Gosh, this year is already starting to fly by, seems like only a couple days since New years LOL
DEVONNE I did too tonight, we had "hunt and eat" it's actually "Catch and K** " but doesn't nice, meaning what you can find is yours to eat LOL
SANDRA I did have to think about that one too lOL I kept reading it wrong, or that's what I am telling myself.
JANET sorry your retreat is not going to be on for you, know you were looking forward to it, hope you can have a mini retreat at home!
INDY hope you and H are OK, and he's doing well (((hugs))))
I did lots and lots of cleaning today, all the outside patios, and stairs, laundry and decluttered the kitchen benches, feels really good. Now I just need to set the canisters of bug spray when everyone is out, and the bug spray will do it's thing IN the house, I'll get someone to do all the outside, I am so sick of spider webs, they are everywhere. the Mr wants to NOT spray, he thinks they keep the mosquitos away, well they might, but I don't want to keep walking into wispy webs !!!
My family have finally decided to have the group get together next Sunday, nothing booked, but they want to go to a pub not too far away. It's won't go well, we can't all sit together, and I've no idea how will all work, 3 people have booked tables of 10 each, I should too I suppose, might do that tomorrow, really don't care if we can't get into the pub at this point! My brothers family total 35, ours (with sis) is 14, she has booked a table and 2 of my brothers girls also. No idea where/how everyone will join up LOL will be big messy mixup, I don't want to be stuck with my nieces son/dil and HER mum, who goes everywhere with them, even though it's nothing to do with her.
I am the only one booked for yoga tomorrow, so I think it will be cancelled if no one else books. With lots of cleaning done already, I only need to do the bathrooms tomorrow, already did the wood floors today.
We had a huge lightning strike a few hours ago, thought it hit next door, turns out it did strike the ground about 200yds up the road, frightened the heck out of me LOL No damage that I can see, lots saying they have no internet or cable tv. We seem to be OK, at least internet, tv isn't on.

Another cold overnight ….supposed to get about freezing today but anything that melts will surely freeze again. 🥶😭.

ITS NICE TO SEE SOME OF THE MYSTERY SERIES FINALLY COMING BACK. AND A FEW NEW SHOWS ON THE MAIN CHANNELS. I WILL TRY WATCHING A FEW TO SEE IF I LIKE THEM.
JANET.......AROUND HERE IN GOOD OLD VACATIONLAND, WE HATE SEEING THE MASSACHUSETTS DRIVERS ON OUR ROADS. WE ARE SURE THEY NEVER LEARNED HOW TO DRIVE.

First, let me apologize for not posting til now. It's been quite the few days...but we're doing okay.
Howard stayed in the hospital for 2 days/nights because he was running a low grade fever even though he tested neg. for flu, COVID and RSV. It was gone by Wed. a.m. so he was dismissed at 1 p.m. on Wed. with the ubiquitous DX. of "some kind of virus". As I said before, his presenting symptoms were the same as with his stroke, 2 yrs. ago--stabbing headache over his rt. eye and some confusion. Wed. night at home, he c/o of another headache and his BP was very high so I gave him his two BP meds even tho instructions were to begin his reg. meds on Thurs. am. I called his cardio that morning and he put him on another Losartan in the evening and added a diuretic and told me I'd done the right thing, twice! Not tooting my own horn but was unsure of what to do about that high pressure. As expected, his pressures have come down to normal. He's had a few headaches and some hallucinations in the hospital (he didn't tell them) and more everyday at home. When he told me that, I called his neurologist who wasn't in on Friday but I'm to call back in the morning for one of the two appts. he has available this week. H. has thankfully been very compliant, wanting to follow-up with these doctors. As you know, he can be belligerent sometimes.
Thank you all for remembering us in your prayers. The comeraderie and love in our group is so comforting and appreciated.

Reading and catching up is just like doing the same with family when you've been away. And it felt like being back to normal. The unknown that accompanies any hospital visit is the worst.
Devonne, I was so glad to see the pics of the prayer shawl. As always, Carol thinks of what to do, offers to do it and we join in where we can. It's so beautiful and Gracie, by her pleased expression, obviously thinks so, too...I just know she does! Keep getting better...
Janet, sorry about the bad things, no power, ice and for the good things--your DH driving you around when you couldn't do it. As you know, we fuss some here, too, but we're pulling together and being nice through this trauma. Hope you can be not too disappointed over giving up the retreat.
Linda, hope you can keep Darrell down and safe. It's so hard for men to give up their independence, I know, because we've had a few skirmishes here, too. Nothing is 100%...
Carol, your dolls are incredible. Thanks for showing us. I'm always intrigued by your great big bookcases full of books. Would love to browse the shelves! Just kidding...I won't be ringing your doorbell anytime soon!
I have good thoughts for everyone, but will stop with those above for now. Always something calling my name and some things have suffered around here. Take care and much love.

Carol- your dolls are fantastic.
Although the snow and ice on the grass melted somewhat, the driveway which is in the shade didn’t really. Tonight is supposed to be very cold and anything that melted today will freeze. Tomorrow the same thing but even colder at night.
I have to cancel my haircut (again) and my chiropractor for tomorrow too.
I can’t expect DH to take a chance on the driveway for something like that.
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate winter, snow, ice and the cold?
😩

Good Morning to everyone!! I'm not feeling too bright this morning but will struggle on! It is only 32* here this morning, just waiting for Gloria to arrive and start cleaning.
I'm not able to write much, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

I finally finished watching Jimmy Carter's funeral. He was the only president from Georgia, and it's amazing what he did after he left office. He and Rosalyn were married 77 years. An extraordinary life they had.
Judy, Howard sounds like Billy was...not telling the doctors everything! Gary is the same way. Prayers and love he continues to improve.
I moved back to my bed 3 nights ago. The first night was restless, but I've slept great the last two nights. Last night I was able to sleep on my side.
Emily said she was going to ask her manager if she could work 4 day weeks during the 6 weeks of my radiation. Wasn't that sweet of her? I told her it's not necessary, as the visits won't be long. She knows I only have sons and it's different not having a daughter to share breast info with, lol.
I just saw there's another brutally cold winter storm headed in over the weekend. Thank goodness Georgia wasn't in the circled area!

MY PLANS ARE MINIMAL AND THE SAME OLD SAME OLD. SO I WONT REPEAT THEM.
I AM FEELING PRETTY GOOD AND WILL BE COOKING SOUP TODAY. I HAVE A HANKERING FOR SOME NICE CHICKEN RICE SOUP.

Hello everyone from the northland! Sorry some of you are experiencing bad weather. We got about 6" of fluffy snow over the weekend so now it is a white wonderland. Beautiful!! The temps??? Today's windchill was -32 high temp was -2. It will warm up to the 30's for a couple of days this week.
Not much going on with me but I enjoy reading all that is happening with you.
Devonne, so good that you are doing so much better.
Sandra, I enjoy your daily funnies. I have to read some of them twice to make sure I get it also.
Janet, I hope things melt so you can get to your retreat. If not, lock yourself in your room and enjoy.
Offline
SANDRA same old, same old here too!! I do love your funnies each day, last few were good!!
INDY hope things are improving with your guy, they don't always tell the Drs what they should, hopefully he's on the mend ((((hugs)))) It must have been very worrying for you !
DEVONNE getting back to your own bed would be hard after being out of it, it does take me a while to get used to a new bed, hard when we travel, I just get used to a new place (after a few days ) and we move on, even harder when it's one night stops, I get pretty tired LOL
JANET hope the weather improves for you, horrid time you are having with that snow in the south, like us when it rains, LOL Sydneysiders don't drive well in the rain, ridiculous because we've had our share and then some lately LOL
PATTY good to hear from you, your snow sounds pretty, WOW that is cold, I have trouble with the heat, do't know which is worse, cold or hot LOL
Hoping that THERESA is going OK with mum and her broken leg, I'm sure it's been difficult for her.
I am tired tonight, training this morning, and it was so humid, plus I set those insect sprays to go off in the house, and you have to stay out for 2 hours, so I had to go get a late breakfast till it was time to return, I felt pretty grubby and sweaty so I ended up in McDonalds, I didn't feel like the cafe would be a good look for me, I fitted right in at McDs LOL
It's still warm and humid now, and almost bedtime, still haven't heard about my overlocker, so I might call them tomorrow, see how far down the list I am!
I really would like it by next Monday if I can, class for the top is Wednesday, so I can give it a try before I use it.
See you later.

THE REV. MERRIWETHER SPOKE BRIEFLY, MUCH TO THE DELIGHT OF THE AUDIENCE.
ANOTHER COLD BUT SUNNY DAY. I LIKE THE CHURCH BULLETIN FUNNIES. THEY ARE SHORT AND SWEET.
TRISH......I FORGOT TO MENTION EARLIER THAT WATER ON THE ROADS IS CALLED HYDROPLANING HERE. VERY DANGEROUS SINCE ITS SO EASY TO LOSE CONTROL OF YOUR CAR.
JUDY.......A LOT ON YOUR PLATE RIGHT NOW. I HOPE YOUR DH IS DOING MUCH BETTER.
JANET.......MORE ICE. STAY INDOORS.
PATTY.......NICE OF YOU TO DROP IN AND GIVE US AN UPDATE. WE LIKE TO HEAR FROM EVERYONE, BEING THE NOSEY PARKERS THAT WE ARE.
I HAVE A LOAD OF LAUNDRY STARTED, TOOK OUT MY RECYLCES, PICKED UP MAIL FOR A LAID-UP NEIGHBOR, AND WENT THRU MY RECIPES FOR SOMETHING TO MAKE WITH GROUND BEEF WHICH I TOOK OUT TO DEFROST. I'M THINKING A SAUCY CHEESY NOODLE CASSEROLE SO I CAN FEED A FEW OTHERS HERE THAT ARE ON THE MEND.
I STILL HAVE LEFTOVERS FROM THE POT OF CHICKEN RICE SOUP I MADE LAST NITE. THE CASSY CAN WAIT TIL WED.
NOTHING ELSE SPECIAL HAPPENING HERE. I STAY INDOORS BUT TRY TO DO MY LAPS UP AND DOWN THE HALLS TO KEEP MY MOVING.
HAVE A NICE DAY. HUGS, QB S

BRRR! It is COLD! Minus 9 wind chill, so not as cold as where Patty lives. One more degree colder and schools would have been cancelled. (Then the kids go out to snowboard! )
I did three loads of laundry today. My dryer is on it's last leg, I think. Dean took it apart and put in a new belt a couple of months ago but it is still making a "thumping" noise. Dean says he must not have gotten the barrel on strait. It is 25 years old, so it was a good one.
Amelia and Gabriel have been spending the days and nights with us while Aaron is in Houston (not Galveston as I first posted). Katie leaves for work at 6:30 a.m., so she cannot take the kids to school or pick them up on time, so we are doing it. We may take them home after school today so they can spend a little time there before bedtime. Aaron comes home tomorrow night so they will be home then. He said his work training is boring and is ready to come home. He does not drink or go to bars and that is what most of the other guys/workers are doing after training. Aaron says he is watching movies or looking out of his window since it is a nice view of Houston.
Trish, I always have a "you find it, you can eat it day" every so often. Dean and I do it a lot since we do use up our leftovers. but the grandkids are not used to that. I am making hamburgers and salad and garlic mashed potatoes for supper today. The hamburger was in the freezer, so I hope it is not freezer burnt. It looks ok.
I just finished a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. Wowee, it was difficult as it took me all week to get it done.
I had my annual physical exam yesterday and my doctor's office was without a lab worker, so no blood work done. She did re-fill my medications but said I had to go to another lab to get the bloodwork done. My Aetna insurance says after January 22, so I will go then. This is the second time they do not have a lab worker. Frustrating for sure.
Judy, prayers for Howard and for you; take care of yourself.
Janet, it seems you did not move far enough south! I don't love the cold but have lived in the north all my life, so I drive when necessary even in the snow. When we did move, it was to Wyoming, so it was cold there too.
Nothing else to say today, so will sign off.

Argh! Flying fingers went back a page and all was gone. So, I'll start again with this: a little sparrow just hit the glass of the slider, stunned itself and is still resting against the threshold. If we had something to contain it in, we'd try to bring it inside to warm up. But neither of us it up for chasing a bird around the house.
Yesterday, we were able to get an appt. with Howard's neurologist. All was pretty much status quo until we mentioned he's been having some hallucinations. Now the doctor wants him to have some further blood and kidney tests, an EEG and another MRI. Have orders for all. Hope I can keep them straight and get those appts. made. While he showed no stroke, the brain is always a mystery even for neurologists. Many times, he said "there's no treatment for that" or "when it comes to the brain..." We got Chick-fil-A, came home then got a call from our bank about fraud on our credit card which had to be canceled, again for about the 4th time. Argh!
Bird just flew off! Yipee!
Patty, I love that you love snow and appreciate the beauty of it. It's not a popular stance with so many being "snowbirds" now, and all the TV shows that push warm climates. My family came to Indiana from South Dakota during the depression. So, I suppose they thought they'd made a step up after the blizzards in SD. More likely, they never gave it a thought!
Cheryl, I've always lived in the north, too, except for the 2 1/2 yrs. in Texas. We lived 1/2 way between Houston and Galveston. 'In the snow, drive slow'... I probably drive too slow. Thanks for the prayers.
Everyone, Thanks. We need them.
Trish, one of the questions on Jeopardy last night was: A map of Australia asking the name of the highlighted "state". I confidently answered, New South Wales. Not so. It was Victoria!
"Pride cometh before a fall"... ( Are yours called states?)
Devonne, that was nice of Emily. Sons are family, but certain subjects or medical issues can be a bit awkward. We girls always do and always will stick together.
I see Howard is eating an ice cream sandwich for his lunch. Being the nutritionist here, I doubt his choice of never eating an egg. So, I made him French toast for breakfast...there's more ways to get an egg in a person than eating an egg... (roll eyes)
Going...have a good afternoon, evening and sweet dreams.
Indy

Thoughts and prayers for all. It's 51 degrees and rainy here. A totally dreary day, but I'm reminding myself that people in California would really like a day like today, so I need to stop complaining.

THE PASTOR WILL PREACH HIS FAREWELL MESSAGE, AFTER WHICH THE CHOIR WILL SING, "BREAK FORTH UNTO JOY."
ANOTHER SUNNY BUT COLD DAY HERE. THE NITES ARE NOW DIPPING INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS. BRRRR, THAT'S COLD.
AS FOR DRIVING IN SNOW, IN THE NORTH WE LEARN THAT EARLY. IF YOU WORK OUT IN THE WORLD , A FEW INCHES OF SNOW OR A SNOW STORM WON'T KEEP YOU HOME. YOU NEED THAT PAYCHECK.
JUDY.......ITS BEST THEY DO MORE TESTS SO THEY CAN FIND THE CAUSE AND STOP IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. MAYBE SOME MEDS WILL DO THAT. I HOPE HOWARD IF FEELING BETTER TODAY. HUGS FOR YOU HOWARD.
GOSH, FRENCH TOAST. I HAVEN'T HAD THAT FOR MONTHS. I NEED TO MAKE SOME, MAYBE TOMORROW. MY MORNING IS ALREADY GONE AND ITS BRUNCH FOR ME IN A FEW MINUTES.
LATER ITS BINGO. WISH ME LUCK. IT SURE WOULD BE NICE TO WIN A BIT.
I GOT UP LATE. DID NOT GO TO BED TIL 4 AM. THEN WOKE AGAIN AT 5:30. I COULD NOT GET TO SLEEP RIGHT AWAY. THEN SLEPT TIL 9. FOUGHT FOR A BIT MORE. I DOUBT I GOT MUCH MORE THAN 5 HRS IN TOTAL. BAD NIGHT. JUST COULDN'T SLEEP WELL.
LUCKY ME I DO NOT NEED TO COOK. I HAVE THE LAST OF MY CKN SOUP AND SOME SLICED BREAST TO MAKE A SUB SO THAT'S MY 2 MEALS FOR THE DAY. I HOPED TO MAKE POTATO PANCAKES. MAYBE TOMORROW. I ALSO WANT TO MAKE A HAMBURG CASSEROLE WITH NOODLES TOMORROW. WE'LL SEE HOW THAT WORKS OUT.
STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS. PRAYERS FOR THE FIRE ZONE. ITS JUST HORRIBLE FOR THEM IN THE L.A. AREA. SUCH LOSSES. I HATE TURNING ON THE NEWS THESE DAYS. IT MAKES MY HEART HEAVY.
HUGS LADIES. QB S

Not much going on here. There are a lot of movies on Prime Video that sound good, so I've watched 3 of them.
I'm not doing much at all...just keeping the laundry done and the dishes. Hoping this open wound heals before my Jan. 27th appt., but it doesn't look promising. I think it's called a seroma.
The news about the California fires is astonishing. No water in fire hydrants? A leak in a reservoir? How can this happen? It seems like the people in North Carolina have been forgotten by the media and the government. Really sad.

ON A CHURCH POSTCARD:
CHECK ONE.
_____ I HAVE RECEIVED JESUS CHRIST AS MY LORD AND SAVIOUR.
_____I WOULD LIKE A PERSONAL CALL.
NO SNOW SIGHTED AROUND HERE BUT ITS SUNNY AND COLD.
CHERYL.......I REMEMBER WHEN THEY MADE APPLIANCES TO LAST. NOT THESE DAYS. YOU ARE LUCKY TO GET 3 OR 4 YEARS OUT OF A WASHER OR DRYER. MY BLENDER, HEAVY AS SIN AND SOLID, LASTED 50 YEARS. I ONLY DUMPED IT BECAUSE A LITTLE RUST SHOWED UP AND I DON'T TRUST ANY RUST.
THESE DAYS I DON'T HAVE THE ENERGY I USED TO HAVE. ITS BEEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS SINCE I WASHED MY FLOORS. I WAS THINKING OF HIRING A CLEANING SERVICE AND THEN TALKED WITH MY DAUGHTER. SHE WILL COME AND SCRUB MY FLOORS FOR ME AND MY OVEN DOOR. I USE LINERS IN MY OVEN SO ITS ONLY THE DOOR THAT NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING. SHE SAID SHE WILL DO IT FOR NOTHING BUT I WILL PAY HER REGARDLESS. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A STRANGER. MY ARMS ARE JUST NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO SCRUB VERY HARD THESE DAYS.
NOTHING ELSE NEW HERE. I HAVE SOME CASSEROLE TO MAKE THIS AFTERNOON. I'M THINKING SAUCY BEEF AND NOODLES. I'VE MADE IT BEFORE AND EVERYONE LIKES IT.
AS FOR BINGO LAST NITE, I LOST 5.50 WHICH IS NOT GOOD. THE MOST I COULD LOSE IS 7.00 SINCE THAT'S ALL I TAKE WITH ME. I DIDN'T WIN ANY GAMES AT ALL BUT THE CALLER WORE OUT EARLIER THAN USUAL. LUCKILY I HAVE THAT MONEY SET ASIDE IN MY ENTERTAINMENT FUND SO ITS REALLY NOT A LOSS IN MY POCKET.
I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A DECENT DAY TODAY. HUGS, QB S
