE.
'DEPENDS,' SAID THE GUIDE.  'IF THE PARACHUTE OPENS, ABOUT 6 MINUTES.  IF IT DOESN'T, ONLY TWO."

ITS STARTING OFF SUNNY BUT I KNOW RAIN IS COMING THIS WEEKEND.

JUDY.......YOUR QUESTION ABOUT CRIBBAGE......ITS A COMBINATION OF SKILL AND LUCK.  MOSTLY LUCK I THINK SINCE THE CARDS ONE IS DEALT CAN BE MANY POINTS.  THE SKILL COMES IN KEEPING THE RIGHT CARDS AND TOSSING AWAY THE ONES THAT WON'T HELP YOUR OPPONENT.  THAT IS HARD TO DETERMINE SOMETIMES.

HOLLY........ITS ALWAYS TOUGH TO LOSE A GOOD FRIEND.  YOU MAKING TABLERUNNERS FOR EVERYONE IS A GOOD IDEA, THOUGH A BIG ONE.  I KNOW THEY WILL ALL BE PLEASED.

CHERYL.......I STILL MISS KELLI, TOO.  SHE LEFT US MUCH TOO YOUNG AND SO SUDDENLY.  SHE IS MISSED.

THE SHOW N TELL WENT WELL AT CRAFT MORNING.  THEN WE CHATTED AND SEWED TOGETHER.  LATER I STARTED ANOTHER JIGSAW PUZZLE, THIS ONE WITH BIRDS IN A FLOWER GARDEN IN SPRING.  COLORFUL AND PRETTY.
I MADE THE MAC N CHEESE FOR SUPPER AND HAD ENOUGH TO SHARE.  ITS JUDY'S RECIPE WITH A COUPLE OF TWEAKS.....MORE BUTTER PATS TO KEEP THE DISH MORE MOIST FOR LEFTOVERS AND DRY MUSTARD IN THE MILK FOR A BIT MORE FLAVOR.  ITS A HIT SO THANK YOU JUDY FOR THAT RECIPE.  ITS EASY AND EVERYONE LIKES IT.
TODAY I HAVE GROUND BEEF DEFROSTED BUT WHAT I WILL MAKE IS ANYONE'S GUESS.  MAYBE JUST HAMBURGERS WHICH ARE A FAVORITE OF MINE ANYTIME.

WISHING YOU ALL A FINE DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Is anyone else watching American Idol? I love John Foster, but I also like Breanna Nix. I believe it may be John Foster. Everyone seems to love him. Jamal has a great voice too! American definitely picked the right 3 for the finale, which is Sunday.

Holly, that's a great idea! So sorry about your friend.

Cheryl, I'm thinking of starting keto next week. I'm doing good on the intermittent fasting, but I need to limit more bad stuff (eliminate, lol) bread, pasta and sugars. Gary bought me some chocolate marshmallow cookies for Mother's Day. One cookie was 37 carbs! I hate half and threw the other half away. We went to Paducah on a quick trip years ago when Greg purchased a vehicle from there. I was able to go to Hancocks, but I wish I had the time to go to the museum.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Wow, Cheryl, you must miss her so much! I miss Sam a lot, too.

We had a monsoon this afternoon! A house was struck by lightning a few towns over, and roads were flooded all over, wires down. More tstorms predicted for tonight.

I made hot sausage and peppers in the crockpot for my hot Italian! New recipe, and I got the sausage yesterday from Aldi. He said it was perfect, the sausage skin wasn’t too thick, the sauce was the right consistency to yag, and the peppers were done perfectly. And it opened his sinuses, LOL. I don’t care for it, I had a bagel. He had two helpings, and he has plenty for tomorrow and to freeze some.

I got two more tablerunner tops done today, so moving right along. My Janome is 20 years old, and still running like a dream, knock wood.

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is raining here and has been for some time.  Kind of a yucky day!!  Tracy and Jamie came last night so we may be going some place today (in the rain)!!  I know Tracy has a class of 80 meeting some time today.  Rhonda and her hubby are camping someplace, not sure where.  They sure picked a terrible day to camp!!

Well, I really don't have anything to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

WE ARE IN FOR A WET WEEKEND.

NOTHING SPECIAL PLANNED.  I WILL PLAY IT BY EAR.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 11 ~ SAT MAY 17

Sandra, I think the rain is moving up the coast towards you! It’s 80 and sunny now, we had showers earlier.

I did 3 more table runner tops, that’s 10 so far. A charm pack makes two of the smaller ones, with squares left over.

Leftover sausage and peppers for Ralph for dinner, I’ll graze.

Devonne, I’ve never watched Idol, Survivor, or Bachelor. I’m more into the drama shows. To each their own.
