QB, Belated Birthday wishes to you. Thanks for remembering mine. Not too much happening here. Saturday Tim and I went to the UPS Store. I had six boxes of Terri's stuff to ship to various family. Some were too heavy for me. Then we went out for lunch.
On my birthday I treated myself to a mani/pedi. It was very strange as it is something Terri and I did regularly. I'm glad that I did it but I was very glad it was over. Next time should be easier. I'm looking forward to getting back to some sewing. I have three sets of Terri's block of the month blocks that need to be put together. Finally got one up on design wall for placement, so will get to that soon.
Stay safe.

Devonne, are those houses still owned by single families? I mean, not broken into apartments?
Cheryl, I saw pix of that river so high, and it hadn’t crested yet! Does that happen often? Historic Philly is pretty cool. I’ve chaperoned school trips there. I have cousins in the Fishtown section, which is not far from the Delaware River. They all act like coming to jersey is like going on the Oregon Trail, LOL. As for NYC, I’ve been on bus trips way back in high school, and also bus trips to the Radio City Music Hall Xmas show. It’s about 2 hours from us. Philly is about 20 minutes away.
I’m getting my implanted loop recorder replaced May 2. It’s a short procedure, no labs, no anesthesia, and I can drive myself home if I’m inclined. The battery in mine is dead as a doornail. (What’s a doornail, and why would it die?) The new ones, the battery is good for 5 years.

I love reading all the posts, seems like many of you have a very interesting life! Mine is very still and quiet. There is a slight breeze outside this morning, beautiful day. I really don't have much of anything to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Thanks Janet! I like that brand.
Rainy here, no place we have to go, so staying in. I ironed the fabric for backing, now have to sew the two pieces together. Then I cut some muslin leftovers into 5 inch squares. Then the knees said enough!
For breakfast we had the leftovers from the omelette and hash browns that he brought home for me. Chatted with my brother Mike for a while. He drives all over checking on his crews, so he calls me when he’s on the road.
I guess I have to figure out something for dinner. again. It might be soup, because I’m uninspired.

Forgot to say, Cheryl, about napping. Several years of working nights left me able to sleep anytime, in daylight or dark.

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES.......
1. TOWN TO DROP SCHOOL BUS WHEN OVERPASS IS READY.
2. FARMER BILL DIES IN HOUSE.
IT RAINED A LOT LAST NITE LATE AND THIS MORNING. CLEARING UP NOW BUT STILL A GRAY DAY.
WHEN I WANT TO SLEEP AFTER MY 5 TO 6 AM NATURE CALL, I USE A SLEEP MASK. IT HELPS KEEP THE LIGHT OUT AND I CAN CATCH ANOTHER 3 HOURS SLEEP. EASY TO MAKE.
I GOT STARTED EARLY TODAY. I WENT TO THE COMMON ROOM TO FINISH THE LABEL FOR THE CARDINAL WH. MGMT WAS THERE TO PUT IN CABLE TV FOR THE COMMON ROOM. IT'LL BE A NICE ADDITION. WE CAN WATCH GAMES OR MAYBE HAVE A MOVIE NIGHT DEPENDING ON WHAT CHANNELS WE GET.
I GAVE THE BIRD TO MY NEIGHBOR FOR HER COUSIN. SHE LOVED IT. I TOLD HER IF SHE PREFERRED, I COULD MAKE HER A DIFFERENT ONE FOR XMAS INSTEAD. SHE DECLINED.
I ALSO FINISHED MY JIGSAW PUZZLE. WILL START A SPRING ONE TOMORROW. THEN I CAME INSIDE AND SEWED. GOT SOME OF THE TRUNK OF THE TREE FOR MY EASTER EGG TREE SATIN-STITCHED. I LOSE TRACK OF TIME WHEN I SEW. MY BACK WAS ACHING WHEN I CAME TO A STOPPING POINT AND IT WAS 2 PM. TIME FOR LUNCH AND LATE AT THAT. I HAVE TO REMEMBER TO SET MY ALARM SO I DO NOT MACHINE SEW TOO LONG AT A STRETCH.
I HAVE HAMBURGER SOUP TO MAKE TODAY BUT I MAY BE MAKING IT A BIT LATE. I'M POOPED. MADE CKN NOODLE CASSY LAST NITE THE EASY PEASY WAY AND IT WAS GOOD. MADE THE SMALL ONE BUT COULD STILL SHARE WITH 2.
THAT'S IT. GOT TO REST MY NECK AND BACK. STAY SAFE MY DEAR FRIENDS. HUGS, QB S

Another sunny but chilly day. We're home again for the day. Shows what an old lady I am that I'm always glad to stay home, now. Maybe warm, spring weather will alter that a bit.
I fixed an old everyday fleece "sweater" of mine today. After all these years, tacked the shawl collar down as it always required a lot of adjustment to get it on right. Felt good to have a needle in my hand.
I've never been to Philly but had a 2-week stay in NYC when I was 12. The couple that Mom lived with during 3 of her high school years always considered us their family as they never had children. I was invited to go with them and while he attended a conference for 2 weeks, Rae and I did/saw whatever we chose with the $20 bill he gave her daily. That was plenty in 1953. Then, for 2 more weeks, we vacationed all over New England. This little farm girl was truly blessed. And, for our senior trip, we went for a week to Colorado. There were 11 of us.
Sold a lot of shampoo and other stuff to pay for it. Our transportation was the Santa Fe Zephr
train with the glass viewing car. It was fantastic. First time I saw jack rabbits! I bought myself and my boyfriend, future husband, His and Hers western shirts. I still have mine, upstairs in my sewing room. It's so small. I can't believe it once fit me perfectly...
Guess several of us are in a supper slump. Is it the daily repetition of cooking or are we just tired of the same ol', same ol'? I have two leftover choices for tonight and neither is appealing and I don't want to get something out, either...
QB, I like the sound of your new common room furniture arrangement. And, of course, the new craft/sewing group get-together. I'll bet the others are amazed at your Victorian ladies.
Devonne, thanks for the lovely pic of the old houses. ML, before she was married, Mom and I used to travel a bit together and we've seen some beautiful ones. One of our trips was to Natchez. That's quite a round trip for you, alone. Will Gary be able to take you, sometimes?
Good to hear from you, Joni. Life adjustments can be hard after losing a loved one. How nice that you can finished those quilts from the blocks that Terri made. I remember what a fantastic quilter she was. Love and blessings.
I must go. Have a good afternoon and sweet dreams.

Nothing much new going on with me. My week has been my usual sewing, exercise class, and eating!
There was one incident. Last spring, after multiple phone calls and visits to my insurance agent and accountant, I had my required minimum withdrawal from a small IRA paid directly to my church. It was just the right amount to be my tithe for the year. The advantage to doing this, besides the convenience, is that I would not have to pay income tax on it. When I took my tax documents to the accountant, I gave him all the needed documentation. This week, I picked up my tax returns from the accountant and was told what I owe - it was more than double what I owed last year! I was rather upset because I thought it would be much less. When I asked why, he realized he had forgotten about the IRA payment to church and marked it as taxable income! He apologized and quickly made the necessary change. I ended up owing very little. This whole process has been one problem after another but at least it finally got done right.

Marylou, that was so nice of you to give your RMD from your IRA to your church. Yesterday I lost $560 in my IRA. If this keeps up, I won't have an IRA, lol. I've lost $2k in the last few months.
Holly, yes, all the beautiful homes are owned by private families.
Judy, touring old plantations was something Billy and I thoroughly enjoyed. I can't tell you how many times we have been to Oak Alley Plantation; it was our favorite. We spent the night in one of their cottages on the plantation grounds. They also have a restaurant there. We've been to Natchez numerous times; all over Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Georgia. The last trip before he died was to Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana. Gary and Emily went with us. We also took them to see Oak Alley. I would love to go one more time, but think I'm the only one with any interest in old homes, lol.
I'm fixing a zucchini lasagna tomorrow. Am also doing veggie beef soup for this weekend.

Devonne, those homes were beautiful. I do love seeing them. My brother was stationed near Savannah when he was in the army and I go to go visit him. I loved seeing the wharf area with the old buildings and the trees with the hanging moss (or whatever it is). Thanks for sharing them. If I lived closer to you, I would love to go on that sort of tour of the homes with you. That is my interest too as well as Dean's. We love old buildings, homes, documents, etc.
I agree with you about leaving enough time when getting to appointments. I hate being late.
Amelia loves soups of all sorts and she asked for potato soup for the weekend. It is so easy to do, so I will whip up a batch for her. She loves taking soup in a thermos for her school lunch. I think I will make some homemade sandwich bread to go along with it.
Devonne, so sorry on you IRA loss; I don't want to talk about losing money this past week We will never get it back at our age. My BIL used to make fun of us for saving and investing, He never did, spent his money on trips to Alaska, cruises, RVs, etc, and now he is gone. So perhaps he was right after all.

Good Morning to everyone!! The sun is shining so brightly this morning. It is very beautiful outside. It obviously rained overnight, as there is a lot of water standing in the driveway. Tracy is here, she got in late last night, around 11. So she is still sleeping.
I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

SINCE MY PUTER UPDATED A WEEK OR SO AGO I CANNOT RESIZE PICTURES SO CAN'T POST LARGE PIX FOR YOU ANYMORE UNTIL I LEARN HOW TO RESIZE THEM. SORRY LADIES. I AM JUST NOT TECHY AT ALL. MY BRAIN CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. I TRIED FOR HOURS YESTERDAY BUT NO GO.
UNLESS YOU SEND THEM TO ME ALREADY 480 BY 560 PIXELS OR SMALLER, THEY WON'T WORK. SEND THEM THE RIGHT SIZE AND I CAN DO IT.
WE GOT SNOW EARLIER, THEN A SNOW/RAIN MIX. MOTHER NATURE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE WANTS TODAY.
I MADE THE HAMBURGER SOUP AND IT WAS GOOD. MY SON WILL TAKE HOME MOST OF IT AFTER HE HAS SOME HERE FOR LUNCH.
I STARTED A NEW JIGSAW PUZZLE. ITS SPRINGLIKE. I ALSO PLAN TO DO SOME SEWING TODAY AFTER MY SON LEAVES.
MY DAY WILL BE SORT OF BUSY BUT NOT TOO MUCH. I AM GOING TO SET MY ALARM WHEN I SEW AND THAT WAY I CAN STOP AFTER A HALF HOUR OF SITTING IN FRONT OF THE MACHINE. REST STOPS ARE A GOOD THING FOR ME THESE DAYS.
YOU CAN SEE THE CARDINAL WH ON MY BLOG SINCE THEY DON'T CARE WHAT SIZE I POST THEM. THEY RESIZE THEM AUTOMATICALLY, THANK GOODNESS.
STAY SAFE MY FRIEND. HUGS, QB S

I met Gary for lunch at Jeffersons. They have a lot of different selections and the best crinkle cut fries. I got the pollock fish bites and it was very good.
Cheryl, your BIL lived a good life. Greg is a huge investor in stocks, but he also does a lot of traveling. Carter already has stocks in his name and a bank account at age 13. Gary is totally opposite. Never saves; just enjoys life as the $$ is available, lol. They're going to Key Largo with their best friends for a week in July. They were flying to Maine but changed their plans because of my diagnosis.
I bought some Bear Creek Country Kitchen broccoli cheddar soup mix. I can't recommend it because it tastes like chemicals. The cheese also didn't melt after the 10 minutes of cooking. You can't beat homemade.

Life is a crapshoot, you can save for your old age and die before you get there, or you can be old and poor.
I’ve lost a ton of money on my Royal Caribbean stock, but I got my TSA statement, and it’s up a bit.
We had a good morning, Julianna had a dance thing near us, so Heather came and hung out with us.
It’s another rainy, dreary day
Sandra, I should set a timer when I sit to read, I lose track of time.

CHERYL I forgot to thank you for all the info on the Baptism, so interesting, only having seen the greek one I would love to have been to see another - when I was little a friend and I would "swap" on Sundays, she would come to Mass with me and I would go to Sunday School with her, as it was later than Mass. We both enjoyed it LOL
SANDRA what a good idea to redo the common room so more can get together, and make use of jigsaw and just be together to chat. Sorry about that cleaner, some do work, some don't - I have a great cleaner here, love it, my sis doesn't like it, go figure, she has lots of textured tiles though and it wouldn't do them well, AND she loves the bleach clean smell, I hate it, Are we even sisters??? LOL
DEVONNE so gorgeous those old houses, the name I can't remember, a coach shaded area, something like a carport we would call it here, under cover parking LOL Hope your treatment is going well, my brother is having chemo tablets and also radiation everyday, he's extremely tired, my sis was not understanding it all, they said the tumours had shrunk, but she hadn't realised they were only the secondary ones.
You are lucky to have caught this so early, sending much love to you!!
STRINGS getting caught up on reading here is hard sometimes LOL WE have been together so long now, we miss everyone if they don't post!
HOLLY good to get the long arm out. It takes a bit of getting used to. I used one for a while, I can't do the loopy stuff on my Pfaff, my new quilt (or one of them ) I may even do Quilt As You GO. A few people on the Alice In Wonderland page are doing that, although some will not be successful, the borders have to be EXACTLY the right size to match the blocks, and the instructions are not great for this quilt. Quite annoying really as the book was expensive.
Glad to hear you got the tyre fixed JANET I usually get at least 2 done at a time if putting a new one on. As mine is front wheel drive I get the guys to put the best ones on the front and the ones with wear on the back. And keep one of the better ones for the spare. I hate the new cars with the tiny tyres. Those things cost too.
INDY how is ML, is she doing any better, you worry about her I know! I often skip lunch on a busy day like H, I shouldn't it can actually make you put more weight on - yikes!! Don't want that, I try to have protein every meal, we should have at least 110 grams of protein per day as an average for women. Depending on your life style, how much exercise etc. I know I should be having 30-50 grams 3 times a day and 15-30 a couple times as snacks.
Some yoghurt is better than others of course, the Choibani is a good one, I get one here that's Greek by Jalna. It's really good.
I just did my online shop, got Easter Eggs for the physio , I go tomorrow for the last time, hopefully. They are all going to the Easter Show, so I will have the day to myself - again.
I went to sewing Friday then as the Mr was out all day Saturday I did the Saturday class as well.
I also made some yummy Almond Orange cakes for class on Friday, they were very popular, gluten free, and only oranges, eggs, flour, sugar and a little baking powder. The only time consuming things was boiling the oranges for 10 minutes, and doing it 3 times, apparently to take out the bitterness in the pith. Then they get chopped and everything goes into the food processor. So easy. I made them as cup cakes, the recipe was for a round cake, so had to guess at the cooking times.
MARYLOU sometimes things like that happen, when the Mr retired he wouldn't use our accountant for his final lodgement, he could do it all himself LOL ---- that didn't go well, he didn't something correctly and we owed $35,000, almost had a heart attack when I opened the letter. It got fixed, but a lot of back and forth to do it, a lot of angst too!!
My order will be ready soon, so I need to get organised, I need to unpack the dishwasher, and then decide what to get for dinner as well,
See you later
