We went to W-M for meds and other. As soon as we were on our way home, it started pouring rain. So bad, that if I was the driver, we would have pulled over a waited it out. Glad we were driving on side roads with no other cars. We did get a free car wash! The rain stopped and instantly it was sunny and blue skies. Strange.
We're having TV issues, too, Holly. We have DISH satellite as do ML and Bill, so I called him this morning and theirs is fine and has been. So, Howard called DISH and a tech is coming out tomorrow morning, between 8 and noon. Fine, except it's our small group day which he forgot and we need to leave here no later than 12:30.
Linda, you're so funny... "be still my heart". All that activity and lunches out IS quite the change from your usual. Enjoy while you can.
QB, so sorry about Michelle...again. Has to be very upsetting. Even though you keep your apt. ship shape, I'm sure there's a bit of stress when the inspection is coming. Now you can relax and do as you please, again.
Wishing you all sweet dreams.

Good evening all.
Judy, I had all of the childhood diseases too. My two brothers and I had the mumps at the same time. Allan was 15 or so at the time, and they really had to watch over him for fever as it could damage his prospects of being a father later in life. Mom actually had our chins tied up to help hold the mumps. My kids had the baby shots, but Anthony still got the chicken pox. Aaron never did. With the new recommended shots, my grandkids did not get any of those diseases. I don't understand why the newer generation is so against the childhood vaccinations; my hair stylist refuses to get any for her son and signed a waiver at the school stating it was "against her religion" which is the only way in Ohio to register a child for school without the required immunizations. She says they cause autism. Perhaps...I don't know that answer.
Sandra, so sorry about your friend. Good luck on the inspection as I know it can be nerve-racking.
Judy, we are having the same type of weather pattern here. Rain, sun, rain, wind then sun again. Lots of thunder today and a few quick downpours.
I made sauerkraut, pork ribs and mashed potatoes for supper and it was a welcome change. I am so tired of the same foods I fix daily. Somebody should get some new ideas.

Cheryl, years ago there was a British study linking vaccines and autism. It was debunked, and the researcher eventually admitting to falsifying the results, but some people keep quoting it. People who are anti vax are either uneducated or just stupid, and/or never saw a kid die from measles. It’s so tragic that people who most likely had the vaccines are denying their children the same care. Jersey also has the same law, and you used to have to provide a letter from a legitimate church leader of a recognized church, but sadly it was relaxed years ago and now the parent can claim philosophical reasons. The board of health reserved the right to exclude unvaccinated kids in the event of an outbreak, but right now that probably doesn’t get followed thru on. It’s sad. I had a DNA relative die at 6 from diphtheria in the early 1900’s. I’m sure you’ve read that if a family had ten kids, they were lucky to get 4 to adulthood. I don’t know how the parents survived that kind of grief.
your dinner sounds great!

I don’t understand anti-vaxers either. Not only are they endangering their children but others. I have a niece with a rare auto-immune disease who was advised by her doctors to not take the Covid vaccine when it first came out. That meant she had to be even more careful about possibly being exposed than the rest of us; in other words, she was confined to home. After some time passed, she was allowed to get the vaccine but still needs to be cautious about exposures. I also have a friend who has had a kidney transplant. Although she has had all possible vaccines, she also takes drugs to help avoid rejection so her immune system is weak. She has been strongly advised to avoid being in the same room as anyone who has not received vaccines. This means she cannot even attend Bible study classes at the church she has been a member of all of her life.

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK FROM READER'S DIGEST.......
FOR 35 YEARS, MY FRIEND FRANK PUT IN LONG HOURS AS A TEACHER AND SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR. SO AFTER HE RETIRED, I WAS CURIOUS ABOUT THE WAY HIS LIFE HAD CHANGED. A MAN OF FEW WORDS, FRANK REPLIED, "EVERY MORNING I GET UP WITH NOTHING TO DO, AND AT NIGHT I GO TO BED WITH IT HALF DONE."
TODAY IS VERY GRAY AND THE FIRST OF 3 DAYS OF EXPECTED RAIN SHOWERS. TEMPS IN THE 50S AND 60S THIS WEEK.
THE ONLY NEEDLES I EVER GOT WAS THE ONE ON MY UPPER ARM, COVERED WITH A PLASTIC DOME, TO GET INTO SCHOOL IN THE LATE 40S AND THEN THE POLIO SUGAR THINGY WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL. MY SISTER, 19 YRS OLDER, REMEMBERED ME HAVING THE MEASLES BUT NOTHING ELSE. I HAD MY KIDS GET ALL THE SHOTS AS THEY WERE SUGGESTED BY THEIR DOCTOR. THEY NEVER CAUGHT ANYTHING WORSE THAN A COLD OR THE NORMAL FLU.
HOLLY.....MGMT PAYS FOR THE BLINDS AND THE LIGHTBULBS. I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM.
I'VE HAD CHANNEL CHANGING PROBLEMS NOW AND THEN AT WHICH TIME I ORDER A NEW REMOTE FROM SPECTRUM. I USUALLY GET IT THE NEXT DAY. ITS THE CONSTANT USE OF THE BUTTONS. THEY WEAR OUT.
JANET......LADIES PILING OUT OF WINDOWS,....YES A CURIOUS SITE. I GUESS ITS MORE A MATTER OF THE HEALTHY FIREFIGHTERS GETTING TO US THRU OUR WINDOWS AND CARRYING, OR DRAGGING AS THE CASE MAY BE, OUR SVELTE BODIES TO THE LADDER AND AWAY TO SAFETY. ANY WAY YOU LOOK AT IT, NOT A GREAT VIEW OF OUR RESCUES.
NOTHING EXCITING HAPPENING HERE TODAY. I WAS GOING TO DO MY LAUNDRY BUT WHEN I GOT DOWN THERE SOMEONE WAS FILLING BOTH WASHERS. WE ONLY HAVE 2 WASHERS AND 2 DRYERS FOR THE 24 OF US AND IT WORKS OUT WELL, USUALLY. I WILL TRY AGAIN LATER.
I WILL MAKE SOME TUNA SALAD BUT STILL HAVE SOME LEFTOVERS TO FINISH UP. I DO NOT HAVE AN URGE TO COOK ANYTHING SPECIAL. I AM THINKING SIMPLE DISHES THE REST OF THE WEEK WITH NO CASSEROLES OR SOUPS ON THE MENU.
HAVE A FINE DAY MY FRIENDS. HUGS, QB S

Holly, thanks for the info about autism and immunizations; I wondered where she got that notion. Hopefully young parents will realize the benefits and get their children vaccinated.
Dean and I walked this morning for a couple of miles and he jogged for a mile. He is slowly getting back to running. He misses it so, but does not want to damage his knee replacements.
Making homemade pizza for supper tonight. We prefer homemade over takeout these days.
Has anybody here been to Hancock's in Paducah? Dean and I are going to Bowling Green and then on to Lexington in June. We are going to tour some horse farms and he wants to see the Corvette museum in Bowling Green. I am thinking perhaps I will make a stop at the fabric store. But it is a little distance from Bowling Green and was not sure if it was worth the drive.

Yes, I have been to Hancock’s many times. It is halfway between where I live and where my son used to live so it was a convenient stop. And I still sometimes make the two hour drive with quilting friends. They have a tremendous amount of fabric, including lots of wide backs. The only thing I don’t like about it is the way fabric is arranged. It is all shelved according to maker, not according to color or theme. (They probably do that because most of the business is online sales.) So if you are looking for a specific color, you have to walk all over the store. There is another nice shop just down the street, Calico Country. It is smaller but still has a good selection. And if you want a neat place to eat, go to Patti’s 1880 Settlement in Grand Rivers. I don’t think it would be much out of the way, if any, as you go from Bowling Green to Paducah. Reservations recommended.

Cheryl, one of the zillion inservices I was to was given by a doc from central PA. Somehow he’d gotten a reputation as being anti vaxxer friendly. He said as soon as he realized that, he gave the parents of his patients a choice, get the kids vaxxed or find another doc.
What a day! We got up at 4:15, Heather picked us up at 5, and off we went up the interstate. So many changes and new exits, I knew I couldn’t do it. At Cooper Hospital before 6, signed in. Taken into the surgical area a little after 7, I was his first case. A local, he made the incision, popped out the old, inserted the new loop recorder- less than 10 minutes! Stitched it, dressing, and back to the waiting area, BP x 2, dc instructions, back in the car a little after 8. Went to First Watch for breakfast, back here around 11. Heather helped Ralph with a few things, and left around 12:30. I laid down an hour later, and slept 3 hours! I can shower tomorrow night.
It’s so hot! Upper 80’s, but rain coming.

Namaste! Trish, I saw that you had an election for PM. Did the right person win?
We had a Comcast out at 8 a.m. He replaced our DVR with a newer model than the Comcast office gave us, and did something with the connection to the house. We’ll see.
The insertion site for the loop recorder is tender and bruised. DC instructions say wait til tomorrow to shower, doc said I can tonight. One guess which I’ll follow!
Another hot one today, then rain for several days. I slept 6 hours last night, so I feel better.

LABELS FOR DUMMIES......
1. PRODUCT: BLOWTORCH GAS BOTTLE.
LABEL: CONTENTS MAY CATCH FIRE.
2. PRODUCT: SUNSHADES FOR CAR DASHBOARDS.
LABEL: DO NOT DRIVE WITH SUNSHILED IN PLACE.
ITS A NICE SUNNY DAY RIGHT NOW BUT RAIN COMING AGAIN LATER. I WILL ENJOY IT WHILE I CAN.
GOOD NEWS HERE. OUR MICHELE CAME HOME YESTERDAY, JUST FINE. EVIDENTLY SHE HAD A VISITOR FROM HER CHURCH AT THE TIME AND SHE GOT A SPASM ABOVE HER LIP WHICH CAUSED HER TO SLUR HER WORDS. THE LADY CALLED 911 AND INSISTED THEY TAKE HER TO THE HOSPITAL SINCE SHE WAS HAVING A STROKE. WELL, EVIDENTLY NOT, THANK GOODNESS. MICHELE IS HOME AND BACK TO NORMAL.
I FEEL LIKE SUCH A SLUG WITH NOT COOKING ANYTHING FOR ANYBODY BUT I JUST NEED TO USE UP SOME STOCK AND SAVE SOME MONEY. I HAVE MEDICAL BILLS TO PAY FOR NOW. NOT A LOT BUT MY BUDGET IS TIGHT IN ALL DIRECTIONS. I WANT TO TRY TO SAVE ON MY FOOD BILL A LITTLE SO I CAN PAY OFF THESE BILLS QUICKER.
HOLLY......IS YOUR LOOP RECORDER PART OF A PACE MAKER? WHATEVER IS WAS, IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS AN EASY FIX AND YOU ARE DOING GREAT ONCE AGAIN. GOOD FOR YOU.
I WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY PUTER AND THEN IT CAME AROUND OKAY. MY PUTER IS SO SLOW THAT WHEN SOMETHING GOES OFF, IT TAKES A WHILE TO GET IT BACK ON TRACK TIMEWISE. ANYWAY, ALL IS WELL NOW THOUGH EARLIER I THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE TO RESTART THE WHOLE SHEBANG. AFTER NEARLY A HALF HOUR IT BLINKED AND IT WAS BACK. STRANGE.
I ONLY HAVE A FEW THINGS SCHEDULED TODAY. FIRST OFF, ITS KENTUCKY DERBY DAY, THE RUN FOR THE ROSES. I HAVE 2 FAVORITE HORSES I HOPE DO GOOD THINGS. ONE IS SANDMAN BECAUSE HIS NAME IS LIKE MINE AND HE'S A GRAY. I LOVE GRAY HORSES. THEY ARE SECOND TO MY FAVORITE, THE PALOMINO. THE OTHER IS JOURNALISM BECAUSE I WORKED AT NEWSPAPERS MOST OF MY WORKING LIFE AND HE'S BEEN DOING WELL THOUGH THIS RACE IS LONGER THAN HE'S USED TO SO MAY BE A BIG FACTOR. THE FIELD IS FULL WITH SO MANY HORSES. ITS TELEVISED FOR ABOUT 3 1/2 HOURS DUE TO ALL THE MANY OUTFITS AND FANCY HATS AND INTERVIEWS AND STORIES TO BE TOLD. ON NBC IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED WITH THE RACE ITSELF BEING RUN AROUND 7. I WILL RECORD IT JUST TO BE SURE I CATCH IT ALL.
I GOT MY PILLS SORTED FOR THE WEEK AND I STILL HAVE THE BATHROOM TO CLEAN AND I WANT TO VACUUM TODAY. I HOPE TO GET IN SOME TIME AT THE JIGSAW PUZZLE TABLE TODAY. OTHER THINGS ARE SOLITAIRE AND SOME READING AND MORE TV. NO COOKING. I STILL HAVE LEFTOVERS FOR A BURRITO LUNCH AND ALSO FOR A TUNA SUB WITH SWEET CORN FOR SUPPER.
HAVE A GREAT DAY LADIES. HUGS, QB S

Good Morning to everyone!! There is a slight breeze outside and a bit of sun. I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will just sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Sandra, the loop recorder is just a recorder, kind of a constant ekg. It reports back to Medtronic, and sends a report to my doc every month. It’s about the width of my little finger, with a length of the first two joints. It sits under the skin at the top of my left breast. He used some kind of pressure syringe to insert it down into the tissues. The first generation one had what looked like a portable phone on a cradle that transmitted when I got near it. This is second generation, and it sends the information via WiFi and Bluetooth thru my cell.
I’m so glad your friend is ok!
Tracy had a pic of Jamie up, he looks good. He has restrictions as to what he can do yet.

QB, we'll be watching the Derby but not all the preliminaries, although Howard set it to record this morning. So, I may watch some more of it, having the ability to fast forward.
I heard the most dreadful news this morning. Bill's great niece who recently went to live in Arizona with her mother died this morning in the ER. All the details aren't clear, but apparently, while living up here with her father, she was taking Tylenol for some reason and apparently continued to take it and took too much and it destroyed her liver. The warnings are pretty clear but she was just a kid. She'd just turned 15 in April. The whole story of Bill's niece, her two kids by the same loser father, etc. is a nightmare and was hopefully going to improve for Ann, and now this...
We had a happy time and a sad time with our small Bible study group, yesterday. Happy to see each other, sad because in the short time we've not been together, a little over a month, several have really declined. You know all the old saws about growing old...they are coming true!
QB, glad to hear Michelle's episode wasn't a stroke. Her other friend probably did the right thing because you never know... When Howard reminded me about the Derby last night, I told him I wouldn't have time to make my hat! I do love them, too, the more ridiculous, the better.
Cheryl, we eat the same old food, too. I look back and can't even remember what I cooked in my early years. And, when we lived in Texas and had five to feed, 6 when Danny flew down at Christmas and for the summer. One summer, he showed up at the airport with his best friend, thanks to his dad, who would do anything to get at me. Then we had another mouth plus a male friend of ours from IN, who asked if he could live with us while he looked for work in TX. With no work, he had no money to speak of, either, so I had 8, 6 of them males, to cook for plus my job, part-time though it was. Who was that woman? Surely not me!
I'd better hang this up and get some of my piddly tasks done (so I can cook supper!) Have a good day,
Indy

Judy, how awful! That poor kid and the poor family! People don’t realize how damaging Tylenol can be.
After a nap, I separated the 5 lb bag of chicken tenders into 5 bags of a pound, 4-5 is a pound. Love the kitchen scale! And I put two of the pounds of ground beef into a freezer bag of a pound each, and flattened the lumps into a thin sheet so they’ll defrost faster. It’s 82 in my house! I don’t want to turn on the air because it will only be in the 70’s and rain for the next several days.

Judy, such a tragedy about that young girl!! My heart goes out to her family.
Holly, glad to see your replacement went well. I buy chicken and beef in larger quantities too and re-bag as you do. I used to freeze my beef raw and then cook, but now I fry it first with garlic and onion powder and freeze it in 1 pound bags. We use it for chili, spaghetti sauce, nachos, etc.
It has been raining all day today. It is supposed to rain most every day this coming week. It was also a bit cool. We went to Bob Evans for supper and noticed lots of standing water in yards and along side the road.
I set the DVR to record the Derby. Dean loves to watch it, but I am not really interested. He loves horses. We will tour some thorough bred horse farms in June. Have not booked yet but have been looking. All seem to be a 3 hour tour.
MaryLou, thanks for the info on Hancocks. It is out of my way, but perhaps we will come home that way; go to Lexington (or Louisville) to see the horses, then to Bowling Green and then on to Paducah. That part of the country is so pretty it is nice just to drive around.
