Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

I hope things are beginning to look up for you all!!
We have such a wonderful family group here, I am so grateful for all of you (((hugs))))

CHERYL for the baptism do they wear special clothing/robes? And i it outdoors??I have never seen one, just curious. I guess it was COLD!!

BJ you are so good at checking in with us, I am glad that Elly has a good groomer, she will be all pretty when she gets home

THERESA while not good news, it's not all bad for a change, I wouldn't expect to hear from them either, the perverse me would keep calling till I got an answer. But I am not in your shoes, and you really don't have time for that. Fingers crossed that Luke stays put for a while (((hugs)))

SANDRA when is it Bingo next, I am starting to send the good vibes now, it's your turn LOL I am enjoying your  funnies each day, THANK YOU

Today I finished cutting the fabric for the baby quilt, just enough big pieces to make all the blocks required, and I found a large piece of fabric in my stash for background, it has a few marks on it, but I can cut around them.
Went to the mall with Megan her birthday is May and she bought a ton of (birthday gift) clothes in Just Jeans ( it's closing) - we'll give her some for her birthday Gary and boys will give her the rest.  I bought a pair of pants and top, pants already 1/2 price with another 20% off, top was 20% off too, and I have a nice jacket that will go with them so I will wear it Sunday to the 80th party.

The rest of the day I sorted through all the little bits of fabric, and I have enough for another Mondo bag, just finished trimming and pressing them all, very little now remains of the fabric I had for the original quilt. I will give the bag to Chloe as well as the baby quilt all in the same fabrics, she can use it as a tote to carry "baby stuff" LOL

I don't have any fusible for the Mondo bag but I have made so many I should able to do it with just normal fusible. I'll check with Julie. She may even have some spare.

It's coolish here today, lovely in the sun, we had another baby red bellied black snake in the yard, he didn't survive, they tell you to leave them alone and they'll move on, this one was too small, rather glad as I don't really know where they are coming from, suspect next door, she had her lawns done a few days ago, and they last one came around the time she had it done too - we also  have vacant land behind us, and it could come from there, but it's a long way for little thing like that to travel.

Almost time for them to hibernate, so it's late for new babies, but the weather has been strange.

Time for me to get to the kitchen to decide on dinner, I am thinking steaks, steamed corn, carrots, cauliflower and beans, maybe baked potato and sweet potato.
I also have some canned apple I want to make into a crumble, maybe tomorrow for that.
We decided to go to the local pub for dinner for W on Friday night.

DON'T FORGET EVERYONE it's our beautiful SANDRA'S birthday coming up (April 3) !! I can never forget as both Sandra and W are a day apart ( or same day with our time difference)  LOL

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

It's going to be 84 today! Next week back in the 60's. Crazy, isn't it?

Carol, did you get any of the Texas hail?

I finally start my treatment today...hooray! I have 16 treatments; 20 minutes each treatment. I scheduled them for 11:00 so the entire day won't be shot. The next two days they will be at 1:30.

I have someone coming right now to give me an estimate on resodding my front yard. Later.....

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is a very gray morning here and rained overnight, but dry now.  I'm not very bright this day but will wake up further later on.  Took Frank his coffee, think he might stay in bed for awhile.  Gosh, it is so still outside, not a breath of air moving!!

I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES.......
1.  MAN HELD OVER GIANT L.A. BRUSH FIRE.
2.  TRAFFIC DEAD RISE SLOWLY.

SUNNY AND BRITE AND IN THE 30S BUT THEY SAY SNOW LATER.

DEVONNE......GOOD LUCK ON YOUR TREATMENT.  I HOPE YOU ARE FEELING GOOD IN THE AFTERNOON.

MY CARDIO APPT WENT WELL.  DR IS PLEASED.  HEART ECHO WAS VERY GOOD.  I DO NOT NEED THE HEART MONITOR YET NOR A PACEMAKER.  SCHEDULED TO SEE HIM AGAIN JULY 1ST JUST TO CHECK ON ME.  THE NEW MEDS SEEM TO BE WORKING THEIR MAGIC AND I FEEL MORE ENERGY THAN BEFORE WITH THE OLD MEDS.  THE OLD MEDS, ATENELOL,  HAVE A REPUTATION OF MAKING TROUBLE WHEN USED FOR A LONG TIME.  GLAD THOSE ARE DONE WITH.
ITS BINGO NIGHT SO I HOPE I WIN A FEW BUCKS.
MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR GAVE MY DAU SEVERAL FQS FOR MY GRDAU DEE WHO WILL MAKE THEM INTO DOGGIE BANDANAS.  SHES A PROFESSIONAL DOG SITTER AND MAKES GOOD MONEY FROM HER JOB.  SHE MAKES BANDANAS FOR HER DOGGIE CLIENTS ALL THE TIME.  SHE LOVES DOGS.  SHE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A PLACE IN THE COUNTRY WHERE SHE COULD PROVIDE SANCTUARY FOR DOGS THAT HAVE NO FUTURE.  ACTUALLY SHE HAS ADOPTED A FEW OF THEM THRU THE YEARS HERSELF.  THEY TEND TO BE THE BIG ONES.

MY GRDAU GINA IS COMING BACK ON TUESDAY NEXT TO DO SOME HOUSECLEANING FOR ME.  I ESPECIALLY WOULD LOVE HER TO DO MY FLOORS SINCE THEY ARE DIFFICULT FOR ME TO DO.  ITS THE SCRUBBING AND I CAN'T GET DOWN ON MY KNEES AT ALL.  A FEW OTHER THINGS ARE ON MY LIST FOR HER TOO.  ITS HER DAY OFF FROM WORK ON TUESDAYS SO SHE IS AVAILABLE TO CLEAN.  I WILL PAY HER, OF COURSE.
A GOOD THING IS SHE STOPPED SMOKING.  ITS ONLY BEEN 4 DAYS BUT SHE IS DOING WELL.  UNLIKE ME, SHE HAS NO APPETITE BUT INSTEAD FEELS LIKE DOING EXERCISES.  WHILE SMOKING SHE WAS TOO OUT OF BREATH TO TRY EXERCISES.  SO MAYBE ITS ALL A GOOD THING FOR HER.  I HOPE SO.  PLEASE SEND HER SOME GOOD THOUGHTS THAT SHE FINALLY QUITS THAT HORRID HABIT.

I HAVE LEFTOVER CHICKEN RICE SOUP FOR TODAY AND I HAVE SOME GROUND BEEF DEFROSTED.  I HAVE NOT YET DECIDED WHAT TO DO WITH THAT.  MAYBE A COUPLE BURGERS AND SAVE HALF FOR HOMEMADE PIZZA.

HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

I feel like I can be fit for company now, rage (not at you guys) can only be sustained for so long, and I can contain it to my blog. I’ve read over the last couple weeks to see what everyone is up to.
Our big news is a new great niece, born February 12. Her name is Mary (for my mom, who was Mary Jane) Jade (J for Joe, our late nephew who would be her uncle) Ade for Adelaide (who was Samantha’s grandmom) Boone (because they like it) Oehrl. They are calling her Boone, which is odd but cute. She was teeny, under 6 lbs! Samantha was having BP issues, so she was induced 3 weeks early. There’s pix on my blog. I made her an Afghan, several receiving blankets, burp cloths and a red hat- my dad always wore a red hat. We’re so happy for Michael and Sam, it took them 8 years to get pregnant, and they are the most wonderful couple. My brother Mike and SIL Donna are over the moon. LOL, Mike told me that Boone is short for Baboon. He’s lamenting that he’ll be in his late 80’s when she’s old enough to teach to drive.
I read somewhat that a great aunt referred to herself as Grauntie, so now Ralph and I are Grauntie and Grunkle.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

Evening y'all!

Sun still hasn't set, but it's still evening.

Mom is doing OK today.  Slurring her words and not making any sense when she talks.  Strange.  They are saying it's not a stroke, she is still in the hospital.  I got a call today to start the search for a new facility.  I already had her a list!  Scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel.  Hopefully we are done with hospital visits.

Simba is on a barkfest.  I have closed his door, and the front window blinds.  Not sure what he thinks he is barking at.

Holly, congrats on the new great niece!  I love the gruncle and grauntie!  I'm way too late for that one!  I have 4 great nephews and one great niece!  Only one of them knows I exist!

QB keep that snow up there.  Enjoying my 70's right now!

Trish, mom's current case manager gave me a number to liaison, for the facility.  I will call tomorrow!

DS praying the treatments go smoothly!

Nothing exciting here.  Just my new normal.  I want my old normal!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

SANDRA fingers crossed for Bingo for you, you should be there I think. I hope your daughter recovers form the theft, awful thing to happen to her (((hugs)))

THERESA if you have my luck they will say they'll call you back and don't LOL  the Mr says I have been put on a few banned lists he thinks, I am never rude, just won't go away till I get answers.

HOLLY that is good news for your family, I have not heard the Graunty name, the kids call me Tricia or whatever comes close LOL

Funnily enough Dianne's grands call me "aunty" where my actual nieces/nephews don't. I don't care though, whatever makes them happy to see me LOL

I picked up Dean later today, he had a Business Studies exam, said he went fine with it, but was glad he studied LOL He is (hopefully ) studying for his Advanced Maths tomorrow, then another exam on Tuesday, they will finish term on 11 April for 2 weeks, then holidays and they all (including Megan) go back. John doesn't get a Uni break till June.

I bought lunch for them today YIKES, lucky we can afford it LOL those boys love their food, John had already cleaned out the leftovers.

I also called in to the LQS, got some fusible and have drawn up the lines to make another Mondo bag. Just hope it actually sticks the fabric down, if not I'll have to pin it all and do in small sections.

Another cooler day in the morning, and warmish during the day, will be cool again tonight, just perfect!!! Love being able to sleep under a quilt.

MALAPROPS.....
1.  THEY DECIDED TO RAISE MY BENEFITS, AND THEY'RE MAKING IT RADIOACTIVE!
2.  GROWING UP THE LATTICE WORK WERE PINK AND YELLOW CONCUBINES.

THANK YOU, MY FRIENDS, FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES.  I WILL ENJOY MY DAY.
I WON, I WON.  YES, I WON $3.50 AT BINGO LAST NITE.  I FEEL LIKE I'VE WON THE LOTTERY.
WE NOW HAVE A CRAFTY MORNING HERE IN OUR COMMON ROOM ON THURSDAYS.  ITS FOR ANYONE THAT WANTS TO COME WITH THEIR HANDWORK OR JUST TO CHAT.  TODAY THERE WERE 4 OF US.  I BROUGHT AN UNFINISHED COTTON DISH CLOTH I AM KNITTING.  I COULD NOT FIND MY VICTORIAN LADIES TO WHICH I THINK I WILL ADD LACES AND TRIMS TO THEIR OUTFITS BY HAND.  I WILL LOOK FOR THEM LATER. THEY WILL MAKE NICE HAND PROJECTS TO BRING ON THURSDAY MORNINGS.

ITS A GLOOMY DAY HERE.  THE SNOW WE GOT LAST NITE WAS A DUSTING AND SOON DISAPPEARED WITH THE RAIN THAT FOLLOWED.  SO NOTHING TO SHOVEL.

TODAY I AM GOING TO DO NOTHING SINCE ITS MY BIRTHDAY.  I WILL READ, WATCH TV, PLAY SOLITAIRE, MAYBE EVEN WORK ON MY JIGSAW PUZZLE A BIT.  AND EAT, TOO  A NICE DAY FOR ME.  EXCEPT FOR GETTING MY MAIL AND THAT OF MY NEIGHBOR'S, I WILL NOT DO MUCH.  A GOOD DAY FOR ME.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  ENJOY YOUR DAY.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

Happy Birthday Sandra!
Here’s a PSA, a story Ralph told me. A hospital nurse friend of his had a heart attack years ago. After seeing commercials for a supplement saying it was good for cardiac health, she started taking it. By the by, she started having an abnormal heart rhythm called PVC’s, ended up in the ER. When she told them the meds and supplement she was taking, cardiac told her the PVC’s when from the combo of meds and the supplement. The moral is, don’t take supplements without clearing it with your doc. Natural doesn’t mean it’s good.

Theresa, between your mom and Luke, you must want to rip out your hair!

I read the discussion on adopting animals at our age. When SIL Ed’s parents adopted a puppy they were in their 80’s and the agency said the pup had to have a designated “godparent” who agreed to take the pup if it outlived them, and the agreement was in writing. Their oldest daughter agreed. Since then, SIL’s dad, who was the one who wanted the pup, died.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

Theresa, I was summoned to the Federal Jury pool last year.  Thank goodness I have not been called yet.  I do not know how long they keep one on the list of potential jurors.  I served on a Federal jury twice and do not care to do it again.  Katie, my DIL, was summoned to the local court but she went and was not seated.  Good luck to you.
Simba sounds like a joy!!

Trish, the church has what looks like a bathtub on the front of the pulpit.  I don't know if it goes into the floor of if somebody sets it up.  The water is warm and the people getting dunked wear shorts or whatever they prefer.  Andrew wore swimming shorts and a t shirt.  The older lady wore sweat pants and a t shirt.  A person with a large towel is waiting for them as they exit the tub, which has handles on both sides. The preacher held their hand and guided them out and to the towel. (My church has a tub/pool set up behind the pulpit on a stage and behind a curtain so that it is not visible unless in use. ) The preacher said some words, the kids held their nose and he quickly dunked them in the water.

We had some severe storms last night, but no damage, just lots of branches down.  Dean is out picking sticks up now.
Rained this morning and now the sun is out and it is 66 degrees.

Sandra, so sorry about the purse snatching.  It is a terrible thing to happen.  A neighborhood down by the University of Akron had 100 cars broken into the other day; police said most likely, the violators were looking for guns in the cars since some cars had broken windows but nothing taken.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

Good afternoon.  Spent my morning with the checkbook and other paper work, since I've taken over balancing.  This week has not turned out as planned but that's life.  Howard went to the doctor yesterday.  He has a lower respiratory infection and was/is coughing and barking uncontrollably.  With COPD,  we are unsure of how to handle things like this but got a better idea of what we might expect in the future.  I, of course, had it figured much worse than it was.  His lungs were clear and his oxygen was 97%.  COVID test was negative.

So here's the story of the Bad Luck Schleprock Lyonses:  We were offered some ready-to- expire cartons of fancy-schmancy seafood soup for free.  The clerk said she would have to throw them out that day but they were perfectly good.  I took two (single-servings).  She marked each N/CH.  Checked the receipt when we go home.  Sure enough we were charged $6.99 apiece and they weren't even that good.  Called the store. "Bring in receipt for refund.
Accomplished that next time we were in town, but had to wait in line for a long time.
#2 Went across the street to Wendy's.  Ordered 2 sandwiches, 2 Cokes, $23.21.  I told Howard, no way that is right.  Checked order, an extra double meat, cheese, bacon burger to the tune of $9 in bag.  Went in, got that refund, was told keep the sandwich.  #3 Went on to W-M whose power went out as we walked in.  Came back on but there would be a 20 min. delay for their computers to reboot.  We really needed an rx and some other stuff, so okay.  Checked out with no trouble when done.   Got home and the OTC cough med Howard needed badly was not there.  Check the receipt, were missing several things, one bag's worth.  Called, sure enough, they'd found it.  Come in for refund as they were putting it all back.    That was Tuesday, so with his doctor's appt., yesterday, Wed., and another rx to pick up, it worked out.  Now, I only have to go to the other town and other grocery and get reimbursed for bag of chips ($5) they charged me for that I never got a couple of weeks ago. Who was wishing for some  excitement in their life?  Watch out what you wish for!

Will close with birthday wishes for QB.  Enjoy the rest of your day.  Sounds like a good plan to only do just what you like.  Congrats on your Bingo win.  So sorry about your granddaughter's theft.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

Holly, I agree that natural isn’t always good. Whenever someone says otherwise, I say poison ivy is natural but I sure wouldn’t eat it!

I drove to Carbondale (30 miles) for my mammogram this morning. Already saw results on MyChart, it was normal. Came straight home afterwards because I couldn’t think of anything else I needed to do there. When I got home I remembered that I should have gone to Lowe’s for new bathroom faucets because one of mine is leaking badly!  My nephew is going to replace them for me after he heals completely from recent carpal tunnel surgery so it’s not a big problem that I forgot but I am disgusted with myself about it. There are 2 sinks in my bathroom so it’s ok that one has the water turned off to it.

I had been toying with the idea of trading cars but have decided not to. My Ford Edge is 8 years old but only has 50,000 miles on it and is in excellent condition.  David wishes I would get a new one because he would like to buy mine for Melanie and then they would give her current car to Nate.  I simply don’t want to go through the process of shopping for a car. I have loved my Edge so, if I did trade would like another one. However, they quit making them.  So now I am thinking of just giving David some of his “inheritance” now rather than selling him my car at a greatly reduced price. Then he would be the one to shop for a car instead of me.

Yesterday, local schools decided about 12 to dismiss at 12:30 so students could get home safely before severe storms hit. My brother usually picks up his grandson after school but was out of town and couldn’t get home in time, SIL was babysitting their twin 2-year-old granddaughters and they were napping so she couldn’t get there quickly. Since I live across the road from the school, they asked me to go get Drake. I was happy to do it. When Drake started school my nephew had put me on the list of who could pick him up so it was not a problem. He didn’t end up staying very long until my niece couldn’t get him but I enjoyed him being here.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

Happy Birthday Sandra.
Knew someone who was drinking mega whey protein shakes.  Turns out they raised her liver enzymes to dangerously high levels.  lThis was caused, they think, because most are loaded with heavy metals. That’s another story. She was diagnosed with non Hodgekins lymphoma.  It didn’t end well.
So again, natural isn’t always good for you nor supplements either.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

Can I say I hate the postal service? We send small packages in the priority envelopes. When we send Manda anything, she’s in the Seattle area and she gets it in 2-3 days. Steph is next to Portland, OR. They bounce packages for days between Portland and Beaverton, it’s always at least a week. I mailed her coasters last Thursday and she still hasn’t gotten them. When I mail cards regular mail to Manda, it can take 2 weeks! The Pony Express could have done better. This has been going on for years.

Janet, that’s scary about protein shakes!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 30 ~ SAT APRIL 5

Sandra, sorry I'm so late with happy birthday wishes.

Marylou, I think you made the right decision in keeping your Edge. I've narrowed my search down to 5-6 vehicles. Greg said my list would not be complete until we do a lot of test driving, so I am dreading that part. I hope I feel like shopping in May...time will tell. I want a white vehicle, so that is going to narrow the vehicles. It may not work out as I want, lol.

Holly, congratulations on the little one!

Had my 2nd treatment today - 14 more to go! Met with the oncologist afterwards and he said I'm doing good. You have to hold your breath about 10-12 times in a 20 minute time period, then she tells you when to breathe. This is to help protect your heart.

Theresa, this will be the 3rd place for your Mom. Hopefully, it will be the lucky charm...the best place of all! Congrats to Luke for getting his job back.

Janet, you have scared me. I was thinking of getting some protein drinks to use during my treatments. Now I don't think I will. The energy drinks scare me to death so I wouldn't buy those!
