Good Morning. It's softly sunny here, but cold. Yesterday it was 52* and brightly sunny when we left for Howard's cardio appt. It was a 2 1/2 hour wait and when we left it was after 5 getting dark, and very foggy, but we got home just before it was totally dark. So...I have called the neurologist and was fortunately able to change his Thurs. appt. from 3 pm to 9:30 am. Early for me, but "beggars can't be choosers". I feel like I'm on a merry-go-round all the time!
Devonne, your suggestion that he might be dehydrated gave me a ironic laugh. One of Howard's issues always is that he drinks too much every day. He was told once long ago by a Dr. that drinking a lot would prevent his ever getting kidney stones. He's overdone it and has been told by the cardio to cut back by half. He's tried, but it's such a habit. Never, ever any alcohol though since his parents were alcoholics.
Theresa, you must feel like you're punching air. And being a nurse yourself makes it worse.
Bless you for not blowing your top after all these fails with your Mom. And she is more than blessed having a daughter like you advocating for her.
Need to go. He's prowling around looking for his breakfast. I almost always make it and today's no different. Have a good day, each of you in your own way.

Gary, Emily and Hannah are all sick. Gary has had a fever for 2 days. Hannah has been sick over a week so I'm sure he and Emily got it from her. She went to Immediate Care, but it wasn't "immediate." After 2 hours, she still hadn't been seen so she left.
I haven't balanced a checkbook in years. I haven't had a "checkbook" in many years. I do go online and check my activity and my balance. This is when I saw a $200 charge for a limousine and taxis, lol. Judy, yes, you need to learn it yourself and the sooner, the better.
Cheryl, that's great news about your A1C and the weight loss. Keep up the good work!
Judy, 9:30 is too early for me too. I saw an appt. had been scheduled for me at 8:15 at the cancer center. They didn't even ask...just saw it in My Chart. It had to be canceled anyway.
Ordered my smaller table and 4 chairs from Amazon. Will be here February 14th.
Beautiful here today...72 degrees. Saw Carol might be in the 80's

Afternoon all, it's Wednesday afternoon here, and it's HOT , will be all week, and I dislike it. Dean went back to school today, 2nd last year, he will be finished by October next year, can't believe it, his school life has flown by.
SANDRA that last one applies to me LOL I am glad your lady brings you books, I was thinking it was a library service, but maybe it's more a community service, not from a library?? I have so many books I can't decide what to start next. I will get a pic of my MINI jigsaw puzzle, Julie is trying to drive me insane, there are 1000 pieces and they are less than 1/2", and so many similar colours, it's going to take quite a while, at least it's only small at 16 1/2" by 11". Took me a long time just to get the edges done
CHERYL good for you, makes you feel so much better when you get a little off, my weight has blown out, I need to lose about 10lbs (I'll be happy with 6 LOL ), I have signed up for a Detox program, all about clean eating and doing yoga and being 'mindful' I really need it, I have been snacking and I have gained too much.
JANET too funny, we don't have to do taxes any more, since we retired we don't earn so we don't need to. I used to do ours, then it got complicated when I was using the car to work, so we had an accountant. I used to keep everything handy, then just drop to him, easy and done quickly.
DEVONNE I haven't used a check book in years, actually they don't exist in this country anymore, haven't for quite a long time, we use direct debit, or pay online or you can also pay with cash at our post offices. Most of our bills are directly debited from the sender, land rates, electricity etc. They email first with the date and amount so you know in advance. And our pension goes straight to our account too. Makes life easy, and also very easy for older people, they can set it up to be directly paid OR they can go to the PO and pay in cash. Our neighbours do that, I don't know why but they just don't want to use credit cards. When they go overseas they give us wads of cash to pay their bills when they arrive as we collect the mail for them.
INDY that is an early start, I have quite a few early mornings, but will often have breakfast later, as I just can't eat too early. I like my late breakfast, you are good, getting his breakfast, and HE is good drinking enough water, most men don't seem to, I know W doesn't, and he often gets cramps, I keep reminding him, but he thinks a small glass every so often is enough. We need to get them to give half their mindsets to each other LOL
I have been pottering with some blocks, plus tidying up. W will get Dean, we have told him to wait in the grounds as one of us will come a bit late, it will be bedlam with all the new kids getting picked up, wait 10 mins and most will have gone. I'm sure they will make a stop at McDs on the way home for cold drinks. Did you know that McDs will give you a small cup of cold water (free) if you ask, I didn't know that, Dean told me, pretty sure that will be asked for today LOL
I will start some threads tonight after you are all asleep so I don't mess up posts

I HAVE SOME TRAGIC FAMILY NEWS TO SHARE WITH YOU. I HAD TO WAIT TIL THE PERSON WAS ARRESTED FOR THIS VILE DEED.
MY ONLY NIECE'S ONLY CHILD, A SON, BRANDON, WAS SH.OT AND KIL.LED THURSDAY BY HER EX-GIRLFRIEND, THE MOTHER OF HIS 1 YEAR OLD SON. SHE WAS ARRESTED LAST NITE. BRANDON WAS ONLY 31. HE HAD A PROTECTION ORDER AGAINST HER BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP HER. NOW THAT BABY HAD NEITHER FATHER NOR WILL HE HAVE A MOTHER.
BRANDON WAS THE LOVE OF MY NIECE'S LIFE. SUCH A TRAGIC LOSS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY.
I ALWAYS SAID THAT THE INCESSANT HEAT OF FLORIDA MADE SOME PEOPLE GO CRAZY. MURDER IS A BY-WORD DOWN THERE. WHEN I LIVED IN THE PALM BEACH AREA THERE SEEMED TO BE 1 MURDER EVERY DAY OR TWO. PEOPLE GET ANGRY AND DO TERRIBLE THINGS.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL MY FRIENDS.

Good Morning to everyone! It is very cold this morning, 28*!! No sign of any sun, but lots of frost!! I'm so tired of early morning phone calls. I just hang up on them, but SO many!!!
I can't believe that two weeks from today, I will turn 85!! Hard to believe. That's if I make it that long!!! I probably will, I don't do anything at all during the day. Just lazy and worn out. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, Quiltbea!! Such a terrible thing to have happen. I'll remember them in my prayers.
I'm going to sign off now, can't think of anything else to say, BJ.

Sandra- that’s terrible news.
Yesterday the temp here was in the 60’s. We sat out on the deck watching the birds. Just like a couple of old people. lol
Northern VA is supposed to get an ice storm tonight into late Thursday. Hope it stays north of us.
My son texted my DH and told him that they bought my our grandson a car. He doesn’t even have a license yet, NY makes you wait for 6 mos after getting your permit before you can even take the test, and you have to have completed X number of behind the wheel driving and submit that. Anyway they ordered him a 2025 Toyota SUV. Nice to have money. I’m half expecting them to ask DH for money towards it. I already told DH NO WAY.
Off to make chocolate chip pumpkin cake.

Sandra, such a sad tragedy, especially for the child. So many senseless crimes.
I got a pollen alert...for February?? These warm days are tricking Mother Nature.
Today I had big plans and even did a drawing of how I want to change things. These big plans are still ongoing and will be for a few more days. I am reorganizing my entire kitchen and pantry. I don't have the energy to do things I used to do, so I quit, took a nap, a long warm bath and cut my hair. There's always tomorrow, right?

Sandra, so sorry for that terrible news. Such a tragedy.
Janet, the new drivers have to wait 6 months here in Ohio too, plus take a driving course and have a certain amount of driving hours before they can take the actual driving license test.
Devonne, you are just the opposite of me on changing things in the house. Once I have them in place I do not like to change Dean said the other day, perhaps it is time for new curtains in the bedroom since the ones we have are about 8-10 years old. He said he could see some fading from the sun.
OK, I will order some new ones. However, my furniture stays in the same place once it is put there.
We are supposed to get an ice storm overnight too. It is starting to lightly rain as I type this. Hopefully it will not get too bad for the morning drivers.

Oh SANDRA that is so very sad, I am so sorry that has happened in your family, tragic and that poor little one - will he be able to be cared for by family? I think that we are having similar violence here at the moment, so many reports of attacks, I think you may be right, rage builds up with the heat, and we have had lot of that lately. I wish peace for you, and hope you can try to rest.
CHERYL I am a bit like DEVONNE too, I used to move things around all the time, not so much now though. Lots of our electronics are where they will stay so the outlets won't be moving again. I used to change smooch the Mr said he never knew what he was coming home too LOL
DEVONNE we haven't got pollen, but we do have March Flies (horse flies ) and I got bit today, it's not too bad so far, usually I have a terrible reaction, this one looks little, so maybe a baby and didn't get a big bite LOL
JANET that is quite a lot of car for a new driver, those things are big and heavy. They bought John a (used) Toyota Corolla 10 yrs old for his first car, pretty solid and small enough for him to manoeuvre easily. They need a lot of experience for the bigger cars. We also have the kids get their Ls from age 16, and they must have 120 hours in a log book driving time before they can get their licence at minimum 17. Good experience, it does take quite a while to get those 120 hours.
BJ I hope you will be around for any years yet, you are doing well!!
STRINGS having breakfast out is fun sometimes, we had Mothers Day breakfast one year, it was nice, we don't usually go out for breakfast though, we both head out in different directions.
I got a package today of fabric I ordered online, It feels nice, the colours are not what I would have picked normally but it's for a new quilt design with Julie, and this was 1/2 price, so I'll make it work. I still need more, but this was 2 and 1+1/2 yds so the biggest 2 pieces, the others are only 1/2 yds or so.
Time for me to quit, and get ready for bed, it's been another hot day here, and more to come tomorrow. I have been doing the jigsaw puzzle, it's brutal, about 1/2 way now, and it will take a lot longer. I will get a pic tomorrow, it's dark now and it doesn't show up with the lights on it.

GOOD MORNING!

Record high temps in Houston this week. Two weeks ago the entire city shut down for a snow day. Arctic air due in two weeks. I do not like the roller coaster.
Sandra, my deepest sympathies. How tragic for everyone.
Devonne, I'm rearranging my bedroom; I actually sat down here for a bit of a break with my dear friends. I hate rearranging, so maybe I should have you come visit.
Okay, back to figuring out how to make the new shelves work with the old ones. I only have an hour or so before I have to get ready for school. This gig isn't going to last much longer because the teacher isn't going to last much longer!

ADVERTISING ERRORS......
1. DINNER SPECIAL - TURKEY $2.35; CHICKEN OR BEEF $2.25; CHILDREN $2.00.
2. FOR SALE: ANTIQUE DESK SUITABLE FOR LADY WITH THICK LEGS AND LARGE DRAWERS.
WE ARE GETTING THE FIRST OF OUR SNOW. EXPECTING 5 TO 8 INCHES.
I REALLY MISS MY DH. HE WAS A TOUGH EX-MARINE BUT HE HAD COLOR SENSE. HE HELPED ME WITH MY QUILTS CHOOSING FABRICS. HE ALSO WAS THE ONE THAT LOVED CHANGING AROUND OUR ROOMS. SOMETIMES I WOULD COME HOME FROM WORK (HE WORKED NIGHTS, ME DAYS) AND THE FURNITURE WOULD BE IN DIFFERENT PLACES. AND HE DIDN'T MIND HELPING WITH THE HOUSEWORK AFTER HE REALIZED HE SHOULD IF WE BOTH WORKED. HE WAS SUCH A BIG HELP. MISS HIM A LOT.
I'M IN A QUANDRY. I FOUND AN E-Z CASSEROLE I WANT TO TRY BUT AM WORRIED ABOUT WHETHER THE POWER WILL GO OUT. SNOW ON THE TREES MEANS LIMBS FALLING ON WIRES.
ITS ALSO MY WEEKEND TO COOK FOR MY SON WHO IS GOING TO GET MY GROCERIES ON SATURDAY. WHAT A DILEMMA.
I ALSO WANT TO MAKE MY TATER TOT CASSY AND MAYBE SOME VEGGIE BEEF SOUP THIS WEEKEND. A LOT OF COOKING IN MY FUTURE.
I WON $4 AT BINGO LAST NITE SO THAT WAS A GOOD NITE. ALSO THE GALS WERE SUCH A FUN GROUP. WE HAD OUR LAFFS.
THANK YOU LADIES FOR THE KIND THOUGHTS ABOUT MY FAMILY TRAGEDY. AS FOR THE INFANT, I KNOW NOT WHERE HE WILL END UP. HE WAS TAKEN HOME BY HER SIDE OF THE FAMILY AFTER THE POLICE CAME TO ARREST HIS MOM. SINCE THEY WEREN'T MARRIED, I THINK HER SIDE HAS PREFERENCE.
THE TREES ARE LOOKING MIGHT FINE RIGHT NOW WITH THEIR LAYER OF WHITE. I HOPE IT STOPS SOON.
STAY SAFE. HUGS, QB S

Good Morning to everyone!!! We have about 3" of snow, not loving it!!! But it is pretty outside. It is cold, about 32*!! I really don't have a thing to say this morning, I'm a little chilly here inside, but have a warm top on, so that helps.
Sending best wishes to everyone, hope you all have a nice day, BJ.

Carol, I didn't realize you were still working at school and the ballpark too? What happened to your retirement days, lol? You certainly are having roller coaster weather.
Sandra, congrats on the bingo win and I hope your power stays on!
I have a good recipe for Mexican cheese dip (the white cheese dip at mexican restaurants). If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll post it.
Cheryl, that is so funny! I like to change drapes every 2 or 3 years just to get a different color. Same with comforters. Now I'm content with a white comforter and a different quilt on top. I don't move heavy furniture anymore. I want to get an accent chair for my living room, but I'm trying to think of where in the world would I put it, lol.
This kitchen reorganizing is going very slow. My energy gets zapped quickly, so I'm taking my time.

Well, for the first time in over 10 year, I’m sick. It started as a sore throat and ear ache…then headache. Chills through the evening, difficulty swallowing. Sometime during the night I woke up in a sweat. Slept into the late morning. By afternoon (about 24 hrs later) I was better. Just a not quite sore throat and a headache. Woke up this morning with a cough but feeling better. I guess I’ll have to stop saying I’m never sick. lol
Cheryl- I’m like you, opposite from Devonne. I never redecorate, in fact DH picked out and placed all the furniture m area rugs, etc. Occasionally, he’ll change something. Frankly, I don’t care….as long as he stays away from my studio.

FROM YOGI BERRA.......
1. THE SCENE IS DULL. TELL HIM TO PUT MORE LIFE INTO HIS DYING.
2. THIS BOOK HAS TOO MUCH PLOT AND NOT ENOUGH STORY.
STORM IS OVER TIL NEXT TIME, WHICH WILL BE SUNDAY THEY TELL US. IT LOOKS LIKE 5 OR 6 INCHES FOR US. ROADS ARE CLEARED. TEMPS SHOULD HIT 30 TODAY AND SUNNY. WE NEVER LOST POWER.
I HAVE COOKING TO DO TODAY SINCE ITS SON'S DAY TO SHOP ON SATURDAY. YOU KNOW I SEND HIM HOME WITH FOOD FOR THE WEEKEND. LUCKY ME HIS WIFE DOES NOT MIND.
WORKED ON JIGSAW AGAIN THIS MORNING. WILL FINISH MY LAPS WHEN I'M DONE HERE. HAD APPLESAUCE AND APPLE JUICE FOR BREAKFAST.
MADE MILD CHILI LAST NITE. I HAVE ENOUGH FOR LEFTOVERS.
I NEED TO DO A BIT OF CLEANING TODAY. HAVE BEEN PUTTING IT OFF SINCE NOT FEELING GREAT. THE WOBBLIES ARE NOT A TIME TO SCRUB COUNTERS AND APPLIANCES. THE WORST THING I NEED IS TO FALL. I AM CAREFUL ABOUT THINGS LIKE THAT.
MY NEIGHBOR MICHELE IS STILL IN MASS. GENERAL. NOW THEY ARE FINDING FAULT WITH ONE OF HER HEART VALVES. ITS GOOD THEY ARE CHECKING INTO EVERYTHING. THEY ARE THE HOSPITAL TO GO TO WHEN A SERIOUS AILMENT IS FOUND. THEY ARE GREAT FIXERS.
THAT'S IT FROM ME. HUGS LADIES. QB S
