Happy Sunday! Have a great week!
Offline
So glad the really cold nights are over. It's going to be 72 on Wednesday.
I made smothered pork chops yesterday so I'll have leftovers for dinner today. Looking for a movie to watch.
Judy, I forgot to answer your question about the dogs. They love being in the sewing room with me and they both sleep. I decided to hand sew these blocks together. That only lasted about 5", lol. I'm not a hand sewer.

FROM LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES (READERS DIGEST)....
I GAVE MY DATE TWO OPTIONS FOR DINNER: AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT OR A RESTAURANT WHERE THEY SERVED ALL KINDS OF STUFF. SHE SAID SHE HATED ITALIAN FOOD, SO WE WENT TO THE OTHER RESTAURANT.....WHERE SHE ORDERED A LASAGNA.
IT WILL BE WARMER TODAY, NEARLY 40 AND SUNNY. LOVE IT.
MY SON SHOPPED AND I WAS SURPRISED THAT EGGS WERE 7.99 A DOZEN. IT SEEMS THAT 100 THOUSAND HENS HAD TO BE PUT DOWN DUE TO AVIAN FLU IN THE STATE. I GUESS THAT MEANS HIGH COST OF EGGS IN MY FUTURE.
ANYWAY, HE GOT EVERYTHING ELSE SO I'M A HAPPY CAMPER.
MY SOUP WENT OVER WELL WITH EVERYONE AND THE TATER TOT CASSY I MADE IN THE MORNING DID, TOO. I STOCKED UP A BIT ON SOME CANNED GOODS AND REDID MY INVENTORY OF THOSE STOCKS WHICH ARE IN BOXES IN MY ENTERTAINMENT CENTER AND IN MY WALK-IN CLOSET. I DON'T HAVE MUCH STORAGE IN MY KITCHEN IT BEING SO SMALL. BEFORE I KEPT AN INVENTORY I NEVER KNEW WHAT I HAD ON HAND. THIS WORKS FOR ME.
TODAY IS MY DAY OF REST. EXCEPT FOR TAKING OUT MY TRASH TO THE DUMPSTER, I WILL BE LAZING AROUND THE HOUSE, SNACKING OF COURSE AND DOING WHATEVER PLEASES ME. I ALREADY SORTED AND BAGGIED MY MEATS FOR THE FREEZER THIS MORNING.
NO SEWING IS ON MY LIST FOR TODAY.
DEVONNE......I ACTUALLY ALWAYS LIKED HAND SEWING, APPLIQUE PROJECTS WERE A FAVORITE. I ALSO DID SOME HAND QUILTING MANY, MANY YEARS AGO. I KEEP TELLING MYSELF I HAVE TO GET DOING THAT AGAIN, BUT I NEVER SEEM TO GET STARTED. I APPLAUD YOU FOR GIVING IT A TRY.
THAT'S IT LADIES. I HAVE DONE MY DAILY CHECK-IN WITH YOU AND NOW I'M OFF TO DO OTHER THINGS.
HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

AFTERNOON!
WILL TRY TO GET BACK LATER.
THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS
Offline
Cheryl, so many here do a short visitation followed by the funeral all at one time, not the evening before calling with the funeral the next day. Personally, I think that's the best choice, not just to get it over with as it could seem, but for the family's well-being--unless there are long distance travelers coming. I'm glad his sibs took Dean's advice. Age makes a big difference and how nice that you were all together last summer for good memories.
I would suggest you make Amelia salmon in the air fryer, if she's the only one eating it. As for me, I have them cut equal portions (about 3 inches) across the filet so they bake for the same amt. of time, I rinse, blot dry with paper towels, place on a piece of foil or parchment paper on a flat baking pan. Smear a bit of olive oil on, and add freshly ground pepper and kosher salt. Place in a 400 degree oven for exactly 15 mins. So mine don't have any glazes or other additions, but we like them. In the summer, Howard grills them using the same ingredients.
Devonne, I guess it's more likely cats in the sewing room that can cause havoc. Some of the pics on Instagram showing what cats have done or are doing can be quite funny. Nice that your girls are with you but they sleep. Dogs are great sleepers!
All I do now is hand sew or talk about doing it! I've always liked it and often the machine irks me in some way and sitting at it makes my back ache.
My slacks nearly fell off (worn out elastic) at our small group, Friday, so I will be picking out the waist stitching and replacing the elastic. That will require several rows of stitching since that's how elastic is put in now. Was going to pitch them, but decided if I leave the bottom row of stitching, remove the upper ones, there will be a space to thread elastic thru like we used to. Nothing else wrong with the pants and I need them.
So far, the neighbors charge me $2.00/Doz. for eggs if I return the cartons. I have offered more but they insist. So I haven't had to face the high egg prices. However, their chickens are only laying 1 or 2 eggs per day, so I'll be lucky if they have any for others until warmer weather. Her parents have chickens, too, that are not laying right now but even if they were, they live a couple of hours away so while Shena brings their excess home when she visits them, that isn't very often. At full tilt, I have them bring me 4 doz. at a time since they graciously do carry them over here. I love eggs, one a day for breakfast, so I will buy them when I have to.
Off to read my book. I "convinced" Howard to watch his basketball game upstairs by reminding him that he said that's what he would do. So, I have the silent living room to myself for now.

I paid $8 for a box of 18 large eggs. They were not limiting the number of cartons, so I bought 3. I also bought 3 qt containers of egg whites.
The culling of the chickens did not stop the spread of avian flu. Some was done in areas that didn’t even have cases of the flu. 🤐
Finally a warm sunny day close to 50*.
Tomorrow I plan to resume my usual routine. I’ve gone stir crazy here cooped up due to snow, ice, power outage and being sick. The house has gotten smaller and smaller, if you know what I mean.
I have a week full of plans this week.

Good Morning to everyone!! It is 48* here today. I'm not feeling very bright this morning, so will just say Hi! to everyone. There is a slight breeze here this morning, but no sun!
I really don't have a thing to say, so will just sign off and go crash in my chair!! Have a wonderful day, everyone, BJ.

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES......
1. DEFENDANT'S SPEECH ENDS IN LONG SENTENCE.
2. DOCTOR TESTIFIES IN HORSE SUIT.
ITS GETTING WARMER. IT HIT 40 YESTERDAY AND WE MAY SEE A FEW MORE OF THOSE DAYS.
I AT LEAST GOT MY TORN FABRIC HIDDEN UNDER A BIT OF FAIRY FLUTTERING BESIDE THE EGG. THAT WAS A WIN FOR ME TODAY. I PLAN ON COOKING AND A BIT OF CLEANING BUT NOT MUCH. MY HEAD IS A BIT WOBBLY. THAT LIMITS MY DOINGS.
MADE THE STEAK AND ONIONS LAST NITE SO HAD A 6" STEAK SUB FOR SUPPER. I HAVE ENUF LEFT FOR LUNCH TODAY. THEN SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR SUPPER.
SINCE I LOVE EGGS, I WILL PAY WHAT IT TAKES TO GET A DOZEN EVERY 2 WEEKS. ITS GETTING TO COST THE SAME AS MY STEAK ON SALE.
I KNOW, I KNOW, I LEAD A RATHER DULL LIFE. BUT ITS FINE WITH ME AS LONG AS I CAN KEEP GOING ON MY OWN AND DOING A FEW THINGS I ENJOY.
STAY SAFE LADIES. HUGS, QB S

Already noon here. So far, I've done nothing but read this and that. QB, your life is gentle, peaceful, and kind and doesn't seem boring to me. What you post is always positive and soothing to read. Few of us are setting the world on fire for whatever reasons and thankfully!
Did you ever think of writing down your memoirs? I think you've led an interesting life and I know you worked for some kind of newspaper and I believe you even wrote a column...am I right?
One of the lovely things here is the varied lives we've all lived and the varied places. Our group has broadened my horizons and I'm always proud to mention my internet friends which no one else I know has anything like. In fact, I don't think they even get it...
I, for one, always tell you what we're having for supper, then often promptly change it to something else because I'm a "grasshopper" and hop from this to that. But, we always eat something! Last night, it was l/o BBQ pork and some squash soup I had in the freezer. Howard's comment was: And what is the purpose of this (meaning the soup)? Well, I was just trying to use up the soup and add something else to the sandwich. He left the soup and since I forgot to turn off the stove burner, the last of it dried up and I smelled it burning!
Have a good afternoon. Take care.

I am trying to redo my Will to add "Joint Right of Survivorship" clause. One of my friends said if I added this, it would mean my sons wouldn't have to deal with Probate Court. The UPS Store will notarize it and witness my signature.
I need a description of this lot to put in the Will. I can't find where I "misplaced" my Warranty Deed and all my other house papers. I'm glad this issue came up so I can find them.
Judy, you are nicer to Howard than I would have been. If Billy had asked me that I probably would have said "if you don't like it, Burger King is waiting on you," lol!
I hear someone cutting their grass...already?

The windshield of my car cracked. It was ok when I left the house but cracked while I was at the dump. 😳
I have $500 deductible. The quote is over $1000. They advertise that they take the insurance as full payment but when you call that’s a different story.
What do you think when you have a lunch “date” with a friend and they text to say that so in so is joining us? Luckily it happens to be a good friend that’s joining us. I still don’t think it’s proper to invite someone else to join in without asking first. This was supposed to be a retreat planning meeting that the other gal is not attending.
Hopefully we’ll be able to settle this retreat stuff tomorrow.
Nice to finally get out of here, even if it was only the dump, gym and grocery.
Plenty of eggs but no displayed price. I have plenty for now. Like Sandra, we go through lots and lots of eggs….so I’ll pay whatever I have to.
BTW the regular size Triscuits were almost $6. 😵💫

Devonne, if I complain about cooking or suggest something he doesn't want, he always says, "I know where McDonald's is!" So far, we haven't resorted to that at the time, but he is also willing to get something out anytime so long as he doesn't have to go in and eat. But as you can see, it limits us to fast food most of the time.
I hope you find your important papers. I'm looking for something most of the time.
Janet, I think it's a bit rude even if you do both know the other person and especially if something particular is to be discussed like your retreat. However, I'd just let it go this time.
I probably wouldn't have an opinion but that happened to my friend Cheryl and I once. We were to eat out with our mutual friend, Kay, and she showed up with an unknown to us person without a word ahead of time. And, actually it didn't matter all that much. But, it was surprising.
Off to make supper. Sauteed shrimp w/Old Bay seasoning, rice and broccoli. This is not subject to change because there's nothing else to pick from.

The price of eggs here are $5.99 a dozen for extra large. I, too, love eggs and use a lot of them with my eating of them and baking with them. Janet, I did not buy Triscuits, but did have a coupon for Buy one/get one for Doritos. Gabriel loves them, so I did get two bags and they were $6.49 each!! Yikes, so glad I had a coupon.
It was rather warm today, close to 40 with a little sun. Still NE Ohio gray most of the day, but the snow is melting in the yard and we have large puddles of standing water. The squirrels out in my back yard ware jumping and running all over the place. They made me laugh out loud while watching them.
Devonne, perhaps your county auditor will have your lot description. Ours is posted on our taxes and it is also on the county auditors site.
I don't know about the joint survivorship clause.
Dean and I walked at the park today. It was chilly but not too bad, but the wind around the lake was fierce.
Speaking of cats in the sewing room, Kelli had three cats and one always would sit right on her fabric as she tried to cut it. He just stared at her thumping his tail.
All Joann Fabric stores will close now; I am sad at this news. I usually did not buy fabric at the quilting stores because I mostly donate so I do not want to pay the price for "good " fabric. I did not buy cheap stuff, but I like to touch the fabric, so did not buy online either. Sigh...I guess I will use up what I have, which is still quite a bit.
I do not hand sew. I used to do a little embroidery but hand sewing was a chore for me. My grandmother pieced either by hand or on her treadle machine and the always hand quilted. I still use the quilt she gave me for my wedding (a wedding ring quilt) in 1976.

I hand sew. I always have handwork with me at appointments. Travels well.
I won’t miss Joann’s.
My male cat used to climb into the hood on my sweatshirt when I sewed. Like a papoose. They were never allowed in my studio if I wasn’t in there.

Hi all
Been a rough week here, sorry I didn't get on to lock the old thread, thank you !!! DIANE for doing so.
SANDRA thank you too for keeping everyone going here, I am so sorry about your friend, Hope she is feeling better and recovers quickly, prayers for Michelle ((((hugs)))) and YOU too, hang in there the dizzy will pass, I am amazed at all you accomplish!
JANET congrats to your grandson on his license and new car, may he enjoy many hours of peaceful safe driving!
INDY it's been crazy here, I know how you felt with so much going on, you don't know where to start, or what to tackle first LOL I'm glad you had a little quiet time with the Mr upstairs, I am glad for my quiet time too ((((hugs)))
DEVONNE you are going ahead fast, I know you will find the paperwork, we keep all ours together, and I am about to start compiling a funeral file, I have things I want to happen, things I won't/don't care about, but I will have it all together.
THERESA keeping you my thoughts an prayers, I wish there was an easy option for you, but seem like it's going to be hard work, and more hard work (((((hugs))))
CHERYL I am glad the viewing went well, And it certainly makes sense for older people to stay away for such a long drive and short visit, I LOVE salmon, and we have it regularly, occasionally baked, but more often I just have a non-stick pan, heat to medium-hot, I spray the skin side with a light spritz of olive oil, and cook skin down for about 4 minutes, depends on the size of the fish. then I flip it over ( no more oil) and cook a couple mins, turn back to skin down again, test for 'doneness' I like mine still a bit raw-ish looking in the centre, but a minute or two with a lid on if you don't - and you're done. It's one of my fastest dinners, some steamed veg, and potato baked in the microwave for the Mr. So about 10-15 mins and I'm finished LOL
We seem to be having the worst luck this year, one thing after another.
First the earlier accident with trees, both Kristens house and Pete's foot., Warwick's eye, Gary's Bells Palsy and Chloe's heart problems with pregnancy.
NOW it's starting to happen again, Megan's MIL has had a small clot in the brain, Megan has her colonoscopy in 2 days, (hysterectomy next week) Gary's brothers oldest is in hospital (children's - he has an awful tumour disease, they can appear and grow anywhere all the time ( NF I think they call it) he won't eat right now, and is being tube fed.
AND my darling Ruari has had a tumble on his bike riding home from school his poor little face is so smashed, his eye closed and his knee smashed, thank heavens he had a really good helmet on, saved him.
In emergency and released now, he doesn't seem to have any breaks, no concussion, but his nose is a mess, and his wrist/hand is sore, they didn't X-ray it, so I have asked them to get him back there in a couple days if he's still holding it and it's sore. He was so lucky, but poor little guy is a mess, and he was so loving school for his first year, he'll be off for a while.
Can we please have 2025 move on and start 2026 LOL
On a better note, on Saturday I had time out from all this to do our fund raiser for Blood Cancer and we were part of a huge effort from 16 gyms all across Australia, totally we raised just under $30,000, and our little group raised $5,300 which is amazing for such a small gym type membership. very proud of all of our team

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES......
1. POLICE BEGIN CAMPAIGN TO RUN DOWN JAYWALKERS.
2. POLICE DISCOVER CRACK IN AUSTRALIA.
THE SUN IS PEEKING IN AND OUT THIS MORNING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN. IN THE 40S THO SO THATS NICE.
I DID A FEW LAPS THIS MORNING BUT DIDN'T WANT TO GET ON HERE TOO LATE SO WILL FINISH LATER.
PLANS TODAY INCLUDE MAKING THE POT OF MASHED TATERS. I WAS TOO TIRED TO DO MUCH YESTERDAY. AGAIN I ONLY HAD 4.5 HRS SLEEP LAST NITE BUT LUCKY ME, I CAUGHT A LONG NAP AFTER SUPPER, 1 1/2 HOURS. IT FELT DARN GOOD. MAYBE I CAN DO THE SAME TODAY.
JUDY......I AM WRITING DOWN STORIES IN A BOOK ABOUT MY LIFE WHICH STARTS BACK WHEN I WAS A TODDLER. I CAN'T REMEMBER EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED BACK THEN BUT SOME THINGS STAND OUT THRU THE EARLY YEARS OF MY LIFE.
THAT'S A REASON NOT TO BRING YOUR KIDS AND GRANDKIDS TO DISNEYWORLD BEFORE THEY ARE 6 OR 7 YEARS OLD. THEY PROBABLY WON'T REMEMBER A LOT OF IT.
ANYWAY, LIFE WAS DIFFERENT BACK 70 AND 80 YEARS. SOMETIMES IT SURPRISES THEM HOW WE LIVED. LIKE DIPPING PENS IN INKWELLS IN OUR SCHOOL DESKS. AND FOUNTAIN PENS BEING A REALLY BIG THING FOR GRADUATION GIFTS.
DEVONNE....I HOPE YOU FIND THOSE PAPERS YOU ARE HUNTING. YOUR HOUSE ISN'T HUGE SO EVENTUALLY I AM SURE THEY WILL SHOW UP.
GOOD FOR YOU GETTING PREPARED SO THE KIDS DON'T HAVE TO GO THRU HOOPS AFTER YOU ARE GONE. I, TOO, LIKE TO MAKE THINGS EASIER FOR MY OWN.
TRISH.....YOU SURE ARE BUSY ALL THE TIME. AND SO SORRY FOR ALL THE HEARTACHE WITH YOUR FAMILY SO EARLY IN THIS YEAR. THAT'S WAY TOO MUCH TO WALLOW THRU.
THAT'S IT LADIES. I MAY GET TO SEW A BIT TODAY SINCE I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER. I HATE THOSE OFF-BALANCE DAYS. I HAVE TO BE CAREFUL I DON'T FALL SO TAKE IT VERY CAREFULLY.
STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS. HUGS, QB S

Good Morning to everyone!! It is raining here, no huge surprise. I have no plans for the day so will likely just lay around. My legs are not happy today, so won't do much walking around. Haven't heard from Tracy yet today; I'm sure she's still getting ready for school.
Can't believe it's almost March already. Sending best wishes to everyone. Have a wonderful day, everyone, BJ.

Absolutely beautiful day! Sun is out and we're going on a picnic after Gary picks up the kids at school.
I've had two strange dreams the last two nights. The first one was about a doctor I didn't trust named Dr. Daniel Long. How do you come up with real names like that, lol? After doing some research, "we" found out he didn't have a medical license.
The dream last night was Billy surprising me with a spotless house when I got home from work. He was sitting at the island in the dark. When I went over to hug him, he wasn't there.
Trish, my goodness! That is a lot going on. Laptop needs charging so back later.

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK........
SINCE MY WIFE AND I WORKED IN THE SAME BUILDING, WE COMMUTED TOGETHER. ONE EVENING AT HOME, WE GOT INTO A BIG ARGUMENT THAT RESULTED IN US GOING TO BED ANGRY. THE NEXT MORNING, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK IN SILENCE, MY WIFE STARTED UP AGAIN.
"WHOA," I SAID. "WHEN WE ARE HOME, WE ARE 'MARRIED'. BUT DURING THE DAY, WE ARE 'WORK BUDDIES.'
THAT SHUT HER UP FOR A MOMENT, THEN SHE SAID,
"HEY, WORK BUDDY, LET ME TELL YOU WHAT MY JERK OF HUSBAND DID LAST NIGHT!"
WOW, ITS A WARM ONE TODAY. ALREADY 48 AND RISING. MY WINDOWS ARE OPEN FOR THE FRESH AIR. IT SHOULD MELT A LOT OF OUR SNOW PILES.
DEVONNE.......I HAVE WEIRD DREAMS AS WELL, SOME I REMEMBER FOR QUITE A WHILE AFTER WAKING, MANY THEY JUST FADE QUICKLY.
I'M FEELING ROCKY TODAY SO HAVE ALREADY CROSSED MY CHORES OFF TODAY'S LIST. I PLAN TO TAKE IT EASY INSTEAD. I MAY OR MAY NOT COOK. I MAY MAKE UP A BATCH OF TUNA FISH SO I CAN HAVE SANDWICHES INSTEAD. I'LL PLAY IT BY EAR. I HOPE TO FEEL OK ENOUGH TO GO TO BINGO TONITE.
I WATCHED THE TV SHOW 'THE BALDWINS' ABOUT ALEC BALDWIN AND HIS YOUNG FAMILY. IT DELVES INTO HIS LIFE AND ALSO MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE DURING MAKING A MOVIE WHEN A PROP g** WENT OFF. ITS ON TLC CHANNEL. HIS WIFE IS 26 YEARS YOUNGER THAN HIM AND THEY HAD 7 KIDS IN 11 YEARS OF MARRIAGE, THE OLDEST 10 AND THE YOUNGEST IN DIAPERS. HE HAS OCD SO HE'S ALWAYS CLEANING UP AROUND THEIR NEW YORK 5-BEDROOM APT. I USUALLY DON'T FOLLOW ANY OF THE REAL-LIFE SHOWS BUT THOUGHT THIS MIGHT BE INTERESTING. IT IS.
I GOT MY HOSPITAL TOTE BAG UPDATED. I HAVE ONE READY FOR ANYTIME I MAY NEED TO RUSH TO THE HOSPITAL. IT SITS HANDILY BEHIND A CHAIR NEAR MY TABLE. LAST TIME I WASN'T PREPARED. I UPDATED A FEW THINGS LIKE FRESH SPARE BATTERIES, FRESH COUGH DROPS, CASH FOR A CAB, AND ADDED MANY FACE MASKS AND A SPARE PHONE CHARGER ALONG WITH A COUPLE OF MYSTERY PAPERBACKS. ALSO NEW PHONE NUMBERS OF MANY FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN CASE I FORGET MY PHONE. ITS SOMETHING I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD DO. YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU MAY HAVE TO MAKE THAT 9-1-1 CALL.
THAT'S IT LADIES. HUGS FOR YOU ALL. QB S
