Good Morning to everyone!!  It is a beautiful day here.  The sun is shining and a good breeze is blowing.  I really don't have a thing to say here, so will sign off and wish you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 2 ~ SAT MARCH 8

Linda- the weather guessers were so far off today. Cancelled lunch plans today. And then the sun came out and the wind died down at about 12:30, we were supposed to meet at 11:30…so another disappointment came my way. 3 of my friends are either in FL or on their way…
I’m trying to square up half rectangle triangles…I can’t wrap my head around the “specialty “ ruler. 🤪. If they’re not trimmed just right they won’t line up. Now I remember why the project wound up in the UFO tub. One more try and it will be back in that tub.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 2 ~ SAT MARCH 8

We were under a severe thunderstorm warning last night. We got heavy rain and wind in the early morning hours. Gracie was very uneasy. Dogs can sense bad weather.

I sure felt the arthritis aches today after the rain. Did one load of laundry and that's all I accomplished today.

Janet, good luck on figuring out squaring up the half square triangles.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 2 ~ SAT MARCH 8

Devonne, thank you for the lovely sympathy card.  Dean was very touched that you would think of him.

We, too, had lots of rain today and now the wind is howling and will bring the temp down for sure.  Supposed to get some snow tonight after being 61 degrees yesterday   The mud is awful and Bosco, the giant dog is staying with us while Aaron and Katie are in California for the week.  We have to wipe his giant feet before letting him into the house.   Gabriel and Amelia are here too and while they all love to visit, they are missing home.  It is actually 20 minutes closer to their schools from our house and Gabriel has to be there by 7:10 a.m., so they are here for now.  We do go to their home after school to check the house and to check on their cat.

We just got back from Gabriel's band concert.  They do a nice job with the music for such a small school.  Both of my boys went there and graduate in 1998 and 2002, but the school enrollment has shrunk so much with many kids doing online or going to neighboring districts.

I have been cutting some of my scrap fabric into the potato chip size of 2.5 x 4.5 inch rectangles.  I will try one of those quilts when I have enough blocks.  It is a relaxing way to spend some time.  I do have two or three quilt tops that need to be sandwiched and pinned, but I am not in the mood to do that.  I don't care much for the quilting, but I do it to get the top done.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 2 ~ SAT MARCH 8

CHERYL I will have to look up potato chip quilts. I haven't heard of them. You are so good to have the kids (and dog) I know how hard it is when we get older (((hugs)))

DEVONNE they are expecting tons of rain north of us, it shouldn't affect us at all, Cyclone is hanging off the coast, he's slowed down, so they are expecting it to be even worse now.

JANET sorry about the frustration with the pieces, I googled it, there are a few very good tutorials, using just a normal ruler to trim, seems like you have to trim them a bit differently, with the points NOT in the corner, google and you'll see.

SANDRA have you heard anything more about Michelle? Thanks for the mayo rolls video.

STRINGS glad to hear you tried them, I make sourdough so I will keep doing that for a while yet, I'll think about the mayo ones later.

I got an english paper piece block prepped today, Megan was here, then John back from uni and Dean from school, they were all here waiting for the cleaners to finish at their house. Megan had to take a further bowel prep for tomorrows surgery, so she took it before she left her last school at 11am, was here, then did meetings online and finally went home around 4pm.

I made ricotta and bacon pastries, also apple ones, still some left LOL I thought the boys would polish them off!

I had plenty of leftovers for dinner, so the Mr had waffles and bacon left from Pancake Tuesday, and I had some stir-fry beef and veg. (it keeps changing stir-fry to starry - I have to put the - in.

I want to clean out the spare room tomorrow with the new vac, and hopefully get the wood floors cleaned and polished as well with the new steam cleaner. I hope I have enough floor polish, I forgot to check I think it was getting low.

It's humid here again, and it seems to get more humid at night, I didn't sleep well last night, I hope to get more tonight.

See you later.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 2 ~ SAT MARCH 8

Devonne- HST are easy…it’s the dang half rectangle triangles that are a pain.

Trish- I finally went to YouTube and yes there are lots of videos on HRT trimming.  I finally managed to get 2 trimmed but then it was time to make dinner.  Hope I remember how to do it when I get back to it today. 😵‍💫. In gave 60 more to trim.  lol.  What was I thinking?

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 2 ~ SAT MARCH 8

A quick check-in.  I'm busily preparing for our small group tomorrow.  Got a call from one of them last night.  She's in the hospital with heart troubles so she, her hubby, and the 98 yr. old they bring will not be coming.   So, instead of 10, it'll be 7 unless someone else can't make it.  I'm making chicken tortilla soup, ML's recipe and one I've made before and gotten compliments on.  So easy.  Open cans and dump...

We got two inches of snow last night.  So, it's winter again.  But, not for long, the blessing of it being March.  Howard has his driving test this afternoon.  The person who does it is coming here with her dual controls car.  It's a two-hour window of time so who knows what else she will do while here.  Guess I'll go in our bedroom and read to stay out of their way.  She needs a table to work at????

Cheryl, is the dog agreeable to having his paws wiped?  Some don't like that and fight you.
He always sounds like a sweetheart, though.  You two are wonderful grandparents.

Trish, best wishes to Meagan.  Soon it'll be over and she can begin recovery.  They waiting is always trying.  You'll be busy with it all, too.  Hugs and prayers.

So, I'm off to poach the chicken for the soup.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 2 ~ SAT MARCH 8

Judy, those are the best kind of recipes! Good luck to Howard on his driving test.

Sandra, hope Michelle will recover and make it back home.

It's cold here in the south, 33 degrees when I got up. This won't last long though.

MISPELLIMGS.........
1. TO CELEBRATE AT FEASTS, THE INHABITANTS OF OLD ENGLAND SOMETIMES CUT THE HEAD OFF THE BIGGEST BORE AND CARRIED IT AROUND ON A PLATTER.
2.  FLOODS FROM THE MISSISSIPPI MAY BE PREVENTED BY PUTTING BIG DAMES IN THE RIVER
.

ITS A SUNNY DAY AND IN THE 40S.  SPRING MAY BE COMING SOON, THOUGH ITS GUSTING AROUND 40 MPH.

TRISH.....BEST WISHES FOR MEGAN AND HER SURGERY.

CHERYL......YOU CAN TRAIN THE DOG TO ROLL OVER TO GET HIS PAWS WIPED.  I DID WITH MY CORGI, PENNY.  SHE WAS SO CUTE.  WHEN I CAME INTO OUR ENTRY HALL AND HELD MY  HAND TOWEL SHE WOULD ROLL ON HER BACK AND PUT HER FEET IN THE AIR TO BE WIPED OFF.
ONCE SHE LEARNED, I NEVER HAD TO TELL HER TO 'ROLL OVER' AGAIN.  THE TOWEL DID THE TRICK.

JUDY......I HOPE HOWARD'S DRIVING TEST GOES OK AND HE CAN DRIVE AGAIN.

I HAVE CHICKEN RICE SOUP ON THE MENU TONITE FOR MY SON'S VISIT TOMORROW.  I WILL NOT BE MAKING THE TATER TOT CASSY.  TO TELL THE TRUTH, I'M GETTING A BIT TIRED OF IT AND THINK IT NEEDS A MISS THIS WEEK.
I AM READING ANOTHER MYSTERY.  FINISHED THE ONE FROM THE LIBRARY.  REC'D MY LAST 2 ORDERED BOOKS IN THE MAIL SO THEY ARE WAITING.

REMEMBER, ITS DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME CHANGE SATURDAY BEFORE YOU GO TO BED.  SPRING FORWARD.
HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 2 ~ SAT MARCH 8

BJ I hope you feel better soon ((((hugs)))) pretty cold where you are, stay warm!

SANDRA maybe for Michelle no news is good news, at least I hope she is doing well! THANK YOU for the good thoughts for Megan, she went well, Dr says he took everything except ovaries, but he removed tumours from both of them. It was a long day yesterday, we were at the hospital till almost 11pm then Warwick went this morning early, she needed a few things, now I'm heading back again this afternoon.

DEVONNE cold for you too!!! stay warm.

INDY thank you! She is ok, not comfortable, and probably not going to be a good patient LOL drugs and Megan don't mix!! They have just taken out all the tubes, so no more drugs by button pushing, she'll be better with pills. NOT strong ones though, like me she can't handle them.

Hope H did well with his test, coming up fast for us too, we have to do it at 80, I am investing in a few driving lessons before it, just to check any bad habits!

JANET keep plugging away at the pieces, seems like they  are odd to trim, doesn't look like it's right, but they fit together better when trimmed that way. You don't need a special ruler, just one with 1/4" marks at the corners. I have lots of those!

The hospital Megan is in is quite close, but parking is expensive and difficult, there is some street paring, but mostly taken, Gary & I got there just before visiting was closing at 8pm last night, she still wasn't back but we elected to wait, finally came back to her room at around 9.30 and we stayed. Pete went out and got her the u-shaped pillow she wanted this morning, and W took it on his way to bowls, she was disappointed I didn't come this morning, but the boys were there as well, and I knew they would want to remove tubes/drains and shower her, and the Dr would be in, so I will stay as long as she needs now.

As a mum it's hard to see your child go through this, she has never had any kind of surgery before, so she was quite scared. And Gary being a worrier makes it harder. I have my pieces to sew, some crochet and my Kindle, the Mr won't be home till late so I will stay later if she wants. Gary will go home and come back tonight too. It's darn cold in the hospital, so I need to take a jacket or dress warmly, silly because it'w quite hot and humid outside LOL Pete can come back with Gary, it's great we are so close to each other distance wise, makes life easy.

Our cat 2 cyclone Alfred hit early today, he's been causing havoc on the north coast for a few days. Lots of flooding and STUPID people on headlands trying to video with their phones getting waves dumped on them, I really thought we were a smarter nation than that, appears not to be the case, one woman even with a baby in a pram - so stupid.
Some of the beautiful beaches on the Gold Coast have been eroded badly, and people were warned to stay inside a couple days ago, all public transport was ceased and flights stopped, no cruise ships able to dock in Brisbane either, so they are out there sailing in circles LOL
In Sydney we will get some rain tomorrow, the width of Alf is the biggest we have ever seen.

I want to get some food ready for tonight so will see you tomorrow
Thanks again for the good thoughts for Megan she really appreciated them.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 2 ~ SAT MARCH 8

MISPELLINGS..........
1.  GEOMETRY TEACHES US TO BISEX ANGELS.
2.  THEY GAVE WILLIAM IV A LOVELY FUNERAL.  IT TOOK SIX MEN TO CARRY THE BEER.

SUNNY HERE TODAY BUT HIGH WINDS AGAIN GUSTING TO 40S.

WE LOST POWER FOR 3 HOURS YESTERDAY DUE TO THE HIGH WINDS KNOCKING IT OUT.  MAYBE TREE LIMBS FALLING AND BREAKING WIRES.  ANYWAY, IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN TODAY.

TRISH......GLAD TO HEAR OUR MEGAN IS DOING BETTER.  OF COURSE SHE WAS SCARED.  ITS ALWAYS SCARY ANYTIME ONE GOES TO HOSPITAL AND ESPECIALLY FOR SURGERY.  THOSE ARE THINGS THAT MAKE ME SO WORRIED AND I'M AN OLD GAL READY FOR THE COMPOST PILE.  TELL HER I AM THINKING OF HER AND WISHING HER QUICK RECOVERY AND SMILES AGAIN.

I AM FEELING BETTER MYSELF AND MADE A BIG POT OF CHICKEN RICE SOUP LAST NITE.  FED 3 NEIGHBORS AND HAVE ENOUGH SET ASIDE FOR LUNCH FOR SON PLUS FOR HIM TO TAKE HOME A CONTAINER.  YES, HE SHOPS FOR ME TODAY.  IT FELT GOOD TO COOK AGAIN.
I DID NOT MAKE THE TATER TOT CASSEROLE THIS TIME.  TO TELL TRUTH I AM GETTING TIRED OF IT A LITTLE.  AND I TOTALLED UP THE COST AND ITS ABOUT $22 FOR THIS MEAL.  SURE, I SHARE WITH OTHERS, BUT I WAS HOPING TO CUT SOME COSTS IN MY GROCERY BILL THIS WEEK.
I HAVE MORE ENERGY NOW WITH THE PRESCRIPTION CHANGES. STILL, I WON'T OVERDO ANYTHING TIL AFTER MY DR APPT ON MONDAY AND MORE TESTS TO SEE IF THINGS ARE MOVING ALONG WELL.
I GOT A SURPRISE THIS MORNING.  WHILE I WAS IN THE SHOWER A NEIGHBOR BROUGHT UP A LARGE ENVELOPE FOR ME THAT JUST CAME.  ITS WAS THE STAMPS I ORDERED.  I WAS AMAZED.  THE LAST TIME I ORDERED I THINK IT TOOK 2 1/2 WEEKS.  THIS TIME ONLY 5 DAYS.  SOMEONE DID SOMETHING RIGHT.

I AM STILL ON A READING BINGE.  OH, I ALSO WANT TO REPORT SOMETHING ABOUT MY SOLITAIRE PLAYING ON PUTER.  I USE A MOUSE.  MY RIGHT HAND HAS BEEN GIVING ME FITS WITH ACHES AND PAINS AND EVEN NUMBNESS IN THE MORNING WHEN I AWAKEN.  I ATTRIBUTE IT TO CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME.  WHAT TO DO.  I AM ALWAYS TRYING TO IMPROVE THINGS.  SO I AM NOW PLAYING SOLITAIRE WITH MY LEFT HAND ON THE PUTER PAD.  ITS SLOW BUT I AM IMPROVING A BIT.  RESTING MY RIGHT HAND HAS BEEN AMAZING.  NO MORE NUMBNESS IN THE MORNINGS.  NO MORE PAIN IN THE WRIST.  I WILL KEEP IT UP.

THAT'S IT.   HUGS FOR YOU ALL. QB S
