Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

I finallyfinished the hat I’ve been crocheting for Boone for the last month! It goes much faster when you actually work on it! It’s stripes of lime, gold and purple, and I call it the Mardi Gras hat. It’ll fit her in the winter. I sent Samantha a picture, and she loves it. I’ll put a pic on the blog tomorrow. That was my big accomplishment for the day.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

QB, wow, your social life with just  a few good ideas  is happily increasing.  I know nothing about cribbage, but when my Mich. cousin's hubbie was housebound with a chronic lung disease, each week he and his son, in Denver, played cribbage with their phones--something he looked forward to, greatly, before he passed.  I always thought that was such a sweet thing.

None of my docs ever mention my weight, either, but I shut my eyes so I don't see what it is and possibly cause my BP to rise. Foolish and immature, I know, but that's me!

Well, the robin's nest is no more.  Whatever found it, didn't just eat the eggs, it totally destroyed the nest.  Funny how something like that is so disturbing.  So we have a plan for next time since this has happened several years now.  We will remove the nest before the bird lays her eggs to "encourage" her to go elsewhere.  The fun of watching the process is not worth the angst of the loss after all her hard work.   For two years, I've been turning my decorative bird houses around so the hole can't be accessed and the birds can't get in and out to make their nests.   These were wrens, my favorite song bird.

Howard had lunch with Dave, today.  The ROMEOs postponed til next week so HE called Dave.

Cheryl, your trip to KY sounds lovely.  It IS so beautiful there.  I hope you do go to Paducah.
I believe that's where the AQS museum is, too.  Horses for Dean and quilts for you, even Steven!

Devonne, what a nice surprise for your SIL.  Nice that you've always stayed close with her.
That's the way it was for me with my 1st husband's sister.  We were always family.  I miss her.

Better go.  Even though he ate out, I still have to get something for supper since, now, he only gets either chicken tenders or 6 shrimp and plus the ice cream Dave always has coupons for.
Sweet Dreams,
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

Decided to go to Walmart and get my prescriptions so I could walk around. I only needed eggs. My prescriptions were $30. The dozen eggs cost me $113, lol!  I had two chocolate donuts in my cart. I had to use my willpower and put them back on the shelf.

I found some 100% cotton nightgowns and got 3 of them. Also chicken, pork chops, frozen goods, etc. It doesn't take long to go over $100.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

BJ you do so well with posting every day, telling bout the weather and family - thank you!

SANDRA I really love that you have all found things to do with each other during the days together, spending that time socialising is so good for you all. I have been sewing, and making those box/baskets, forgot to get a pic, and of the coaster, I will do that tomorrow - I have found a couple series I like on Britbox, will let you know how they turn out, not high hops for one, Magpie and Moonflower Murders, slow to start, I'll hang in there for a bit though.

DEVONNE that's quite an expensive egg trip LOL too often I go in with 3 things to buy and spend $100 on 'other" stuff, mostly needed. we had 2 new women's shops open in our little local mall, both have sales on, might get the kids to get me a voucher for Mothers Day on Sunday. OR I can ask them to pay for my Ancestry DNA kit. I have decided to do it. So nice you are still friendly wth your SIL

STRINGS you do so well with your eye issues, hope you feel better soon. Is the Mr doing OK, know he worries you (((hugs)))

INDY how is ML, hope she is getting some sleep with the meds, she just needs to keep up with them, as also the therapist. Good to hear you still have friends in family too. Sorry about the robins nest, too sad for the poor bird, wonder what got it?

CHERYL definitely go to Paducah, visit the fabric store, it's massive, AND there is a separate room with all the pre-cuts. I also didn't like the way they set out the fabric MARYLOU is right, it's hard to find things, you can walk for miles in that place.  BUT the museum is absolutely amazing. so impressed with that, even my Mr stayed with us to view the quilts, he was gobsmacked!! They are so good, can't image the effort that went onto them. I know they cane it out all the time. It's just near the river, so you can walk down there too.

I had training today, I was a bit stiff and sore form Tuesday, being away for so long it takes a while to get 'unstiff' LOL I will be a bit sore tomorrow, my arms are already feeling it. I was lifting 4kg weights in each hand, I should have stayed with the 3kg LOL  - and I also didn't do the running, the girls are so good, they are fast!!

I made some more boxes this afternoon, picked Dean up from school, got him a McDs Choc Shake and John asked for a Salted Caramel Frappe. The shake was a special deal one, so I was happy, last week I got them lunch, cost me $30 YIKES, they don't have it very often though.

Jut heard from my sis a couple hours ago, Chloe (her DD) had another episode at work passed out for 2 mins tis time, they took her to hospital, it's heart related, and she's about 6 months pregnant, she's OK, baby is moving, and she's under observation, they can't really figure out what it is, and if it can be prevented, so far no answers, it happened a few months back and has happened in the past too, this baby will be it for her, she can't do this again she is too high risk, she already has a heart specialist. they kind of know what happens, but it's intermittent. Keep a good thought for her please. I worry, but I know she is in good hands.
I actually saw Chloe yesterday, took the raincoat up for Bridie, I did think she looked tired, but that was to be expected, she doesn't look pregnant, baby is way back, Bridie was the same, even right before birth she was barely showing.

It's cooler here tonight, was quite hot yesterday, and today has been mixed, warm, cool, windy, slight drizzle - we had all seaons

FROM READER'S DIGEST'S "LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE".....
1.  THE WORLD'S WORST ACTOR IS ON STAGE, PLAYNG HAMLET.  HE IS SO BAD THAT THE AUDIENCE BEGINS TO BOO.  THE ACTOR STOPS, STEPS DOWNSTAGE AND SAYS, "LOOK, FOLKS, I'M JUST AN ACTOR.   I DIDN'T WRITE THIS JUNK."
2.  A GUY WALKS INTO A SHOE STORE.  AFTER TRYING ON A PAIR, HE COMPLAINS, "THEY'RE A BIT TIGHT."
THE CLERK SAYS, "TRY PULLING THE TONGUE OUT."
"NAH, THEYTH STHILL FEELTH A BITH TIGHTTH."

YIPPEEEEE ITS SUNSHINE TODAY.  OH, HOW I MISSED IT.  I FEEL LIKE DANCING.

TRISH.......PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS FOR YOUR NIECE CHLOE AND THE BABY.  SHE IS HAVING A TERRIBLE TIME.  I HOPE THEY ARE ABLE TO HELP HER THRU THIS BIRTH.

DEVONNE......I THOUGHT $8 WAS EXPENSIVE FOR EGGS, BUT YOU TOPPED ME WITH $113.

I'M OFF TO CRAFT MORNING IN A MINUTE.  I WOKE LATE HAVING AWAKENED MUCH TOO EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING FOR THE BUG DOG.  I GUESS I CAUGHT UP WITH MY SLEEP SINCE I DIDN'T WAKE TIL 10 THO I DID WAKE AT 7 FOR MOTHER NATURE.  WENT TO SLEEP AT THE USUAL TIME AROUND 4 AM.  I GUESS I AM A NIGHT PERSON.
I LOST 50 CENTS LAST NITE AT BINGO.  NOT A BAD LOSS AND IT WAS FUN SEEING AND PLAYING.  THE SOCIAL ANGLE IS THE BEST PART AND WE HAVE SOME LAUGHS.

I GUESS ITS GOING TO BE A SIMPLE CHICKEN RICE SOUP POT FOR THIS WEEKEND.  I KNOW MY SON LOVES IT AS DO OTHERS HERE AND ITS NOT DIFFICULT OR TIME CONSUMING.
I MADE A PEPPER STEAK SUB FOR SUPPER LAST NIGHT AND HAVE ENOUGH FOR ANOTHER TODAY.

GOT TO GO.  WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY  HUGS, QB S

Good Morning, I do love reading all the posts, so nice to hear what everyone is doing!!  It is a beautiful day here, the sky is so blue and white.  But it is very still, not a leaf is moving.  It is 51*.

Well, I really don't have anything else to say, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

Did I tell you that David made an unexpected visit last weekend?  He tries to time his trips here to do  things that I can’t do. He brought some plants that he had divided from his yard so I now have two new hostas, several rudbeckia (black eyed Susan), and a Solomon’s tears. He also worked on cleaning up and rearranging some cannas and day lilies. He wanted to use Roundup in the driveway but the weather didn’t cooperate. He mentioned that to the guy next door when he came over to chat a bit. So Dennis said he would do it!  He is a great neighbor, will never take pay for anything he does for me so I occasionally feed him.  Although it was a week early, David took me out for a steak dinner on Sunday as my Mother’s Day treat.

Someone offered me 8 bags of fabric for my quilt friends and I to use for donation quilts. It sounded like a great idea so I gladly accepted. After sorting it, I had about 1/2 bag of cottons suitable for quilts, another 1/2 bag of large pieces of white that might work for backing, 3 bags of double knits to give to my DIL to use for theater costumes, 2 bags of odds and ends to donate to the thrift store, and 2 bags to put in the trash. Next time I am offered fabric, I will ask questions before accepting.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

Good afternoon all!

I hear you all about getting weighed at the dr offfice!  It makes my bp go up also, Judy.  But, it does keep me somewhat on track since I know I have to go every 3 months.  She did ask me if I thought I could give myself a shot in the stomach for the gpl drug, but I declined.  I told her I have been thick thru the middle since I was 15, so I will live with it.  It is not just from pre-diabetes, just heredity.  Look just like my grandma and  mom.  lol.

My cardiac appt was cancelled and reschedule for July 18 since she could make it to the office in time and the next available was in July.  Ok, it is just a well check I guess.

MaryLou, I love my black eyed Susan plants!  They bloom for a long time and reseed themselves.  I started with a few by my porch steps and Dean and I had to thin them out yesterday.  I moved them to another part of the yard.  The Bee Balm has totally taken over my west side of house flower bed, but I will let it go.  Just had a couple of hostas in with it.

I got a new upgraded phone yesterday and what a mess it was getting it set up.  I never want a new one again!  It was my fault since I had a two step verification thru Google.  I could not get my new authorization code since they wanted to send it to my old phone and the Verizon clerk kept my old phone when he gave me my new one.  Finally got onto Goodle thru my ipad and was able to take off the 2 step authorization.  Then my stuff was able to be transferred from the Google Cloud.  Sigh..took hours.  I did not even want a new one, but verizon offered it for free and Dean said to take it.    Don't want to do it again.

It is still rather cool here and dreary, but at least it stopped raining.

Gabriel is 16 now (hard to believe) and we are going to Texas Roadhouse for his birthday dinner.  He still has not gotten his drivers permit   He is in no hurry.

Trish, my oldest will be 45 on May 23, so I totally get it.  Where has the time gone?  How did I get to be almost 70 and Dean is 70?    Time does fly.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

Afternoon y'all!

I could not do Hospice for mom.  I would have to pay for the rehab facility out of pocket if I did that.  Plus paying for her Assisted living apartment.  I can't do that to mom financially!  I'm trying to get her back to her assisted living on hospice.  This is all a lot of work!  If I have to give up her apartment I will have to find someplace closer to me.  It's close to 45 minute drive one way and I try to go every day!  Some days I just can't get there!  Lots to figure out!

Luke still has a job.  That's good!  It's still day to day!

Sara is still working on the thesis, and lab.  Since this is all above my paygrade, I have no clue what the goal is, besides graduating with a PHD!

Alex is doing good!  No change!

Simba has gotten hold of items on my sewing table, brand new and not yet used, and chewed them.  Fortunately nothing sharp.  Sewing room stays closed all day now.  We open it once he gets in his crate, just for ventilation/airflow!  Or if I am in there, right now that is rare!  All bedrooms too!  He got the TV remote and has chewed it.  Why all of a sudden he is doing this, we have no clue!  He took my bolster pillow and removed the cover, I was trying to figure out why the cover was tearing, and why it wasn't where I placed it each day, now I know!  I realize he is still a puppy, even though he is full grown, so it's just time and training!

My MIL had her elbow surgery today.  Everything went well!

Need to go figure supper! Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

I love those black eyed susan flowers. I haven't seen any this year.

Marylou, how nice David sneaked in and surprised you with a visit. I agree with you on the fabric. You didn't get much good fabric out of 8 bags.

Trish, how scary for Chloe. Does she get to be a stay at home mom? Will keep her in my prayers.

Theresa, good luck on getting your Mom situated. Where is she now?

I finally got my tomatoes, zucchini, squash and watermelon planted. I bought a "giant" red bell pepper plant. Anxious to see if it does anything.

I got my A1C results back and it was 6.1, up from 5.9. I hope eating better and doing intermittent fasting will help with this. It's not bad, but it's not good either.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

WITTY AND WISE......
1.  TO THE THIEF WHO STOLE MY GLASSES.  I WILL FIND YOU.  I HAVE CONTACTS.
2.  THEY SAID TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS.....SO I WENT BACK TO BED.

ITS BACK!!!! THE RAIN.  FOR 2 DAYS IT'LL BE GRAY AND WET.  AT LEAST WE HAD A MARVELOUS DAY YESTERDAY.

MARYLOU......HOW NICE THAT DAVID VISITED AND HE GOT TO WORK IN YOUR GARDEN FOR YOU.  THAT'S WHAT I CALL A VERY NICE VISIT.  WE, TOO, HAVE BLACK-EYED SUSANS HERE AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM BLOSSOM.  I ESPECIALLY LOVE THEM WITH THE BIRCH TREES BEHIND THEM.
YIKES, ALL THAT FABRIC AND LITTLE OF ANY GOOD USE.  SORRY ABOUT THAT.

CHERYL......ITS NOT THE WEIGHING-IN THAN GETS MY BP UP, ITS THE GENERAL IDEA OF AN APPT AT ALL.  EVEN AS A KID A SIMPLE  SPELLING TEST WOULD GET ME ULTRA NERVOUS AND I WAS A SPELLING CHAMP IN THE DAY.  ITS JUST THE IDEA OF EXAMS AT ALL THAT GETS ME IN A TIZZIE.

THERESA.......SORRY THAT MUM CAN'T YET GET HOSPICE CARE.  IT MAKES THINGS A BIT TOUGHER FOR YOU.
I AM SURE SIMBA'S CHEWING DOES NOT MAKE THINGS ANY BETTER.  THEY GO THRU THAT STAGE.  BE SURE HE GETS PLENTY OF BONES AND RAWHIDES TO CHEW INSTEAD OF THE GOOD STUFF.

DEVONNE......HOW NICE YOU HAVE YOUR GARDEN IN.  IT'LL BE GREAT HARVESTING FRESH FOODS FOR YOURSELF RIGHT FROM THE GARDEN.  THERE'S NOTHING BETTER.
OUR GARDENERS ARE STILL WAITING ON WARMER WEATHER BEFORE PLANTING THINGS.  THO TONY, MY NEXT DOOR GUY, HAS HIS GARLIC GROWING FROM LAST FALL AND HE'S COMPOSTED HIS SOIL.  HE SAYS NO TOMATOES FOR HIM THIS YEAR.  LAST YEAR HE GOT FEW GOOD ONES AT ALL.

I WORKED MY JIGSAW YESTERDAY AND HOPE TO GET IT DONE SOON.  ITS MOSTLY GREEN PIECES LEFT TO GET IN.  THEN I CAN START A GARDEN PUZZLE.
TODAY I WILL MAKE MY CHICKEN RICE SOUP FOR MY SON WHO SHOPS TOMORROW.  HE'S BRINGING US LUNCH FOR MOTHER'S DAY  ON SUNDAY SO I WILL GET HIM SOME ITALIAN SUBS AND THE SOUP TO TAKE HOME.
I CLEANED MY WINDOWS THIS MORNING.  NO BIG DEAL THO SINCE I ONLY HAVE 4 TOTAL.  ONE OF THE PERKS TO HAVING A VERY SMALL APT IN MY OLD AGE.
AT CRAFT MORNING YESTERDAY I WAS ASKED TO BRING SOME OF MY WORK NEXT WEEK FOR 'SHOW AND TELL' SO WILL GET A FEW PIECES READY FOR THAT.  I WANT TO SHOW DIFFERENT STYLES AND METHODS.
AS FOR MY PROJECTS, I LOVE SNOOPY PHONE MEMES THAT I GET FROM MY NEIGHBORS SO MAYBE I WILL MAKE MYSELF A SNOOPY DOOR HANGING SOON.  I HAVE TO LOOK UP SOME PICTURES ONLINE TO GET AN IDEA.
WISHING YOU ALL A WONDERFUL DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

Afternoon y'all!

DS mom is in Cumming, near Thread Bear Fabric Quilt store.  My favorite local quilt shop!  I have been twice!  LOL!  The facility is called Chestnut Ridge!  Wheels are moving slow to get her what she needs!

QB Sara bought hubby a thing of puzzle trays that let you sort the pieces.  I love the trays.  It has helped with the last couple puzzles!

Nothing new today just had to do stuff for mom online!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

I saw on Facebook one of my sister's best friends passed away back home in Ky. I sent Melena pictures and the obituary. Even though Shelby won't remember later, she will remember who she is. They ran around together all during elementary and high school.

I had lunch with Gary today and he told me Hannah was at home on workers comp. She tripped over something at work and broke her foot. This happened two weeks ago and he just told me today.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

I kept forgetting to show the fabric scrap boxes and coasters, the coasters have a 4” hexie 😁I made 30 of them, all the same hexie, and all kinds of different stash for the boxes and rest of the hexie.

SANDRA hope you get your favourite KFC for Mothers Day, the soup will be lovely too. Enjoy your show & tell 👏👏 you have such a talent, don’t forget your drawings too.

DEVONNE thanks, Chloe still needs to work, she now has a different cardio, he seems more determined to find out what’s wrong, he wanted her to do less hours but she doesn’t want to, he’s agreed BUT another episode and she has to give up work he says.

THERESA sorry things aren’t working out for you, if she can spend the $$ on herself I’d say go for the hospice. But only you can decide that ((( hugs)))

MARYLOU you scored well on the visit and gardening, not so much on the fabric, 😁people who don’t sew have no idea of different fabric. We have a couple sheltered workshops that take all fabrics, they sort and sell it too.

INDY the new pope is from Chicago isn’t he, that was such a quick conclave, must have been a lot of “campaigning” when Francis got sick. Hope you are OK, and not worrying about things too much (((hugs))) any more lunches for H?, enjoy that respite 😁

CHERYL you’re right, we just can’t be that old 😁😁 any decisions on Paducah?

I need to get my sewing cleaned up, been doing more boxes, they are a little fiddly, but fairly quick to make.
We had bolognaise sauce  in the freezer, so dinner is easy tonight.
I bought a frozen Spanokapita from Aldi, but my oven was self cleaning and still not finished when I got home 😱it was so dirty, now it’s clean though, that Pyrolitic clean feature is incredible, takes hours and burns everything to fine white powder, simple wipe over with a damp Chux, love it. Beats the heck out of scrubbing etc, always looks like new when it’s done and it’s 20 yrs old. When I redo the kitchen I will replace it, with same kind of a Miele oven.

Turned cool again, but not too bad, it was nice to have the kitchen heat up with the oven clean 😁😁

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

It’s spring in Jersey! Open windows, close windows, heat ff, heat on, green pollen on every surface. Our local AmericanLegion is having a hoagie sale today, so Ralph went and got a couple for lunch or dinner. They set up on all 4 corners of our town’s only traffic light.

Trish, my friend Barbara, my expert on Catholicism, said Pope Francis appointed a lot of the cardinals, so he would appoint like minded, liberal-ish men.

Good Morning to everyone!!  Lots of news on the board, love reading it!!  !! It is rather gloomy outside this morning, very still.  I'm not very great this morning.  Tracy came last night, so that is very nice to have her here.  Hard to say what we will do today, but we'll come up with something!!

Rhonda has to work today, so we won't see her.  I guess it's time for me to sign off, my brain isn't working very well.  Will check in tomorrow, BJ

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

FROM LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES......
IT WAS WHILE REMODELING MY NEW BLUE JEANS FOR MY HUSBAND THAT I SAW JUST HOW BAGGY THEY WERE ON ME.  "OH, GREAT!" I MUTTERED.  "I BOUGHT THE WRONG SIZE."
MY HUSBAND, WHO HAS A KNACK FOR SEEING THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THINGS, SAID, "DON'T WORRY, SWEETHEART, THEY'LL FIT YOU SOON."

ITS OUR 2ND DAY AGAIN OF RAIN.  THANK GOODNESS I'LL TAKE IT RATHER THAN SCARY TORNADO WARNINGS LIKE THE SOUTH AND MIDWEST.

THERESA.......I HAVE A WOODEN PUZZLE TRAY, A LARGE ONE, WITH 4 LITTLE SIDE DRAWERS FOR THE PIECES.  ITS WONDERFUL.  ITS PROBABLY ABOUT 30 BY 4O INCHES OR MORE SO A SUPER LARGE PUZZLE CAN BE WORKED.  MINE ARE USUALLY 18 BY 24 AS A RULE.
I LOVE THE DRAWERS FOR SORTING COLORS AND PUTTING TOGETHER BITS AND PIECES.   TIP: AFTER GETTING 3 OR MORE PIECES TOGETHER, I USE A GREETING CARD OR ENVELOPE UNDER THE GROUPS OF PIECES TO LIFT THEM FROM DRAWER TO PUZZLE.  IT KEEPS THEM ALL TOGETHER WHILE MOVING THEM SO THEY DO NOT GET MIXED UP.

DEVONNE.......YOUR FAMILY IS NOT GREAT ON SHARING NEWS IT SEEMS.  MAYBE THEY JUST DON'T WANT YOU TO WORRY SINCE THERE'S REALLY NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO EASE THE PROBLEM.

TRISH......I HOPE YOUR NIECE LISTENS TO HER DR AND TAKES IT EASIER SO SHE DOES NOT HAVE ANOTHER SCARY EPISODE.
THANKS FOR SHARING THE PICS.  I USED TO MAKE THE HEXAGON COASTERS FOR DIFFERENT HOLIDAYS WITH SCENES APPROPRIATE TO THE SEASON.  THEY ARE ADORABLE.

MY SON IS OFF SHOPPING RIGHT NOW.  MY LIST IS SHORTER THAN USUAL SINCE I HAVE LOTS OF STUFF IN MY FREEZER AND CAN'T FIT MUCH MORE INTO IT WITHOUT USING UP SOME MEATS AND FROZEN THINGS.  I LIKE A CHEAPER GROCERY BILL.

TODAY I WILL START A NEW GARDEN PUZZLE SINCE THE FIRST GNOME PUZZLE IS FINISHED YESTERDAY.  ITS CUTE.

WISHING YOU ALL A GREAT DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 4 ~ SAT MAY 10

Good Morning to all!!  I'm not doing great this morning!  Have had a really bad spell, but doing better now.  I'm going to sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.
Tracy here, Mom is having seizure like spells that we cannot decipher. Her oxygen drops to 60 and pulse rises. It is very scary to witness. We have called the aid car 2X and last time she was transported to ED and no results determined! She is a mystery.
Her Dr wanted to have a video so I took one, but no matter how much I trim it I cannot upload it to her portal. I am helping my husband after open heart 3x bypass and haven't been able to be here so much. This last one lasted an hour! Holy cow. Stressful. I am seeing a common denominator of happening btwn 9-10 am. Who knows if it's happened more oftenI sure hope not. I helped her breathe and concentrate and held her hands while it was happening.
I wanted you all updated and know there is wisdom out there
