Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

Good Morning and a million thanks for all the birthday greetings.  Have had a lovely day so far.  Lots of good wishes from the family.  Frank, Jamie and Kendra have gone out for breakfast.  Tracy and I had ours here.  It is 44* here today and very bright and clear.  Love this kind of day.

I'm going to sign off, and thanks for all the good wishes.  It's a lovely day so far.  Signing off and  going to sit in my chair and rest for awhile.  BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

Afternoon y'all!

Mom will never walk again, she has lost her remaining independence.  The reduction did not work.  They tried again Monday, didn't work, did open reduction, too much damage from the dislocation.  Trish it was negligence!  I am not happy and am working with my BIL to get documents lined up for suing.  I am not lawyer happy or law suit happy but this is inexcusable!

Luke is coming home on Sunday and bringing stuff with him.  We are not sure how to break the lease, it's in legalese!  BIL is looking over it for us!

I'm ready to just run away!  But I cannot leave my mom high and dry!

I need to go research rehab facilities!

Later my Friends I love you all and if all this ever settles I will be back more often!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

Thank you all for the condolences on Bill's passing.  He was ready to be out of the pain.  Devonne, yes, we lived pretty close, about 20 minutes away.  He and Dean were often together working on projects or helping each other in some way.  Bill was one of those guys who "yelled and complained" the whole time they were working.  Too funny.  Dean just ignored him or told him to be quiet.    He will miss him for sure.

Sandra, it is great that you can share food with your neighbors.  Thank you for the daily laughs.  I laughed out loud at the leg rolling across the field.

Theresa, so sorry about your mom; I would check with a lawyer for sure.  So sorry about Luke losing his job.  I am so sad over that situation as I think the parks need MORE help, not less.

It was really cold today again, we had -10 wind chill.  However, the schools did not close near us because most of the students ride a bus.  The city schools closed because most of the kids walk.

Judy, Dean and I saw a big robin out the other day!  I said it was too soon for them to be here and now we have this awful arctic blast once again.  I feed "my birds" two or sometimes three times a day and they manage to eat it all....well what the squirrels don't eat.

Happy birthday BJ!!!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES......
1.  GRANDMOTHER OF EIGHT MAKES HOLE IN ONE.
2.  DEAF MUTE GETS NEW HEARING IN KILLING.

ITS A LOVELY SUNNY DAY BUT AGAIN, ONLY IN THE 20S.  BETTER THAN SNOW.

I TRY TO GET SOME LAUGHS SO WATCH A COUPLE OF FUNNY PROGRAMS LIKE FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS AND AMERICA'S FUNNIEST VIDEOS.  SOMETIMES ITS A REAL BELLY LAFF WHICH IS SOOOO GOOD FOR YOUR BODY.  I SKIP THE GROIN FALLS WHICH LOOK TOO PAINFUL FOR ANYONE TO LAFF AT.  I DON'T WATCH THE PRANK SHOWS EITHER.  NOT A FAN.

GOSH, EASTER IS APRIL 20TH THIS YEAR.  IT GIVES ME TIME TO GET MY EASTER DOOR HANGINGS DONE.
I HAD TO GET SOME CLOTHING READY FOR MY NEIGHBOR IN REHAB.   SOMEONE WAS TO PICK THEM UP.  THEY HAVEN'T SHOWN UP YET.  I CAN'T SEW WHEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE.  CAN'T HEAR THE KNOCK ON THE DOOR FROM MY BEDROOM AND THE MACHINE RUNNING SO HAD TO STOP SEWING.  FIGURED IT OUT.  DUH, PUT A NOTE ON THE DOOR AND LEAVE THE 3 BAGS BY MY DOOR FOR PICKUP.  I DOUBT ANYONE HERE WOULD STEAL THEM.  SO I CAN SEW A BIT MORE TODAY.  NOT MUCH SINCE ITS BINGO DAY AND I HAVE PIZZA TO BAKE AS WELL AND THAT HAS TO BE DONE EARLIER THAN NORMALLY.

NOTHING ELSE TO REPORT LADIES.  I WILL POST PICS IN MY BLOG OF THE TWO WHs I STARTED, MY EASTER EGG TREE AND MY FRIEND'S CARDINAL.  MY WATERING CAN OF TULIPS WITH BUNNY HAS NOT BEEN STARTED YET.  I STILL HAVE FABRIC TO CHOOSE AND PRESS.

STAY SAFE LADIES.  HUGS, QB S
PS.  I JUST UPDATED MY BLOG WITH PHOTOS.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

I finally have something different to say...  Yesterday afternoon while out and about with our appts., ML called assuming I was home.  She had signed up for a workshop at a rural potter's business to make a ceramic fairy house with her close friend, Claudia.  They got their wires crossed and C. had to babysit her grandson last evening.  So...Mom, who cares not a whit about fairy houses, (no offense, QB) was asked if I'd like to go in C.'s place.  Otherwise, long-suffering Bill would do it.  So, after two appts. and  a quick W-M stop while I stayed in the car,  we got home at 4:15, I still had to eat and she was coming to pick me up at 4:35 for this 3-hour class.  Fortunately, it was nearby my house.  Long story short:  we slowly got into the groove and enjoyed working with the clay and all the tools and, since they're rustic,  and don't need to be "perfect", we did okay.  All this and on about the coldest night of the winter, so far.  (Since I always talk about $$) it cost $85 apiece which ML had paid for and for which I would have NEVER spent that much .  She had already paid for Claudia's too, since she called it a mental health thing for herself.   Lastly, there's one more class next week after the first firing is done and  in which we'll paint our houses before they're fired again. Once in a while something rather inconvenient turns out to be a good thing.

Theresa, I can't imagine your angst and distress on both counts--your Mom and Luke.
Her situation is unconscionable and now unfixable.  I'm not a litigious person, either, but this is a time for that and more power to you.  As in  your long haul with relocating her, we here are all with you in spirit.  I hope her present mental condition softens the blow for her...

It's blindingly sunny on our snow cover.  My cousin in SC sent a picture of her blooming daffodils.  She does this to me every year as a joke, but I do enjoy seeing them and remembering that in due time, ours will bloom, too.

Cheryl, again, so sorry for your family's loss of Bill.  Does Dean have other siblings?
Funny about how he yelled and carried on when they worked together.  Glad you're near enough to help your SIL.  Hugs and

Time to close this and get started on supper.  Think it will be stuffed green pepper soup.  But the burger is still frozen so I need to use the microwave to thaw it.  See you later.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

Judy, playing with clay can be fun and therapeutic especially if it's supposed to look "rustic."  I'm glad you got to go.

Janet, it's cold here too!  28 degrees at the moment.

Theresa, I'm so sorry about your mom.  I agree that some legal action is warranted here.

For someone who asked, my new cordless iron is a Panasonic.  It's on Amazon.

Back to my sorta warm studio to make some more quilt blocks.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

THIS IS FROM READER'S DIGEST.......
MY FRIEND'S 6-YR-OLD, DANIELLE, HAD AN ANT FARM THAT SHE LOVED.  EVERY MORNING SHE'D SIT IN FRONT OF IT AND WATCH ITS COLONY SCURRY ABOUT.  SADLY, ONE DAY, HER MOTHER DISCOVERED THE ANTS HAD ALL DIED.  THAT NIGHT SHE BROKE THE UNHAPPY NEWS TO DANIELLE.  "I HATE TO TELL YOU THIS, BUT ALL YOUR ANTS DIED LAST NIGHT."
DANIELLE WAS DISTRAUGHT.  "ALL OF THEM?"
"YES, HONEY, ALL OF THEM."
"EVEN AUNT LORENA?"

SHOULD BE A WARM-ISH 30 DEGREES F TODAY.  IT WAS ONLY 1 WHEN I GOT UP AT 7ISH.

I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW THIN IS MY READER'S DIGEST.  I JUST ORDERED A SUBSCRIPTION AND IT CAME THIS MORNING.  THIN, THIN, THEN.  BUT STILL HAS MANY OF THE FEATURES I ENJOYED LIKE THE LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES JOKES.  STILL, I GUESS ITS WORTH THE TEN BUCKS FOR A YEAR.

I DID MY LAPS THIS MORNING, WORKED ON MY JIGSAW, GABBED WITH A COUPLE OF NEIGHBORS IN THE COMMON ROOM, AND JUST STARTED MY LAUNDRY.  I DIDN'T SLEEP WELL LAST NIGHT SO GOT UP AT 7:30 AND STAYED UP.  THE NIGHT BEFORE I WOKE ABOUT EVERY HOUR AND 10 MINUTES THRU THE NITE.  I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING.  MAYBE I NEED TO DRINK SOME WINE BEFORE I RETIRE.
I MADE THE PIZZA LAST NITE AND SHARED WITH 2 OTHERS.  I ALSO LOST 3 BUCKS AT BINGO.  BUT WE ALL HAD A GOOD TIME AND CHATTED AND GOT CAUGHT UP ON NEWS.  ITS WORTH THE LOSS.

JUDY.......MY DAU AND I USED TO TAKE CERAMICS CLASSES YEARS BACK.  I ENJOYED IT.  MADE SOME CUTE THINGS.  ITS AMAZING HOW YOU PAINT THE CLAY WITH A DRAB LIQUID, FIRE IT, AND IT COMES BACK IN LIVELY COLORS.  AMAZING.
AS TO YOUR FAIRIES, YOU KNOW ITS ONE OF MY FAVES ALONG WITH UNICORNS, BUTTERFLIES, CAROUSELS, DRAGONS, AND THE LIKE.

I LOOKED OUTDOORS AND THE GARDEN PATHWAY IS SHOVELED WITH ABOUT 18 INCHE SIDES OF SNOW ALONG THE PATH.  I DIDN'T REALIZE WE'D GOTTEN AS MUCH.  OUR GARDEN IS BURIED.

MY DAY WILL INCLUDE MORE SEWING.  I WORKED ON A FEW EASTER EGGS YESTERDAY.  MICHELE'S FRIEND CAME FOR HER CLOTHES.  HE WAS SO GLAD I HAD ALREADY PACKED THEM SINCE HE HAD VISIONS OF DIGGING THRU HER FEMALE STUFF AND WAS NOT HAPPY.  HE THANKED ME PROFUSELY.  MICHELE HAS MORE PROBLEMS THAN SHE TOLD ME.  SHE HAS A HEART INFECTION AND HAS A VALVE PROBLEM ALSO.  SHE SUFFERED A STROKE WHICH IS WHY SHE HAD SOME SLURRED SPEECH BEFORE HEADING TO THE HOSPITAL ORIGINALLY.  THEY FOUND OUT A LOT AND ITS NOT GOOD.  SHE TELLS ME SHE WILL BE HOME MARCH 25TH.  I HOPE SO.  AND ON THE ROAD TO WELLNESS BY THAT TIME AS WELL.  CROSSING MY FINGERS FOR HER.  PLEASE PUT HER ON YOUR PRAYER LISTS.

THAT'S IT LADIES.  I HAVE TO GET HOPPING.  MY LAUNDRY IS CALLING ME.
STAY SAFE.  HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

Good morning everyone. We have light snow flurries and 25 degrees. In the 50's this weekend and 60's on Monday.

I did a little sewing yesterday on the embroidered Christmas blocks I finished but never put together. First time in my sewing room since last March (due to back pain). It really felt good. Thanks, Sandra, for motivating me!

Judy, it's good you tried something different. The time with ML is priceless.

Theresa, so very sorry what happened to your Mom. Good luck in finding a better place.

Sandra, I will definitely add Michelle to my prayer list.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

Another bright sunny, very cold, home day.  We, who never move our furniture around, swapped two of our 3 recliners.  They are identical Lazy Boys, his, mahogany-colored and mine, taupe.  But I've sat in Mom's lift chair for the past 5 yrs.  and while his looks okay, it's getting uncomfortable.  It is now in the mostly unused chair spot.  Then, we did a little DIY project.  Using some of his leather dye, we worked together and covered the spots where the mahogany dye had worn off and are pleased with the results.  I told him people pay a lot of money for 1920s leather club chairs that have that worn look, but he wasn't buying it.

Oh joy, after what seemed like endless football, now there are going to be endless basketball games.  One is on right now.  At least I understand basketball.  And he did go upstairs for awhile this morning.  Otherwise, he's camped in THAT chair all day.  I'm grumbling to you because I can't to him.  I do have a sewing room upstairs that I haven't used for a long time and it's a mess, but I think I'll just have to get it ready and go up there and keep still down here... and pray for an early spring!

QB, sorry you didn't sleep well last night.  It surely makes a big difference when we're older.
I looked at your wall hanging starts on your blog,  As usual, they're going to be great.  I agree with not wanting to be paid for something and it turning into a "headache" for you.
This sounds self-serving but years ago, I turned down my friend, Carol (& Albert) who saw the chair covers I made for my dining chairs from an old white bedspread and asked me to make her some.   I knew I would over-think it and wouldn't sleep  as simple as the job should be.  I know it hurt her feelings, but just like the small quilt guild I briefly joined  and quit, because  all they did was vie with each other for how many charity things they could get done in a month, it wasn't for me.  I used my still-working husband and my elderly dog as excuses for not being able to keep coming.  Now you all know the truth about me!

Devonne, congrats for being able to sew again.  Are these the blocks for Gary & Emily's quilt?
Do the dogs pester you when you sew?

Off to do kitchen work.  Dishes need to go into dishwasher.  I'm on for making dessert for our small group tomorrow.  Will be a chocolate fudge cake with some kind of white icing.   Always in a 9 x 13 pan.  I haven't made a layer cake in years.  Take care.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

Sandra, I still order the Reader's Digest too.  Yes, it sure is much thinner these days, but like you, I love to read it.  I especially like that is NOT about famous people.  I used to like the People magazine but these days it is all about Hollywood stars; not my thing for sure.

Judy, my mother in law used to do the ceramic classes and once she convinced Dean to go along when he was about 20 years old.   Boy was he sorry.  All the old ladies gushed over him.   He told his mom, never again.  Your cake sounds delicious.  I don't make layer cakes either, always in a 9 x 13 pan too.  Actually Dean's favorite is a Texas Sheet Cake and it is made in a cookie sheet pan and is pretty thin.  He loves the frosting, not cake so much.

The calling hours for Bill is this evening and I am not looking forward to it.  I get very emotional as soon as I step into a funeral home.  That smell !!!!  I have a keen sense of smell and those flowers get to me.

Carol, wow!! that is chilly for Houston.   It is still really cold (about 6 degrees here) but is supposed to reach 30 tomorrow and that will be a welcome change.  Those folks in Kentucky and  West Virginia who are dealing with that massive flooding have a mess.  I will take the cold.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

SCHOOL EXCUSES........
PLEASE EXCUSE ROLAND FROM P.E. FOR A FEW DAYS.  YESTERDAY HE FELL OUT OF A TREE AND MISPLACED HIS HIP.

ANOTHER SUNNY AND COLD DAY FOR ME.  I DO NOT HAVE TO GO OUT SO ITS FINE WITH ME.

I DID MY LAPS ALREADY.  SLEPT WELL LAST NITE SO THAT'S A GOOD THING.  I DON'T HAVE TO GO OUT IN THE COLD SO ANOTHER GOOD THING.
I WILL BE MAKING THE CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP WITH EGG NOODLES.  I NEVER MADE IT BEFORE BUT IT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD.  I HOPE IT GOES OVER WELL WITH FRIENDS AND MY SON.  I LIKE MAKING SOUPS SO NEED ANOTHER ON MY LIST.

I SEWED YESTERDAY AND BROKE A WHEEL ON MY CHAIR.  THANK GOODNESS I NEVER FELL.  THAT WAS A SURPRISE.  THEN I ALSO MADE AN ERROR IN MY EGG WH.  I SNIPPED A BIT OF BACKGROUND MATERIAL ALONGSIDE AN EGG.  I HAVE A FEW IDEAS TO FIX IT SO NO ONE WILL NO ITS THERE BUT ME.  EITHER A FAIRY OR A BUTTERFLY.  I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO MAKE BOWS ON EACH EGG TOP AS THO THEY WERE TIED TO THE TREE.  I SHALL SEE HOW THOSE IDEAS COME ALONG.  ONE NEVER KNOWS HOW THIS PROJECT WILL LOOK IN THE END.  ITS ALWAYS A MYSTERY.

I NEED TO EMAIL MY GROCERY LIST TO MY SON WHO WILL BE SHOPPING FOR ME TOMORROW.  ITS QUITE LONG AND I HOPE HE CAN GET IT ALL.  I NOTICED THAT EGGS WENT UP TO 4.99 A DOZEN AT MY GROCERY STORE.  OTHER THINGS ARE GOING UP LITTLE BY LITTLE AS WELL BUT THEN MY STORE HAS SOME NICE SALES SO IT ALL EVENS OUT.

I WISH YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS FROM ME TO YOU.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16 ~ SAT FEBRUARY 22

Judy, grumble away, lol. We "listen," lol. The quilt blocks were initially for G&E. I don't have enough blocks so it will be a wall hanging. I have a quilt I'll start on after I finish this wall hanging and will give it to them. All the pattern pieces were cut out years ago...kinda embarrassed to admit that, lol.

Caleb won a math award at school. All the students who won had to make a little speech, to be videoed. Gary said sweat was pouring down Caleb's face and his chest was hurting. He called Hannah who met G at the ER. It was a panic attack! He's in the 2nd grade and only 7 years old. It just broke my heart. I've never had one, but I imagine he was really scared.

Cheryl, thinking of you and Dean today. When I went to Eula's funeral in 2015, I asked my nephew if he would be upset if I didn't go to the cemetery. The funeral home was almost too much for me. I'm so glad we chose cremation and no memorial service.
